Reviews for Ridgeway Inn - Blowing Rock
Review 1:Breakfast and happy hour left a lot to be desired, but would return to stay again.
Review 2:Very convenient location and cozy mountain setting. Was within walking distance of downtown area.
Review 3:The only thing I didn't like was the tiny parking lot.
Review 4:The warmth and coziness of the room was very nice. I liked that there was a single pod style coffee maker in the room, with flavor options, but the free breakfast was also good and I enjoyed the wine reception in the early evening.
Review 5:First night bed we used had a slight dip in it. Second night we used the other bed and slept fine.
Review 6:Location and staffs desire that everything is ok with stay.
Review 7:The coffee maker in the room did not work.
Review 8:Clean room, friendly helpful staff. On Christmas eve, the staff left a great goodie bag in our room. Great snack for the evening, champagne, and breakfast. So nice.
Review 9:The room was not cleaned, the bed was not made, coffee was not replenished and staff did not show any concer. Also I attempted to call management by phone (3 times). I left messages but no return call.
Review 10:We are used to the expansive lodge at the Village Inn (sister location), so this was quite a bit smaller, although it was still perfectly nice. The juice at breakfast was rancid, and they were out of yogurt. Again, if that's the worst I can come up with, it's still a great place.
Review 11:The proximity to town makes this perfect. We were able to leave our car and walk everywhere. Clean room and sizable bathroom!
Review 12:There was really nothing we didn't like. Perhaps in our room it was awkward because there was no proper closet. The TV was in the wardrobe and the wardrobe was our closet.
Review 13:Location to town was perfect. Room was clean and had a suitable temperature without any problems. Morning breakfast was very adequate and came with the booking - not extra!
Review 14:Rain so stuck in tiny room. Stores closed at 6p.m. so nothing to do. No chairs to sit in to watch TV. Had to drag two chairs across room that was tucked into corner, to have a place to sit. Wide angle lens must have been used because room was SO tiny. Would never stay or go there again.
Review 15:Nothing
Review 16:We loved the cottage we stayed in. It was so comfortable, clean and the surroundings were beautiful! Would definitely go back! The staff was great too!
Review 17:We really enjoyed our stay at the Ridgeway Inn in Blowing Rock. The location makes it within walking distance to great restaurants and shopping in the downtown area. The rooms are very quaint and clean. The price is very reasonable.
Review 18:Breakfast area was a little crowded, but the food was very fresh.
Review 19:Location was great. Five minute walk from mainstreet Blowing Rock. The room was very clean and would stay again.
Review 20:The room was very dark and the AC unit did not work well. Also, the bed was very used up. We kept rolling into the middle.
Review 21:The location was great. We also liked the breakfast room, very cozy.
Review 22:Room was very small Pedestal sink...no place to set things Water took a long time to get warm for shower
Review 23:Friendly staff Walking distance to downtown Blowing Rock
Review 24:Small window air-conditioning unit took hours to cool the room. It took a very long time for the water to get hot. Our view was of cement roofs. No space to put anything in bathroom.
Review 25:Quiet, pretty grounds
Review 26:Music would be good during breakfast time instead of CNN. Guests can watch the news before coming to eat.
Review 27:Quiet, good breakfast choices, good shower, helpful staff, great location!
Review 28:room was a little small, only room for one chair besides the bed in our room. but still ok.
Review 29:location. very convenient to downtown, parkway and local attractions.
Review 30:Great location. Easy walk to downtown shopping &a dining. Good breakfast. Better than usual motel breakfasts. Enjoyed managers wine & snacks hour.
Review 31:Good Location just off the main street. Reasonable sized room with 2 queen beds. Happy hour with supplied wine & nibbles. Adequate continental breakfast. Friendly staff.
Review 32:Beds are very uncomfortable, air conditioner not adequate for room size, location of specific rooms noisy due to being on a main road
Review 33:Friendly Staff, free breakfast, close to downtown, clean rooms
Review 34:Two of the three nights of our stay the air conditioner froze up and started to make horrible noise at 3:00am reported next morning front desk clerk same thing that night. Also rates increased for event that we went up for. Will not stay there again
Review 35:Excellent location great assortment of breakfast items and for the most part good staff.
Review 36:WI-FI service didn't work while in the rooms- We had to go outside (which wasn't bad because of all the great seating options). My only complaint were the walls were so "thin"- you could hear conversations, kids crying, and every thump and bump. I am a light sleeper so for me this was annoying.
Review 37:Loved the property! Very quaint and rustic with several great spaces outside to sit and enjoy. Very clean and well-maintained for an older motel. Location was perfect-walk to all shops and restaurants.
Review 38:There wasn't anything we didn't like about the Ridgeway Inn! It was our first time and we have already booked for another stay in September! Everyone was so kind and helpful; I don't see how anyone would not love to stay there!
