Reviews for The Peninsula Chicago

Review 1:can't believe you charge so much for overnight parking, especially for those paying full price for the room. your value proposition suffers from this.

Review 2:pleasant, attentive staff. room was fine.

Review 3:The Chicago parade of lights was that weekend & so we could not get within 2 and 1/2 blocks of the hotel. We also could not get a cab that night as well- the weather was terrible (1st snowstorm of the year) & the fire at the Hancock bldg added to the mayhem! But not the hotels fault.

Review 4:Nothing

Review 5:Best service, Luxury interior, Great food, Automatic control system by iPad for room condition, service, information. Such a great experience for my first visit in Chicago! I would come again if I have a chance to visit Chicago again!

Review 6:There was one gal taking reservations for chocolate bar the first evening of our stay. She seemed irritated with me for changing my reservation time. Yes I changed it 3 times however, our evening plans had been altered. I made changes to our reservations to reflect. Again that next morning there she was taking reservations for Brunch. It was almost noon and there were several open tables however she asked for my mobile number to call when she had an opening for us. so we waited 10 to 15 minutes when another staff member noticed us standing there and seated us directly. after we sat I made eye contact with the initial gal reservationist, she looked at me with a snarl. I asked if there was something wrong and her reply was "no worries". What is that? 'no worries?' I thought to myself. Ugh, I felt I missed something and sat through breakfast feeling shunned and self conscious. Other wait staff members were gracious and courteous, they addressed me by my name, making me feel welcome.

Review 7:Location was Fab

Review 8:Not one thing!

Review 9:The property is spectacular - with its diversity of restaurants and convenient location. Our room was real comfortable and spacious. Most of all, we loved the staff. It is clear that they are a team of friends. We were very appreciative that we could use the hotel autos around "my kind of town." Dwayne is a top-notch dude!

Review 10:After a smooth check in, we got to our room, settled in, I got my two young children to bed after our very long plane ride at 1:21am I received an email from the hotel saying that "unfortunately, my rate would be higher and my new rate for my three night stay would be triple that of what my reserved rate was when I booked my room". I was traveling with my two small children alone, without my husband and now it was 1:30am and I was so upset, wondering if I should change hotels in the middle of the night or see if this can be worked out etc. I called Booking.com (I am SO glad that Booking.com has a live person that I could speak with in the middle of the night!) and booking.con immediately called the hotel to fix this problem. It took two hours to remedy the problem and Booking.com had to speak to several people at the hotel to fix this issue but they did. They would update me via email and they called to give me the status of the situation. What Booking.com explained to me was that by me using their website, I had entered into a contract at my lower hotel rate and the hotel MUST honor my lower rate and Booking.com said they would fight for me and make sure I got my lower rate even if it was the middle of the night. Finally, at 4am I got the news that all is well and Booking.com saved the day!!!! The hotel did honor my Booking.com rate and after that my stay was excellent!!!! What a relief!!!! I would have had to change hotels with my two small kiddos alone in a large city in the middle if the night... Thank you Booking.com!!!!!

Review 11:Our check in was smooth until....

Review 12:The hotel was nice and but reminded me of a slightly better Conrad. Rooms were average and not impressive. For the same price stay at trump. This hotel is a joke compared to Donald's place

Review 13:We have stayed in hotels all over the world, but our favorite, that we always come back to, is the Peninsula hotel in Chicago. The service is Exquisite! Margaret, Raleigh,NC

Review 14:Nothing not to like, but this time there was no bottled water upon arrival. My wife asked the staff the next morning and they immediately placed some extra bottles.

Review 15:We like the soft comfort of the room as it is very relaxing. The staff is always very courteous and attentive.

Review 16:Nothing...just leaving on Sunday to head home. Ha!

Review 17:There is not one negative thing I could say about our stay. They made my 5 year old son feel like a King for the wknd! Gianna (sp) (concierge) is 5 STAR! We would never stay anywhere else :)

Review 18:Very, very expensive food in the lobby. Good food but very pricey.

Review 19:Very clean, updated bathroom with a spotless shower, comfy bed, spotless carpet, fresh smell in the room, great lighting with dimmers on all switches. Staff was wonderful, extremely courteous..

Review 33:Location

Review 34:The service was impeccable.

Review 35:Hotel staff was impeccable and made our stay wonderful.

Review 36:location,service and price

Review 37:Restaurant should be to the standard of the pinensula hotel

Review 38:Everything, this is just one great hotel! Great staff.

Review 39:Everything!

Review 40:Everything in this hotel

Review 41:Everything

Review 42:clean

Review 43:In room printer was broken. Concierge slow to respond. Had to call again and tried housekeeping, and they came quickly and resolved the issue. Difficult to figure out how to turn off "night lights" under the bed end tables. Needed to go to front door and turn off master switch in order to get the room totally dark.

Review 44:Thermostat telling me the outside temperature! Nice touch.

Review 45:If I HAD to find something negative to say about this place, I'd say that they need more outlets for charging devices in the room. When you're a family with numerous devices that you apparently can't live without, you need more than one spare outlet. This was a minor flaw overall, however!

Review 46:What's not to like? From first minute to last, we enjoyed our stay and the unexpected-but-appreciated upgrade to a Junior Suite. We'll be back!!

Review 47:The staff and service couldn't have been more friendly. The hotel is conveniently located near most attractions and the concierge was most helpful in suggesting sites to visit and arranging reservations.

Review 48:This property is gorgeous! And the best part is the staff is amazingly warm & friendly. The location in Chicago is perfect. We felt like royalty!!

Review 49:That won't be back in Chicago to stay here again sooner.

