Reviews for Hotel Wendy Mar
Review 1:They open the gate late in the morning.
Review 2:It was really really clean! I was so impressed after staying many places in South America! Their breakfast was really nice also!
Review 3:The showers basically don't work. Certainly not the hot tap.
Review 4:Awesome location and the view over Lake Titicaca was brilliant. Spacious room and windows made best use of location. Very good breakfast
Review 5:slow wifi, sometimes not able to connect, but the staff is always there to help.
Review 6:Very nice staff, try to solve every problems; awesome continental breakfast with scramble eggs, pancakes with honey, milk, coffee, tea, fresh juice, various bread with jam and butter; new building and bright colors; big room with windows that can see the mountain and Lake Titikaka.
Review 7:-
Review 8:Our room was clean, we had a hot shower, and the hotel was close to the bus station and the port where the boats leave to isla del sol. The breakfast was really good compared to many other hostels I've been in.
Review 9:Wifi was a problem. Was only available in reception area at times. Was an issue for us as we needed to book accommodations in our next location, and we couldn't get wifi most of the time.
Review 10:Room was spacious, comfortable and clean. Breakfast was Ok. Close to everything. Staff did not speak English, but travel agency associated with hotel was able to help translate when needed.
Review 11:Staff don´t speak english at all. Not very strong Wi-fi connection in our room, but I think that it is standard in Bolivia.
Review 12:Really good breakfast, great selection. Nice staff. Great view of lake Titicaca from our room. Very good size of the room.
Review 13:It was our fault for not asking if there was a curfew but we stayed out late one night and they locked us out!
Review 14:This place is clean and the rooms are nicely decorated with views of the lake. After staying in more basic hostels this felt like a treat. We stayed in a twin the first two days, the shower had hot water. They kept our bags while we stayed at the Isla del Sol and then we stayed another two nights. This time we were in a double and the shower was only warm. The wifi didn't work in the room either time but we didn't mind because they offer free wifi almost everywhere in Copacabana. The staff were really nice and even though they don't speak English and our Spanish isn't very good, we managed to communicate fine.
Review 15:The major issue was that there was no cleaning in the room. We were 4 in a room with a single bathroom and after 2 nights, it was kind of bad. Don´t know if we could ask them to clean. If so, maybe they should leave a note or something.
Review 16:The breakfast was very good! It saved us some lunches! The hotel is very close to the pier. Staff is ok and has a nice living room on the first floor, with a tv and a lot of dvds. Overall, a very nice place!
Review 17:The internet sucked.. It only worked at the reception
Review 18:The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable; hot shower and even shampoo and soap for free. The best thing was the breakfast buffet which was plenty of delicious food like pancakes, scrambled eggs, marmelade, wheats, toast and different sorts of bread, orange juice, tea,...
Review 19:Wifi was poor and the breakfast was mediocre and in a very cold room.
Review 20:Clean and comfortable, hot shower. No heater in the room, but we were not cold. Location is good, few minutes walk to the main tourist street and the lake.
Review 21:Hot shower is something to wish for. The room was cold and blankets were as heavy as BLASTING MATS.
Review 22:staff did attempt to be helpful and in fact we're. Knowledge of English was nonexistent
Review 23:Uncomfortable beds and very poor WiFi, the WiFi zone/ sitting room didn't feel welcoming as it was often occupied by staff
Review 24:Very code to the square. The staff got us a doctor when we were sick.
Review 25:Internet did not work at all. Slightly overpriced, considering the comfort level when compared to other places we stayed in Bolivia.
Review 26:Nice breakfast. The shower didn't work at first, but it was fixed immediately after we mention it and it was warm, with ok pressure. The location was slightly removed from the main strip, but as a result, it was a quiet at night. Clean and comfortable enough.
Review 27:Breakfast is great. The staff are nice. Bus station and the pier to the Sun Island are around, less than 5 minute walk distance. You can have a hot shower, though the shower room is very small.
Review 28:no elevators, did not accept credit cards, hotel main doors locked from 11pm to 7am.
