Reviews for The Palms Hotel & Spa
Review 1:We got married here nine years ago. The man at the front desk checked me in and said: "you've been here before so you are set" and sent me away. He gave us no without giving us any guidance. The hotel had been remodeled since the last time we stayed, and it has been a long time. It would have been nice to have someone explain the facilities and the hours of operation of the restaurant. I spoke with the concierge before getting to the hotel and she promised a bottle of champagne to our room after dinner; however, they showed up with a bottle of wine and strawberries instead and no explanation for the change. I had to ask if that was wine and point out that I was expecting champagne. The attendant promptly left the room and came back replacing the wine for prosecco. The magic was gone. After our first evening at the hotel, we left the room around 11:00 am and came back at 4:00 but were asked to come back in 15 minutes because they were working on it. When we returned half an hour later, the cleaning service person was gone but the bed was not made Our last day, we opted for the breakfast buffet and, even though the containers where the food was placed were warm, everything was cold. The bread was cold, like it had been refrigerated for too long. The eggs benedict and every single item at the buffet was not warm or at room temperature, but cold. When we noted it to one of the waiters they invited us to use the toaster to heat up the croissants. Seriously.
Review 2:The location is excellent, the rooms were modern and made a very efficient use of space, the staff: (concierge, restaurant waiter, towel ladies, and room service) was courteous and very attentive. The bed was very comfortable.
Review 3:Excellent visit from the minute we left our car. From the doorman to the associate at the front desk everyone was very friendly and professional. This was a wonderful hotel, very clean and up to date. The room was perfect. The Garden, Pool and Beach areas were Beautiful. We will be back....
Review 4:Way too expensive for the standard. Pool quite dirty and no outside jacuzzi nor inside. It was a SPA but steamshower you had to pay extra for!
Review 5:Location, good beds, good teve screen
Review 6:The only two things are the big dust under the bed and the expensive minibar.
Review 7:Nice Hotel with direct beach access and a fine small parc with pool. Everytime enough chairs at the pool and beach. Warm heated pool, good for the colder Winterdays.
Review 8:1. They placed us on mezzanine floor, which was really terrible but the next day we were fortunately moved on the 11 floor 2. The main problem is that the hotel charged us 2 times. We arrived and payed for the whole trip and yesterday I came to moscow and they blocked again the same sum of money we paid and now I cannot use my money.
Review 9:Normal 4 stars hotel
Review 10:Our room was very noisy, because of automatically slaming doors and loud hotel staff. Having to wait for restaurant enty, while restaurant was max 40% occupied...
Review 11:The garden and the pool area! Room equipment was good!
Review 12:The Palms could do with being more discreet about the way they behave,Immediately on checking in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade to a more expensive room, Pushy! the second day at 5pm we returned to our room hot and in need of a shower, it was being cleaned still, we had to wait downstairs for 15 minutes, ar reception they said this was normal, ( they should have offered us a drink) then the day of our check out the maid came to clean at 9.30am, we had the room until 12am and you can't check in before 4pm, also usually after youve checked out like most hotels the Palms allows you to use the facilities, but they charge $20 for having a shower, I feel this is unnecessary, as the rates are not cheap! These are minor things but they make a guest feel unwelcome and are unnecessary for a four star hotel!
Review 13:Great pool area and easy access to beach. Easy walk along beach path leading to Ocean Drive with access to other hotels and bars
Review 14:Cleanliness was totally unacceptable. I stayed with my family for a week and the shower wasn't cleaned once neither the carpet was vaccumed. Major dust buildup behind the lamp stand and old paper napkins under the bed that was there for a Week. Called Front desk to mention the dissatisfaction and asked the manager to call me but no one bothered to follow up. Front desk , Restaurant staff needs to be trained onAmerican traveler expectation. No kids pool and the outdoor ground are poorly displayed and needs a lot of TLC
Review 15:The location of the property is excellent. Rooms are very modern and the ocean view is amazing. Bellman staff were excellent at all time without exception.
