Reviews for Route 66 Motel
Review 1:No bad experiences.
Review 2:The grounds have old rusted out cars from bygone eras, many years ago. Interesting but in really bad shape. It's what you would expect with a 50 year old facility. staff very helpful.
Review 3:Another pillow would have been a nice touch and an extra blanket as the temp dipped below 0.
Review 4:Convenient to R66. Friendly owners. Cool, old style grounds with funky R66 memorabilia.
Review 5:The room was rather plain. WARNING: There are 3 other Motels/Hotels named "Route 66" in town. This is the one you want.
Review 6:A fun and quirky property. Much to look at decor-wise
Review 7:Dated - bathroom facilities could be updated
Review 8:Nostalgic, decorated with Route 66 theme, very friendly and helpful, close to highway. Great access to historic Route 66
Review 9:What makes this a great place to stay is knowing how the owners overcame extreme hardships to build their success story. They helped revive the town and recreated the US Route 66 mystic. This motel cannot be compared to the ubiquitous cookie cutter Super this and Motel that's that are now stealing their originality. Overlook the lack of modern convenience and embrace in knowing you experienced a memorable moment from American history.
Review 10:We were on a road trip with our 1959 Corvette it seemed like the perfect fit and it was we love the ambience the rooms are dated but it was comfortable and the staff was very friendly would stay there again .
Review 11:The room was large and clean. It had everything we needed. We were especially interested in vintage Rt. 66 hotels, and this one met all of our expectations and more.
Review 12:Not the motel's fault, but not a lot of dining options near by.
Review 13:The hotel has a wonderful route 66 theme outdoors. This was our first stop on holiday and it made it special to be surrounded by everything route 66. The room was nice, clean and comfortable, perfect for a one night stay.
Review 14:could use new seals on door, kind of light in morning
Review 15:nice size room, clean and well kept for older inn, asked for quiet room and did get room on end and was quiet, the old cars and stuff to look at
Review 16:Rooms could be better but worth the money.
Review 17:Nice staff. Nice decoration outside the building. Is the only thing that brings me route 66 mood in barstow.
Review 18:The first room (110) smelt really bad and the owners were very apologetic and moved us straightaway. Room 101 wasn't much better, very old furniture, stained bedding, big gap in door showing light through, main lock not working-everything shoddy and grubby. This could be a nice motel with a total room refurb. We were glad to leave in the morning.
Review 19:The outside area was fantastic and spotless. There were old 1950's cars and trucks in a great Route 66 setting. Looked great from the outside... But
Review 20:Small quirky Motel. Just what we wanted. Clean & tidy with a comfortable bed. Gentleman that checked us in was super friendly, keen to chat and gave us details of local restaurants. Good for a stopover on Route 66.
Review 21:The room was absolutely not like the photos on Booking. We visited 3 different rooms and all of them were not "modern" as the picture. Really disappointing.
Review 22:Noisy air con
Review 23:The vintage cars in front of the motel really set the scene for our stopover. The room had a round bed which added to the character. It was a great price
Review 24:Genuine motel experience. Basic but with a quirky charm and a very friendly owner. Rusty old cars all around like a museum of Route 66 motoring from the heyday of 50's and 60's. Dinner at Denny's down the road completes the whole experience!
Review 25:Friendly and informative owners. Surprisingly quite being close to the road. First time in a round bed! Nice "exhibition" of antique cars in the courtyard.
Review 26:The air con rattled incessantly. No vending machines or breakfast option.
Review 27:We are doing Route 66, so this was a 'must stay' place. The R66 inspired landscaping and paintwork is the attraction.
Review 28:Nothing but eould not stay for any length of time. Go for the experience.
Review 29:The location was good good friendly bar called eagles. The motel is unique and worth a visit for one night
Review 30:We didn't feel safe in the town in the evening. Local shopkeeper warned us not to go out after dark. Even during the daytime, lots of people asked us for spare change. Long walk to find meals.
