Reviews for Breckinridge Inn

Review 1:The people at the front desk had the personality of a cinder block, both the person we checked in and checked out with...They don't have to act like they are my best friend, but at least they could have acted like they were glad we were there, let us know about breakfast, pool, etc. The rooms feel old. If the staff had been a little more pleasant, it would have made up for a lot of the other stuff. The furniture is outdated, etc. Our room definitely did not look like the room on the website. Also, we were put right across from the vending machine/ice machine, etc, which gets a lot of traffic. The hotel was not very full, so putting us there seemed to be purposeful...but I have come to learn that when you book thru a 3rd party and get a discounted rate,...you don't get the best room.

Review 2:Breckenridge is not a "chain hotel", so it has some personality, which I think is a plus and why I selected it. The pool is huge and it has a restaurant/club, which obviously not alot of hotels have. The breakfast was fairly good. Overall it is fairly well kept up.

Review 3:Centrally located but on quiet street. Close to shopping, restaurants and activities. Older hotel but nicely decorated and very clean. Loved the fitness center with pool and hot tub.

Review 4:One tall older man at the front desk doesnt like his job and said he wishes his job could be replaced by a computer so he wouldn't have to put up complaining and whining guests. He asked if we would like him to dance like a monkey and began to dance. He wasn't angry at us since we had only wished him a good day.....then came his bitter response. What an unhappy man. He said much more along the same lines.

Review 5:Clean.

Review 6:Heavy carpet cleaner smell in 2 guest rooms 128 and 133.

Review 7:Great location, reasonable price and exceptional cleanliness at an older but maintained spacious property.

Review 8:The air conditioner was on when we entered in the room. The system stays on all the time.

Review 9:The beds are very comfortable. I laid down to watch some TV, I was out in no time at all. The room was clean and neat. The price was good. My husband and I have stayed here before. This is our 3rd time.

Review 10:Great value for price. Older; I'm sure it was a resort in its day but very clean and staff friendly and accommodating. Great East End location just off I265 and extremely quiet.

Review 11:Facility is old . Chair was ripped rooms need up dating.,Facility could be redecorated to update the look and feel. It would add to the appeal of the property.

Review 12:Easy access to travel routes .

Review 13:I was so disappointed in the cleaniness and comfort of our rooms. The bathrooms looked as if they had not been cleaned in a very long time. It was impossible to regulate the rooms' temperatures. I was also concerned about all the activity around the hotel parking lots. There were lots of people from the night club that were not staying in the hotel walking around the lobby and parking lots. Would not recommend or stay here again. Very disappointed.

Review 14:The beds were a little to firm

Review 15:The rooms were clean, the staff, everyone from check in to the cleaning staff were great. The location was perfect and best of all they allow pets. This was a huge plus for us.

Review 16:Staff was friendly and happy to assist with any needs. Beds were comfortable and rooms clean and updated. Facility was exceptional for the price we paid. Definitely a great value. Location was great also. Right off the highway and close to many restaurants. I'd recommend them to others.

Review 17:Beyond lack of acknowledgement by the night staff, my bathroom was gross and a 2 day reservation turned into overnight. The smell was moldy and there was no feeling of security.

Review 18:Wifi is terrible. I hate to say that, but it is not good at all. Hopefully you won't have loud neighbors like we did, thin walls,

Review 19:Room was very nice. Easy to get to in a good part of town. It's an older hotel, but they have maintained it very well. Pool area nice, great little nightclub right inside main building. Good breakfast and goes till 10 am. For the price, it's hard to beat.

Review 20:We were disappointed that there wasn't a microwave and minifridge in the room. That may prevent us from staying again unfortunately.

Review 21:Great location! It was right in the center of places we needed to visit, and right off of the expressway, close to restaraunts and shopping!

Review 22:The only thing I was unhappy about was where the smoking areas are located. Having them right outside of the doors is not a good thing for people like myself with asthma & walking right into the smoke. Makes it very hard to breathe.

Review 23:We loved the hotel itself & the room was very large compared to some we've been in. Husband also loved the heated indoor pool.

Review 24:There was a night club there and we could hear the music playing loudly in our room, we had to ask for another room further away. So we had to move, that was a bother. Also, our room was never clean properly. The first day, not at all, the second day we saw the cleaning lady in the hallway and asked that our room be cleaned, she said ok, we came back and all she did was make the beds, the floors were still dirty. It's definitely an older building in need of remodeling.