Review 16:1. New Years Eve dinner event in relation to the price. Food quality very good, but the service was really poor. Got the first dish about one hour from start. We were informed by the staff during the evening "it's chaos in the kitchen". 2. Gym not the most impressive, but OK.
Review 17:1. Breakfast 2. Location - easy access to the beach 3. Beach facilities and service at the beach 4. Quick service when arriving / departing with our rental car
Review 18:The Gym need updating its very small and have only 2 running machines , one of them didn't work so the guest had to wait there turn.
Review 19:beautuful Hotel, friendly staff , you feel home away from home! We loved it! Very clean and the food is outstanding. Good value for money.
Review 20:Staff at check in desk were lacking customer service, unfriendly and and only concerned with getting your money. I was fully aware that EVERYTHING had to be paid for during the whole time at this hotel from the moment I met the reception staff - Thanks you all made a negative impression last the 4 days I stayed there!! The valet service was so slow. We called to make sure the car was ready every time. The first time it was 30 mins late, the next time after 45 minutes we had to put the family in a taxi to the airport. And we had been generously tipping on top of the expensive daily valet fee. I wouldn't recommend staying here!!!
Review 21:comfortable big beds, with amazing mattresses and pillows. Beautiful plantation, colonial look to hotel. Nice pool area. Great wait staff in restaurant and by the pool. Gym was OK. Beach access and chairs was good.
Review 22:We took a double room for our family and we found it too small and the beds too narrow. They were indeed European size double beds and two rooms would have been the ideal option if your budget allows!
Review 23:The atmosphere gave an exotic feeling with the outdoor terrace (giant porch) along with the pool area and the proximity to the beach. The breakfast was great and the staff very friendly. The rooms were clean, quiet and the mattresses and linen comfortable.
Review 24:- Room was just very noisy and close to elevator - Very small room even if i booked fir 4 person - room was not cleaned at all and only 2 towels for 2 nights stay !
Review 25:Breakfast is excellent with organic product and fresh fruits Access to the beach is so excellent
Review 26:Mini bar. You take the water, but the sensor inside counts allegedly that I took the champagne - the most expensive item. That I was said. It does not matter who's cheating there - reception or housekeeping but I am disappointed.
Review 27:Location. Far enough from overcrowded Ocean Drive.
Review 28:The hotel is very very helpful and kind! When I met big trouble with Carnival (which is a terrible agency), Palms hotel makes feel home and they give me all their kindness help! Super hotel! So great!
Review 29:The room was always made around 3pm, so when back from the beach and ready to rest, they would knock on the door to do it. However, very nice ladies.
Review 30:Location with direct access to the beach, very nice Aveda spa, great bed.
Review 31:It was a nice place to get relaxe and enjoy the seaside or pool, however during our time there was a wedding reception which we had to leave the whole area of pool and garden. Didn't like this part,,,
Review 32:Restaurant needs to add more taste and variety .. Front desk shouldn't be asking their guests at 4:00pm ( the most late check in time ever noted) did you receive a sms to confirm your room is ready ..
Review 33:Sea facing rooms are amazing Proximity to the beach, beach bed and facilities..
Review 34:The service was overall poor Din´t clean our room for two days although we asked for it serveral times The staff was not as "help orientated" as we espected.
Review 35:The hotel location was great. The room was modern and han a nice ocen view. Nice beach spot and pool
Review 36:We walked into the room, every single one of our hand towels had stains on them. I had to ask 3 times over a 5 hour period to get new ones. I also had to escalate to supervisors/managers in order to get this fixed. Housekeeping did not obey the do not disturb sign and walked in on me in bed. Also, my comforter had a stain on it. They did give me some of my money back for the dissatisfaction, but not enough if you ask me.
Review 37:The location was great, private beach was beautiful, and the spa was awesome, especially the staff.
Review 38:hotel is getting a bit old fashioned slowly
Review 39:Great Hotel, perfect staff, brilliant breakfast, nice rooms, nice beach, wonderful spa area, quiet and relaxing area but just 5-10 min drive to oceandrive!
Review 40:I hated the concept of the bathroom and toilet.
