Reviews for Motel 6 Portland Maine

Review 1:Coffee in am 30 min.late no non sugar, no decaf, room did Not get cleaned after one night, police at hotel 3 times that I saw, WiFi $2.99. I would Never stay at a Motel 6 again. It was a dump.

Review 2:This is a pet friendly four floor motel. I have nothing against pets except that guests staying without pets should be located such that they are not directly above or below rooms with pets nor in the same side hallway when at all possible.

Review 3:Aside from having to pay an extra charge for WiFi which was pretty stupid, the front lobby smelled like it hadn't been cleaned since opening day but that's to be expected in putter brighton ave Portland.

Review 4:I spent all of 8 hours in the hotel sleeping. No one woke me up that was nice.

Review 5:They charged $4 a day for wifi and the electricity went off one of the days forcing me to go outside of the hotel to do my work. When I complained, I was promised by management that I would be reimbursed but upon checking out, the manager was not available to fulfill the promise. I was given his card and have called the number looking for him but he never seems to be available and hasn't returned my calls.

Review 6:They charge extra for WiFi- only Motel 6 I ever had to do that at. So I didnt. The room smelled like a dirty person had been living in it- was the A/C filter- moldy.

Review 7:Check in was quick, the room was clean looking. Centrally located and inexpensive.

Review 8:Staff are unapproachable, rooms are hideous, wifi costs extra, don't provide basic toiletries, headboard FELL OFF. Cheap as it is, still not worth it. You can find much better for a similar price.

Review 9:Nothing.

Review 10:The room needs one good comfy chair to watch TV in or read. Straight back wooden chairs are hard on the back after a half hour or so.

Review 11:Access to hotel and the closeness of restaurants. Bed was very comfortable and ability to adjust heat or cold was appreciated.

Review 12:The laundry could do with another couple of washing machines.

Review 13:The room was clean. Good value for money, as the hotel seemed relatively well maintained.

Review 14:Staff was very unfriendly and unprofessional. The light bulb in our bathroom blew out and they made us change it by removing the globe. Never once had house keeping visit our room. Front desk clerk was a retired NY cop who didn't know what he was doing yet claimed he knew and made a point of raising his voice to us because of it. The GM said we were the trouble room because we wanted to have a bathroom with a working light.

Review 15:Great location for in and around Portland area.

Review 16:Cleanliness, accommodations, pay for Internet, smells had to leave window open to breath. Smelled like dirty wet animals and cheap cheap overused carpet fresh in hallways. Had to put sweater over mouth and nose to breathe. Eyes were instantly irritated and bloodshot. Will NEVER stay there again

Review 17:Nothing

Review 18:I stayed Sun. to Thur. one week (two different reservations), and 2 of the days my room was not made up. A couple of other nights, my towels weren't replaced. Guest washing machine was out of order for a week. Some one dropped a potato chip on the stairs and it stayed there for over a week. May be still there for all I know.

Review 19:Room reasonable for price. Will probably stay there again in spite of some issues.

Review 20:The stair case stinks. It smells like wet dog, also the aisles smell heavily like tobacco. There was not a sensation of cleanliness to the place.

Review 21:The location and the room were nice.

Review 22:Grim and spartan rooms. Neighborhood unsafe after dark. There are homeless people living nearby, who are intoxicated and insane.

Review 23:Clean and cheap. Close to Portland downtown.

Review 24:Friendly staff, clean room, ample parking. Nothing I didn't like. Just keep in mind it has no frills. Just the basics. But I wasn't in town to spend hours in the hotel.

Review 25:The place Smelled like old cigarettes. When we got to our rooms each room had bed bugs in the bathroom and on the beds. We immediately left

Review 26:We got our money back

Review 27:Staff was very helpful and friendly, room was clean, facility looked newly renovated. My stay was quiet and very comfortable - I would definitely return to this Motel 6!

Review 28:The whole place just wreaks of industrial cleaning chemicals. Do not stay here if you are sensitive to strong odors or have any type of allergies or breathing issues. We do not ourselves but it was still unbearable.