Review 29:close location to shops, restaurants, lake Titicaca, great breakfast
Review 30:Noisy, rooms have windows on corridor. Rude staff Very bad wifi, virtually not existent, we asked to used the computer but apparently had no internet connection. After the staff played games on it all day we checked and was working ok
Review 31:Only good things were breakfast and warmish shower
Review 32:- in the room there was no table or other things to put our stuff - the nice terrace on the roof neither had a chair nor a table
Review 33:- the breakfast with fruits - the view over the lake - the nice and helpful staff - the spacy rooms - the room and the bath where always clean - the beds where very comfortable - the location is perfect, because not far from everything (bus, port, lake, main square)
Review 34:Really poor wifi almost non existent most of the time. Very expensive.
Review 35:Excellent breakfast. Nice views but no first line. Really close to the bus stop. Hot shower
Review 36:It was a five minute walk to the main town area with all the restaurants and bars etc, and ten minutes for boats to Isla del Sol. The staff were friendly and breakfast was amazing, so much great choice. The room was nice too.
Review 37:Intermittent wifi. No hot water for showers, but that appears to be standard in most Bolivian hotels/hostels.
Review 38:Good location near the lake front, great breakfast variety, comfortable beds.
Review 39:shower was ok but they have put down rubber mats due to others' comments re: shocks.
Review 40:breakfast spread was very good for Bolivia (fruit, yoghurt, different types of bread, jams, coffee (not instant), tea) Good wifi View from our room of lake was good Able to leave bags when we went to Isla Del Sol
Review 41:Location excellent, great views from the room. Bed comfortable, but need new / better pillows. Electrix shower is small and don't expect hot water, barely warm, but perfectly good for a few nights
Review 42:No lockers in room, lock on the main door is not the best and hot water is not consistent on the shower.
Review 43:It is located at 10minutes from the port and 5 minutes from the cathedral and 2 minutes from where the busses will drop you off. Breakfast is good. Staffi is nice and very helpful. Room is clean and comfortable.
Review 44:Cleaning was basic and the general maintenance is being let slip eg sheets clean, blankets not so. The staff didn´t speak much English. The breakfast lady was attentive, but the reception staff weren´t. We didn´t get a receipt on leaving despite asking for it.
Review 45:The hotel is near to the bus station and from our room we could see the lake. the beds were reasonably comfortable. There was a nice dog resident.
Review 46:Everything was good, so we have nothing negative report.
Review 47:Was in Copacabana during the 'beer drinking festival and battle of the bands', the first week in February. The Wendy Mar was clean, well run and the staff were always ready to assist whenever we had a request. The electric shower worked well enough, and gave us hot water every morning. The beds were comfortable, and we were never bothered by traffic noise. All in all, a nice hotel in Copacabana (the town has changed quite a bit since I was last here in 1991).
Review 48:Wifi did not reach the rooms. staff but didn't speak English well. But still was trying very well.
Review 49:Nice view, friendly staff, free wifi, good room
Review 50:No hot water for shower, and no wifi in the room. Very bad wifi connection, only work at the lobby on second days while we stayed.
Review 51:Location is convenience
Review 52:- Wi Fi was poor - problems with hot water: there was a built-in heater for the shower. That heater went off after a few minutes of showering
Review 53:- excellent view from the balcony - cleanliness - good breakfast
Review 54:Staff were more interested in playing computer games/watching television, wifi was so slow nothing could be done
Review 55:Hot showers, relatively new facilities, good breakfast
Review 56:Poor wifi, No lift access but they helped with my suitcase Bed sheets, covers and towels old and not clean
Review 57:Location close to Main Street and bus stop Good breakfast
Review 58:There were a lot of stairs to contend with which was tough at that altitude but this is the same in lots of places in Bolivia
Review 59:Comfortable spacious room, shower worked really well and there were no electric shocks at all, fantastic view over the lake, breakfast had lots of choice, Wifi worked really well
Review 60:Unreliable staff - We asked the staff if we could leave at 6.30 am and they said yes. Next day at 6.30 am there was no one and everything closed. We had to wait 20 minutes and barely made it to our bus without any breakfast
Review 61:- showers were okay
Review 62:No negatives
Review 63:Rooms were comfortable and spacious. Water bottles provided on arrival which was lovely. Awesome breakfast buffet with lots to choose from. Great location and awesome restaurant recommendation for dinner. Loved our stay thanks.
