Reviews for Shadyside Inn All Suites Hotel Pittsburgh

Review 1:Nothing too bad - bathroom a little small, but nothing that would prevent us from staying again.

Review 2:Fabulous location; love the suite and separate bedrooms. It's not beautifully done - looks a little tired (particularly the bathroom.) But the kitchen was outfitted nicely; the staff was lovely and we would absolutely stay again. Oh - and really liked the charging station in the bedroom!

Review 3:Toilet didn't work when we got there. The room was literally 80 degrees. We tried turning the air on but it didn't work.

Review 4:Location was nice, and the staff was nice and helpful.

Review 5:Couple with children above us kept us up two nights. Although we were miserable, in the end, Shadyside management refunded the cost of those two nights.

Review 6:Love the walking proximity to Shadyshide shops and restaurants.

Review 7:The front desk was very helpful when I had questions and asked them for additional sheets. Welcome bag with snacks and bottled water was a nice touch too.

Review 8:First morning I got up the water in the bathtub/shower didn't work. I had to leave pretty quickly but got a shower that night.

Review 9:Location was perfect for me. Very clean. Bed was awesome.

Review 10:Beds were very uncomfortable, sunk in the middle. Dirt in areas. they clean only areas you see no moving of furniture. I had to move furniture to access recepticales.

Review 11:Location was very nice, property was kept nice.

Review 12:The staff at reception were very helpful and provided a lot of useful tips about exploring the neighborhood and city. What we found interesting was how the hotel management had retro-fitted a 1960's style apartment building into a very comfortable hotel. Other hotels should consider a similar approach as this type of accommodation meant we had a spacious hotel unit in a trendy and walkable neighborhood.

Review 13:Hotel is spread out over many properties. Stairs, stairs, stairs. Small bedroom, Q bed, postage stamp size bathroom, useless large living room, too many controls. Not for old people.

Review 14:location close to CMU campus

Review 15:a little too much street traffic could smell laundry sometimes

Review 16:multiple ways to heat and cool no carpet nearby shops and restaurants trees decor kitchen

Review 17:Very bad experience with the hotel staff. If you have forgotten anything in their room, don't expect to get it back. The staff in this place are stealers. We forgot our food baggage, all of our homemade snacks of various types (at least 4 kilo). They couldn't find it even calling just an hour after we left. Calling again for days didn't help, they came up with different answers every time. And even didn't care to call us back!!! I have been traveling places since last few years and this would be my worst experience overall!!! Never going to come back here and won't recommend to anyone.

Review 18:Nothing!

Review 19:Very friendly staff and even better facilities. Took my friend here for a "relaxing daycation" and certainly got everything we wanted out of our stay.

Review 20:Double bed was extremely TINY, the smell from the air conditioners was nasty, very small kitchen

Review 21:Very friendly and understanding cleaning service, their business center is well-equipped, free parking lot, great location

Review 22:Staff were not the most helpful or friendly. We were new to the area and asked for recommendations on places to see and how to get there and didn't give they didn't give us any suggestions so we just walked and found places on our own.

Review 23:These are apartments that were converted into hotels. There is more than one location depending on how many bedrooms you requested. Our building was in a great location and only one block from the stores and restaurants on Walnut Street.

Review 24:NO elevators.. and they should tell you when you book.. what floor you would like. Bathroom is a little outdated and toilet had issues flushing.

Review 25:location, very spacious, clean, nice staff, price was good

Review 26:Actual access into the building from the parking lot was a bit of a challenge for anyone with a disability. I would have liked a small dishwasher in the kitchen. I would encourage a non slip surface for the bathtub as well as a grab bar.

Review 27:The apartment was lovely, clean, and comfortable. Staff was friendly & greeted us with a welcome bag of things to eat & drink. They gave us a handy local restaurant map. Off street, free parking was a real plus. The elevator, although slow, was a definite plus. We originally planned to stay just one night, but were so comfortable, we stayed two nights.

