Reviews for Village Inn - Blowing Rock
Review 1:The front office was not open at 8 am for checkout or breakfast on Sunday morning. The cable was out all of Friday.
Review 2:Work well for our location. We love the parking at the front door. Salted the parking area during snow. Loved the breakfast choices for a quick breakfast.
Review 3:The staff was friendly and helpful. I traveled with my two adult sons and we had two queens and a pull out queen couch in a very comfortable sitting area. Nice big private deck that I'm sure is excellent when the foliage blocks the view of the buildings across the stream.
Review 4:I felt the room was a little musty and the bed linens were not attended to well. We didn't expect the sheets to be changed but the bed skirt was hanging off the first night but was never fixed.
Review 5:The location was perfect as we needed to be in Boone but enjoy all that Blowing Rock has to offer
Review 6:Apart from slightly damp room/ eccentric furnishing, it would have been good if someone was present at 8.20 to check us out/collect key and in particular to provide the advertised free breakfast from 7.
Review 7:Great when bypass complete!
Review 8:Internet service was not good. Construction on road in front. Price was not fair due to these conditions.
Review 9:Comfortable,clean and pretty back yard. Walking distance to town.
Review 10:Mold and mildew in the room made for poor quality of air. Ran the AC and bathroom exhaust fan continuously. We were also overcharged our rate for the two day stay. We demanded a refund of the overcharge after they argued about it. They advertised they are mountain cabins but it is not. It's a remodeled motel that needs better cleaning.
Review 11:Location is right on the main highway that is under construction. Difficult to access. It is close to restaurants and the liquor store.
Review 12:The Inn was hard to locate and get to due to road construction on Hwy. 321. The room was a bit small, but very comfortable!
Review 13:Josh at the front desk was great! Very friendly, welcoming and a fantastic attitude considering he was pulling an extra shift and short handed on such a busy weekend!
Review 14:I booked this room 10 months ago for 2 nights. We arrived for my birthday weekend and they only has us down for one night. We were told we had to check out in the morning after getting to hotel late in the night. They had no availability for us at all they had my confirmation from booking. Com but stated whoever put the reservation in on the Hotels end only put it in for one night. There was absolutely no hotels available in the area to accommodate our family. Apparently confirmation numbers mean nothing to this hotel. The manager would not even come talk to us. We argued for 30 minutes and 3 hours later they called and gave us our room the next night. Apparently they bumped someone else.
Review 15:Room was very comfortable. Mattress was nice and firm, didn't sag like some of them. Continental breakfast was very nice as was wine and snacks. Lobby was furnished very nicely and again comfortable.
Review 16:With the present road construction out front - it was not easy to get in and out of property. There was construction noise in the morning around 7:00.
Review 17:The room was too small and the pictures online were deceptive. Thought it was a bigger establishment by the pictures. Road construction a pain but cannot be helped.
Review 18:The room was well done. Furnishings ere nice and it was clean and smelled good. Loved the 5 o'clock wine and snacks. Josh was wonderful.. Friendly and helpful with what we wanted to do.
Review 19:The location was not easily to see since which I've noticed street signs are rare to see; too close to road/hwy.
Review 20:It was updated, that's always a plus. It was convenient to downtown Blowing Rock. The bed was really comfy, loved the patio outside. Liked they allow pets.
Review 21:Rooms extremely small, if you have a big dog, forget it!.no room forstorage, no room in bathroom for more than a toothbrush! The breakfastand "snack" offerings varied according to the person @ thedesk. Very limited offerings. We were not told in advance of the $25 pernight pet charge
Review 22:Pets allowed in certain rooms great location
Review 23:Access to ice machine was locked. No local papers to be found.Lots of spiders and webs on rear deck.
Review 24:Cleanliness and comfort of the room. Breakfast and evening treats really hit the spot.
Review 25:There was a damp smell in our room. We stayed in 2010 and noticed it at that time also. The good qualities outweigh the bad.
Review 26:We liked the lobby and the large tables. We met an old acquaintance and had a lot of old photo albums to share. We also enjoyed the wine and cheese at 5-I don't drink alcohol but it was nice to have time to unwind before going out to dinner. My husband and I have spent our life redoing old homes. We loved the wood and trim used in the building. It was beautifully redone.
Review 27:Actually, no negative experience BUT I have a critical suggestion: Each bathroom needs BARS within tubs! This releases YOU from liability from falls, etc. Even those with no disabilities need these. I had difficulties helping my friend in and out of the tub.
Review 28:The atmosphere, overall, was extremely pleasant and inviting. The surroundings were most pleasant and relaxing. Our room was extra nice!
Review 29:The maintenance needs looking into. Furniture and plumbing had screws loose. Wouldn't take much to fix them. I've seen repair cards for the guest to fill out. That might help.
Review 30:The breakfast was perfect.
