Reviews for Anzac Hotel

Review 1:The breakfast was the most ordinary one we had had the whole time we had been in Turkey. There was a lot of food but it wasn't that fresh or nice. The wifi reception was poor.

Review 2:The position of the hotel was excellent. It is very close to restaurants, the Metro bus office for travel to Istanbul and the ferry to travel across to the Gallipoli Peninsular. The hotel liaises with Crowded House Tours to make day trips to Troy and Gallipoli easy. The room was basic though comfortable and clean.

Review 3:Maybe the wifi could have been a little better or the cooked breakfast a little hotter, but I'm struggling to find anything to whinge about.

Review 4:Helpful staff, ample breakfast, good location, very inexpensive valet parking (parking in Çanakkale centre is a nightmare). Overall excellent value, and comfortable. I wouldn't even bother looking anywhere else for a return visit.

Review 5:We made the mistake of not putting the do not disturb sign on the door and were interrupted 4 times with loud knocks by the staff wanting to clean room. this probably wouldn't have happened if we realised there was a sign. Wifi didn't work in room.

Review 6:Clean modern room Free tea and coffee in foyer Great location Great breakfast Comfortable beds

Review 7:All good.

Review 8:Brilliant location very close to the ferry. Very helpful staff who assisted us with booking a fantastic tour of Gallipoli. Comfortable room with lots of space. Strong wifi. Delicious breakfast. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 9:very central location! they have 3 types of anzac hotel, "anzac", "grand anzac" and "comfort anzac", i was put to the "comfort anzac".

Review 10:Because many people in Turkey smoke it is hard for the hotel to get people not to smoke in their rooms even though there are signs that say no smoking. So the smell traveled into our room.

Review 11:They were very eager to please.

Review 12:Awkward half-bathtub with shower that was surprisingly difficult to get in or out of.

Review 13:Friendly, helpful staff, central location, small but adequate room.

Review 14:Electricity needs to be updated. We could see this after a fuse blew.

Review 15:The location is fantastic. The hotel is quiet. The breakfast is good. Staff are very helpful. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Review 16:The bathroom had a terrible odour, even after room service cleaved our room. Reception also smelled awful. The breakfast was very poor, most items did not look fresh and there were fruit flies buzzing all over. Corridors very dated, stained carpet.

Review 17:Easy to find and close to centre, much like other hotels in the area...

Review 18:Lift/Elevator a bit outdated and needs attention.

Review 19:Location was great for ferry, easy to locate bus station for Troy, close to harbour promenade where you can visit a Troy horse prop from movie one way & a military museum/castle in the other way. Mix up with a booked Gallipoli tour was dealt with professionally with a favourable outcome. Big selection at breakfast. Good large size room with tea/coffee facilities. Very clean. Good English spoken at desk.

Review 20:1. Ought to leave very early in the morning, missed the anticipating breakfast.

Review 21:1. Good location. 2. A comfortable hotel. 3. Friendly staffs. 4. Wifi works well. 5. The hotel has strict non-smoking policy with is very good.

Review 22:Friendliness and helpfulness of staff. They went out of their way to make our visit as successful as possible. We were on our way to lay a family wreath in Gallippoli.

Review 23:The lift was small and old.

Review 24:We liked the fact that we found the hotel immediately on arrival. It was central and near restaurants. The neon sign made it easy to locate.

Review 25:The lift of the hotel is very small. The rooms are small. The beds are small. No take away toileteries provided.

Review 26:The best part of the hotel was the location. It was very near the beach bay and the Trojan Horse. Deaprtment stores were next door. The Clock Tower was in front of the hotel

Review 27:1,perfect location, just beside the ferry,if you want to go back to istanbul you dont even need to go to otogar(1 km away ),just buy ticket and get on the bus at the ferry; 2,breakfast is good, 3,cheap price, 4,bathroom is big, bedroom is big enough for single traveller. 5,quiet at night.

Review 28:There was a high turnover of guests and a fair bit of noise within the hotel. Breakfast was only okay.

