Reviews for Patara Prince Hotel & Resort - Special Category

Review 1:4/09-14/09 most of the bars and restaurant's were closed. No wine by the glass ,poor Turkish £25 a bottle .Poor atmosphere in restaurant ,lack of guests. Staff weren't too happy either.50 min for a Caesar salad

Review 2:It was an amazing hotel, well designed and could have been great if the manager had turned up for work. Look out for great deals

Review 3:The hotel was very short of staff and facilities, it was still open season but on our visit to the bar/restaurant there was hardly anything available including change from our purchase !

Review 4:BEAUTIFUL LOCATION, EXCELLENT VIEWS.

Review 5:This hotel is located in a wonderful spot, with beautiful architecture and gardens. Mediterranean Terrace Room was very nice. Hotel certainly needs renovation but it didn't disturb us at all. There was almost nobody, it was quiet and very nice. Beginning of October is the best time, air temperature was 25-30, sea was warm, everything was very nice for us. Not a suitable place for people with walking difficulties. Sink needs attention.

Review 6:Our room was not cleaned on the last full day we were at the hotel - even after asking the front desk to clean at 5 pm. Boat taxi (into town) schedule was intermittent at best - not reliable. Wi Fi was out for most of the 4 nights.

Review 7:Loved the location; the GR Supervisor, Mehmet was outstanding - you could always observe him running around taking care of issues. Platforms around the Med and the pool were great.

Review 8:Some problems with the wifi, but only in certain areas, others were fine.

Review 9:The hotel is brilliant, the pool gorgeous and the food (breakfast in particular) was excellent. Staff are helpful always. Views are just stunning. We stayed in a suite which was large and comfortable. It is the second time we've been and really loved it.

Review 10:The world do was rarely available and some of the staff appeared disinterested and sullen to many of the guests.

Review 11:Most of the facilities and things on offer.

Review 12:The service in the poolside restaurant at lunch was chaotic and the wine all too sweet. They admitted they had no dry white or rose´. This is only a minor gripe from an enjoyable stay.

Review 13:The Reception Supervisor Mehmet Kirçil was particularly helpful over the matter of a defective aircon unit and allowing us to use the terrace and pool above our suite. We particularly enjoyed sitting there with the stupendous views of the bay.

Review 14:The staff! The service was dreadful, non-existent! Arrogant and totally unaccommodating to our needs - food was mediocre and well over priced compared to the restaurants in town which were amazing. Lack of stock in the bars - no sense of urgency, no sense of customer satisfaction, appalling and very disappointing - full email complaint to follow.

Review 15:The hotel location which was stunning, could not fault the views - spectacular!

Review 16:Claimed a la carte restaurant so really looking forward to dining on this gorgeous terrace overlooking sea eating a gorgeous meal. But staff had very poor attitude with no help or service...we had to pull teach to get help....then the food menu was more of a cafe and we actually asked oh I thought this is a la carte but this was no a la carte menue....had doubts food or service but ordered fresh pizza first as they had on site pizzeria and thought this has to be good....tasted like stodgy bread with thick lashed on stodgy cheese...lumpy bumpy and only 3 pepperoni pieces.....so bad had to leave it.....they had no wine to sell by the glass......only wanted one and could not have it without buying whole bottle at £30.00 time that was the type level of cheap wine sold in England at £6.00 ....This restaurant really brought down our whole experience.....we so loved everything else....so dropped the restaurant and went to Kalkan village and had fabulous steak in a cream and brandy sauce with white wine by the glass on one of the lovely cobbled paving streets.....why in such a lovely idealist setting could Patara Palace not offer a decent restaurant.... Well the restaurant ombiance was decent just the worst food and service I have ever experienced in Turkey....and guess what they added on a 10% service charge which I said actually I do not want to pay this addition as your restaurant does not deserve it....they pretended not to understand English...well of course the only way they can get a tip is through compulsory add on service because the poor standard of food and service they would never earn a tip from anyone. {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252 {\fonttbl\f0\fnil\fcharset0 .HelveticaNeueInterface-Regular;} {\colortbl;\red255\green255\blue255;\red88\green86- \blue214;} \deftab720 \pard\pardeftab720\partightenfactor0 \f0\fs34 \cf2 \expnd0\expndtw0\kerning0 \outl0\strokewidth0 \strokec2 }

