Reviews for Galt House Hotel
Review 1:Our visit on a Sunday afternoon and evening didn't allow us to fully take advantage of what the hotel had to offer. Some of their amentiies aren't open on Sunday. A couple of listings on their beverage menu weren't available.
Review 2:This property is well placed for visiting downtown Louisville and its attractions. The personnel at The Conservatory were very friendly and accommodating. The food we tried in the bar was very good.
Review 3:The room next to us partied like they were rock stars and the first night they knocked on our door several times during traffic of people coming and going !
Review 4:We had a slight problem and the way it was handle was such a comfort !
Review 5:2 of the 3 days there was loud construction early in the morning so we could not sleep past 8am, Heads up for those with diabetes. The ice machine was permanantly broken on our floor, No fridge/cooler, they do not offer an alternate option for medical need (insulin). Due to the broken machine, obtaining and maintaining ice was very difficult.
Review 6:Great location. The hotel is gorgeous and it's mini community is delightful. The booking.com price was excellent.
Review 7:could not adjust the room temperature and crossing over to use the elevator in the other building was a very long wait. When leaving for the evening we tried to use the steps but could only go so far down and still had to wait for the elevators. I felt trapped and could only think of an emergency happening and not being able to exit the hotel.
Review 8:Great location and friendly staff.
Review 9:We had an unrequested wakeup call at 2:30 in the morning. When we told a manager he just stated he was sorry and suggested maybe someone with us had made the request (which was not a possibility). You pay a good price for the room and then have to pay an additional cost to park.
Review 10:Really like the location. Nice Hotel
Review 11:Room for a little warm during the middle of the night and couldn't control the air temp. At least I couldn't figure out how to.
Review 12:Amenities were great, and the bar/bar staff were awesome
Review 13:Paying to use the gym.
Review 14:Location, discounted price made the stay worth its tariff. Would have been disappointed with the stay had I paid standard tariff.
Review 15:I was double charged for a meal which I only noticed because I asked for a copy of my receipt, it was not included in the room on the morning of check out or when I went down to check out. When I called the hotel they sorted it out quickly and easily and reimbursed me for the incorrect charge.
Review 16:After driving into town the property was easy to find with plenty of signage. Parking was simple and the check in might have been the fastest I have ever experienced. I was impressed with the size and grandeur of the hotel as well as the friendliness of the staff. It met all of my expectations and more.
Review 17:Nothing, we had a GREAT stay!
Review 18:We stayed in an executive suite. It was AWESOME. Plenty of space, nice wet bar, very comfortable. Room was very reasonably priced!! Bonus- it was around Christmas so the hotel was decorated VERY nice!!
Review 19:When I arrived they couldn't find my reservations that I had booked through your site-I had booked 4 rooms as I had my entire dental office staff there for our Christmas outing!! Finally they explained that your site was down??? We ended up getting our rooms but it was a very long process. A little disappointed because I had booked the rooms through your site months ago.
Review 20:Close and convenient to the Kentucky Center for the Arts
Review 21:Parking is dark and wet, and there's no real good path to get from your car to the hotel that is lit and clean.
Review 22:Wonderful location for downtown and the Rivue restaraunt was really nice.
Review 23:Rooms need to be upgraded. Bathrooms are run down. I expected nicer rooms for the price and for the upscale atmosphere the rest of the hotel portrays.
Review 24:The number of amenities available.
Review 25:We did not have a bad experience, the only thing I could complain about is that the bed was a little bit hard
Review 26:The location is great, the amenities at the hotel are excellent. Service was great too.
Review 27:We stayed in the Revue Tower. The beds were not very comfortable, and the furniture was old. Leather chair had lots of tears in it where stuffing was showing/coming out. Window sill had a dead fly or two in it, so made me wonder when it was cleaned last. We stayed on 18th floor, and view was good. The restaurant on 25th floor was entirely overpriced for what they served. Spider crawled across my table linens.
Review 28:The furniture was "very tired" and well worn. Very definitely needs to be redone!
Review 29:The view from the room was amazing! The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.
Review 30:we were there on a monday night. very little going on. restaurants closed in hotel, bars empty, consereige recommended hotel restaurant that was closed. in town, found same thing - hard to find an opened restaurant within walking distance.
Review 31:location elegant lobbies, etc.