Review 39:I think overall breakfast was good but several days was told y'all were running short on items and was disappointed with the assortment.
Review 40:The wine and snacks was a plus and something we really liked.
Review 41:My husband and I both have bad backs, and we found the beds much too soft. We had trouble sleeping. Also there was not sufficient parking spaces which caused trouble for my husband who has trouble walking. We were not able to park in front of our unit.
Review 42:The inn was conveniently located close to downtown, and the facilities were extremely attractive both inside in and out. It was in easy walking distance of restaurants and shop if a person so desired..
Review 43:The inn advertised a pool but it was not on site. It was a quarter mile away and a public pool with no lounge chairs for relaxing.Tons of kids screaming and running and splashing. As we were looking forward to a quiet mountain pool we were disappointed with this option.
Review 44:Lovely Gardens and beautiful wood decks gave the inn an alpine feel.
Review 45:Been visiting Blowing Rock for years, always staying in one of two places as close to town as possible. This will now be our new home. It is close and the rooms are bigger. Most important, for elderly, it is a flat 2 block walk to the park.
Review 46:All was good. Nothing bad
Review 47:Room cleanliness was fantastic, staff prompt and courteous, facility great, continental breakfast was some of the best I've had for a smaller inn.
Review 48:There wasn't anythi b g that I didn't like about it.
Review 49:The room was very clean, and the breakfast area was also clean. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.
Review 50:This hotel was far more than I expected it to be. It was cozy, comfy, conveniently located to all kinds of fun town attractions, and had wonderful amenities. Awesome place!
Review 51:I was pretty surprised to find that our room did not have air conditioning. Not only that, but the ceiling fan could not be turned on without the fixture lights also coming on. I had to unscrew the light bulbs just to sleep with the ceiling fan on. I realize that this is the high country, but it was still pretty warm in late May and I was very uncomfortable trying to sleep in a hot room.
Review 52:Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean rooms. Excellent location.
Review 53:No big deal, but the heater in the bathroom was not working. It was chilly those nights, so a little heat was needed. Fortunately, the heater in the room worked fine.
Review 54:Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 55:There are just a few little things they could do to make it perfect, like have music playing during the wine & cheese hour (it was eerily quiet) and have sugar in the raw or other options for sugar for breakfast. Those sorts of things would really push it over the top from being good/great to being fantastic! :)
Review 56:This is such a cute spot: Comfy, clean, friendly, and I love their wine & cheese hour, and they had Brie cheese! What a wonderful surprise :) Within walking distance to Blowing Rock, this is really a great spot.
Review 57:Need update outlets to three prong receptacle. WiFi SSID broadcast didn't match instructions and was given an invalid password.
Review 58:Room very nice and clean.
Review 59:Mattress was a little soft. Office hours for a business person maybe a little tight. These would not stop us from staying again and are only listed for improvement suggestions.
Review 60:Wine and snacks at arrival was great. Room was clean and decor was rustic. Bathroom was nice and water pressure was excellent. Great location to walk downtown and breakfast offered many options. Kudos!
Review 61:We had coffee, cups, and set ups in our room, but NO coffeemaker! It started our morning out not good, but in the big scheme of things, not too big of a deal. Just no way to get ahold of someone to get one, had to go to a coffee shop across street, which is amazing
Review 62:I loved the location and the accommodations are very cozy. I wouldn't be comfortable with a long stay, maybe a couple days. Right behind Mellow Mushroom!
Review 63:When we first checked and there was urine on the toilet even though it look like the bathroom had just been cleaned. The breakfast was below mediocre but they made up for it by having a complementary happy hour
Review 64:Beds, service, and style of room was perfect. Hardwood floors and marble Shower make the room feel elegant and classy. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful they were so friendly it felt like a home away from home.
Review 65:It was warm when we arrived and to our dismay there was no air conditioning in the room. The walls are thin. We could hear a kid banging the walls and parents yelling at him.
Review 66:The location.
Review 67:Bed was too soft. TV was small and sat to low to comfortably watch while laying in bed. The entry to room had a spring loaded double door that would always slam shut, made it hard to get luggage in and out of room.
Review 68:Room was clean and shower had great water pressure. The free breakfast was good.
Review 69:Checking in is tad confusing if you've never been and it's already dark. If you arrive after a certain time you have to get your key from an envelope and check in the next morning
Review 70:The room smelled like a pine tree and was cozy, yet luxurious. Great outdoor seating area.
Review 71:The only negative we had was the breakfast was a little slacking and the chairs with wheels were awkward but this is not a complaint only thought for improvement.
Review 72:We loved the room and the location. You could not beat the price especially when on a tight budget. I feel like we got more for our $. We loved our stay and are already planning a return trip for a Mother daughters weekend. We are already looking to other weekends the family and friends can come up and stay. Your Inn and the town of Blowing Rock was very charming.
