Reviews for University Inn - Pineapple Hospitality

Review 1:Appreciated the shuttle service to downtown Seattle. We were able to explore Pike Place Market without having to deal with driving in heavy traffic and parking.

Review 2:The pillows were a little firm for my taste.

Review 3:Excellent service from front desk and maid service; comfortable bed and furnishings; spacious room; convenient location.

Review 4:breakfast is always the same and very basic

Review 5:the overall stay was good, not super, but that met my expectations, I was looking for a hotel close to where I had my business and this one provided a good value for the money. So personally I'd recommend it for business , definitely not for leisure

Review 6:The breakfast was pretty minimal for these days. It was more like when motels first started providing breakfast: toast and bagels, dry and instant hot cereal, bananas and apples. The floor squeaked in one place. Unfortunately, the place was between the bed and the TV.

Review 7:The staff was pleasant and knowledgeable, and the room was clean and well appointed.

Review 8:Location is very central but it is on the lower part of Roosevelt St that is a bit sketchy at night.

Review 9:Great staff, very flexible. Centrally located. Parking is well lit.

Review 10:The breakfast wasn't really all that special but it looked fresh.

Review 11:Loved how clean it was in our room. The staff helped us find somewhere to get dinner delivered and that was really helpful!

Review 12:Location, available parking, room with a view, best brunch ever- right under us, staff that could field urban transportation questions with precise answers and maps

Review 13:The WiFi wasn't good and the breakfast there wasn't worth it. One example, put bread in a toaster for 3 minutes and get bright white, slightly warm bread. Fortunately, there are good breakfast restaurants nearby.

Review 14:The hotel is in a convenient location and parking was easy. The staff was very friendly.

Review 15:It was not a bad experience but I did not enjoy the bedding. I'm too old for a single cover or one I have to configure over/around my body.

Review 16:The friendly staff

Review 17:Breakfast area chaotic. We were there for 3 days and each morning the coffee ran out. Breakfast served 7-10 on Sunday, eggs were gone at 9. A bit expensive.

Review 18:Good location. Easy access to buses, university and water. Staff helpful with directions.

Review 19:The wifi connection both in the room and in the lobby could be a little sketchy.

Review 20:We were greeted with the most friendly, welcoming desk staff! They were so kind and warm to us we felt right at home from the start. Our bed was very comfy and we loved our room! Things seemed new and well taken care of. We loved the free parking and continental breakfast. We got more than we expected for the money and we will be looking to book with Pineapple Hospitality again for sure!

Review 21:Definitely not a 200 dollar plus per night facility. A fresh paint job a few years back does not make an old motel worthy of high dollar status.

Review 22:Great staff. Shuttle convenient.

Review 23:Air condition unit was too loud and cannot be controlled, even when the fan speed was set to low. Duvet was too warm for the summer. There was no top (flat) sheet that we could use when we sleep at night.

Review 24:Friendly and efficient staff, location, overall cleanliness, double sinks (one in bathroom and one just outside bathroom).

Review 25:A few more seats in the lobby needed for the breakfast crowd

Review 26:Perhaps the friendliest staff I have ever encountered. Very helpful with directions, transportation and just basic out-of-Towner type questions they probably answer a million times a day. Very pleased with our stay and would pick again

Review 27:The free parking was all taken up when we returned for the night.

Review 28:I love that you can open the windows in the rooms. The pool was wonderful, although it would be nice to not have it in full view of the lobby.

Review 29:The bed duvets are too warm and odd sized. Much prefer a standard sheet and blanket layers to add or remove as needed. Wish room had more space for a couch or 2 nice sitting chairs.

Review 30:The staff was always very friendly and helpful in providing suggestions for transportation issues, local restaurants, etc. Afternoon cupcakes were a nice touch!

Review 31:No problems.

Review 32:The staff were excellent. The first room was close to the elevator and the noise was bothering us so we asked to be changed. They were able to do it, despite being totally booked.