Review 31:Front desk young man very unfriendly ..He seemed to be not focused on people ,and we felt like we were bothering him .He had the personality of a cucumber. It seemed just a job ,which is surprising for a customer service position .We will stay at Hillwinds next time
Review 32:Grounds and decor of room.
Review 33:TV wouldn't work, but we didn't have that much time to watch it anyway. The bed was too soft for my liking.
Review 34:The overall feel of the room was great. Very cozy place, well kept grounds. Peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed.
Review 35:The deluxe room had no bathtub, the shower was very small and the bed was too soft. The room didn't seem quite finished .
Review 36:The room was a nice size and decorated nicely. The back porch with the creek running next to it was very nice.
Review 37:The WiFi system was new and not available in our room. After some hiccups, we were given the code to alternate WiFi that worked. There was construction just outside on the highway.
Review 38:Our room was clean, there was a nice porch - too rainy for us to use, but good for a sunnier day.
Review 39:I loved the location. It was on the main 321 Hwy but it was not noisy at all. The private patio was nice with rocking chairs and pretty landscape grounds.
Review 40:room had no heat despite an outside temp of < 40 degrees, the hotel only compensated us with a 10 % ( $8 ) discount - even though you could see your breath in the room - will not return due to this lack of this inconsiderate response, Obviously, the clerk presenting this embarrassing level of compensation was not the having to spend the night in the frigid room
Review 41:Nice decorated, very comfortable King bed. Blowing Rock has a very nice little town Main Street shopping at restaurants. Short mountain drive to Sugar Mountain and Beech Mtn. for skiing.
Review 42:Like I mentioned before, the day we checked out the desk clerk seemed cranky but not everyone can be happy all the time I guess...
Review 43:The staff was very nice when we checked in. The out going staff during the day seemed a little cranky. But we like the place and room.
Review 44:The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We stayed in the Appalachian Suite..the natural hardwood floors and decor were beautiful. The ONLY negative that I have is the bed! Desperately needs replacing..ended up on the love seat! With that being the only negative I will definitely return, I will just check the bed first.
Review 45:Room was country cozy, great big bed and great feel. The free breakfast was great and each evening we had a wine and dine for free. We will be back !
Review 46:Abit annoyed that the fridge made a squeling noise.
Review 47:Perfect location and easily accessible, with sense of backwoods atmosphere and rustic comfort. Worth staying at for a week...We'll be back!
Review 48:Very dusty, a silverfish bug came out of the bedside tissue box with the tissue, box of baking soda on the floor behind the bed. Free breakfast was packaged foods. Coffee and hot water dispensers were either lukewarm or empty.
Review 49:Very well appointed, beautifully decorated. Huge pvt porch overlooking yard and stream.
Review 50:Nothing. It was Great. Especially the price!
Review 51:The king size bed was like a giant pillow with big soft pillows for my head. Wonderful shower with shampoos & conditioners. Loved the coffee nook in the closet!
Review 52:The only thing I would have liked to seen in the rooms was an end table on either side of the bed. We only had one end table and wished we had one by each side of the bed. Other than that, no complaints. Awesome place.
Review 53:A friend and I stayed here this past weekend and we fell in love with the place. It is a very quiet and quaint place and plan on returning soon. Also, the bed is so comfy.
Review 54:This place left the great memories and definatly we will concider to stay at village inn next time. Like the design and the spirit of the place. When you get there you can feel that someone really cares to make your stay pleasurable.
Review 55:WiFi was down during our stay. (if I weren't on break from school for the holidays this would've been a deal breaker) I do not consider breakfast to be toast and mini-muffins. It should've just said free coffee.
Review 56:Great location to shopping, snowboarding, and good food. We loved the semi-private back deck, the "screen" door option on the front, rustic decor, and the overall mountain living vibe. Parking, landscaping, and privacy were all good too.
Review 57:When we arrived for cheek in in the late afternoon, we found the reception closed with a note saying "gone for lunch. Be back at 5 PM". Indeed, we had to wait for the receptionist until 5 PM. The motel was exceptionally overpriced.
Review 58:This is a typical motel.
Review 59:Musty/old smell in the room. Bathroom needed towel racks to hang wet towels. Drunken guest in the parking lot in middle of night made for difficult sleep.
Review 60:Bedding was good quality. The dressing area was separate. The staff was very friendly. The front desk area/gathering room was comfortable.
Review 61:Great backyard and porch area. Convenient location to Blowing Rock attractions. Hardwood floors and rustic furnishings - not a typical "chain" lodging.
Review 62:That I could not stay longer!!
Review 63:Awesome all around. Lovely staff. Beautiful location. Loved the soft bed, huge flat screen tv, cute back deck overlooking stream. Wine and cheeses hour and amazing continental breakfast. So convenient to town, parks and shopping. Can't wait to go back!
Review 64:Close to roadway under construction, but once in room, didn't even hear the traffic noise.
