Reviews for Loews Chicago Hotel
Review 1:A couple of people from the the staff wasn't as friendly as the rest, but they were never rude or anything and didn't change our good time there. They simply didn't greet us at the door like the rest. Our room's view was average cause it was to near Sheraton hotel and a little bit of the river, but the quietness and privacy of our room made up for the view. Our room climate controller was a bit noisy at night, but nothing to lose sleep over that.
Review 2:We've stayed twice at Boston Loews, so we decided to try Loews hotel in Chicago and it exceeded our expectations and satisfaction. Most of the staff is very helpful and friendly. The guy who brought our bags to the room was the most friendly and helpful of them all. We asked for a room with no interconnecting doors and that's what we got, so our room was very quiet and private. It was very clean and beds are super comfortable. Window blinds make the room totally dark even during the day so it's great for people who are light sleepers. Room was kept clean and neat and housekeeping was great and friendly too. Hotel location is in Chicago's downtown so it's close to Millenium Park, many restaurants and shopping places so location is great for people visiting Chicago for the first time like in our case. Definitely loved our stay at this hotel, we weren't disappointed and it made our trip even more enjoyable and worth remembering and definitely we're coming back! Definitely recommended as a great place to stay in Chicago. Thank you to Loews Chicago Hotel and staff for making our first trip to Chicago an unforgettable and beautiful experience.
Review 3:this is second loews I've stayed at ,south beach Miami and here in Chicago super nice super clean and the staff treated this hillbilly like royalty. the staff both places are great. on a scale of 10 it deserves 11
Review 4:Bar staff bit cool. Shower only - not unusual these days
Review 5:Large corner room comfortable and clean. Plenty of charging points. Reception staff friendly and helpful
Review 6:Check in was a bit rude and short. Lobby and hotel, in general, seems to lack a bit of character. Bar is only open after 3pm.
Review 7:Very modern and clean and user-friendly rooms. Excellent location with great views.
Review 8:Cannot even come up with a negative about the hotel.I wish I would have asked for a room with a view of the city. However, we had a decent view.
Review 9:Convenient to popular places and shopping. BM
Review 10:N/A
Review 11:I loved everything about the hotel! From the decorations in the lobby to the fast elevators to room service to my room and the amazing bed! It was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! This hotel is the true definition of a VACATION!
Review 12:Breakfast not part of the deal and a bit pricey in the coffee shop.
Review 13:Fantastic Location, clean rooms, lovely lobby and warm environment. Shopping areas within walking distance.Very helpful staff.
Review 14:The King room does not have the option for a bathtub as listed, but it was not a real problem. The shower was beautiful.
Review 15:The room was very comfortable. The staff very helpful. Facilities modern and clean.Location excellent
Review 16:I booked the Hotel for the view. And I even paid extra for an advertised "view". Be advised that the Hotel only operates on the lower floors of the buildings and the pictures on booking.com and on Loews websites are photoshopped. Those views do not exist. I got a room on the 5 floor. Since I picked this Hotel for a view (and paid for it) I asked for a higher level. The reception was extremely rude. I never had such a bad experience in a Hotel in this price category. I asked to cancel my reservation but the Hotel denied and the manager refused to talk to me. I also disliked the perfumed smell in most of the hotel. Free wifi was poor and location not very charming. There are much better Hotels in Chicago.
Review 17:The price of the hotel was a little outrageous and they even had to "hold" my debit card which they charged 450$ too when I paid in cash 340$ so I overall I had a one night stay in a hotel for almost 800$. They should've explained better what the hold actually did rather than charging me twice.
Review 18:The view was absolutely beautiful and I loved the glass doors leading into the shower!
Review 19:I check out at 9:00 am and before 2 days of my normal leaving the hotel. They requested from me to pay one more day. This is not acceptable.
Review 20:Excellent Hotel: very Clean, good services, and located in very good location near Michigan Avenue where you can find a lot of class shops and a good restaurents and attractions
Review 21:I wasn't told about the $100 per day incidental fee that was added but never mentioned to me at check in, it was only when I noticed it on my online banking that I knew and then I asked why the amount was so much higher than my actual room rate that I was informed of it. Also I didn't like that my debit card was tied up for so many days with that amount rather than the amount I was actually going to be charged. And then the amount is charged at check out but the original hold amount stayed for a few days until it fell off.