Review 33:The hotel is very convenient for the university but the area within walking distance and particularly the cafes and restaurants are totally cheap student food orientated. To escape "student town" you have to travel some distance. The immediate surrounding area is not particularly pleasant. The hotel also messed up our booking although they rapidly sorted it out on our arrival.

Review 34:Very friendly and helpful staff.Convenient onsite parking.Easy access to main highways.Very convenient free shuttlebus service.Very good wi-fi. University Village shopping mall is good and not too far away-but not within walking distsance

Review 35:The staff was very courteous and accommodating, the facilities were in excellent condition, the location was perfect, and our family of four all enjoyed our stay!

Review 36:I didn't have a bad experience.

Review 37:I liked that the staff went above and beyond to make our experience pleasurably. They accommodated us as best they could. I will definitely choose this hotel again when I visit Seattle.

Review 38:Only issue was bathroom door would not stay closed and shower water was difficult to calibrate--very hot or too cool/ cold.

Review 39:Clean modern room style with quality amenities--very comfortable bed! Enjoyed the lovely and unique sundry fragrances--

Review 40:The only thing I kinda didn't like was that it was a tad bit pricy to stay here, but it was worth every penny.

Review 41:Wow. Where do I start? Lol a bus stop is right across the street. The desk clerks were amazing with helping me and my friend figure out bus routes and tourism spots. They even went the extra mile to printed us off travel directions to locations of interest. The beds we're amazinglyrics soft. It was like a pool of cotton and silk.

Review 42:Close to UW for granddaughter, pool for grandson, shuttle to and from monorail, walking distance to restaurants and helpful front desk people for first timers

Review 43:There are no microwaves or fridges in the rooms, which was the biggest issue I had; the parking situation is execrable. Those were the only two things that were actually wrong. It is clear the hotel was built in the 70s or the 60s and there are two elevators, which is confusing. I did not like the DTV because it took too long to change channels. The Wi-Fi did not work well with my IPad for some reason.

Review 44:The hotel was great for the most part. Comfortable and quiet, great beds and linens, very nice tub in the bathroom. Great location. Excellent staffing! Each staff member, no matter the time of day or night, was quick to offer help of any kind and they seemed to be well-versed in area amenities.

Review 45:At $200 per night, it's a little expensive. Strange that U.S.colleagues had paid significantly less. Breakfast food ok, but let downby cramped room and plastic cutlery and paper plates.

Review 46:Staff helpfulness. Complimentary drinks. Free wifi. Free bicycle hire.Free shuttle to town centre. Spacious rooms.

Review 47:We stayed at the inn for 4 nights from 29/5-2/6, and disappointed to find that the accommodation was overrated! We have travelled many countries in 4 continents and the following experience was unique to be found from this hotel: 1) At the peak hours of breakfast time, we witnessed there was insufficient seats, and guests need to grab their foods back to room or stand on foot to finish their cereals, no kidding!!! 2) We went out in the morning for seven hours, and our room was still not made up. Not to mention about 1) the so-called free parking, but in fact limited parking is available only on first come first served basis; 2) our room was much smaller than the photo shown on our booking with Booking.Com; 3) our room facing the NE 42th St. was noisy, we regret to find that the hotel promotion as shown was misleading and our stay with the hotel was an absolutely wrong decision!!! Talking about their advertised " Pineapple Hospitality", I noticed this only stay at mouth level, for instance, how come the management can tolerate their guest to use a pot (in pineapple shape ) to fill up with a cup of water with such a long time of 1.5 minutes?! It is meaningless to use apple, orange, banana ....hospitality as long as your basic execution capability is weak. My only advice to this hotel is " Back to Basics, please!" P.s. The only staff whom we met and felt truly helpful and friendly was Chris!