Review 25:Location was good. It was somewhat clean.

Review 26:The ice machines were all broke and my daughter requires ice for a chronic health condition so I had to go to Krogers.

Review 27:We stay here every time we go down to Louisville. We simply wont even entertain the thought of staying elsewhere. It has a southern, plantation feeling and the grounds are lovely.

Review 28:Noisy - night club in the basement, unfriendly personnel, bad beds, broken windows frames, bad breakfast, bad smell everywhere (kitchen, tobacco, trash, etc)

Review 29:Very old building, good location, good water pressure and water temperature in bathroom, roomy parking

Review 30:Worst beds with springs practically sticking out of mattress; shower did not drain, blow dryer was pitiful with no power, no yogurt or fruit available for continental breakfast,

Review 31:location

Review 32:Only one elevator and my room was very far away. The beds need to be updated The house cleaning was very slow. They don't have any one to help you with your luggage.

Review 33:The rooms were large and clean.

Review 34:Hot tub was not accessible due to the holiday but we were not informed ahead of time, main reason for selecting inn and couldn't use it. Understand holiday issue but was not informed.

Review 35:Price

Review 36:Although the Breckinridge Inn is old it is well kept. I found our rooms to be very clean and comfortable. It isn't the Ritz but for $62 a night I certainly didn't expect that at all. The breakfast buffet was adequate. I'd stay here again.

Review 37:The room had a connecting door and you could easily hear the other guests, best to get a room without a connecting door. Opposite side had a large dog that barked often.

Review 38:the price is right for a simple clean hotel

Review 39:We staid in a double room, my husband, daughter, and myself slept wonderfully in the beds, there was so much space in the room and the bathroom was a great size. Everything was clean and I really liked the save the world notes. There were little notes with the towels and beds that allowed you to let the housekeepers know that you didn't need them to switch the sheets or towels every day of your stay, so you can help conserve resources. We had the continental breakfast one morning and it was wonderful. There were plenty of choices including sausage gravy and biscuits, boiled eggs, muffins, bread to make toast with butter and jelly, three types of cereal, and milk apple juice orange juice and coffee to drink. They are located just a few miles from the zoo and plenty of shopping! The best hotel experience i've had for that low of a price! I will definitely stay there again and will recommend it to anyone going through Louisville. They also have pools, exercise equipment, and entertainment that we didn't use during this stay but we did see those things and they also looked like a great time!

Review 40:Wish the breakfast had a couple more choices, maybe scrambled eggs instead of always hard boiled? Some kind of breakfast meat would be wonderful; bacon or sausage?

Review 41:Loved that they allow pets! Quiet rooms, nice facilities.

Review 42:Leak in hallway. Would have liked fruit and scrambled eggs with the breakfast. Never gave us enough towels.

Review 43:this was comfortable. pool was nice. Quiet away from airport.

Review 44:The Breckinridge Inn is conveniently located to the Expo Center and airport. The Inn has all the basics for a comfortable stay. It is an older building, however the rooms are updated, it is quiet, and breakfast is included.

Review 45:We were very disappointed to find our room not available when we arrived late from a flight. The clerk said he ran our credit card and it didn't clear so he gave our room away. We had booked well in advance and I even called hotel to confirm. I was very surprised they didn't call me for a card update. We ended up having to find a hotel and then come back the next day.

Review 46:The old fashioned charm and having use of their health spa.

Review 47:Wish there was an easier way to get to our room... We didn't see any elevators and with all the bags we had it would have been nice not to have to lug everything up the stairs

Review 48:The room was nice and clean... The beds were so comfy!!!! Easy to get to our room and we parked right near the door... enough parking for everyone

Review 49:The room had a deodorizing smell that was too strong. but I got used to it. Also, I could not get my card key to work in the hot tub area.

Review 50:The location, the price, the convenience and the free coffee!

Review 51:Breakfast needs fresh fruit and more protein items. Biscuits were hard as a brick. Beds not the most comfortable. Bathroom dirty and tub did not drain well.

Review 52:Pool and hot tub was nice. Location good.

Review 53:Decor a little outdated but it was clean.

