Reviews for Breakers Motel
Review 1:Booked 2 rooms, 1 of the party in the 2nd room became ill and couldn't show, hotel forced me to pay for the empty room even though it remained empty! Not happy.
Review 2:The veiw
Review 3:We ran out of toilet paper there was a partial roll in the bathroom and no extra roll in the room it was inconvenient.
Review 4:The room was nice and comfortable the Jacuzzi was very nice and clean.
Review 5:They say they offered breakfast....a tray of bread and empty coffee, I thought they were joking. However Dolly's Donuts wasn't to far and was amazing
Review 6:Location was wonderful and despite the decor the beds were very comfortable
Review 7:Location is perfect. The staff were friendly and the view from our room couldn't be beat. We love to stay here on our visits to Morro Bay. Third floor rooms are the best. A fireplace and gorgeous view.
Review 8:It's s bid tired looking in the rooms. The towels definitely need replacing. Threadbare
Review 9:the location and view to the rock and ocean. Close to good restaurants. Friendly staff
Review 10:The bed spread smelled like old grease and the towels are very rough.
Review 11:This is a retro style motel. The staff is very friendly and they give great costumer service. the motel is in a great location near shops and several eateries.
Review 12:Called front desk and no one answered at 10pm. Looking for name of pizza place down the street.
Review 13:Location was good, walking distance to all shops and restaurants. Room was clean.
Review 14:Stayed in a room that we didn't even know existed. Light from street poured into room all night. Room right across from restaurant/bar that emptied glass bottles into trash well into the night. Room not clean. Bed was short sheeted. Room smelled strange.
Review 15:Hotel owner cancelled free breakfast option few weeks ago even for old booking.com reservations, where it was present (staff were surprised to see mine "with breakfast"). Not a big deal (we all know, how "rich" hotel breakfasts in US are :)), but received no excuses from the owner, which is weird.
Review 16:Quiet room with all needed. Helpfull staff. Good location, right on the shore with nice coffee bars and restaurants. Parking, outdoor pool and hot jacuzzi.
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:The check-in staff was friendly and helpful. Got a big clean room with a little bit old but comfy bed. Bathroom was also clean. They serve free coffee at the office in the morning. It's good located, only just a 2 minutes walk to the bay, shops and restaurants. We ate at Thai Bounty, that was delicious You can here sea lions at night :)
Review 19:No elevator, difficult stairs to climb, the rise in the steps too high.
Review 20:Stayed on the top floor, loved the view. Rooms are laid out nice with a separate sink away from the bathroom. The bed is very comfortable. Walking distance to just about away where you would like to go. Front desk staff very nice.
Review 21:The facilities are obviously in need of updating and repair. Just a few spots on the furniture and rug. Window air conditioner plastic parts broken. With the fireplace being real and not gas, there is somewhat of a leftover odor of ash but all else is very clean.
Review 22:The staff was very helpful and I felt safe. The sounds at night...barking seals and a far off fog horn. Very quiet and relaxing. The BEST views of the bay and rock.
Review 23:1) When we booked this, it comes with free Continental Breakfast but Breakers Motel stopped serving breaking since September. Their complimentary coffee sucks too. They owe us a cut of the rate we paid!2) The facility is super old and in need of intense upgrade - beddings, curtains, appliances, furniture, bathroom, carpet & AC. The room was not vacuumed properly when we arrived, there were food crumbs on the floor and under the beds. 3) The Jaccuzi is out of order and had been out of order for a long time. The pool looks dirty & cloudy too...so we decided not to take a dip. 4) They won't take Amex for payment too and when we asked the reception why, she said her boss just said so and can't really explain to us why.
Review 24:It's all about the location. We booked Ocean View Rooms to have adirect view of the famous Morro Bay Rock and that's about it...thefacility & service just suck.
Review 25:Would not suit someone with disabilities.
Review 26:Great views from our superior double with sea view. Great location. Close to bars and restaurants on the waterfront. Morro Bay is lovely.
Review 27:Motel charged $22.00 more than guaranteed rate which already included a $5/day service fee. We stayed 3 nights. No reason for the increase per the manager but he did refund $17 of the original $22 overcharge.