Review 32:The air conditioner in the room was so loud, I bought earplugs. It was very difficult to stay asleep. The first night we arrived, we ate in the Magnolia Restaurant. The service was really terrible. Our food was cold. The chicken was over done. The carpets in hallways need to be cleaned, are very dirty..
Review 33:Crew at front desk upon check in were wonderful! The view from our room was great. The housekeeping staff were very nice. The bed was comfortable.
Review 34:The sheer size of this hotel, determines what level of personal service you receive.
Review 35:The location was excellent, for accessibility to downtown amenities.
Review 36:When we arrived, the staff at the front desk could not find our reservation that we had made online. We showed them our confirmation number, but they insisted it did not exist. The man was unprofessional throughout the entire ordeal. He was on the phone with a customer service rep at one point and kept making comments to them as if neither of them believed us. It was just an awful first impression of this hotel. We also did not have a fridge in our room, so I was unable to refrigerate my breast milk. I had to keep it on ice.
Review 37:The location was great & only 3 blocks from 4th street live. The room was spacious and the beds were comfortable and clean.
Review 38:In need of some updating, both the rooms and the restaurant. The pool is overlooking the noise freeway. Not really geared for families.
Review 39:The location was great, within walking distance to restaurants, shops, and museums. The hotel is large. With its own shops, restaurants, and lounges.
Review 40:The check in staff ignored my reservation, and did not put my 2 employees into the room I got for them. My employee was treated like a walk-up and charged full price...on his credit card and given an upper floor room. This is not what I reserved for them. Stephanie in accountting resolved it after the fact. I was charged a no-show fee...hah!! No wonder the front desk people...2 of them were not helpful at all expect to say they saw my reservation and kept telling me to call...you!
Review 41:Loved the location. View was awesome. Lot's going on...for a holiday weekend.
Review 42:For a 4-star hotel, even though it is older, it should be a little nicer as far as linens and room features.
Review 43:Great location, great views, great deal on room.
Review 44:I don't like the fact that some type of breakfast isn't offered. Most places do provide something or at least give you a coupon for the restaurant. Only other thing would be an indoor pool or spa.
Review 45:I love the location being in walking distance from all the near by sights. The staff were friendly and helpful. I like the fact that if it rains you can still enjoy yourself without ever leaving the hotel!!!
Review 46:No ice in ice machine on my floor I had to go down two floors to get one that worked. No microwave or refrigerator
Review 47:Location was awesome for the World Fest. Nice close to the Steamboat, Joe's Crab shack. Good location for Muhammad Ali Center louisville slugger museum. Yum center right next door. EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT LOCATION
Review 48:Finding the entrance was a huge headache for us to even get out and park was extremely congested - also there was a line out the door to check in
Review 49:it was very comfortable and very close to downtown - this allowed walking distance to a great deal of restaurants
Review 50:Something was left off of the supplies in my room every day of my stay. I never had a coaster for the entire stay. One day they did not leave any coffee, and another, no tissue.
Review 51:I had a very conveniently located room. With a foot injury that was very important.
Review 52:I LOVED everything about my stay at this hotel. From the boutiques, to the Rivue on the 25th floor with rotating seating and fireworks while I ate. It was absolutely beautiful. The view I had from my room was breathtaking. I came the first day of the World Fest & also had never been here. So I came at a right time and really enjoyed myself. At the end of the night; the bed was so comfortable. The comforter was so fluffy and I fell right asleep.
Review 53:We were not registered when we arrived - although we did book using booking.com. We were accommodated. The refrigerator in the room was not clean. Although the concierge staff was very friendly, they were off on their distances to main attractions which caused us to walk an extra 2 miles with small children. That's really our fault for not doing our research but concierge should know more precise distances to key attractions.
Review 54:The hotel has great views and is in a great location. We had an executive suite, which fit our family of 5 more than adequately. Can't beat the location if you want to explore Louisville. The hotel itself has specific charm - wide hallways and great architecture. Wish we had more time to explore.
Review 55:Beds were not the most comfortable, but ok.
Review 56:Convenient to attractions, airy space in conservatory, great breakfast buffet for $16. Garage parking with in and out privilege
Review 57:Balconies are great but the noise from the highway below negates any pleasure of seating outside and watching the river.
Review 58:Great location, very spacious suites, friendly staff.
Review 59:nothing known...