Review 31:Clean, great R66 atmosphere and memorabilia.
Review 32:Huge round hard bed made it difficult to fit luggage in around it. No hanging space but no big deal as only doing an overnighter. No tea/coffee making facilities.
Review 33:Parking outside room. Staff/managers eager to please. Air cond good, wifi only good after everyone else went to bed.
Review 34:The bed was awful, but worst of all, even though we had a reservation, the air conditioning was off in our room when we arrived at 9:30 pm. It was well over 100 degrees F and took over an hour and a half to cool to a point we could even think of going to bed.
Review 35:The place had really nifty old cars
Review 36:The route 66 feeling. The route 66 memorabilia. The route 66 neon signs. The friendly owner and the good customer service. The owners route 66 dedication. The fair price.
Review 37:No bad experience but newer towels are needed.
Review 38:Old motel that has been remodeled by owners of 37 years. They are very friendly and helpful. They've gathered up a collection of old cars, signs, etc. to stay with the Route 66 history.?
Review 39:The owners were so nice. My friend and I arrived at 3 or so in the morning and they owners let us check out at 1pm instead of 11am. They are very proud of the history and take great care of the motel.
Review 40:great location on route 66, very nice and welcoming receptionist. enjoyed the stay and would definitely go back there when have a chance in the future. was really lovely :-)
Review 41:The owner was very friendly, great to talk to him about the history of the motel. The rooms are big with round beds, they are dated but that adds to the character.
Review 42:A coffee in the morning at the office would have been nice...
Review 43:They created a little Route 66 oasis -lovely environment - clean room - room has good size - close to good restaurants We would go there again
Review 44:No kitchen stuff except a dirty microwave. The room smelled like a smoking room, even though it's supposed to be non-smoking only.
Review 45:Round beds are awesome. Got the room by itself, which was really great.
Review 46:Too many loud sirens in the steet.
Review 47:Stayed there in 2011, came back for the historic atmosphere. Mary was a nice hostess. The bathroom was very nice and clean.
Review 48:No round beds as promised. Electricity stopped working in the middle of the (freezing!) night. Eventually rectified though by very obliging owners.
Review 49:Very clean and obviously new renovation. Helpful owners.
Review 50:I didn't like the proprietor's recommendation to the worse Mexican food I've ever had in my life! I even returned a Margarita for bottled beer. I figured they couldn't mess that up . . . Rosarita's
Review 51:Furniture and fixtures were all pretty dated but adequate. The bed and linens weren't super comfortable.
Review 52:This place has a great vibe and is a good value for the money. I thought the room was okay. WiFi was great. Staff was friendly and was very flexible with me after checking in late at night after a long day on the road.
Review 53:The room itself left a lot to be desired. I did not expect the Four Seasons since I only paid fifty dollars a night but from the reviews I did expect more. The room had been remodeled but apparently by a blind man. The walls were painted a plain flat white and there was hardly any decor. The pillows were awful and I woke up with a sore neck. The Bathroom of our room felt like it was falling off the side of the room and their was not even a hair dryer. It felt dingy and old.
Review 54:The front desk staff which I am assuming are the owners were very friendly. They took the time to ask if we were planning to eat dinner and what we would like. They then made a recommendation to a very good restaurant. We had Directv which was nice as well.
Review 55:It looks nice from the outside, but once you enter the room.... carpet is dirty, and so is the bathroom. We found hairs from people before us. Never again!
Review 56:The owners are so welcoming and nice! This place is very historic and the first motel built in Barstow. Of course it is a Motel, not a Hilton so what are you expecting? I will stay here again if I ever pass through. Help keep this historic place alive!
Review 57:The interior and round bed was too funky to my taste. All and all it's just one night stop.
Review 58:Very nice place with wonderful car park collection. Nicely visible and easy to find. The owner gave us room with no neighboring rooms to have more comfort and less noise.