Review 48:minor problems: It was a kinda far from center. They could try to get info about buses and options (international visitors dont usually have data plans for mobile internet

Review 49:First and foremost the attitude. They are cheerfull people who value customers' money. They dont try to overcharge at any point. Once we missed the shuttle bus they provide (which btw is very convenient) and it was their fault. And they PAID a taxi for us. The rooms where adequate and the cleaningness great. They offer free coffee and water bottles in the room. The breakfast, although not rich was somehow a nice experience. They offer coffee and muffins until 8 or 9pm.

Review 50:Didn't like having a room right by the elevator or the fact the rooms don't have a mini fridge.

Review 51:The staff was super nice, the facility is clean, the beds were comfortable!

Review 52:Lovely polite Staff who unfortunately were totally ineffective at dealing with grumpy guest who made everyone- staff and us- miserable. He kept ringing our room when we were ASLEEP accusing us of having children running around making noise (there were 2 of us, mother and daughter aged 55 and 15,rarely in the room and then only to rest) and just as we fell asleep again front desk would wake us again by calling to say they'd had a complaint but they had listened outside our room and knew we weren't making noise.. This was invasive and made us feel very uncomfortable. The guy even complained at front desk one day while we were eating in the dining area, clearly weren't in the room, and while they pointed us out and showed that we couldn't be making noise, they didn't call him on it, didn't tell him to stop calling us and certainly didn't ask him to apologise. They appeased this grumpy guy and it never seemed to occur to them that we were guests too who deserved consideration and even protection from HIM!

Review 53:Lovely comfortable beds with sumptuous duvets and in the bathroom fluffy towels and quality toiletries

Review 54:Had a problem with toilet water running all night. I was unable to get a full nights sleep:-(

Review 55:Location near the school . Friendliness of the evening from desk staff. Beds were very comfortable.

Review 56:It's so popular that it was hard to change our reservation dates. Also the hall smelled a lot is a scented soap product and we are sensitive to scents but the room and other locations were fine.

Review 57:We love this place. The people who work here are super helpful. They have a van and are really great about helping with logistics. Wonderful location if you are visiting the university. And because the van can take you and pick you up its easy to see other parts of the city. Quiet. Super comfy beds. Yummy little cupcakes. Newspapers. Maps. Computer with printer for boarding passes etc. loaner bikes. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Review 58:Checked in to our room and the beds were made but the sheets had obviously not been changed. Hotel is looking a bit run down (especially compared to the more expensive sister hotel up the block, The Waterford Hotel).

Review 59:Location to the University of Washington is the big plus. Decent parking at the hotel (but tight, especially if you have a large car) Good internet access Helpful staff Reasonable price for Seattle

Review 60:Stayed in unrenovated wing where toilet ran continuously and furnishings were tired and old. Breakfast was weak; need some gluten free options and better fresh fruit. Wifi sometimes unstable .

Review 61:Good location near U Washington. Free parking. Free shuttle to downtown. Comfortable bed and pillows. Breakfast included.

Review 62:Floors were a bit sqeaky Some walls a bit thin (not enough to wake me up though)

Review 63:Staff were very helpful A short walk from campus and restaurants Close to some good bus routes to downtown

Review 64:Room was old Funky smells Next to elevator was loud & clunky

Review 65:The location to U of W as well as downtown. Breakfast A Portage Bay Café location nearby Shampoo & lotions available Kindness of staff

Review 66:Not a very interesting area. We needed to be near the university or would have chosen a different area. Hard to find a good restaurant, bar, etc.

Review 67:Friendly staff, free wifi, free breakfast, big beds.

Review 68:Rain?

Review 69:Room was quite, bed was comfortable.Good in room coffee/tea no charge for bottle water..Shuttle driver very friendly as well as helpful Inn staff. Thank you for a restful stay. Darrell

Review 70:pretty small room able to hear lots of noise from the neighbors

Review 71:Able to check in early without any issues Very friendly and helpful staff Very close to the university Complementary shuttle Good continental breakfast Clean and comfortable

Review 72:The room was very small and lacked amenities. The hotel is very old and not well looked after. A single elevator makes it difficult to access with any degree of ease. The breakfast is overly simple but the coffee is good - one point for them.

