Reviews for Central Loop Hotel
Review 1:A perfect location close to the sub and key attractions. The room is not big but has everything you might need: coffee-mashine, fridge and even a microwave. I stayed there for two days and should say that it was an excellent combination of price and quality.
Review 2:The bathroom door has a glass opaque door so not very private
Review 3:Friendly great location but no kettle to make tea being English we start the day with tea and toast
Review 4:Great price, great location. After a cold walk through Chicago all day we went back the hotel to enjoy the bar/restaurant in the downstairs level. The food was delicious. The front desk was so friendly and accommodating. Will definitely be back next time we travel to Chicago.
Review 5:Only chair in the room was an office chair. There was not a comfortable big chair in the room to watch TV. The cleaning people did not leave clean towels as requested.
Review 6:Staff, especially Jonah was extremly helpful!
Review 7:Weak shower pressure
Review 8:The staff were super helpful and friendly. Large comfortable room with a great view. Computer and printing facilities for use. Nice pub next door.
Review 9:We were supposed to have a king bed but the bed was actually two twins pushed together. For as much money as I paid for a single night they should of been able to afford a king size bed. It was extremely uncomfortable.
Review 10:At night there is some big construction-type noise, this was going on last time, a couple years ago, we stayed there so it may not be construction noise. The duvet cover is made of some silk-like material and within half an hour in bed it slipped off of us.
Review 11:Even though they couldn't find our bookings.com reservation, the staff was friendly and capable and we got our room after 15 minutes. I also like the free filtered water on every floor.
Review 12:One staff member in particular was not the nicest. Very short with her answers when I asked for directions. I didn't like the view I had at all. Also, it would have been nice to know the additional deposit amount before my arrival so I could have been prepared.
Review 13:The location of the hotel and room was very nice. Most of the staff were very friendly and answered all of my questions. The room served it's purpose.
Review 14:Wish we knew the room contained a microwave and fridge when reviewing the amenities on their website. Would have liked a small safe in the room for valuables while touring the city.
Review 15:Comfortable mattress and pillows. Microwave and small refrigerator in room. Room small, but clean and pretty. Didn't need a room any larger for our excursion. Visited the bar at the end of our evening; great bar staff, good wine. Close to the attractions we enjoy: Art Museum, CSO, etc.
Review 16:The room had a very small and awkwardly placed TV and there was very little sunlight.
Review 17:The location was awesome - very convenient and central to everything. I also like that they have water stations on the floor. The room was clean, comfortable and had all the basics.
Review 18:The air conditioner isn't working at all!
Review 19:The staff are very friendly and nice. Plus, I liked it that they gave us a room on the 7th floor and we were able to see the beauty of Chicago. I would like to give credit to the staff who gave me a charger for my phone, which kept me from having to walk a couple blocks to get mine out of my car.
Review 20:small room and no breakfast included
Review 21:hotel was located right in the heart of Chicago. staff were very helpful in recommending things to do and see during our stay.
Review 22:They charged my credit card two days before check-out without telling me (I stayed 9 nights)
Review 23:Location is perfect, central and close to all the CTA lines. Complimentary coffee capsules are available so you can brew your coffee in your room. Purified water and bottles also available free of charge. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 24:Pull out bed looked like it had urine on the matress. My child slept on the floor. In addition, one of the bed legs was broke, therefore, I slept in an aqward position.
Review 25:Staff
Review 26:Rooms were small and not really clean.
Review 27:Location was alright, in the business section of time so it was very dead on weekend. Staff was courteous for the most part. Gym was open 24 hours.
Review 28:House keeping is very noisy during the morning, I woke up once they started knocking doors near me, doors are very closed to each other, rooms are very small
Review 29:I would have appreciated being notified in advance that there was a $25 charge for early check-in. Since I would have spend more than that occupying myself downtown, the charge wasn't unreasonable, but it should have been made clear at booking time and when I called the hotel.
Review 30:The location was extremely close both to Union Station, where my trains arrived and left from, and the Civic Opera House, where I had tickets and the reason for my visit.
Review 31:Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, great facilities (free self serve laundry, computers and printer, free water), central location, cheap rate (online well in advance)
Review 32:Even with the fact we were getting a "deal", it was very expensive for the size of the room. Couldn't fit much more than the bed and the tv.
Review 33:The location was amazing and incredibly convenient
Review 34:Room was with a little sunlight..
Review 35:Location, Restaurant located on first floor, Chilled water is available on every floor with bottles. Coffee machine at the room.
Review 36:Parking costs. Lack of tea & coffee in rooms
Review 37:Great location. Expensive parking and the only hotel in 16 we had to at for parking. Free water bottles provided on all floors but could have done with tea & coffee in the room. Comfortable bed & very clean. Nice bar & good food available.