Review 29:night manager was very rude and unwilling to listen to a complaint. front desk had blood on it and was not cleaned.

Review 30:convenient to inner city for a value price

Review 31:1) Garish neon green paint on walls 2) Minimal on furniture and decor, two odd curved wooden chairs that looked really uncomfortable 3) No carpet 4) No clock or radio 5) No shampoo in bathroom 6) No breakfast 7) Wet towel on bathroom floor when we arrived 8) Bathroom ceiling was visibly peeling 9) Bedspreads very ugly 10) Generally creepy room; felt like it should be rented by the hour, not by the day Makeover and upgrades badly needed.

Review 32:The room was available. Staff were friendly and helpful. The mattress was comfortable, and there were clean towels. Shower worked well. Clean tub. No signs of bedbugs. Easy to find.

Review 33:THERE WAS NO HAIR SHAMPOO, OR HAIR CONDITIONER OFFERED IN THE BATHROOM, FURTUNATLLY I HAD SOME FROM ONE OF THE OTHER HOTELS / MOTELS I HAD RECENTLY STAYED AT!!

Review 34:CONVIENT LOCATION, EASY ACCESS TO AND FROM THE I - 95 HIGHWAY. SHOPPING PLAZA ACROSS THE STREET OFFERED A SUPER MARKET AND A RUBY TUESDAY RESTAURANT, PLUS OTHER STORES. BREAKFAST RESTAURANT " EGG AND I " NEARBY HAD A VERY NICE BREAKFAST SELECTION.

Review 35:broken lock system to door so poor security / cigarette beds on bed/ and linen of non smoking room / room smelt of urine - staff came with fabreeze bottle but did not come and clean

Review 36:Our room was supposed to be a non smoking room. It smelled like smoke and we needed to get an air freshener. There was a cig burn in one of the bed sheets. We couldn't get out of there quick enough. I am glad you asked because I would like a refund?? Is this possible?

Review 37:Location; cleanliness; clothing damp when having run a/c at nite; fact that area and property are crime ridden. No continental breakfast that other cheap motels offer.

Review 38:The odor of the room when we opened the door was a mix of a dog park on a hot day and disinfectant. The remote control was covered with a sticky substance. The front desk worker told us our room could not be changed because no other one was available. An employee then sprayed the drapes and air in our room with a Febreze-like product in an effort to remedy the situation. It helped only a little.

Review 39:The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom seemed clean enough.

Review 40:There was an awful odor throughout the facility - possibly carpet glue or a cleaning product, the bed was uncomfortable, the room was tiny, and when we asked for another pillow, they said they were out of them.

Review 41:It was near I95 and it was clean.

Review 42:Wasn"t The Cleanest Of Places,No Small Fridge Or extras like blow dryer in room, the inconvenience of no ice machines on each floor, had to go down the elevator to the first floor.no clock in the room.had towels but no face clothes.paid for wifi but only one computer could use it at a time!! dust bunnies and pieces of kids candy on the floor.wasnt sure the elevator was gonna work a couple times.

Review 43:the price was good for the area

Review 44:Not worth the summer time rates. The rooms were painted really tacky and the optional hall ways or exits to upstairs were filthy.

Review 45:It was the least expensive motel in the area

Review 46:I specifically asked for a non smoking room due to allergies. The hallway stunk of smoke and even though the room said non smoking, it stunk like smoke and some type of cleaner, like they were trying to cover up the smell. There were cigarette burns on the bed spread. The sheet and pillow had stains on them. The bed was hard and I woke up with a backache. There were only two pillows, that were flat. I know it's a budget hotel, so I didn't mind that it wasn't the most comfortable bed, but the smokey smell was awful.

Review 47:I liked the layout and size and decor of the room. Location was convenient and easy to find.

Review 48:Never cleaned my room! Loud. Only one washer/dryer for the whole place!

Review 49:Pet friendly. Good location with a cess to highway and a Panerai close by.

Review 50:Our room was not made while we were out for the day. Do let the front desk know that you would like your room made.