Review 17:Reception staff, car valet to car park...great room decor really individual ..gardens scenery views pool sunbathing areas and sea swimming at location lovely Amalfi Coast feel...really classy...air of sophistication ....instant impact of wow..great breakfast...

Review 18:With small children it's a bit hard to move from location to location- very steep and long walks

Review 19:Loved the location, friendliness of staff, rooms, all round experience

Review 20:Only few numbers of the staff speaks English and not very well, poor knowledge in emergency situations ihad one while i was there. The room facilities was old and it was so hot i called the technical department i had waited for 2 hours and and when they came didn't fix anything!!!! ... So i stayed for 4 night in hot room (i called the reception they did nothing!!!)

Review 21:I like the view of the room and the whole property, nice place... breakfast was good

Review 22:it is located in a hilly terrain. It is quite an hike to go to the beach. There is a shuttle but it is not frequent and sometimes full

Review 23:The beach is nice

Review 24:We found the staff despite English being difficult for many would go out of their way to find someone to translate our requests. Every little thing was done with a huge smile across the board...reception, restaurant, pool attendants, cleaners etc. Nothing was a problem and the over all feel was that they truly wanted you to have a relaxing , happy stay . The older rooms are a little tired however to us it all added to the charm. The views , gardens and location are simply stunning. A big bonus was the adults only pool and that both pools were salt water.....fabulous. It should be noted that there are a lot of steps in the resort so not suitable to anyone who is not able.

Review 25:A lot of the staff had little or no English which made it very difficult for them and us as guests. Too many steps from hotel to pool area. Shower was very small, needs to be updated

Review 26:Bedroom had beautiful view. Pool area and gardens. Treatments in the Spa were brilliant, the best Turkish bath I have had

Review 27:This place is heaven on earth. It doesn't look like that on pictures but it was a plesant surprise! Beautiful beach and sea, smiling staff, everything makes it a perfect place for a vacation. Coming back here next year for sure!

Review 28:Beakfast was advertised to start at 8.00am, Didn't get anything till 8.30 as they were not set up, normally wouldn't be an issue, but we had to leave to catch a plane by 8.45. My childrens air conditioning was intermittent, so lucky we were only staying the one night.

Review 29:We stayed for only one night at the end of our holiday. Beautiful Location, but lots of steps to negotiate to the pool area. Got an upgrade which was a very nice suprise :)

Review 30:The location was perfect, such beautiful views from everywhere you looked. The staff could not do enough for you and the room was cleaned every day with fresh towels.

Review 31:The rooms were quite small, the air conditioning was ok?!? They didn't really cool the room enough, and our fridge didn't work however they did replace it straight away.

Review 32:The location of the property was fantastic with breathtaking views over Kalkan bay and the town centre. So glad we paid a little more to have sea views from our balcony.

Review 33:The bathroom is a bit old and dated and probably need a make-over.

Review 34:Great view! the platforms at the sea are so nice, it feels like your own, private platform and sea. Nice staff, guestmanager was really helpful and would answer all our questions and helped us with doing some telephonecalls in Turkish. Nice bedroom with a comfortable bed. The food was really good. We had dinner included and we were allowed to choose a 3 or 4 cours meal from the menu, so we had the feeling that the weren't prepared for 'dinner included' (but we didn't have any problems with that). (don't forget to taste the chocolat souffle) There is a pool for adults (16 and older), so no noisy kids when you're relaxing at the pool.