Review 22:I loved the bedding and bathroom and it had plenty of towels and larger than normal size.
Review 23:Everything was excellent...there was nothing we were unhappy with.
Review 24:Large rooms, very friendly and helpful staff, great location...walking distance from everything we wanted to do in Chicago!
Review 25:The room was modern, very comfortable and well appointed. The staff was friendly and accomodating. Johnny at the front door went out of his way to be helplful
Review 26:the staff were all friendly and helpful. location was a couple blocks from Michigan Ave but walkable in nice weather. great restaurant's around. I would stay again. really nice view from 11th floor.
Review 27:Wonderful staff, great service - everybody was very welcoming and helpful. Requests were handled promptly and some very good advice/suggestions offered. Short walking distance to Michigan Avenue.
Review 28:The open plan reception was nice and friendly but more comfortable seating would be a big bonus. I found the chairs overly large and uncomfortable, and also a bit rickety.
Review 29:Our room was on a corner with fabulous views and all the amenities were top of the range. I thought the bed was the most comfortable and luxurious I have ever slept in.
Review 30:It was very difficult accessing the train system. Although, later in the trip, I was informed I could take a cab for around $7 to the closest station.
Review 31:The comfort, the hospitality of ALL staff members, the cleanliness, and attention to detail. Multiple nice venues in close proximity from food, entertainment and coffee/studying arena.
Review 32:AC is waaay to loud (even on lowest) for such a new building and for what you'd expect from a Loews. No way this is green and sustainable and efficient and all they brag about. Asked for "highest floor available" months in advance and only got 6th. No Jacuzzi.
Review 33:Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Fairly nice, modern design. Very clean.
Review 34:Costs a lot for what it is but I think that Chicago in general is quite expensive. Has a little park outside it which seems to be used by the homeless at all hours of the day but again, a bit of anchocago issue and they seem mostly harmless.
Review 35:Nice views from some rooms. Although there are better views in the city. Nice clean rooms with floor to ceiling Windows. Nice location near the river, navy pier, Gold Coast, Michigan avenue and the loop. I feel that the trump and logjam re better located but this isn't far off and they are far more expensive.
Review 36:We had a real problem at check in because the hotel did not have a confirmation from Booking and did not have the type of room available which we had reserved. We had to pack up and move to the correct room after two days. Big hassle.
Review 37:Well, it's hard to beat a brand new hotel that's 6 months old so it already has the start-up kinks out of the way and it's in perfect condition. Beautiful room with a decent view of the city, and a modern, sleek style, full glass wall of windows, very comfortable bed and bathroom, quiet overall given it's in the middle of the city so once or twice there were sirens. Very friendly and helpful staff from front desk to concierge, wait staff, etc. Given that at this time all of the good hotels in this part of Chicago are expensive, this was a very good price for the quality. We even liked that it was a block off Michigan Ave for convenience without the noise/crowds. Never had to wait for an elevator from our 12th floor. We will go there again!
Review 38:Pricey
Review 39:Awesome location great indoor pool relaxed atmosphere amazing staff and the room was beautiful. Easy parking for downtown Chicago with reduced rate validated parking ticket.
Review 40:I ran into the glass door. Lol BOTH of them. Maybe you should suggest your guest to use the revolving door. I actually injured myself and the sliding door sliced my toe. :(
Review 41:Made a special request I did not think they would meet. I asked for a picture of Bill Murray on the nightstand - got that and a complementary bottle of champagne and chocolates too! Sweet!
Review 42:I wish breakfast was included in our stay. I didn't like that we were charged for using the computers in the business center and then an additional charge for the printer as well. That felt like a rip off the price we were charged to stay in the hotel in the first place.
Review 43:The staff was very friendly, the location was excellent to pretty much everywhere we wanted to be.
Review 44:Bathroom lights beautiful but did not provide enough light on your face. Was not informed that phone had an on and off switch so no dial tone received. Learned about on/off switch upon check out. Did not receive room check out receipt upon departure. Can one be emailed to me?
Review 45:Helpful staff. Beautiful room, Views
Review 46:Rooftop patio stopped serving around 11:00.