Review 41:Facilities were amazing. The staff were pleasant and very helpful.Cleanliness was on point. The food was ok
Review 42:Excellent value for money. Got a great deal through booking.com. Staff were very friendly, the beach and facilities were great and the rooms were very comfortable.
Review 43:I found the staff at front desk not very helpful and did not seem to know much about downtown. To go into downtown was too far and cost a lot of money for us every night with buses and taxis. No restaurants and bars to been seen close by and what was open was quite pricey.
Review 44:the hotel was lovely and the facilities were good and clean. the bedrooms were very nice and clean and the cleaning service was very good and regular.
Review 45:The breakfast was not included according to the hotel. I did not like the fact that the toilet was separate from the shower to me it should all be in the same room
Review 46:The staff was friendly
Review 47:I didn't like the bathroom set up. The toilet is in one room and the shower in another. I did not like the supposedly eco friendly toilet flush that was very loud and went on for almost 5 minutes with every flush. Hard to sleep through it. Also wierd noises and loud bangs in middle of the night through the thin walls.
Review 48:I really liked the location.
Review 49:The Hotel was wonderful; location, staff and the environment. The staff were very welcoming, but not over the top. The environment was very lush and green and the beach was on the doorstep - it was perfect.
Review 50:Wow. I really like everything on this hote,l stayed two nights but really want to stay more days. staff very polite, very clean, there is a waiter on the pool I don't remember his name but I remember he is from Europe was very polite.
Review 51:No balcony, bad lighting in the bathrooms, expensive resort fee and parking. Soundproofing didn't seem too good in the room.
Review 52:Beautiful, immaculate, friendly staff, wonderful beach and beach service, very nice bar and restaurant. Really liked the separate bathrooms and two sinks. Fluffy pillows and comfy beds.
Review 53:Absolutely beautiful resort! HOWEVER, those housekeeping doors NEED TO BE CHANGED!!! They are literally slamming those doors all day long and being there on business in room 608. It was so hard to concentrate. I suggest a door stopper, changes in the hinges to slow the door down, change the locks, put a cushion in between the door jam. Something!
Review 54:musty, shower leaked when you take a shower, toilet seat kept moving out of place when you sat on it, houskeeping not too clean when cleaning room, staff not friendly at all....
Review 55:The view rom the room
Review 56:They offered us an upgrade to a suite and we took it, thinking the newrate was $250 plus tax per day. But later they told us that the upgradewas 250 per day plus tax plus the rate we were already paying. We werelocked out of our room and locked out of the phone system so that wecould not call our credit card company to find out what they had chargedus. We had to pay the additional $1250 in order to get back in our room. Was this a misunderstanding? Or was it a bait and switch? Whatever itwas, it left us maxed out on our credit card and feeling horrible aboutthe hotel.the food in the restaurant was poor, overcooked fish, very high prices, limited menu
Review 57:Nothing
Review 58:We loved the location and the private beach access, with all the facilities designed to make your stay unforgettable. The exquisite gardens contributed to a feeling of tranquillity and beauty.
Review 59:Some fees that you see only at check-out, be careful when you book to read the fine prints to know what to expect
Review 60:The hotel and facilities are very nice
Review 61:The housekeeping staff were very rude! One morning a housekeeper didn't knock she just walked in our room while my mother was getting dressed and instead of saying sorry and leaving she just stood there I had to tell her to leave the room and she still didn't leave she kept saying she was coming to clean I told her we didn't want the room clean I had to walk over to her and tell her face to face that we didn't want the room clean since she obviously didn't understand the first time! The other staff are very nice it's just the housekeepers that are rude when you ask them questions they roll their eyes.
Review 62:Loved that the pool was open 24hrs. The hotel was beautiful close to the beach but the part of the beach it was close to was very dirty
Review 63:The breakfast was really bad. Cold food, bad service and poor choice. If this food had been presented to you in a restaurant, you would turn it away. Why do hotels expect people to accept bad breakfasts all the time???
