Reviews for Ravel Hotel
Review 1:Parking spot kept getting taken after we paid 25 a night. To many people going in and out of the club. Someone from housekeeping took water out of the refrigerator drank it and left it there never replacing it. No hot water in first room but maintance was there right away and they moved us and upgraded our room.
Review 2:Room was very spacious, bathroom was huge, room was very clean, Location, the view was amazing. Room was upgraded for free. Staff was very friendly.
Review 3:Nothing to say.
Review 4:It was at least 10 minutes from the train but it was comfortable, clean, I didn't really hear the music from the rooftop bar, shower was huge, and the staff was great.
Review 5:Nothing, it was really nice!
Review 6:The hotel itself is beautiful, our room was big and clean. Also the staff was friendly and helpful, the suttle service is free. On the top of the hotel there is a nice roof bar.
Review 7:The bed squeaks very loud and not stable, anytime I move around the bed will squeak. I don't think the house keeping did a great job at cleaning because I was walking barefoot, and I stepped on a small piece of glass which caused my foot to bleed. The area where the hotel is looks very shady.
Review 8:The staff was very friendly and professional.
Review 9:The heat kept switching to cool and that made the room get cold kind of fast.
Review 10:Went with my fiance for our anniversary and it was a really beautiful room. Really worth the money. We had the room facing Manhattan. A little far for the 7 train but there is a free shuttle so take advantage of it
Review 11:Room had bad lights, hot water was not available and had to follow up a lot, room location wasn't good. Bathrooms were leaking and water was everywhere though there were doors while bathing.
Review 12:Room Cleanliness, Shuttle service provided by the hotel.
Review 13:Cheap construction with thin walls, floors and noise from rooftop bar on weekend. Too many confrontational drunk people on Saturday. $10 a day for Wi-Fi in rooms!
Review 14:Comfortable beds with nice views of Manhattan.
Review 15:I'm note sure why there is staff in the kitchen during the breakfast. They stand behind the bar and are on their IPhone... no service and no smile.
Review 16:Nice place, nice room and good breakfast.
Review 17:Better view from room would've made the trip perfect.
Review 18:Amazing experience during the holidays. Roof top restaurant and bar was great. Perfect vibe!!!
Review 19:Only negatives would be that it's a little noisy, the finishes in the rooms are a little rough and the wine bar in the foyer is non-existent.
Review 20:Great hotel with very friendly staff! Very helpful. Very close to subway which takes you into the city in no time. There is a free shuttle however if you don't feel like walking. Great roof top bar looking over the city which has amazing views! Vernon street is a very short walk ( but again free shuttle provided) and has amazing restaurants! I would highly recommend staying here!
Review 21:We stayed 6 years ago when we last visited. This time we stayed for a week.. It was very good in all aspects nice large clean room, comfy bed and great location.
Review 22:Noise from the upstairs bar (extra loud from 11pm), breakfast is not worth the money, location is not interesting without shuttle service. Only one elevator working.
Review 23:Room and bathroom is amazing, shuttle service, friendly staff.
Review 24:The description of our booking was not met like extra bed in room & free car parking. Was given room with no extra bed & to charge me USD25 per day parking
Review 25:Complimentary Transportation to & from hotel to train station
Review 26:The loud drunk people walking the halls on the first night but nothing happened on the second night. The music from the rooftop bar/club is loud but expected for a bar/club.
Review 27:The check-in to the check-out was great! Plan to stay again when we visit NY!
Review 28:The only negative in our stay was the noise from the roof top bar on Friday and Saturday night. We were on the 3rd floor and bar is on the 5th, would not have wanted to be on the 4th floor!
Review 29:Room was a good size and beds very comfortable. Reception staff were at all times extremely helpful and very friendly. The shuttle bus that runs every half hour was really handy, it meant that we were taken to the subway that was relevant to our sight seeing destination. Also the cooked breakfast was a great addition to start the day of sight seeing, and surprisingly good. The view from the balcony of the skyline of Manhattan, although restricted by a building from our room was lovely, especially at night. Overall we enjoyed the stay and would definitely consider staying again.
Review 30:No bad experience here
Review 31:So my experience here at the Ravel Hotel was phenomenal! I initially booked a queen bed room and due to a mistake by the staff I was given an upgrade to a king suite with a balcony, the room was beautiful and the view was even better, my stay was super comfortable and everything was super clean, Johnathan (the staff) was super nice and super friendly and such a great help, this place was really cool. Thank you
Review 32:Hotel is trying to attract more of a younger hip crowd. It was undergoing renovations at the time I was staying there. Definitely needed a facelift, but for the price it was worth it. The lighting in the bathroom needs improvement...very dark when trying to do my hair and makeup. Not much around the area. Restaurants and shops are a bit of a walk, but if you enjoy walking take advantage and get out.