Review 54:Comfortable bed and pillows. Nice big overstuffed chair in room and another chair at desk in room. Continental breakfast had pretty good variety.

Review 55:The property is old and dated. The mattress was poor and you could feel and hear the springs. We woke up with a backache every morning. There was dried blood on the shower curtain but to the credit of the man at the desk...he went to the laundry and got us a clean one. The breakfast was terrible.

Review 56:We were attending an event at the Expo Center. The location was good because we had a rental car. The staff was pleasant.

Review 57:New mattress's. The bed was awful, my wife's and my back hurt the whole 3 nights we stayed. Room requested was not what we got. Was told it is what it is.

Review 58:The pool and hot tub was nice.

Review 59:Sink had a bad odor, staff covered up with deodorizer. Water damage on wall, wall paper coming up next to tub. Kept hearing water running, night & day.

Review 60:Good value for the money.

Review 61:There was only one elevator in the whole building - and it was very small. Then once we got to the second floor we had to walk up and down steps to get to our room on the second floor! VERY STRANGE configuation of the building.

Review 62:Room was very nice. More than adequate especially for the price! I liked the soap dish and grab bar in the bathroom. All bathrooms should be required to have these.

Review 63:There was nothing I didn't like other than not enough hangers.

Review 64:Everybody and everything was great. It's so quiet you don't know there is anyone next door.

Review 65:Breakfast was a little lacking, would have like to see some fruit and yogurt options.

Review 66:a very clean facility, friendly staff, great pool, quiet, pleasant area.

Review 67:Would have liked a little more variety for breakfast. Our room did not have a remote for the TV. Staff brought one up within 20 minutes.

Review 68:Clean, convenient to !-264, area seemed safe.

Review 69:The bed was kinda hard and the pillows were tiny.

Review 70:The location was right near everything. The room was large and well worth the money. The pool and spa were great. And the free breakfast was great.

Review 71:I thought when we got there that the carpet in front of the bathroom seems damp, but what ever we were only staying for the night... at like 4am I woke up because I heard water.... our bathroom sick was overflowing and water was all over. They sent a maintance man to clean it up, but they had obviously had problems with it and shouldn't have rented the room.

Review 72:We only stayed one night, it was easy to find and comfortable enough

Review 73:I wish my 12 year old and 3 year old grandson could have gotten in the hot tub.

Review 74:Liked the smell of the place, the continental breakfast was great. The sausage and biscuits was a big hit for us. The fish tank was excellent for my 3 yr. old grandson.

Review 75:First room we was given was either occupied or had not been cleaned. Hotel is too spread out - long walk to get where your going. Not the quality I would have liked to seen.

Review 76:The bathrooms are too small, no exhaust fan so, the mirror gets fogged up. No mini refrigerator in the room, this would be so convenient. But, does have vending machines down the hall, so that does help.

Review 77:We went to the Louder Than Life Festival, and the location was really convenient traveling to and from the festival. The place was overall, pretty good.

Review 78:This is an older, established hotel located right off of I-264. It isclose to many restaurants, provides easy access to St. Matthews and isabout 15 minutes from downtown Louisville. The building and grounds are well-kept, and the front-desk staff was friendly and efficient. There is also ample, free parking. Jerry Green's and Friends, an adult-oriented nightclub with live music, is on the grounds. We were on the opposite end of the building, but when we drove past the club entrance at night, there was no noise. We had a king room, however, it did not come with a fridge or microwave. I believe you have to rent them. Overall, a pleasant place to stay. I'm a Louisville native, and if I were visiting home and unable to stay with family, I would stay here again.

Review 79:The outdoor pool might have remained open another week. It was still plenty warm outside.

Review 80:I liked the positive atmosphere created by the staff. My room was comfortable and well kept.

Review 81:Windows can't be opened and the room smelled of some perfumed cleaning agent.

Review 82:Good location--not far from Bardstown Rd. and downtown Louisville--and well priced (with breakfast). Decent room, pool, and hot tub.

Review 83:We were on the 2nd floor. Even though there was an elevator, we had to use multiple steps to get to our room & back out. There was no way to get bags to our room without lifting & carrying ip & down steps.

Review 84:The staff were very friendly.

