Reviews for President Hotel
Review 1:Construction was going on, the room was noisy, we were able to hear our neighbors talking at 3 AM. Check-in queue was almost 1 hour long, the receptionist was working very slowly. Parking at the hotel is $45 per night
Review 2:Location was excellent, right next to the beach
Review 3:There was a constant noise as they were under construction/repair. Cleanliness was terrible, breakfast is limited options, rooms have no noise insulation.
Review 4:The location of this property is good.
Review 5:- Cannot open windows or otherwise get fresh air in the room! They said to use the AC to 'freshen up the room' - Housekeeper insulted us for no reason on the second day. She yelled: "shut the f**k up" when we were talking to our kids. - Noisy. Can hear people talking in adjacent room. - The included Continental Breakfast is pathetic: toast, jam, sliced cheese, coffee, milk, tea, frozen yogurt, some cereal, some pastries. The have other things, but they cost extra. Tip not included.
Review 6:Lower cost compared to most other hotels. Room was clean and smelled of chlorine when we checked in. Low early check-in fee. Close to the beach. Beach towels at the reception. Mirror wall in the room gives impression of more space.
Review 7:It's not that I didn't like, but would have appreciated an additional blanket and some shelves and hooks for more storage space.
Review 8:Location couldn't be better, staff is very helpful and nice, the room, the bed and pillow, so confortable and clean. The shower is "powerfull"!! Our room was 204 with a view on the terrasse behind, so very quiet. Breakfast is ok.
Review 9:Tatty reception not very welcoming, lift didn't work (we were on the 4th floor). on check out was charged 120 dollars for parking.(we don't have a car!).
Review 10:Location brilliant close to ocean drive, Room with terrace and round bed was good.
Review 11:Elevator wasn't working for 2 days without a fast maintenance.
Review 12:The stuff are awesome specially Omar at the reciption, michale&pedro at the bar and also charles, the location is awesome close to everything in south beach..i had a beautiful stay at president hotel.
Review 13:Slow elevator,and dosent work ...
Review 14:Location is good,5min by walk to beach ☀️ WI-FI its okey. Room is Big. Good Big bed as well. Around shops, tmarket.
Review 15:Immediately at check in the attitude seemed to be to charge for everything, obviously this is not unusual but it should be perhaps a little less blatant. If you arrive off a flight and turn up before 3pm they will Charge you 10 usd per hour to go to your room even it's available - I've never stayed in a hotel anywhere in the world (fortunately) that has done that and it immediately makes you realise they are trying to desperately increase the room income from you. Normally a hotel may charge for late checkout but not make you wait to check in when you know rooms are free that if they fleece you for 50 USD you could avail yourself of. The attitude at reception is not particularly professional they really just process you there is no real 'service' to it. I wouldn't stay there again. Oh they have two buildings so find out which one they are putting you in. The decor is nice but they have wooden floors and you can hear upstairs thudding around so if you do stay get a top floor
Review 16:The rooms were nicely designed and clean but .........
Review 17:The water was either too cold or too hot. They did not change the sheets everyday they simply made the bed. The room seemed smaller than the pictures. The bathroom was tiny. Not enough room for four people sharing one room
Review 18:The entire staff was friendly. I enjoyed the proximity to the beach and restaurants.
Review 19:I was given 1 double bed when I had asked for 2. I had to really insist to get what I wanted. I was charged every time I booked even though I cancelled in time and I finally got all my refunds after more than a month and many reminders. In the end, because of the difference in the exchange rates at the time I was charged and refunded, I lost about 15 euro !!
Review 20:Excellent location
Review 21:We stayed in an unfinished building. Also, there were some guys working beside our window. It was not very comfortable..
Review 22:The staff was okay and the location is pretty good.
Review 23:Lika many hotels on South Beach value for money is low. The room is clean and looks great on pictures, but in reality it is worn and torn. Breakfast is poor. Noisy as South beach is but with no sound insulation on door or windows you need ear plugs.
Review 24:Location is great at Collins Avenue. Close to beach and Ocean Drive.
Review 25:Reception. There's only 1 person in there at all times and everyday, At 11, everyone check out, and there's a line - so you have to wait. At 3, everyone wants to check in, so you wait again. It's really annoying. Also, our room was brand new, but the entrance was 50 feet down the street from the reception, what was weird.
Review 26:Location and energetic staff
Review 27:Good location. We has a suite that was a newley decorated room. Very spacious and modern. Staff was helpful. Flash the young guy in reception was most helpfull : ) Breakfast was fine and the drinks was good value. Free wi fi through out.
