Reviews for Inn on Folsom

Review 1:There is a club next to the inn, which was very loud after wednesday in the evening. The toilet was next to our room and we could hear the fan when it was turned on. There was a strange smell in the entire building. The parking situation is awfull in that neigborhood!!

Review 2:The personnel was helpful. There was a sink in the room.

Review 3:It is just a shame about the noise, but I got a room on the second floor at the back, slept well.

Review 4:The inside of the property is really nicely done, the brick walls, finishing and it's very clean. The bed was VERY comfortable.

Review 5:If you want to be on Folsom it's a good location, it IS noisy but they tell you this. Room was clean and functional. It's a good no frills low price shared bathroom experience. Breakfast was very limited a bit half heated with a few items.

Review 6:nothing. first time in the heart, but anything bad was all on me being nervous on go all out, or be reserved. Nothing wrong at all with the Inn or neighborhood

Review 7:the staff , everyone in the area was friendly and helpful, i look forward to returning!

Review 8:The "hotel" is literally in the club and thus impossible to sleep before 2:30. The desk is not 24hr operated. After 22:00 you can only call to someone, who will not come to the desk to speak face-to-face.

Review 9:The noise from the club downstairs causes the window to vibrate. Drab decor from the 70's No chair in room Ultra noisy guests in room next door/thin walls!

Review 10:Location Clean Friendly people on reception Ckecked in as soon as claen room available

Review 11:I didn't like how you had to share the bathroom and the showers with everyone else staying in the hotel. Also, the breakfast could have been better.

Review 12:I liked how the rooms were decorated; very modern.

Review 13:the first floor is really noisy because the same building houses a club in the basement.

Review 14:the cheapest option (after dorm rooms) i could find close to Market St and BART

Review 15:See above

Review 16:After a 20 hr journey I was exhausted. Imagine my shock when I awoke to the furniture and the floor creaking and thumping. It was 22h Initially I thought it was an earthquake but no...I was just above a rock session with the band playing on for the next 4 hours!!!!!! The manager advised me to use ear plugs !!!!! The guests next door got the television on nice and loud till 4am... And at 730 am the cleaning lady got her vacuum cleaner going at the door. Breakfast was miserable..All in all a ghastly experience indeed never to be repeated again...

Review 17:Would be very useful a restroom for who are in check-in or check-out state

Review 18:Cleaning Very simple and comfortable rooms Delicious breakfast by self serve

Review 19:It can be loud/annoying that there is a party hall right next to the building. I would recommend to go and party there, problem solved!

Review 20:Very clean room the shower and the restroom area is brand new, easy to get to the center.

Review 21:Exterior can be changed for better. Reception wasn't always manned.

Review 22:This hotel is not too bad actually. The initial impression wasn't great as the hotel has a very narrow entrance surrounded by a couple of bars. But once in, my perception changed. My room was of good size and clean. It didn't include a toilet but there were toilets outside which were clean.

Review 23:The location of my room was over a night club that blasted heavy metal music and other into the night, was hard to get rest when I chose to.

Review 24:I liked that the hotel was clean.

Review 25:There is only 1 toilet per floor, all of he guestes have the joy of waiting for the toilet to be available. Oh and there is a very loud bar on the bottom floor that plays music until 1:00 am. So plan to dance the night away in your room even if you do not care for the music or want to actually sleep.

Review 26:Clean facility

Review 27:It's on top of a club so we couldn't sleep til 3 am. The staff disappeared at 8:00 pm so I had to solve an issue with the cable by myself

Review 28:I liked the cleanliness of the place

Review 29:Very good Management, clean room, the location is good. Not complaints at all. If I need back to San Francisco I'm booking again same hotel. Thank you.

Review 30:Didn't find it bad at all, there's a 22 step staircase right at the entrance, no elevator. You can hear street music, but it's not bad at all with earplugs.

Review 31:Super clean, new bathrooms. Bed was great. Staff was kind and accommodating.

Review 32:There is a nightclub/bar below the building which will disrupt the sleep of those who are not acclimated to inner city noise. Noise cancelling headphones will remedy this issue just fine.

Review 33:Very clean and modern decor and room fixtures. Fantastic coffee/juice/cereal/bread in the morning for a quick breakfast. The staff was exceptionally curtious and professional.