Review 64:Nice and clean
Review 65:Had to wait 1 hour for car to come back from secure parking breakfast was good but over priced music loud from next hotel woken up at 8 am by drilling had to wait for suit case for 45 minutes on departure
Review 66:Hotel and grounds clean staff friendly location to beach excellent free towels
Review 67:Pricing for food out of any proportion. Breakfast buffet for 2 adults & 1 kid costing almost 80 dollars!
Review 68:Nice hotel on good location near the beach
Review 69:I loved the hotel (elegant), the restaurant (delicious) and the pool/pool area with its beautiful palm trees and flowering plants and also that the hotel was just a few feet from the beach.
Review 70:Two issues: We were out late a couple of nights and forgot to put the "do not disturb" sign out. Housekeeping came at 9am. We asked them to come back. By 5pm, they had not returned. We had to call the front desk. They sent someone immediately. Also, the rooms across the hallway were being renovated/repaired. They started promptly at 9am. Lots of noise. Made sleeping in a bit difficult.
Review 71:The Restaurant Essensia was phenomenal! Food was great for lunch or dinner. Also, had stuff off the cabana menu while at the pool and that was incredible too! Staff was unbeatable.
Review 72:Kept being disturbed by Room Service even when the notice was left on the door
Review 73:Cleanliness was excellent. The Restaurant food quality and service were excellent too.
Review 74:A bucket of ice at the beach seemed to be a big deal if you didn't purchase 5 beers. At the time we stayed the pool was so cloudy you barely saw your feet. They should monitor kids playing ball and Frisbees in pool.
Review 75:Clean facility. Oceanfront room.
Review 76:We loved everything about the hotel. The location is literally right on the beach and they provide chairs with umbrellas while you lounge. You can order food and drinks and everything is brought out to you. We also loved the pool was open 24 hours and it was heated. Most surrounding hotels in the area closed their pools at 10:00pm. They also have someone who comes and turn down the room for you before bedtime so don't be alarmed if you leave your room and come back and the room has been slightly cleaned and covers and pillows have been moved. :-) We will definitely be staying again when we return.
Review 77:The resort is not value for money, I expected more from the room point of view
Review 78:I loved the environment of the resort, especially the private beach and amazing swimming pool. My trip became awesome because of the spa facility available in the resort.
Review 79:No microwave in the rooms or other small amenities on the floor.Parking was a hassle.
Review 80:The bed was comfortable. The bathroom with the shower was wonderful.
Review 81:This hotel was by far the nicest hotel on the whole beach/Boardwalk. They went above and beyond with the scenery more then higher cost hotels even. The lounge/pool area makes you feel your somewhere else. The whole hotel was of the highest quality (showers, room,) expensive nice furniture, all doors are automatic, very clean, food was amazing (better then a high end restaurant we tried for twice the price) felt like a brand new hotel. Would never stay anywhere else.
Review 82:Not really a big negative but the poolside bar closed a little early.
Review 83:The staff were terrific. Very obliging and friendly. The pool and surrounds were very good. The service (food and drinks) to the beach were excellent.
Review 84:Just a really nice hotel with an art deco feel which backs onto the beautiful beach. Not much going on out the front if you turn right but turn left and you quickly find a few shops and bars etc. Only there15 hours on a quick stop over but would have liked to have stayed longer and seen more. Expensive but worth it for a bit of cool luxury!!
Review 85:There were long wait times for the valet to bring our car even when calling ahead.
Review 86:The staff was friendly, the hotel is beautiful, and the location was perfect. There are so many wonderful things to list, from the nicely decorated rooms, the rainfall shower head, the Aveda products, the beautiful swimming pool, and the delicious breakfast buffet to name a few.
Review 87:A bag disappeared from our room and your staff showed no concern nor follow through for this incident. After 3 complaints to different people in the front desk, it reappeared in the room, without any explanation nor apology. Until today I haven't heard from the hotel on the incident. Unbelievable.
Review 88:Nice beach and great weather.
