Reviews for Shilo Inn Suites Hotel - Bend

Review 1:In the pool area the clean towels were placed in the same container with the dirty ones, yuk! The room needed vacuuming and the tub didn't have any way to plug the water in and the shower doors didn't get cleaned. Need to get rid of bed spreads and triple sheet instead.

Review 2:We liked having a pool and Jacuzzi for the kids, the breakfast and serving staff were excellent. Beds were comfortable.

Review 3:Very poor communication btw staff to properly get pick up from shuttle after skiing. Was left in zero degree weather over an hour after numerous calls to shilo who couldn't coordinate with their driver properly

Review 4:Super dirty!! It was not just a couple things that one could overlook but everything was dirty! Would not recommend staying there. Also, do not get a room on third (or even) second floor if you have a lot of luggage - difficult to get to.

Review 5:Close to anything you need in Bend

Review 6:The facilities were a little dated. A remodel of rooms, and updates to the rest of the complex would seem due.

Review 7:The price seemed OK. It was quiet, and out of the way, though close to downtown.

Review 8:Requests made while booking seemed to be disregarded. Staff person who checked me in even read them back to me but when I got to my room non of my requests were met.

Review 9:Many little things did not work well and this bothered us. It took 10 trys to get the TV to stay on. It was hard to figure out the heat/ac controls. Bathroom faucets were hard to turn on and off.

Review 10:The room was unclean. Freezer had a spill, spider and large web by lamp, fireplace didn't have enough power for adequate fire, bed was very uncomfortable, had to call to get a change of towels and old towels were not picked up. Breakfast did not have enough food to fullfill the amount of people. Coffee, plates, mugs, bowls, pancakes, juice, and eggs ran out and we had to wait 30 min until items were replenished.

Review 11:We liked that we were able to have a late check out.

Review 12:Noise. Second floor was not top floor and noise from third floor room was so bad from floors creaking. 5am folks should be banned from the top floors.

Review 13:Grounds well kept. Everything kept clean,

Review 14:The cleanliness in my room was okay, but not good. Dirty stove/drip pans, also inside refrigerator. Wastebaskets had lots of debris under the liners. All surfaces were dusty. Under and behind furniture were leftovers from previous tenants. I found this out while looking for my dog's ball. Outside entrance to my room was dark with a seriously dirty carpeted entry. Made me not want to go in at first impression.

Review 15:The staff was excellent. The outside groundskeeping was very good. The accommodations in my room were very good.

Review 16:Because of the construction of the facility, I could easily hear the people above me. That did awaken me. I don't think they were being particularly loud, I could just hear them talking and walking around.

Review 17:I thought the room was very clean.

Review 18:When we arrived we were told we could not check in until later eventhough we were told we could check in at noon. The front desk said thewould call us when the room was ready. At 4:00 pm we went back therebecause we still did not get a call. We finally checked in but notbefore they tried to over charge us for our room. I parked the car andfound dog feces all over the parking lot. It was obvious dog ownersnever clean up after their dogs. Nor did the hotel. Room was not clean. At breakfast, when we finally got to sit down, we went to get plates andthere were none, we had to wait for them to come out as did a lot ofother people. The eggs were cold and wet, there were no potatoes in thepan, sausages were not done, muffins and bagels were frozen.

Review 19:Nothing.

Review 20:The room was nice, clean and very spacious. Wish we could have stayed longer. We had a room overlooking the river with a balcony which was just beautiful. The front desk staff are very friendly.

Review 21:They put us on the bottom floor I requested top. All rooms on the bottom floor are for people with Pets we don't have any. I asked about being on the top floor that I requested but they said they couldn't do it.I made my reservation on July 7th 2015 I feel I should have got what I requested.

Review 22:We were in Bend Orgeon.

Review 23:The suite needed to be updated with a modern TV instead of the old analogue that was there. Also, the bathroom and kitchen faucets were old and in need of replacement. Not a big deal but the patio furniture was a bit tacky.

Review 24:It was quiet and the location was good for getting back on the highway

Review 25:I felt the property was good value for better than usual amenities. Beautiful area, easy access to everything, two pools which was a great asset when traveling with two kids!

Review 26:The room had a single French door for entry and the rest of the "wall " that the door was on was glass. We wanted to keep the curtains closed for privacy but then it was hard to open the door. So just a weird set up .... Also wifi was a bit spotty I think just because of the size of the property.