Review 28:Location.
Review 29:The air conditioning didn't work. No screen on the door, cats trying to get into our room.
Review 30:Staff tried very hard to deal with the issues with the room.
Review 31:When I made the reservation it had promised free continental breakfast. When we arrived we were told they no longer offered breakfast. Also, I was looking forward to the jacuzzi and it was down for maintence the whole weekend so we couldn't use it. The pool was open and the kids enjoyed it, but the water was too cold for me.
Review 32:I love the location. Great spot, right near the trolley stop and downtown. The pool was nice and the view was awesome.
Review 33:Noticed in my room that the fan blade were extremely dusty. Upon my departure I left a note for housekeeping. Hopefully it was corrected.
Review 34:This is where I've always stayed when I've visited Morro Bay and will continue to do so.
Review 35:Property needs maintenance and repair. Towels were rough like scrub cloths. Breakfast is celofane packages of sweet rolls and muffins, apples, juice and coffee. Coffee maker in room was dirty and the water tasted terrible.
Review 36:Location is great and the beds are super. Coffee in office tasted good.
Review 37:Listening to the unprofessional staff's manner of handling a customer's cancelled reservation and threatening her with a call to police if she didn't leave. Apparently, her reservation was cancelled by some unknown person. However, staff could not provide the customer with any cancellation information/documentation. The customer was in tears. No rooms were available in Morro Bay on 12th Sept due to the festival. Recommendation: Staff training in customer service.
Review 38:This is an excellent value motel in a convenient location to the shops and restaurants of Morro Bay. The room was clean and everything worked. I was on the 2nd floor which gave me a great view of Morro Bay and "the Rock".
Review 39:Breakfast is not much, but at least they have a complementary breakfast :)
Review 40:Great location, comfortable room, real close to the waterfront. Cute, relaxed, small town.
Review 41:Shower floor dirty, coffeemaker dirty (boil a little vinegar at least once a month will clean pot and outside of maker. Refrig, freezer needed defrosting and inside wiped down with baking soda to keep fresh. Room musty, air out and spray drapes & furniture with fabreeze and have cleaned 2 or three time a year.
Review 42:The location, excellent ocean view.
Review 43:The palm tree behind the office obscured the view of the rock from our room (209). Two queen beds squeezed into that room was ridiculous. Had to crawl into the bed and out because there was no walk room next to the wall. Not enough shelving or towel racks in bathroom. No air conditioning made it uncomfortable at night because the room didn't cool down till later in the early morning. No hot water on second morning. Cable was intermittent. Not enough hangers for clothes. Not enough lighting in room. Hard to see distinguish clothing colors in the drawers. Will definitely not return.
Review 44:Liked the location, close to the main shopping district and the beach.
Review 45:The shower was small. The continental breakfast didn't seem continental missing the waffles. When I booked hotel it seemed like I got about a $102 dollar more charge on my bill. I think I always need to double check because I was charged more
Review 46:The location.
Review 47:This place is in need of a despert update. I understand it sold last winter and there are plans to update. But you don't raise the nightly rate $100.00 and set out toast sweet rolls, juice, and nasty coffe and expect people to give you and excellent rating.
Review 48:We love to get away at the rock, love to walk the beach, maybe fish, just relax around the pool
Review 49:Only entrance is patio door - screen door would be nice, security bar missing from our door, as was sheer curtain. Room was clean with one exception - the air vent in the wall and the window A/C unit were filthy. This should be included in standard housekeeping duties. Otherwise, the room was great. Also the hot tub by the pool was not operational
Review 50:Old, retro style motor inn; great location and view of the bay from upper floors; fireplace in room.
Review 51:spa was non-operational, pool freezing. if we had known, we would have stayed else where. smokers everywhere.
Review 52:great location. walked right to shops, beach.
Review 53:The worst breakfast I have ever had in a hotel. It is incredible thatthey mention in their web page that they offer breakfast.., Quite a lackof respect to their customers. The space if 2 sq metres, beside thefront desk, standing up and almost with no choice at all. There ishardly anything but buns and coffee.
Review 54:Very close to restaurants, shops and the sea.
