Reviews for Kervansaray Canakkale Hotel - Special Category
Review 1:The designated parking area is quite far from the hotel.
Review 2:Excellent location right in the city. Friendly staff and very helpful. Walking distance to the ferry jetty.Definitely will come back in future...
Review 3:No cleaning service during three days stay, at breakfast hot items (scrambled eggs etc.) were not kept warm
Review 4:Very central location, charming building, friendly staff
Review 5:Though the location of the hotel is good, the parking situation is unfortunately difficult and inconvenient.
Review 6:Quaint hotel in the cobblestone pedestrian area near the waterfront. Good breakfast, comfortable beds, helpful staff, lovely courtyard. Family suite available.
Review 7:The only thing (!) we missed was a rain protection in the garden during winter time for smokers ;)
Review 8:Very caring reception (thank you Emre for all your help and hints!), very romantic rooms, and a garden offside the streets noises to relax by tea and lovely cinnamon cookies :)
Review 9:Rather too many winding stairs to climb to our rooms as we were on the top floor. Not suitable for disabled guests.
Review 10:Excellent location in the old town near the castle, ferries, seafront.Plenty of restaurants and cafes on the doorstep.Very helpful friendly staff.
Review 11:Like many hotels in turkey they charge in Euros. The dropping exchange rate has meant they can increase their income without paying the staff more.
Review 12:Close to everything .
Review 13:Very small room (but expected). Mosquitoes infiltrated the room - after a 2 hour hard battle in the middle of the night we had a pyrric victory.
Review 14:Very convenient location; close to the ferries (what you need to get to Anzac Cove) and the main strip. Decent buffet breakfast.
Review 15:When we first checked in there was building noise from next door but it stopped after five minutes and we didn't hear it again.
Review 16:We liked the peaceful inside garden and courtyard with free tea and coffee always available. We were a few minutes walk from the museums, esplanade and ferries.
Review 17:Staff were terrific. The secret garden was AMAZING. A little touch of paradise. Location - 2 minutes (or 1 if in a hurry) from the ferry. Nice cats... Would definitely stay again.
Review 18:Rooms are very small there are no space make you feel comfortable. But the staff were very kind and helpful, when i complained about the room they offered to change it to a bigger one and this was a big compliment for me.
Review 19:Very central location no parking lot though. They offer in a private parking area but 200 m away from hotel, very crowded. The building is very old but not renovated accordingly. High ceilings but noisy, coming from street day and night.
Review 20:Friendly helpful staff, good breakfast and uniquely set Hotel in center of Canakkle. Great home base for Troy and Galipoli. I highly recommend theTrou Galipoli tour through Crowded House Tours. Our guide Korvay was exceptional
Review 21:I liked my stay, the hotel is in the heart of the city, helpful staff, service and excellent breakfast. The hotel has an amazing historical atmosphere.
Review 22:Great hotel for a city trip. I would go again in a heartbeat! The hotel is relatively centrally located and it can be reached with the ferry and bus. The rooms are great, the staff very friendly and the breakfast was great!
Review 23:I had a great stay at the hotel and I felt like a princess. There was helpful staff; historical building; good breakfast, relaxing atmosphere; The hotel is in the heart of city and I could go around easily. I am happy I have made new friends among the staff!
Review 24:Was a wonderful stay at Kervansaray! The location is excellent, the staff are SO nice and friendly, especially Harun, my camera broke and he helped me call so many times and translating everything for me. Breakfast at the beautiful ottoman garden, could not ask for more!
Review 25:Our five-person apartment had three floors and toilet was on the thrird floor. One of us had difficulties to climb up the stairs.
Review 26:Nice appartment. Excellent breakfast. Very kind personnel. They knew contacts to find us a but trips to Troy and Istanbul. This spared a lot of time. However, the personnel had a western state while we wanted to find Turkish specialities = do not try the restourant they recommend :-D
Review 27:The blanket wasn't wide enough to cover the two of us. Breakfast was OK in terms of variety but the quality and freshness wasn't good.