Review 34:There is a nightclub downstairs so prepare to dance the night away from your bed.

Review 35:Just right for what we needed. A place to sleep and it was clean and staff was nice.

Review 36:Very noisy. Bar and music downstair. Shower outside the room (but very clean) and ratio quality/price very low the location is fine but not so secure specially during the night

Review 37:staff nice

Review 38:First, I booked a deluxe queen room and was given a standard queen room. They did not adjust the cost. It's bad enough that one has to share bathroom facilities, but I knew that when I booked the stay. What they didn't mention was their apparent toiletry shortage and towel deficiency! To me, ending my shower with a clean, luxurious towel can make or break my hotel stay. In this case it undoubtedly broke it! The towels were hideous. They were dingey and frayed- what one might expect for back-of-the-house clean-up rags!

Review 39:The location was great and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 40:There's a goth nightclub downstairs (which is more of a feature than a bug for me) and I could hear some faint music during the night. Earplugs are provided for light sleepers but it might not be a good fit for the noise sensitive.

Review 41:Exceptionally clean and comfortable rooms with kind staff. Was surprised to find the shared toilets and showers weren't hostel quality but were instead clean, serviceable and bordered on pleasant! Will be using this as my go-to hotel for central SF in the future.

Review 42:Right next to a discothèque. Breakfast was ok but there were just 4 seats and 2 tables, no pancackes or eggs. The value for money is really bad: shared bathrooms and restrooms for more than 100€/night

Review 43:Not too far from the center

Review 44:Room was smelly, strong curry smell. Blood stains in front of sink and on wall. Hotel is located above a club (bdsm/sm homosexual club) and the music is as if it is playing in the room. Bed, windows and closets were shaking by the sound. Location not recommendable to go at night, neither leaving the car in front on the street. Very expensive for a 2-star hotel where bathroom facilities need to be shared and one doesn't get sleep.

Review 45:Staff was very friendly, personal, and handing a helping hand. The rooms look nice and the place is clean. Initially booked for 3 nights, but check-out after one night. Staff offered us to leave without any further charge, he understood our opinion.

Review 46:Downstairs there is a club that goes on partyin untill 2 am.. and you hear everything from upstairs! If you lik parties you might just join them otherwise.. it's your choice! The prich too high but unfortunately this is the standard for SanFrancisco.

Review 47:The room and the common spaces were kept tidy and clean.

Review 48:It's in a fun location, with a couple bars that stay hopping into the wee hours of the morning. If you're not in party-mode, the weekends are pretty dang noisy. The management does provide earplugs for your comfort.

Review 49:So comfy and quirky and cute - it was so completely SF. It's in a fun location, with a couple of bars that stay hopping into the wee hours of the morning.

Review 50:Public showers (each in an individual room) and a shared toilet 3 rooms for 1 toilet- probably to conserve space because area was so small but it is perfect if you are out and about and are really just there to sleep. Also, breakfast is very sparse.

Review 51:Updated facilities, unique stylish rooms

Review 52:The bed had little black hairs on it and little bugs on the pillow. No parking nearby. Music from the club played until 4 a.m., the whole place smelled like pee.

Review 53:Location.

Review 54:- No parking, extra 50$ needed to find one on my own 20mns away - junkies all around the area screaming and shouting for no reasons - Very poor equipement in the room, one soap for 3 days, wtf... - common shower and toilets not indicated in the reservation to my knowledge - some bar located below the bedroom which keep you awake - First bad surprise from booking.com :-(

Review 55:- leaving...no comment

Review 56:The area of town was quite run down. I wasn't sure if it was safe to leave anything in the car.

Review 57:It was a wonderful hole in the wall hotel that was very pleasant to stay in. It doesn't look like much from outside but you can tell that the owner is serious about his or her hospitality and the comfort of their guests.

Review 58:There were strong odors of ethnic food and probably the carpet mustiness, but we were there to catch some sleep and get going the next morning.

Review 59:The ease of booking and getting into our room.

Review 60:Gross carpets and airplane chemical bathroom smell throughout the halls and in my room.

