Reviews for Lamp Post Inn

Review 1:heater is not working well and I visit there during snowing day...

Review 2:bed is warm and comfortable great space for family awesome location, some markets is near by hotel

Review 3:I had a corner room, #110, and I loved it. It felt more like a retreat house than a hotel. I loved the look and cleanliness of the room. I will definitely use Lampost Inn again when I'm in town. Staff was friendly and I liked the breakfast room too.

Review 4:I realize this is a difficult thing to control but the noise level was a little much (and I'm not just referring to fellow residents) It might be helpful to invest in better soundproof doors and windows considering I could easily hear the elements outside-- e.g. wind, trash bags blowing--along with voices that carried.

Review 5:Thought the room was very clean and cozy.

Review 6:This is an older property that I heard is under new management since our last stay. It's not fancy, but is comfortable and economical. It seemed like the ceilings had acoustic tile added so the room was very quiet (yeah!). Really conveniently located.

Review 7:The front desk person was more interested in herself and making it seem like she was doing me a favor. Instead of being helpful she was slow and too busy doing nothing to look busy and important. I called early (9:45 am) to see if I can check in early and how early. She told me she already had a unit assigned but I should call back to see if it is ready around noon or 1:00 pm. What she should have done (as all better hotels will do) is that she would advise housekeeping to make this the first room they clean (when available) and she would call me to let me know it was ready. This way I had to call at least 5 times. Each time she told me she did not have the updated list of rooms ready. That is ridiculous. This is a small motel, all she had to do is ask the maid to call her when she was done with room #122. The breakfast is a joke. Stale bagels, cereals and that is pretty much it. They serve lousy coffee. The breakfast area is a dump and no one cleans the tables so mine was all sticky and unclean. When I tried to print my Boarding Pass I was told the computer did not work. The room is so-so and the bed is okay but the bathroom is tiny and the shower is so small that if you want to change your mind you have to go outside. The carpet is not too clean either. The TV is small and set so low that it is not easy to watch from the bed. Not a good hotel at all.

Review 8:Not much. The location is good and that is about all that is good about this place.

Review 9:The price for the room would have been exorbitant for the property but it was big football game weekend so that was expected.

Review 10:The room was immaculate and the beds were comfortable. It had clearly been recently painted and athough bathroom was dated, everything was in working order. Micorwave and small refrigerator were plusses. Continental breakfast okay.

Review 11:This response is NOT a ding on the Lamp Post, but, I was told there was a key drop box outside the office. I was leaving at 3:30 a.m., so there was no one to ask, "where, outside the office?". So, I stuck the key in your mail box. Hope you got it, cause I never found the drop box.

Review 12:Clean, comfortable room and bed

Review 13:The bathroom was a little out dated. The shower was tiny with no bathtub.

Review 14:We booked our room for a great price. The room was clean and the beds were comfy. The staff was very friendly.

Review 15:The room was supplied with new towels on Saturday. But dishes in sink were not done. A cap off of something was left on the floor from previous tenant.

Review 16:I like the location

Review 17:The AC/heater unit was older but did work well, even if it was a bit noisy at times.

Review 18:The breakfast was basic but fresh every morning. The room I had was renovated and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 19:2ND FLOOR - HANDICAPPED AND WAS EXTREMELY HARD GOING UP AND DOWN. THE PLACE NEEDS A SERIOUS REMODELING...TOTALLY GROSSED OUT WHEN MY HUSBAND KILLED (AT LEAST 2 INCH) MILLIPEDE COMING FROM THE BATHROOM...DISGUSTING TO SAY THE LEAST...THANKFULLY WE WERE LEAVING AT THE TIME TO CHECK OUT

Review 20:THE BUILDING LOOKED GREAT HOWEVER QUITE DECEIVING

Review 21:Door straight to outside. Some hotel guests aren't respectful of late hours and you can hear them talking through the night.

Review 22:Good for the price and proximity. Microwave, fridge, coffee, free breakfast, espresso shop within walking distance, close to shops and downtown.

Review 23:The building is showing its age, but was still clean and functional.

Review 24:Good value for money in Ann Arbor and close to restaurants, a shopping mall and a bus route.

Review 25:stove was unusable smoke alarm went off when used.coffeepot leaked coffee when pouring it. Rugs were old.

Review 26:Convience to shopping groceries. Room had kitchenette.

Review 27:The shower water temperature fluctuated a lot during a short shower and water pressure in the shower pretty bad. The TV stand was broken. The free breakfast was very basic and not great quality.

Review 28:Location was good - proximity to campus and Trader Joe's right next door.

Review 29:Breakfast

Review 30:The location is good and the staff very friendly. We had a problem with booking reservation (biking reserved but it was overbooked) and they helped us to find a solution.

