Reviews for The Portofino Hotel & Marina, a Noble House Hotel

Review 1:I think the staff can continue to improve on high quality customer service. Some of them are excellent. There still needs to be a culture of "the customer is always right." for them to reach a 5 star rating. I was shocked to learn there was a $27 charge for overnight parking, in a place where parking is normally free during the day. The charge is the same whether valet or self-parking. So that's just not right.

Review 2:The location on the waterfront, the lobby of the hotel is lovely.

Review 3:Don't generally like having to pay extra for the internet. the 24 hour Christmas music was a bit much. could have had electrical kettles int he room for tea drinkers also in the lobby there was free coffee but no tea. Was charged a few extra items on my bill which I hadn't had, amongst them parking for my entire stay.

Review 4:The nicest staff and people creating a good atmosphere. Loved the view over the ocean. The room was great. The lobby was very nice with free coffee and water, really nice. Good clean gym.

Review 5:Bad experience in the hotel bar, query misunderstanding, over an offer of a sample of a particular wine, and was the charged for a full glass of the wine, which had not been provided. Dishonest conduct in my book!

Review 6:Location, weather, very good staff, on the whole. Good food, although fully priced for what it was!

Review 7:At the price paid, WIFI should have been included as well as morning coffee in the "living room"

Review 8:friendly staff; everyone was helpful and courteous!

Review 9:Hot tub was out of service, small dent in a wonderful trip.

Review 10:Location was perfect, between two clean beeches, and the beech cruiser bikes were ideal for getting around cheaply.

Review 11:In-room Complimentary wifi sd be offered for guests in their rooms. Wifi is considered a utility now, no longer a luxury esp for biz travelers. Perhaps consider offering a buggy ride for guests within a 2 km radius of hotel for those who don't drive. Kinda hard to get around.

Review 12:I love the ambience and the friendliness of staff. They were very responsive to my needs. I told them I had misplaced my ear piece and they found it and put it in my room. When I needed to contact another hotel guest and I cd not remember the last name, they went through the whole register to find the guest and called me back at my room. This is excellent service.

Review 13:Was offered a taste of a particular red wine, and another slip before going to eat, and was surprised and disappointed to be charged for a glass of this wine, inappropriate

Review 14:great Location, ease of check-in, peace and quiet, young friendly staff, respectful, good food, excellent ambience

Review 15:they did not give a lot of info at check in about happy hour, we stumbled on nice one Wednesday night but nothing was posted; we had just stayed at Omni hotel where they are very educational about stuff going on in hotel

Review 16:View over Marina

Review 17:I have nothing to say. I loved everything about it!

Review 18:I absolutely loved it here! Staff was so nice and helpful. The room was si nice and clean and our view was breath taking!I definitely told my family and friends about our stay. We will be coming back very soon!

Review 19:Internet was chargeable, coffee and tea had to be paid for , room was not cleaned even though we had a sign outside all day

Review 20:We had an ocean facing room so view was spectacular

Review 21:They management was reluctant to give me any kind of discount for not having my room and putting me in a room other than the one I reserved.

Review 22:The otel was overbooked and they did not have the room I reserved. I had to wait for a room to open up and then had to move the room I reserved on the second day of a tree day stay.

Review 23:I only wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 24:Hotel has character, and rooms are decorated with cozy marine plushness. A glass of wine on the balcony, relaxing to the sound of seals and occasional kayakers. I saw several bridal parties over the weekend, which adds to the "awww" factor.

Review 25:The only thing I would have liked was to have more space on the oceanside to sit and lounge, maybe have a drink or a meal. There are no sandy beaches to hang out around the hotel, but it was a good stay.

Review 26:Kendra was the best part of the whole trip. She was incredibly kind and helpful from the minute we arrived and I can't compliment her enough! She is the best, she recommended places to see and places to eat and was just so amazing!

Review 27:Why do you have to pay extra for wifi & parking? Added to that everything in the room had a price tag!! Asked for ice bucket at reception but never arrived.

Review 28:Reservation on line was incorrect. The the hotel personnel upgraded our room to a beautiful suite. My friend and I were truly amazed, and so greatful. Not only did they correct the problem but made it a fantastic experience. Thank you so much

Review 29:Nothing of note.

Review 30:We were able to check in early and got an upgrade as our original room wasn't ready. We were given a free dessert at the restaurant (we didn't use it but was nice to have). We were given a $10 bar voucher for thinking of the environment and keeping our towels for the two days we were there (something I would have done anyway) The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Review 31:hot water did not work in my shower in the morning and I had to leave at 6:30 AM... the hotel staff blamed it on a "3rd party" and offered to reimburse my parking.....WHAT?

Review 32:liked my room

Review 33:Our bed was broken and had to moved to another room. Came home late to other room. Floor was soaking wet, phone was broken and bed spread was half dry.

Review 34:Location only

Review 35:Up-charged $50/night when we checked out.

Review 36:The hotel accommodations, location and staff were great. What bothered me was the change in price per night. I booked online at a rate of $170/night, but when we checked out I was charged $220/night.

Review 37:No hot water for nearly a whole day. Mediocre restaurant/room service. Staff less accomodating than I would expect under the circumstances.

Review 38:I was happy when we could leave.

Review 39:Pillows were horrible. No head and neck support just could not sleep. I think they were feather down. being awake all night left me tired and we had a long flight home next day. Not good

Review 40:Staff was excellent, very helpful and gave us discounts for some troubles we had. Nice to be on ocean side.Room clean bed was comfy.

Review 41:Can't think of anything.