Review 38:nothing that comes to mind
Review 39:this stay was at the end of a 4 week Europe - USA Business trip and I was all "hotelled out"! this was uncomplicated and refreshing! Staff where relaxed, great location, option to do your own laundry, breakfast at the pub next door chargeable back to your room etc.
Review 40:missed having a safe deposit box in my room price was high for the room
Review 41:the location was adequate for my purposes the room was clean and comfortable for one the staff was very good wifi was good too
Review 42:Staff not friendly and materialastic ...was raining out and when i asked for umbrella they said i have to buy it ....no breakfast at hotel and room toilet is not independent and it is right beside the bed which is horrible
Review 43:Room was good and gym also, location is perfect
Review 44:Bathroom was tight with limited space for 2 people. We requested extra pillow, second washcloth and hand towel.
Review 45:Location and staff excellent. Guest public areas fantastic. Pub breakfast great value, food and service good to excellent. Loved the free water bottles.
Review 46:Beware this is not disclosed on booking.com hotel will charge you a$50 checkin before 11 am, I would never have picked this hotel if Iknew this. I am disappointed in booking for not forcing hotel dodisclose this info
Review 47:Nothing stuff was rude when I pointed out I am a world traveler andnever has a hotel forced me to pay a $50 early checkin feee
Review 48:The beds weren't that comfortable and the room was a bit small, but it wasn't a problem. We weren't in our rooms long enough to matter. The walls are a bit thin so you can hear out into the hallways but we, thankfully, didn't have anyone loud in our hallway at night.
Review 49:We both enjoyed our stay at the Central Loop hotel. The location was perfect. We were in walking distance to almost everything that we wanted to do. The L is very close to the hotel as well, although I'm not sure which lines go out of it since we didn't use it while we were there. Plenty of food options within walking distance as well. Room was a bit small but was nice and clean. Great value for the money.
Review 50:Didn't like view from my room whivh was 520....
Review 51:I found staff most helpful especially MR Price who seemed genuinely interested in my stay and reasons for being in Chicago. The cool water and ice much appreciated. Club lounge very nice and thank you got boarding card printings facilities..
Review 52:Room was VERY small for the money ae spent on it. Had to walk sideways between foot of bed and wall to get to the other side. I would have liked to have had a microwave, mini fridge or at the very least an iron.
Review 53:Very clean, modern and up to date.
Review 54:Great hotel. Staff very helpful. Nice link to the Elephant & Castle pub, good food there. Also the guest lounge was really good, fast internet, computers and printers readily available. Drinks and snacks available all day, a real bonus. Lovely clean hotel, loved the cold water machines on each floor complete with re-usable bottles!
Review 55:The bed was way too soft and very uncomfortable. The carpet in the room may have been clean, but was so old, worn and dark I'd never walk barefoot on it.
Review 56:Free bottled water in the hallway by the elevator.
Review 57:Staff was amazing. Not gooey, just very helpful and friendly. Nice location, very nice hotel. Liked the convenience of the free cold water, and wifi. Big screen TV's. Would def stay there again, and would recommend to friends.
Review 58:Our window view was poor .. The bed was suppose 2 be a queen . It was 2 bed put together .. Totally unacceptable . Which meant u felt a dip in the middle of the mattress , the middle of the bed ..
Review 59:The staff was very nice & pleasant ..
Review 60:Location was great, room is very comfortable and the WiFi was excellent. Restaurants, Barnes & Nobles, shopping area was all withon walking distance. The Bean is 2 blocks away, the river is about 10 min walk, train station is 5 mins away.
Review 61:The absence of breakfast as part of the package. Information to this effect was not clear on the website when I accessed it.
Review 62:The efficient lift service and the warm reception by the staff.
Review 63:Perfect location! Staff was very helpful. Room was small but compact and comfortable. We enjoyed the restaurant and bar attached to the property. Free WiFi is a plus.
Review 64:Hotel could get a cosmetic lifting soon. Water flow in bathub is low.
Review 65:Free purified water at all the floors! Great location! Great value for the money! Free working Internet! Great location, very close to the Willis tower (2 blocs away)!
Review 66:Elevators were tricky and confusing along with the stairs. My bed was two twin beds pushed together.
Review 67:Free bottled water on every floor. Great location for travelers. Friendly staff, great help with valet.
Review 68:Small room, no view through the window.
Review 69:Clean, Great Location, Free wifi, Free printing, great value for the price, coffee maker, restaurant in place.
Review 70:There was one issue with printing boarding pass but was quickly resolved
Review 71:Nice staff, very good location. It even has a club room for reading, internet, etc.
Review 72:A safe is missing in the room. Bed too hard for us. But it's looking at details...
