Reviews for Sawasdee Village
Review 1:The hotel is in a beautiful green tropical garden, shame it's not possible to relax in it without being sevearly bitten by vicious mosquitos; there are hundreds of them everywhere! Also, I thought the hotel was a bit overpriced; the little chalets we stayed in were very dark and dated in a desparate need of refurbishment. Shame
Review 2:Good location, close to Kata beach (approx 10 min walk), which I thought was the best from all the beaches around. Fab breakfast, great variety of cold and hot food cooked in fornt of you whilst you wait Feels more safe as the hotel is on a hill so during the tsunami few years ago the hotel was not affected at all.
Review 3:The mosquitoes in this place are ridiculously hungry. I had more than 10 bites just sitting down for 10 minutes. Which I know is out of their control and bound to happen.
Review 4:I loved everything. I liked how secluded we were from the rest of the kata beach area and how exotic the resort is. The breakfast and pool are worth the money let alone how much they spoil you with the rest of their facilities.
Review 5:Trust me! In every respect all elements associated with the resort were excellent. It is clear to me management and staff read prior feedback and word hard to eliminate all shortcomings. I will go back, again and again.
Review 6:We stayed one night the weather was awful but the staff made it !!!they were so polite ( like all thai people). The only thing for me was we arrived in an evening and went straight to eat I got a prawn dish and it smelt awfull, I couldn't eat it!! But my god did breakfast the next morning make up for it stunning service and what a variety of things to eat, amazing!
Review 7:The only thing was the amount of Mosquitos. Although the hotel try to tackle it and provide balm and lotion to protect you, the amount of water at the hotel and in the villas mean the Mosquitos love it there.
Review 8:We loved everything about this hotel! It's paradise in the centre of Phuket. If your budget allows it, book the villa. The rooms are incredible with two floors and a 'personal assistant'. I honestly cannot stress enough how great this hotel is and how helpful all the staff are. We had room service, dinner in the thai restaurant and breakfast at the hotel and both the food and variety were excellent for all three.
Review 9:This is the forth and last hotel we booked for our trip to Thai, and itis a terrible ending to our journey. We had a Garden Deluxe Twin Roomand the room is very small and dark and depressing (no window!), itactually smells like mould! As it is on the pool side and with noventilation at all, you can imagine how damp it is (there is mildew onthe back of the bathroom door). We rather stay out of our room but themosquitoes!!! Yes they feasted on my legs and arms. We did not enjoy theroom even a bit, wonder how they can charge over 3,200 for this room(facilities are old and need some updates too...)! It's not apleasant stay at all, especially compared with another hotel we bookednear Kata beach for only half the price! We would not recommend thishotel to anyone, if you what you want is a sunny tropical holiday.
Review 10:The pool area is very shaded by trees so its hard to get a good sunbathing spot. The pool bar was quite expensive and the garden deluxe rooms are very small and need updating. The outside area of the room is also enclosed and shaded
Review 11:staff were very friendly
Review 12:This was the perfect place to stay to end our holiday. Staff are tentative and the hotel grounds are stunning. It's very close to local bars, shops and restaurants. I just wished I could have stayed longer.
Review 13:This resort is absolutely beautiful, their attention to detail really shines through. They have every amenity you could possibly need and the rooms are very comfortable! Staff is amazing! If possible go for the villa-you won't regret it!!
Review 14:I loved everything about Sawasdee Village. In my opinion it lived up to the picters taken by other people staying at the hotell that I saw before I booked my stay there. The staff are very nice and service oriented. The resort is clean and is very nice decorated. The only negative thing (which wasn't a big problem) is not all the staff could speak fluent english. I learned to ask my questions to the receptionist who checked me in. She seem to work only at night. She was very nice, helpful and spoke fluent english and could answer my questions.
Review 15:I loved how relaxing and tranquil it was. The staff all were lovely and helpful. The food was delicious in the restaurant and the drinks were nice. Dui was the driver for me and he was great! I would defiantly stay here again. It was about 15min walk from beach but worth it for the quiet. Very Thai style which I loved.
Review 16:At check in I was charged a higher price than Booking.com quoted. At check out, I was told a mistake was made and I would receive a refund (maybe) in 14 days. Meanwhile they demanded that I sign a receipt for the original price. I asked them to reverse the first charge but they said it was not possible. I think this is a scam and a very poor way to do business with people who are traveling. Please review this and help me recover the 23,600 Bhat that I was overcharged.