Review 47:The staff was so great. It was our 5th wedding anniversary and the staffleft a small bottle of champagne, chocolate covered strawberries, and anote that was personalized by the staff. This made our trip extraspecial. This hotel was absolutely beautiful.
Review 48:Not being advised that you needed your room card to operate the elevator after 10:00 pm. We thought the elevator was not working and so did many other guests. We were not advised that an incidental charge was being added to the bill for each night stayed. I was advised it takes between 3-5 days to be removed from your credit card.
Review 49:Enjoyed the location. Easy to get to many sights.
Review 50:I would like free coffee in the lobby.
Review 51:I loved everything about the hotel. The service, the room, the sound proofing, the amenities. We especially appreciated the outstanding service from the Concierge - Christine. This is our new go-to hotel.
Review 52:no complaints here
Review 53:The hotel was beautiful! The room was neat, and the bed was heavenly. The outdoor bar was classy and great atmosphere. Will MOST DEFINITELY stay here again!
Review 54:The Wifi was spotty, and kept kicking me off, kind of annoying. ...other than that. ...great location and wonderful atmosphere
Review 55:The view was amazing, with a wonderful staff, which made my birthday weekend very relaxing and carefree. ...
Review 56:-Attempted twice to check out our rooftop bar - Streeterville Social - but we were not able to due to private events. - No river view
Review 57:Beautiful, clean hotel! Excellent service from the staff! Very friendly and accommodating towards us!
Review 58:When checking in, the young man at the front desk seemed very disinterested and totally unwilling to go above and beyond to be helpful. I would expect a much higher level of customer care and service at a hotel of this caliber. Especially since I was renting 2 rooms! More training for your staff, please.
Review 59:The accommodations were outstanding!
Review 60:That they did not have any high floors even though the building itself was over 40 stories tall.
Review 61:The comfort of the bed. The modernization of the bathroom.
Review 62:Only one regular coffee pod, charged for cup of coffee in am in lobby. May have received comp, but not clear how, didn't seem like breakfast service was comp but didn't use so didn't look into.
Review 63:Most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Staff friendly and helpful.
Review 64:Enjoyed our stay at Loews while celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary. Would stay again. New hotel with great views, spacious modern rooms, comfy bed, friendly staff, rooftop bar, and wonderful location.
Review 65:Not by any fault of the hotel, but all the streets going to the express way was closed. Made it difficult to get around the city because of the unfamilar streets. I would have liked disposable cups in the room.
Review 66:I loved the modern decore. It was my first time to chicago, and unfortunately we only stayed one night. Would have loved to stay longer and check out the spa and pool area. Loved the white linens and fluffy towels.
Review 67:It was our one year anniversary for being married and they surprised us with chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. They put us in there best room with a gorgeous view.
Review 68:Nothing
Review 69:Great location. Close to an amazing Whole Foods. Double deck bus pick up close to hotel. Close to the lake. Beautiful view of the river. River walk is very close. Walkable distance to Michigan Avenue. Corner room is worth it!
Review 70:We wanted to go on the patio, but a wedding reception was going on. We booked this hotel just for the patio. Was a little upsetting
Review 71:The staff was extremely pleasant. The bed was the most comfortable we've ever slept on.
Review 72:The bathtub didn't seem to have been cleaned. The amount of dirt built up tells me that a tenant had been there for a week or more before us. Possibly the staff in their rush to get it ready, forgot the cleaning of the tub. It wasn't dirty in the shower, but we avoided the tub. Didn't bother to tell the staff to clean it for us seeing as how the shower was clean and we were only staying one night, (staycation). Everything else was clean.
Review 73:Staff was courteous from start to finish. Bedding was clean and very comfortable. The room was modern. We stayed in a Lake View Suite on the 9th floor (room 926). It had automatic blinds and curtains. Two big screen Samsung LCD Smart TVs. And of course the gorgeous 3 sided view of the skyline (East, South, and partially West). Woke up to a beautiful sunrise overlooking the Navy Pier Ferris wheel. Awesome. Best hotel I've stayed in so far. Will stay in again. Oh and try the hotel bar, kinda pricey (obviously), but not watered down, at least not by the bartender we had.