Review 73:It was clean and very well located. We would certainly consider this hotel for a second trip to chicago.
Review 74:None
Review 75:The free chilled water and water bottles are super. Our Room is at corner with so pretty windows on both sides. You can view the streets and art museum from far. Room is quiet, equipped with all essential you need. The free boarding pass print service is good. Also love the club room.
Review 76:Room was a bit small for two people but not big deal in larger scheme.
Review 77:Very convenient. Good location. Simple but comfortable. Very helpful staff. Good price.
Review 78:Towels were shredded and ratty. Only given 1 washcloth. Could use extra towels. No ironing facilities. Great
Review 79:Linens, size of room, wifi, connection ports, bed comfort.
Review 80:Valet Parking expensive and rude when needed to get something from my car. Room was right in front of the elevators and we could hear EVERYTHING. Our particular room had absolutely no view.
Review 81:Nice place. Appeared clean. Comfy rooms and beds. Bathroom was impressive, not your typical counter and appearance. Really liked the stand up shower instead of a bath tub. Filtered water dispenser with bottles in the hallway (unfortunately right in front of our door).
Review 82:Very small room. No iron/ironing board in the room. Only one hand towel and one face cloth in the room. Had to call front desk for more.
Review 83:Nice, modern, clean room.
Review 84:Toilet was blocked and reception staff did not send any maintenance (as promised), it was my last night, so I was very disappointed. Wi-fi connection was not working properly when accessing the rooms. Price-wise the hotel is expensive compared to what it offers.
Review 85:Location is absolutely the best point. Bed was very comfortable.
Review 86:I was traveling with my grown daughter and Since there were 2 people in the room I would have expected 2 bath towels, 2 (or 3) hand towels and 2 wash cloths. We only had 2 bath towels and 1 hand towel and wash cloth. Ridiculous. The whole place is set up for single male travelers.
Review 87:Valet service for car seemed a little expensive, but worth it when I could not find the self-park lot that they suggested. Otherwise, not too much to really "like" except the cold water bottle dispenser.
Review 88:Near the blue line train station, Art Institute, restaurants and Walgreen's. Starbucks, a pub and a vegan restaurant next door. Comfortable, quiet room. Free bottled water. Front desk allowed me to check in early and gave me a room with a small fridge upon request.
Review 89:My room showed a bit of wear on walls.
Review 90:Very comfortable, nice amenities, nice decor, right size room, great location.! Could not stay for breakfast, nor use wifi..the dining room looked high class!would like to stay longer next time.
Review 91:Room was a bit small and didn't have a safe.
Review 92:Really enjoyed our stay here! The place has an excellent downtown location within walking distance of Millennium & Grant parks. Cabs and L trains easily accessible. Security good.
Review 93:Room was dark due to high buildings so would benefit from lighter wood for furniture to create a lighter feel to the room..
Review 94:Staff were helpful beyond usual levels.
Review 95:Very little counter space in the bathroom- seriously NO where to put even a small toiletry bag and our stuff kept falling down. Also, the weird different elevators to different floors were confusing.
Review 96:Free purified water was great. Restaurant in lobby had good food and friendly staff.
Review 97:I didn't like that my standard room didn't have a fridge.
Review 98:The staff were excellent, super friendly and accommodating and the environment positive clean and comfortable.
Review 99:Didn't like being charged a total of $100 to check in a few hours early and leave a few hours late, most hotels give you courtesy early check in/check out options of a few hours without it costing over $100 more.
Review 100:The staff was warm and welcoming from the second we walked in, rooms were very comfortable and had most of what was needed. They dI'd a great job with the crazy crowd. Loved the room downstairs with various complimentary drinks and snacks. The water vending machines were amazing and so very useful all weekend. anything we didn't have or needed was brought directly to our room within minutes.
Review 101:Paying 485 USD per night for 2 nights as it was 4 July --- this was more than 3 times the rate for the other nights --- quite simply this hotel is not worth this rate under any circumstances.
Review 102:Central location
Review 103:No windows in my room. Also the parking was expensive and far away.
Review 104:Comfortable and convenient. Great location and well decorated. The staff was helpful as well.
Review 105:The location was excellent in order to be close to Union RR Station, since we had to be there by 6:45 A.M. Forgot my Cell Phone and the staff was wonderful in letting me make a phone call.
Review 106:Disappointed to be told that hotel was oversold and had to insist on my reservation to avoid being parked elsewhere. No restaurant exclusive to hotel - breakfast and other meals offered in attached pub. disappointed to be told that Booking.com had failed to forward funds to the hotel so my credit card would be charged for the stay (still investigating whether this is a failure on the part of Booking.com or otherwise)
Review 107:Room was clean, comfortable and quiet.