Review 42:The lounge area is exquisite, a lovely welcoming room. We took advantage of the free bike hire, we cycled 14kms along the beaches which was fantastic. Will definitely return one day.

Review 43:We were given a room on the ground floor - adjacent to a Conference room - and a view of shrubs and hedges adjacent to the car park 15 ft away from our room. Cars starting up all the time - people coming from the restaurant at night being loud in the carpark. Then there is a general walkway next to our room's patio leading to the Hotel entrance / which means you have people looking into your room at all times of day ........ Horrible stay - never again.

Review 44:Redondo Beach is nice

Review 45:The location is a bit far from the main fun (Hermosa). But comfortable for calm rest. Parking is expensive, not too much activities in the hotel.

Review 46:We loved the hotel and old-fashioned design. The pool is very small but very private. The rooms are big. You can take a bike for free and make a great ride to Hermosa and Manhattan beaches.

Review 47:Second visit here. friendly and efficient staff, great location. The best place to relax in the area, with great foods and wine. Will certainly be back again.

Review 48:Overpriced. Hotel looks very tired & not very clean. Elevator wasvery slow & felt very shaky. Took the stairs instead. No place tostore folded clothes except two tiny drawers below the mini bar (??).Paying for WiFi at these prices?? Food at Baleen's was belowaverage & expensive for what it was. Hugh power plant next door wasa big turn off & not a welcome sight as you approach the hotel. Icemachine was on the first floor & out of ice several times. Cablewas out for the tv but engineer came & fixed it at 10:00 pm. Thinwalls between rooms. Could hear everything. Too many negatives for themoney. They can't rely on their location for a four star rating. Also very disappointed that they don't have recycling waste basketsin the rooms or at the hotel. Cfl lights is not enough to call yourselfa green hotel.

Review 49:Ocean view room. Being right on the water as opposed to seeing the oceanfrom blocks away.

Review 50:1.No drawers space for clothes. 2.No room in Refrigerator for personal use. Sealed door, packed with items to buy. 3.High price ($26) for daily parking. 4.Coffee in lobby only on weekends. 5. No complimentary breakfast. 6. Room size small 7. Daily charge ($12) for internet usage. 8. Poor value for the money!

Review 51:Location, location, location! Beautiful view of the harbor

Review 52:Bait and switch on check in. The Marina view is really parking lot view. cost me $50/night more to get the view room even though I thought that is what I was getting. Hotel staff are rude at times. Service isn't good. too many weddings so many late night parties next door with loud drunk wedding goers.

Review 53:location is great and the ocean view side is fantastic.

Review 54:Every morning of our stay, the leaf blowers and maintenance workers were out there hammering away at 7:00 a.m. Never heard the ocean but heard lots of machines. Quiet at night, but mornings...forget it! Baleen bar...food was average at best, drinks were tiny and nothing great....and their cost was way too high for the quality. There is also a $26 per day parking fee that is not listed when you book your room rate.

Review 55:Beds were great, staff was excellent, room was clean and very comfortable. Location was perfect for us. Loved the views of the harbor. The grounds were beautiful. My daughter loved sitting in the window seat reading in the early morning light. I was able to get some writing done there too. The lobby is gorgeous, inviting, and exhilarating.

Review 56:The baleen restaurant was disappointing in menu, quality and service. The quality and range of the breakfast buffet was very disappointing, which was not helped by brunch only at the weekend. Private parties seemed to take precedence over hotel guests.

Review 57:Ocean view was lovely. The lobby lounge was beautiful. Concierge staff were really helpful. The best food is at Joe's crab shack

Review 58:I didn't like the attitude of room service staff and few people at front desk as few of them especially women were not much welcoming .

Review 59:I loved the location & food of this hotel .

Review 60:Spoilt only by the excessive car parking charges.

Review 61:Very conveniently located right on the waters edge with a delightful outlook on both sides of the very long wings. Spacious and well appointed but as with many hotels these days, lacks a little in routine maintenance that just takes the top edge off the reputation.

Review 62:The rooms are not very big. The Continental breakfast served in the room was very disappointing only the big bowl of fresh fruit was nice. The coffee needs improvement.

Review 63:It is a lovely hotel located next to the Marina and we enjoyed bicycling 5 minutes down to the Hermosa Beach. This year there were bicycles available when we needed them.

Review 64:They didn't offer complimentary coffee in the lobby.

Review 65:I am a picky traveler and we absolutely loved this place! It is quiet, has marine activities within walking distance, and several adorable seals make their home in the harbor. We slept with the windows open to hear them.

Review 66:Beds to small, nickel and dime without inform the extra cost(add on tax)i was stunned to see 60 extra each rooms,no entrance to beach or bay, should have been told, your add shows people in water,we assumedWhen you charge for ocean front you could use the watet

Review 67:Another traveler paid 1/2 of what I paid without prior reservation. The water did not drain properly. The ice machine was inconvenient. The valet brought my car dirty from parking it under a sap tree.

Review 68:The bed was nice and the shower head was nice.

Review 69:The carpet was a bit worn. The elevator was very slow. The rooms were warm. Our room phone did not work. The workout room was too hot to use. The bell service for luggage help was unavailable when we checked out.

Review 70:All the staff people were very nice!!! The location is wonderful. Quiet with peaceful views. The live music in the lobby was welcoming.

Review 71:Air cond wasn't really cold enough

Review 72:the Baleen coffee shop was really good. Food and ambience.

Review 82:Excellent hotel and great location

Review 83:partial ocean view

Review 84:No bar in the evening. The room door rattled all night so we had to put papers in the door to jam it. Breakfast was poor.