Review 28:They gave us a room in the next door building which they call the "President Villa". Unfortunately, next door a whole new building is being rebuilt and work started at 7am.... from that time no one could sleep or rest with all the construction work. It was terrible. Also the new bedrooms are not cozy at all.
Review 29:The hotel is tired, reception and the corridors to the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation and the breakfast is a bit limited. To say it is continental is stretching things a bit. Also, I left something in the room and the hotel won't return it to me.
Review 30:The bedroom was fine with a great balcony and view.
Review 31:The room decor was horrible. Looked like a large prison room. Absolutely no comfortable chairs to sit on in the room. No view from our room. The television was very small, as the distance from the bed to the TV was far from each other. Elevator was extremely small. Hallways smelled. Simply a "very old" hotel.
Review 32:The area was very central to shopping and eateries. The breakfast bar was not bad but the coffee was extremely strong.
Review 33:There were HOLES in the wall and my entry door to my room fell off of the hinges. The maintenance man came immediately, but I wasn't expecting anything like that the first hour that I stayed on the property. I wasn't happy and didn't feel safe!
Review 34:Located in the heart of South Beach
Review 35:Few dirty towels found in room - looked like makeup stains from previous user. It did seem like towels had been washed but maybe not bleached.
Review 36:Great location, clean sparse room good for short trip.
Review 37:I stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago and thought it was fine, so I was happy to book it again, but this time it was disappointing. Firstly, the bathroom was tiny and the shower leaked badly unless the handle was really heaved on, almost to the point of twisting it off! The breakfast selection was also poor and there weren't enough spoons. The room was noisy, not just from construction, which is outside the hotel's control, but from guests. Our door didn't block out any noise from the hall and our room was opposite the lift/elevator, so we could hear every conversation of every group of guests while they waited for their lift. In fact, the door lock barely held the door closed, one firm push and anyone could have forced it open.
Review 38:Location, free drink on first night, laid back staff
Review 39:Extra cost for bacon and eggs at breakfast Charging more than booking.com at check-in
Review 40:We were 4 people in two beds in a very small room. Nice staff, thanks to Mr. Triston for sharing his amazing music and perfect service! Location was super, rooms were quiet and had a modern style. The breakfast was a little poor, you had to pay extra for bacon and eggs. The room was so small, there was no room for our bags. Nice and clean though. Look out for how much they charge you when you make the reservation. They only charged us for the first night out of six nights. Then, at check-in, the hotel ended up charging more than booking.com did..
Review 41:The hotel is very noisy. You can hear through the walls and the staff talked loudly in the hallways. It was difficult to sleep due to all the noise. The complementary breakfast was awful.
Review 42:The location is great. The hotel is only one block from Ocean Drive and close to shops and restaurants.
Review 43:They advised that the free welcome drinks could be gotten at the Penguin as well as the President hotel. When we went to the Penguin they said we could only redeem them at the President. They were a bit iffy about it and kicked up a stink, but after a minute said alright.
Review 44:The location was great, walking distance to everything around SOBE, Lincoln Road was a 15 minute walk away, and the Art Deco District was just down the road for a 1hr return stroll.
Review 45:Breakfast was appalling. Stale bread, stale pastries, lack of options. Hotel needs an update, rooms aren't very clean, sink would always clog, toiletries were never replenished, television wasn't working properly, walls are paper thin, floors were never cleaned, halls had a damp smell.
Review 46:Location and staff were the only positives.
Review 47:It didn't look like it picture it was old and in the picture the room looked bigger the elevator was scary
Review 48:The bed was comfortable the staff were nice it was right in the heart of the things
Review 49:Excellent location. Friendly, accommodating staff. They kept my luggage for me before and after booking in and out. Clean room with lovely balcony. Value for money.
Review 50:The rooms were tiny like New York and the bathroom was way too small. I could barely move.
Review 51:Clean rooms and staff at the bar was very friendly! Miquel is awesome!!
Review 52:first of all, the room looks NOTHING like what was in the picture. In the pictures the room looks very modern and presents a minimalist kind of style, and that's absolutely misleading. what it actually is: CHEAP, from the material of the linens, to the decor. I was so disappointed that I felt I was lied to.And there was no furniture to put any of your stuff. All you get is a tiny night stand and a chair, which was also very flimsy cheap looking. and worst of all, the room smells really bad, it had a overpowering chemical smell. On top of that, the wall is VERY thin and whenever there's people walking in the hallway we can hear it. To make it worse we happened to have some very loud neighbors and my husband was woken up at 2:00am and had to call the front desk.
