Reviews for Friend's Hostel
Review 1:Not in center, but it was not difficult to take the 88 bus from here.
Review 2:The staff, Juliya. Super nice and helpful whenever I needed anything. Nice room, good bed, nice bathroom, fast wifi. Clean. Shops nearby
Review 3:Excellent combination of location, price and service! The bedroom and bed sheets are clean, the main room is extra large, I am a frequent traveller and never seen such a big one (even amongst higher rated hotels) for that price. Julia (manager) was very careful and attentive, provided all I needed. Will be back again!
Review 4:We came at 3 am and have been waiting for more, than 1 hour in the corridor to open room. In the room was not possible to breathe due to the cigarette smog. Neighbors were drunk and dangerous, we did not receive any help from staff. Door lock of the room was broken, we couldn't open it for few hours, when we have been inside of the room, was not possible to connect with reception. We asked for a compensation, staff told: will speak about it in the last day. In the last day they told us wait for Manager for 4 hours and no compensation finally!
Review 5:Nothing what I can reccoment - awefull place.
Review 6:Location isn't bad with bus 88 running nearby from city centre but the main competition is right in the old town which would be handier.
Review 7:Inexpensive. Quality better than most hostels. The dorm was actually a multi room apartment over two floors with kitchen and lounge upstairs and beds down. This all entered from 6th floor of a hotel in which a pope was once a guest. Not many hostels can claim that. Note that there is no actual place called Friends Hostel. That is just the booking name for big rooms within the Irshad Hotel subdivided into dorm accommodation. Check in at the hotel reception.
Review 8:Impossible to find. It's actually the Irshad Hotel, Friend's Hostel is indicated nowhere. Staff. Quite far away from the center.
Review 9:Reasonable price.
Review 10:Location not in the center and quite a walk from metro station.
Review 11:Very comfortable accomodation with excellent facilities (we had a balcony with a view on the park and even a jacuzzi), not far from the city center. It is more like a good hotel than a hostel.
Review 12:The only inconvenient might be for non-Russian speakers because not all employees speak English well.
Review 13:The staff from the hostel were very nice. They helped us with each issue that we had. For example, if you need a visa in order to come in Azerbaijan and if you need an official confirmation for your accommodation, they will provide you very quickly. Also, we asked to help us to make a transfer by car from the airport. The price for the transfer was like normal prices for taxi and maybe lower than if you take a cab directly from the airport. The hostel in placed on a beautiful boulevard, it's about 15-20 minutes by foot from metro station and two or three metro stations far from the city centre. The room looked very nice and was on the same floor where Holy Rome Pope John Paul II stayed in 2002. :) We are happy that we spend our time in such a nice place. Highly recommended.
Review 14:Good hike from the nearest accessible Metro station (28 May). Ganclik is closer. but the walk involves terrifying dashes across busy four lane roads that don't have crossings or underpasses or not any that we could see anyhow. Reception is unbearably hot as well but that's par for the course in this part of the world.
Review 15:Room was excellent, very clean and comfortable with a big balcony with good views over the park below. Bathroom was spot on too and our room had a lovely living & kitchen area which we shared with only one other room. The 'hostel' is actually just a section of a hotel with shared facilities and our bit was more of a big shared apartment than a normal hostel set up. Either way it worked really well and for Baku this place was excellent value. Staff were very good and friendly too. A few spoke English, one of them very well.
Review 16:Problems with stove and minor problems with water
Review 17:Plenty of room, comfortable beds, friendly staff.
Review 18:A/C would automatically turn on. Had to call front desk multiple times for them to switch it off.
Review 19:WiFi didn't work properly in all places
Review 20:Kind and hospital staff members, who do anything to make you feel like home
The Fine Print