Review 27:Was a convenient location

Review 28:I place just had this feeling of being dated. I think it could use a little updating and renewing a few things. Kind of feels like its in the past a little. Plus I like a little firmer pillow to sleep with and the ones in the rooms just did not work for me.

Review 29:Nice and quiet location right on the river with a great view in the morning. All a round it did what I needed it to do and me and my wife had a lot of fun.

Review 30:Cough splatter on the pillow cases, holes in the drapes, holes and dirty furniture, toilet seat that was wrong size and electricity went out when using one hairdryer.

Review 31:The continental breakfast and staff acknowledging the horrible conditions of the room. They took $40 off the bill.

Review 32:My room was not ready at 4, told to come back in 30 minutes, still not ready, back in 20, finally ready. When we got to the room there was trash under the bed, bobby pin on the table, just not clean. The bedding was very old and needs to be updated, get rid of the ugly bed spreads, so outdated. The stairs and walkways are old with ripped carpet.

Review 33:I really liked that the property was on the river. There are two swimming pools, one inside, one outside, two hot tubs, a sauna, and a steam room. The free wine and beer in the evening was a really nice treat. The breakfast was really good.

Review 34:This information is based on Room 214. Carpet and furniture was stained and dirty. Sofa bed was broken and dirty as well. Our young children had to sleep with us in a queen bed as carpet was dirty. We had a very uncomfortable experience.

Review 35:Bend is a beautiful city

Review 36:A nice, but aging facility that needs some facelifts and a bit more motivation among the staff.

Review 37:Great indoor pool with two large hot tubs, a steam room, sauna, and gym. Good location along the river.very comfy bed.

Review 38:We liked our balcony with river-view, from which we saw ducks, eagles, herons, deer and geese in the early evenings. Staff is very professional and everything works perfect.

Review 39:Our room wasn't ready until after 5 pm but they gave us a drink voucher for the lounge while we waited. The rooms are kind of outdated but we're spacious.

Review 40:The grounds are really pretty. We had a nice patio overlooking the pool.

Review 41:This facility exceded our expectations for the price. Spacious rooms, excellent on-site restaurant, happy hour drinks and quality breakfast included.

Review 42:The tv had only local channels. The bed was good but slanted head downward. A large spider invaded my shower. The electric plugs were in disuse in some parts of the room so some lights could not be turned on..

Review 43:Lots of privacy and very quiet.

Review 44:Carpets were disgusting. Blew a braker when I was blow drying my hair.So it was pitch black in the bathroom. Had to use light on phone to getmy stuff out of bathroom. Terrible hotel!!!! Do not stay!!!! We left oneday early and checked into a double tree near downtown area....muchbetter! Hotel staff was rude when I told them about my experience.

Review 45:The only think we liked was the bed!

Review 46:Check in was later than expected. We had to ask for soap and shampoo. When we turned the water on, the handle was loose and sprayed water all over everything, including me. The show still had a couple of hairs in it from the last user. If expected much better for the price we paid.

Review 47:The view was nice.

Review 48:Poor Wifi connection in restaurant. Room next to roadway. Small insects in the room when we first entered. Restaurant for dinner was disappointing.

Review 49:Grounds and setting are beautiful. Suites was larger than expected.

Review 50:Staff basically ignored my wife when she went to the lobby with questions, they were fairly prompt with me though.

Review 51:Great room, with an excellent breakfast.

Review 52:The room was not clean, air conditioner was not in working order,we didn't get cleanup or coffee in our room.I will not stay here again.

Review 53:The customer service in the restaurant buffet was awesome.

Review 54:The TV's need to be replaced with flat screens that are HDMI capable.

Review 55:The grounds, pools and Breakfast were all nice. The room was very large and well maintained

Review 56:We stayed two nights and didn't have our room cleaned the second night. When we returned we called for towels and toilet paper.

Review 57:Location on the river. Very nice!

Review 58:Bed was as comfortable as other hotels I've stayed in recently.

Review 59:Staff was courteous and informative. We arrived early and they got us into a room. They told me there would be a hold on my credit card for incidentals and how much that would be (other hotels have not done that). Room had nice ammenities; fireplace and kitchen were unexpected. Pool was beautiful. Complimentary evening beverage and morning breakfast were appreciated.

Review 60:We paid for one queen bed, a queen sleeper and a roll away. When we were going to bed the first night, we found the sleeper sofa was broken and had to get another roll away and one had to sleep on couch. Left early due to uncomfortable accomodations.....

Review 61:Staff, pool, grounds.....