Review 53:Location is good. Very close to the beach and restaurants
Review 54:Most simple breakfast included, but even though you can pay for extras and pimp it up a bit, the setting remains youth-hostel style.
Review 55:Price for location just okay, friendly staff
Review 56:The outside and reception area but don't be fooled rooms are nice. I turned the heat on and for the rest of the night there was this horrible smell.
Review 57:My kids said, "Mommy the rooms are so nice but the outside and downstairs look bad." Great location. One block from the beach and within walking distance to all the restaurants, bars, etc.
Review 58:The beds are a bit hard, and the water pressure in the showers sucked. There is only 1 ice machine in the entire place.
Review 59:The location is great. Decent place to stay with friends. Plenty of room and space.
Review 60:Photos of the hotel don't match up to what you get and see when you arrive. Wifi was rubbish and rarely connected. The air con in the room is located behind the curtain, so no privacy and blinding light every morning. Other buildings opposite hotel can see into the bathroom as there are no blinds or curtains. Construction site next door to hotel started work at 7am every morning!
Review 61:Location was pretty central of the beach, bars, restaurants and shops. Buses easily accessible if you wanted to venture further into Miami. Staff were friendly.
Review 62:- air-conditioner in the room very noisy - poor breakfast: only coffee, juice, milk, cereals, oranges and apples. Anything on top of that, you had to pay extra.
Review 63:good location - next to the beach and the shops
Review 64:Older hotel, in need of a makeover; most staff not speaking English as first language which caused problems with more complicated issues; no tea/coffee making facilities; creaking old lift; no car park, valet parking only.
Review 65:Good location, decent size room
Review 66:Terrible staff, especially curly women at the front desk. At the front desk they keep bothering you for everything and its always a mess. Free Breakfast is a joke with one cream cheese bagel and coffee. You have to pay deposit of a 100$ for each day of stay. 7 days - 700$. What you see on the pictures and reality is totally different. Very upset. Waste of money/.
Review 67:Nothing.
Review 68:The toilet clogged but they came and fixed it really fast.
Review 69:The room was great. The staff was GREATER! Check in with Sanya was amazing. We arrived VERY early, so Charlie took amazing care of our bags -- we came back 3 times and dug in those things! Maiquel was absolutely the BEST bartender -- just ask him for an original -- oh my! Dan made sure we got free passes to Mangoes and Tristan was as sweet as can be. We truly felt like VIPs!
Review 70:The staff needs training. They were inattentive and when I came down for their free breakfast, I received the 3rd degree. Without asking, they assumed I walked in from the street to get some free cereal! The breakfast was less than most motels do, no hot dishes, just cereal, boxed pastries, toast, oatmeal. The hotel is on the street and quite noisy in my room.
Review 71:The two free drinks were a plus. The central location is good, and close to the beach.
Review 72:AC had horrible smell coming from it...smelled moldy and give us a sore throat. Housekeeping never cleaned the shower. The bathroom was tiny and poorly lit.
Review 73:Close to the beach and shops. Room had mini fridge.
Review 74:I would t call breakfest continental..BUT just breakfest. Word continental created another expectation (not only to me butI also saw other guests surprised and askinhg whether it is all)TOAST, BUTTER, MARMELADE, cornflakes, oats, apple, orange, JUICE, TEA/COFFEE. Overall it was ok but the first impression for europians...not to see eggs, ham etc.included in continental breakfest, was surprise.
Review 75:Bathroom seems is a bit small, there are no space to put toiletry stuffs. I think breakfast is a bit disappointed overall! Not many choice of bread, cereals. Best to provide some mix fruits, yogurt and nuts items.
Review 76:We stayed for two nights Fri & Sat. Bed is big and comfy cool aircon,we had a goodnight sleep! We were happy for the bartender to offer us a nice cup of tea every night when we asked since room has no tea/coffee kettle provided.
Review 77:The poor experience started when I arrived! There is no access ramp and you need to pull your over-sized bag three steps to get to the lobby (that was mold smelling, looks old and dirty), then I had to wait for almost 20 minutes to check in because they were not finding the reservation! Got a breakfast voucher and a "welcome drink" voucher for 2 (that you pay in the "resort fee". The guy that did my check in said that I was able to get one drink each day, since I was not intend to have a double drink in the first night but when I hit the bar later that night the barman took the voucher after the first drink and said that it was not possible to get the second drink later! After checked in, I was conducted to my room! Had to leave the hotel and walk with my bag half block to another building! Entered the building by the emergency exit in the side (that is open all the time)! The room was simple but was nice! You can see that was renovated and still smells like fresh paint (had to buy a scented candle in Walgreens across the street to be able to sleep there)! The internet connection was terrible. Listed as a 3 star hotel, does not look like a 1 star! Do not recommend!