Review 17:We stayed at this hotel for a two night stop over before we travelled to Phi Phi Island. The hotel was brilliant - we had a swim up room which had its own private pool and bar. The bed was SO comfy and the room had absolutely everything you could need. The food in the restuarant was good and a very reasonable price. The lady serving us was a bit rude though and took my starter away as I was still eating it! The breakfast service was very good though and the food great. Pool is also lovely and a good temperature. I would 100% go back here.
Review 18:We had some rose petals on the bed when we arrived and we were so excited that we ended up ...doing stuff... on them because we thought it was so romantic. The next day we got an expensive bill from the staff after our room got cleaned saying we had ruined sheets? My boyfriend ended up getting the "ruined" sheets and we took them to a cleaner - good as new and paid only 40 baht for the cleaning. The sheets had only three red stains from the rose petals... The laundry lady said it was easy-peasy to get the stains off. So be careful not to mess up anything! That was the only minus.
Review 19:Absolutely loved it. Will visit again ! Beautiful and the staff was very nice! Amazing breakfast.
Review 20:There was nothing not to like about this place, just stunning!!
Review 21:Loves the rooms, the pool, the gardens, the quietness, the location, the food, the staff!
Review 22:Nothing
Review 23:The resort is absolutely beautiful - an island of tranquility. The moment you step foot into Sawasdee Village you can feel every muscle unwind. The staff are very helpful and the door staff are there to help you with all your travel needs.
Review 24:-all the rooms looks like a bunch of boxes;very tigny you have to jump from the bed direct into the toilet -full of rust;old furniture and DAMPNESS -the restaurant has nothing to do with the hotel presentation;bed quality and service
Review 25:nothing!!!
Review 26:Loved the pool, the rooms, the food, the gardens, the whole resort was a great surprise and a hidden gem that you didnt expect when you arrive. I will definitely be coming back here.
Review 27:The hotel is getting old, and it start to need work. The rooms are dark, that is due the fact that all the rooms face the main areas of the hotel on the ground floor so to have privacy the shades need to be close all the time. Food is ok but nothing special. The staff is mixed of nice and not so friendly.
Review 28:The green around the hotel
Review 29:One massive cockroach - never seen anything so big. I have a smaller cat! Not a complaint, though. A tropical holiday wouldn't be the same without interesting wildlife.
Review 30:The hotel was lovely, walking through the trees to get to the room a delight. The pool and pool bar perfect. Food in the restaurant was nice. Staff were extremely good - couldn't do enough for us. My partner fell and broke her arm, the hotel took us to the hospital, and waited for us to make sure we could get back. Looked after us very well and even gave her a bouquet and card the next day to say get well soon - how nice!
Review 31:Mosquitoes on the many, many ponds in the hotel that otherwise would not be so many... they take away from the experience of enjoying the facilities at night.
Review 32:Excellent breakfast and loved the little details like the lounge close to reception. Also, fantastic pool!
Review 33:In comparison to other places I stayed in Thailand the hotel, spa and restaurant is a bit pricey. It could be a little cheaper. The location is around 15-20mins walk to the beach. The immediate area around the hotel isn't the best.
Review 34:The grounds of the hotel are fantastic, the swimming pool nice and overall a great place to relax. The spa is very good as is the restaurant attached to the hotel. The rooms are small but comfortable. There is an hourly shuttle bus between the hotel and the beach, the beach itself is great. The staff are very helpful.
Review 35:Leaving!
Review 36:Everything! A gem in old Chiangmai Mai town. So tranquil after the fast pace of the town. The staff are really pleasant and helpful. Good breakfast.
Review 37:No negatives, only an advisory note for anyone susceptible to insect bites to consider this aspect due to the vegetation in the resort. However the hotel are very good at eliminating it as much possible.
Review 38:We stayed at the Sawasdee Village Resort for 10 days & this beautiful resort made the holiday for us. Everything from the authentic Thai Style, uniqueness & the hotel staff were first class. We even had a complimentary free upgrade to the breathtaking Baray Villa's for the final two nights. Would recommend this hotel without a shadow of a doubt!
Review 39:some mosquito issues, but to no fault of the hotel - this is just normal for tropical climates - get some mosquito repellent.