Review 35:Shocking hotel service, appalling hotel food, tired hotel room, broken balcony furniture/patio door, inept and unhelpful staff, antique air con unit.

Review 36:Kalkan and the hotel grounds.

Review 37:Water for the shower could have been warmer

Review 38:The staff were all very friendly, helpful and at the same time very professional. They made our stay very enjoyable.

Review 39:Only one restaurant was open (stayed in June), spa was a little old, AC in the room was weak

Review 40:Great location with incredible views from all around the resort. The sun ledges were great for lounging and drinking. The pool areas were clean. The room had a great view but could use a little updating.

Review 41:Mosquitoes and leaving

Review 42:Everything. Fabulous location, lovely room which was cleaned every day, with amazing views, very good food, great swimming pools, plenty of sunbeds with secluded private terraces, excellent staff who were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble

Review 43:Was slightly out of season, so slightly restricted menu etc.

Review 44:walkable to Kalkan, but quiet. Very friendly staff, willing to do their best. 2 main pools, one adult only. Beautiful sea Like a little old town, but well kept and modern plumbing

Review 45:The rooms were tired. Ours wasn't cleaned for the first two days until we complained! Staff miserable and surly and lacking in motivation! No sign of management!

Review 46:The platforms next to the sea were great!

Review 47:We were booked for just one night at the hotel as we were booked into an apartment for the rest of our stay. The booking deal was evening meal with bed and breakfast. As we arrived late, just after midnight we missed the evening meal. I asked if we could take it another night or any other time like lunch, and told no. I was disappointed especially as they were aware we were staying at the resort and would be using the other restaurants- not the way to keep Patara Prince Resort returning customers happy...

Review 48:Comfy room and welcome- We arrived just after midnight, helped to our room which was nice

Review 49:Staff were fabulas . Great location . Clean .food just ok but not bad at all . This hotel has had unfair bad reviews!!! We got more than we paid for and happy . We would go back .

Review 50:Tv didn't work. Reported it several times at reception and repeatedly told they were waiting for 'cards'! Steep walk up from swimming pools!

Review 51:Balcony with sea view was lovely. Could see the lights of Kalkan town at night while lying in bed, Stunning! Plenty of Sun beds, choice of swimming pools. Lovely peaceful location. Would certainly stay again.

Review 52:I did not know there would be so many steps to our room. I have neuropathy in my feet and had requested a lower level room. Unfortunately, reception "upgraded" me to a nicer room, but many more steps.

Review 53:Staff was attentive, especially in morning buffets, over the top food to select.I felt like I was staying at a historic site along the cliffs.

Review 54:No welcome, staff officious, double room booked, given single room with smallest size double bed after complaint got proper size room and bed.after long journey needed something to eat asked for two Turkish ravioli to be told no ravioli settled for lesser snack with bread, bread totally forgottenAsked for 2 coffees after half hour told machine not working went to second restaurant again after wait told no coffee machine.complained to management,no apology. Food probably blandest ever had,not just my opinion after talking to other people altogether a very unpleasant stay.i went from a hotel in cappadocia which I rate 110 per cent to possibly the worst hotel I have stayed in, with over and 40 years travelling

Review 55:Great location

Review 56:The hotel is located in the most amazing place, Kalkan is amazing , over the sea and by the mountains , the water was amazing, the swimming pools, we took a taxi boat to the other side where there were local shops and small bazaars it was lovely for buying turkish products and delights! It was the perfect vacation and the hotel is just perfect. Some of the staff spoke fluent English, some weak but its okay. Only problem was on first day i was given a dirty towel in the room , but they changed to clean ones. We were upgraded to a suite which was amazing!

Review 57:Mixed messages from staff, misleading information re parking and valet parking and on site shuttle bus. TV out of service throughout whole week, poor tea/coffee facilities in room (not complete, Dont be tempted by the spa which charges 5*hotel spa prices but gives an extremely amateur (although well meaning and friendly) service

Review 58:Outstanding views, peaceful atmosphere, beautiful setting with interesting architecture. Some areas are in need of a little light maintenance. Perfect location just out of town, quite a walk if you want to enjoy the gorgeous friendly town of Kalkan so would recommend a car but dont believe the spin about on- site parking.......its beside the road at top of hill leading to hotel!!