Review 61:Bedroom, bath, and showers were all pretty clean and in good shape. Unfortunately the carpets in throughout the hotel are nasty and the entire place has the sometimes faint, sometimes strong odor of an airplane chemical toilet. It's also above a nightclub, which didn't totally bother me but could be an issue for some people.

Review 62:Whole hotel shakes from 9 PM - 3 AM every night because a night club is down stairs. People screaming outside all night. Breakfast consists of cereal (two kinds) and eggo waffles. No hot breakfast is lame. Communal showers and communal restrooms.

Review 63:Really noisy, due to the nightclub downstairs. But the staff did their best to find me a quiet room, and they provide earplugs, so in the end I slept fine.

Review 64:If I pay for a hotel, I pay for a place to sleep. Although everything was great... It is placed over a disco and it is not cheap at all. The noise is too much and you can not sleep well.

Review 65:Nice, clean installations

Review 66:I loved the feel of the hotel Vintage old school feel Near bondage clubs and cafes It can get loud at night from the club So def consider that Over all really cool place

Review 67:A bit of a walk to major areas, and to the subway; the whole inn has an antiseptic smell, forget the breakfast

Review 68:Clean rooms, nice staff, shared bathrooms are kept clean, free wifi

Review 69:The hotel is located above a nightclub on a noisy street and there is a lot of noise coming into the room at night. The hotel provides earplugs but that still wasn't enough to ensure a good sleep.

Review 70:The rooms and other facilities were clean and of good quality. The bed was comfortable to sleep in. The price was very good for San Francisco.

Review 71:The place can not seriously claim it offers hotel rooms (or breakfast). It is situated on top of a night club. Once the music starts, which in my case happened 2 of 3 nights, your bed jumps. You can hear it as if it is in your room even with ear plugs. This continued until 2 a.m.

Review 72:It was relatively clean.

Review 73:This shouldn't be a hotel. Let alone be on booking.com. Were greeted by the pungent waft of a bug bomb still in the air, choking us till the next day. Then after a day sight seeing in SF, the music started. The thump thump lasted from about 22:00 till 02:30 on a Thursday night. Hotel provides squishy ear plugs but even on the top floor you feel the music pulsing. Then after the music stops the traffic starts again at 06:30-07:00. If you value sleep, look elsewhere.

Review 74:I liked the time we left and didn't have to go back in.

Review 75:Well, (I don't mind music played on weekends) by the BAR that is located right below my favorite room, it could be a lot of "Bum, Bum" in the room floor. LOL. Just ask not to be at the front rooms if you want a quiet room go to the back or 3rd floor.

Review 76:Beds are comfortable, the hotel has easy access to downtown San Francisco walking distance and is very clean.

Review 77:Second stay - staff is extremely helpful and kind. Nice rooms - simple but nicely furnished and with a nice temperature. Sink inside. Excellent location in SoMa, Civic Center and many other attractions are nearby. Greyhound, Amtrak and Bart are also very easy to reach. Rooms, restrooms and showers are super super clean. Overall recommended - one of the best options at this price level.

Review 78:Small cigarette burn on the comforter but didn't really mind

Review 79:The room is very nice and both the room and the restroom were super super clean! Didn't see the showers. Also didn't try the breakfast so can't comment on that. The location is great - right in the middle of SoMa, lots of places to eat and have drinks, close to everything including bus and greyhound/Amtrak. Didn't have any problem with the club downstairs - I could barely hear it but you get earplugs in case you're sensitive. Overall great value for price.

Review 80:- This hotel is located above 2 night clubs. even with ear plugs in you will FEEL the music below you. - The toilet is down the hall and very small. - The shower is also in a separate room. - The room itself is very small. BOTTOM LINE: if you plan to sleep before 3am, just go somewhere else.

Review 81:+ For the price, the rooms are clean, and well maintained.

Review 82:The staff told us it was free parking in the street while it wasn't. We got a 78 dollar fine but he didn't seem to care and he wasn't even helpful in helping us deal with the fine because he said he was busy. Days later he said he called the company to explain the situation, but it didn't help. Moreover, our room was right above a club and it was very very noisy.

Review 83:The location is good, the price is OK.

Review 84:The Staff service was very poor. Last day of my stay I waited 5 hour (5pm to 10pm)to get my room key activated. The receptionist was no where to be found till 10 pm.