Review 85:No elevators and lots of stairs if you are in a back room. Air had no auto so had to turn off and on all night long as it was too noisy to leave on all the time.Furniture really beat up. Didn't refill the Kleenex box so used up all the toilet paper.

Review 86:Location was great. Room clean and staff friendly.Standard free breakfast with usual fair.

Review 87:Our room and the hotel was full of mold, they tried to disguise it byusing a ton of air freshener but once that wore off the smell of moldwas very overwhelming. Did not sleep at all the last night. I am veryallergic to mold.

Review 88:The convenience of the location was great, close to many restaurantsand stores.

Review 89:when we walked in the room there was a VERY strong smell of something that tried to make the room smell better. It gave my wife a headache due to being so strong. We stayed there for 2 days we did not want the room cleaned just towels. On the second day we realized why they sprayed what ever it was they sprayed. a strong pee smell was in that room. The room key took several times to work even after having them changed twice. this happened the whole time we were there. the front desk just kept asking if we had it near our cell phone. no we did not.The outside door never work for one of the keys but did with the other key after trying several times. The hall where we were was not clean at all. 1 out of 10 i will give this hotel a 4. We stay at a lot of hotels as we travel a lot. The city was WONDERFUL and we will return but will have to think about it if we will stay at this hotel or not. shame to because this was so close to everything we wanted to do.. Maybe another floor might be better. If there is one that you keep animals off of.

Review 90:It was close to everything we need and wanted to do. Room was OK. it was clean but had a few issues. Bed was nice and shower was great. lots of room

Review 91:Carpet was old and smelled. Windows had peeling paint and broken latches. Wall paper was circa 1960 and peeling around windows.

Review 92:Location. Easy to get to from Interstate Hwy.

Review 93:some upgrade needed. could still tell it had been smoked in. window needed paint ice machine and snacks hard to find and I gave up trying to find them.

Review 94:Very happy with everything!!! Clean pool area, nice clean working hot tub and steam room! Nice breakfast with a clean area as well. Pool was staffed. Will reurn.

Review 95:A cleaning person was a little to heavy with the air freshener and we needed a different room. Which they did gladly and without question.

Review 96:The staff was friendly and accommodating when we had a room issue

Review 97:The bathroom needed to be updated. We could hear the television loudly through the adjoining door with our neighbor and they had it on all night long. Additionally, they were smoking in a non-smoking room so we could smell it strongly on the other side of the door. One evening we got back and our door was propped open. It seems like housekeeping forgot that they were going to come back with fresh towels. When we called the front desk, they seemed unfazed and just said they would look into it. I personally found the whole situation to be highly alarming and way sketchy!!!

Review 98:Great location, decent wifi, and the room was spacious.

Review 99:It wouldve been nice if all rooms had microwaves and mini fidge

Review 100:The staff was very nice and friendly. The location was convenient, right off the highway and didn't have no problem with hearing the highway traffic.

Review 101:Not safe. They put me way in the back. Dark and creepy and the outside door lock was broken. Door wouldn't open one night and rest of my stay it was propped open. Grundy, old furniture and the WORST mattress I have ever slept on. I saw a cockroach in the bathroom one night.

Review 102:Right off Expressway. Good Location. They gave me a small refrigerator

Review 103:Nothing

Review 104:We wanted a Classic Motel and this was that and more.Southern hospitality at its best. The room overlooked the pool and beyond and was so quiet inside you could hear a pin drop even when the pool area was full. We would recommend this characteristic Motel to everyone.

Review 105:The second floor is a nightmare! We did not know that when you get off the elevator you have to take your rack with suitcases DOWN 4 steps and then DOWN another 4 steps! Never again! We had to take them off and go back and forth. You should be warned in advance!

Review 106:Location was ideal.

Review 107:The beds where very uncomfortable the fist night we stayed it was like sleeping on springs I. Complained when we checked out front desk said they would let someone know then we stayed there on the way back home and it was a little better everything else was. Goodl

Review 108:Room was not cleaned the first night. The second night it appeared clean, but after more observation, sheets were not changed an and there were clean towels but no wash cloths left. Was there breakfast? When checking in I was told, "there is no food here."

Review 109:Location for my purpose was great.

Review 110:Nothing to complain about. Just wasn't at the hotel long enough to give it a 10. Location was good for us as we were out site seeing. Easy access to interstates which was important to us.

