Reviews for Egem Pension
Review 1:Smelled heavily like smoke in all the common areas and the street seemed a little unsafe at night
Review 2:Close to the ferry and bus terminals. They also let us keep our luggage there till late the next day. Very helpful staff.
Review 3:Breakfast was nothing, had to go buy breakfast at another place the room was not serviced the bathroom, well the mold, there was so much it's about to evolve into a lifeform. If you are running out of money ok if not go somewhere else.
Review 4:Getting out of there
Review 5:We booked an apartment for 2 families with small kids. The apartment was big, but very dirty especially for the kids that were touching everything. One of the bedrooms was with common open area with the kitchen (open space as well) & the window of the balcony had a big round hole in it - not very noisy during the night, but still... The kitchen was not equiped, only dusty furniture & fridge!!
Review 6:Great location, right in the center of the city, walking distance to the ferry. Nice breakfast but a bit poor to a location near by. Free parking. Free Wifi. Apartment was big.
Review 7:Converted apartment building - badly nailed table tops separating the kitchen from the former dining room to make second bedroom.
Review 8:Great comfortable beds, good air conditioning and good hot water pressure other than that not much going for it, You get what you pay for
Review 9:The room looked different in reality than in the pictures presented on the site. The room was not clean. The sheets on the bed were not clean . It was a bad smell in the room. Everything was a real filty. My kids wanted to leave the hotel. They didn't want to sleep in there. The parking was at 10 minutes of walking from the pension. The personnel didn't speak English. We want a breakfast "to go" and they made us one sandwiche/person.
Review 10:Very good situated place, just near the ferryboat.
Review 11:The parking lot (AT THE PROPRIETY!!) has just one slot, for most cases the hotel will provide a place in a parking lot nearby, the bed sheets I assume were used by someone else in a previous night, in a room with four beds we had only two towels, mold in the bathroom.
Review 12:Bed linen not clean, towels had seen better days, was hoping the earlier reviews were incorrect but sorry to say not. Broken glass left in the corridor even after we had told reception was still there 1 hour later. Breakfast served across the road was very disappointing. Wouldn't recommend staying here!
Review 13:Good location
Review 14:My family was in transit for one night and the experience wasn't pleasant with this hotel, unfortunately. We didn't expect the "five-star" service but the room which was offered was a true disaster. Everything was dirty: bed, toilet with kind of shower, the fridge. Badly damaged furniture, cracked door frame, etc. It was a feeling that nobody cares what is going on in this hotel. The receptionist, a cooperative guy, offered us another room that was not too much better than first. He agreed that our complains are justifiable and even offered to put us in other partner-hotel but we refused to go somewhere else because of late night and uncertainty that other room will be better. Bottom line: It is poor managed and maintained hotel, which does not offer what is advertised on the website, and does not care much about their clients.
Review 15:The location, near the ferry port.
Review 16:The pension is in a great central location. We stayed in a family room and this was very comfortable and quite spacious. The staff were very pleasant and flexible as there was some confusion about our rooms. This is a good solid pension great for a few nights stay.
Review 17:This place does not look like what is on the pictures. We have live electricity connection open in the hotel, there was a wire connected to the toilet to be able to flush. The aircons didn't work. The TV was horrible. Parking was about a kilometer away. Wouldn't recommend.
Review 18:It has a great location and very central to everything.
Review 19:Single beds are a bit small but comfy. Wifi on terace floor is a bit low.
Review 20:Terace is a very nice. Staff are very cheerful and helpful. It is very convenient and centric.
Review 21:On booking we reserved one hotel , but they took us to another.they tell to as that on booking is wrong adress. aircondition is on bad position and if you turn on you cant lay on the bed .the bathroom is on bad condition.
Review 22:For one night is ok.
Review 23:rooms: drab and dirty
Review 24:Very good location, very fast internet connection, IDRIZ a young man who receives visitors very polite and cordial (he is the best).
Review 25:Ideal for a stay in Canakkale, comfort rooms, very clean, ideal position, friendly staff -i became super large room because of my little kid,i will visit the hotel again
Review 26:Location was in a seedy bar district, with the next door discotheque playing late into the night. If you are not bringing children and can sleep through the music, it was an average hotel.
Review 27:Price was low and it was centrally located in Alsancak. Was within walking district of many sites.
Review 28:With easy access to transport to Sultanahmet and to walk to Taksim Square, Aysegul's home was perfectly located for us. We are a mature backpacking couple who like to walk. We enjoyed our discussions with Aysegul about Turkey.