Review 55:Bed was horrible especially after traveling. Thank you for moving us to a room with a newer bed.
Review 56:View of Morro Bay is great! It is nice having the porch with seating to enjoy the view. Also, close to Embarcadero for strolling and shopping.
Review 57:Needs a lot of deferred maintainance. For a live on groundskeeper, this is more disappointing. Front door stuck, top fell off faucet, tack-board falling away from sink, backachr from mattress, jets not working in jacuzzi, many pieces of tile falling/fell off jacuzzi. With a three weeks advance reservation, they could not give me a second story room as requested. Noise problems from above 3 or the 4 nights I stayed. Housekeeping did not replace enough towels or toiletries.
Review 58:Location is the best.
Review 59:Arrived about 9.30, we had already been charged for our room, although I had rung to say we were on the way.
Review 60:Great location in a not overexposed town on the water. A walk across the road to a coffee shop and the seals.
Review 61:The water faucets with both shower and sink didn't work well. Could not get shower turned on at all. Uncomfortable bed, broken light over kitchenette area, way, way, way overpriced for the value. I would not return.
Review 62:bathroom walls were splattered with something. continental breakfast was rather euphemistic. bread, apples and those really cheap vacuum wrapped blue berry muffins. no milk, cream, etc..for really bitter coffee. however easy enough to walk a block for great coffee, tea and breakfast if you want
Review 63:location is perfect to walk to downtown and embarcadero. has a pool and jacuzzi.
Review 64:Door to our room did not lock . After the manager completely removed the door, we had to wait three hours for a lock smith to show! Staff was very unaccomdating, rude and refused to move us to another room!! Next morning, we were told there was a continental breakfast!! What a joke!! Not even a lousy cup of coffee was available!!!
Review 65:The bed was horribly uncomfortable and the AC barely worked. The Jacuzzi tub was not working and that was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel.
Review 66:The view was absolutely stunning!
Review 67:Would not Honor AAA discount at the time of check in, They said no pets are allowed but some brought their dog, no Minors allowed on the 3rd floor but my neighbor had 4. At check in they tried to add more fees but I fought that.SPA was broken and found out that its been a problem we were looking forward to using it.I feel they were not ready to accept guests on a 4th of July weekend with increased pricing.
Review 68:Good Location
Review 69:Tired old motel...no elevator, tiny shower could barely move in it, notub, old sinks, tacky decor, old small wall heater, window and glasssliding door faced the Bay with a great view, but no privacy becausethey were on the common walkway... Not worth the $150 it cost.
Review 70:The manager was very sweet and helpful.
Review 71:Our classic car lost its brakes on HIghway 1 on the Big Sur on oujr wayto MOrrow Bayt, and we ahd to be towed back to Monterrey to spend 4 dayswaiting for parts. We called the Breakers as soon as we discovered thebrakes were gone, but made no difference. They charged us the full priceof the room regardless of our situation. Some kind of fee I could see,but this was a lot of money out the window for nothing.
Review 72:Good, central location. CAn't say anything else good or bad aboutthe motel property, as we never got a chance to stay there.
Review 73:this motel is old and outdated. if you are expecting quaint you will not be disappointed but if your expectations are for quaint but some amenities and upgrades get ready for a disappointment.
Review 74:location and staff were very nice and helpful
Review 75:The gentleman who checked us in was so nice! We had a perfect room with a view of the ocean and the Rock. It's 1 street over from the main street with restaurants, music, fresh seafood. All around great place!
Review 76:The too could have been cleaner, musty smell. Linens were old and very outdated. It was the only place available for a wedding we were attending. Amazing view so for the price I really can't complain.
Review 77:Loved the location. Walking distance to everything. The staff is friendly.
Review 78:The beds were horrible. I should have complained, but just toughed it out for the three nights we were there. However, at check out, we were informed that they are in the process of putting new beds throughout. We were also very disappointed that the Hot Tub was not working and the pool was not heated. Other than this...we were very happy with our stay.
Review 79:The staff, the location, the view were GREAT. I have stayed before and will stay again.