Review 73:The light outside the room made it very uncomfortable It never went off before we fell asleep The room was overcrowded . Closet and refrigerator with coffee are too tight The chair was not in a confortable way to use the laptop . I thought the price was too high for what I expected so we drove back home the next afternoon although we were hoping to stay another night Staff didn't seem to knowledgable about what the are had to offer
Review 74:Breakfast choices were excellent
Review 75:we couldn't turn off the heater. so, the room got too hot. we had to open some windows to let some cool air in.
Review 76:the beds were very comfortable. the room was very cleaned. the staff was very friendly
Review 77:The Wi-Fi didn't work a few times but not a big problem for us, we just used our phones.
Review 78:I loved the location and the cleanliness. The room was spotless! Will definitely stay there again.
Review 79:Faucet dripped, no fan in bathroom, odd heat(it was either hot or cold, never got comfy), while the mattress was comfy, we rolled towards the middle
Review 80:Quaint room, mini fridge, microwave, location (easy walking distance to everything!), friendly check in lady, key drop box for check out
Review 81:The wifi was available, but was too slow.
Review 82:Wayne and Levora were super-nice hosts. Room was comfortable, and very convenient to the attractions in the area as well as great restaurants.
Review 83:The only thing I can say negatively about my visit is parking availability. We checked in at 3, then went out to explore the area. Arrived back around 11:00 pm and had no place to park. We parked in empty space right across the street and found out the next morning we weren't suppose to park there. It all worked out, but be aware.
Review 84:The location to shops and restaurants is great! Room was very clean and comfortable. Very friendly staff at front desk too. I will definitely stay here again!
Review 85:Continental breakfast was fair at best. We checked into our room were given our keys and went upstairs and opened door and our room had not yet been cleaned. We went and had lunch at the mellow mushroom which is right next-door to the inn and came back in our room was ready.
Review 86:Loved the location… Very close to everything in Blowing Rock. Great value for your money.
Review 87:If first in the morning to shower, Hot water takes along time to get. 3 min. + - Area to eat breakfast very nice for 2 people when getting your plate. Seating for a dozen, any more everyone is waiting and bumping into each other. Trash can poorly located. Needs to be at exit to keep outward flow, not back where everyone is prepping meal
Review 88:Location is excellant to downtown. Well decorated and cute. Exterior rustic, Interior decorative and nice. Staff is considerate.
Review 89:Nothing!
Review 90:We traveled for New Years..loved the inn!! Great location, very clean and great office staff Cassidy!! Planning to go back Valentines weekend!! Can't wait!!
Review 91:Not very clean crumbs on the nightstand when we got there dirt on floor for the price for fifty dollars more I could have stayed at the Chetola Resort And Spa which has restaurant and bar and much more.
Review 92:Liked the feel and the look also the location is perfect
Review 93:I thought the bed was too soft.
Review 94:My husband liked how soft the bed was. The bedding was very nice. Loved the bathroom. Appreciated the trust w/the key system after dark.
Review 95:Coke machine outside room, bit noisy! Rooms fairly compact.
Review 96:few minutes walk into town, complimentary wine and snacks for guests was really nice, chance to chat to fellow residents. Very nice bathroom.
Review 97:Minor tv issue which the staff addressed right away. No complaints what so ever.
Review 98:Welcoming staff Super comfy beds Great location to town Overall great stay
Review 99:bathroom no vanity or place to put your makeup bags, blow dryer, etc. check in/check out - we asked a question both times and neither time could they answer - on check in told us we could walk to our venue Chitola which really you can't (dressed for a wedding) - check out asked for a breakfast recommendation and she told us a name but couldn't tell us where it was - anyway wasn't even open on Sunday told us to find it on the map she would have to look for us otherwise.
Review 100:hardwood floors, bedding like home, very clean rooms
Review 101:Mattress could have been a little better. Curtain for the window, our room had an outside corner light that was bright all night.
Review 102:Convenient to everything in the Boone area. Enjoyed being able to walk right outside the local town of Blowing Rock. Great trip.
Review 103:The photos are nothing like the real place . I wouldn't have recognized it except for the sign. Blacktop to rooms. And the rooms are the bare minimum. Window A/C, one switch controls both over head lights over beds and vanity area so you can't have the fan on without the light in the vanity. This should have been corrected by a electrician. No hooks in the bathroom for towels or whatever. Aside from this, the town of Blowing Rock is quite pretty with lots of neat little shops and a lovely park.
Review 104:location to town
Review 105:Bathroom could be cleaned better
Review 106:Location.
Review 107:No walking space on the wall side of the bed.

Review 122:Parking is a little tight, but was not really a problem.
Review 123:1. Walking distance to the downtown shops and restaurants. 2. Knotty pine ceiling.