Review 73:Room was kind of small Toilet was incredibly loud Could hear nieghbors water also

Review 74:Clean, friendly, + good breakfast. Good location for campus visit.

Review 75:The University Inn provides free shuttle to downtown Seattle, free overnight parking, free wi-fi, and a great breakfast! Wonderful place to stay! We will be back.

Review 76:There are no restaurants really close by, and the neighborhood at night is in my opinion not a safe place to walk, especially if you are a female walking alone.

Review 77:The staff are very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very good. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

Review 78:Broken sofa bed which was quickly replaced with a cot.

Review 79:Clean, comfortable and good value. Pet friendly. Minimalist continental breakfast but it hits the spot.

Review 80:Washing of towels every day despite following the environment policy of not putting towels out for changing. Wifi very slow in bedroom, had to go to lobby.

Review 81:Helpful staff, good coffee machine, very clean, safe location.

Review 82:Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Use the free shuttle service to either Westlake Center or the EMP, it's the easiest way to get downtown ... and they pick you up again later. Thumbs Up!!

Review 83:For both nights of my stay, I was constantly awakened by loud banging, slamming doors and walking. As a Type II diabetic, I was dismayed to see so much refined flour products for breakfast...nothing whole grain and low on sugar.

Review 84:The beds and pillows were fairly comfortable and I appreciated the cleanliness. The location near the University of Washington cannot be beat.

Review 85:After arriving, the University Inn unfortunately informed me that infants were not allowed on there shuttle service. As a family traveling with a baby I was counting on the University Inn's shuttle service to take us to many of Seattle's sites. I was informed by the front desk attendant that no shuttles can accept infant passengers, which certainly sounded odd to me since the first hotel we had stayed at in Seattle had gladly done so. Unfortunately, this inconvenience cost my family numerous additional transportation costs.

Review 86:There wasn't anything I didn't like, everything was great!

Review 87:A quick weekend trip to Seattle didn't cost us an arm and a leg to stay in a beautiful hotel, at a truly awesome location! There are so many wonderful things about this hotel, where do i begin! The location is right by UW, tucked into a neighborhood that while by the school, isn't too crazy of a spot. They had a lovely continental breakfast that I had early morning, and then a free bike to cruise around all day! Rode the bike to Greenlake, a mere two miles away, and walked around the lake enjoying the quiet. Had the bike the whole day, cruising around down funky 45th Street, and upon returning to the hotel, caught a complimentary shuttle downtown to Pike's! There are even little cupcakes and lemonade in the evening as a nightcap! The amenities are splendid, the staff so wonderfully helpful, the location perfect, and the price- well that really was just a little cherry on top! Would highly recommend staying here, I know I certainly will be my next trip to Seattle!

Review 88:This is not the fault of the hotel, but staying in a city is quite loud!

Review 89:This property is very close to the University of Washington, and that is where I needed to go for a meeting. The staff were excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful.

Review 90:free bus service unavailable for our needs..Hours started 7am..needed too be @ hospital @ 7..Breakfast fair...Slght confusion regarding reservations thru booking . com.. But corrected by staff with additional fee..Great place too stay!!

Review 91:Staff extremely educated regarding area...Dining safe walking distance..If needed offered free bus service..Room's very clean quite ..Good parking.

Review 92:1. By 9am the continental breakfast was already empty. 2. Our room was located directly next to the large dumpster. During the night I was kept awake by the sounds of rats nibbling on the garbage while perched on my balcony. Once the sun rose I was kept awake by the staff opening and closing the dumpster every 15 minutes. 3. The internet couldn't load directions to the closest restaurant serving breakfast.

Review 93:Large room, decent price for the location.

Review 94:The area wasn't too good. Not too good to walk through the streets.

Review 95:The breakfast was very good. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was very helpful.