Review 80:- ocean view was perfect - nice beds - soundproof room; there was little kids next to the my room. one of the baby cried all night but I couldn't here much. loved it :) I heard cried sound when I woke up because of morning call, but it was very small sound. - wifi works well but not fast
Review 81:nothing, i'll be back.........
Review 82:Walking distance to the wharf, arrived at dusk, after putting are luggage in the room we walked down to the Fisherman's wharf, it was beautiful, spent 30 to 60 min watching the lights and seals, otters in the bay at night.
Review 83:The staff didn't tell me the closest gate of Yosimite is closed. He should understand my purpose of my trip here is to visit Yosimite. Instead he told me the gate is open.
Review 84:Check the faucets in the bathroom. Ours didn't work properly. Empty tissue boxes.
Review 85:The location is ideal and it is convenient to places we want to visit. We would return for another visit.
Review 86:Need to boost your wifi. Provide plastic liners in the ice bucket.
Review 87:So am I. Nice enough for the weekend. Very close to everything. Clean and comfortable, that's what we wanted. Dillon is a very pleasant manager, appreciated that.
Review 88:The whole experience. Was by far the worst motel I stayed in and overpriced.
Review 89:not much. Decor was poor and tatty. No one was there when we arrived. We had paid extra for a sea view of the rock but our windows looked right out onto staircase. Pool was okay but dirty. Hot tub okay. . Breakfast was terrible- a few slices of bread to make toast.
Review 90:no privacy curtains, curtains would not close all the way, light bulb burned out and room smelled like a former smoker room, terrible when closed up, needs refreshing, carper and curtains cleaned or changed
Review 91:location and view
Review 92:As expected, "Continental Breakfast" is minimal
Review 93:Location Location Location Across the street from 3 restaurants 1 Block from the main street You can't stay much closer to the Rock
Review 94:Older hotel that is in need of updates. "Free" breakfast is a joke. Just coffee, mini rolls and toast. No water or juice offered.
Review 95:Central location is best attribute of the hotel. Reasonably clean.
Review 96:Looked like it hasn't been remodeled since the 80s. Price online including their fee was 125, still charged me 131 per night
Review 97:Staff was friendly. Location great.
Review 98:Very few healthy options for continental breakfast. When we stay here, we eat in our room or at a cafe.
Review 99:Comfy bed, excellent location for walking everyehere, friendly staff.
Review 100:The bed (king) wasn't awful, but needs to be replaced. No big deal though.
Review 101:Loved the room, it was very clean, and the view was amazing! The staff was friendly and helpful. We left an expensive leather jacket accidentally, and they called us right away to let us know!
Review 102:Beds were very firm and uncomfortable. Older room decor in need of updating and an overhaul.
Review 103:Motel staff with great attitude in accomodating our late arrival. Motel locatred a block from the embarcadero.
Review 104:Love stating here but this time stayed on ground level had very noisy upstairs neighbors, could hear talking and lots of foot traffic until early hours of the morning.
Review 105:Walking distance to watch boats and water. The rooms very clean and confortable.
Review 106:The shower spray only hit in the corner of the small shower and could not be adjusted. It was impossible to rinse off below chest area.
Review 107:The hot tub was great, but hours of use could be open longer.
Review 108:The shower was a little on the small side....but other than that, wehave no complaints
Review 109:So peaceful and quiet....the room was nice...we liked the wood ceilingof our King room (2nd floor) and the ceiling fan. Bed was comfy....andwe had a view of Morro Rock and could see the breakers (of course!) Easywalk down to the Embarcadero for a sunset dinner. Off season price wegot on Booking.com was amazing! We enjoy staying at The Breakers Motel
Review 110:I didn't like how the shower didn't have a tub to catch the water. So it got pretty wet inside my bathroom. And the room was pretty cold at night.
Review 111:I liked that it was in walking distance from everything in morro bay. The staff was really friendly.
