Reviews for Cliff Dwellers Inn

Review 1:The curtains need to be insulated. They let in a lot of cold air. The curtain rod does not extend far enough so you can't close the curtains all the way for privacy. The bathtub was not functioning. There was no heat in the bathroom. There was an ugly rusted out radiator which did not function. The decor is very outdated and could use a simple refresh. The breakfast was poor. There was only 1 styrofoam cup in the room for coffee. Mugs would be best and two would be preferable. They should let you know there are no phones for emergencies.

Review 2:We thought Avaline who greeted us was excellent. We thought the room was extremely clean. We thought the location was very good.Liked that there was a fridge. The wi-fi worked well.

Review 3:Cheap curtain rod in rm. 103 is my only complaint.

Review 4:Checkin was smooth. Very friendly checkin clerk. The room was very nicely decorated and clean. Everything worked well. Beds were very comfortable. I slept great! Great view in the morning. Wonderful, well-stocked continental breakfast. I love the location! I will def. be back.

Review 5:The room had a bad smell that could not be covered up with air freshener and there was no hot water for showers in the morning. For nearly $200 for one night, I couldn't even take a hot shower in the morning.

Review 6:Lobby/ area for breakfast was warm and comforting. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Review 7:The place was extremely dated. The room we stayed in was a first floor room that had the basement musty smell. For the amount we paid I expected a much nicer place.

Review 8:The price was a little high. We stayed here last year and was given a sticker and told we could get a discount on our next stay which is why we booked with this motel. However, when we arrived they said discounts did not apply for the months of October & November. Wish we would have known in advance. Sent the motel an email and asked about it but never got a reply. Guess I should have called.

Review 9:Liked the location being close to attractions and shopping. Enjoyed the breakfast that was available with our room.

Review 10:Only real complaint is that there was not much room to move in the shower and at the toilet.

Review 11:It was large room with hardwood floors and a comfortable bed

Review 12:1. We had to ask 3 times to have a broken light bulb cleaned-up on balcony.2. There was no soap/shampoo/etc. in shower. 3. Road proximity and construction was a bit of a pain. 4. Paying extra for "lake view" when the water is across the road and about a quarter mile away is MISLEADING.

Review 13:The two ladies that waited on us were helpful and friendly. The king bedwas comfortable and had good blankets, pillows, etc. The fact that wehad what looked like the only private balcony was great!

Review 14:Wifi was spotty.

Review 15:The room were very spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff was very personable. I accidentally left a purse behind in our room upon checking out and they were honest and courteous enough to call and let us know before we even noticed and held it secured until we could return to retrieve it.(Luckily we were still in the area). We would stay here again for sure!

Review 16:No Microwave in the room; breakfast was mediocre

Review 17:Staff were very attentive and friendly; excellent customer service Excellent location with nice views

Review 18:Was advertised as deluxe king room with fireplace and mountain view however when booked online the room was one with neither however I paid the same price as the other rooms. I brought this up to the staff and was told there was nothing they could do for me. I also was unhappy with the construction along the road which made it difficult to gain access to the hotel with a motorcycle.

Review 19:The worst part was the view... Our room had no view of the mountains like we expected but instead we only saw someone's house that was next door.

Review 20:The staff was amazing and friendly plus very dedicated to making sure we were happy!

Review 21:The Wi-Fi wasn't working properly and not able to reach the rooms. The staff was working to correct that.

Review 22:The staff was especially polite and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and the location is close to local restaurants and just far enough away from the downtown area.

Review 23:It was a bit pricey compared to some of the other hotels in the area. The inside of the room was nice but this older hotel could stand some updating outside on deck, steps, etc. Also need to add an ice machine and snack machine that can be accessed at all hours. The only ice machine is in the office and is not accessible after 9:00-9:30 at night.

Review 24:The rooms were attractive and clean. The staff members we met were friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast provided many choices. The location was great for easy access to both Blowing Rock and Boone..

Review 25:Breakfast was disappointing. Ran from 8-9:30 but by 9 most food was gone. What was available was not very good

Review 26:The rooms are spacious and view of lake and mountains was awesome. Gardens were lovely on property.

Review 27:Wasn't told the WiFi didn't work until I kept trying to get online and called to inquire about it. Wifi is a must for me.

