Reviews for The Liwan Hotel

Review 1:Sutures of the tiles in the bathroom had changed colur (to yellow). Kettle worked only once at the beginning than get out of order. There are very few plugs in the room The pillows were uncomfortable (no spare ones) NB: Due to our short stay we did not ask for improvement

Review 2:At the heart of the city. Beautiful hotel Dinner in front of the chimney at the restaurant

Review 3:The staff was so friendly and helpful, they always had a smile on their face and were extremely polite. The breakfast buffet was also quite amazing! The location of the hotel is perfect and allowed for easy circulation around the town.

Review 4:This modern hotel is situated in a stone building approximately 125-150 years old, giving it an "old world" feel with contemporary conveniences. The staff was superb: helpful, courteous and friendly. They also made sure we were connected to the right transportation into Iskenderun. The included breakfast was outstanding. We wold certainly stay here again!

Review 5:This antique building is one of the few left in Antakya that is properly renovated. Located in the small but vibrant old city area east of the river, the hotel is a gem and should be top choice for Antakya trips.

Review 6:Neighbours, music so loud, like inside of the bedroom, until 02.00 in the morning, so annoying, couldn't sleep. (Komşu bar'dan gelen müzik korkunç bir şekilde sabah 02'ye kadar devam etti )

Review 7:Staff is great, building is great, location is great

Review 8:We were in the back and there was some noise from the bar downstairs. I wish there was a chair on the balcony.

Review 9:Location in the center of town and a car park attendant to find parking for you. The open buffet breakfast had a lot of choices.

Review 10:The huge construction site in front of the building with noise from 7:30 am until midnight sometimes later is really a negative point for such a comfortable hotel. We should be advised at booking of such an inconvenience. I had to leave after nite...and I really wanted to stay and enjoy the other pluses! Also on weekends, there is noise from the hotel bar and the bar next door that overflowed into the street in the middle of the nite...and sigh, I was staying in the best room.

Review 11:Room, breakfast, staff and location are perfect.

Review 12:Totally awesome boutique hotel with elegant historical decor at down to earth prices. We were totally surprised by this hotel which actually was a lot more elegant than the photos depict. Great traditional Turkish buffet breakfast, and a great three course evening meal if you choose the half board. We stayed an extra night.

Review 13:No good coffee available, instant only.

Review 14:The décor, the friendly staff, the location, the breakfast, proximity to great restaurants

Review 15:noise all night (water pump or something, I couldn't sleep at all)

Review 16:the smile and warm welcome of the staff

Review 17:better than anything else in Hatay

Review 18:Staying in a historical yet comfortable place. Breakfast was very nice including local tastes. Very close to nearby cafes to hang out at night.

Review 19:You can not sleep bcs of the crazy loud music outside.

Review 20:Lovely staff, nice location and amazing facility

Review 21:1. the staff is attentive to our needs with professional attitude 2. character/soul of the hotel 3. exceptional location in the old town

Review 22:Location

Review 23:Outstanding service. Great location. Beautiful building. Great value for money, for the British purchase power. But it was in low season.

Review 24:Kind and extremely helpful staff, great rooms, nice breakfast, perfect location, and solid wi-fi. What's not to like?

Review 25:The AC does not work sometimes Breakfast could be better

Review 26:Value for money good location

Review 27:Hard to park nearby

Review 28:Great staff in beautiful Joel in nice location

Review 29:Easy access to centre of town. Valet parking

Review 30:I chose the hotel because of the location and the picture of the patio. However when I went there the patio( or liwan) was disappointing, no green, no water fountain, worse they have painted it maroon red with golden accessories, which in my opinion is not suitable for a liwan, it made it gloomy.

Review 31:staff very friendly and helpful location excellent

Review 32:The breakfast could be a little richer, also, some of the other rooms we saw were smaller/had no balcony or the window opened to the hotel's restaurant, which seemed awkward.

Review 33:Our room was excellent, and it also had a really nice balcony. The view wasn't great but the location was perfect. Overall would definitely recommend it for the very authentic atmosphere and very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 34:Noisy bar at the ground floor. The party ends at 2.00 after midnight and this old building is definitely not sound proof. Narrow street with no private parking space.

Review 35:Absolutely the old historical building itself. Kind and helpful stuff. Rich and nice breakfast. Small goodbye gift.

Review 36:If you want a good night's sleep DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE get one of rooms overlooking the inner courtyard. It is a restaurant where they hold special events at night. On both nights very loud music from an engagement party the one time and some other event the other night was boomed into my room until the wee hours of the morning. When the party finally finished the walls began to reverberate from the disco located in the basement below the courtyard restaurant. Those heavy beats traveled right up those old stone walls and to my room on the third floor until about 3 A.M.--and are the reason I rated "comfort" and "value for money" as "poor". Much as I liked everything else about the Liwan, I will never stay at there again. A pity...

Review 37:Great location, great breakfast, real character.

Review 38:My room was right next to the breakfast room. I woke up at 5am to the staff fixing the tables.

Review 39:Beautiful building. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.

Review 40:The room overlooked the courtyard and was a little noisy.

Review 41:Beautiful hotel with excellent amenities. The staff exceeded my expectations and went to many lengths to ensure a great stay. The free breakfast buffet was incredibly good.

Review 42:tours are very expensive as well as the airport-transfer at the moment, it seems like there are only journalists who use the hotel for their trip to Syria. So not really a holiday-atmosphere I had a room on the first floor. Unfortunately there is a disco downstairs and some young locals like to watch soccer first and then somebody downstairs turns on the techno-music.