Review 60:The Hotel was great, the room was large, twice as large as the one in Chicago and for almost half the money. I found that to be of great value to me. The hotel staff were all very helpful and so friendly...all willing to give you and show you history of the city on their own, not with us asking...it was great!
Review 61:How difficult it was to check in. (They could not find my reservation in their computer.) The lack of commodities in my room. (No microwave, No fridge). It was absurd how long it took to get on the elevator. (I waited on an elevator for almost 5 minutes once). Parking was an absolute nightmare. It simply wasn't worth the price.
Review 62:How close it was to 4th street.
Review 63:Room was dirty, outdated, and full of unprofessional repairs. Ordered room service twice because breakfast wasn't included with room, food did not come correctly either time. Aside from check in, staff not helpful or friendly.
Review 64:Bed was comfy, location was ideal to go to convention center.
Review 65:Our room (909) had damage above the window. It looked like the molding was about to fall. The water pressure was bad in the shower. The elevators were extremely slow.
Review 66:I enjoyed the breakfast buffet very much. I liked the parking was so close.
Review 67:Our bathroom was a little dirty and the free wifi didn't work at all.
Review 68:The staff was very friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. Lots of access to the city.
Review 69:The concierge was not helpful with obtaining a carriage ride. There were fingerprints all over the windows looking out to the river, and the furniture was very dated (1970's)and needed to be replaced. The shower in the room above us leaked into our bathroom. No ice in the hall machine, and soda machine broken on our floor.
Review 70:The location was wonderful, with beautiful views of the Ohio River
Review 71:Room had an odor and looked like it had seen better days.
Review 72:The common areas are very nice. Could not get a table at the Rivue Restaurant and the Cafe was so-so. The staff was great.
Review 73:Staff prompt service was not good at all. I travel all the time and usually stay at this location. But I can promise you I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN.
Review 74:Location
Review 75:Suite was dated, not in the best shape. Suite was not cleaned properly after our first night's stay. We thought it was slightly overpriced.
Review 76:...loved the bridge lounge between buildings, and raved about "360" fitness. Suite was cleaned properly after our second night. Breakfast buffet was killer...
Review 77:To warm air condition is needed. Elevators to full of people have to wait to long to get to our floor and the elevators are hot they have no air.
Review 78:The view
Review 79:Our furniture was very worn with an obvious rip visible in a seating chair in the room. Looked very bad.
Review 80:the location was fabulous, right on the river. Lobby is very grand.
Review 81:The size of the suite is nice, room had everything we needed except a microwave. Plenty of parking and restaurants on site, convenient to everything downtown. Would recommend spending the extra $10 for valet parking.
Review 82:Large hotel with too much activity going on; dated decor; $14 buffet breakfast advertised on web was actually $15.95 and was a disappointment as not worth the price.
Review 83:Large hotel that required a check- in a building not the one where my room would be, so was confusing. Was told I was a 'third party' guest and my room was across the road; room clean and bath room appeared recently updated.
Review 84:great view of the river and downtown. Really cool atrium area with an aquarium built-in to the bar. great fitness facility with glass walls overlooking Louisville. Fun glass elevators for the kids on one side of the building.
Review 85:Bad room service, slow and order was wrong, no payperview, no guide for tv, nothing special. go to the galt house if you arent spending time in the room, the room itself is nothing special.
Review 86:Nice staff, nice rooms, nothing overwhelming though
Review 87:Room was a little dusty, look like it wasn't dusted in a while. Refrigerator kept fallen out of space when opening. I understand its an older hotel.
Review 88:The View was nice and the staff was friendly. Location was nice lot of activity around, very nice stay.
Review 89:Burnt out light in entry way of hotel room. No refrigerator. Always had to wait way too long for the elevator. Breakfast buffet was overpriced & the food was good.
Review 90:Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Loved the entire atmosphere of this old hotel. Good location in walking distance to downtown restaurants.
Review 91:We got to check-in early, and even got upgraded. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very clean. Beautiful place to stay, and close to so much! I'm looking forward to going back!
Review 92:Our suite as a river view faced the other tower rather than full on view of river. Beds were not very comfortable. Windows were foggy due to room being a bit drafty. Did not want to pay for a one time gym use but it had a wonderful view.
Review 93:Fantastic decor for the holidays and large size suites
Review 94:The fact that you cannot check in at both of the buildings. A good computer system and trained employees would take care of this. Also, a diagram of the location of the Christmas events would have been helpful.