Review 28:Located in a prime position with ferry station just around the corner. Lots of restaurants around.
Review 29:Nothing!
Review 30:A friendly greeting on arrival; friendly staff during my stay Great location - lots of restaurants close by; close to ferry Quiet The hotel and room has a lot of character Comfortable bed Great breakfast
Review 31:It was a bit noisily in the first night. Our room was overlooking the street and in the same day there was some publuc (political) event. Maybe this was the reason for the increased activity of trucks (collecting garbage and cleaning the streets)
Review 32:The location was perfect. Canakkale is not a big city and distance is not a problem. But it is very important to stay in a neighbour that represents the atmosphere of the town. This is was this hotel does best.
Review 33:we had a blackout for a couple of hours and heating system took a bit to long to get working, we had to ask for support from the staff a few times until the room reached a comfortable temperature
Review 34:it is in the right spot. Convenient parking arrangement.
Review 35:Breakfast menu can contain more
Review 36:Nice and helpful employees, perfect location, housekeeping Some comments said room is cold and bathroom is not clean but I definately not agree because air condition worked effectively and bathroom cleaned very well.
Review 37:The noise from neighboring bars was very intrusive, not stopping until 2am. And that was in February, mid-week! The breakfast was disappointing (and we normally love Turkish breakfast).
Review 38:We stayed in the special suite our kids termed the "Treehouse." Very cool, unique set-up, with 3 different mini floors connected into 1 large "room" (hard to tell in photos). The brick & enclosed gardens lent special charm. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was great for walking to restaurants, to the (film) Trojan horse, and along the waterfront.
Review 39:The room was too small and the raised shower booth made it slippery/difficult to take a shower.
Review 40:We love the location of the hotel. It's right by the pier and restaurants etc. We had a car and the hotel staff even helped us parked it and picked it up for us the next day. The staff was very helpful. We accidentally left a shopping bag there and the staff helped us mailed it to Istanbul. I would definitely recommend this place to others!
Review 41:Wifi did not work, though my laptop was able to get wifi on the bus to and from Canakkale, it was not able to connect at the hotel - which the hotel blamed on my laptop. TV didn't work; staff couldn't get it to work. Honor bar was empty. Took 15 minutes of running the water to get hot water to the shower or bathroom sink. Whether the can for placing one's soiled toilet paper was sanitary was questionable.
Review 42:Location, historic building.
Review 43:The shower/bath is an accident waiting to happen. You have to climb up into the shower and climb back down afterwards. It needs a step. You can hear the people in the next rooms all night. The person in the next room laughed so much I there was a hyena in there.
Review 44:The position of the kervansaray was very good. The garden did look to be a nice place, but it was cold and not the place to be in winter.the staff were also very helpfull and gave all the information needed.
Review 45:Getting off the ferry at Canakkale we were delighted to find the hotel within walking distance to every thing we wanted to see, great restaurants, shopping, and all the charms of Canakkale. The hotel was able to give us a map and make excellent suggestions for dinner. They were simply awesome.
Review 46:Nothing.
Review 47:The staff were amazingly helpful. We had been disappointed by a prior reservation and not stayed. We arrived very late at night and a day early at the hotel and the staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were impeccable clean and the breakfast buffet provided an excellent selection. Thank-you so much!!!
Review 48:Rooms facing the street can be noisy cause of the bars.
Review 49:an old building turned to a hotel. Real wooden floor, really high ceiling old style look. Even my daughters loved it. Excellent location
Review 50:A beautiful hotel. Its slightly faded grandeur is very evocative and romantic, as is the courtyard, with its fountain and its tangle of rose and pomegranate vines. The breakfast was lavish and there were little cakes in the room when we arrived. Staff are very helpful and the location is ideal.
Review 51:Good old wood flooring :)
Review 52:To explore canakale and gallipoli otel location is ideal 4 min away ferry . Staff are polite and very helpful Great big old historical house Fantastic for value
Review 53:On the second morning a large party were leaving early and there were not enough staff to cope. Breakfast was depleted even though we were there by 7.30am. Breakfast tables were not cleared - had to clear one ourselves. No staff appeared to fix things until just before we had to leave.