Review 28:The vending machines were out of order and we were looking for snacks late one night. Staff member gave us free water bottles however.

Review 29:Everything was great about Shadyside Inn. We went for business and the staff were very helpful with free printing service and even with shipping a package for us. The place was very clean and had great decor. Honestly, I wish I could just live here. P.s they have free parking and free laundry machines!

Review 30:There was no door between the bedroom and the rest of the suite.

Review 31:The bathroom in the unit we had this time was more spacious and there was a little balcony off the bedroom nice for relaxing outdoors.

Review 32:I've been using this hotel in my trips to Pittsburgh for many years now and they have kept their high level of service all this time. Friendly personnel, clean comfortable suites, and just price! I look forward to returning soon!

Review 33:Staff was very friendly. Nice to have our own apartment, didn't seem like a hotel. They were nice about letting us stay parked there after check out.

Review 34:It's just an old apartment building with some paint slapped on the walls. Trying to be a modern hotel, but falls way short.

Review 35:Full kitchen, so if your staying a couple days it may be benefical. But then again it's Pittsburgh and who wants to cook their own food when there are so many great places to eat!

Review 36:Parking was limited. My toddler and I walked with barefeet inside and our feet were black within an hour (I think it was dye from new laminate floors? Dirt?). Kitchen cabinets a little dirty. Would stay again though...

Review 37:Spacious, well-decorated space. Wine glasses, coffee mugs, coffee machine in the kitchen. Gift bag of muffins, chocolates, mints and juice given at check-in for breakfast. Balcony unit overlooked a lovely garden area.

Review 38:Bathroom very dated with leaky faucet. Walls thin. Could hear everything going on in other suites. Would have been nice to have an extra blanket.

Review 39:Good location for us. Clean and comfortable.

Review 40:Only real down side is the parking---if your not in the "main lot," it's steep to get to and tough to pull out of without scraping. But---it's free.

Review 41:Great location near Carnegie Mellon U, which we were visiting. Loved having all of the space---with teenagers, it was great to have a common living/dining area, but then separate bedrooms. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. Also offered 9.00 admission tickets to the Carnegie museums, saving us over 30.00. Easy walking distance to shopping and food---we recommend Mario's saloon---great sandwiches and good beer selection--everyone enjoyed it so much we ate there twice.

Review 42:was across the street. Not sure if there was actually a breakfast. No communication from anyone. Had to call the front desk to figure out wifi. Took a while to figure out that the only way to call front desk was to call the full hotel #

Review 43:THe hotel was lovely. Was not smart enough to bring stuff to use the kitchen. The room and suite was fabulous. Neighborhood was nice and local shops were great. Staff was really accommodating and funny

Review 44:It's a little bit of a hike to the local shops & restaurants, but they do provide a shuttle. I was a bit surprised that we were housed in a building that was a few blocks from our check-in point.

Review 45:Nice location. Very clean. Very nice amenities & layout. Spacious. Good value for the money. Free parking.

Review 46:Little bit noisy. Thin walls. Used white noise machine to drown out conversations next door.

Review 47:Great location in relation to Pitt. Liked having lots of space so we weren't on top of each other while hanging out in room. Nice to have separate bedroom.

Review 48:Clean, comfortable, well maintained, and everything worked. I didn't need any staff support, but I was confident that they would graciously and competently attend to any need that might arise.

Review 49:Having to search f/ 2 non exsistent parking spaces not once but 2x. Once at the main check in building but then again across the street at "F" building.

Review 50:At some point I mentioned I liked chocolate cookies and when I checked in I found some in my suite...very nice.

Review 51:We loved the Shadyside Inn! Our suite was gorgeous, we were excited to be so close to downtown Shadyside and the staff at the Inn were incredibly helpful with everything we needed.