Review 29:Incorrect room to what was booked, no hot water on both days, airconditioner didn't work, power oulets sticking out of wall- completed unsafe, only one TV station, coudn't communicate with staff. High numbers of Australian, NZ& UK, people visit area, expect minimal communication in english. Communicated via traslator app on ipad
Review 30:Nothing. A very, very bad experience
Review 31:We booked the Egem Pension but were actually accommodated at a sister hotel a couple of streets away. It was fine but a bit unnerving when we first checked in.
Review 32:Great location, good price.
Review 33:Though I had requested a non-smoking room I was placed in a room next to a group of men who smoked heavily all evening long. The smoke was drawn into the hallway and under the door and into my room and when I opened the window onto the balcony hoping to for a breath of fresh air the smoke was drawn straight into my room from their open balcony window into mine. I remember being absolutely miserable, not feeling like I could breath and unable to get away from the smoke. Though the staff were very nice, they were brand new to the job and the location and new nothing of the local sights and could not answer related questions.
Review 34:The staff at the front desk and the kitchen were very friendly. I have traveled a fair amount in Turkey and I regard the town of chanukale as an anathema. It is the opposite of Konya and some place I highly recommend everyone experience. It is an extremely liberal town.
Review 35:Hot water run out need to ask staff to fix it Shower door broken Even the location is good but the front is so easy to missed we need to drive around the block about 10 times before founding it.
Review 36:Location
Review 37:Cleanliness of en suite bathroom.
Review 38:Nice big bedroom. TV and wifi good. Central location. Town has a good vibe. Friendly staff. Adequate typical Turkish breakfast.
Review 39:The staff was friendly and helpful, they arranged for the parking very close to the hotel. The breakfast was very rich and good. The hotel is very close to the very small city center (it's actually in the city center).
Review 40:The house is very old, the parking is absent, you have to stay car at parking in 7 minutes.
Review 41:It is small and cozy hotel in the center of city. It very convenient for walking in the city and you can have dinner on the bankment. The personel is friendly and helpfully.
Review 42:doors are not closing very well and you can hear a lot of noise from the hall-way
Review 43:close location to harbour, friendly staff that gave good orientation tips around town
Review 44:The staff at the reception could be more smiling and caring...
Review 45:It was an excellent tour with my family. Initial reception was good. The room was spacious but the airconditioning and lift could be even better. Staff were good and even could be more attentive to the international tourist. We enjoyed the quality breakfast. I wish all the best.
Review 46:The room, balcony and bathroom were not clean. Third bed in the room doesn't leave much space.
Review 47:The friendliness and understanding of the staff. The location is really great.
Review 48:The bathroom was dirty and very smelly. There were only 2 towels for 4 people no hairdryer.
Review 49:The location was great
Review 50:no microwave (but seen in booking.com), cleaning problem...

Review 55:wifi wasn't working on our floor, but otherwise lovely place.
Review 56:Great spot, right behind main road.
Review 57:Shower was a little cramp and no hook to hold the shower head

Review 59:Wifi device wasn't turned on

Review 64:No obvious sign for the pension
Review 65:close to the center
Review 66:Bathroom at times could be smelly due to sewer problems.
Review 67:Very close to ferry to Gallipoli Peninsula, right in city centre
Review 68:The room is little.
Review 69:Great location - close to everything
Review 70:Everything
Review 71:Nothing
Review 72:Rooms are badly maintenained (wall painting, laminate floor, bathroom with low lighting).
Review 73:Nice staff and he can speak English fluently. good location very near the beach
Review 74:The location was great, just a five minute walk to the ferries across the Dardanelles. Also very close to some good restaurants
Review 75:Many of the staff didn't speak english.
Review 76:Location Staff
Review 77:Very weak WiFi.
Review 78:Close to the port. Good staffs.
Review 79:Give a room that looked nothing like the room on bookings.com - disputed and after some time were given a part refund
Review 80:Staff resolved issues
Review 81:WiFi outside lobby very slow. No balcony access.
Review 82:Friendly staff.
Review 83:Slanted roof meant there were some places you couldnt stand straight
Review 84:Location and one of the staff
Review 85:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 86:It was squalid dangerous unmaintained. Should never have been advertised
Review 87:The hotel was very run down and when it rained our bathroom flooded. They did put us in another room
Review 88:There was a hole in the window that was plugged with a towel. The kitchenette was dirty and the fridge had a bad smell.
Review 89:Great staff!
Review 90:Great accommodation for the price. They organised our Gallipoli tour and gave us suggestions around town.
Review 91:bad smell in the room, water stopped to work during my showering, there were some problems with heating, but they repaired it...