Review 31:I wish there was a pool. The only vending machine (soda pop only) had nothing in it.

Review 32:Didn't need to go far for anything you may need. ie: food, gas, various shopping. Obviously an older place, but clean. Friendly staff. LOVED Trader Joe's next door!

Review 33:Bathroom was extremely small and dated. Breakfast was very basic, coffee, juice, bagels, toast, cereal.

Review 34:Clean room with kitchenette was nice. Location was very close to hospital which was purpose of my visit. Staff was pleasant and friendly.

Review 35:The humid carpet, the zoo of bugs inside the room, the horrible shower drain, the completely unsafe lock, the unusable wifi, the sad breakfast, the broken window.

Review 36:There is not really much to like in this one

Review 37:The room is small and old. The wall is thin and peeling. Breakfast isn't that impressive.

Review 38:Lots of free parking and it's very close to major high way and shopping area.

Review 39:The recent refurbished rooms were pleasant and well equipped for travelers who wanted to eat in rather than going out. We were drivng cross country and were tired of restaurant food. Also, the location is excellent. It's not far from the University and there is a Trader Joe's walkable from the inn.

Review 40:The approach of the outside looks a bit sketchy the hotel is defiantly a great value but could turn guests away by the older look of the outside. Rooms were nothing fancy but Comfortable. Defiantly could use some outdoor remodeling.

Review 41:The room was clean and comfortable. Great place for a short stay. Breakfast was very basic muffins bagels cereal toast.

Review 42:Be aware that this property considers 6 pm to be a "late check in" so if you're planning to be there after that time be sure to let them know or they will charge your credit card. This was a great annoyance, especially considering they had to call to tell me and it meant roaming charges on my phone.

Review 43:No staff during the night. All night long a group of crazy people were really noisy... The rooms are really old, some of the sinks are cracking, the toilets are making strange noises like every 2-3 minutes.... TV was off and nobody to ask for help...It was a hard night!

Review 44:The rooms are decent and clean.

Review 45:Nothing. Everything met our expectations.

Review 46:The staff were courteous and friendly, especially Laurie, the owner/manager who waited to welcome us even though we arrived after 10pm. Her concern and offer of hot coffee was so welcoming after a long drive from Chicago.mwonderful, first impression of The Lamp Post Inn. Our rooms were very clean, apparently newly refurbished. The mattresses & pillows were very comfortable. We'll definitely stay here again.

Review 47:musty and pee smell in room, plaster ready to fall off walls, shower so small that you can't turn around in it. the whole building needs to have major repair!!!!!

Review 48:nothing other than cheap

Review 49:The sink was leaking and all the hardwear was not the best.

Review 50:The room was very nice. Everything was brand new. The staff was very friendly. We will be staying there next year for the same festival.

Review 51:the wifi there was terrible (so be prepared to use lte) and I could hear the sound of the television of a room close to me

Review 52:the beds were great and the room was quite big; the shower worked perfectly (better than in some 4-5 star hotels) and I could control the temperature of the room; the staff was kind and the breakfast was ok

Review 53:The problem was that there were no coat hangers or other space for coats. There did not seem to be a hair dryer. The access stair cases were rather run down

Review 54:The room was very clean and the bed comfortable.

Review 55:Although there's a posted "no smoking" policy, we were getting a fair amount of second-hand smoke from the folks next door.

Review 56:The location for us was great! Also, considering that our time at the motel was limited, it was a great price. It was clean and comfortable and the staff are always very pleasant and helpful.

Review 57:Carpet was worn and "tired" looking...The bedspread and bedruffle were dated and "tired" looking. Hopefully the renovations will be sooner than later. No hair dryer in the room but could get one from the front desk. This is a problem in the winter if you dont notice this before taking a shower! Would be nice to have at least one feather pillow on the bed.

Review 58:Location for what I was doing was easy to get on campus and visit my daughter. Shower was nice and hot with strong water pressure, heater was excellent. Was told the hotel is under renovations, unfortunately the room I had was not one of the renovated ones. I'm an international flight attendant and stay in many high end hotels. My expectations were not high as I read reviews before booking and booked at Lamp Post because of the reasonable price and location.

Review 59:Windows were thin and one-sided so it was a bit colder inside. Thanks to big heater, it was warm to sleap.

Review 60:Clean big room. Parking slots available. Staff very heplful and nice. Very close to UMich (if you drive). Some shops and restaurants just behind the motel.

Review 61:blinds are broken. inside the room can be watched even at night.

Review 62:i go to michigan to visit UM. From here, i can go both north and south campus by bus. covenient. but, it is a little bit far from downtown.