Review 64:The hotel is in a good location just a short walk from the main area and the water. Our room was very spacious. Breakfast was excellent...lovely pancakes and the freshest banana bread I've ever had. Would recommend.
Review 65:Nice hotel with views over the lake. Room was warm in the afternoon sun which was nice. Breakfast was the best breakfast I've had in the 9 months travelling in South America. Banana bread, pancakes and syrup, fresh fruit. Makes a nice change from the usual buns and jam. Wifi was ok. Friendly staff. Would recommend staying here.
Review 66:Introverted personnel. Breakfast not ready at indicated time. You can get much better value for money.
Review 67:Clean rooms, warm shower, good breakfast. Safe choice.
Review 68:WiFi was a bit hit and miss but so is most internet in Bolivia.
Review 69:Amazing view over lake Titicaca, you can enjoy the sunset from your room. Large clean rooms and hot showers. Good breakfast. Friendly and helpful family run hotel. Short walk to town and close to bus stops.
Review 70:Our experience was quite different to many others. Our room was warm -- we had afternoon sun to heat it up and was warm all night. We had plenty of blankets. The shower was not super hot but adequate. The wifi worked. Breakfast was one of the best we have had-- plenty of fresh fruit and cereal. Bread of course, plus the best banana bread I have had in years.
Review 71:The shower was a little cramped, but the water was hot!
Review 72:Our very comfortable and cosy room. It was spacious, warm and bright. We felt safe, were close to everything in town and had a fantastic view of the lake. Staff were friendly and responsive to any requests, although their English is limited, but we muddled through. It was a quiet haven after a hectic week of travel.
Review 73:No hot water despite asking clearly. Was given key to next room for use of shower. Staff scarcely spoke or understood English. Wi-fi was a bother to get and stay connected to. No elevator - matters at high altitude and when due to no phone for enquiring needing to go back and forth to reception.
Review 74:Short walk into main drag - two blocks, yet well away from bustle. View of lake from second floor, though very limited due to other buildings.
Review 75:Shower wasn't hot. We got our laundry done but they washed it with lots of towels so everything came back with fluff!
Review 76:The hotel had a great location & the room was very spacious with a tv & a comfy bed with lots of blankets! Breakfast was very good.
Review 77:Wifi was spotty. Water from tap very cold (no hot water tap available), but the shower is hot.
Review 78:Mario, the reception person, is very kind and helpful. Great breakfast. Excellent location.
Review 79:The shower was very suspect. As we arrived we weren't allowed into the room as they were working on something in the bathroom. Turned out they were putting rubber matting and tape on all metal objects in the shower to stop electric shocks (something that had been mentioned on reviews previously). This worked as no shocks were had, but the shower was a kettle type shower and needed to be on minimum flow to be hot enough. Cold in the room on the first night. We asked for a heater and got charged extra for it.
Review 80:The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice; hot pancakes, fruits, cereal, coffee tea etc. Room had great view if the sea from the window.
Review 81:--Wifi is spotty (everywhere in Copacabana)
Review 82:Pros: --comfortable beds with warm blankets --amazing views from top floors --electric showers with limitless hot showers with great pressure --Decent free breakfast --Immaculately clean
Review 83:Wifi didn't work
Review 84:Good value for money and just off the "main" street so a close walk to restaurants and the lake! Rooms were clean and breakfast was very good - with delicious crumpets!
Review 85:Wifi was poor (as it is in all Bolivia)
Review 86:A good place to stay in Copacobana. Showers were hot but water pressure was very low. A safe place with good staff and good breakfast.
Review 87:The suicide shower. We could get it warm-hot if we spent long enough fiddling around with the pressure. It is a little overpriced also - over £10 each per night when we'd paid less than that in Peru.
