Reviews for Flushing YMCA

Review 1:The hallway smelled of smoke and pot. The bathroom was a very long way down the hall.

Review 2:Only a short cab ride away from La Guardia Airport and thus convenient for a night plane layover.

Review 3:Expensive given you have a shared bathroom, a single bed and WiFi that stops you from visiting certain sites.

Review 4:Friendly staff. Close to la Guardia airport.

Review 5:The comunication. When I booked online I asked if there is a bathroom in the room. No answer .n when my guest, arrive nonthin. Thebooking was not forwarded to the hotel on time.

Review 6:Location

Review 7:I liked the location ! I came from JFK airport by bus and the next day to LGA airport also by bus ! It was pretty easy to go everywhere from there ! If u are just looking for stay one night because u have a connection flight the next day ! Is the best idea !

Review 8:They had no blankets in the room The Room was very cold at first and then extremely hot. Unlivable. We saw a man leaving the place and then we saw him begging at the subway. It had a disgusting smell on the hallways.

Review 9:Nothing. It is the worst place I have ever seen. Full of homeless people

Review 10:The carpet and the shared bathrooms....Even though the staff maintain a daily cleaning of the facilities some of the residency were nasty the way they treated the shared bathrooms.

Review 11:The staff was on point and answered my every need...I really had a good time for my entire stay there.

Review 12:I had the misfortune of arriving here late at night to check in, despite their website saying 24 hour check in. The front desk guy (who didn't even know what day is was...) said they had overbooked and someone came in earlier than me and they gave my room to him. After telling him the reservation is meant to hold my room, he said that they overbooked and there were no more rooms. I told him I had no where else to stay, so he said I can sleep in the reception area. I told him I didn't reserve a room to sleep in reception. He gave me the managers details so I can contact them about the issue. So I ended up going across the street to a Marco LaGuardia Hotel (a bit overpriced, but staff treat you like royalty!). I came back the next day to the YMCA and asked to be refunded the cost of the hotel I paid at Marco LaGuardia. The reception lady asked me to fill out a form with the recepit and she will give it to the manager. It's been a week and i a haven't heard from them. Avoid this hotel! They do not hold reservations, as the reception guy Nicholas said that it's a "first come first serve" basis.

Review 13:nothing

Review 14:I booked a head and still didn't have a room. They put us in tworooms after 30 minutes. The third morning they told me I had to move outof the room asap and they put another bed in the other room they gave usthe first night. Never gave us a room with the space for three. Sad sad.Booking on your site does not guarantee you will have a place to stayaway from home.

Review 15:Arrived at 11 am and asked for check in. Was told to come back later and left my luggage in their luggage room, that anyone can enter and is poorly secured. I went to the city and returned at 1:30 am only to find out my room was given away. Had a discussion for over an hour to find a solution to the problem. The supervisor was not available and the remaining staff not very qualified. I was offered an emergency bed in the hallway or some facility room (yoga room etc) in case I want privacy. As the facility opens at around 6-7 am they could not guarantee a night with normal sleep. After a long discussion, they were able to get a room at the North Brooklyn YMCA, which was more expensive than the one at the Flushing YMCA, and I had to pay the full price even though my reservation was secured with my credit card according to booking.com. I did not cancel the booking. At first they refused to even pay a ride to the other YMCA and suggested me to take a cab and pay on my own or take a bus. Ridiculous. It took a long time until they finally gave in and they offered to pay the taxi. I went to bed at 5 am at the North Brooklyn one. Thankfully, they let me check out at noon even though their policy said 10 am and did not charge extra. At least something. Never book this place.

Review 16:Nothing

Review 17:1.But this time breasfast served only instant sweet things. 2.l have to checked out with refund. Because they want me to move over to room which restroom use downstairs.they said my room has reserved since 2yrs ago for one of 35 single room guests. In that case i think they should not reseive my reservation. People want their reservation condition same during staying.

Review 18:About 10 yrs ago i've been booked chicago ymca. At that time everything was satiafied and breakfast was served buffet style. That's why i made reserve y this time

Review 19:None at all, I didn't even see an ant in my room.

Review 20:I liked the Customer Service Representatives. housekeeping, and maintenance staff. Very friendly and helpful.

Review 21:Share shower and bathroom. I paid $70 for a bunk bed not what I ordered on booking.com, terrible building, won't come back again.

Review 22:Perfect location, walking distance to subway.

Review 23:The shared bathrooms were not clean. The wifi network blocks even many Wikipedia pages as 'restricted content'. The complimentary breakfast is basically a muffin and tea/coffee.

Review 24:They have a complimentary luggage storage that can come in handy. The location is convenient to take the bus or subway.

Review 25:3 showers have one drain. i was lucky I got the last one. but i would have hated if i had got the first one. all the water comes to the first one.. :(

Review 26:nice people.. nice room super nice location.

Review 27:The same key opens ALL the room doors. The pillow was skimpy and lame. The room was super small. The $55 price sucks, too much for way too little.

Review 28:Well at least it was open.

Review 29:I booked 2 nights. When I checked in they didn't have a room for the 2nd night. I Had To go book a hotel for over twice as much.

Review 30:I liked the cost

Review 31:1. Too noisy 2. Too many YMCA members in and out the building 3. Booked 4 nights and only offer 2 nights because of spring break overbooked, no help offered, have to find a friend to stay in his house

Review 32:swimming pool, location

Review 33:I made a reservation for 5 days later , when I came back they did not hold the room for me ,I almost have to sleep in the street, it was president week end

Review 34:Not complain at all

Review 35:When they bump my confirm reservation and yesterday I was charged triple for one night stay.