Review 59:Not being able to stay longer !

Review 60:Charming setting. Friendly & cooperative staff from Reception to Housekeeping & Restaurant .. Incredibly pleasant & confortable closeness to the sea . A beautifully integrated architecture with the Main Bldng & the Cottages/Villas area..Needless to say, it was my fourth stay ! Being there you don't even consider going to the village . An insider's reference for a seaside holliday !

Review 61:Head waiters not efficient. Waiters were friendly but lacked training. One could see headwaiters were most lacking knowledge reflecting really bad on all staff. Plenty of staff and still one of the appalling services we have seen. Only 4 waiters that were not only good but efficient, out of 10 working at same time, including head waiters.

Review 62:Friendly staff

Review 63:WIFI . You couldn't use wifi anf this was bad.

Review 64:I just want to say thank you. In everwhere some mistakes could happen but this place is very helpfull. The sea and the place wad very good.

Review 65:The food was awful The room was old fashioned and in need of repair venetians broken would not close. Leaking roof during the night it was 4am Could not contact anyone to move us the bed was wet from rain but was told at 6am no one would be able to come up till later in the morning The bathroom plumbing was terrible with woeful smell The air condition did not work.

Review 66:The pool and sea area was just perfect ...the rest was very, very disappointing from the reception we received on our arrival. To the way they handled the many issues that had happened while we were there 14 staff members quit their jobs ! The best part was the pool and staff area

Review 67:All drinks including drinking water is charged and too expensive. Staff selection and training should be better than this.

Review 68:Superb location, out of the crowd guests, very fine architecture, silent, wonderful sea, good food.

Review 69:Stunning location, friendly and helpful staff

Review 70:Excellent room with great sea views.

Review 71:Rooms tired and basic repairs required - 2 lamps did not work and blind was broken.

Review 72:Fabulous view. Pools wonderful Breakfast very good

Review 73:there was children play ground, but no stuff for it.

Review 74:Hilly walk to the room. Lift was out of order during our stay. Menu limited to plain western food.

Review 75:Location and facilities are excellent.

Review 76:Location, pool, flowers...

Review 77:Breakfast salon was not airconditioned.

Review 78:Room, sea, aircondition was always on.

Review 79:excellent breakfast Staff extremley helpful greatly improved since last year

Review 80:The city is under big mosquito infestation, means, you can't sleep!

Review 81:The people attention was great they were warm and helped us while we stayed.

Review 82:Loved it all! Staff were great, helpful and friendly, made us feel welcome. Breakfast was brilliant! Rooms lovely and clean. Thank you!

Review 83:Wi fi was not working in our room. The desert was not their main specialty ;)

Review 84:Location and garden. Very friendly staff. Clean and stylish.

Review 85:Far away from any facilities. Isolated area.

Review 86:Location and nature view.

Review 87:Beautiful setting.

Review 88:had to wait for shuttle bus everytime.

Review 89:staff, cleanliness

Review 90:The town was a boat or taxi ride away, rather than a walk, although we knew this before. The wifi was only available in the lobby.

Review 91:The views from the hotel are breathtaking - such a great location. With three older children who all like different things, the buffet offered lots of tasty variety so everyone was happy. The staff were really helpful. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Review 92:ac didn't work (central ac was very old and didn't blow cool anywhere in the hotel. Rooms are outdated and basic rooms are a closet with a tiny bed. Stairs are extremely hazardous and need at least some safety tape on the edges. Waterfall is not working. Restaurant only serves Turkish cuisine, charges even for tea. Parking is 5 blocks straight up a very steep hill and you just leave your car way up there. No tennis courts as they advertise, and no other amenities or activities offered at the hotel other than laying out by the pool.