Review 62:Our hideaway bed was broken, pretzel and candy crumbs from the cushions when we tried to pull the bed out. The room didn't even have extra sheets or blankets for the hideaway bed if we had one that worked. I asked for a discount and was only given a $20 credit. The room was super dated considering it cost more than a best western we stayed at the night before in government camp. Will not return.

Review 63:Wifi is always nice, the pools were good too

Review 64:tried to book for 4 adults but reservation came through as 2 adults and 3 kids so we were charged $40 per night extra, assumed it was for the complimentary breakfast, however, the breakfast could have been so much better if the staff had prepped properly for the amount of people staying there. They were constantly surprised by the guests showing up and slow to refill anything.

Review 65:the bed was comfy

Review 66:The non-smoking rule was not at all enforced, people were smoking everywhere.

Review 67:Affordable and spacious room. Good facilities including pools and laundry.

Review 68:Room wasn't cleaned properly before we got there. Food scraps on the table and one chair, room poorly vacuumed. Whoever was supposed to clean it, didn't care about doing a good job. Had dinner one night in restaurant, food okay, service poor, ambience was unappetizing.

Review 69:The location next to the river, small patio next to riverbank. Room was nicely laid out and had a gas fireplace.

Review 70:Wasn't able to get a good wi fi connection, and there was no desk in my room to work at.

Review 71:Nice room on the river. Staff was awesome. Love the access card system.

Review 72:Went to see small river outside of the room(extra charge). I found I was in a minefield of dog pooh.

Review 73:I liked the setting along the river, Very quiet. We had a good nights rest before resuming our journey.

Review 74:My only negative comment... slow WiFi.

Review 75:Great location, helpful staff, very reasonably priced for a 3 weeks stay. An excellent choice if you need a pet-friendly place to stay!

Review 76:The pool area could have used a little closer monitoring. There was a couple in the hot tub with a glass beer bottle. We were there with a group of high school students and one of our boys walked in on this same couple acting inappropriately in the sauna. There were other families there with small children that could have been exposed to this.

Review 77:The staff and facilities were wonderful. It was an excellent value for the money.

Review 78:We did have to have a late dinner and wasn't exactly treated with a welcoming attitude. I never knew the woman's name, but she was less than enthused about us coming in and seemed very irritated with us. A young man ended up being our server and he was great! We understand how at the end of the day, you get tired... but to be so obviously cranky was unprofessional. This still won't deter us from choosing this hotel in the future!

Review 79:We loved everything about the location, the property and the room. Very cozy and clean. Perfect for a really long day of traveling with a young family of 5. Oh and the breakfast was amazing! Very good service from the lady working and she had a really warm smile. Wish we could've stayed longer. Wonderful experience.

Review 80:The facilities are out dated and from what I can tell do not meet code. The stairs up to the upper level rooms do not have a 7-1/2" tall step. The bar has a very strong smell of mold. I know they are currently updating the facility, but it is in need of more than just updating. There is definitely water issues in the back of house area's. I know the building is a pretty old building. And the water supply and drainage systems are probably the original piping. With exception to any upgraded areas. Cast Iron piping realistically has a service life of 50 years at best. The Bend Shilo would benefit greatly from systematically updating all services. Mechanical, Electrical, LSS (Life Safety Services), Doors and Windows. Your hotel is in a wonderful setting. It is a shame to neglect the bones of the facility, only to make it appear updated. The HVAC unit in the wall was very noisy. It is an old model and from appearance, has not really been serviced regularly. There are much better, quitter and way more efficient models available in todays market. All to often, I see hotels focus on updating the TV, lights, beds, carpet and paint and neglect the services to the rooms. Sadly this seems to be the case with your facility.

Review 81:The Bed was great..

Review 82:The location on the river is beautiful, the food is good, there's indoor / outdoor pools with sauna and steam rooms, game rooms for the kids, the rooms are very nice and comfortable and the staff is also very pleasant!

Review 83:We stayed 2 nights and the maid did not come to our room to give us fresh towels until we asked for them.

Review 84:The kids loved the pool and the river nice to see from the back deck.

Review 85:Room was not that clean - greasy smudges on the benches and bedside tables. Broken lightbulb was not fixed and there were no instructions for heater so it was constant air con until maintenance came to help. Toilet smelt strongly of urine.

Review 86:Location was on central in Bend and close to Mt Bachelor. Front desk staff helpful and maintenance came to fix a lightbulb and heater.

Review 87:The Wifi was not password protected, and was intermittent at best.