Review 63:It was like our room hadn't been used in a while. It had a bit of a damp smell. Could be related to the change in weather though. I'd still go back.

Review 64:Inexpensive and very close to U of M. Easy to find. Fridge and microwave in room, and free wifi.

Review 65:The maid forgot to clean my room on Thursday claiming I had the do not disturb sign hanging on the door. I did not. The decor is stuck in the 1970 and the bed was quite lumpy as were the pillows. With a simple decorating redo, the Lamp Post Inn could raise its cache as a place for parents to stay in Ann Arbor when visiting, or moving their kids there to attend the University of Michigan.

Review 66:The Lamp Post Inn was less than 2 miles from my son's apartment. Good TV with Comedy Central. Free Wi-fi, but at times it was spotty. I kept drinks in the refrigerator. The price per night did not rise because of Saturday's football game and that is why I ended up staying there. Staff was very nice and friendly. My room was clean.

Review 67:An older unit in great location for MI Football games. I imagine they are full every home game weekend, due to pricing. But it is an older unit, deceiving from exterior, catering to lower income people. Their ad and picture make it appear to be something else. Very noisy, all mechanicals are very old, beds are horrible for senior guests. It is a "place" in city of AA, and much less costly than competition; however, it is a dive. John Kirkman

Review 68:Location

Review 69:WiFi is so week that I can't check my email——I'd rather to pay for a acceptable WiFi instead. Besides, door and chairs are a little old.

Review 70:Near a bus station where two buses on the route. A supermarket is just near by. Free breakfast (good!).

Review 71:Construction going on. Construction workers drinking after work outside our room! Beds were horrible. Carpet disgusting. The bathroom was ok and kept clean by staff.

Review 72:The trader joe's next door. Close to university of michigan.

Review 73:Mattresses could stand replacement.

Review 74:The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the rooms had a refrigerator and a microwave, and the location is very near the University of Michigan hospital.

Review 75:Poor WiFi network, unable to work even for emails. Small and ugly bathroom. Small dinning room for breakfast.

Review 76:Excellent location, close to University. Nice, comfortable room with fridge and microwave.

Review 77:The wifi wasn't very strong in the room.

Review 78:The place is situated in a place from where there is easy access via bus to center of the town.

Review 79:Older property, but for the money, that's just fine.

Review 80:It was clean, neat, warm, and cheap.

Review 81:Room had no closet (but we didn't pack a lot, so it wasn't really much of a problem).

Review 82:Friendly staff, clean place, comfortable bed.

Review 83:The lamp post inn is the areas best kept secret

Review 84:Room was updated, very clean, nice attention to little details, really easy access to wi-fi

Review 92:Very comfortable

Review 93:Front desk people seemed a little... brisk/cold. Not bad, overall.

Review 94:Very nice location! Trader joes right next door was a bonus.

Review 95:Updated and a great value and close proximity (walking) to the Stadium.

Review 96:Noisy neighbors. Poor breakfast.

Review 97:Location is fair. Trader Joe's and Whole Foods nearby.

Review 98:Great proximity to U. Michigan. Flew in for a football game, parents weekend and the hotel was just what I needed. No frills, but clean, convenient.

Review 99:Staff was pretty nice. Overall, great value.

Review 100:Poor lighting, no closet, tired (but repainted recently)

Review 101:No problems.

Review 102:Quiet location handy for my music festival. Very helpful staff and owner Laurie. Plenty of parking.

Review 103:Room size small for 4 persons Breakfast items can improve

Review 104:Good location and room was clean

Review 105:Friendly staff and close to town. Fun atmosphere on game day.

Review 106:older room

Review 107:close to convention site

Review 108:Breakfast - not too much of a choice.

Review 109:Low price. Easily accessible with car when coming from DTW airport.

Review 110:Cold coffe at breakfast

Review 111:The bed

Review 112:they allowed me to switch from 2 to 1 night when i checked in. They gave me headache pill cuz pharmacy was closed.

Review 113:Very noisy. Had people talking outside loudly at 230 am

Review 114:Nice space and clean

Review 115:I thought they would have a hair dryer for guests to use. Most places these days do you have them

Review 116:Size of the room. Friendly staff

Review 117:Good location, being upgraded

Review 118:No bathtub. Our fridge was frozen over. The beds were full size not even queen.

Review 121:It's a pretty old motel.

Review 122:Mildew on shower curtain, broken tub drain, broken window curtain, holes in lampshade, imdifferent staff.

Review 123:friendly staff

Review 124:Wifi not working

Review 125:Friendly staff, good location, good beds

Review 126:Clean, but renovations definitely needed.

Review 127:Breakfast by 9am was gone ! Need to top up for later users
