Reviews for Red Roof Inn Ann Arbor North University
Review 1:The room was clean, but needed a little work. The deadbolt was broken (completely missing from the door), so that made us a little nervous. There was some discoloration in the bathroom, but nothing that made me feel like it was dirty -- Just an older room.
Review 2:This hotel was a reasonable price, close to downtown Ann Arbor with decently comfortable rooms. It was close to the highway and there were several stores within walking distance that made it easy to pick up any items we forgot. Beds were very comfy and the TV had a lot of channels, so that was a plus! You also receive a breakfast voucher for the Big Boy next door, which was really convenient for grabbing something quick in the morning before hitting the road.
Review 3:The rooms were very clean and the front desk very helpful -- as I write I cannot remember the woman with whom we dealt most days (breakfast vouchers) etc (maybe Sheila???) but she was always cheerful and helpful. The location, the rooms, the cleanliness all worked for us.
Review 4:Bathroom a bit small, might present an issue for larger individuals.
Review 5:Location easy to find, just off the main highway. Plenty of free parking. Grocery store and pharmacy a short walk away. Also very near UM Engineering Campus. Rooms were recently renovated. Staff was responsive to our requests and helpful. Free or discounted breakfast at proximate restaurant a great convenience.
Review 6:we weren't made aware of the fact that our room had previously had pets in. I was bitten by fleas and as I react badly it impacted our next few days vacation. The management knocked 1 nights payment off the bill but that didn't compensate the discomfort. I would never use RedRoof again or recommend it to anyone.
Review 7:My room became extremely hot (as it it had floor heating) to the point I had to turn the A/C when the outside temperature was below 10°C. Also, the internet got very slow at times. I don't remember having this problem in previous stays.
Review 8:The sink was located outside the bathroom and the bathroom door stuck so bad couldn't open without help from family member, not a good experience.
Review 9:Room was nice and comfortable beds.
Review 10:Once I checked in and eventually got into bed I realized there were bed bugs. It was my first experience and it was gross. I immediately left and was told I wouldn't be charged. Needless to say five days later I was charged, and then hassled by the clerk when I called back to have my money returned.
Review 11:The value
Review 12:There was s tapping sound, not sure where it was coming from but it went on from the time we checked in until check out. Kept me awake most of the night. I notified someone of it around 11pm, didn't here back from anyone.
Review 13:The TV was nice
Review 14:The size of the room and bathroom. There was no room for one person to even turn around in the bathroom. There was was also very little space in the room.
Review 15:I like the location of the hotel. It is right off the freeway. The Big Boy's being attached to the hotel help with the breakfast choices as well.
Review 16:Thin walls! Felt like we were in the shower with the guy next door. Had to go each day to get a voucher for breakfast (and wait in line to do so) Why couldn't they give us all the vouchers when we checked in? We had a family emergency and had to leave early. They would refund only half the room rate because we missed the checkout time by 2 hours. We wanted to stay but couldn't and were penalized for it.
Review 17:The person who checked us in was nice and efficient. I think her name was Shayla. The other people we worked with were not so nice.
Review 18:Dishes in communal breakfast room had some dried food stuck on them. They had probably been washed by an industrial washing machine.
Review 19:The location. The ability to park in front of our room.
Review 20:The room was a little small but it wasn't expensive so I expected that.
Review 21:The staff was very helpful and friendly. I'm from New York so I had no idea where I was going and they helped me navigate and gave me advice on where to go in Ann Arbor.
Review 22:Very expensive for such a basic motel.
Review 23:Friendly staff, very well situated & easy to find. Breakfast was either free from a very limited menu at the Big Boy next door, or you could apply $3 per person and order whatever you wanted.
Review 24:The middle aged woman employee was not good. She was not friendly and urged to write signature faster.
Review 25:The room is very clean. Wifi is really nice. It is around the convenient place.
Review 26:Staff members at front desk need to be trained properly. They were not kind nor efficient. While customer waiting in line, the staff kept picking up phones. Although it is not easy to find room because of the strange lay out, the staff did not explain properly at all. They never say sorry even if they were pointed out their mistakes. Their attitude was generally abrupt rather than attentive. And, it said breakfast is included. In fact, it was a $3.50 voucher. No one explained about it.
Review 27:Room was equipped efficiently with modern furniture and was made very nicely.
Review 28:Room was on 1st floor. Closeness in the room, window not to open. For fresh air I had to open the door, permanently people passed and watched into the room. Aircondition was dirty. No hair dryer.
Review 29:Located next to a car rental with opening hours on sunday. Comfortable beds and clean nathroom. A 6 Dollar breakfast voucher for BigBog was inclusive.
Review 30:The beds weren't huge and are so so on the comfort but again for the price for one night stay we could live with it.
Review 31:Enjoyed that the room was updated, clean and they had a nice breakfast setup with the nearby Big Boy that was easy to walk to.
Review 32:We never had any bad experiences while staying at the Red Roof but the accommodation is definitely 'no frills'. So if you're expecting all mod cons, this isn't the place for you to stay. Keep an eye on the exchange rate as also local taxes as these can bump up the price quoted.
Review 33:The room was large and had good beds plus the staff were always friendly and helpful. The best thing though were the breakfasts in the adjoining Big Boys restaurant. Guests can either choose something fro free from the Red Roof menu or have a contribution ($3) made towards something slightly more expensive. Either way, the breakfasts were great and having a short stack f pancakes with maple syrup and butter along with a drink for free each day is very good value !
Review 34:While the room was nice, the fridge was loud, and I couldn't get the blow dryer to work. Plus the room was small.
