Reviews for Fern Valley Hotel and Conference Center

Review 1:The whole experience. The place was nasty and scary. I made sure I washed everything when we got home. I left my bags outside until I could wash everything.

Review 2:Nothing at all

Review 3:The 3 rd floor hall smelled of marijuana both nights it was terrible also on Saturday they have party and kids were loud running in hall. TV was terrible not many stations for the price I paid I feel very dissapointed

Review 4:Hotel was dirty, nothing worked, tvs were old and didn't pick up any stations. Pool was closed before it was supposed to. There were cigarette ashes in the beds and on furniture in a non smoking room. Everything was closed down, the fitness center restaurant, lounge etc. There was broken glass on the floors the place looked like it hadn't seen a vacuum in years. The elevator would get stuck if you weren't careful and would the doors would close on you if you were standing in them. There was no wifi even though they promised they would have it up and running the day after we checked in. Hotel is in a really rough part of town. We were charged 180 bucks a night when the normal rate was only 104. The breakfast was horrible and slapped together. The sinks leak water all over the floor and the toilets don't flush. There was water leaking from the ceiling onto the beds. Horrible horrible hotel for the price I don't recommend anyone staying here.

Review 5:Nothing!!

Review 6:everything from the front desk staff lying to our faces. If you flushed the toilet the tub filled up. Looked as thought they opened a in progress facility to stick people in there for the money. They lied about the pool and pretty much everything. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If I was you I would take this hotel off your site

Review 7:Niothing

Review 8:The hotel was under renovations, no Wi-Fi or television due to being in between contracts. The breakfast should not have even been offered. No muffins or pastries, was available. The only thing at 6:30 was toast and cold cereal. Pretty poor for the price I paid.

Review 9:The parking was free

Review 10:My bathtub had someone else's dirt ring in it & the televisions are way too old & out dated! As soon as I exited the elevator the the stench of the floor hit me. Oh & the guy working the front desk reeked of alcohol!

Review 11:Close to stores & restaurant

Review 12:No one comes to clean the room at all the 3 days I was there, I found few bugs in the room and the door is broken I can't even open the door most of the time it took over 5 min to open the door.

Review 13:The pics from the site were not at all what the room looked like. The parking lot was dark and scary. There was a hole in the tile above the shower and the pool restaurant bar and rec area was closed down.

Review 14:We liked nothing about this hotel. The pics from the site are not at all what it looks like.

Review 15:The hotel was under renovation. From the street it looked like it was out of business. There were mattresses piled up against some of the Windows. It was bad enough that we didn't stay the night.

Review 16:Did not have our booking from Booking.com. Disorganized at front desk. Grumbling staff on front desk and no staff seen anywhere else until next morning. The part of hotel our rooms were in, was cordoned off with yellow tape, no lights on in the public areas that led to our room so we did not feel secure. Emergency alarms went off, had to exit through dark areas. No staff present to provide direction or information. Stood outside for at least 15-20 minutes with no emergency personel or hotel staff appearing. Looked like hotel was just taken over and definitely not ready to welcome guests.

Review 17:Close to airport

Review 18:No WiFi for my entire stay, terrible breakfast (no meat, no egg, no fruit and no water at last day. At last day stay, the breakfast location chaned to at hallway), no shower towel until I called front desk, no tissue paper ... In my option, this is not a hotel.

Review 19:Hotel location

Review 20:Parking lot very dark, curtains falling down, lobby was not clean, Very poor 1st impression. Website very misleading, Bar/lounge not open, resturant closed, huge holidome but no inside rooms being used, holidome lights off, no water in pool. Lots of undesirable groups hanging out in entrances to hotel. Trash bags stacked up by door entrances. Rooms you stay in are not even in the same bldg That the lobby is, they are across the street. That was enough for me, no way could I spend the night there, did not feel safe at all.

Review 21:The staff at the front desk was very understanding when I ask to check out and told him why.

Review 22:We arrived at the hotel to learn the pool and restraunt we closed which was a big let down. As we checked in to our room it was dingy and the cable and wifi did not work very well. The parking lot was ridiculous and their breakfast was literally a plastic table with dry bagels or 1 type of cereal and warm milk. We will not be going back.