Review 28:Size of the room and the view!

Review 29:The WiFi was not great. Had to sit in the restaurant to get any kind of signal.

Review 30:The girls at the front desk were amazing! They were so sweet and helpful and made us feel like family.

Review 31:There is a bit of construction on the road in front of the hotel, so getting into town was a bit challenging but it did not really impact our stay at all!

Review 32:The atmosphere at Cliff Dwellers was incredibly comfortable and laid back. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were quite clean.

Review 33:The hill getting up to the hotel was harder than we thought.

Review 34:My fiance and I go to blowing rock every year for Valentine's day weekend. The cliff dwellers was by far our favorite place we've stayed so far.

Review 35:The only problem we noticed was that the water temperature was effected by someone using the shower or flushing the toilet in the next room.

Review 36:The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The rooms were large and had great views. The location was very central to restaurants, shopping, the Blue Ridge Mountains and all of the ski areas.

Review 37:This hotel provides a very warm and comforting atmosphere The staff is extremely friendly and helpful The lobby and breakfast area are beautifully decorated, a place you want to hang out The rooms are spacious and clean and tastefully decorated Will definitely come back here

Review 38:No wifi. Charged us $250 for staying in a non-pet friendly room. No one told us there are designated pet friendly rooms and not our responsibility to ensure they put us in the right room. We did not hide our dogs and were upfront about bringing them. Staff very rude and unwilling to negotiate.

Review 39:Bed was comfortable

Review 40:Staff at all levels very professional, personable and helpful. We stayed in a double queen room which was large, clean, and welcoming - had a fresh, autumn smell. The view was very nice and convenient to other areas.

Review 41:It was near construction, so you can hear some of the equipment in the mornings. But it wasn't that big of an issue, and the hotel can't help that.

Review 42:The room was cozy and had a great view. Plus, we asked for a picture of Gandalf on the pillow when we arrived...and they did it. So the staff goes above and beyond to make sure you're satisfied.

Review 43:Only thing that I would change, is that next time I will stay on top level. We could hear every step people above us took.

Review 44:Friendly staff, clean rooms, pretty scenery, 2 sinks, mini frig and good location.

Review 45:Nothing

Review 46:We usually stay in Boone , but decided to try Blowing Rock. This place was so neat!!! Clean is a big deal with us and it was Clean!!! Staff was so kind and we really loved it

Review 47:Little construction in front of the hotel on Blowing Rock Rd made it tricky at night with fog. Loved everything else !

Review 48:This older "mom & pop" type hotel has been converted to a cozy lodge atmosphere--so like a welcoming home. Special little touches is what made this so special--like the home decorations and personally being shown to our room, even with ice ! NOT your typical business sterile hotel. Excellent views, large family suite, nice variety on breakfast. Warm, inviting staff---especially the manager. Very helpful about area attractions and restaurants. Their personal touches make this a great stay !!!

Review 49:no hot water

Review 50:room was convenient easy access

Review 51:Very nice family run place. Rustic but charming and nicely situated with a view of the mountains. Felt comfortably looked after.

Review 52:Location and privacy

Review 53:Courteous staff, big fluffy towels, great view, beautiful lobby

Review 54:We loved the accessibility to the area around it. It was roomy and clean with a good view.

Review 55:A pretty good walk crossing a busy road to get to town

Review 56:Great view. Terrific, friendly staff

Review 57:Great clean place to stay! Look forward to staying there again

Review 58:Room had an overpowering clean smell. Too much air freshener or something. Like they are trying to coverup a smell

Review 59:Good location

Review 60:close to shopping and destination

Review 61:No hot tub :(

Review 62:Wonderful roomy!

Review 63:The property is located on a highway busy with noisy truck traffic.

Review 64:Evangeline (sp?) was welcoming and kind. The view was fantastic.

Review 65:friendly staff, clean room, easy access through a traffic light to exit and enter downtown Blowing Rock.

Review 70:Family owned and operated. Friendly staff, will stay again.

Review 71:Dirty shower unprofessional staff trash didn't get removed beds weren't made didn't receive new towels

Review 72:Room size

Review 73:Nearby construction, and the steep hill at the entrance in the snow.

Review 74:Hard matress and lots of foot traffic overhead

Review 75:Great view and convenient location .