Review 33:Great view of the East River, Manhattan skyline and Queensboro Bridge! Rooms are very spacious compared to most New York Hotels. Metro is about 1/2 mile away that will take you into Manhattan. There is a hotel shuttle that will take you to restaurants and the train station, but recommend you get out and walk. Recommend a darling restaurant LIC Market About a mile from hotel.
Review 34:The location is a little far from the subway/metro. We were backpacking. Therefore, we took the subway/metro a lot. The nearest station was 1/2 mile (800m) away. Despite being a little suspicious at first sight, we walked safely late at night without any problems. If you don't have any trouble of walking a little bit, then it's not a serious problem. At nights, there are parties on the hotel's penthouse. We were on 2nd floor, so we didn't heard any noise from there, but we were close to the hotel's entrance, so we heard some people talking and laughing loudly late at night. It could have been more annoying, but we were so tired that we sleep nevertheless.
Review 35:The staff is very kind, the hotel has a very good appearance, except that there is an expansion ongoing, then the carpets on the corridors were a little dusty from the workers. But the room was nice, big, clean, with good bathroom, wi-fi available, many TV cable channels, nice conditioning air. They also offer a shuttle service that helps to get to the nearby subway/metro stations. From Queensboro Plaza, it's very quick to get to Manhattan's main attractions.
Review 36:USD150 "deposit" taken at check-in Free WiFi only in lobby
Review 37:Convenient location close to Manhattan Free shuttle to local subway stations (pick up and outbound) Modern, clean rooms View of Manhattan from roof top restaurant Helpful staff
Review 38:Heating/Cooling fan didn't work properly and couldn't not be control from within room. Had to be turned at the electrical box. The TV remote would not control the cable unless you were directly and within two feet of the TV. The bass sound of the band playing in the could be heard until the party ended at 3:00am.
Review 39:Need larger (oversized) bath towels in bathroom and shower needs to have more water pressure. Also Wifi should be free! : /
Review 40:The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean! Even though I didn't get to see or use it, I liked that it had a restaurant and room service with reasonable prices. :)
Review 41:Resturant over priced - paying for the view?? Staff not as friendly as the reception
Review 42:Free shuttle to subways. Only 6stops from time square. Friendly reception staff, free wifi in lobby
Review 43:The hotel is under renovation and I had to move to 3 rooms because of problems with doors that won't lock, etc. Finally the manager upgraded me in a lovely suite with a door that locked, but it was within earshot of the in-house night club which had loud pounding music until 2:30 AM. I had to call 2 times to complain until it was turned down a bit. I got very little sleep. All in all my stay was not a good experience! The management tried their best to make things right for me and gave me a number of perks which was very nice, but all the same it was a rough stay. I recommend waiting until the renovations are completed before you check in here...and be sure you get a quiet room not anywhere near the nightclub. Also, be aware that there is a long line of people trying to get into the club at night with bouncers at the front door of the hotel. You will have to navigate past all that to get to your room at night.
Review 44:The staff was accommodating.
Review 45:No late-night shuttle offered to get my daughter and I from the subway and it was a scary 8-minute walk for country folk.
Review 46:First time to NYC and the staff helped us get there and let us arrive late because we accidentally went the wrong direction on the subway.
Review 47:Undergoing refurbishment. breakfast not included and poor quality. No free internet in room or rooftop bar
Review 48:Good location with amazing views of Queensboro Bridge
Review 49:I could not hear the roof nightclub on Friday night as I was on the 4th floor and it was on the 6th floor. However, at 330am the night club crowd was on the 4th floor and shouting, screaming and making all sorts of noise for at least 20-30 mins. I am surprised security or staff did not stop this sooner.
Review 50:The proximity to the city was excellent. I don't think you can get closer to Manhattan and have free parking. Free parking is on the street but if you arrive during the day it is not a problem. Staff was very friendly.
Review 51:Mini bar was vastly overpriced, $5 for a water? A little out of the way for public transit, had to walk almost a mile to do anything.
Review 52:Great staff, felt safe as a patron and warned of potential noise issues for danceclub. Free access to rooftop danceclub was worth the price. Room was huge compared to my expectations. Excellent view of manhattan skyline, balcony was great. Very modern art-deco vibe that went well with area and people.