Review 78:The room was renovated and look new and clean
Review 79:The attitude of the manager was pathetic. She was rude and arrogant and threatening!! A german lady. Has no idea what customer service is!!!! I will make sure to tell as many people that i know how terrible she is. Its a wonder the hot has clients!! We pay her salary!
Review 80:Linen could have been changed more often. Shower was not cleaned at all.
Review 81:Free welcome drinks, free beach towels, free water every day, free breakfast. Great staff, thank you Omar, Nice housekeeping (Marisol!) and maintenance (Hector!) We could even see a bit of the ocean drive from our bathroom window. Comfortable beds, nice room, cable tv
Review 82:The staff hardly knew any general information. The bed was not soft, the comp beach towels were extremely old and worse quality.
Review 83:The mirrors in the room were good with good lightning
Review 84:Small elevator that seemed a little worn. We had a hard time getting the balcony sliding door open.
Review 85:Nice spacious room with a balcony. Comfortable bed, nice size television and the ac worked great. We would definitely stay again.
Review 86:Breakfast wasn't great and the extra charges for incidentals, parking etc added a lot more to the price of our stay.
Review 87:Fabulous location, couldn't get any better really!
Review 88:There needs to be a dresser to put toilet and other articles on since there is no place in the bathroom even for a toothbrush!!!!! There is plenty of room under the TV in front of the mirror for one.
Review 89:Well located
Review 90:This is a party town. Some guests mistook their room for a nightclub, however the staff dealt with the disturbance quickly.
Review 91:Location is excellent for Miami beaches and Art Deco areas. Staff were all very helpful.
Review 92:Our room wasn't cleaned everyday . We had to ask for clean towels everyday and on check out they charged my credit card for makeup on towels. Got my money back after a lot of hassle.
Review 93:Great location!!!
Review 94:Absolutely lack of parking. Available a valet parking pretty close by, but with crazy prices.
Review 95:Amazing round bed in a really nice painted room. Good location in South Beach Miami, walking distance to the beaches and to the restaurants.
Review 96:Lovely staff and good location. Rooms ok but air con awful. Room smelt of damp. But fine for one night, and the staff make it a really fun place to stay.
Review 97:Sometimes the housekeeping is not as neat as I would like.
Review 98:This hotel is perfect for its location, near to the most visited places in Miami Beach. The rooms are nice and bright and the staff is always very kind.
Review 99:It booked at the last minute and once I arrived to check-in, the gentleman working the front desk was all over the place. I would have also preferred to pay by bill at check-out and not as soon as I checked-in.
Review 100:After walking into the hotel I was skeptical but once I got to the room I was very surprised by the size and its simplicity.
Review 101:They wouldn't give us additional towels, mold in the shower, small bugs crawling on desk. Booking.com did not tell you about the deposit up front
Review 102:Location
Review 103:Noisy, no sound-proof, could easily hear the people next door. Musty-smelly hotel. Ok for party animals but not suitable for families. The included breakfast sucked.
Review 104:The location is close to Ocean Drive.
Review 105:The hotel didn't provide any towels and we had to ask every single time if we need to use one. And the staff just gave only one and he said: "sorry we don't have anymore." The property doesn't have any chair to sit on... no second time
Review 106:close to downtown and nice location
Review 107:When I booked this hotel, I stated that it was for 2 Adults and 2 Children. And was quoted a price, but when we reached the hotel the price was different. They stated that they did not have that information and that it was just for 2 Adults. And ultimately it ended up costing us more for the room, and we had to pay additional money for parking ( valet service ). So instead of the 120.00, it was more like 200.00.
Review 108:no carpet TV small no table space/one small waste basket in the restroom restroom small/ no space to put belongings not clean hair n dust balls all over
Review 109:location was decent~ loved sitting outside on the porch area to watch the fun city
Review 110:I reserved 2 queen beds for 3 people through booking.com. As soon as I saw the confirmation was showing 1 bed for 1 person, I contacted booking.com and President hotel. After over 4 hours! on hold and with people, I was told nothing could be done. No upgrade, refund or correction. This caused unnecessary stress. I was told there were no other rooms available. Upon arrival, I was immediately switched to a room for 3 with 2 double beds. It seems customer service is only provided to people at the front desk. Our wi-fi was so slow in the room it was useless. We were told service would be provided but no-one ever did anything about it. Worst cable selection of 5 hotels in our 4 week trip. No microwave although advertised. Reservation included parking, but the hotel charges $32 per night!