Review 51:Room was small with bare necessities. I would suggest bringing your own toiletries. There is paid (and slow) wifi in the room.

Review 52:I found the hotel very convenient to our destination. The room was clean, the bed comfortable but motel walls and elevators and floors need a good cleaning and perhaps a paint job.

Review 53:My smoke alarm went off and the front desk person was Russian, he was unclear what to do.

Review 54:The price was very good. The room was very clean. Low noise.

Review 55:Not a bad experience, but would have liked at least an upholstered chair in addition to the designer wooden ones.

Review 56:Good value for money, as long as you don't intend to spend much time in the room, or object to being several miles from the center of town (though just off a road that leads directly to the center).

Review 57:The room was in need of well, demolition. The beds (both) had burn holes from the top cover right into the blanket. The shower floor was in need of retiling as the existing tile was broken and strewn about. The water from the shower went out to the bedroom. The staff could have cared less when we complained. All they kept saying was that they would let management know. I would never recommend this particular Motel 6 to anyone. It was completely discussing! and for $100? Wasn't worth 10. Rm 418.

Review 58:Leaving.

Review 59:Facilities. Crummy towels. Not enough pillows or blankets. No hair dryer in room.

Review 60:Their staff. Mostly young and very helpful. Their price, but only compared to other options in Portland. Owners must be tightwads, but most staff was very nice and helpful.

Review 61:Comfortable enough, I wish it were closer to downtown. It's very suburban, so a car is preferable over transit. However, a grocery and typical restaurants are near at hand, so that's good.

Review 62:I read some reviews prior to booking a room here, which had me on the fence. Yes, the halls and stairwells may leave something to be desired as far as the scent and ambiance, but who cares? If you're not hanging out there, and why would you, you'll go straight to your room. Once inside, all was clean and good.

Review 63:It was definitely a bare bones hotel with no amenities. I just needed a place to stay while a family member was in the hospital. It served the purpose.

Review 64:All of the above. Drunks loitering outside. Loud patrons. Filthy hallways. Garbage everywhere. Still $112 with taxes! Nasty

Review 65:The air conditioning worked.

Review 66:There was some kind of smear on the ceiling that looked like feces, that was gross. And what's with paying for Wifi???

Review 67:The price and the retro feel

Review 68:The room was not clean. The wi-fi, that I paid $3.00 for was a joke. The speed was less than dial up. The front desk person lied to me about the speed of the wi-fi.

Review 69:Easy access to the airport.

Review 70:Just an overall musty, dirty feeling. It's not necessarily easy to get to because you have to circle a complex block in order to make the mandatory right turn into the property. Customers might want to review this if they're going for the first time. The toilet was partially stopped up the whole time. I complained once and I "think" they looked at it, but it didn't get totally fixed.

Review 71:It was probably the cheapest I could find in Portland, and that's all I really wanted. The desk people were pretty friendly. All in all, I just wanted the cheapest place I could find, and it worked. No frills, not the cleanest place in the world, but it works as a place to stay.

Review 72:The whole place smells like cigarette and urine. Don't even provide shampoo, basic toiletries.

Review 73:For the price we paid, not with it and will never stay at this hotel again.

Review 74:The motel looked and smelled like a jail. There were homeless people in the lobby and the hallways looked like they hadn't seen a vacuum in ages! The whole place reeked of cigarettes! The comforter was seriously stained and the sheets had what looked like blood stains!! We had originally made reservations to stay there 3 nights but after seeing the condition of the motel, we left after the next morning. We would have left the first night but had no other option available. Never, never again will we stay at a Motel 6!!!

Review 75:Whole place smelled like cigarette smoke. And room was dirty upon arrival. Needs to be updated.

Review 76:Good location for money spent and time of year we went. Near many attractions and beaches. And we could bring our pup with us.

Review 77:Pillow smelled. Bed cover was terribly stained. (These issues are essily resolved with little effort.) Hallway a/c unit was loud.

Review 78:No carpeting in room.

Review 79:Filthy and disgusting and kind of terrifying. I would say "you get what you pay for," but we paid way too much for this awful experience, considering that it's the height of summer travel. My husband and I didn't sleep all night.