Review 96:Need more information written down as to what is available around hotel along with hours. Listing of major of current events would helpful to have. If stamps were available it would good to from the desk.

Review 97:Proximity to the U-Dub, walking distance to many important buildings for school. The shuttle service was a huge plus to my Seattle experience. Also, having laundry services available was great. Above all, the staff were very helpful, courteous, understanding, excited for my adventures while being there and prompt to my needs daily.

Review 98:the location, there were no places to eat close by and did not feel safe walking to get to where they were located. only places to eat were bars, and other undesirable looking spots, not to mention the strange people on the streets, talking to themselves or they looked like they were strung out on drugs.

Review 99:the bed was comfortable, room was clean, very good choice of breakfast items.

Review 100:The University Inn was comfortable and ideally located in the University district near restaurants, shopping, and of course, the University. The staff was helpful and the accommodations comfortable and clean. We have stayed here before and will stay here again when we visit Seattle.

Review 101:- noisy toilet and visitors - the carpet (in the hallway) smells - no variaton in breakfast + plastic cuttlery (common in US/Canada but weird for European guests) - balance price-quality not ok

Review 102:- good bed - large room - good tv - friendly staff - comfortable parking

Review 103:There were no eggs for breakfast on one of the mornings.

Review 104:The room was very quiet and the staff at the front desk were very friendly. The decor was really nice. The heated pool was a treat!

Review 105:Perhaps more fruit at breakfast? But that seems like a small detail.

Review 106:Very clean and convenient to UW. The shuttle made it a convenient place for visiting dt Seattle as well. Staff were very helpful about directions to sites and restaurants. We enjoyed our stay tremendously!

Review 107:The front desk staff are the nicest, most gracious I've encountered anywhere in the country. I can't say enough good about them. They bent over backwards to help us with our every need. They go way above and beyond. I say this from many years of business traveling as well a vacations.

Review 108:- Parking was crammed, extremely tight; my brand new SUV was damaged - the lobby and hallways could use a fresh coat of paint - the flooring could be updated

Review 109:- Free shuttle to downtown Seattle (drop off and pick up) - Pineapple cupcake treats - Complimentary bikes - Free laundry facility - 10 mins from University Village Shopping Center

Review 110:could put partial covering on hallway windows to keep it cooler w/o turning on air conditioner there

Review 111:extra sink outside bathroom room size was comfortable no charge for parking complimentary breakfast free bike use shuttle bus

Review 112:Hard beds Dirty mattress Not close enough for amenities Lugging luggage from check in to other parts of campus Starkness of room - unwelcoming!

Review 113:Easy travel to Airshow Kelly's Bar Clean Shower Food ok for price Good internet facilities but not if raining as it would mean going a distance for useage.

Review 114:We loved the hotel. The staff went above and beyond what was required. We stored some flowers with them while we toured the city the day of our checkout. They went out of their way to make sure our flowers survived until our flight. Excellent service!

Review 115:The room was okay but for the money I paid for that room I could've stayed at a motel 6. Staff was nice but the pictures don't represent the facilities. The room looked outdated not retro new furniture. I prefer the Hyatt Olive 8 but it was booked up.

Review 116:Staff was nice but the pictures don't represent the facilities. $500 for 2 nights was crazy. I expected a better place.

Review 117:The room I stayed in was in the back and smelled like it hasn't been aired out in ages. I wanted to open the door to the back patio, but it was locked. The staff told me that the patio was under renovation, so door can't be open. There was A/C, but it was loud.

Review 118:Location was good. Next to Portage Bay Cafe, a great brunch place. During a previous visit, I stayed in another suite, which was fresher/cleaner.

Review 119:We felt unsafe walking to a restaurant 4 blocks away at night. Strange people in alley's and Homeless sleeping on porches and we were not the only one's who stayed at the hotel and noticed the same issue. Very uncomfortable and unsafe...