Review 43:good location people at the reception speak English and in general, staff is very nice. breakfast is really good although they overcharged me by mistake it was no problem to correct the invoice

Review 44:The staff made the stay a lot more enjoyable, they were super friendly and hospitable. The hotel was amazing and I'm feeling nostalgic already at the reminder of it.

Review 45:The room was not very well soundproofed, but obviously the level of noise depends on the other guests.

Review 46:The building is very nice and the restaurant is very picturesque. The breakfast was very rich. The staff was very welcoming and hospitable.

Review 47:Liwan hotel is a beautiful old building, very comfortable and intimate. The staff is very friendly and english speaking. Rooms are big and clean, breakfast excellent. We recommend it.

Review 48:Staff was really friendly. Eccellent services, included the tranfer tothe airport. Breakfast both continental and european one. Location wasperfect, really close to the city centre. In front of the hotel, twodelicious coffee and bar.

Review 49:The room was too dark and had insufficient natural light even during the day. But other rooms seemed to be better in this regard.

Review 50:internet connection, breakfast, location, cleanliness, friendly and very helpful staff, comfortable atmosphere.

Review 51:1) There was no hot water in my room. Il n'y avait pas d'eau chaude dans ma chambre. J'avais informé la réception (en vain). Odamda sıcak su yoktu.2) The internet was not working very well in my room. L'internet parfois ne marchait pas bien. Internet çok iyi çalışmıyordu odamda.

Review 52:1) The hotel is in the city-center. L'hôtel est au centre-ville. Otel şehir merkezinde.2) The staff is very nice. Le personnel est très sympathique et à l'écoute du client. Personel güleryüzlü ve yardımsever. 3) The hotel is beautiful. L'hôtel est joli. Otelin dekorasyonu çok güzel.

Review 53:The stuff was so friendly and helpfull, best service that we can imagine. The rooms are tasteful decorated and very clean. If we come again to Hatay The Liwan Hotel will be our first choice. Beautiful and amazing hotel!!!

Review 54:Too expensive for what you get. Despite the relatively high price, the room was nothing special. Very difficult to find and park if you have a car.

Review 55:Good location, friendly staff.

Review 56:In a remodeled older town house, very attractive and comfortable room, pleasant staff, excellent breakfast, excellent location downtown at the edge of the old city. I would happily stay here again.

Review 57:I had booked a double room for a single person occupancy, but I was given a single room. I was very disappointed, I would have paid the double room price had I known this were to happen. My brothers family traveling with me were given a room above their pub and they could not sleep due to noise and the people shouting on the street outside.

Review 58:Decoration and the overall look of the hotel was nice. The staff is nice and accommodating. Food in the restaurant is good and has a broad spectrum.

Review 59:You can hear live music from the restaurant/bar in your hotel room if you are in the first floor.

Review 60:All the staff were incredibly helpful. They mapped out all our stops, parked our car on the busy street, and made us feel at home.

Review 61:We just did not like the fact that we had to leave.

Review 62:This hotel by itself is a junction of cultures and personification of hospitality. We stayed there for 3 nights and met around 10 personnel. All were genuinely beautiful people. In the room there were everything you needed without making the room crowded. Architectural details were well kept and wonderful. Location could not be better. You will want to come back to this hotel and the city.

Review 63:during the night, the street that hotel locate was so noisy

Review 64:very cozy building location is great, very close to main attractions. Hotel staff is so friendly and helpfull i can highly recommend it.

Review 65:My wife and I booked 4 nights here using Booking.com. We did so thenight before arriving. It stated that only one room was left and theroom was Approx $200us per night. The room was described as a superdeluxe double. When we arrived, the advertised prices on the wall were much less. When greeted, we were told our room was the most special and is where they put the honeymooners. The room was a clean but a small sterile room with 2 half windows at floor height that peered into restaurant below. Because we couldn't sleep due to the noise in the restaurant, We requested another room. This room was small with high ceilings. It had character. On the first floor and had a balcony. The noise was much worse here. We didn't sleep but a few hours each night. There was a large entertainment venue next door with live music until 12am each night and then when it closed we could then hear the hotel's bar music that went Boom Boom. At 7am, the people would arrive at the entertainment venue next door to begin cleanup. The music would start again. The hotel is noisy and you cannot sleep here. The breakfast is below par when compared to budget hotels. When I checked out, I expected to pay the rates of the rooms I stayed in. This was not so. Because I booked through booking.com, they held me to the original rates. The desk attendant could not contact the manager so that I could appeal this to someone with authority. She explained that it was how the system works. (Some guest pay more than other) Room Tip: Go to another hotel See more room tips

Review 66:The plumbing. Bathrooms

Review 67:There is a bar nearby and causes a lot of noise until 1 am. Sleeping until that time is challanging.

Review 68:In the heart of the city. Converted from an old Hatay house. Friendly staff.

Review 69:My room, booked as double for sıngle use, was very small and had nowındow apart from skylıght and small (one foot square) outlet. In lateMarch thıs was ok - but I thınk the room would be unınhabıtable ınhıgh summer!

Review 70:Very effıcıently run. Smooth pıck-up from Hatay aırport. Fluent Englıshspoken at receptıon. Room spotless and nıce bathroom. Plenty of extra -tea/coffee,soap, shampoo and so on. Plwasant restaurant (though notas good as nearby Anadoulu). Pleasant breakfast.

Review 71:The bedrooms overlook the dining area and there was no outside window which made it uncomfortable and very noisy especially at night. We couldn't sleep because of the noise. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this hotel to friends.

Review 72:Clean, comfortable bed, beautiful building in central area. Excellent staff.

Review 73:The room is small, The has no hotel facilities since its a small one,

Review 74:The building is historical building and converted to a hotel, the location is in the heart of old Antakya (Hatay), rooms are clean and bathroom is small but all newly renovated ...
