Reviews for Terrace Hotel - Lakeland

Review 1:This is a historic grand old hotel in the heart of Lakeland. While it is an old hotel, it has all the amenities you would expect from a modern hotel (Wifi, Restaurant, Plasma tv, etc) The station is within walking distance from the Amtrak station and close to several restaurants and pubs.

Review 2:The complimentary breakfast in the morning was sparse and not very good...oranges that are old/dry and not sweet and Red Delicious apples (does anyone actually like that variety of apple? it's like the iceberg lettuce of the greens world), plus a few muffins and similar. I realize it's "complimentary" and all, and I should be happy I got any kind of free food, but even budget hotels often do better than this.

Review 3:Pretty basic, clean, standard hotel in a nice location of Lakeland, right next to one of the many lakes in the area. Stayed on 9th floor, elevator was always quick to arrive going up or down, and I got the feeling almost no one else was staying in the hotel at the time. Would stay here again if I found myself in Lakeland for a night.

Review 4:Not really bad, but there was a leak in the bathroom, resulting in recurring puddle on floor. Reported when I checked out.

Review 5:Location. Comfortable bed. Quiet, upper floor. Nice view.

Review 6:Unfortunately, the beds seem to be as historical as the hotel. They were as hard as boards. The staff at the desk seemed to be used the the question, "Can I move my room?" (No, all the beds are all the same) and "Do you have any mattress toppers?" (No, they've all been given out). Also I left my $150 electric toothbrush and called about it right away. The staff member was able to locate it (after first saying the cleaning help had thrown it away). She agreed to send it to me but I never received it. I waited four weeks before writing this review.

Review 7:If you want to be in the heart of downtown Lakeland, this is a great place to be. The restaurant is very nice and the food is really good. The historic nature of the hotel is charming. The staff are attentive.

Review 8:I would definately give the rooms a litle lift. The bed wasnt too comfortable.

Review 9:Location and feel of the hotel. service was excellent As a business woman traveling solo, i dont order room service. I reluctanly did and I was delighted at the fact that the server was a female. It made me feel much more at ease. Vallet Parking

Review 10:The room was outdated, such as the ceiling, tv console had a bit of water damage at the bottom. Also the curtains and the painting in the room needs updating.

Review 11:I liked the location of the property. It is located in the business area and near a lake. The staff was professional and welcoming. I would consider staying there again.

Review 12:A/C in Suite 14 was loud every time it kicked on. The morning staff at check out was not nearly as friendly as the check in staff at night. Housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:30 am asking if I was done. Seriously?

Review 13:Location was great. Right in the center of town. Walking distance to Harry's and both parks.

Review 14:first night the towels were frayed...it is close to Hurricane Ally so you hear music at night,we were second floor facing parking garage so just could have been location... Over all I'd stay again Like to face lake that would be a must request

Review 15:Excellent location for sightseeing, shopping, eating and family Restaurant five star

Review 16:Nothing.

Review 17:The room, overlooking Mirror Lake, was beautiful, especially in the evening, when all the lights around the lake sparkled. The large historical windows had lovely window treatments. Very comfortable bed and enjoyed having the complementary valet. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 18:1) Mildew on shower curtain; 2) Shower left water on bath floor; 3) Weak/non- existent Wi-Fi; 4) Noise from next room sounded like in my room; 5) No newspaper, as advertised; 6) Awful tv channel selections

Review 19:Location.

Review 20:The business is a poor excuse for a downtown hotel a deck located in the basement elevator lobby...really! The rooms need to be remodeled and updated...too old world.... Baths rooms need complete a remodel. The bar is dead and need a TV.

Review 21:The common areas are wonderful historical feel. The white table cloth restaurant is solid but it needs some pulse.

Review 22:I feel like the bathrooms need to be renovated. I had a hard time opening and closing the shower door. The tile and mouldings are a little stained- but look as though they were cleaned- just stained.

Review 23:The location is great- right in the middle of downtown Lakeland. It's within walking distance of a couple of good restaurants (harry's seafood bar and grill and palace pizza for lunch/dinner, and black and brew for breakfast) Beds are comfortable. The desk staff is very nice. The restaurant is very good- but pricey.

Review 24:Found to be a bit noisey and had to call front desk one night.

Review 25:enjoyed the area and the beautiful design of hotel, area is very historical and recommend the polk museum.the swans are very beautiful on the lake across from the hotel.

Review 26:wish breakfast would have included juice

Review 27:love the charm of an older but updated hotel; loved Mirror Lake and the walking path around it; loved the complimentary continental breakfast

Review 28:Misinformation on local attractions. e.g.were told Florida Southern College was closed on Saturdays & Sundays. In fact we checked and went their on both days. s & Suns

Review 29:Comfortable room

Review 30:noisy rooms next door--if your having a special event (wedding, etc) put the guest parties on the same floor, not next to a couple traveling alone

Review 31:location and historic aura of the hotel

Review 32:The furniture and beds in our room were in need of attention. The armoir doors were ridiculous, and the beds squeaked.

Review 33:Very friendly and helpful staff. The duck served from the grill was delicious.