Review 23:They had plenty of towels and toilitries in the room.

Review 24:This place is very run down and not kept up. When we first checked in they gave us a room that was not even cleaned from last people. Had to go back and get a different one. Keys deactivated multiple times. And couldn't even get a receipt for my full stay.

Review 25:The entire first floor was under construction so the pool and hot tub were not operating. Would have been nice to have known that prior to booking. My father has COPD and had to stop twice to get to our room because it is so big and the elevator was so far from the lobby. The "breakfast" was across the street and unavailable to us. The room could have been cleaner but we just needed a room to crash in.

Review 26:I thought the staff (Ryan) was very nice and check-in went smoothly. They have plenty of parking. It has the potential to be a decent place when construction is done. Lots of places to eat near by.

Review 27:We asked for a non smoking room. Nope. We had a security guard try to come in our room @ midnight. What??? It was the creepiest empty hotel.

Review 28:The closeness to the airport

Review 29:the staff acted snobby, both soda machines stole my money, the wifi didn't work, the tv had like 5 stations, the building I stayed in was unattended by staff (not even a desk clerk there, and its not worth the long walk to the other building in the morning for a bowl of cereal and a donut. I definitely would not stay there again

Review 30:the bed and the free shuttle to the airport. that's it

Review 31:Couldn't sleep because there was a party going on an kept my daughter up. It was horrible!!!!!!

Review 32:The beds were comfortable and that was the best part.

Review 33:The Wi-Fi didn't work. The room didn't have a kitchen.

Review 34:For a motel near an airport it is surprisingly quite. There's lots of places to get something to eat the area.

Review 35:I didn't like how the towels and bed sheets were stained. How there were no towels in our room in the first place. The air conditioner sucked. We were sweating all night without sheets on. The room service sucked. There was no free wifi or free breakfast. And the place was a mess. It was under construction and everything looked really ugly. It wasn't a place for guest to be staying at under such circumstances. And the price was really expensive for such a bad stay.

Review 36:I didn't like anything

Review 37:Horrible service, horrible amenities, and lousy staff. The man who brought me towels was the only one I respected.

Review 38:There was nothing to like. The place was horrible.

Review 39:Our tub was filled with dirty water upon arrival, maintenance fixed itbut no one came back to clean it so we couldn't take a shower. Therewas no tp in the bathroom. Everything in the main building was closeddown for renovation from flooding (it flooded like 6 - yrs ago. That's a long reno). So no lounge, pool, hot tub, game room.Breakfast was a few stale donuts and bagels that were hard, some of theoranges had rot. Breakfast on Sat morn didn't get served till after9 am because no one had a key to get out the food. Snack machine had 2bags of peanuts and 3 or 4 candy bars - nothing else. Front lobby andfloors throughout the buildings were filthy. Grass hadn't been mowedfor at least a month. Windows were so dirty that it looked like it washazy outside, carpets had stains everywhere and looked like it had notbeen vacuumed in months. Tv was at least 10 years old as was thefurniture because it was chipped, broken, etc. they gave us a $20.00discount but with taxes it still cost $99.00 per night (there was noplace else to go). One of the most awful places I've ever stayed. Not worth $29.00 per night much less the $99 don't trust pictures ontheir site, those were from like 1993 according to one guest that hadbeen coming there since 1993 but said he would never be back, at least10 people told us the same thing!

Review 40:The mattress wasn't bad

Review 41:Tub/shower drain stopped up. The facilitie was very very unkept, grass and shrubs had not been mowed for months. Some rooms from exterior look like were vandalized.

Review 42:Convenient to fairgrounds.

Review 43:Do not stay here. No ac, lights work some times, very bad smell, windowsbroke out, no ice, would not refund money. No Mang. At the place to talkto. Do not stay here !

Review 44:maids smoked in room did not leave linen had go to office every day because maids picked up dirty linen but left no clean linen .Had party in conference room and played LOUD music until 4 am and we couldn't go to sleep.