Review 52:Be aware Shadyside Suites has satellite properties: multi-unit houses around Shadyside with individual flats for short or long term. You may not be booked at the given address in Shadyside. The desk staff was unfriendly, unaccomodating and inhospitable when I expressed my surprise and dismay about this.

Review 53:The flat was clean, well located and comfortable. Laundry facilities a plus.

Review 54:No bad experiences.

Review 55:The staff is extremely pleasant and professional. The location is within 5 minutes walk of our son's apartment and the Shadyside main street restaurants and businesses.

Review 56:I little disillusioned from the pictures showcased on line. The apartment was older and smaller than appeared on-line. The driveway was too steep for my car to totally clear bumping the under carriage or tail pipes.

Review 57:Free laundry facility. Apartment was clean and well stocked. Staff very friendly and responsive. The bed was very comfortable and housekeeping replaced towels daily. Loved the location, walking distance to specialty stores, and cafes.

Review 58:Didn't like the parking lot for building F. Seems unsafe at night. No staff in the building except cleaning crew. Would prefer to stay in the main building.

Review 59:I like the decor. Staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 60:I had only one problem. We choose Pittsburgh and this place to sleep one night. But the AC did not work and we could not sleep well - negative point!

Review 61:The apartment is awesome!

Review 62:Wifi sucked, bad paint job, and they wouldn't let me downside from a 2 bedroom to a 1 bedroom, citing third party booking.

Review 63:Stayed here for my 9th year anniversary, it was a very quiet easy going place.

Review 64:The staff was so friendly and helpful and the suite was bright and clean. The courtyard was very relaxing and beautifully landscaped. There were shops close by. The overall experience was very positive. Will stay there again in the future.

Review 65:We specifically requested the building with the elevator. It was perfect when I was loading and unloading with little kids in tow, but honestly, most of the time, we just took the stairs. The elevator was well maintained but just slow. Also, we heard a child running on the floor above us. Didn't bother us (since we were probably making as much noise) but not sure how people without kids would appreciate....

Review 66:This was exactly what we needed to visit with family in the Pittsburgh area. Enough space for my two kids and room to "entertain" our family that lives in the area. Neat, clean, the staff was great. I took a long shot of asking for bed rails for the twin bed for my two year old and they accommodated that. Even had access to free laundry facilities!

Review 67:There wasn't any pans to cook in the kitchen or cookie sheets.

Review 68:I like the location to the stores and restaurants. Everything was within walking distance.

Review 69:Bathroom too small. Lack of elevator should be noted on site.

Review 70:Great staff-friendly and helpful. Loved the apartment feel and space. Loved the Wheel Deliver service which allowed us to have great food every night.

Review 71:Neither of the two TV's worked. Couldn't get any front desk staff by the phone system. And needed to walk across a busy street if I needed to talk with front desk. Felt alone

Review 72:I was looking forward to a suite. It was just ok. More like a small one bedroom apartment in an old building.

Review 73:Location could have been more walk friendly, but that wasn't much of an issue since we were driving anyway. Would have been great to have breakfast served somewhere, but I want to stress that these weren't at all big issues

Review 74:Low price, but very clean, comfortable and well maintained. They're apartment buildings that have apparently been converted into hotel rooms. Staff was great and helpful! I could see how parking could be an issue if the place is packed but I think we came in on a relatively quiet time.

Review 75:The location is not too far from downtown Pittsburgh, but quiet enough to have a good sleep. Safe neighborhood, great restaurants nearby. Also good to see the Carnegie Mellon campus

Review 76:We really appreciated the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. It was our second time at Shadyside Inn, and I'm sure we'll be back when we're next in Pittsburgh.

Review 77:The bathroom was a bit dirty - my son found a lot of hairs on the floor & in the shower

Review 78:Stayed in a suite because it gave more room when traveling with teens. The staff where lovely & very helpful. rooms were mostly clean & well decorated although the shower was a bit dated. stayed in the S Negley building, which was very handy for Walnut St restaurants & shops.