Review 111:The room was clean and it was a short walk to the beach and shopping. The room was quiet.
Review 112:My only but small problem my tv wasn't working properly but I' not really looking the tv so didn't care very much ! And the fact the wall are so thin you can here easily your next door
Review 113:Location is perfect ! Close to the beach and nigh time ! The staff are really helpful welcoming . The room are really clean
Review 114:Hidden fees rip off since you get nothing for this resort fee. This is obviously no resort!!!
Review 115:Watch out for hidden resort fee $25 once checking out. Breakfast was terrible, but the bed was confortable. Close to beach.
Review 116:Main issue was the breakfast which was pretty awful but there are lots of places to eat locally so not a real problem. The decor could do with refreshing.
Review 117:We were upgraded to a large room with a large balcony and huge round bed which was great. The room was clean, in a good location and a reasonable price.
Review 118:Nothing. I always enjoy every minute of my trip when I stay here.
Review 119:I come to South Beach for vacation about two to three times a year. For the least three years, every time I have come, I have stayed at The President Hotel. It is very clean, the staff is ALWAYS friendly and willing to help, and the location is perfect. Close to Lincoln Road Mall, the beach, and many food joints! The rooms have great decor and the room is always affordable!
Review 120:Continental Breakfast wasn't much. I would have liked even a lil bacon... :(
Review 121:Receptionist Martha really went all out to make us comfortable and happy! Bartender Michael was great, too!
Review 122:The booking agent mistakenly told us the President had restaurant style, made to order breakfast when it was actually only available at the sister hotel, the Penguin. To rectify the mistake, the President gave us breakfast vouchers for the Penguin. When we went to the Penguin to redeem them, they attempted to not accept them, were rude when I persisted & ultimately brought us food with bugs in it. Stick with the President!
Review 123:Modern, clean room with lush view. Great location, personnel & perks (free drinks, awesome soaps, etc.).
Review 124:Breakfast wasn't great. Toasts were basic and sometimes dried, cheese poor quality, no ham at all. Pastries were very basic ans poor quality/dried. Coffee, yogurt, cereals and pieces of fruit ok. The apartment was clean but not soptless.
Review 125:Location was great, rooms were nice. Public parking just one block away ($1.75 p/hour and free between 3am to 9am) or valet parking ($32 per day).
Review 126:The continental breakfast wasn't that great.
Review 127:I liked that it was clean and close to the beach and it wasn't very expensive. They gave a free welcome drink.
Review 128:Only thing is check out wad way to early, but they do accommodate you and take your bags for the day. No pool
Review 129:Amazing location very clean. Lovely staff. Over all it was a great hotel and will return
Review 130:When my husband went back to the hotel room and forgot what room we were in and the cleaners were going to call security on him.
Review 131:The hotel was a trendy , very helpful and happy staff.
Review 132:The room wasn't worth the money paid at all!
Review 133:The Staff was amazing and always were there to help. Also the location was right by the beach so not bad.
Review 134:Hidden fee. When booking my flight there was no disclosure of $19 per person resort fee. There also no mention of the $35 parking fee. The doors do not properly close and can open easily with a little bump. I requested no room service but the attendant entered the rooms anyway.
Review 135:The staff was very nice.
Review 136:The free breakfast had bland oatmeal and honey that tasted funny unlike back home. The resort area wasn't much to look at and not worth the extra money.
Review 137:The room was huge and had lots of open space. The green plant scenery covering one entire wall looked just like it did in the photos! The staff all did their job serving us well. Even the cleaning lady greeted us as we saw her multiple times. Close to the beach was a plus for us
Review 138:The billing was confusing. Charged for parking. ( this adds to the price of room). Cc deposit not released timely.
Review 139:The atmosphere, the mood, the other guests were ready to have fun. The hotel was simple and classic.
Review 140:The bathroom was very small, the breakfast was ok, but there should be a bit more variety. I didn't like that there was no kettle or tea/coffee facilities in the room.
Review 141:The best thing was that you were very near to the beach.
Review 142:If you are use to sleeping on hardwood floors, this is the place for you! The beds are the hardest I have ever slept on! We had to beg for wash clothes and towels everyday! I have stayed in many of the boutique hotels on south beach and this is the worst ever.