Review 85:Bed was confortable

Review 86:Tuesday night was karaoke night in the club and I heard a couple of my favourite songs being raped, but nevermind :)

Review 87:this is my second review because I decided to prolong my stay there. And the reason I did that is because this place is just perfect! at the end I practically felt home there: very clean, nice rooms, the facilities are good, having breakfast is awesome, and most of it all the staff is super nice, polite and caring! I have no idea why people complain about the noise from cat club because honestly is not that noisy at all, and at least is very good music! I love everything about this hotel!

Review 88:It's upstairs from a nightclub. Didnt bother us @ all - bt if you expect quiet suburbian streets, you're not going to get that.

Review 89:Cool, nicely re-built spot in SoMA upstairs from a nightclub.

Review 90:The pub right next to the hotel kept me awake uptil 2:30am every week night. I can't imagine how it is on weekends probably worse.

Review 91:The staff was very helpful and the bed was very comfortable. The shared bath was never a problem. Breakfast was nice and healthy everyday

Review 92:Terrible sound proofing, the bar downstairs has live bands until 3am, even with earplugs in I could hear every single word the band sung and felt every single beat played. Also the smell of the food that the owners cooked permiated all throught the hotel, rather gross when you can still smell indian food at 2am

Review 93:Clean,

Review 94:The clerk when asked about the parking he didn't know when the signs clearly were marked 1 hour parking! He could of placed us next to showers but didn't.

Review 95:the remodel to this once rundown place was exceptional

Review 96:The noise of the club is okay to me. For me, the biggest problem is there's no parking lot, you have to park by the street, so you need to get up early at 7 am to move your car to pay by space. Then, our car's window was broken by theft in the morning around 9-10 am just within one hour....ToT The wifi is not that good

Review 97:The price is good

Review 98:Bar near by was really noisy late into night...as was the traffic. Double pane windows would be life changing.

Review 99:The cleanliness, the brick wall, the coziness of the boutique inn. Friendly staff.

Review 100:I booked in a hurry and didn't realize the room doesn't have private bathroom (didn't expect it wouldn't), and was very disappointed to find out, but that's my fault; the fact that the shared toilet was clogged when I arrived was someone else's. VERY noisy (thin walls + loud music from outside at night), and they know it as the room had earplugs ready (helpful). Some of the lamps didn't work or flickered, the ceiling fan couldn't be turned of without turning off the lights. Some staff not very friendly. Room small and too basic, not even a chair. closet kinda broken/crooked.

Review 101:Very clean, earplugs were provided (and were necessary)

Review 102:Not being able to sleep

Review 103:On top of a nightclub spewing out loud rock until 02.30 am. Had to leave and go somewhere else and got a refund. Lovely staff just a terrible location.

Review 104:I bring my own earplugs and fall asleep to the sweet strain of the club downstairs. I don't mind the insistent rumble of music, but I wouldn't recommend it to people who need quiet to sleep.

Review 105:I love the Inn on Folsom. Their staff is super friendly, their facilities are very comfortable and classy. The bed is great and the shared showers were super clean.

Review 106:It was horrible. There is a night club right next to the inn, and we couldn't sleep during the night. Also, the shared bathroom and shower were awful. We couldn't stay there more than one night, and we change it for the rest of our trip.

Review 107:Nothing.

Review 108:The noise permeates. The thumping of the bass from the club downstairs makes the walls shake. The hotel provided earplugs, but they were not enough to keep the thump-thump-thump out of my fever dreams.

Review 109:Sound on TV wasn't working properly but Internet was great!!

Review 110:Easy to get to transportation . Staff more than helpful. Room was what I expected. Noise from club downstairs wasn't really a problem as so busy all day fall asleep quickly. Good value for money.

Review 111:The staff lied and tricked me to believe that I paid to stay over nightthen to find out it was only for a couple of hours. I demand a fullrefund. The staff is not fair and honest to their customers.

Review 112:I did not like anything about this place. The smell of the place and thestaff. I do not recommend this place to anyone visiting San Francisco.