Review 59:1. No ice service, but the hotel owner brought us lots of ice in ice box. 2. Small room, but very reasonable for the room price.
Review 60:Typical R66 motel. Kind of R66 museum with some old cars collection. Friendly reception and practical advice.
Review 61:We viewed one of the rooms with a circular bed in it, and the headboard of this bed looked a bit grubby. Go for a normal room.
Review 62:From the outside this little motel looks a bit hip and funky with all the old cars and Route 66 paraphernalia outside. Check in was swift and its not an expensive place to stay in you are passing through. The room was clean but could do we an upgrade.
Review 63:Our room hadn't been updated since Tod and Buz were touring Route 66 on B&W TV. Everything was old, with a postage stamp-sized sink in a closet-sized bathroom. Needed a major remodel/facelift.
Review 64:The staff was friendly and helpful. The outdoor props were funky-cool. Not too far from town. Has Route 66 in the name.
Review 65:Loved it. Would be nice to give guests a Route 66 Motel souvenir or brochure on Route 66 or something guests would get from yesteryear.
Review 66:We loved our stay. It was quiet, relaxing, room tidy with round bed and a nostalgic worn look. You come here for the ambience of days gone by. Its not run down. It is very well maintained. Way back when there were no in room coffee maker, hairdryer, iron and there still isnt. Great. That's what it's all about. Great value.
Review 67:nothing..!
Review 68:This motel was clean and the wifi was good. The owners are friendly and informative ! Just loved our short stay here on our way to "Sin City".. We will recommend to our friends.
Review 69:The round bed lol
Review 70:We'd stay here again. Victor that runs the place is great! Very helpful, and good knowledge of the area! Rooms are good. It is a older building. But old is cool. Nice and quite. Good ac!! Good bars in the area.
Review 71:I had no problems here at all.
Review 72:Clean quiet room with a microwave and fridge. The property is decorated with old Rt. 66 memorabilia and the manager was very helpful.
Review 73:This was a cool, retro spot to stop on my way to Las Vegas. The lady at the desk was so sweet and helpful. Though not much in the way of amenities, it was a good value for the money.
Review 74:Could have had a coffee maker in the room (rather than a microwave?)
Review 75:Really friendly owners, who are really proud of what they have created, and were extremely welcoming. Also the feel and atmosphere of the place was just what we wanted, before the madness of LA!
Review 76:The owners have been around a while. Very knowledgeable of the history of the town and place. Co-founders of the route 66 museum in barstow which is very cool
Review 77:Nothing
Review 78:The owners were very friendly and proud of the Motel. It is a blast from the past. We would recommend it to the traveler that wont's something different to talk about when they get home. We were very comfortable there.
Review 79:No hair drier.
Review 80:Would like to have the Rt 66 experience this is one of the better places. It is clean and comfortable. Do not expect luxury but do expect a good night sleep.
Review 81:Motel in a rougher part of town but never feared for safety.
Review 82:The manager was friendly and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. Quiet except for in wall AC.
Review 83:It was perfect for what we needed. Somewhere to stop a quick overnight on the way to Las Vegas. The room was clean and comfortable and the wifi was great too. The option of being able to check in 24 hours was great for us as we didn't arrive til late evening.
Review 84:Old styling. Round bed made stay different. Was an interesting overnight stop due to memorabilia eg: old cars in car park, signs newspaper clippings Taste of the past. Owners recommended Rositas restaurant within walking distance who gave a 10% discount to guests staying at Route 66 motel. Glad to support Route 66 businesses.
Review 85:It's not so easy to find a restaurant to eat quitly after 9.00 pm in the area.
Review 86:The kindness of the owners, the quality of the beds, the wifi, the atmosphere "Route 66" of the hotel, the prices and the cleaness.