Review 65:Very clean room, very rustic and relaxing. Not a big room, good for one or two people, but felt like home. Not that business type of feeling from other franchised type of inns. Would have loved to stay longer but will be back.
Review 66:Room based on the pictures on the website was misleading. I was told that the room I got was because I booked on Booking.com but there is no clarity on the website. Cobwebs on deck, couldn't enjoy deck. Checked out after 1 nite. Frig and mcwave in closet.Awful experience .TV on wall bad location.Could get injured.furniture torn and very badly soiled. Couldn't wait til morning so I could check out. These are my wife and myself honest opinions. Hope it helps management to look seriously at improvements.
Review 67:Bed was comfortable, shower was soothing, and the pond out front was nice.
Review 68:Continental breakfast and construction at road
Review 69:Cleanliness
Review 70:Road work 60 yards starting at 7 am, much dust
Review 71:Well run establishment, clean.
Review 72:We enjoyed our stay and probably will return
Review 73:Quaint, good location, nice staff, 6:00 drinks, safe.
Review 74:Room had nice atmosphere. There was a little creek just beyond our private deck, and the bedding was great.
Review 75:Extremely small bath and room with little space to unpack suitcases.
Review 76:Clean room and comfortable bed.
Review 77:Clerk not well trained-difficulties w/ patrons at check out. Not super friendly because she was stressed.
Review 78:Nice room and breakfast.
Review 79:Great amenities, pleasant room, Met nice people at the wine and cheese reception
Review 80:Uniqueness of the decor in our room
Review 81:Very cozy
Review 82:No A-C ,reservation problems, management difficult to work with
Review 83:Location
Review 84:Facility was very clean and we loved both the bed and the beautiful bathroom. Very nice staff.
Review 85:Internet very poor, hard to connect and very slow if connected. Breakfast was non existent, just some bread, bagels and a muffin.
Review 86:The small deck and river in back.
Review 87:nothing
Review 88:location was great.
Review 89:Close to town Very friendly young lady at check in
Review 90:This was our second time staying here and it's a great place to stay. It is close to everything which is nice.
Review 91:Prefer an office open 24 hours and much more light needed in rooms.
Review 92:The lodge area and deck
Review 93:Had a nice area to walk my dog
Review 94:Nothing
Review 95:Everything, beautiful rooms
Review 96:Close to town and ski areas. Quiet and comfortable. Great place at agreat price.
Review 97:i liked the cabin feel of the rooms.
Review 98:Bedroom furniture really old including the bed
Review 99:WHERE DID THE HOT TUBS GO???
Review 100:Quaint Clean Warm Easy to get in/out Location
Review 101:The road construction.
Review 102:Beautiful room, great porch, friendly & very nice staff. Wish we could have stayed longer.
Review 103:Room we had, smelled liked it suffered some kind of water damage at some point .
Review 104:Breakfast was not the greatest - fruit looked like it had been there for a while - other than breakfast the place was very nice
Review 105:Liked the location
Review 106:There were not many options for breakfast.
Review 107:Loved the room accommodations! It was so beautiful!
Review 108:The smell of the room was very musty.
Review 109:The view was great and it was close to everything - dining, entertainment and shopping.
Review 110:An extremely relaxing get away to wind down in the mountains.
Review 111:The complimentary breakfast was not so complimentary, they need to do better at least place a waffle maker there, because a hot breakfast in a cold area makes a difference.
Review 112:The location is convenient to everything.
Review 113:I did not expect it to be right on a major road. Expected it to be more rural. All the construction in the city was a bit disappointing...certainly not the Inn's fault.
Review 114:It was cozy and really liked the sitting room and tile. Back patio was nice. Within walking distance of old town main street.
Review 115:breakfast was a little weak.when we checked in we gave the girl are discount and was told it would be taken off,but never was issued.
Review 116:the room was very clean and coomfy.we would stay again in the future
Review 117:One staff member courteous but not very friendly. Air conditioning very drafty.
Review 118:Decorations, comfort of bed, breakfast, one very helpful staff member at front desk, shopping nearby.
Review 119:The person at the front desk on Friday and Monday was nicknamed"mean girl" When she realized we were not charged the rightamount for our pet fee she blamed it on the part time person andproceeded to bad mouth the young lady to us. The hotle was advertised asbing in the blowiing rock historic distric downtown. The hotel was notdowntown. We had to drive everywhere. Our sink stopper did not work, wehad no screen door and our air conditioning unit was held closed by twogreen band aids. We asked that these things be repaired and they wereright away but if the room was not ready for guest we should have neverbeen placed there.
Review 120:When I called on saturday to ask that some things be repaired it wastaken care of right away.
Review 121:We will never stay here again. It was damp and humid to the point wecould not sleep. The air conditioning unit was full blast but onlyserved to make the room wet cold. When I mentioned it to the front deskshe said "sorry, the building is very old." Get a dehumidifierthen!! Also the blow drier did not work in the room. And front desk hadno spare. Not impressed.