Review 113:Check in time should definitely be negotiable to go with ones arrival time

Review 114:The nightlife location was rewarding. There are a few good bars nearby, ok places to eat and it's near bus stops that make most of the city accessible

Review 115:It was on top of a nightclub and could get pretty loud at night. If you are a light sleeper I would not recommend.

Review 116:clean, well priced at $60 a night, location not in a beautiful area, but centrally located

Review 117:The room was cozy, clean, comfortable. There is a lot of noise at night because there's a night club next to it but we didn't care too much about that. The room was very clean and looked very nice. I can tell they make sure everything is clean.

Review 118:Close to tenderlion district ( lots of homeless , crazy drug addicts ) but they won't bother you if you don't mind it.

Review 119:Affordable , close to subway , free breakfast , nice staff

Review 120:Like others have said, it is pretty noisy at night. If you suspect that will be an issue for you, I recommend you spend a little more somewhere else to ensure a good night's sleep. Also note that there are a lot of stairs to get into the place.

Review 121:Location was great! Toilet and shower are both separate, but there were enough facilities for everyone and we never had to wait. Everything was clean and cute.

Review 122:As others have mentioned, there's a nightclub next door. I've stayed here twice and not been woken up or had difficulty getting to sleep but the club is not going away and it's presence is reflected in the room price.

Review 123:There's value here. Certainly not luxurious, but the effort to incorporate some nice design elements into the property shows. Everything works. The staff is pleasant and helpful.

Review 124:The rooms may be less shielded from the sounds coming from downstairs and neighbour rooms.

Review 125:The place is VERY clean, nice staff, very comfortable rooms.

Review 126:Unplanned client meeting in SF. My usual hotels were booked or 600plus a night. The room served it's purpose. I got over the bathroom /shower issue as it was clean and all was fine. Ideal for young travelers or anyone on a budget.

Review 127:tvfeed incomplete, ugh,ugh noise next door! AS headline he "got" 115 for a 59.00 room ... he admitted it was the weakest in the INN

Review 128:decent wifi affable manager, a bit naiff helpful only if I ask...NOT generous with help

Review 129:Though breakfast is included and the selection is fine, the seating area in next to the food is very small and tight. I feel more comfortable to take my food into my room actually. One biggest problem, as noted in many other reviews, is the noise from the bar below the inn. I think my room is right above the stage area of the bar below, so it is really noisy on Saturday and Sunday. However, the inn does mention this in their description and ear plugs are available right in the room. As the location, I find Folsom Street feels sketchy and dark most of the nights. However, it is actually safer than it looks. There are several bars and coffeehouse in this neighborhood and it is actually a nightlife central of SoMa.

Review 130:Considering how expensive accommodation in San Francisco is (Even a overcrowded youth hostel may cost $40 per night for a dorm bed), this place is relatively budget-friendly. Though the toilet and bathrooms are shared, I think there are enough of them and they are relatively well-maintained and clean. There are even liquid soap in the shower rooms. Breakfast is included and the selection is not bad (toast, waffle, yogurt, juice, tea and coffee). Depending on how you feel, the location of the inn may be a strength (near some interesting bars and cafe) or a weakness (dark streets, looks scary at night)

Review 131:It was a tiny bit noisy from the club below but it's not as bad as some reviewers have made out. Also the most convenient double socket cut out every evening for some reason - yet the rest of the sockets and lights still worked?

Review 132:The room was modern and well decorated with a comfy bed (if a bit high) and the TV and WiFi worked well. Breakfast was really good and the manager was helpful and always around. It's close to buses and a moderate walk from Market Street.

Review 133:We gave up living there...there is no place to park, and the most important thing is that it does not seem to be located in a safe area...the neighborhood is a mess, it's dirty and some homeless peaple are wondering there...

Review 134:The deposit was a lil much for that kind of hotel. And the room was cold without a heating system. Not to mention my door wouldn't close unless slammed a few times.

Review 135:I liked the convenience of the check in and comfort of the bed .

Review 136:Very noisy at night, right next to night club, earplugs are provided and very much needed, the area isnt the nicest but its fine

Review 137:Clean and comfortable, reasonably priced and quite centrally located

Review 138:There is a karaoke bar next the building, but when you close the window the noise is not so bad.

Review 139:A simple but really good breakfast and the room is organized, with a fair size for two people and pretty clean.