Review 45:nothing

Review 46:Hotel did not look operational. It very deserted. Compare to this hotel, Motel 6 and Super 8 look luxurious. Spent 45 minutes looking for the reservation desk. Submitted comment via email and telephone and no one phone me back.

Review 47:Free shuttle to airport.

Review 48:The room was hot we had to buy a fan to help the air conditioner, the maintenance man came n told us to pull the curtain to keep the heat from coming in. None of the amenities was in order such as,the pool, excerise roomn bar.

Review 49:It was quiet, the room was clean n fully equipped with everything we needed such as towels, trash bags n clean sheets.

Review 50:The fact the halls were extremely hot. The Air conditioner hardly worked. A few people in my group, went out and bought box fans for their rooms. They shouldn't have had to do that! Roach in room.

Review 51:I honestly can't say there's much I enjoyed there.

Review 52:We would asked for extra towels both nights that we were there. The first night we had to call them four times before they brought us any. The second night, they didn't bring them at all.

Review 53:This was the start of our vacation and we selected this hotel based on the swimming pool. After we had already checked in we found out the pool was closed and been closed for awhile. This info should of been available on booking.com. We also never found where the free breakfast was in our building so we had to walk over to the main building to eat breakfast there.

Review 54:The bed was really comfortable.

Review 55:The wifi didn't work. The pool was closed, the batteries were dead in the remote, the refrigerator was missing, out shower backed up into my sister in laws shower. The restaurant was closed. They charged my card $20 extra dollars.

Review 56:My room was clean.,

Review 57:There were a few things that I didn't like about the hotel. First, when we got into our room, the air was off and it was so hot in our room. We had to turn the air on and then leave for a few hours until it cooled down. There was also trash all over the room from the previous guest. The television only had two channels that were watchable; the rest were poor quality and you couldn't make out the picture. There were holes throughout the blankets and sheets and the hotel smelled musky all throughout the place.

Review 58:I liked that the hotel was close to so many restaurants.

Review 59:Terrible service Dripping faucet Noisy A/C No TV remote Dirty carpet and walls Lazy, useless personnel Unkept grounds, grown over much more

Review 60:Close to my convention.

Review 61:The breakfast was very pitiful, not much food at all. The place was run down and the room did not look very clean.

Review 62:The person that gave us our keys was nice.

Review 63:Smelling place ,Smelling rooms, very strong odor in rooms .not a healthy place for humans.

Review 64:Nothing at all, this place should be close for renovation,as soon as you walk into the allways the smell of cigarret hits you straight away.same in the rooms,my pregnant sister could'nt be breathing.we will not recommend this place to stay to any of our families and friends.

Review 65:false advertisement hotel had been flooded out and was under construction. lobby had a very bad oder. everything on the website was not correct. hotel looks very deserted and cheep. i didnt check in i booked another room. employee stated that the continial breakfast was suspect

Review 66:close to interstate

Review 67:the place looked like a dump, the pools were not working, the room was filthy, and it looked like we were the only people there.

Review 68:they refunded me my money

Review 69:We were under the understanding that the hotel had pool and hot tub and breakfast. After checking in we were told that that was not the case, was told that they had flooded a while back and those amenities were not available. We paid 80.09 +tax etc. And was not offered any kind of discount for that inconvenience. That was a big part of the reason for.choosing this hotel.

Review 70:The wifi was down and there was a lot of renovations being done, including the pool. The breakfast was very minimal.

Review 71:The bed was extremely comfortable and staff was very helpful.

Review 72:Person checking me in did not know how to find my online reservation. Staff did not have a definite place that breakfast would be served. when calling in the morning they said it was in a certain place, but it was not. Breakfast was very minimal

Review 73:good beds, nice bathroom

Review 74:I would have to say a bit creepy, not lit enough outside and I know they are renovating, but the building kind of stinks inside, very musty, moldy smell!! Hopefully that will change with renovations! Also that on booking said they have smoking rooms, but when i arrived she said they were not going to have anymore! If they made one floor smoking, like the top one!!