Review 35:The staff was very friendly and made you feel welcome. Your breakfast voucher is for the Big Boy next door.
Review 36:Included breakfast is rather minimal. Decor is all right, but nothing special.
Review 37:Staff are very polite, rooms are fine, and location is convenient (assuming travel by car). WiFi service worked fine in room and lobby.
Review 38:Everything was very good except for the unpleasant stuffy smell in the room. Desperately needs airing!
Review 39:Staff courteous, bed and pillows comfy, bathroom spacious, quiet. Wheelchair accessibility evident and impressive. Breakfast next door, a good deal, offering many options. Close proximity to our destination.
Review 40:Our room was NOT ready when we arrived. It had not been cleaned nor prepped for guests. Even after cleaning, we found body hair in the tub and toilet from the previous guest.
Review 41:The bed was very comfortable. The room was very quiet.
Review 42:They forgot to do my room two days in a row. The pillows are too hard. WiFi refused to work one night.
Review 43:As soon as I asked what was going on, they made the room and continued to do it after that.
Review 44:There is no interior hallway, so when it snows, all the stuff at the bottom of your shoes goes right into the room.
Review 45:Location right off highway and minutes away from UofM.
Review 46:The main lobby where we checked in smelled of smoke, which had me worried about the rooms but the rooms smelled just fine!
Review 47:Affordable and nice accommodations!
Review 48:The set screw on the door handle was missing from the time we arrived. This meant that once opened it would no longer shut unless we inserted the key again to open, i.e. the dead bolt was engaged. I reported this to the young person at the front desk and he didn't offer to move us even though the place was no more than 50% full.
Review 49:Good location for a stopover.
Review 50:Bathroom was a bit smaller than I expected but adequate. I would have liked a hand held shower head. Not really a negative since I do bring my own toiletries but just shampoo/conditioner mix. But why pay for extra little bottles of lotion, etc.
Review 51:I appreciated the free breakfast, friendly staff. Room was clean and I had a King plus. Nice bed and desk to work at. Bathroom had a nightlight and appreciate they are trying to be eco-friendly. Really liked the power strip on the bedside stand to use. Made it easier to NOT forget my chargers behind bedstand.
Review 52:banging in adjacent room made sleep difficult second night. wifi barely extended to attached restaurant.
Review 53:Football weekend availability was a plus. Room was clean and secure.
Review 54:Continental breakfast was kind of small, but we used our vouchers toward breakfast at adjoining Big Boy, and it was a bargain.
Review 55:The room was clean. The beds were comfortable. We had a small coffee pot and microwave. We were in town for business and the room was a bargain.
Review 56:My room was on second floor with no elevator; so it may not be suitable for elderly people.
Review 57:clean spacious modern room. complimentary water and snacks everyday. Included breakfast in room rate in adjoining Big Boy restaurant. Close to Applebees for a perfect dinner and Food mart. Close to bus stops if you don't have a car. Great Value for money.
Review 58:Couldnt figure out my safety deposit box so couldnt use it
Review 59:I enjoyed my stay...staff were friendly...room was big and clean....good location....the number 2 bus is good as a person who doesnt have a car....safe area too
Review 60:The room did not come with a fridge and microwave as pictured. The tub and bed linens were dirty The room was much smaller than anticipated. There were not enough covers. The charge for the safe was a bit silly.
Review 61:Traevon was very nice.
Review 62:It's a nice, cheap hotel, of course no luxury but that wasn't what we were looking for. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly. Great value for money.
Review 63:Our room was dirty. Very disappointing. The floors left our white socks black within a few minutes of taking our shoes off. Overall the cleanliness was pretty poor. Clean rooms are extremely important when you are travelling with an infant and two year old.
Review 64:The rooms have recently been updated. The location of the Inn was good. The price was reasonable.
Review 65:Rooms are small, but I only needed to sleep, so it was fine for me :)
Review 66:Location, staff, free (or discounted) breakfast at the Big Boy attached to the building.
Review 67:sink not in bath room very noisy fan cupboard drawers not working easily and filled up with stuff door to room jammed, not easy to get into table not ideal for working shower in bath tub not comfortable coffee maker in room was chipped only a tiny shampoo and a soap bar, no shower gel stairwells and exteriors look very dated "lobby" is a small room 170$ a night for that? I made better and cheaper deals in 4 star hotels with far better service and comfort extra fee for safe - are you kidding me? breakfast includes either orange juice or coffee - not both, and you have to get you breakfast coupon every day separately you do not get them at once even though the validity date is indicated on them
Review 68:the town was crowded on that weekend and I was lucky that I found any room, the rooms got a make over recently but that couldn't fix that they are rather small and dark best thing is that there is the Busch's Fresh Food market near by staff was friendly but only had to deal with them during check in and out BigBoy is ok
Review 69:Only thing I didn't like was the shower head. Very weak! If you upgrade your shower heads I think you have a perfect option for the cost.
Review 70:Decor was very nice and well made!
Review 71:Outdoor walkway
Review 72:Great staff, modern rooms
Review 73:Location

Review 99:This, for me, was delightful. Location works really well to get back on the freeway, but no traffic noise at night. Very helpful staff.
Review 100:1.50 charge for safe i didn't use. I felt like they snuck the charge in and I didn't realize.
Review 101:The breakfast and the friendliness of the staff
Review 102:Location and cleanliness
Review 103:Room was a little small is our only complaint.
Review 104:Easy to find, good breakfast selection, comfortable beds, rooms have been updated.