Review 88:Staff was very nice, polite, professional. Rooms were clean, comfortable mostly. Very nice to have both indoor and outdoor pool options. Double spa was great.

Review 89:We had requested a 2nd floor room, which they were unable to do. Other than that, everything was great!

Review 90:Very comfortable, quiet, nice sized room; river view.

Review 91:Bar drinks taste bad. Breakfast is the same every time we stay. No changes. Room 421. Very old and the bed was like sleeping on a cement mattress.

Review 92:The food was good in the restaurant. We like the location but this is the first time we weren't as pleased as other times.

Review 93:Room, bedding, bathroom was very clean but when I pulled out dresser to look for outlet for my phone I saw a few crackers and a pen on the floor.

Review 94:Beautiful location. Parking close to rooms. Lots of activities offered. Good service and food/coffee in lobby cafe.

Review 95:The "free wifi" had such a poor signal it was useless. The food at breakfast was horrible. I could only assume it was reheated from the morning before. I couldn't even eat the oatmeal. The television was of very poor quality. Kind of hard when you're traveling with two young boys. I was kept up most of the night by the people in the room above us. They were just up and walking around. They really weren't being loud, but I could hear every movement.

Review 96:Pet friendly, convenient location

Review 97:The decor and furnishings of the room were not up yo par as other romes u have stayed in. No flat screen in room.

Review 98:Amazing Beakfast! Polite and helpful staff.. couldnt ask for more regarding the hospitality of the employees!

Review 99:Two things that rubbed the wrong way, having the night staff person give a point and throat cut gesture to tell us to get out at 10:55,and having one morning being able to take breakfast to our room, and the next being told absolutely not??

Review 100:Close to most all services you might want, close to hwy,off street parking, on the river, indoor pool, Jacuzzis, sauna, all open to11. A little dated, they still have keys to unlock your door, liked the gas fireplace in our room. Quite satisfactory.

Review 101:The staff is very friendly and professional. I arrived in the early morning . It was nice to to see a place go above and beyond with there services.props to everyone at the Shilo. I will definitely be back.

Review 102:The rooms are the same as they were 20 years ago, but so are their prices!

Review 103:We really enjoyed our riverside room near the pool. There was 10" of snow on the ground, yet we had no trouble navigating the complex by car and on foot. The rooms are totally dated, but that's why we got it so cheap! It was roomy, comfortable, and cleaner than most I've ever stayed in. I stepped outside in my bathrobe to photograph the early morning river. It was amazing! Complimentary breakfast and a drink at the bar lured us to stick around the hotel more than we would have otherwise. It was close enough to downtown and really friendly staff had excellent recommendations for food and fun.

Review 104:the room, furniture and decor are in need of updating.

Review 105:we loved the room with the kitchen and the sitting area. We had dinner in our room and were able to sit and relax afterward on the sofa while watching tv and the fireplace. So very much better than trying to relax on the bed! We will definitely return our way back home in April!

Review 106:The old TV in the courtyard room should be updated. The atmosphere in the restaurant for dinner is not that great.

Review 107:The riverfront room I had the first few nights was way more updated with new TV etc. I really liked the breakfast and the server there. It was a real meal and a great place to stay on the Wi-Fi and get some work done. I also liked that a complete breakfast was really free. Also free beer in lounge each day was cool.

Review 108:The pull out bed was horrible I loved everything else but you could feel the springs some additional padding at least would be nice. I tossed and turned both nights!! Also it took 20 plus minutes to fill the bath tub up only half way the water pressure was poor!!

Review 109:Loved that there was a little kitchen I was not expecting that & the amount of space was great as well!!!

Review 110:The free (included) buffet was over run. Maybe putting the food near the entrance and rearranging the tables so people are not standing and walking though the tables while people eat. Also , a self serve buss station would help staff keep up and give a better experience. We felt like we were in the way the whole time. The function of the whole program was flawed. I know it was free but if it opens you up to negative feedback how much is it actually costing .

Review 111:Very clean updated rooms. Quiet with friendly staff. The mattress really helped my back after driving all day .

Review 112:Toaster in breakfast room is a single cheap slow toaster. One of those $9.99 models. It is a real constraint at the breakfast buffet plus does not really toast, just takes a long time to warm up the bread.

Review 113:Good value. Clean and comfortable. There is a really nice city park a few blocks away that links to the Deschutes River Trail. Lovely for running or a bike ride.