Review 75:The room was clean and bed was comfy, that was all that was important

Review 76:The room was in disarray The bath tub would not drain The bar and restaurant was closed or not in use no more The complimentary breakfast had expired milk

Review 77:It was for one nite

Review 78:Went for derby weekend. Apparently there was a flood a few weeks before. Caution tape everywhere on first floor. All common areas were closed and smelled like mildew. Room gross. Hallways smelled like cigarettes smoke. Many guests checked out early and had the same exact experience. Ii am disappointed that this hotel was even made an option on booking.com.

Review 79:Not being in the room!

Review 80:No Wifi. The other side of the building was completely close down including the pool area, lots of noise couldn't sleep at night. The rooms smell like cigarette even though it said it was a nonsmoking room. The carpet was stain bathroom was clogged. Refrigerator had mold inside of it couldn't used tv remote control wouldn't work. Shower was dirty, towels were stained. The breakfast was horrible old food served. The furniture was old.

Review 81:The oranges the size of lemons.

Review 82:The elevator was dirty, stains all on the carpet, toilet water was cloudy. I will not refer this hotel to anyone. They need to renovate/update the rooms.

Review 83:The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 84:There was no ice in the machines, & an odd smell in hallways.

Review 85:I liked the convenience of the concert I was attending being in the convention center of the hotel.Check in was fast, and the receptionist was friendly!

Review 86:The place was filthy dirty the rooms were horrible the bedding was dirty mold in the showers and around the windows I had two rooms reserved my other guests that were staying there when they got there said they had no room it was horrible I am still after 3 days waiting for my receipt because they did not have toner in their printer

Review 87:This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in it was horrible the rooms were filthy the ceilings were stained from leaking pipes the floors were filthy dirty and had stains all over there was mold in the showers and around the windows I would not recommend this to my worst enemy it was a horrible terribly overpriced, add the worst experience in a motel in my life

Review 88:The roof was damaged. Our room was not properly prepared for us. Our keys did not work at first. there was not enough food for The continetal breakfast And there was an odor in some public rooms within the hotel.

Review 89:Nothing

Review 90:Booked a smokeing room put me in a non smoking and didn't tell me they didn't have any available till after I was already in my room..that was second strike first strike stayed there a year earlier when they was remodeling and they put me in a room with bed bugs...

Review 91:Got a good nights sleep

Review 92:The building its self has very little up keep. The landscaping, well there was no landscaping just weeds and trash all around the building. The curtains hanging in the windows of everyroom were stained and falling down. The rooms were bery outdated and very unkept to the point non of us wanted to sleep in the beds. The girl that checked us in had a tramp stamp that was showing the whole time. So we checked out within 15 to 20 min. after arriving and then was told it would take 3 to 5 business days to refund almost $300 of our money. So needless to say our weekend in town was shortened because of our money being tied up all weekend. Our bank said they release the money immediately after a business does. So not so surebwhy it was not released until Monday and that was with me calling about it again. So don't stay there very very unprofessional workers and ver very very nasty building.

Review 93:Nothing!

Review 94:Place is filthy and falling apart

Review 95:That the front desk was kind enough to advise me that there was no internet or cable tv, so i could cancel my reservation at this delapidated condemnable hotel

Review 96:I had to switch rooms 4 times. WiFi did not work. TV did not work. Yes they have a pool table but it was broken. All rooms smelled like smoke. The roof leaked throughout the hotel. With all of these problems a manager was not found until the next day.

Review 97:Switched rooms 3 times until we finally found a room that didnt have someone in it or wasn't destroyed.

Review 98:Free to do whatever you want in the facility. Very little staff. Kinda dangerous and scary.

Review 99:Extremely run down lobby was raining inside. Staff was rude. Room was disgusting dirty. Outside security door did not lock. Fire doors proper open inside. Worst hotel ever.

Review 100:Room took 2 hours to warm up. No coffee or anything. TV was messed up and I was told serviceman was coming. He never showed up. No heat in lobby. Really Carpet was terrible bathroom shower would not drain. You were in ankle deep water at end of shower. Snow in the indoor overpass. I will not be back and I have spread the word to my co-workers to stay clear.