Review 93:the scenery was nice. They did offer a bigger room when we decided to leave because of the size of the room. They offered ice when I slipped and fell down several of their extremely dangerous stairs.

Review 94:Very poor food Expensive drinks Unreliable sea taxi Poor air conditioning Some staff unfriendly unable to speak english No option for B&B all half board

Review 95:Location Room view Most of the staff friendly

Review 96:This is a resort located in a great spot just off Kalkan. The location is really exceptional but what a pity about the management. It gave us the feeling that they really let it go. It could be a heaven in that location but unfortunately not. The food is not good enough. The staff is really unprofessional. You ask what is in mixed omelett, you get the answer, "I have no idea" from the waiter. Everything seems to be a bit old fashioned.

Review 97:Just the location is great ! And the water you swim is fantastic.

Review 98:Having visited turkey on numerous occasions i know how accommodating and friendly the people usually are, but we did not find the same with the staff at this hotel.

Review 99:Absolutely gorgeous location. Beautiful grounds, lovely food.

Review 100:If you with the child and with a children's carriage, be ready to steep slopes and a considerable quantity of ladders everywhere where you will go.

Review 101:Very good, benevolent relation of the personnel. A good view from a window, a good place for sviming at hotel. The convenient location of hotel to reach to all local sights.

Review 102:Staff treated us with utter contempt and had a total disregard for our comfort and needs, with the exception of the lovely boat and towel attendant who was delightful. A change of management could reform this quite beautifully designed hotel into somewhere worth staying. No wifi, no working aircon, terrible food and service that was quite extraordinarily bad. That said, fabulous position by the sea, beautiful waters, and great weather.

Review 103:Disinterested staff, disgusting food, facilities that were closed ( disco, pizza). Attitude is extremely poor, staff just does not care.

Review 104:The view, and only the view

Review 105:The Management was a like "Faulty Towers. They meant well but basic queries fro information seemed an effort. There were nooisy guests on the terrace at night making it hard to sleep. After a remonstrance with the Management matters improved. Leadership from the top lacking. Many hard working male waiters did not seem to have had sufficient training...but, they really tried hard which is commendable.Management cared more for the Groups and Conference members than private guests. On one night we were not allowed to eat on the terrace and had to go indoors because of the "groups". Drinks were expensive and not fair value. This is a hotel which has stunning amenities and views but is making ends meet .The staff are mostly men and seem under tremendous pressure but, to their credit, try their best. Hello Manuel !!

Review 106:Our room; very clean and comfy; well appointed bathroom; good beds; wonderful views . A nicely decorated room which was relaxing yet had everything you would need.

Review 107:we thought that the staff service was terrible. we always were kept waiting to get drinks and order our food. No-one spoke english, or made an effort to try understand what we were asking for; instead they would just give up and walk away. we had paid for half board, but after trying the food in the hotel on the first night, we did not eat there again. we also felt that no information was given to us whatsoever on arrival. We were not even told what time breakfast was, or where the restuarants were to eat in. It would have been nice, if someone could have talked through what the hotel offers, and what was included, rather than leaving us to find out it all for ourselves.

Review 108:It was a very beautiful hotel, with a lovely view of the harbor and sea.

Review 109:Desk staff presented to be upset and annoyed by our lodging needs. Openly ignored our need for a secure wifi connection, and stated, that the connection was not "their problem."

Review 110:Beautiful location, with charming terraced landings and landscape leading to the beautiful Mediterranean Sea. Breakfast were delicious and the staff, attentive. One special front desk beautiful lady, Astrer must be thanked for she was the only staff, who presented and provided a personal touch of warmth, attention and consideration to us as travelers.