Review 111:Comfortable room, good location. That's all we looked for. Didn't spend much time in the room but overall, I liked it and would stay again.

Review 112:Breakfast could be a bit more imaginative.

Review 113:Quiet,nice location, reasonable access. Lots of parking. Although showing age, rooms and surroundings were clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay there again. Recommended!

Review 114:when I tried to check in the clerk would not allow me to use the on line price on booking.com. I had to go to my vehicle and use my cell phone to get the room. I requested a first floor room and on line and the clerk put us in a 2nd floor. When I went to check out, computers were down. It looked like no one had cleaned behind the dresser in a long time. We did not see a maid until around 5P, but she was more than happy to get us fresh towels. She had to go somewhere to get them, but she brought them back. the indoor pool was out of order.

Review 115:The breakfast was good.

Review 116:The building lacks elevators. The first room we got had a strong odor of mildew.

Review 117:The pool is OK, we didn't have time to use it but have both indoor and outdoor which is nice for year round.

Review 118:The continental breakfast left much to be desired. While it had biscuits and gravy some protein would have been really nice.

Review 119:The venue was very nice and good value.

Review 120:I think they sprayed something on the comforter. It was very powdery and I have asthma. So it kind of effected me a little. My husband had no problems. Something small but had to mention it for fellow asthmatics.

Review 121:Inside and outside pools. Close to highway. They had a bar in the basement which was pretty cool. We didn't have to drive to a bar to have a few drinks at the end of the night. They had karaoke the night we stayed and some of the locals showed up. They were really good!

Review 122:The breakfast was provided but not a lot to choose from.

Review 123:Upgraded us to a suite for free without asking for it. Great room, and clean. We will definitely be back.

Review 124:Room was not as pictured or described, was old and dirty, shower faucet leaked.Wifes sheets were stained, beds were uncomfortable, mattresses old .Breakfast was extremely disappointing only protein was sausage gravy.Rest of breakfast was mainly carbohydrates and sugars.

Review 125:Had easy access to expressways, check in was hassle free.Wi fi was easily accessed.

Review 126:Dusty rooms, everything is old and needs updating. There was rust around bathroom, not taken care of. Overall cleanliness, horrible. I would have been more comfortable and clean at a motel 6.

Review 127:Location

Review 128:Our room was in need of a better cleaning. Clothes from a previous guest was in the drawers. There was trash behind the recliner that was not cleaned up the whole 5 days of our stay and the base of the toilet needed clean the bathroom smelled.

Review 129:The motel staff at the front desk very friendly and helpful.

Review 130:Our room carpet was wet and had a strong smell of ammonia. The thermostat was outdated and didn't allow temperature adjustment well. The continental breakfast had minimal choices in comparison to other places we have stayed at in the price range. There were no fruit, waffles, yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, etc.

Review 131:There were indoor and outdoor pools which well-kept with life guards who were very vigilant.

Review 132:The iron was leaking and my clothes were spotted and wet for my meetings. In addition the beds were terribly lumpy and uncomfortable

Review 133:The rooms were clean

Review 134:Pool staff closed the outside pool 30 min early and inside pool 10 min early. When you only stay 2 nights, it infringes on your time. This was brought up to them and they just ignored us and put in the pool vacuum. It was brought to front desk's attention and they were addressing it. However, by the time it was addressed pool time was long over. It was a little frustrating. Also, breakfast staff our first morning was rude and abrupt. We were finished eating. Another family with small children sat down and were eating. Right at 10am the lights were turned off until the family said something to the staff. Why would the staff do this? We were done so we left. Staff could have put all food away and cleaned up what they could have rt at 10am but to turn off the lights on that family didn't make sense to me. I do have to say that our second morning breakfast staff was very nice, helpful and courteous. Definitely not the same person as the first night.

Review 135:Staff at the front desk was courteous and helpful. Pool and fitness center are nice.

Review 136:Although I loved the pools it's not idea for small children who can't swim. The pool starts out at 3ft deep! The breakfast was pretty plain no choice of meat other than sausage gravy.

Review 137:I loved the pools, they have an indoor pool as well as an outdoor both have lifeguards on duty. The rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The location was convenient to gas stations, restaurants etc. The hotel itself was nice and very clean and up to date. Would definitely recommend.