Review 40:Excellent layout - great attention to details - everything is well thought and makes the Sawasdee village look like a fairy tale come true. Super-friendly staff, great food and romantic atmosphere complement an excellently designed landscape. Totally recommend and will be back whenever I can :).
Review 41:Kata beach and in general Phuket, l was really disappointed by what l found, bars, clubs, bit.....s, and nothing more. Forget the nature and the postcards images.
Review 42:The village and its staff are really amazing, they took care of us in all the possible ways.
Review 43:It's a bit of a walk from the beach, but the hotel does provide shuttle service two and from on the hour so this was not much of an issue for me.
Review 44:The staff, the room and the meals were absolutely fantastic. This place is truly an oasis, a quiet getaway from the throngs and chaos in Patong. Candles and lighting at night make this place very serene. The foliage and soft running water helps drown out the noise of the city or streets.
Review 45:Quite pricey
Review 46:Lovely staff, beautiful setting and not far from all the commotion of town
Review 47:Staff were amazingly friendly and helpful
Review 48:Shower was sort of dirty and the bathroom had a sewage and smokey odor.
Review 49:Loved the grounds. Beautifully kept. Location was nice too. Pool was gorgeous
Review 50:The villa was outstanding and we loved our time at the resort
Review 51:The room is too small and the facilities are old, especially the bathroom.
Review 52:The garden and the pool are fantastic Thai style.
Review 53:Unique style, highly comfortable, good location
Review 54:That I left
Review 55:Amazing & beautiful place
Review 56:too many insects!!! bleakfast needs variaty. redtaurant staff could use some smile.
Review 57:lookz very pretty...
Review 58:Character and decor
Review 59:Breakfast poor
Review 60:People that travel with their annoying kids!
Review 61:Everything was awesome! Beautiful pool, rooms, breakfast and staff. Get the Baray villa!
Review 62:Our bed was amazing! A beautiful king sized bed with soft linen and a perfect firm mattress. We slept like babies the 3 nights we were there.
Review 63:Loved everything!
Review 64:I loved every second of being at the resort and could not find a single fault. Everything was perfect.
Review 65:Rooms require lighting on at all times, as tropical growth shieldsmuch of the natural light. Rooms rather small with little storagespace for bags etc.
Review 66:Authentic Thai experience, onsite spa, onsite Thai cooking classexperience with Chef, amazing themed swimming pool, customer lounge, with internet access, numerous external seating and photo opportunitiesinside resort. Location to beach and shops, ability to book tours.
Review 67:- Spa services were average
Review 68:- General Atmosphere - Entire resort had a lovely scent indoors/outdoors - Resort Restaurant had good quality food - 5 Mins away from Kata Beach
Review 69:The rooms were very small but clean and to upgrade was too expensive. The mosquitos were in full force but this is the case anywhere in Phuket so bring your big repellant.
Review 70:The hotel felt like you were in a tropical rainforest jungle and was very traditional Thai.
Review 71:The room was small and looking a little tired and worn.
Review 72:Loved the gardens and pool... very charming. Great shower and appreciated the smart TV and dvd player in the room. Complimentary items also very generous... 4 water per day and insect lotion. Staff lovely.
Review 73:This hotel is Absoloutely fantastic. I cannot talk highly enough about it. We have stayed here a few times and it's the 'little' things that keep them above the rest. We were given a gift on arrival for staying here again. We got the room we asked for and there were petals on the bed. Honestly you feel like your the only people here. We will be back soon.
Review 74:The bathroom smelt damp and needs a bit more ventilation - but bearable. You need to have your curtains closed unless you don't mind passers by seeing into your room so the room can seem dark during the day.
Review 75:Staff are really friendly and efficient. Nice choice for breakfast. Lovely pool and hotel grounds very architecturally Thai. Great location - easy to catch transport, close to tailors, money changer, restaurants and bars, massage parlors.
Review 76:The hotel itself is starting to show some wear and the plumbing system while effective did have a few issues.
Review 77:The sawasdee is so beautiful you almost never want to leave. The food and service were both excellent. The location is peaceful, slightly removed from kata although still within walking distance. The central pool with swim up bar felt luxurious and room service was fast and tasty. Breakfast was served at a good temperature and a good variety of food was offered. I would stay here again.
Review 78:The rooms were small for the price. We had two people in a room meant for three. I couldn't imagine having 3 people crammed in there.