Review 29:We didn't stay in the anzac hotel but were taken around to the grand anzac. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We were grateful to the staff member who got us in our hire car safely onto the ferry -- he really went above and beyond to make our visit memorable.

Review 30:Two of the bathrooms had plumbing and other problems. Maintenance is lacking. The breakfast was not great.

Review 31:The location was great and the staff were helpful. The rest was pretty average.

Review 32:- Mould in the bathroom; - Shower cabin/ bathtub too tight; - Small parking lot - cars parked one behind another, so you might have to wait for another guest to return to the hotel to take your car out; - Noise from the street.

Review 33:- Nicely located just opposite the ferry port; - Close to the seaside walkway; - Surrounded by restaurants, cafes and fast food restaurants.

Review 34:Door to the balcony didn't appear to lock

Review 35:The location of this hotel is fantastic. Incredibly good value for the price paid. Comfortable beds, clean rooms and breakfast included.

Review 36:Great location, friendly, helpful staff. Rooms were spot on. Breakfast was plentiful with a great choice. Perfect place to stay and real value for money. Everything you need right on your door step and a stones throw from the ferry.

Review 37:Nil

Review 38:The location is ideal. Its a few meters from clock tower & the ferry boarding area. A number of nice restaurants are in the area. The best thing is that its a lively area till late night, which even has bus booking & boarding. The staff was outstanding & extremely helpful. Hotel was neat/ clean with all comforts & tasty breakfast.

Review 39:Breakfast just fair

Review 40:Very closer to bus stop after getting off the bus , easy to find the hotel Near the food street Lots of food stalls nearly the hotel

Review 41:The hotel was fine for our needs, however it was a basic hotel and reflected the price. The real pain was WiFi kept dropping out and required constant password input.

Review 42:Location was fine for visiting the Gallipoli battlefields.

Review 43:The new otogar is a really long way out of town, much further than described in guide books. But, you should be able to get a free company servis bus to the port area.

Review 44:Excellent location right near Port and where many company buses depart for Istanbul. Also near otogar for sol uses.

Review 45:Staff were very welcoming and helpful. they gave us directions to tour the town, find a good restaurant and the way to catch the ferry. they arranged to park our car (for free) and had to brought to the door promptly when we left at 0845. Barvo! Well done.

Review 46:-the noise of the street and of the ferry(all night many cars) -parking far away 0

Review 47:-the ferry is just in front of the hotel<100m -the matress are very good (hard) -the breakfast buffet with all kind of meals:fruits, vegetables, cheese, olives, cakes, coffee, juice, etc -staff very friendly, good english speaking, very helpful -lift(elevator)good for carrying luggages

Review 48:The staff was very polite and professional. They also speak English; Big room very comfortable; Perfect position for the city center and the ferry boat

Review 49:the staff at front desk is impolite. be careful if you chose cannot cancelled ,the hotel was charge you when you chose it, but i don't know. so when i check in, they charge me one more time, later they apologized for it.

Review 50:location is near the pier many restaurants nearby

Review 51:None!

Review 52:Fantastik LOCATION!! We are in love with Canakkale starting with ANZAC Hotel. They have a parking area just opposite the Hotel, and it's shaded by the buildings (this is a bonus in such summer heat)!. They staff are so friendly and relax, we feel like we arrived at a friend's :D And the information given is so easy to follow.

Review 53:the frig in the room was broken and despite promises, was never fixed. The entry into and out of the shower is dangerous and liable to cause accidents. The bed was a little too hard.

Review 54:Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is ideally suited to a trip to the Gallipoli battlefields

Review 55:There was no real communal area - the only 'space' was low-ceilinged and unused.

Review 56:An excellent location: we stepped off the boat and walked 100m to the hotel. The operation here is slick and effective with an informative front desk.

Review 57:room too small without view, window cant be opened, low value of money

Review 58:location in the center, close ti ferry and bus company, breakfast good though too little choice for jam, hotel can provide info and map

Review 59:Grimy surfaces, gross carpets, filthy mattresses, a rotten/fermented smell coming from the bathroom. Cheap doorknob did not feel the least bit secure. Staff was efficient but not especially welcoming. I was very glad to check out the next morning.