Review 79:My only complaint was the parking. The inn is broken up into several buildings and I was initially confused as to where to park temporarily while I checked in at the front desk. There also seemed to be limited parking and we ended up having to park across the street and up a hill from our rooms.

Review 80:Super convenient to the Shadyside neighborhood - specifically the restaurants and bars on Walnut Street. The room itself is a mini-apartment - felt like a home away from home!

Review 81:It was a little noisy, when people came in at 3 AM above us I could hear their footsteps and bathroom noises.

Review 82:The rooms were beautifully decorated, spacious, and clean, the shower was hot and the water pressure great, the kitchen was well supplied, and extra towels and toilet paper were on-premises if needed. Closet space good too.

Review 83:The wifi got a little sketchy one morning. Otherwise, it was great.

Review 84:After staying one night at a franchise hotel, I found this gem on booking.com and decided try it out. Wow--my stay at Shadyside Inn became the highlight of my stay in Pittsburgh! For a better price than I paid for predictable lodging, I enjoyed a gorgeous well executed apartment-like bedroom suite, complete with a full kitchen. The surprises didn't stop with the suite itself. I walked less than two blocks to a quaint business district, with coffee shops, restaurants, and shopping options. This is now my go to place when visiting Pittsburgh.

Review 85:Each building has limited parking. Weekends it is harder to find a spot and you might have to park on the street or in an overflow lot. A little inconvenient at times. Someone in our building continually was taking up two spots. Security came over right away to contact the owner and the problem was resolved within minutes. :)

Review 86:The units are a good size and are very clean. The location is excellent as there are many unique neighbourhoods surrounding with shopping and restaurants. It is a short drive to downtown Pittsburgh. A car is recommended. Great place to stay if you want to be away from downtown and avoid higher rates with less amenities.

Review 87:I have no complaints.

Review 88:The room was amazing, the pictures on the site are completely accurate and the service is impeccable. We will definitely be staying there again!

Review 89:Strong disinfectant/cleaning product odor was almost overwhelming. Parking was awkward; definitley not for handicapped folks. Had a hard time figuring out where to check in, as there are several buildings, which we did not know ahead of time. Very slow, older elevator - be patient.

Review 90:Location is great, appliances were old, but functional. Wifi worked great. Free parking and overall price very good.

Review 91:The shuttle service is currently limited to 3-miles radius but some of the major happenings were farther downtown. Maybe in the future the shuttle could be expanded a bit farther out.

Review 92:I love the concept of revitalizing the old buildings without building a new "cookie cutter" chain hotel. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful, the shuttle service was a great bonus and the bed was so comfortable. One of the owners was in the lobby while I was there and I commented on how much I like the hotel - he gave the credit to his staff. That is the type of company leadership that makes a great product and I commend them all.

Review 93:Very good location and price was excellent. Front desk help very nice and when checking in we were given a gift bag. Will stay here from now on when in Pgh.

Review 94:Nothing except for the above which was unexpected, all was great.

Review 95:I rated the accomodations only good because I had an allergic reaction to the down bedding. However when I told the staff they immediately changed to the hypoallergenic bedding. They were wonderful. Thank you

Review 96:It was very chilly

Review 97:The room was like walking into a mini apartment it felt like a home and not a hotel room. The kitchen was perfect the bedroom was amazing bed was very comfortable

Review 98:1.The outside appearance definitely threw us off. 2. Housekeeping lady was rude. 3.We were skeptical at first when she knocked on the door with a back pack instead of a cleaning cart. But with no elevator in the building, what other option does she have.

Review 99:Loved the 2 bdrm apt suite! It definitely felt home away frm home.

Review 100:We stayed for the night in Pittsburgh to see a Steelers game and The Shadyside Inn personel were so wonderful. They went out of their way to accommodate us and our needs. They were very prompt and professional. I plan on staying there every time I am in Pittsburgh.