Review 54:Location Staff Size of room Breakfast excellent
Review 55:They put the bill for everyone through onto one person's credit card without asking, had a huge confusion to get things sorted out.
Review 56:The location was great, very close to the ferry and in the centre of town. Our rooms at the back overlooked the garden and didn't get any road noise Comfortable rooms Helpful staff Parking facility nearby, all very easy even though town centre
Review 57:Staff can be disorganised at times
Review 58:Staff are so friendly and helpful, hotel rooms are clean and tidy, great location close to the marina, breakfast was ok. All round We had a great stay at the hotel!
Review 59:Very poor sleep because we could hear guest next door on mobile or Skype which started at 2am! Noisy rooms, doors that bang downstairs ,and a dangerous bath/shower to get in and out of.
Review 60:Nice eating area outside if weather is fine.
Review 61:The Wi-Fi worked only in the garden, not in the rooms.
Review 62:This hotel was very close to the waterfront and all its cafés & restaurants. The room was a bit small (as seems typical here), but was comfortable and had a fridge. The garden terrace was a very nice place to relax. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Review 63:Location, great for everything. Close to Gallipoli and Troy and ideal for a stroll along the waterfront for sunset. Loved the floors and decorations.
Review 64:The bath was rather awkward to get into because of the glass door which was static and covered half of the side of the bath to keep the floor dry (which it did!) - I'm not fully abled bodied so obviously things can be more awkward for me, may not be a problem but thought I'd highlight. Only downside.
Review 65:Lovely hotel, breakfast in the garden with a resident grey silver tabby cat, nice room decor, comfy bed. Nice big windows too. The reception is great with old Turkish ornaments and Turkish tea/coffee making facilities. I would absolutely recommend. Reception staff incredibly helpful - we admired some music they were playing and they went to the trouble to find us later and tell us what that style of music was called. Thank you Mr Gokhan and colleagues!
Review 66:Nothing !
Review 67:It is a great historical hotel with a great location. Staff goes above and beyond to do anything for you. Love the room with high ceiling - feels spacious. Will be back !
Review 68:The parking arrangements.
Review 69:The staff were very helpful. The hotel is in a vibrant area of town, close to reastaurants, shops and the maritime museum, but it is quiet at night. The inner courtyard is charming.
Review 70:Only minus was the loud sound of the mosque 5 o'clock in thr morning, but you will get used to it, cultural differences after all!
Review 71:Perfect location! Rooms are not spacious, but it turned out that it is usual for Turkey! Nice garden with WiFi and cay or cafe served!
Review 72:Breakfast had enormous selection but it all looked a bit tired. Don't play music and put on the television at full blast ar this time of day!
Review 73:Good laundry service, next day despite it being Sunday AND a public holiday!
Review 74:No elevator
Review 75:1.) Location! very city center and less than 10 min walk distance to harbor! 2.) Staffs are really friendly and helpful, nice service 3.) various choices for breakfast
Review 76:The rooms we happened to book and get were quite small for two twins each room. There was some issue getting our booking status confirmed at check-in due to language and booking.com unfamiliarity though it all worked out in the end. Really all quibbles though and would stay there again.
Review 77:Very much liked the garden / courtyard. The breakfast was varied and high quality. The staff were very pleasant and tried to be helpful. The rooms were clean, etc. The authentic older character of this boutique hotel was correctly a real draw. Also, it is located right near restaurants and services in the old town near the ferry and castle museum.
Review 78:Simpaty and courtesy of the staff. The room was old but nice (as it is in an ancient building). Room breakfast was inmersed in a garden and it made breakfast deliciuos (in addition it was abundant, in particular several type of cakes were served).
Review 79:Parking is a little difficult because of central location of hotel
Review 80:Beautiful suite, great ambiance, helpful staff, nice garden, excellent breakfast, very centrally located, charming town
