Reviews for Governors Inn Hotel Sacramento
Review 1:Even though this Hotel was older, the place was immaculately clean. The location was close to I-5, but still very quiet rooms. The bed was very comfy and the staff was helpful and readily available if needed. The breakfast was just enough. We are planning on staying there again if we are going through Sacramento again.
Review 2:All nearby restaurants have closed. The hotel is close to a homeless shelter making night time walking questionable. The breakfast was minimal, unlike what we experienced in previous stays.
Review 3:We have stayed here several times and have always found the facility, staff and breakfast top quality. However, this most recent stay did not leave us with the same feeling.
Review 4:Nothing. I liked everything.
Review 5:I liked the location and the design of the hotel. It was much larger than it looked from the outside and very well designed. We look forward to staying there again next Christmas.
Review 6:Shower head/pressure need improvement.
Review 7:Everything appeared to be clean. Comfortable bed & pillows. I was concerned about the reviews of "drug dealing" out back which was where our room was but we didnt see anything. There were surveillance cameras and a fence which made me feel more at ease. Free shuttle to airport was a bonus.
Review 8:N/a
Review 9:Personal care about myself ... One night was very cold... I was asking for additional blanket, I got immediately two blankets. Plus they checked if heater was working or not . I was touched. Thank you.
Review 10:Breakfast closes way to early at nine in the morning and the rooms are really old. The toilet seat, whilst very clean clearly showed signs of aging and had two small chips.
Review 11:I liked the ambience and the facilities such as heated pools and water fountains.
Review 12:Homeless people sleeping inside the lobby by the elevator on the couch, with their belongings. Wheres the security in this place. The outside location is suspiciously dangerous with all the street people.
Review 13:Easy access to freeway, clean & comfortable. Price was reasonable.
Review 14:The only thing we didn't feel comfortable with is the many homeless people sleeping on the streets. We did see a hotel employee walking through the hotel parking lot with a flashlight to check that they weren't on the property.
Review 15:The rooms were spacious and the hotel was close to the airport. Friendly staff and firefighters fighting the wildfires stayed at the hotel. Need to thank the hotel for accommodating them.
Review 16:Lovely hotel, built in a historical way. Nice waiting room by reception, library, magazines. Courteous and helpful personell, especially the night reception worker! It is rare that one feels so welcomed while away from home. Spacious rooms, hot tub, excellent soaps, environmentally friendly key cards. Modern air conditioning and fan, good cable TV. Perfect location for light travel just a couple of blocks from bus station and right by the bus stop to the Downtown Sacramento. Gorgeuos trees in the parking lot, tasteful decor and quiet rooms. Did not want to leave and will definitely come back!
Review 17:The location was close to the freeway so it was a bit noisey. The fridge was noisey also so we turned it off.
Review 18:Beds comfy. Room was a good size. The breakfast was good.
Review 19:No decent restaraunts close by, only a Mc Donalds & a Denny's. You had to cross two streets to get to the Denny's you were taking your life in your hands. Traffic was terrible at the crossing.
Review 20:Very clean, great staff, great accomodations. Very nice room & the shuttle service was excellent.
Review 21:the air conditioner was comfortable...just the noise was a little loud...older style...maybe consider adding safety bar(s) in shower and new shower head
Review 22:Very comfortable...didn't look like a chain hotel...located next to police station...not too far from olde town/midtown area
Review 23:The area is right next to a bus depot so very transients but the hotel was quite secure.
Review 24:The towels weren't crunchy!!! Clean, decent room. I felt comfortable enough that I stayed there twice on a road trip.
Review 25:Nice quiet place to stay. Room was roomy and area seems safe. Next to a police station. Much safer than the motels a short distance away, by the river.
Review 26:It's downtown Sac next to the greyhound so lots of homeless BUT it's secure.
Review 27:The towels weren't crunchy!!! It was quiet! The bed was soft and nice. It didn't feel ugly, dirty.
Review 28:Surrounding area is not great, but never had any issues.
Review 29:It is a great location if you have to be at the court house. The breakfast was simple, but it was quick and easy. Plenty of coffee or juice.
Review 30:Would have liked more fruit included in breakfast options; also maybe hardboiled eggs. Would like a small microwave in room, instead of going to first floor to use microwave.
Review 31:Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable bed and pillows. Room was very clean and quiet. Room was nicely decorated. Easy to find and convenient location. Shuttle service was very reliable and timely - we used shuttle for airport pickup. Convenient parking. Nice outdoor pool and hot tub.
Review 32:location is not the best neighborhood, but for us just traveling through it was conveniently located.