Review 101:Lots of stairs to get to the Suite. Not an issue at all, people should just be aware and plan accordingly. We really liked the old winding staircase. It had a cool character to it. A lot of noise from the occupants of #2 Howe came through the door that, we suspect, leads into the other apartment. More could be done to deaden the sound. The installation of a heavier door with better seals or acoustic-absorbent material around/draped over the door could do the trick. Higher quality pans would have kept our food from sticking and cleanup would have been easier. Having a tough Brillo-type brush could have helped as well and would offer the company a cheaper option than purchasing all new pans. We were really happy that the pans were there for us to use. We didn't expect the massive amount of kitchenware we would have at our disposal. It was a great surprise!

Review 102:We were offered a complimentary upgrade to one of the "Signature Suites." After reviewing the property, 3 Howe Street, my girlfriend and I were happy to accept the offer. Staff was very friendly and we were happily surprised to get a bag of complimentary items upon our arrival and check-in. The apartment was easy to find, located in a house on quiet Howe Street. The free reserved parking was great to have given the difficulties associated with on-street parking in Shadyside. Location was great! We were only two blocks from all the bars, restaurants and shops on Walnut Street. The Suite itself was nice. It was pretty quiet because we were on the top floor. The ceiling had a lot of cool angles from being directly beneath the roof. The Suite could have slept 5 (two queen-sized beds and one roll away cot that was already there in a closet). It felt pretty spacious for the two of us. The furniture was the proper size for the room. The light color scheme and use of mirrors contributed to the spacious feel (Well renovated!). The couches were really comfortable. So were the beds. There was a lot of natural light. It seemed pretty clean. We enjoyed the property so much that we opted to buy groceries at the nearby Giant Eagle to make ourselves breakfast on Sunday instead of going out for Brunch. The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast. All pans, spatulas, glasses, etc. were available. Table area looked like a great place to hang out with a bunch of friends and have a few glasses of wine with dinner. It was a very relaxing space. We definitely felt rejuvenated when we returned to school on Sunday. We will definitely stay again in the future and recommend that others do as well!!

Review 103:Just the bed, which I thought was a little too soft and the shower, whose flow could have been stronger.

Review 104:We were there overnight but with kitchen facilities and a generous living room/dining room it would be a great place for a more extended stay.

Review 105:There was not a lot of parking in the parking lot late night, but we were still able to park on the street. Not a big deal at all!

Review 106:Beautiful apt. that was very clean. We traveled with another couple and it was really nice to have privacy while at the same time sharing the apartment. The balcony was a wonderful added bonus! The treat bag was really nice and the kitchen has everything you would need. The location also made me feel safe! A+++++++

Review 107:The location was wonderful, close to lots of restaurants and shops. And the apartment was nicer than the one I live in! Spacious, clean, with everything I could possibly need for my stay. The staff was also very welcoming and helpful.

Review 108:Multiple refurbished old apartment buildings are part of this hotel which are not interlinnked. Not many great resturants around. limited shopping nearby. if you are single and want to have well known resturants around then its not th place. Elevator is pathatic. parking is not great either

Review 109:It is meant for people who would like to have their own cooking interests. Decent living room besides a good size bedroom. lots of small value items in the room. close to downtown / university.

Review 110:The 2bdrm we stayed is for only for 3 guests which doesn't make sense. The second bedroom is small and only a twin can fit, but there is plenty of a space for sofa sleeper or full size couch in the living room, so four or even five should be able to stay. The bathroom is very small.

Review 111:Much more space in an apartment instead of standard hotel room. The living room and one of the bedrooms are very spacious. The small goodie bag is a nice touch. We only stayed one night so didn't use the small kitchen but seems to be adequately equipped.

Review 112:1. The is a remodeled apt complex and infrastructure needs to be looked at. A. Electrical receptacles are so old they no longer hold the plug ins. Our recharging plugs fell out of the wall on more than one. UNIT A203 B. Can here guest above us easily. C. Cold water handle in shower leaks when turned on. If it is leaking into tub, often will leak behind the wall.