Review 53:Alot of traffic during the night in the first floor that I was the first time . Everything was very tight in the Lobby. Public areas not so clean
Review 54:Personel on the floors very helpful
Review 55:A little bit far from subway but they provide shuttle bus service which is pretty convenient.
Review 56:Our room was really spacious and clean, the breakfast was not bad, I love the omelette that you could choose fill-ins that you want.
Review 57:My wife hated the lack of lighting. She said she could hardly see her face to put on makeup. And being on the ground floor didn't help with the sound from the club. Didn't get much sleep.
Review 58:Free coffee in room
Review 59:The sheets on the bed were dirty. I asked for another set of sheets, the desk staff was unfriendly about it and when the sheets were brought to our room we found only two flat sheets that didn't even fit a king bed. No apologies either. Will probably not stay there in the future.
Review 60:We were not aware that breakfast was not free. If a guest at the hotel is going to pay for breakfast they should be told in advance. Usually a continental style breakfast is free. And when a person in a black suit hands you a bill it is a shock.
Review 61:Free shuttle to train
Review 62:Every weekend the resturant turns into a night club, you wont get any sleep at all, we were on our honeymoon and we didnt enjoy our time at the hotel at all!!
Dont go to ravel hotel!!!!
Review 64:wasnt safe at all... should have been advertised that they were under construction. Anyone off the street had the ability to walk in .. i would never stay here again.. nor was there security by the back of the building that they made an entrance.. unsafe with me and my child.. horrible view... claimed it was of brooklyn bridge... a lie.. was of a old abandoned buliding
Review 65:i hated it
Review 66:Wifi too complicated and not free.Too much noise from the disco at night. the lighting in both the room and bath room was much too dim. Hard to find dining in the immediate area and no restaurant. Hotel being renovated with much construction noise.
Review 67:The personnel was friendly and helpful. The shuttle worked reasonably well. The rooms were spacious, comfortable, and clean.
Review 68:The area looks doggy. It's not, but it really looks like. They're trying to improve the area, but seem the scene of a downtown film. Not suggested if you're grown up in silk sheet. Thursday to Saturday there's are parties on the roof-terrace, so you will hear someone screaming/laughing at 2.00AM in that day. But if you're a party person surely you can enjoy!
Review 69:The rooms are quite spacious, the bed extremely comfortable, delicious breakfast, clean even if is still a bit in refurbishment. The staff is really kind and helpful. If you need something cheap next to Manhattan, that's a great opportunity. The restaurant on the roof terrace is AMAZING. Sushi half price on Monday, it's the best thing ever! The free wi-fi is only in the lounge room (but there is at least!)
Review 70:I was on the first floor and could still hear the beat of the bass from the nightclub on the 5th floor. While it didn't keep me awake I can't imagine how loud it would be on an upper floor.
Review 71:The staff was very courteous. The room was very large.
Review 72:I didn't like how they don't serve breakfast in the morning. If I'm paying all that money for one night I would like that.
Review 73:The rooms are amazing
Review 74:You have to be over 21 to check in here. This is not mentioned on Booking.com. Luckily we were still allowed to check in but they have previously turned people away.
Review 75:elevator was very old but the location is under construction and will have new ones. This should not be an issue for long.
Review 76:Great location and very courteous staff.
Review 77:The room was small. They don't do a great job cleaning. The hotel is currently being renovated (and no one had mentioned that). Website said free parking, however all they had was street parking. Our door wouldn't lock from the inside, and they couldn't change our room because they were "sold out". So we had to be escorted to our room with a staff member each time we came back to our room. They offered free breakfast the next morning but we just couldn't wait to leave
Review 78:Loved the Penthouse 808 rooftop lounge. Great view as well :)
Review 79:No parking. I had to look for a parking space every night. One night I was outside for an hour and 45 minutes looking for a parking space. And while waiting for parking 3 RATS came out the bushes in ran behind the courtesy shuttle bus. BIG RATS
Review 80:Very nice place. Staff very friendly n courteous
Review 81:It is like the Best Marygold Hotel. In will be ok sometime in the future. Under long term construction. The restaurant bar at the top is nice with good view of New York. but is very loud, from Thursday to Sunday night, music goes till very late (easly).Get a room in lower floors
Review 82:The hotel is good value. Good location for subway stations
Review 83:On a weekend the nightclub music goes on until 04:00. Great for the young, but not for more mature people
Review 84:The view from the fabulous Fusion Restaurant is fantastic! You can see the whole of the Manhatten skyline which looks amazing at night. The food was lovely too! The rooms are spacious and comfortable and the girls on front of house were extremely helpful. A minibus takes you free of charge to the nearest subway which gets you to Times Square in about 10 minutes.
