Reviews for Chateau Yering Hotel

Review 1:Food was interesting but the menu not well balanced considering it wasn't changed frequently with very little choice. Our booking was for half board (without choice), the nightly cost being the full room rate plus the cost of the 3 course menu. No savings! the choice on arrival was 2 or 3 courses, we only had 2 courses, but had to stand our ground to get a reduction. This sounds penny pinching, but we were so disappointed with the set up of the food and wine we felt justified in asking for a refund. It was granted with a sour face and warning that it was not policy! Unfortunately we opted for the wine package which was disappointing and very short measure. In all not at all generous! We would nor recommend it, the restaurant was not busy!

Review 2:A very comfortable room in a beautiful area. Gardens on the whole were beautiful, but most rooms looked over a common lawn with little privacy and no plants! This could have been a highlight of our time in Victoria.

Review 3:the staff were amazing, super helpful.we also liked the "package" idea- which inc. breakfast and dinner too.Excellent.!!The rooms are a delight in oldfashioned comfort with modern conveniences- lots of extras as in toiletries etc.

Review 4:Food (particularly main course) in restaurant was far below standard one would expect from any restaurant/hotel and certainly did not justify a premium price for inferior product.

Review 5:Good location, pleasant rooms

Review 6:Our stay was prompted as we were attending a wedding at the hotel and both the wedding and the hotel were fabulous. Very spacious room, comfortable bed and great service. Couldn't fault anything.

Review 7:Staff in the accommodation were friendly and helpful. The service in Elenores Restaurant was not good. Slow and sparse and not informative about menu. Cooked breakfast was hit and miss.

Review 8:The breakfast choices were limited and we waited for at least 20 minutes for what we ordered.

Review 9:We love the garden. It's spring so lots of beautiful flowers. Managed to get our rooms with half board. That was wonderful. Had an enjoyable dinner at Eleanor's. The staffs are the restaurant were nice too.

Review 10:We felt that so much more could be done with the hotel. The verandah of our suite was very shabby as was the pool area. Didnt like the thought of having to drag our luggage through the breakfast area on checkout. Sommelier could do with an injection of enthusiasm to combat his monotone dialogue. Sorry if my comments seem harsh but genuinely liked the hotel and felt that with a little TLC and passsion it would be superb. All of suggested areas of improvement would have very little cost input. In summary .... So close yet so far away from being a superb hotel.

Review 11:Overall we liked the Chateau, its location, its historic background. The internal decor although a little dated was impressive. Food was good. Staff generally very friendly especially Jack who sorted an excellent winery tour for us at short notice.

Review 12:Everything specially the dinner a Eleanor's was experience that will take a long time to forget!! and the hostess Kelly did an excellent job very professional and a lovely person. General everything was excellent what you aspect from a five star hotel.

Review 13:That I couldn't stay longer!!!

Review 14:Wow, what a lovely experience, not often you can go into a place so grand and full of so much history. Rooms in olde world style, spacious, we felt like special guests. The restaurant food was amazing, staff were very accommodating and beautiful countryside.

Review 15:Room service menu between 6pm and10pm is limited to the very expensive dining room menu. Bad bad bad. Why penalise guests who want a simple meal in their room by mandating an expensive dining experience. The TV is very small and impossible to watch from the bed except with binoculars and is not positioned well to watch from the comfortable couch and lounge chair. Also very limited transport option into Yarra Glen for those diners who want to eat somewhere else and have a few drinks. The hotel does not provide this service and taxi service is nil.

Review 16:Great location and very comfortable beds. Nice balcony with great views. Well appointed and functional bathroom.

Review 17:The Staff were very welcoming and the room was beautiful , clean and comfortable , the breakfast was also very nice.

Review 18:Food and staff at the restaurant.

Review 19:Not much variety for food . Restaurant menu is limited .

Review 22:Gorgeous surroundings, beautiful hotel, spectacular dinner and delightful staff.

Review 23:The food was excellent and the staff friendly very nice weekend

Review 24:The service , people , food everything

Review 25:Room was a bit buggy. Hotel is a bit too chintzy for my taste.

Review 26:The location was fantastic, with Yering Station right next door. Meals were excellent, with wonderful service.

Review 27:On arrival reception staff unorganised too many staff with no defined role.Wedding guests more important than hotel guests we were made to feel in the way when taking a walk in the garden.Very expensive meal that was cold and bland, very average breakfast, carpets dull and marked lets the whole look of the place down

Review 28:The atmosphere, the bed was amazingly comfortable, the ambience and the views, good coffee and a plunger in the room.Bathroom facilities were excellent

Review 29:Restaurant (and to a lesser extent, the cafe) needs to improve qualityof food and service to match the quality of the very expensive but niceaccommodation. It feels like a try-hard - they need to get the basicsright and forget trying to be fancy.

Review 30:Rooms are fabulous. They are perfectly stocked with everything you needand incredibly large with a great outlook. Good service.

Review 31:breakfadt and dinner are amazing.staff is very helpful and always smiling. I would definitely cm back:)

Review 32:The unprofessional treatment and the bad security especially at night. The foods are very bad as well.

Review 33:We didn't like anything at all !!

Review 34:Breakfasts were terrible, had an omelette which was like rubber. Staff need more training an the venue is not value for money.

Review 35:Size of room