Review 113:1. Very Spacious and remodeled nicely. 2. Great location. close to CMU and shops, restaurants 3. Very friendly front desk staff.

Review 114:Best accommodation ever! Large, living and dining area, kitchen and two TVs. Bed was outstanding-lots of pillows and mattress that beaconed you to stay. The gift bag of juices and goodies - PERFECT. Wonderful staff. Will return.

Review 115:The bathrooms are original -- clean and freshly done -- but small. Really small. But who spends that much time in the bathroom?! And, the beds were sooooo soft. But that's just a preference issue. Still all in all a great time and would come back for sure.

Review 116:Awesome, charming hotel with amazing space in a great location. Clean, fresh and comfortable, with an accommodating staff. Two short blocks away from the Shadyside shopping district, coffee and dinner and a short drive to the universities. Highly recommend.

Review 117:The place was very large and clean and functional. The staff greeted me with cookies, goodie bag, etc. Nice. Also, if you like to watch TV, they didn't mess around with a "hotel" TV interface, they just gave you full Comcast.

Review 118:Shadyside Inn is by far the best place we stayed in Pittsburgh. Service is customer-focused at all times. You are greeted with a goodie bag. Housekeeping stops by to see if your room is okay. Everyone who works there goes out of the way to ensure you have a great experience. It's within walking distance of everything you need in the city: restaurants, art, shops. We will never stay anywhere else in Pittsburgh.

Review 119:The unit was very spacious, clean and pleasantly decorated . The location was convenient for the things we planned to do in the city and close to numerous restaurants and other shopping and services.

Review 120:Nothing to complain about! Wifi could be a little faster but this is a common problem in hotel/public wifi.

Review 121:We had a 2 bedroom suite, which was lovely, spotless, and conveniently located a very short stroll from the excellent shops and restaurants on Walnut St in Shadyside. The staff could not have been more friendly or welcoming!

Review 122:Everything about our stay was wonderful, nice staff, willing to help. Delivered toiletries we forgot right to our door would def recommend to anyone staying in the area. We will most def stay again!

Review 123:Lack of amenities- bedroom controller would not work, were not told how to gain access to building. Do not recall any mention on web page of no ADA help. Were placed on a 3rd floor room with only stairway access. Cut our stay one night.

Review 124:It was clean

Review 125:My only criticism would be the limited parking in the lot. We always found a space, but I did see that someone had hit another car because of the tight space to turn around due to cars squeezing themselves in to fit.

Review 126:Shadyside's employees were extremely friendly, the suite was way above our expectations for accommodations and the location was just perfect. We walked to walnut street for meals and shopping; Pamela's diner had an incredible breakfast. Overall, it was a perfect stay.

Review 127:I stayed in two different locations, of which the one closest to the Shadyside Inn´s main complex was the nicer suite. Both were good, though, spotless, spacious and well equipped. I arrived late and was happily surprised to be given a goodie bag of juices, muffins and chocolate to tide me over until I could find a restaurant. Service was excellent, neighbourhood pleasant and not far from the city center. The hotel provided shuttle service to their other location (basically a house with a few suites on the pretty S. Highland Ave.) Would definitely return.

Review 128:The house keeping just provided one time cleaning service during my 4 nights stay. Even I asked the cleaning lady in person to clean the room , she said yes but didn't do it at all.

Review 129:The friendly and nice service provided by the employees in the front desk

Review 130:While the location was excellent, the apartment faced right onto a very busy street. It was quite loud at night and that made it difficult to sleep, even with all of the windows closed. The staff would do well to include earplugs in the welcome bag, or include fans in the bedrooms for the white noise they would produce (even though there is air conditioning.

Review 131:Really liked the location and the welcome bag with edible goodies in it.