Review 60:Great location

Review 61:Staff were really great when we arrived with a large car and tired teenagers. They got us sorted out and parked the car for us. Laundry was organised for 15 lira per bag and back to us in 3 hours. Great location.

Review 62:Rooms small, airco was dropping water. They tried to repare it directly, they didn't succeed. The wifi was not working.

Review 63:The hotel was situated good, near the centre and the sea. The staff was very friendly and helpfull. Good place to park the car near to the hotel.

Review 64:Location was great. Just a couple of minutes walk to the ferry and very central. Hotel was value for money. Breakfast was good with a large selection.

Review 65:A few feet from the harbor, right in the center of town, catering to Gallipoli/Troy visitors, Anzac knows exactly how to treat their foreign guests. Rooms are small and comfortable, the free breakfast is a HUGE buffet, the people at the desk very accomodating, the Wifi works well. For the price, couldn't be better

Review 66:We booked the Anzac but we're put into the Grand Anzac hotel, for which these ratings apply. Carpets throughout need urgent replacement.

Review 67:Location. Helpful staff.

Review 68:I had no problems with the Anzac Hotel.

Review 69:I managed to get a lift from the bus station at Ayvalik to the clock tower at Canakkale. My first impression when I walked into the Anzac Hotel was of a warm welcome. Very helpful staff. English well spoken. Maps immediately offered with information at hand. Easy to arrange for a tour to Troy. The room was spacious and en-suite. Breakfast in the ANZAC room (liked the mirrored pictures) was varied and filling. A superb base for a few days before heading for the Peninsula for a week. Would highly recommend the ANZAC Hotel. Impressive location. A few minutes from the ferry terminal for Kilitbahir and Eceabat.

Review 70:Stale bread every day for run of the mill breakfast with many bored looking waiting staff ! no decent toiletries in bathroom hence take your own !

Review 71:Check in staff # handy location# although central , room very quiet # Wfii reception #AC

Review 72:A little noise made by the ferries until midnight... It was not quite a problemm

Review 73:personell - fully proffessional; kind, giving nice local advices Location - strategic!

Review 74:Nothing

Review 75:free wifi, breakfast incld., we e-mailed them about how to travel from Istanbul to Canakkale also about Day Trip to Gallipoli and Troy and they arranged transportation and Gallipoli tour with their friend's company 'Crowded House' nice tour and good guide on that day (transportation + tour is 140 TL per person). Please e-mail them after you have booked the room, staff is really helpful and super friendly.

Review 76:This hotel is the best hotel we lived during our journey. Well-operated heating system kept the room warm. Anzac provided a rich breakfast every morning, and it was the best breakfast we had during our journey. At last, the bed was comfortable.

Review 77:Great location in the town centre with private parking. Very helpful and kind staff ready to give us advices about the neightbourhood. Very good rooms (they also gave us a bigger room for free and allowed us to check in much earlier than expected!).

Review 78:The GPS location seems not to be so accurate. Because they have the Anzac Hotel on the main road and the Grand Anzac is on the street nearby. Anyway, you can ask the staff at Anzac Hotel for help.

Review 79:The location is good, but it's not on the main street. If you drive there first time ,you can ask the staff for help to park the car because roads there are all one-way roads. The room is quite clean and the breakfast is quite good.

Review 80:The bed mattress needs to be changed to a more comfortable one. rest seems to be good.

Review 81:Arrived early morning, the guy at the desk arranged a room in their sister hotel right away. He was a great help with tips places to visit in Canakale and Troy. Hotel is few steps away from the port and close by to the bus companies. Certainly recommended hotel. Great value for money too (Feb2015)

Review 82:they transferred me into "Anzac Hotel Comfort" not the "Anzac Hotel"(3 star) I booked. what's more important, the sound-proof ability of the wall is so poor that I could clearly hear the next door's conversation.....:(

Review 83:the location is really good, convience the staff is nice breakfast is ok

Review 84:Slight smell in bathroom.