Review 108:Room small, but adequate. No breakfast. Front desk small with not enough help for number of guests needing help.
Review 109:Free water and WiFi. Staff help giving directions, storing luggage. Room ready early. Location walking distance to great museums and lake.
Review 110:Nothing to dislike.
Review 111:Arrived from Memphis on Amtrak and the hotel was a five minute stroll from Union Station. Likewise, a one-block walk to Blue Line metro takes you directly to O'Hare airport. Plus being within the Chicago Loop there is easy access to, on foot, to everything.
Review 112:It took longer than expected to check in but check out was a breeze
Review 113:Room was large and clean and the conveniance of the microwave and sinkwas a nice touch
Review 114:The rooms are small, but functional. We did not have the conflict in opening the bathroom and closet doors at the same time as mentioned in another review.
Review 115:The Central Loop Hotel is located on Adams St., less than a mile from Michigan Ave. The JW Marriott is on the next block and, with a two-fold difference in room rates, the Central Loop seems like quite a bargain for the location. The Castle and Elephant Pub can be entered from the hotel lobby through a dedicated door and you can charge the bill to your room, so it functions as a quasi hotel restaurant. The Rookery is an interesting architectural gem located next door to the pub and it's well worth a look at the lobby. There is a Starbucks on the other side of the hotel and Berghoff's German restaurant is about a block farther. The staff was always ready and willing to cheerfully help with whatever request we had. The hotel has a number of surprising and clever amenities like, Keurig coffee machines in room, water bottles and chilled filtered water dispensers on each floor, a "Guest Extras" closet on each floor containing irons/ironing boards, sleep kits, etc., and a downstairs lounge with free snacks and soft drinks always available. Pairs of room doors are recessed about 4-5 feet from the hallway, which enhances privacy when opening your door (like to put out your "privacy" sign).
Review 116:There was a group of very noisy people on Saturday night (around 12 midnight) and I had to call the reception. They dealt with it promptly, although some noise continued until 2 am.
Review 117:The room was small but clean and comfortable.
Review 118:You had to search out the snacks and beverages they promised, and I didn't find them soon enough to enjoy them.
Review 119:I stayed a block away from the hotel that housed my business conference for $100 per night less
Review 120:Room was VERY small, but functional. Shower pressure could have been better, but was adequate.
Review 121:Location was perfect. Associated bar and restaurant, next door, was very good.
Review 122:Noisy because of roadworks and trash collection very early in the morning. High prices as two conférences taking place at Mc Cormick that week
Review 123:Location and Pub next door
Review 124:The staff was very helpful with everything. Helped with some questions, recommended some places and things to do. I'll definetely come back to this hotel!
Review 125:One or two staff were unpleasant. The exercise facility is too small / inadequately equipped.
Review 126:The rooms are comfortable, the hotel is conveniently located, and the member bonuses are great. Free bottled water, cappacino machine, etc.
Review 127:Neighbors were very rude about their noise, and door slamming during the night
Review 128:Location great. Airport to Monroe station then 2 blocks. Adult kids stayed at hotel and saw much of the city's attractions.
Review 129:I can't. Think of anything wrong with this hotel.
Review 130:We only stayed for one night, but it was excellent. We rode Amtrak from our location 3 hours away and it was close to the station. It is located in the loop which made it easy to walk to Michigan Avenue and other down town sites. We will stay here again
Review 131:stayed one night at one price. Tried to stay a second night but was completely booked. They had a cancellation and offered the room to us at $150 more than our first night rate. We did not stay.
Review 132:Due to a cold snap in weather, room air con was not effective , but housekeeping arranged a heater for us. Great!
Review 133:Nick at reception was great as we arrived early (on a very cold Chicago morning!) and he arranged for us to get into our upgraded room.
Review 134:Since we went when the seasons were changing from winter to spring the heat was still on so the room was a little muggy but we survived. Also the hallways were kind of like a maze, I thought it was kinda creepy but my boyfriend thought it was awesome.
Review 135:The staff was so helpful and the rooms were really clean and super cute. We had a great time!
Review 136:Did not like that no where did I see or was I informed about the extra that they charge on your card for 'security' purposes. I don't mind the precautionary charge, but inform me. The guy at the desk said nothing, just took my card, came back and said enjoy your stay. Five minutes later I get a message from my bank, I was charged $100 more than I was supposed to be. When I called the front desk only then did he explain. Had to wait about 7 days for the charge to fall off. Not cool. Also room had no microwave or no mini fridge which other hotels that I've stayed at for cheaper have. The toilet gave problems flushing, so some guy had to come and suction it. View was not that pretty, but that's ok.
Review 137:I liked the location in the heart of everything. Staff was friendly, they let us check in early with no charge. Bed was comfy and bathroom was nice.