Review 95:I like the location of the hotel. I loved the Christmas theme for families.
Review 96:The sheets felt like plastic and sadly due to a four weddings being held in the hotel on Saturday we had no peace and quiet for our one year old to get a good night's rest. It was noisy on every level.
Review 97:It was a really cool hotel with a great location within Louisville.
Review 98:The bedroom smelled like cigarrette smoke.
Review 99:Location is excellent if you wish to go to museums and main attractions. If the guest wants to know the old town, it should walk around 40 minutes towards south (which is still good).
Review 100:The room had a musty smell and I woke in the middle of the night with a dry cough
Review 101:The view and location were excellent. The staff was helpful and friendly.
Review 102:The Galt House doesn't include free internet or parking. You have to pay to work out at the onsite gym. The cost for those amenities adds up fast and should be included in the cost of the room. There were just a lot of little things that other hotels have that the Galt House didn't have. They give you the bare minimum of toiletries and other items in the rooms. No one was around to help us with our bags. We asked for other things to be brought to our room and they never arrived. It just sort of felt like we were given a room and then were on our own. You expect a bit better service and amenities at a hotel in this price range. Also, the hotel is just so busy that it felt like I was in grand central station rather than a hotel.
Review 103:Room was clean, nicely decorated. Linens were nice, pillows were fluffy.
Review 104:Impersonal, indifferent but nice, loud old air conditioning in the room that rumbles when it comes on, bare minimum in the room-no bottled water for sale, no tissues, seemed like I was there on the "off Churchill Downs-season" so they were cutting back or something. Bartender in bar/restaurant put one hand in the bar snack bucket at the end of the bar to fill the customers free snack bowl, and the other hand-full in his mouth. The cigarette smoke smell in the elevator was terrible. From the outside, the hotel is so lovely and you expect a kind of "sexy" experience, but it is far from sexy.
Review 105:Views, tradition, location. The bed was comfortable, the rooms are a good size, bathrooms are good, and the cleaning staff was so helpful and polite.
Review 106:The tissues were quite rough. There were no shower caps - people especially women need shower caps.
Review 107:It was quiet. Beds were very comfortable. Breakfast place was good. Ability to self-park and pay less was good. Unlimited in and out was very good.
Review 108:Paid for parking when we checked in, had to pay again to leave the parking lot. The online description of the room said a full kitchen and a washer/dryer. The rooms had neither.
Review 109:Great location
Review 110:Our room had not been properly cleaned while we were out sightseeing. When we got back late that day we found a message on the room phone informing us someone had been smoking in our room and we were being charged an additional fee of $200. Yes we had smokers in our party but they went outside every time. The only thing we could think of was that the smoke was on their clothes and brought back into the room with them. On checkout we talked to management and got the charge removed. We also found personal items from previous guests in the room.
Review 111:Being able to spend time in my old hometown with my friends.
Review 112:We arrived to our hotel room to find black hair on the bathroom floor, the entry way carpet was wet and the hallway floor was staturated. When you'd walk in the hallway it was so wet it would splash. When I told the hotel staff about our concerns they informed us that they're sorry but didn't even give us eye contact. Very disappointed.
Review 113:Location.
Review 114:I believe the wireless internet should be free.
Review 115:I loved the hospitality and cleanliness. The hotel is an excellent place to stay and I will definitely recommend it.
Review 116:The staff was not very nice. Also the iron man competition was going on and we had to park 3 blocks away and walk back to the hotel. A warning would have been nice.
Review 117:Very clean.
Review 118:I couldn't get a river-view room, so they recommended a room with a view of the city ... I got a room with a view of an empty parking lot and no view of the city. A vending room in the hall took up a large chunk of my room and made a hell of a noise. When I told them of the issues, they didn't care. The refrigerator didn't keep anything cold. Then when I checked out, they charged me for the 5 days of my stay ($1,500), even though they'd already charged my credit card for the 1st night when I booked the room. They told me that the "hold" charge was not on their records. 10 days later, I called them and they now admitted that they had made a mistake and would credit my account ... but when they did a few days later, it wasn't even for the amount they had overcharged me!!
Review 119:I didn't like that the hotel was really dated. The furniture is old but seemed clean. The hotel seems well past it's prime everywhere we went.
Review 120:I liked the spacious suite and the food is very good. There is on site garage parking and friendly staff to help.