Review 112:The bed was too firm, pillows to thin. Internet was good, but slow at times, but met my needs for Internet service
Review 113:Great view of Morro Rock!! The room was spacious and comfortable. Overall my stay was good
Review 114:Horrible hard beds The room is like being in a fishbowl- the walkway passes in front of the room which is all glass sliding door wall, that may or may not have a view. Makes one want to keep the curtains closed, but it's the only way to get natural light. When on the ground floor, your staring at the front and headlights of cars, blocking any view available. We were penalized and had to stay on ground level, because we only stayed one night. It's location is it's best asset, but the beds will keep me away again
Review 115:Location- size of room was nice
Review 116:There was mold and spiderwebs in the window and a washrag under the bed. The chairs in the room should either be replaced or reupholstered. There was no foam left in the seats. Interior is outdated.
Review 117:Great location
Review 118:Bed was extremely old, linens ere from deceased people at nursing homes because their names were written in ink on the pillow cases, room was from the 60's or 70's and in desperate need of an upgrade. Pool had no water in it and hot tub was packed full of chemicals.
Review 119:nothing - all good
Review 120:A very welcoming establishment after driving in heavy rain. Good location and nice size rooms. Close to good restaurants with great food.
Review 121:Beds were a little hard for my liking but overall the room was nice.
Review 122:Execelent location. Short walk down to the embarcadero. Dorn's resturant across the street has great food. Friendly staff.
Review 123:the parking was to tight. There was a large chair, that resembled a recliner. you had to be very very careful when you sat in it, or you would hurt yourself!!
Review 124:I liked the fact, that it was close to every thing! Most important, the staff was very kind!
Review 125:Breakfast was minimal. The bed linen needs refreshing, there were holes in the rug and cigarette burns in the quilt which was very old. Generally the place is run down and needs updating.
Review 126:Unfortunately, so the room was very clean and the bed alright, the walls were paper thin. We heard everything. someone was snoring most of the night very loudly through one of the rooms. Above us the people kept making sounds and I think somebody fell out of bed at night. in the other room the tv went on and on. In short we didn't sleep hardly at all. It didn't make for a very good day dragging around really tired. Would not come back.
Review 127:We came to this hotel because of a discount on the price. We also wanted a view of Morro Bay rock and an opportunity to use the pool and jacuzzi. All of that was the best part of coming here
Review 128:Great location, friendly staff. Wished we could have stayed another night. We had already planned our trip and only booked 1 night stopover, but the town and area was really pretty and we could easily have stayed another day/night. Good choice of bars/restaurants. Didn't stay for breakfast as we had a fair way to travel the next day.
Review 129:Breakfast was "toast"!
Review 130:Location to restaurants, the bay, shopping. The parking was good but needed a couple more handicapped spaces. Good value for the price. Will definitely stay there again.
Review 131:I went last weekend with my aunt and brother. Such a wonderful motel! It's so close to the beach and the views from the balcony are spectacular. The man at the desk, Dillon, was very helpful. I highly recommend this motel. Well worth your time and money.
Review 132:- Super thin walls - I could hear everything (and I mean everything) everyone was doing in all the rooms around me at all hours. Middle of the night, 5am, etc. This place has great bang for the buck, but next time I'll bring ear plugs.- Poor lighting in the rooms (if you have the curtains closed) - No "sheer" layer of curtains -- I wish there were a thin layer of curtains under the heavy curtains like you see at other motels. As it was, if the heavy curtains were closed, it was SO dark in the room, even with all the lights on, but if I left the curtains open, everyone walking by can just look in my room and see all my stuff and everything I'm doing right through the big windows. If there were also a layer of sheer curtains, I could both enjoy the sunlight, and maintain a bit of privacy.
Review 133:- Office/Lobby staff was very friendly- Nice view from the second floor - you can see Morro Rock and the bay from the window or just standing outside the door, which was great. - Excellent location - 2 mins walking distance from the main drag - Nice rooms, for the money - Clean - Parking was easy - Free Wi-Fi offered (though it was reeeeally slow)
Review 134:We booked deluxe room with view of Morro Rock but were put in room on ground floor over looking car park. Decor old fashioned & in need of modernisation and felt grubby. Towels worn and old. Whole place needs upgrading/ Refurb.
Review 135:Location
Review 136:The mattresses are hard! My husband and I both like a softer mattress but really it's the only complaint we have.
Review 137:We love the friendly staff! Rooms are clean with lots of floor space. One block from the waterfront with a view of the Bay.