Review 92:willingness of staff
Review 93:Breakfast was poor
Review 94:Large comfortable room with balcony Good location

Review 98:Very friendly staff. Family atmosphere. Really good breakfast. Located in the city centre close to the sea. Really recommendable!!!
Review 99:Very kind staff and helpful.
Review 100:- the room - the position of the hotel - the city
Review 101:Need some little renovations.
Review 102:Great location, just a few steps away from the ferry terminal and the historical center. Fair breakfast.
Review 103:The noise, the bathroom
Review 104:The location it was close to the riviera
Review 105:dirty room amateur service
Review 106:location staff brakfast comfortable bed
Review 107:they changed the hotel we were supposed to stay... problem with hot water, small rooms
Review 108:If you live in room x01, it may apply to you:(we lived in 601 and 602), the shower door is difficult to be closed in 601 as the design of the door is weirded( vertical-curvy shape but the degree of the door-curve doesn't fit well). You will understand if you have that room, it's not easy to explain...but room 602 (x02) will be fine.
Review 109:It's really close to the town centre but you need time to find the location, also the Egem has hotel and pension( so be careful when you take a taxi to there from Canakkele central terminal, though it's only 5-8 mins walking distance between pension and hotel) The shower is hot.
Review 110:The shower was leaking and the bathroom floor was constantly wet.
Review 111:Good location, friendly staff and good value for money. Spacious room for four people and nice to have breakfast in the garden.
Review 112:Wifi poor. The guy gave me some excuse about the military near taking the Internet?! Only worked in the foyer There was water leaking from the shower all over the floor before we even put our bags in the room. The balcony did not lock and the door didn't even stay shut. We had to tie a belt around it and hold it down with a bag, to keep it closed all night! Shower rather grubby. But for one night it's totally fine and good location if coming from gallipoli and driving through.
Review 113:Very close to ferry and seafront and restaurants. Room was larger than I thought
Review 114:I was really impressed with the quality and location of the place. We booked a four bed room and got a sort of mini apartment, two rooms with a kitchen, bathroom and balcony. Beds were clean and comfortable, everything was great. Breakfast was of the typical Turkish style very nice!
Review 115:Not hot water until the next morning because they forgot to turn on theheater.breakfast ok but the service was not good at all.u
Review 116:Excellent location, clean and modern style.
Review 117:Wifi only in lobby
Review 118:Staff very helpful- drew us map to dolmus station so could get to Troy, set up breakfast early for us so we didn't miss it when we had an early start. Location was good Breakfast had all I needed
Review 119:- we had to ask for several basic thinks that were included in the cost
Review 120:- awesome facilities at a low price - excellent and helpful staff - near the seaside/port
Review 121:Somebody said "elevator"? Didn't find it...
Review 122:- Good value for price - Near ferry, center... near anything - Cosy atmosphere - Nice staff, friendly and helping.
Review 123:Wifi in the rooms would be nice. the drains smell in the bathroom.
Review 124:the location is fantastic. loved having a balcony to get some fresh air and look over the street life. Liked that the pension had a laundry.
Review 125:Everything else. There was no wi-fi connection in our room, so we had tostay in the common areas to use it, but this was the most forgettableproblem. I'm sorry to say, but the room where we had to sleepwasn't clean at all (I have to mention a pillow with a nice vomitstain, some blood on the blankets, bath towels already used) andthat's why our valutation is so poor. Maybe a clean room was worththose 35 euros (you have to stay in Canakkale if you have just crossedthe Dardanelles and you need a place quite near to Troy in order toexplore it after a good sleep, and the hotel is located in the citycentre, so you can find it "quite easily" - don't hope tofind a sign, it's impossible in the whole Turkey), but that'squite a robbery if you have to sleep on your scarves and use your owntowels. Maybe it's also our fault, since we were too tired tocomplain and to ask for a new room at 11 P.M. after a whole day drivingfrom Istanbul to Canakkale, but you can't simply put up yourcustomers in a dirty room when you've got lots of available ones(especially if you are quite expensive for Turkish standards). I'msorry to state all these things, because people from the staff werehelpful and kind (as all Turkish people, actually), but I think thishotel has been the worst of our entire trip (and we stayed in Turkey forthree weeks).
Review 126:Our room was very big (there were an additional single bed, a sofa and alittle terrace - its door didn't lock, but we were told that we hadnothing to fear, and in fact nothing happened). Breakfast was buffetstyle and we really appreciated it (Turkish breakfast is quite...Particular, especially if you're from Italy), because we couldchoose what to eat and avoid throwing away tons of food that we reallycouldn't stand at 8 A.M.