Review 36:The many programs they offer to do sports. Parking is very good, free breakfast and it is in Chinatown, spicy food.

Review 37:The fact that there is no phone in the room

Review 38:Is a friendly and an affordable accommodation for tourist, if want to visit new York and keep fit come to floshing ymca

Review 39:Nothing about this place i enjoyed because i never got to stay because of such bad service and booking at 1-2am in the morning me and my girlfriend had to hunt a different place the day before valentine!! Uggh

Review 40:Never got any good experience they sold my room after i reserved it online got there late and it was cold with my girlfriend and we had to leave out in the cold to find somewhere else to stay ..this is very upseting because i reserved my room online which they said was available i even screen shot my pin number and refernce number for the room yet when i got there all the rooms where full which is upsetting and rediculous i would never recommend this place to a friend!!

Review 41:the room was extremely small for the price. The bathroom is shared with everyone in the hallway so very uncomfortable. It was a common bathroom so anyone could use it. For 20 dollars more I should've booked a proper hotel room with a private bathroom.

Review 42:The staff were nice

Review 43:The water in the shower is hit or miss being warm.

Review 44:Location, breakfast which is a bread and coffee or tea and you have to be buzzed in so it's secure than most hotels

Review 45:The back entrance door did not work. It is winter and safety to walk from parking lot around front.inconvenience.

Review 46:The staff was friendly. Easy to access freeway. Afforadable for New York.

Review 47:Sometimes walking 10 mins back from to the subway station to the hostel at night as a single female. I was never harassed though.

Review 48:Good room & never had to wait for bathroom facilities. Clean, WIFI worked in bedroom, staff were very friendly, free breakfast and you were welcome to use YMCA facilities. I quite enjoyed the above ground subway ride into town from the Queens area (felt like not long)

Review 49:i spent only 1 night for a transit :(bad experience) very cold room, no toilet paper, the taxi called by the receptionnist overpriced the transport to laguardia (25usd, 5minutes!!)

Review 50:Weirdest place in the history of hotels: it's some kind of community building with a pool, gym, male dorms and a shelter for drunk/homeless people too?? First guy I encountered in the elevator wanted to take me to his room where he has a 2p bed. Next 3 persons in the elevator where bums reeking of alcohol staring and winking at me. Bathroom + toilet is across the hall, very inconvenient. Not clean, I did't feel safe due to all the weird guys walking around and asking for my attention. Not suitable for a woman alone. Room was like a sauna, airco wasn't strong enough to get the heat out so I had to sleep with the window open (mind you that it was snowing outside!!). Totally not worth the 50 bucks. The receptionists were very friendly and helpful though

Review 51:free wifi refrigerator in te room

Review 52:Terrible smell of detergent in the room - almost impossible to sleep without opening the window. bed was small and creaking. Washrooms and room could have been much cleaner.

Review 53:Cheap, decent location.

Review 54:* Staff lacked good command over English * Late night staff at front desk had very poor info to offer as far as guesthouse amenities/services/policies * Even though our stay was booked for 6 nights, the room assigned to us was in the corner and hence not well ventilated * Not enough electric outlets in the room

Review 55:* Breakfast * Daily room service * Easy access to microwave and vending machine * Refrigerator in the room

Review 56:I booked a room online and when I got to the ymca the receptionisttold me that they were fully booked despite the fact that I had aconfirmation for my online booking. The receptionist was very nice butthat experience was highly inconvenient for me since I had paid for acab to get there had I not been able to find any hotel near by, notonly would I have lost my time and money but I would have had tocancel my plans.

Review 57:The bed makes loud noises. There was a guest that I found a little out of touch mentally. I was a little scared since I was in the bathroom alone with her. She sprayed strong chemical solutions everywhere, I couldn't breath, and she had a conversation with herself in a very creepy way.

Review 58:location, location, location and value.

Review 59:They claimed my booking had not gone through (it had) so I could not stay there, and was turfed onto the rather rough neighbourhood. If you must stay there, I recommend booking directly, rather than through booking.com

Review 60:Cleanliness. Although I didn't experience any bugs in my room I did see a dead cockroach on hallway floor. The bathrooms are ok but should really be cleaned and checked on more frequently.

Review 61:My stay here gave me exactly what I needed. I wasn't planning on staying in my room long just to sleep and shower. What I liked about this location is: -subway is 10 min walk away -restaurants are nearby (Asian food & McDonald's up the street) -convenience store a few feet away -mini fridge & tv in room -rooms have heat with option of turning on fan if too hot -access to rooms and bathroom are with key only they automatically lock behind you so don't forget your key at anytime! Perfect for backpacker who is going to spend most of their time exploring the city. Felt safe here.

Review 62:Rudeness

Review 63:Desk clerk was very rude gave us wrong room number and gave housekeeping key to our room at 8 am while we were still sleeping cause they made mistake and checked us out early.

Review 64:The staff we're awesome, super friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable and clean. The whole place has a really good atmosphere, you couldn't aek much more for the price. Flushing is an interesting place too, especially if your into asian food and culture.

Review 65:Thin walls, could hear the woman next door screaming in her phone and the others in the room on the other side talking. Showers very basic.

Review 66:Low price Room was ok, heating and airco worked well.

Review 67:The staff was nice. Enjoyed the swimming pool. The breakfast voucher was good. The building is about a 10 minute walk to the subway and close to shopping.