Review 33:Friendly staff, breakfast, clean and comfortable.
Review 34:i had a homeless person knock on my car window as soon as I got in it. The breakfast is ok, would like to have peanut butter and some fresh fruit though.
Review 35:I loved the way the house keepers present the towels, Kleenex and toilet paper. Everything was so nicely folded, the face clothes were folded into the shape of a tulip.
Review 36:Fan in bathroom didn't work
Review 37:Great location stop off freeway for traveling through California Value for money. !!!! Great amenities!! Clean ,comfortable ,friendly staff. Better than expected. Wonderful little bonus breakfast!!!!
Review 38:Thin walls, very noisy. Smokers just outside door so smoke came into room. Asked for change of room due to noise, got room reeking of cigarette smoke
Review 39:Easy on / off freeway, but did not make up for smell & noise
Review 40:Location was scary. Homeless were living outside the gate and right next to a police station. Did not feel safe running around.
Review 41:Bed was comfortable & clean
Review 42:Can't think of any negatives.
Review 43:The foyer is well appointed, and the rooms were spacious, comfortable and clean. Staff was very courteous and helpful.
Review 44:Limited breakfast choices. It would have been difficult to get around if you didn't have your own transport.
Review 45:Spacious, well appointed rooms. Great to be able to cool off in the pool after a long day out.
Review 46:My room did smell like curry the first night, but they cleaned the next day and the smell went away.
Review 47:Well maintained. Nice breakfast. Clean, Nice pool.
Review 48:Pool was cold and there was a family of birds that would dive bomb kids for getting close. A lot of homeless around the hotel in front if the McDonald's. The breakfast did not last as long, ended too early.
Review 49:Quiet. Location was right next to the 5 freeway and McDonald's.
Review 50:They shut the pool down, with the temps being in the 90's, for two days!! Maintenance!! Bad timing!! They didn't set their computer up right, so I got a call while we were out saying we were supposed to check out, which was wrong!! Wifi had a horrible signal!!
Review 51:The only thing I liked was the proximity to what we were doing!!
Review 52:Surrounding area
Review 53:Hotel was nice, staff was very nice especially George (I think he was a property management type? But not sure) he was always cleaning or helping customers, very friendly. The surrounding area was a little scary, lots of homeless and would not recommend walking places.
Review 54:There was nothing we didn't like, everything was wonderful, we were very happy with our stay. From proximity to the State Capitol where we had business to terrific Old Town Sac Front Street dining...We enjoyed it all!
Review 55:From check in with Heinz (who is a great asset to your property) to check out and everything in between, we were delighted! Thank you for a wonderful couple of days. I will recommend The Governors Inn to friends and family, as a matter of fact a couple of friends have already stayed with you from my recommendation! :-) :-)
Review 56:Beds were a little hard for my taste but everyone is different.
Review 57:Loved the staff Xa and George were so accommodating and helpful throughout our whole stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 58:I thought it was next to the river from looking at location map, I discovered on our last day that it is near a river park. A short drive or ten mi ute walk.
Review 59:Easy access from freeway and close to downtown.
Review 60:Too many homeless people all around fenced area. Would have liked more restaurants close by. Bath towels didn't smell fresh.
Review 61:Very clean. Room had nice furnishing, good lighting. Used wi-fi alot. Parking lot well lit.
Review 62:Wasn't sure quite what to expect, and I'm not that easily impressed but I loved this hotel. The rooms were spacious, well decorated with a very nice vibe. Excellent value
Review 63:No Kleenex in room. Wish exercise room was bigger with more variety of exercise equipment. No sweat towels or paper towels to wipe off equipment.
Review 64:Very close to where i needed to go for training.
Review 65:The internet connection was terrible. You couldn't even watch a movie.
Review 66:I'm a clean fanatic so, I'd have to say, I did like how clean your facility is.
Review 67:I wish there were restaurants nearby, but the Denny's across the street was good.
Review 68:Staff was ready to help and move on your request(s). Always look for free airport shuttle and breakfasts - I did not see fruit - which I would have liked - but as I was early it may not have been out yet.
Review 69:The location immediately around the hotel has little to offer. It was slim pickings for dining.
Review 70:For fast business trips I spend little time in a room other than to sleep. So spending a lot of the companies money on a room seems silly. This hotel was comfortable and reasonably priced.
Review 71:Check in was easy. Very friendly staff. Due to the time change that night we got up late so they let us have a late check out. Free breakfast was great someone right there putting out more food. Rooms were nice and big. The area was not the greatest. Just be careful at night.