Review 85:Staff was incredibly helpful, friendly and could not have been nicer! The location of the hotel is great for all access to things in Cannakale and to the Ferry for the battlfields! Hotel has an excellent breakfast! I highly recommend this hotel for visitors traveling to Cannakale.

Review 86:There is a central staircase in the building which makes it quite loud as the walls are as soundpoof as paper.

Review 87:Amazing breakfast, probably one of the best we had in our month in Turkey. Good location and very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 88:Unfortunately there was only one plug socket to be found in our room & this was used for the kettle.

Review 89:The staff at the Anzac hotel were extremely helpful, especially with tips on local tours to Gallipolli, infact they booked the tour on our behalf. The ferryboat terminal, sea front & the Trojan horse are literally a few minutes walk from the hotel,we could actually see the ferryboat from our room..Lots of local eateries to suit all pockets within walking distance.Breakfast was sufficient.

Review 90:Very accommodating staff, they give us city map and clear instruction how to reach Troy. Food are also good, specially the potato with herbs, vegetables and fruits are fresh. Room size is small but complete facility, with extra pillow and comforter.

Review 91:If wifi dropped out in off peak could be a real problem in peak times.

Review 92:We travelled at end of peak season and benefited from lack of crowds. Were moved to their property around the corner and subsequently very quiet. Good breakfast, good friendly and helpful staff. Large room Double+ single bed. Had room for a couple of lounge type chairs which would be a benefit if you were staying longer. Would recommend to others. John M

Review 93:The staff is excellent, friendly, specially the young man who stay at night. They help in all you need. Very good breakfast, and the room is enough confortable, have all you need. It´s a simple hotel but very good.

Review 94:anzac hotel have three ns the anzac grand is brilliant the clocktower is good but more noise due to its close beinging on the square staff are good the grand is on a side stret is and noise is not so much a problem /saff ae great

Review 95:Nothing, everything just great there

Review 96:Everything was perfect there: location, staff, cleaness and comfort. The breakfast was one of the best during our traveling. We liked our staying there so much and would love to come back for sure.

Review 97:This hotel is all good stuff, nothing bad happened here

Review 98:Great great staff, they helped us get around the whole area, and helped us plan our trip in the region, then called the Gallipoli simulation center to make sure they wait for us to attend the last show, plus giving us gifts and souvenirs when we left...amazing staff really Breakfast was great, nice variety and good quality small rooms but very comfortable

Review 99:Smell of the room's bathroom Small pillows Hotel is a bit old as well as its amenities

Review 100:Reception staff was very knowledgable and helpful Location-very near the central tourist area and good restos

Review 101:We had short staying at the hotel. The reception Mr.Serdar was super nice and welcoming. He gave us many advices to look around and made us feel more than welcomed!

Review 102:This is a great hotel with very helpful staff. They suggested walking routes for us around the city and arranged very reasonably priced car hire. Breakfast was a buffet style and plenty to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend it for value for money.

Review 103:Little bit small but enough.

Review 104:Friendly and helpful staff excellent location. I can recommend to any body, who wants value for money. I went in 12th of October.

Review 105:The hotel has been renewed during the last years, but I guess, it was a "partly" done job. E.g. you can see that the doors are new, but not the door frames, the air vent in the WC was broken, etc. However, the room is stil adequate for the standard guest.

Review 106:The hotel's location is top! Mid in the city, near to all sightseeing spots and the ferry port. Although it is very hard to find a parking place, the hotel has a small parking lot where you may park without additional costs. The hotel employees are very helpful and kind. They have shown us all the sightseeing spots with a helpful map, and given us a small "gift box" with books about Çanakkale and Troia after our checkout(a nearby historical spot). The room was equipped with a water heater and two cups of tea, satellite TV, safe and fridge: everything you need :)

Review 107:We had room at front it was very noisy from early morning.