Review 120:We liked the University Inn staff and service.

Review 121:Disappointed that the maid didn't make up our room! When I asked at the front desk why not, their response was housekeeping said your do not disturb sign was on the door...huh? No it wasn't it was on the desk in the room! We did not place it on the door ! I wasn't happy for 530.00 for a 2 night stay I expected more all I got was a 25.00 card like everyone else that stays there to return again! I was not happy there is nothing worse than coming back from a long day of sightseeing seeing a unmade room at 10 pm! Big disappointment you should have refunded me 1 nights stay! That would have been great customer service since it was your mistake!

Review 122:Free shuttle

Review 123:The only day of my stay I removed the "do not disturb" sign to cue service, and vacated 8am-2pm, the room had not been cleaned. Slight inconvenience.

Review 124:The front desk staff were professional, considerate and accommodating (particularly Kat and Kaden). The room was perfect for a solo traveler, and even though it looked out over Roosevelt and 42nd, it was remarkably quiet. Great bed, shower, bathroom, TV and closet (with umbrella for use). The pool had a lap-sized lane. The breakfast offered a wide choice of carbs and protein and seating, with a generous window of 7am-10am. The free hotel shuttle was convenient for a spontaneous trip to Seattle Center and Pike Place Market, and when it was not available for pickup, the concierge telephonically guided me to a fast metro alternative. Best of all, the hotel was walking distance to UW and a cornucopia of University Avenue dining and browsing opportunities. I had an early checkin, bag storage at checkout, and easy access to a (private) airport shuttle. Pineapple Hospitality is the real deal. Highly recommend.

Review 125:The parking lot situation is not good. They share with an a joining business. One can park on the side street (space available) or at their sister hotel a block away.

Review 126:Because my husband couldn't lift anything do to an operation the staff quickly offered their help. They also upgraded our room and allowed us to stay a bit longer after normal checkout time.

Review 127:Nothing. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 128:Staff were really helpful & friendly. A list of local restaurants, cafes, shops was provided on arrival & I thought that was thoughtful. The room was nice, big & really clean. We really appreciated the bottles of water & coffee in the room. I really liked the location, it was close to cafes, restaurants, shops with easy access to transport to the city centre.

Review 129:As mentioned, we had initial reservation issues that resulted from a lapse of communication between booking.com and University Inn, however, the staff at the hotel was able to resolve the problem.

Review 130:The hotel staff was amazing. Upon checking in, there was a problem with our reservation but the manager on duty was able to rectify the situation to beyond our satisfaction. The most helpful members of the staff included the female manager that checked us in (I unfortunately did not get her name), front desk attendant Fantasia (highly knowledgeable of the local area and activities), and manager Brice (very attentive and helpful). Our stay was as wonderful as the retro room decor and the location is couldn't have been better. We were literally within walking distance from the University of Washington as well as a short bike ride from the waterways. The free local shuttle service provided access to many other activities and local attractions. This is a quality hotel at a low price. This is what you call getting "more bang for your buck!". I wouldn't have found this treasure without booking.com - Booking Yeah!! We will definitely stay here again as well as recommend the Pineapple Hospitality chain and Booking.com to our friends and family. **Note - I read several reviews regarding street noise on the front side of the building. I stayed in a pet-friendly room which appears to be located in an older section of the hotel (from the outside, the two wings appear to have been built at separate points in time). We were on the backside of the property and I can tell you that other than an ambulance, we heard no other street noise. And to add, they treated my dog like a prince. He was provided a hotel feeding dish bearing the hotel logo, dog treats, a large dog bed, and pet waste baggies all at no extra cost. This is a great Hotel!

Review 131:I really liked the atmosphere at University Inn. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. The bed was super comfy, and the larger bath tub/shower area was nice. The breakfast was perfect - nice options.

Review 132:Friendly staff, very clean, nice spacious room, good breakfast.

Review 133:Location and Staff.

Review 134:Everything perfect!