Review 50:I spend a lot of time in hotels, and this was the best I've stayed in for a while. Beautiful bespoke furnishings in the rooms and inventive, cool bars, restaurants and open spaces that give this place an air all of its own and belonging perhaps to an era before the rise of the monotonous chain hotel.

Review 51:I have no complaints.

Review 52:This is the best property I have stayed in for a very long time. As someone who was in the convention and trade show business I have stayed in quite a number of properties and The Peninsula rates among the best in the world. I am excited to see they are opening a property in Paris. I hope to be there in the Fall.

Review 53:too many restrictions, wanted to have lunch in the lobby and they said, they were setting up for some other service, really? not used to this from a five star hotel!

Review 54:good comfortable hotel in a great location

Review 55:Everything fascinating!!! The food from Shanghai Terrace is very authentic. We also taste the afternoon tea, the scone is really nice. It's a pity that we didn't have the Sunday brunch over there, but we will definitely come back and enjoy it.

Review 56:Looks and feels dated. Lack of electrical outlet by the bed I cannot charge my phone and tablets. Mediocre room service. Crab rangoon from a Hong Kong based hotel is NOT acceptable. Shower hose leaks not acceptable in this luxury class hotel.

Review 57:Great location. I brought my pet and the staff was friendly and accommodating to us.

Review 58:The location couldn't have been more convenient! World Class shopping and restaurants were abundant in any direction. The staff were fantastic - We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay there again!

Review 59:Room was not ready and had to wait almost 2 hours to check in (though they comped my drinks at the bar to make up for it)

Review 60:Great staff Peninsula room layout Location

Review 61:There were 2 of my 5 nights stay without turn down service. There is a spider in the corner of my room of largest window overlooking the street - south west corner.

Review 62:Easy check in and extension of stay. Spa services were excellent. Food in Lobby and service excellent as was room service.concierge staff very helpful. Room and amenities superb.

Review 63:For $300 plus a night the condition of furnishings in the room werepoor. Worn wood on desk and bar and a fineal missing from headboard.Finishes seem tired and outdated. On second evening room was not made upuntil we came back after the day out shopping. We had to leave room at5:30 pm so maid could have access. We orders two cups of coffee fromroom service and received two full pots of coffee and were charged $20.

Review 64:Staff and service were excellent. Location can't be beat.

Review 65:There is nothing to dislike about a property dedicated to guest satisfaction; however, at check-in the greeting could have been somewhat more attentive and the eye-contact could have been more sincere. This is not a criticism per-se, rather an observation that the front desk welcome was simply ordinary, which is not expected in a hotel of such character and distinction.

Review 66:The high quality of appearance and appointments, the caring and consideration from all personnel, and the appearance and appointments of the rooms.

Review 67:Room service menu was very limited. Althoigh prompt food delivery wasimpressive.

Review 68:Clearly the top hotel in chicago. Also the most expensive. Ranks in thebest hotels I have stayed in london, paris, etc. smoking allowed roomwas odor free.

Review 69:I really enjoy my stay in the hotel its very luxury hotel and its in the hart of shopping street. The house keeping is 24 hours I highly recommend this hotel for all chicago visiter

Review 70:Limited food menu, should provide a more diverse menu list at the lobby dining. Breakfast is also limiting. Could do with later opening given the hotel bar is often overcrowded.

Review 71:I like the staff at the peninsular hotel. Very Efficient and competent.

Review 72:Shangai Terrace is way over prived and over spiced. Almost 100/person abd you coudn't taste the food because of the lack of balanceon flavours. There are dozens of better restaurants in Chicago. Thehotel should do something about it.

Review 73:Impecable hotel. Espacious room beautifully decorated. Great service.Spa and Gym on the last floor are very well equiped.

Review 74:We loved everything. We have stayed at several large and boutique hotels on the Gold Coast and the Peninsula is probably the best across the board. I have a difficult last name, but all of the staff immediately remembered it and also pronounced it correctly.

Review 75:Cleanliness and comfortable.

Review 76:Felt very pampered!

Review 77:the friendless of all the staff

Review 78:Fantastic in every way.

Review 79:The staff's attention to detail

Review 80:The staff was very kind and easy to talk to.

Review 81:Decor is a bit outdated, but still very comfy.

Review 82:The staff were just great, the conceirge and the housekeeping did a fabulous job!

Review 83:nice location best service

Review 84:Exceptional service!

Review 85:customer service, linens and beds, special chocolates delivered to the guest on arrival, and privacy.

Review 86:Take care about all details in the room to keep it fresh and clean.

Review 87:Thought the menu for dinner was a bit bizarre and breakfast for my grandchildren too expendsive.

Review 88:A beautiful place to stay

Review 89:Staff was great. So was the spa and accomodations

Review 90:Notting

Review 91:Hotel is amazing

Review 92:Wonderful Hotel.

Review 93:big hotel = less committed staff

Review 94:the facilities and comfort of room/privacy are fantastic

Review 95:Place to recycle cups and papers.

Review 96:Great location. Great resaurant. Loved the TLC

Review 97:No coffee in room

Review 98:Asian flair, indoor pool, balcony, foot mats by bed, concierge, the bar,

Review 99:The beds were ridiculously comfortable...the staff was super nice even though I don't look rich.but stayin there made me feel like I was!!

Review 100:Staff well trained and INTERESTED in insuring my comfort

Review 101:No better hotel in Chicago.

Review 102:Justin Bieber staying in our hotel made ingress & egress challenging for a family with small children

Review 103:Amazing service

Review 104:Out standing services. I would highly recommend this hotel. The services they provide does not exist in the US.