Review 89:Having an evening return flight home and having to pay a 20 dollar fee to use the shower in the spa area, as no other facilities are provided and a late check out would not be accommodated
Review 90:Room was little. The Spa does not gave a Sauna and very little. Considering the name of the hotel. You expect a more spa facilities. Finally, the masage price is not real, since there is 20% gratuity which is mandatory and not informed. You get to know that when you are there. It looks like overpricing.
Review 91:The wifi was rubbish and wasn't actually free it was $22.95 per day! The two female restaurant hosts were awful. They were extremely rude and made us feel like it was an inconvenience us wanting to eat dinner. The hotel lost a lot of money from us because of this as we refused to eat in the restaurant due to the extremely poor service.
Review 92:The pool, pool area, beach and the room was fabulous
Review 93:Prices on everything are high. Time to clean rooms could be improved, we were waiting for room during chech-in till 1-30.
Review 94:We enjoyed our vacation in this hotel. Very good rooms, hotel territory is green and clean, good food, direct access to the beach. Chairs with umbrellas on the beach are very comfortable. Little (20 min by foot) far from South beach main attractions, which is also good because of very loud music in the beach hotels near centre. Excellent service.
Review 95:Taking a shower after check-out comes at a cost of USD 20,-.. they do not have any room available to change and shower.. fairly odd.
Review 96:Beachfront location, private beach, garden & pool area, room decoration, general atmosphere & design, spa
Review 97:Everything about The Palms was of excellent quality. The size of the hotel was perfect, everything was in good taste. The staff could not do enough for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend The Palms.
Review 98:We took the hop on hop off bus (Big Bus) and many signs were missing so hard to figure where to catch bus and only run every 20-30 minutes so if you miss it, you may spend a lot of time waiting.ca
Review 99:hotel's ambiance. not too big to get around great beach. hop on hop off bus to get to other areas but really all you need to do is take a taxi or walk if you only want to see South Beach.
Review 100:No rooms with balconies, and the windows don't open. A bit far from South Beach centre (restaurants etc) thirty minute walk or $10 taxi.
Review 101:We stayed at The Palms with our daughter, son in law and 5 year old granddaughter. It was the perfect place (despite not having a kids club) for a family holiday. The hotel interior has an elegant Caribbean feel and the garden, pool area and outdoor bar are very attractive. The beach is lovely and is just across the boardwalk which is great for a morning walk or jog. We really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of The Palms.
Review 102:It won't let you use its "convenient" fridge, but to buy hotel thinks, not for your left-overs or if you have personal drinks! It is only to sell you THEIR drinks & expensive! It charges $6.00 for a small bottle of water!!! It charges you $7 to connect to the Internet downstairs in its "business center" Its restaurant is too expensive and does not offer reasonable plates or snacks for light eaters!...
Review 103:Its big hotel, big lobby appearence Its bed and bathroom, Complimentary coffee maker
Review 104:The location a mile away from any action but we had a car so fine. You had to exchange a towel card to get a pool towel. No card. No towel. A little annoyance to have to have the right # of cards for the kids but we were fine once we knew system.
Review 105:The resort was very family friendly. I would not consider in high end luxury category but certainly nice enough and no one would be disappointed. It is in the shadow of the new Seville ultra luxury hotel which is a contrast. Clean rooms - updated nicely and friendly staff. I think Miami folks are just nice in general. I didn't eat in the hotel or use the spa so cannot speak to it.
Review 106:None
Review 107:Love the heated outdoor swimming poo. The hotel is also connected to the beach, literally 30 seconds away. The restaurant serves some brilliant food.
Review 108:called 4 times to fix the TV, did not work for the entire stay. For 500 a night I expect more called 4 times to get my luggage, too 4 calls and 2 hours to get the luggage to my room
Review 109:the room in general
Review 110:Our room that was to be our honeymoon treat had a leaking shower, unsafe fan, broken glass and noisy wc flush not in good working order. Bad customer service they should have moved is to better room immediately
Review 111:Pool and beech area and great snacks Manager resolved issue of delayed food with excellent customer service
Review 112:The concierge service is poor compared to the other services by the hotel, especially for first timers to the city, like in my case
Review 113:Hotel cleanliness and ambience. It is conveniently located in quite place, while still walking distance from the heart of South Beach. The SPA is excellent from the therapist, staff, ambience and cleanliness
Review 114:Received an upgrade on our arrival for Husband's birthday. Fantastic room with excellent views. All the staff were most helpful nothing was too much trouble for them. Didn't have an evening meal but the buffet breakfast was amazing.