Review 87:The area is definitely not a place to linger. Nothing in walkabledistance. Do not enter the Sports Bar (turn left 3 blocks down) unlessat least 40 percent of your visible flesh is tattooed, you like to pay$6 to drink out of a jamjar, and you adore ear-shattering teeth-rattlingdrum n bass noises. For 'Sports Bar' also see "truckdrivers' knocking shop."
Review 88:The r66 artifacts were excellent including the neon sign and theoffice (bring something to put on the wall). Victor is benign andhelpful. Rooms not the cleanest but approximately ok if you just wantbed and wifi.
Review 89:The AC unit was a little noisy for sleeping at night.
Review 90:This motel was easy to find, had everything I needed, including fridge, microwave, strong wireless connection, parking right in front of my unit, extremely helpful and pleasant owners/staff. Also, they had on display some old-timey artifacts from Route 66 early days. And the price was very reasonable!
Review 91:We didn't stay long enough.
Review 92:Location, great owner/manager. It was much better than expected, and although we didn't stay long, just a quick overnight stop, I can recommend this place to you.
Review 93:Scratchy towels and flat pillows.
Review 94:Loved the hotel for its authentic feel and roadside motor lodge setting. Complete with old rusty cars and old items set up like a museum.
Review 95:wifi was pretty slow. bathroom a bit small.
Review 96:loved the historic cars, decor, and welcoming atmosphere. also had the MLB network and we could watch our home town team!
Review 97:The neighborhood is questionable at night but once you get to your room and at the motel you feel safe.
Review 98:The room was clean, quiet and provided everything you need in a room for the night. The staff is very friendly and welcoming.
Review 99:None of our 3 rooms looked anything like the pictures on the website. Obviously just one room dressed for the camera. Tatty old furniture, suspect carpets and small threadbare towels. Not up to standard.
Review 100:It did the job and my bathroom was clean and functional. Mural outside the motel was great.
Review 101:It took a long time to get the room cooled down. Air conditioning is left off until you check in which is understandable, but when it is 109 F after the sun is down, it's a little brutal. The place is very basic, nothing fancy, but a good value for the price. The area is a little questionable, but I wasn't scared. These old Route 66 towns are just kind of like that.
Review 102:This is a fun and interesting place to be. It is very inexpensive and very basic. The owner was helpful with restaurant recommendations. Everything was very clean.
Review 103:Nothing to note. All was as it should be.
Review 104:This is a place for the traveler who wants an authentic experience. The place is quirky...mid-century, loaded with classic autos and road memorabilia from the 40s and 50s. Gracious, welcoming hosts, and located right on old Route 66. Easy to access everything in Barstow and to get onto the interstates when traveling on,
Review 105:Furniture and bedding was a little tired and faded, that said it was all very clean.
Review 106:Very friendly staff. Great value for money. We didn't stop here long but it had Comfortable room, lots of towels for shower, a large fridge.
Review 107:The one thing that could use improvement is the cleanliness of the rooms.
Review 108:We loved the decor and antique cars. This motel was one of the few that has preserved the "past". Owners are very friendly and welcoming! We highly recommend visiting route 66 motel!
Review 109:No breakfast. Small counter area around sink.
Review 110:Friendly staff ready to please. Quirkiness of vintage cars and others stuff outside. Rooms clean though typical old hotel along old highway. Room large enough with frig. Price was good for overnight stay.
Review 111:slow wi-fi
Review 112:historical place
Review 113:Helpful, friendly staff.
Review 114:Owner very engaging. Nice value visit.
Review 115:Charmerende originalt motel, et must for route 66 freaks. Venligt serviceminded perspnale
Review 116:The nostalgia of old Route 66 motel and the owner spending lots of time telling us about it.
Review 117:The hospitality of the owner and the decoration of the site
Review 118:Nothing.
Review 119:Lot of attention was given to decoration. Well kept.
Review 120:Very clean for older style building.
Review 121:Needs updating
Review 122:Location price and memorabilia
Review 123:Very friendly staff.
Review 124:could do with a good clean up
Review 125:the area