Review 85:Hotel is advertised as having private parking, but it does not! This is very misleading. Entrance is difficult to find and not very welcoming. No free wi-fi in the rooms!!!! Really???? Unbelievable! Traffic noise in the morning.
Review 86:Very nice size rooms for NYC. Comfortable bathrooms. Good beds.
Review 87:The state or repair everything in the building was in other than the room. Also, the security access controls or lack there of, partying on a Sunday with loud music until 3pm, and lack of the staffs action to address these concerns was alarming. Also, the charging process in advance of check in and $5 fee for non-returned room keys was unusual.
Review 88:The room and view
Review 89:Nothing.
Review 90:The view, the comfort of the bed and the awesome bathroom set-up were my top favorites. The staff were excellent...10☆rating. Will be back for sure. :)
Review 91:Not a dislike; Micheal and front desk staff very sensitive to the request. Security lock on the room door did not work; single woman traveling by myself; imperative security lock works. Michael sent maintenance to room; unable to repair that evening; changed my room. Thank you.
Review 92:I was in NYC on business, would return and stay at the Ravel. Liked the room, loved the furniture (unique); location convenient; look forward to completion of the renovation. Room very nice, loved the bathroom. Hotel under renovation if hall ways, once, finished, comfortable, European flair atmosphere.
Review 93:The loud music every night of the week made me leave the hotel before the end of the trip
Review 94:Room service can not be trusted and the loud music every night till 4 am Pisces me off to the point I left early
Review 95:The view from my bedroom was a grate and a dirty road. Too noisy at night. Outside people are welcome to walk on the hotel to take the elevator to go on the club top roof. Laughing screaming singing with no respect of the people in the room. There is no free parking. Unless you pay the valet. No breakfast. Very poor service
Review 96:Nothing
Review 97:The fact the hotel was in fact a building site was a little dissappointing. There was no pool as stated. The entrance cortidor and lifts were grubby to put it mildly.Booking muddle on arrival was a bit of alet down. But they sorted things out and gave us an upgrade!
Review 98:The staff were terrific and very friendly. The rooftop terrace is amazing with breathtaking views. The shuttle bus was great and very appreciated.
Review 99:Dirty / smelly , hotel is a building site workmen every where you felt you were in the way rooftop bar closed to private hire noise from customers unbelievable a nightmare !!!
Review 100:Since this only allows 2-3 sentences... It's absolutely discusting from the floors to the ceilings. Contraction and noise everywhere. If you're not European expect to be treated like trash.
Review 101:no wifi for free- its about time to be free everywhere. the area of the hotel is terrible- under the rails. all the area full of garages. they renovate the hotel over the head of the guests. they made a party in the restaurant on the roof and we couldnt sleep because of the noise in the elovator.
Review 102:i liked the rooms itself... but
Review 103:Was visiting the NYC area on 6/16/2015 and booked a room here. I was so disappointed on the uncleanliness of this hotel. There was some remodeling going on but, that was no excuse. The floors were filthy and the room was dirty. The smell of the hotel was terrible and I couldn't wait to leave. The pictures we saw on the website looked nothing like what I saw. There were cameras all over this hotel, I felt like they were even in the rooms. I can't believe I spent the money to stay there. So disappointing. I even emailed the hotel the day that I left and still haven't heard a thing back.
Review 104:Absolutely nothing!
Review 105:Currently building work is going on for future expansion so noise during the the day and less privacy, if you have the option choose a Manhattan facing view
Review 106:Very nice hotel friendly staff location was pretty good and the shuttle service to the station is a added bonus I would definitely use this hotel again rate this 4.5 out of 5
Review 107:Johnathan was an amazing host to my children and I. The room was amazing, clean and comfortable and I love the view of lower Manhattan from my balcony. All of the front desk workers was very helpful with any questions I had. This was my first time to New York and everyone may this experience GRAET, can't wait to go back.
Review 108:First impression we arrived at night - dark, scary outside the hotel and the vicinity.... I'm happy that inside our room it's clean and comfortable. Needs air freshener though it does not smell good checking in :(
Review 109:Clean room and bathroom. Free shuttle. Helpful desk receptionist made up for the renovation hassles.
Review 110:The hotel is renovation Deprived area Μuch noise from the street Τhe staff was rude Not clean Internet With charging Αway from the subway station
Review 111:Penthouse Bar on the top
Review 112:The main attraction for Ravel is the rooftop. So I planned for us to get there about 9pm on a Saturday night and enjoy food and drinks on the rooftop! Come to learn it was closed/reserved for a wedding!! I mean, could they reserve weddings earlier?! so we were not happy with that at all! Had our own little party in our nice deluxe room lol!