Review 72:From the moment I entered the lobby the place looked neat and tidy. Very welcoming and professional staff. Rooms were very comfortable and functional. I will stay here again when visiting Sacramento.
Review 73:The beds were very uncomfortable, and the breakfast was very limited. I tried to speak with the person at the front about the comfort of the beds, she told me that all the beds were the same and there was nothing that could be done.
Review 74:Our room was very clean and for the most part comfortable. The location was great as it was right off the freeway. Even though the hotel was near the freeway, it was quiet.
Review 75:No real complaints - other than a Denny's, not much within walking distance, and this is some of the facilities will need updating soon. But a solid value for business travel.
Review 76:Nothing fancy here, but courteous staff, free parking, reasonable rates and easy 10 min drive from downtown business and entertainment district. Free WiFi, too.
Review 77:Nothing bad to say.
Review 78:Proximity to freeway and to Old Town without the exorbitant prices of a downtown hotel. Heiner was charming at check-in and gave us a room at the top floor in the back to be away from traffic noise.
Review 79:The wi-fi works, but it was pretty slow at times, most likely due to bandwidth issues. Common problem in hotels, and definitely not a deal-breaker for me.
Review 80:Friendly staff, really clean room, excellent value for the money.
Review 81:I had a room w/ 2 Queen size beds, one looked like the sheets hadn't been changed, the covers pulled up & had been remade.
Review 82:The hotel was right off the freeway. Well lit, secure, plenty of parking. Easy to get to & from my destination.
Review 83:Unfortunately the area seemed a bit dangerous. Getting gas across the street in the night we were watched by a crowd of homeless people. We felt really sad that the city didn't appear to be helping these people find a shelter for the night.
Review 84:We loved everything about the hotel. When you walk in you feel like you are walking into a stately building. The rooms do not feel like hotel rooms but more like a luxurious room in someone's home.
Review 85:Did not find out until we arrived that the lights for the spa were out and it could not be used after dark. Our room overlooked the McDonalds, literally could hear people ordering food at times. Typical continental breakfast, but staff were very friendly.
Review 86:Close to old Sacramento and Sleep train arena. Easy on and off to freeway. Nice spacious room.
Review 87:I came down from my room at midnight to ask for a wine opener. Sure enough, the man at the front desk had one and it was no problem! It may seem like a small thing, buts it's the small things that matter most when I'm staying at a hotel.
Review 88:The bathroom's fan didn't work! The heater was very noisy and didn't let us to sleep!
Review 89:Everything was clean, new stuff , good furniture, big room.
Review 90:No towel replacement the next day (we did put them on the floor). The towel bars needed to be tightened in both rooms. I believe each hotel must have a wheelchair available for guests.
Review 91:The rooms are large and pleasant. Everything was clean. Even thought the hotel is close to roads and fast food, it is quiet.
Review 92:Only thing I wish was better is that they had opened the Continental Buffet earlier as we had to fly out when we went home and missed it . But thats not a real issue .
Review 93:The Day manager was very helpful in getting us into our rooms quickly after our long flight and when we asked for suggestions for a light dinner . he not only gave us a few suggestions he wrote direction for us. All the staff was friendly . The morning Continental Breakfast was good and they served fresh bagels that rivaled NYC Bagels in quality ..
Review 94:While this has gotten better, the water temperature varies during a shower. It is not quite so dramatic of a change.
Review 95:1. Accessible to freeway 2. Accessible to downtown SAC without having to pay downtown hotel prices for lodging, parking or wi-fi. 3. Th rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. 4. Stay includes a continental breakfast. 5. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Review 96:I didn't like staying on the side were mcdonalds was. You heard the intercom of the drive thru at 5:00AM and it was very loud.
Review 97:For the price it was a great hotel to stay and very close to downtown sacramento which made it a lot easier for me.
Review 98:Very strong cleaning solution was used for the carpets with specific odour
Review 99:Rustic feel to the place, but all in all - well maintained, with very spacious rooms.
Review 100:The staff was great' very polite, helpful. When i needed a rollaway bed staff brought it in less than 10 minutes' The room was clean and pleasant. Breakfast was great' there was something for everyone. When you have children they can be very choicey. They loved the make your own waffles. would recommend to other's.
Review 101:Industrial area People congregating in front of hotel
Review 102:Bed comfortable Good room amenities Satisfactory Breakfast Ease of access to freeway and airport
Review 103:The elevator sounded as though it needed to be serviced...kind of loud.