Review 74:Can't fault this hotel. Very modern, clean. Nice size and view. We booked the corner room. Friendly and attentive staff. Excellent location next to the river. Very comfy bed
Review 75:Still a chain hotel. Yes, the staff cared, but they did nothing about any problems or inconveniences or issues we had. Housekeeping was late every day, and sloppy.
Review 76:I like that they cared about how our stay was going; they checked in via text each day. The hotel is new and clean.
Review 77:Streeterville social "last call" was too early at 11:15pm..come on it's Chicago. Need bigger selection of food at Stretterville social.
Review 78:It was very new and modern. The Streeterville Social rooftop cafe was nice
Review 79:Nothing outstanding
Review 80:My wife and I went to Chicago to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We completely enjoyed the location, services, hotel facilities, and the staff taking care of us. We will return to the hotel in the future.
Review 81:This hotel had a great modern/trendy look. The staff was delightful. The hotel had a great terrace brand the high end toiletries were a plus. The deal we got on booking.com was almost too good tone true.
Review 82:spacious room with a great city view across to Lake Michigan. Easy to take 124 bus to Blue Line to visit daughter in Logan Square or walk on river walk to Clark/Lake Blue line stop. Business center complimentary boarding pass printing easy. Also LOVED having Whole Foods across the street.
Review 83:Had to wait past check in time to get a room. Staff could be a bit more professional.
Review 84:Rooms were comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. View was very good. Terrace area was nice. Location was very good.
Review 85:Third Floor terrace fills up quickly and seating is an issue on both sides. Also, a few more umbrellas or canopies that can block the sun a little would be helpful.
Review 86:Upscale hotel with a great third floor terrace area. Love the decor of the hotel lobby. Valet and Bell Staff particularly welcoming and friendly.
Review 87:The bar in the lobby was pretty much as expensive as Streeterville Social but lacking all of the reasons you'd pay a premium for Streeterville Social.
Review 88:Streeterville Social - the terrace bar - is great. Very expensive, but great. Giant Jenga, beautiful views, youngish crowd. The front desk accommodated our early check-in request, which was a huge help. A gentleman outside quickly helps with calling a taxi. Nice, large walk-in showers. Premium toiletries.
Review 89:The room service menu is very limited for the category of the hotel
Review 90:The staff was so friendly..they gave me menus for restaurants that coulD deliver after hours
Review 91:Not a bad experience at all, but I would prefer a buffet breakfast
Review 92:The place looked brand new. Keep it that way! The bath robe was the best I have ever experienced. I would be delighted if you were to send me one!!
Review 93:The staff was helpful and wonderful. Great location. May be our new fav when staying in Chicago! Downside: Don't be surprised about the valet parking fee of $65 per night. Most people are aware of this when staying in Chicago.
Review 94:The eggs were a bit runny on one day, but other than that, the food was excellent. The food while very good was a bit on the pricy side because of the 22% gratuity fee, plus $5 delivery fee, plus additional tip that they expected.
Review 95:Location, food decor, set up, facilities. Everything was excellent for the most part.
Review 96:Self parking is available, but given that the ramp is only accessible via an outside hike through a park we would recommend valet parking.
Review 97:Location and staff made this hotel stand up above all.
Review 98:Only one restaurant and it wasn't great food. The smokey smell from the restaurant permeated the hallways but the room was fine. No porters to help with luggage was a problem.
Review 99:Staff was EXCELLENT and the proximity to shopping and site seeing was a real plus. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go. The rooms were very nice and the room rate was reasonable. Overall we enjoyed the stay.
Review 100:I did not like that my card was pre charged for services I did not use, like spa and bar etc. But after checking out the charges were placed back onto my card.
Review 101:The Staff Were Great, Very Nice. The Hotel Was Clean And The Bathroom Was Absolutely Amazing.
Review 102:- No fridge for groceries. - No lighting adjustment (all on or all off). - No bottle opener anywhere in the hotel - Very young staff (improvement for interaction skills)
Review 103:- Very quiet and a good night sleep. - Updated and modern furniture. - TV with mirror projection capability. - Very clean (room & building). - Lounge entertainment (live jazz band). - Business and adults oriented.