Review 115:Wished I could have my cocktail in a glass as opposed to a plastic cup but understand the Heath and safety concerns being by the pool.
Review 116:Staff were very pleasant and informative. Facilities great. Only wished I could have stYed longer. Loved being in such close proximity to the beach and being able to jog on the broad walk then have a cool dip in the sea. Will come again.
Review 117:No parking, there is a Valet Parking system in place and staff will take the car to a nearby Parking Lot, the fee is $35 per day! Be aware of a daily $19 charge, supposedly to top up staff's wages but they still expect tips. Staff working Breakfast delivered very poor service. Waiters in Essence Dinning Room during Dinner were excellent.
Review 118:Beautiful Garden, private beach and very comfortable bed. Great location at Miami Beach. All areas were kept very clean and tidy
Review 119:Lots of building work going on next door, although we understand the hotel can do little about the noise. It didn't really affect us much to be honest (and it looks really close to completing)
Review 120:The service we were given by each member of staff throughout the whole hotel was sensational. We have never felt so valued as a customer in any hotel. The hotel grounds are stunning and really have that tropical/plantation feel to it. The room we upgraded to (an extra $50 a night but so worth it) was perfect. The view was amazing, looking out over the pool, gardens and onto Miami Beach.
Review 121:We did encounter a couple of problems. When we first checked in, it was way too early and they didn't have a room available yet. We didn't expect them to, so that was fine. They told us we would receive a call, text, or email advising us when it was ready but we never got any notification. After several hours we called and were told the room was ready and had been for a while. No big deal. Once we got to the room, it took us about an hour to get our bags they promised would be sent up right away. Honestly, I'm not one to expect to be waited on, I would have been fine bringing my own bags up if they were busy. Again, not a huge deal as we were content to lounge in the room a bit. Next, we discovered there was no seal on the bottom of the shower door, so we had a bit of a minor flood in the bathroom. Easily cleaned up with towels but yikes. Also the wifi sucked (at least it was free..) and the tv remote worked sporadically. I suppose all together, this makes it sound like a nightmare experience but they really were just minor inconveniences.
Review 122:The hotel is beautiful- great decor, nice location on the beach, the pool looked inviting. Outdoor areas were adequately shaded with some patches of sunlight for people who enjoy tanning. The beach had nice loungers with plenty of umbrellas and friendly bar staff. One guy walked around handing out frozen grapes, which were just perfect. They also had free iced water infused with melon and other fruit in a few different locations that was delicious. Hotel beach towels were plush and pretty big... Covered the entire beach lounger. The room was a good size and beautiful, the bed was very comfortable (we both slept very well), and we really did enjoy our stay there. The restaurant was also fantastic. The Greek veggie flatbread was incredible and the BLT panini was superb. Our server was fantastic as well, and I wish I could remember her name! There was a wedding going on while we were staying there, and the glimpses I got of the ceremony and reception areas looked fantastic. That said, it seemed like the wedding and other hotel guests didn't interfere with each other at all despite the close proximity.
Review 123:- no breakfast included - small pool - no wifi at the beach - no freezer in hotel room - location (quiet, but very far away from Lincoln road etc) - no airport hotel shuttle - too high prices for tiki bar
Review 124:- excellent service - very clean - comfortable beds - spacious and very modern rooms - free wifi - very friendly and helpful staff
Review 125:I was just really disappointed that there was no hot tub
Review 126:Our room was very dusty. I asked the front desk to send someone to clean it and the dust was still there.
Review 127:Beautiful property, loved that the pool is open 24 hours. Only had a 1 night stay but would certainly go back.
Review 128:They charge you for things the you never used
Review 129:The bed
Review 130:Quality is not worth amount of money we paid. That hotel is 3 star only