Review 121:for the money we paid for the room, there was nothing great about it. could hear doors slamming all night, people talking in the hall way. ask for a king size bed when booking room. got two double beds. will not be staying there again.soiled carpet and outdated
Review 122:Location was great, view was great.
Review 123:The room was tried and in néed of updates. The phone didn't work for room service, valet, or front desk. I used my cell phone to make necessary phone calls. If they are not going to update reduce the price of the rooms.
Review 124:The staff was great as was the location!
Review 125:great location, skywalk to yum center and convention center, close to Louisville Slugger factory lots of amenities, varitey of in hotel dining options, very comfortable and clean
Review 126:Outstanding service, the staff went out of their way to help with everything we requested. Excellent location, lots of parking and free unlimited wifi. We had a suite which was large and well placed in the hotel too.
Review 127:When we first walked into our room, I had expected it to be prettier. The room seemed slightly outdated. However, when we walked out of our room, everything else in this hotel and the location made up for it.
Review 128:The location of this hotel is perfect. We took the free shuttle down to Fourth Street Live, not knowing how close or far it was. The walk back was a piece of cake. The hotel is on the river walk path, which was amazing. The inside of the hotel was incredible, from the aquarium bar, to the restaurants, and everything in between. Would definitely recommend this place.
Review 129:The one complaint that I had was the front of house person we were dealing with at check in, she was surly and abrupt and barley raised her head from what she was doing in order to deal with us, thankfully the rest of the staff that we encountered during our stay were very pleasant and helpful, would suggest that hotel management address this issue as it is very off putting behaviour for guests on their arrival
Review 130:Hotel was very clean and close to all attractions. Room very spacious and we had a fantastic view of the river I would highly recommend this hotel
Review 131:The grill/bar at the outdoor pool needed more staffing. The poor bartender was left by himself to take orders, make drinks, take money and grill the food. When he ran out of burgers he had to walk inside to ask someone to bring out more. Also the guests in one of the suite rooms checked out late so we couldn't get into our room until late. The check in line was rapped around the lobby because of a concert that was in town so we had to walk across the street to the other front desk to get our room keys. It would have been nice if both front desks could have open for check in to help with the line. Also one of the couches smelled like vomit and the air took a while to cool the room down.
Review 132:The front desk did a great job with customer service. I booked two suites a third party website and the parking had went up yet the website I booked through listed the cheaper price. The lady that checked me in was nice enough to give me the rate at the cheaper price. The staff was very very nice and helpful. Hotel was clean and close to 4th street live. The bellhops were great as well.
Review 133:When we arrived at the hotel the day of the Katy Perry concert (which they should have anticipated), we had to wait in line for almost an hour to check-in because they only had 2 front desk staff working. It was unclear where to park, the elevators took a very long time, and it was hard to find the stairs. There was no in-room literature to help you get information about the hotel, such as how to get to the connecting sky bridge, and the check-out via TV remote that was advertised on a placard in the room didn't work.
Review 134:I liked that it was attached to the Yum Center. It was raining before the Katy Perry concert, and we were able to walk from our room to the Yum Center without getting wet. The room was nice enough and the hotel in general was very pretty.
Review 135:-- Bed size (Felt like it was full size, I would have preferred Queen size) -- Microwave would have been excellent addition to the room
Review 136:-- Room Location (Thanks to front desk lady for this) -- Room Interior space -- Two huge hotel buildings with beautiful connecting lobby -- Proximity to 4th street live & river walk
Review 137:Pool right next to interstate. Too noisy to relax/enjoy.
Review 138:The view. Stayed on 24th floor with river view. The location. Walked to all downtown attractions. Parking was easy. Spa.
Review 139:Hotel lost reservations, said reservations from booking.com come via fax. Looked into my booking.com confirmation email and both invoices from hotel. Whoever from the hotel entered my check in and out dates put the wrong month, the email I received from booking.com had correct dates. Check in line was very long waited over 40 minutes to check in.
Review 140:Staff was excellent, helped tremendously with my bad experience of our hotel reservations being lost. Hotel is a very nice quality. Roof top pool is very nice. This hotel was more that I expected and would highly recommend it.
Review 141:nothing- it was perfect
Review 142:Super cool architecture and beautifully maintained, great restaurants, beautiful view and great location, great staff, absolutely spotless, great activities within walking distance, unbelievable value