Review 101:Bed had a 10" dip in the middle, had to ask for supplies for room, ex: hand towels, kleenx, ice bucket, wash cloths. TV channels sucked, no refridge in room, no micro in room. Foot print on the toilet seat, finger prints on back of door, crud in the corners of bathroom. It was very unclean.

Review 102:In sitting area by pool ceilings were leaking. Tables were nasty and pieces of food on chairs. Door knob on bathroom door falling off. Tv didn't work. Phone in room didn't work. Our keys wouldn't work. No heat in halls or by pool area. Continental Breakfast stale donuts. Staff isn't friendly and didn't even ask how are stay was. Also after checking in we found out someone had been murdered that morning in back parking lot. Fire alarm in room was hanging off the wall. The place needs lots of work and cleaning. Our socks were black from walking in room. Never will we go here again

Review 103:The pool was thw cleanest oart of hotel.

Review 104:We were treated rudely!! The first room not only did the TV not work, but there was a razor cap floating in 5he toilet. Then she moved us to another room, which was a second long walk from the desk, and the keys didn't work. Then for the third room, another really long walk, smell so strongly of cigarette smoke but it was 12:30 am and we had to be up at 4 so I just gave up but had a horrible headache our whole flight to texas!!

Review 105:The bed was comfy

Review 106:and I would have got the same amount of bugs in the morning. My view of this I'm sorry that hotel is a grim one.

Review 107:that was a good place. It smelled old though and looked like it was pulled straight from the 70 s or so. overall I had a decent time and could have had a better one if your room service was better.I paid good money for that room and could have stayed at the budget in for half the cost

Review 108:the bed was horrible the elevator was really sketchy the hotel is entirely too big poorly designed and very cold and empty

Review 109:The only I liked about this hotel was the convenience to the expressway across the street from a few gas stations and restaurants

Review 110:Waited at front desk for 20 minutes to check in. Room not serviced one day of stay. Took almost 2 hours to get towels. Person that brought towels let themselves in instead of knocking because front desk said no one in the room.

Review 111:Mold on bottom of shower curtain and soap holder stuck in a maze of old dressers no staff every seen in our hotel which was quite scary as to our safety. If it would have been just us girls we would not have stayed. every lamp in the room was unplugged so we had to climb behind stuff to plug them in. we would have not stayed there but we were too tired to deal with moving. No hot tub and we would have had to go outside to use it and to have breakfast so we ate elsewhere. I really needed the hot tub. And also the coffee pot worked everyotherday that really ticked me off. I have never stayed at a place so bad.

Review 112:Near by food

Review 113:The hallways on the side of building going to the parking lot was full of leaves. Need to sweep the leaves out. In the room there was a fan that ran all the time in the bathroom. No switch to turn it off. The lights above the bathroom mirror were burnt out.

Review 114:It was close to the event we were attending.

Review 115:Main building halls need cleaning and painting, elevator needs cleaning and new carpet, rooms are ok but questionable bug sanitation, wi fi is not accessible in the main building except for the lobby and recreation areas, no media area for printing doucuments, main building soda machines not operable, The hotel would not be particularly attractive for the business traveler due to limited wi-fi, no media printing and scanning facilities, nice gym room but most machines not operable and the free weights have been stolen, no security provisions in the rooms like safes for valuables...

Review 116:price, courtesy airport shuttle, friendliness and helpfulness of staff, loaction near restaurants, Chef is excellent when restaurant is open, breakfast buffet is nice when it is available...

Review 117:The seediness of the property, the unkempt rooms, broken shower head, air conditioner off the wall, room dirty. If I could have left, I would have but we had driven all night and already had reservations here based on web report. Never again will reply on web responses.

Review 118:Absolutely nothing!

Review 119:Our room smelled. It wasn't very clean. Our view was horrible (construction on the roof). Needed a lot of updating. Curtains had holes in them. Several things on the floor so you know that the room had not been cleaned well. Penny on floor and ink pen cap. Halls were hot and smelled bad.

Review 120:Lady that checked us in was very friendly.

Review 121:The hallways and elevator were FILTHY!!! They looked bad and smelled worse. With a little housekeeping the place could at least be tolerable.