Review 111:ACs not functional in our room in May end!! Terrace room went for a toss with ACs not operational to follow hotel policy??? Worst we were not made aware before booking or even at check in! To add to the misery, the manager is on a 'vacation' and front office staff is not empowered enough to make mends. A waste of money, time and poor show of service standards which is more alarming. Location is a bit oustide of main town/happening areas down a slope so your mobility is not great. Classic example of poor service attitude marring an otherwise expansive property. No shows for sure again! Dont waste your money looking at pics..people and service is poor!

Review 112:The air conditioning was an absolute farce, yes we did close our windows but yet no cooling. It was an ancient piece of machinery which perhaps had had its better days but just didn't cool the room.

Review 113:The staff were very nice especially Deniz at reception. The room we got was lovely although to get the partial sea-view one would have to have a giraffe-like neck. Breakfast was great with a large spread and so was the half board dinner. The swimming platforms were amazing with its pristine blue waters and it truly was awesome.

Review 114:Breakfast, snack food was poor, personnel needs to be trained, our room's location was not private and looking at stairs. Many people have been passing by

Review 115:View, suit room, location

Review 116:food not very good but price was reasonable so can't complain too much and we hired a car but had to leave it at the top of the hill every day.

Review 117:fantastic location, staff very friendly and helpful, great weather.

Review 118:The buffet was un desirable, the breakfast toaster was always broken, the drinks were over priced. The taxi to the top of the hill out the resort was meant to be every 15min you can be waiting for 30min. The wifi was intemitent and slow.

Review 119:It was quiet and relaxing, the al a carte meal was really nice.

Review 120:Staff very unfriendly and did ignore us completely in restaurants, bars etc. The room was very old and small, a/c not working, wifi not working, hairdryer not working. On Friday night, party at the pool with very loud music until 1am which kept us from sleeping.

Review 121:Location, beautiful swimming platforms

Review 122:Very good hotel, really a nice choice, very romantic, nice position, excellent garden and right by the sea. The position is ideal if you travel by your car, the star will provide the parking on site. Rich breakfast on a wonderful terrace with a sea view.

Review 123:I stayed here at Patara Prince for 3 nights in late NOV 2013, well past the end of the tourist season....so had the entire hotel almost all to myself! Wonderful friendly staff helped me at every turn, amazing view from the balcony of my gorgeous room, and with a delicious breakfast included, all for 40 Euros! I swam in the sea from the hotel's platforms, it was excellent! I rate it a 10 out of 10!

Review 124:The food is so so. We paid full board & the breakfast could not be faulted (other than it would have been nice to have fresh orange juice every day not 2 days out of 7). The dinner menu on the other hand left a little to be desired. This was not a problem however as there are a multitude of good restaurants available.

Review 125:Patara Prince would not be everyone's cup of tea but for us it was perfect. Slightly jaded in appearance but the height of sophistication in its hey day it is its location that makes it the ideal spot for a relaxing holiday. It is immaculately clean & the staff are very friendly.

Review 126:Location in the quiet part of Kalkan Good faciities outdoor pools andbeach area. Kalkan is located in one of the most beautiful areas ofturkey, as yet not spoilt by mass tourism. A car is a must both fortransfers to and from Dalaman but also to make the most of visits to themany attractions and for easy access to Kalkan town.

Review 127:Horrible staff ... they are friendly and willing to help but are (confused, not knowing what is or isn't available, sometimes not really understanding english etc).

Review 128:Wonderfull setting and location.

Review 129:Room rates are far too high for this hotel. The architecture, location, garden and outdoor facilities are very nice, rooms are OK, but the hotel, restaurants and staff left an overall disorganised impression.

Review 130:There are many things we didnt like: common areas were very dirty. Staffwas not qualified and competent. We booked for a junior suite but suitewas not a suite at all, we felt like quite cheated. The rate was halfboard, but after waiting for 3 hours hotel was able to serve dinner by11:00 pm for 2 consecutive nights. As a result, our kids fell asleap onthe table. 3Rd night we forgo the half board and had to eat outside.Never ever go to this hotel