Review 80:That we had to pay for internet then it was off in the morning didnt even have for 24 hours should add the extra to the price so it I fee. Also no hair dryer in the room.

Review 81:Liked that it was close to different restraunt's and the surrounding activities.

Review 82:The phone had a weird tone to it and I couldn't reach the front desk. No shampoo. Bed was hard

Review 83:The room was clean and in good repair. The floor was relatively quiet and comfortable.

Review 84:Smoke. Urine. Homeless people. And that's just the smell of theplace. What a nightmare. My significant other and I didn't even dareleave our suitcases open for fear of never getting the cigarette stenchout of them. Our initial stay was the 24th-28th however on the 27th theytold us they didn't have a reservation for us (even though I had aconfirmation email which I showed the sleeping customer service rep) andthey were booked the final night. So we wound up checking out andcutting our vacation in Maine a day short. We dealt with homeless peoplewandering the parking lot, other hotel guests smoking in the lobby whilepouring their coffee and "housekeeping" (if you call it that)who restocked our bathroom with wet rolled up towels! I know, it wasonly $65 a night, but those are standards for a crummy nyc hotel not onein Portland, Maine. Disgusting.

Review 85:It was better than sleeping outside in the rain.. (Actually... No. Itwasn'T.)

Review 86:The trash cans located near the front dor were overflowing with refuse, some of which became windblown across the parking lot and near the front walkways, the elevator reminded me of public housing in NYC. Not good. On the upside, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was akin to a prison cell with a flat screen. The next night I stayed at the motel 6 in Wethersfield, ct. It was clean, inviting and staffed properly. Portland should take the example and these comments to improve. There you go.

Review 87:The hallway was messy, a little vacuuming could have been done, It didn't bother me but it was a job that should have been taking care of. Again in the hallway, i could hear everyone conversation due to the poor isolation of the walls, even if it was a dog friendly motel, i never once heard a dog bark, only humans when yelling and scrolling at their kids. The white lightbulbs in the bedroom are harsh to the eyes, if changed to a warm colour lightbulbs, it would change the room atmosphere for the better. Good thing we didn't pay for the wifi, since the internet connection always fail.

Review 88:It was a very pet friendly motel, they accepte dogs of every size. Very friendly employees, helpful with local activist suggestions. Wifi was extra, but they offer us for free. The motel is close to portland downtown about 11min, close to the highway 95, cape elisabeth 15min, denny's, portland maine mall, famous daves, miss portland diner, overall the motel is at it's great when it comings to location.

Review 89:The floors could be swept a little more often, the towels were rough and scratchy. While we can appreciate a pet/child friendly establishment, guests need to be more aware of the volume of their barking dog and screaming child.

Review 90:This was a centrally located motel that was relatively quiet. There was plenty of parking and a variety of businesses around. Most of the front desk folks were happy and pleasant to deal with.

Review 91:The facility was smelly, dark and dingy, mostly in and around the elevators.

Review 92:The rooms were up to Motel 6 standards. Laminate flooring, bright accent wall, large, comfortable bed. Seemed very clean, but had a small cigarette burn on the comforter and it was clear that smoking rooms and non smoking rooms were one in the same. Excellent front desk staff too! I booked using booking.com with a genius discount and when we arrived, the front desk got us an even better rate!

Review 93:Nothing for baby to sleep in.. No blankets... Tiny towels. Elevator was pretty grimy ok

Review 94:Clean...nice staff. Good location Liked pergola floors instead of rugs.

Review 95:We checked in on Saturday June 6 for a 2 day stay. Spent all day away from the facility on Sunday. Returned at the end of the day to find room was not cleaned or bed made. Desk clerk said nothing could be done as staff had left. Asked her to advise manager. Left Monday morning with no contact or note from manager when we checked our. We feel at least a 50% reduction on our second day should have been made. Would appreciate this be assed to the manager

Review 96:Was around 1030 pm trying to my son to sleep, I was tired myself when I heard and a white old man knocking at the door stating to open otherwise he will call the police. I Half way open the door and stated that he had a noise complain. And if he had to come back we be kicked out without a refund. Now I'm five months pregnant, tired , had graduation the next day , a 7year old kid that was reading a story book . No drinking or partying was going. I didn't reply to this man because he seems very serious and rude . I felt mistreated.