Review 122:The staff were courteous and helpful. The room itself was "worn" from years of use but seemed clean and the bed was fine. The location was great...I can see why they had rooms vacant after seeing the facility.

Review 123:The breakfast could be better.

Review 124:The pool and play area as well as the gym. The two woman who checked me in were brilliant I don't no there names I wanna say Donna is one but I'm not sure I checked in at 3 those woman are amazing and have excellent customer service. They really get the job done.

Review 125:The pool didn't open until 3pm. And check out was at 11am??? The only reason I stayed at this (should be condemned) hotel was for a pool we isn't get to use. The smell as soon as the door opened would gag someone with the strongest stomach. This place is by far beyond anything you could even imagine, when you think of a terrible hotel. It's worse then gross. I do not mind staying in low budget hotels, but this hotel is so bad, you have to wonder if it's even legally up to code. We had several electric sockets in the room that didn't work. The mattresses where stained and when you sat down you nearly touched the floor. I seriously cannot think of one good thing other then, I'm so surprised the air worked so well. I will never ever stay here again and I would advise the place be shut down... It's that bad.

Review 126:The air in the room was cold.

Review 127:The room smelled ,two dirty wash clothes left in the bath room hangingon the shower curtian ,no bath towels,no coffiee pot ,no remote controlfor tv thhe hallway was hot as hell, after telling the front deskpersonal about the issiues nothing happen ,day two some thing were thesame no bath towels and the biggest was still no coffiee pot. Bummer!!!! will never come back !!!! thank you speedway for being so near !

Review 128:The police bring me two bath towels after midnight !!! great po-po !!!

Review 129:During our stay, there was some sort of dancing event at the conference center. This meant parking for hotel guests was severely limited and we had to park in an auxiliary lot. There was a party in the room above us (calls to the front desk did nothing); the bass filtering through the ceiling made it difficult to sleep. Also, a fire alarm went off at 1:26AM (another call to the office confirmed there wasn't a fire just people smoking in the hallway); it went off after 20 minutes. There's a strange smell on the ground floor and in the hallways - it reminded me of roller skating rinks from the 1980's.

Review 130:The location and ease in finding the hotel were convenient. There are a lot of fast food and quick restaurants nearby if you need late night food. Checking in and out was a breeze - the front desk personnel were nice. The room was clean but plain. If I were to stay here again, I'd ask to be in the hotel only building (there are two buildings and 1 has the conference center) as I suspect it would be quieter.

Review 131:Stairwell was filthy, spiderwebs and old towel. Exit sign broken, tape used to hold carpet down. Beer case and cans in parking lot. Difficult to get from car to room. Pool open til 10 p.m. and it was loud with screaming and partying. Graffiti on the headboard. Would not recommend and will not stay ever again.

Review 132:Breakfast was decent but not sure about following health and sanitation rules, no tongs to grab bagels just use hands. No napkins around had to ask for them.

Review 133:The only thing I could see that could improve the stay would be addibg microwaves and refrigerators to the rooms!

Review 134:Everything was great! Room was comfortable and roomy, loved the blackout curtains, even though there were many antique and classic car owners there in town for the car show you didn't know it! We never heard any noise from yhe parking lot or nearby freeway! The location was excellent! Plenty of food and convienant stores for snacks and gas! Breakfast also very satisfactory! My husband had forgotten some very important receipts in our room and when we returned a couple of hours later they were still there!! Surely saved us some headaches!! We would and will recommend thus hotel to our friendd and business aquaintances! Keep up the good work! We will definetly be returnimg in the near future!

Review 135:Ice machines do not work. Bushes are overgrown to the point of dangerous to see around. Parking lot light two out of twelve worked but there were signs stating that the hotel was not responsible for damage or theft. Building are becoming run down due to a inadequate maintenance staff.

Review 136:Everyone we contacted were nice. Housekeeping was good.

Review 137:Indoor Pool didn't open due to lack of business , but they were busy enough to charge me a higher rate because of a music festival in town. Staff was unpleasant.

Review 138:Room was nice in size