Review 88:The room was comfortable, spacious and clean. The breakfast was amazing (multiple varieties of breads, as well as cakes and pancakes, cereal, yoghurt, and fruit) wifi worked well apart from uploading photos
Review 89:Very central hotel, relaxed feel to town.
Review 90:The central location, the cleaniliness of the rooms & common areas, and the delicious & generous breakfast
Review 91:Fabulous views, comfortable beds, kept our luggage while we went to Isla Del Sol for two nights
Review 92:The wifi was not very good and the water never got very hot.
Review 93:Breakfast was great and a nice view of the lake from our window.
Review 94:Very big hotel so not human relations Like small b&b
Review 95:Big room and view and they help US to camcel one night
Review 96:Very poor internet connection. Luke warm low pressure showers. Pretty expensive compared to the other options in town.
Review 97:The breakfast was very good
Review 98:Bad WiFi connection: only in the reception with very loud TV
Review 99:Very beautiful view over the lake from our 4 bed room
Review 100:the water in the shower could be warmer
Review 101:hotel staff very friendly, breakfast buffet for bolivia very versatile, free wlan and a good location
Review 102:A bit expensive, there are better and cheaper options!
Review 103:Great location, near the lake and busstation
Review 104:Showers were not hot
Review 105:Friendly staff
Review 106:Amazing breakfast!
Review 107:Wifi is a little poor in the rooms
Review 108:Lovely clean hotel with a great buffet breakfast
Review 109:Staff helpful when I was sick despite language barrier. Wifi strong. Room bright and airy.
Review 110:Good location. Surprising to see complementary bottles of water upon arrival
Review 111:Nothing
Review 112:The location was really good! The staff was extremelly friendly, the breakfast was awesome! Everything went really smooth. Super reccomend
Review 113:pay forms.
Review 114:staff
Review 115:Clean, comfortable, professionally run.
Review 116:Wifi wasn't always working
Review 117:Breakfast was excellent. Spacious room with large bed.
Review 118:showers are electric kettle - ok but you can never get great pressure (still warm though)
Review 119:Easy location, great breakfast, friendly staff, wifi worked in room, comfortable bed
Review 120:The Wi-Fi was pretty slow. The shower stall was tiny, and the bathroom was very chilly, making for a rather unpleasant shower experience.
Review 121:The breakfast was decent, even included sliced bread and a toaster, which I had not seen elsewhere in Bolivia. The common areas and our room were very clean. The view from our room was fantastic. The staff were very friendly and welcoming.
Review 122:The room was not cleaned properly - garbage from previous occupants was left on the floor and bathroom was not cleaned properly. On the upper floor there was no internet connection. Breakfast was poor for a hotel - butter&jam and some fruit.
Review 123:Nice view from the upper floor. Close to the buses.
Review 124:Wifi didn't work anywhere in the hotel, showers were freezing cold, (although, the nice man on reception did come and fix it on the 2nd day), breakfast wasn't great.
Review 125:Comfortable beds, central location
Review 126:Some sort of meat hanging on the clothes line in the centre yard, glad they don't serve dinner
Review 127:Very clean spacious rooms, very reasonable prices, got a good night sleep
Review 128:Don't touch metal elements when taking shower: danger of electric shock.
Review 129:Looks modern in comparison to other Latin American ho(s)tels we stayed at. Copacabana is a small town: located close to the main street.
Review 130:Quite expensive in comparison to other hotels in the area. Shower wasonly lukewarm, a common thing in this part of the world.
Review 131:Big windows in the room, great breakfast (fruit, yogurt, muesli, pancakes, cakes, etc)
Review 132:Very poor breakfast, bad ratio price for quality (there are plentychiper hotels), very and very cold in number.
Review 133:Building and interior of rooms is good as for Copacabana.
Review 134:- lack of room when we are in teh hotel - we must to wait for room - unfriendly staff, lack of information - simple breakfast: only marmolada, bred and not fresh juice
Review 135:There was only lukewarmish water and the internet didn't work on the 3rd floor where our room was so we had to walk down to the lobby to use the internet. It seemed we were paying Peru prices for a Bolivian hotel.
Review 136:Our room had a great view of the lake. The place is up the street from the buses.