Review 97:I really didn't like the location.

Review 98:I liked the price and the friendliness of the staff there. I also liked the comfort of the bed and the cleanliness of the bathroom.

Review 99:The motel its self the staff, the company of bed bugs that greeted me, the smell of mold, and the slow internet that you have to pay for!

Review 100:Because it was next to another place I could go to because I will never visit this establishment again!

Review 101:Had to use room phone it was dirty like it hadn't been used in years

Review 102:Non carpet floors and how clean room was. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Review 103:Bad wifi! I couldn't access any site other than Google search and Facebook which made it hard to find restaurants and things to do around.

Review 104:Super friendly staff and clean room.

Review 105:The Place was dirty as hell. There was black hair (not from us) all over the Room. The ground were crumbs and black hair was even on the newly washed towels.

Review 106:Quick Check-in

Review 107:Don't raise your rates by $4 bucks a night because it's Valentine's Day weekend. Pretty cheesy.

Review 108:Great front staff. I was a repete customer for the following reasons. No hassle booking, fair rate, comfortable no frills room, the water was hot and the bed is comfortable. The room is clean.

Review 109:There was a smell of stale cigarette smoke everywhere, even in my nonsmoking room. Also, not quiet at all. We could here what sounded like a dog walking in the room above us and 2 people arguing in the parking lot. Would not recommend.

Review 110:a bit far away from downtown Portland, but next to the I.95

Review 111:clean and spacious room, bed comfortable, free coffee, friendly staff, value for money as always with Motel 6

Review 112:It was more of a place where people lived. There was no tissues, shampoo or any of the little things that you would expect to be provided. We did have toilet paper!

Review 113:The room was clean

Review 114:...It's a little bit sad that there is no free wi-fi. I consider this a standard nowadays. The free coffee was undrinkable – but coffee generally is not a strong point in the States.

Review 115:Surprisingly modern interior with almost everything you need. Good value for the price. Would stay there again, with one caveat....

Review 116:The vending machine was broken for the first day I was there.

Review 117:The staff was extremely helpful. they made my stay there awesome. They treated me like there best friend. The bed was extremely comfortable.

Review 118:I couldn't afford to stay longer.

Review 119:It was a cool place to stay. I will be staying there for Two nights next month. This is the only place in Portland Maine that I will stay at.

Review 120:There was quite a bit of noise most of the night. It seemed like a lot of people were spending the night/partying in the motel. We went downtown for the evening which is about ten minutes from this location.

Review 121:The design was much more modern than I had anticipated, I really liked the hardwood. The air conditioner worked very well, overall it was a good stay.

Review 122:Need more lighting in the parking lot, a bit Frightening with some of the people hanging around the lot. Room was sparsely furnished, no alarm clock. Room smelled of fresh paint, a little overwhelming when we first arrive.

Review 123:Close to the airport.

Review 124:I found the room very clean. It was a bit sparse for furniture but that was fine as I was there with a friend shopping. We were overall pleased with the accomodations.

Review 125:Stayed in 13 motels this trip and this is the only one who charged for wifi. Went to mcdonalds down the street to use theirs and at breakfast used Denny's free wifi. At least they provided free wifi for their customers

Review 126:No free Wifi, no water boiler, no microwave in the motel (you had to go to the nearby gas station if you wanted to warm something up), you need a key card to get into the hotel even when staff is around

Review 127:Staff

Review 128:Other guests that with pets that would not and did not pick up after their pets. And just outside the front door. Maybe a pet baggy dispenser on site or a friendly stern message at cheek-in and a sign posted.

Review 129:The room ,the price, the pet friendly policy and the location for what I needed.

Review 130:the door to our room didn't shut properly and when we told this to the clerk, it didn't seem to matter

Review 131:nice location right off the highway and close to restuarants