Review 79:Sawasdee Village was like a little tranquil oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the streets. Staff and service were great and Kata Beach was a great location.
Review 80:We stayed in a standard double room and we thought it was a bit too small. There was hardly any place to put our luggage. I believe a better choice would be the big suites. They are very spacious and worth the price.
Review 81:It is a wonderful place to stay in Kata Beach. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere is great, the decoration is simply awesome!
Review 82:The jungle setting, the restaurant was fabulous & cheap, staff could not have been more friendly & helpful. The pool area was good, happy hour cocktails excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 83:Rooms are small, too few drawers and space for clothes. (Would recommend soft luggage so it can be shoved out of the way). Not enough room for sufficient sunbeds around pool.
Review 84:Very pleasant staff Beautiful gardens and clever layout Excellent restaurant for both breakfast (buffet) and dinner (table service). Hourly beach transfer is useful (15 minute walk otherwise).
Review 85:Great facilities. The only thing that could have made it better was if the pool was heated. On cooler days this would have made the pool more usable - and other places we stayed did have this.
Review 86:Excellent friendly service. At one time we lost a mobile phone in a taxi and the hotel staff helped to call the taxi company and get the phone back. Service was always friendly!
Review 87:We were greeted by great staff Good English skills Clean Well kept Exotic It's pretty busy around that area and coming back into the sawasdee village was like walking into a tropical jungle it was great you really felt tucked away and in your own world. The place is so well kept with water running throughout the resort and fantastic trees that I've only seen in the movies which look so cool.
Review 88:Phuket itself is overdeveloped and rather gritty. If this resort were located somewhere a bit more serene, then it would be perfect. But that's the fault of Phuket and not the actual hotel.
Review 89:Loved the Villas. Absolutely superb and stunning. If you can splurge, by all means do so. You won't regret it.
Review 90:The rooms seemed abit small.. For deluxe room.. No room to move when two suitcases there.. Mosquitos were quite bad.
Review 91:Loved the setting & chill out areas everywhere the village is beautiful & the staff where helpful & very friendly & accommodating.
Review 92:Humidity in the rooms, little space, too dark inside, bathrooms not good. Villas are OK. Mosquito HUGE issue.
Review 93:Nice place, Thai style, good location, wonderful garden and restaurant.
Review 94:Mosquito's are everywhere as the hotel is all built around water but to be fair its not the hotels fault and they do everything possible to help with spray, nets and balms in all rooms.
Review 95:Staff were excellent and the hotels grounds are amazing! Great pool and facilities, would definitely stay again.
Review 96:The breakfast is very simple. There are mosquitoes in the late afternoon/evening, but a good repellent might be the solution. The size of rooms is not adequate to the quality of the hotel.
Review 97:Sawasdee Village is certainly one of the most authentic and beautiful hotels I ever stayed in my life. My wife and I had a chance to taste the delicious food served during the dinner at the nice restaurant. The pool is also beautiful. The hotel's location is very convenient, about 10 minutes walking distance from Kata beach.
Review 98:The suite rooms are prone to getting mosquitoes; this didn't affect us but did the other couple we were travelling with. The nearby beach is very popular and full; and used by a lot of other nearby hotels. Brings back memories of Italy and its rows of sunbeds.
Review 99:We stayed in a luxury two level suite with swim access to a main pool reserved only for the suite rooms. This exclusive pool had its own pool bar. The suite was amazing with all you could want spread across two sumptuous levels with a connecting double height window area. Shame we did not stay longer in this private oasis. Service at the hotel was friendly and food excellent.
Review 100:Everything was perfect
Review 101:All the little extras were a nice touch-books in the bathroom, mosquito repellent and balm incase you get bitten, flat screen tv with access to the internet was great. The customer service in this hotel was excellent.
Review 102:Rooms were pretty small, but that didn't matter too much as you don't spend any time in there. There just wasn't really space to put luggage/clothes.
Review 103:The entire ambience of the grounds from the trees, to the smells and sounds as you walked through. There was so much put into the details and it was noticable right away.
Review 104:Sawasdee Village was amazing - a quiet, tranquil hideaway in the midst of busy Phuket. The staff and service were excellent as was the food. A magic place which we can't fault. Will definitely return.
Review 105:the distance to the Kata beach is a bit long, may cost 10 mins at least by walk
Review 106:the condition is very nice and Thai style, our delay check-out request has been reached as well
Review 107:Room a bit small but loved the huge bed!