Review 113:The breakfast was too pricey for the quality of food we got
Review 114:As long as you book a penthouse suite you'll get breaktakong views of the Manhattan skyline!
Review 115:there was construction going on in the hotel the entire stay that sounded like it was happening in our room. at night they open the rooftop up as a nightclub and it goes until 4AM with the loudest base you could imagine. 3 sleepless nights with an infant-a horrible experience.
Review 116:Drilling and hammering by day, nightclub noise by night. Room had a ridiculous door that slammed into the toilet when you opened it. No rugs, and rooms seemed unfinished. The staff was friendly, the mattress comfy, but the bedframe was uneven and lifted off the floor every time someone got up. Could've used a touch more bathroom privacy as well. Did not love the open concept.
Review 117:You hear a lot of noise in the room, especially from the rooftop bar which continues until 4 AM!!! Terrible, this is not mentioned on the site, because I would not have booked the hotel, if I had known.
Review 118:Rooms are large and clean. Shuttle service to Subway is nice, although a bit inflexible.
Review 119:The staff started out nice then I guess the shift changed and we ran into one of the worse customer service I've ever received. I'm not sure if the hotel is worth the customer service plus the location and price. There's better hotels of cheaper in the city.
Review 120:Great view, beautiful hotle
Review 121:During construction: very dusty, didn't see the best of the hotel, construction work noisy at times. Paid wifi was unreasonably pricey,it should be free in this day and age.
Review 122:Location good for exploring Queens, and local Roosevelt Island is great. Counter staff are very helpful. Our room was very funky and large, with a big comfortable bed.
Review 123:I didn't know they charge money if you need wifi in the room. (Maybe the fault is on me.) The location is a bit far from metro, but the hotel offers shuttle every half an hour before 11pm. The balcony view wasn't so pleasant, because there is a little factory with two chimneys sticking out.
Review 124:The staffs were very friendly and helpful.
Review 125:When I booked the room I used my debit card (not thinking) so when we got to the hotel we gave them our credit card and they still charged our debit card. Not happy. Called because we were charged to much and employee who I tried to talk to about this was less than helpful. (not happy). Was told when we checked in that our room was upgraded for no additional charge and a different employee said we did not get a upgrade. (Everyone should be on same page). I do think that they may have a couple new employees and they have not been fully trained as mistakes where made with our nightly rate as well.
Review 126:Loved the view and the balcony. Got some great night pictures.
Review 127:no internet in the room, but i think it was a good thing. got me out of the room. was very comfortable ;)
Review 128:I really enjoyed this place! they upgraded us to a bigger suite!!!! fantastic room and bathroom, very chic with a balcony overlooking Manhattan. Great bar and restaurant in the penthouse again overlooking Manhattan. breath taking!!!! Will definitely like to go back. the distance from the hotel to the metro is bit long but its a cool area.
Review 129:The hotel is under construction and does not say that anywhere. We heard work around 5am
Review 130:The room was open and comfortable. Amazing view from our balcony. The rooftop party on Sunday was amazing
Review 131:Noise, Paying for wifi most hotels offer free. The price for drinks at rooftop bar.
Review 132:The hotel is in a good location10 min walk to a subway. Thr view is amazing i feel your paying for thatmore. Staff are really good. There is a rooftop bar is very expensive you are paying for the view. Its a good place but lots of noise.
Review 133:Hated hearing current construction at the location every morning.Penthouse security extremely rude, harassed one of my guest for noapparent reason. Restaurant waitresses incompetent.
Review 134:My view had to be the best I hardly left my room because of it
Review 135:don't book this hotel on a Friday or Saturday night. The accommodate a party on the roof top which is extremely loud, especially if you have a suite on the 5th floor
Review 136:very nice view over Manhattan
Review 137:There was construction going on during our stay which meant there was only street parking. Luckily, we stayed on a Wednesday night so we found a spot but the weekends can be a struggle due to the bar. We also stayed right below the kitchen which led to an onion smell and loud noises.
Review 138:My friend flew into JFK and we stayed her for one night. The price compared to other hotels was very reasonable. The decor of the rooms was up to date and everything was clean. The staff was also very welcoming and helpful.
Review 139:parking lot and entrance being redone. Never advised us prior to arrival. Entrance was not identified. One guest room reeked of smoke. Noise was unbelievable ,sleeping was impossible. Breakfast area was bleak.