Review 108:The room was spotless, clean towels everyday, breakfast was fantastic , staff really friendly and helpful, location good.

Review 109:Rooms are very small, but reasonable for what you pay. Large groups of interstate school children made for a very loud breakfast experience.

Review 110:Proximity to everything and the staff were very helpful.

Review 111:The surrounding streets were very crowded and the noise lasts well through the night. Also beware that there are 3 hotels with this name (like a mini chain) within a radius of 100 meters, and not all three are equally new or provide the same quality. When we checked in they had us in the system of course, as they are all connected, but they did not tell us that we actually reserved the other hotel Anzak which was just down the street (newer and better). We were staying for one night only as we were just travelling through to another place, so we wouldn't bother to change once we realized what happened, but this was not professional to say the least.

Review 112:Location is good, and the room is ok for that price. There is a parking available on site which is great considering that parking places are rare in this part of town.

Review 113:Standard triple room is really small, additionally we asked for an extra bed...

Review 114:The location of the hotel is perfect, near to the center and the ferry port. There are good restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Breakfast was OK. The hotel is clean and nice.

Review 115:Shower over bath - needed to climb over high bath, falls risk. Also older hotel and some of the seal was a bit mouldy looking.

Review 116:Excellent location -close to the water and the main street Clean Decent breakfast

Review 117:Our room stunk quite badly - probably from the drainage in the bathroom. As the hotel is situated in the centre which is very lively - it could be a bit noisy during the night time.

Review 118:The hotel has an ideal location for the ferry service and the centre of the town. The rooms are alright - nothing special but decent for couple of nights. The breakfast was nice.

Review 119:Rooms are very small -we couldn't even find enough space to open our luggage A/C was making some noise -not a big issue No shampoo, conditioner, tooth paste etc. at the room Wi-fi was not available (probably a temporary problem)

Review 120:Located at the center of the city -walking distance to almost anywhere Nice & polite staff Good breakfast

Review 121:-Wifi Connection in the rooms were bad.

Review 122:- I can't tell much about the Anzac Hotel, because we we're upgraded to the Grand Anzac Hotel. This was quite nice!

Review 123:Have just spent 3 nıghts at the Anzac hotel. Hotel ıs sıtuated steps away from the ferry, port, replıca horse of Troy, shops and a 5 mınute walk to naval museum. I was allocated a quıet room wıth frıdge, kettle, aır condıtıonıngş safe and sattellıte TV There ıs also a coffee machıne ın the foyer that guests can help themselves to 24/7. Hotel also provıdes a computer that guests can use to access ınternet. Breakfast ıs by far the best I've had ın Turkey such a huge choıce. Staff are frıendly and eager to assıst guests as requested. Hotel ıs reasonably prıced and I wouldnt hesıtate to stay there agaın.

Review 124:We had a electricity cut off at the evening several times. There wasn't any power supply or didn't work. We used our telephones. There was no emergency lightining at the corridor, there was no illuminated emergency exit panels ext. They're not ready in any case of emergency :-(

Review 125:Location, location, location

Review 126:No negative points.

Review 127:The location was two minutes from the ferry terminal (for those wishing to travel to Gallipoli peninsula), there were plenty of small fish restaurants surrounding the hotel which were excellent, and the whole vibe of Cannakale was relaxed and hassle free. There was also a small outdoor military museum down the street which was unexpected and very interesting. The staff are happy to help arrange tours and the breakfast was plentiful and varied.Tea and coffee facilities in room.

Review 128:Suggest people check out Grand Anzac as well, you may end up there.

Review 129:Didn't stay at Anzac, was compulsorily "upgraded" to Grand Anzac. May have been an upgrade, I don't know. Breakfast was good.

Review 130:Very noisy during night because of the location right in the town center. Not recommended if you want to take a good sleep.

Review 131:Very friendly staff, very clean and cosy room.

Review 132:I think I expected better facilities for a 4 star hotel.

Review 133:The staff were excellent.very helpful. The breakfasts service was very good. For our overnight stay it did the job.