Review 104:I liked that our room felt spacious and was very clean. The hotel also felt safe
Review 105:leaving and having to write 200 characters which is far to much like hard work when great really says it all. If you dont change this soon I wont bother leaving comments because it gets boring
Review 106:Near to Aftershock which was reaaaaalllllllllllllllly good and great but I dont really want to go on for 200 characters minimum
Review 107:The breakfast was purely carbohydrate based. As a meat-lover I felt it would have been great to see some bacon.
Review 108:The hotel was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The shuttle was essential and convenient. Later on in my trip I actually returned to the Governor's Inn and recommended it to 2 colleagues, who also ended up staying there.
Review 109:Nothing.
Review 110:Nice lobby. Breakfast was included and was plentiful and fresh. Loved the birds, Ronnie and Nancy that live in a cage by the door. Able to walk to Denny's and Mac Donald's for a snack. Would absolutely recommend.
Review 111:nothing
Review 112:I wasn't expecting much from this hotel but my wife and I were pleasantly surprised by the value for money. Very clean according to my wife. Continental breakfast was quite extensive.
Review 113:My wive and I stayed on a Friday night and were looking forward to the breakfast only to find out it closes at 9:30 am!!! We showed up at about 9:35 the staff looked at us,didn't even offer Us coffee.
Review 114:The breakfast time is too short. It should be extended until 10:00am. Also, When my cell fell down to the floor, when looking for it, I found some pills under the bed, good thing my child is 6 and not a toddler.
Review 115:I liked the cleanliness of the room, the comfort and the good value for money. I had a very quality of sleep, and most of all for the service.
Review 116:Continental breakfast was okay, nothing to get excited about. Hotel is a little out of the way. Wifi was patchy at best in the rooms, but good in the lobby
Review 117:The shuttle was very convenient and the staff were pleasant all the time. Great beds, super comfortable.
Review 118:Location wasn't the greatest. Great place to stay if you don't want to walk around outside the hotel.
Review 119:Rooms were excellent. Hotel was big, spacious and very clean. Staff was very helpful. Got a shuttle downtown and picked us up when we called. Hotel was excellent and glad we found it.
Review 120:Continental breakfast ended promptly at 9:30 a.m. There is a $50 deposit per day. A sign is posted at the front desk. I don't remember seeing this online. Man at the front desk didn't have much of a personality.
Review 121:Nice room. Comfortable bed. Clean hotel. Conveniently located next to McDonalds. Near the freeway.
Review 122:Air freshener made the hotel smell like a bathroom. Also room needs fresh air to be circulated.
Review 123:The breakfast support staff for the self serve breakfast bar.
Review 124:Room I was staying in had poor Wi-Fi connection which seems that have been turned off at night because a good strong signal was available in the morning.
Review 125:Room was clean and comfortable.
Review 126:Facility was older, our shower door was broken and no one repaired during our stay. We had a bad housekeeper one day who left a dirty rag on the sink. breakfast was not very good.
Review 127:Staff was friendly and not too busy. Great pool
Review 128:Locks on the doors hesitate to turn green most of the time and have to keep putting the card in repeatedly. The breakfast could be a little more diverse adding some protein.
Review 129:The room was spacious and clean , quiet and safe. Pool was nice, clean and well maintained. Lobby area was very large and felt inviting for a nice book and a nap. The staff were quick to respond to our needs and friendly. Overall a nice place to stay.
Review 130:hot in the room, even with fan switched on the maximum speed. Breakfast was poor
Review 131:comfortable room with big and good bed. It was very clean and quit. Location of hotel is not a perfect, especially if you are planning to spend whole day in the old town without car, but there is a good trail not far from hotel.
Review 132:Nothing much.
Review 133:comfortable, quiet, and helpful staff (especially the manager from Hawaii who let my mother-in-law stay in our room after check out time).
Review 134:These are only minor dislikes that do not in anyway detract from the overall quality and comfort offered by this hotel. In the dining area it would be great to also have sugar-free syrup for those of us who need to limit our sugar intake. The wifi seemed a bit slow.
Review 135:Comfortable and spacious room. Friendly staff. Great continental breakfast selections and dining area. Swimming pool and spa are very relaxing. This will be our hotel of choice for any subsequent stays in the Sacramento area.
Review 136:It seems a bit dark in the rooms (due to color of woodwork, carpet & furnishings), also in the passageways.
Review 137:Staff were friendly & helpful, our room was clean.
Review 138:Area had lots of homeless did not feel safe to walk around
Review 139:The room was clean and had coffe machine, soap, shampoo, refrigerator, plenty of towels
Review 140:Large rooms,