Review 108:Have just come back from home from Sawasdee Village and we both had such a wonderful time there. Staff are just amazing, resort is peaceful and relaxing, food is amazing at restaurant for both breakfast and dinner and close to everything. Would definitely recommend!
Review 109:They couldnt do foreign exchange! Would have like a gym facility or yoga, meditation.
Review 110:Absolutely everything. I loved the peace and tranquility, lovely atmosphere. The staff were fabulous. They were very friendly and efficient.
Review 111:Staff was rude, did not want to help, had attitude issues, and spoke very little English. Mosquito repellent used makes you dizzy and nauseated and does not actually prevent the mosquitoes from coming into the room, we suffered many mosquito bites. Breakfast the same every day. Location is pretty boring.
Review 112:first impression was good
Review 113:Lots of moskitos, however it is normal because of the dense vegetation (every day the hotel sprays the hotel to eliminate them)
Review 114:The staff were trully pleasant and the hotel is really very beautiful
Review 115:nothing
Review 116:Everything was perfect...staff, place, the food in the restaurant , SPA, swim pool - everything. Lovely place for honeymoon and relax Highly recommended this place
Review 117:The bad: While the Baray Villa is big - its getting on in age. Not allthe features were usable. For example we wanted to watch movies - therewas no dvd player - only a I-Mac computer, but the sound was not runthrough the tv.. They supplied a small set of speakers. You can'thear the speakers in the bed. Also all movies were just fakes - so thequality was terrible. Mosquitos - its true they are in the rooms andyou're going to have some trouble with them. The staff will come inand spray your room though - that may help.. But then you havepesticided sprayed everywhere. Also this hotel looks cool inside, butyou only need to step outside on the street to realize you are not inparadise. Finally - the price on booking.com did not include the 17% taxthat we paid extra on the price of the room. So the price worked out toabout $330 aussie dollars per night.. Its not worth that.
Review 118:This hotel gets a good rap for its unique grounds - and they arespectacular. Its like a tropical water paradise inside the grounds -beautiful pools, waterfalls, pool bar, and there are other pretty waterfeatures all over. The breakfast is ok - not amazing. They do make smallchanges with it everyday. We stayed in the Baray Villa - and we likedthe size of the room and there were 2 bathrooms, the room also hadfootspas at the end of the bed. Phenomenally huge bed, it was thebiggest bed I've ever slept in! The staff were also lovely uponarrival and when we needed anything. Location is not bad - 10 minutewalk to the beach or the hotel will provide a transfer hourly. Cheaplaundry on the street anywhere
Review 119:Only mosqitoes but the hotel provides products to make your stay more pleasant.
Review 120:Excellent hospitality from staff and great command of the english language. Great breakfast selection. They offer a free shuttle to Kata Beach every hour. Would definitely reccommend this hotel, good value for money.
Review 121:No free luggage storage if you go to multi-days excursion. Spa inside inthe hotel costs 4 times more than outside.
Review 122:Hotel's territory was so beautiful with all its nature, waterfalls, fountains and thai architecture. Staff was quite friendly. Breakfast -delicious. Rooms' interior and facilities were, as it's on thephoto, excellent. Even in spite of its a little bit small size. Massagesalon near the entry to the hotel made my days, really.
Review 123:deluxe garden rooms small and felt like living in a rabbit hutch----no privacy outside the room and very dark.not good for the price.
Review 124:beautiful gardens, comfortable and special dining room, lovely atmostphere, nice pool.
Review 125:Location was not perfect.
Review 126:Luxury and style of the hotel, spacious rooms, exelent aircon, good food, very friendly and polite staff, quiet. But we stayed in Baray Villa, which is the most expensive accommodation in Sawasdee Village.
Review 127:There wasn't anything to complain about. A stress free and very relaxing stay for us.
Review 128:The little garden and beautiful ponds that wind right through the hotel make the place so peaceful and cozy. The pool, restaurant, day spa and rooms are all well kept and beautifully presented. It was a short walk up the road to markets and nore restuarants and when you wanted to relax it was a quick walk back to the hotel. Or a cheap taxi fee down to the beach. I will definitely be back.
Review 129:We spent nice days at Baray villa number 210 as we celebrated wedding unniversary. All staff was very kindly and everything was perfectly. I recommanded to stay at baray villa if You like something specially.