Review 104:I had reserved a room with 2 double beds. When I arrived I was informed that the room type I had booked was unavailable and they only had a king bed room. I was traveling with a coworker so a king bed was not appropriate. All they did was give us a $50 credit on our room rate and free breakfast. In my opinion they should have given us a free room or a roll away but they didn't have any cots.... Very frustrating Also the spa facilities were terrible! The spa treatment rooms are right next to the pool and all you hear is screaming from the pool as you try to relax. I would have expected much more from a brand new hote.
Review 105:Argentinian breakfast
Review 106:All staff friendly, helpful and attentive from bell boy to front desk to concierge. All seemed eager to help their guests. Bell Boy offered to pick up ice on our arrival. He took our ice bucket and filled it and returned it to our room. The only improvement would be a hot tub.
Review 107:Everything! The hotel was beautiful, the location is ideal, and the staff are not only the nicest you would ever want to find...they're genuinely happy people! It was a great first stay in Chicago and I will would recommend this hotel to everyone.
Review 108:I feel bad for the guests who have face the rather unremarkable "Sheridan" building next door! Not a great view.
Review 109:Floor to ceiling windows on a 14th floor corner king room offer a pretty nice view. Everything was clean and comfortable.
Review 110:The staff at the front desk could use some 101 customer service training. The interaction during the check in and check out process was awful (no greeting, no acknowledgment, no enthusiasm, no willingness to assist). They lack basic customer service skills.
Review 111:The location was great. The price of the hotel was excellent.
Review 112:If I had to fault something I would say the pillows might be a little too flat for me, but it was not an issue and my husband liked how they were.
Review 113:very helpful & friendly staff, top-class view from the room, good wifi speed... Every thing was new, stylish, with attention to details and we felt wonderful throughout our 4 nights' stay in Loews Hotel.
Review 114:The rooms are well proportioned and the view was lovely. We enjoyed the live music in the lobby on the Friday night we were there. And the staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 115:We paid over $500 for one night, they put us in a room looking out at the Sheraton hotel with no view of anything but the windows.. I was not happy at all.. We are customers that have stay in the Miami hotel and Chicago.. They don't try to help out!
Review 116:its nice and comfortable..
Review 117:The weather in Chicago while we were there was terrible which meant that we spent more time in the room than expected. But the room was so nice, we didn't mind.
Review 118:room took forever to be ready for us. they kept saying just a few more minutes, be patient, and it was 3 hours.
Review 119:Nice, new, clean, large rooms, great view of the lake and Navy Pier
Review 120:The hotel on checkout tried to charge a higher amount than that confirmed by booking.com. They also tried to charge us for mini bar use when we had not used the mini bar at all. The concierge when asked to recommend a place for a casual dinner sent us to an area more appropriate for a twenty something crowd than a mature couple.
Review 121:The central location, room on top floor with partial view of the river, everything brand new and clean; spacious and comfortable.
Review 122:Nothing at all! We are coming back SOON!
Review 123:We LOVED everything! From our check in (Edward was GREAT!), to our Bell Boy (Noah was Amazing!), to the BEAUTIFUL lobby AND the EXQUISITE BEDROOM! I Could go on! !
Review 124:The hotel wasn't necessarily inconvenient; however, it was not in the midst of activity. Additionally, while a nice restaurant in the lobby, the Starbucks and other simple amenities were not available. The pricing seemed a bit high (maybe $40 to $50 per night in our opinion).
Review 125:We always enjoy new hotels and this one has attractive décor both in the room and on the grounds/lobby. We have stayed in many Chicago hotels and unless you select the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, or the Ritz Carlton, you would not have as nice accommodations.
Review 126:almost everything that was promoted was not there. Said upper level room with a view, I received a lower level view with a view of a parking garage. Parking included...nope had to spend $70 out of pocket on a self parking lot. Room was a certain price, nope we want to charge you $50 more than you booked it at. Mini bar charges that were invalid that I had to have reversed.
Review 127:made to feel like it was a very expensive upscale hotel
Review 128:Parking. although I understand the parking problems in Chicago parking could have been better.
Review 129:Our room was wonderful and the location perfect. I will do this again.
Review 130:Construction was on going on my floor. Hotel staff did not provide prior warning on the noise.
Review 131:The location, the bar and the facility. It is a new hotel.
The Fine Print