Review 114:At check in the girl said that we did not have a reservation. Kept insisting it was booking.com's fault. Other staff member finally pointed out that she was looking at the wrong name(s). Still would not take accountability. Did not like her superior thinking attitude at all. Met friends there. They booked because we did, but thru Kayak. Very nice room for the money. They actually had a nice suite. We had only one chair to sit in. Two of us. Dirty room. Very tired motel all in all. Breakfast food was far below average for a free breakfast buffet. Saw 75% of the people leave their food on the plate...especially the eggs. High priced stay at a very tired motel. Will not return.

Review 115:It served the purpose of a place to be.

Review 116:People walked by our room to stand and look at the river, but we were on the ground floor so it's to be expected.

Review 117:Room was very clean and comfortable. View of river was wonderful. River was 15 feet from room with short trail to edge. Grounds are well kept and very forest-like.

Review 118:bed a little squishy, but much better than many places. Wifi was a big slow, but not terrible.

Review 119:the hot tubs and pool were great, the river view was delightful, breakfast was good enough.

Review 120:Wireless internet is either dial-up or throttled down to the point where it's useless. An insult to call it "high speed." Water-saving toilets barely flush.

Review 121:Location. River view room was outstanding.

Review 122:Property showed some wear and tear with maintenance needed especially on outdoor stairs and carpeted walkways; need for replacement with newer and more durable surface. Breakfast buffet out of several food items & not prepared for at-capacity number of guests.

Review 123:Convenient, good value, comfortable with friendly, professional, skilled staff.

Review 124:I come thru Bend at least five times a year and I always stay at the shilo. The breakfast they provide is awesome and the pool was warm enough for my two year old to get in with me. The staff is always nice and helpful. I love this hotel.

Review 125:Ten dollar up charge for second weeknight stay. There was no explanation and places typically offer a slight discount for multiple nights, not on holidays or weekend. Also, there was no discount for seniors.

Review 126:Breakfast buffet was very good. The staff at check in and at breakfast were exceptionally friendly and helpful.

Review 127:My second room wasn't as nice. I had to change rooms because of a malfunctioning door knob. There were little things that were not working like light in lamp out, shower door difficult to slide, fireplace switch stuck. The room just wasn't as nice as I was expecting. And since I was inconvenienced by moving to another room I was half expecting a little bit of a discount in price for compensation.

Review 128:Staff was very nice and helpful. My first room had a very nice view of the river. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.

Review 129:The room was in need of updating. It felt like I was back in the 70's. The room we had was right next to the stairs and I could definitely hear every creaks and squeaks. Would not stay here again...

Review 130:Staff was friendly

Review 131:The bed was uncomfortable and ready for renewal. Breakfast was a shambles, one small 2 slot toaster to cater for more than 200 guests. The dining room had several booths down one side and each booth was occupied by 2 people! There needs to be a better use of space in order to accommodate the numbers staying. NO BOOTHS, more tables for 2, better set up of the self service foods to stop breakfast being a cattle market, more Staff to clear tables and of course more APPROPRIATE TOASTERS! Needless to say we didn't go back the next morning, opting to go to an independant cafe for a full cooked breakfast in more comfortable surroundings.

Review 132:Though the approach to the Room was pretty dishevelled,(carpet covered with stains and hallway quite dark and gloomy) the room itself was large and well appointed. The kitchen area had everything a family would require to self cater, all of it in pristine condition. Check in was speedy and appropriate information given, also vouchers for breakfast and discounts at the hotel restaurant. The evening meal at the restaurant, the same room as breakfast was to be served, was adequate without being great but we were well served by Derick who was very attentive. I've no doubt that this hotel caters for many but unfortunately it didn't do it for us.

Review 133:I was very pleased with everything. nice to look out and see the water fall and close to the pool. I was able to take my Yorkie with no problem. Will be back for sure.

Review 134:Air Conditioner noisy, no windows that you could open for fresh air. Rooms a little dark, always had to have lights on. Decor a bit old looking but very clean.

Review 135:Lay out and location of hotel, nice landscaping, great indoor and outdoor pools, quiet no traffic noise, good size room, friendly helpful staff, good breakfast

Review 136:Lack of services. Error on bill. 3 mistakes with our dinner order.

Review 137:Morning staff much more efficient and really cared about our experience. Food was great also!!

Review 138:Was very disappointed to get a "river view" room (for which I paid a premium) only to have a view of the lawn. The mattress was also only a slightly higher grade than that if a dorm mattress. Was definitely NOT worth what I paid!