Review 34:When arrived at thye hotel I have paid it already, but the personnel at the front desk wanted me to pay again. I booked the room through Booking.com, maybe they did not know about the policy.

Review 35:Rooms very clean

Review 36:had to send breakfast back..oatmeal barely warm.

Review 37:Location was great...valet parking..then walked everywhere. Coffee, fruit, Danish complimentary starting at 6:30am.

Review 38:Probably because it's an older hotel, but the bathrooms weren't the nicest. Walls were thin too...could hear everything in the next room.

Review 39:The location, charm and ambience of this hotel were all excellent. Very nice location and great Southern charm. All the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We would visit again.

Review 40:No posted check out time,so were unsure.Complimentary breakfast could have been better displayed and had no information on where and what it included.

Review 41:Friendly staff

Review 42:The Wi-Fi is slow and water pressure is lacking in shower due to shower head. There was a ice maker in the room, but it just ran and did not make ice. Had to use the iron and there was something on the iron and it got on the clothes. Told the front desk about this and gave them the iron and they ask what they could do, I said that our son needed his clothes replaced , the lady just looked at me like I was nuts. So beware if you stay and use the iron. As for eating there the avg person can not afford to eat here. There way nothing in the AM to eat.

Review 43:The suite was nice and had plenty of room. King bed was nice.

Review 44:I was told our suite would face the lake. And did not. My family was looking forward to staying there for days thru our travels and were very disappointed.

Review 45:Staff was very friendly.

Review 46:Restaurant was way over priced. Also the service was not the best.

Review 47:It was clean and in a good location. Free valet. We got a great deal on the hotel through booking.com. I probably would not have paid their full price.

Review 48:The bath floor had a lot of black marks on the floor. It gave the bath a dirty feel. Arriving, the exterior is nice. An older elegant hotel. Coming inside, the atmosphere was bland. The staff was not rude. They just was not pleasant. They were bland. I only encountered two that smiled - hostess as I said hello and smiled in passing and the front attendant as I checked out and said 'thank you and have a nice day" when leaving.

Review 49:A historic elegant hotel. I liked the location. The city pond across the street was nice. It was a beautiful day to be outside.

Review 50:The wood fire kitchen had exhaust issues and the overpriced restaurant didn't match the site.

Review 51:The 9th floor Watson suite was nice and the view was expansive. Great historic feel at the hotel.

Review 52:The noise from trains at night was unexpected and woke me up several times.

Review 53:Like the "old time" feel of this boutique hotel. Nice porch with rocking chairs to enjoy a cocktail.

Review 54:The one thing I did not like was having to check out. I wanted to stay for a few more days.

Review 55:The hotel is BEAUTIFUL and has a historic look to it. I can't say enough about how amazing this building is. The lake across the street is very serene and compliments the area. There are restaurants within walking distance and the rooms were clean.

Review 56:Nicely renovated old Florida hotel with helpful, friendly staff. Near Lake Mirror with walking path. Very central location. Definitely want to return!

Review 57:We had a difficult time getting connected to Wi-Fi

Review 58:The thing I liked most about this hotel was the location. We walked to the shops down the streets and enjoyed the view of the water.

Review 59:Bathrooms need a little updating and rooms seemed large but somewhat wasteful in all of that space.

Review 60:The staff, location, and price were really great. The room was very clean, spacious and well appointed.

Review 61:Bathroom had noticeable scuffs on floor that could have been removed. Suite had not been dusted in awhile. Hotel had an odor of wood burning throughout the the main lobby and restaurant. Staff was pleasant but not overly attending.

Review 62:Bed was nice and we stayed in suite

Review 63:Little thing, but the mirror behind the bar was FILTHY. Since they took the bottles down each night, I don't ubderstand why they can't clean the glass. The windows in the restaurant and in my room were also very dirty. But overall, I loved the hotel.

Review 64:Had a good experience, but the room was a little small and there are few electrical outlets...so take a power strip.

Review 65:Right in the heart of beautiful downtown Lakeland.

Review 66:Room was clean but smelled musty. Not much value for the price. No frige or microwave in room. For this price breakfast should be included.

Review 67:Staff was friendly and helpful. Convenient location.

Review 68:Prices for dining and breakfast frightened us but we found a local Italian pizzeria for dinner.

Review 69:View from the 9th floor of the lake was incredible.Bedroom was well equipped and bathroom was good.We enjoyed the free coffee and cakes for breakfast.

Review 70:Shower doors unhinged, water pressure not the best. AC fixed to heat during winter not modifiable by guest.

Review 71:The location and valet service were amazing.

Review 72:Very minor point: I wish there had been an electrical outlet near the bed for use to recharge my iPhone.

Review 73:The staff was superb. The dining excellent. The location perfect for my business needs.

Review 74:On return to hotel at 11pm was surprised to find no valet and no room service. Housekeeping up on floor early in am making noise with vacuum.

Review 75:Stayed in 1 bedroom king suite with great view of Lake. Pleased with accomodations. Easy check in. Booking.com was fast and reliable.

Review 76:Worn and dirty red furniture at the entry makes poor first impression. Breakfast scones and coffee out at 8 pm seemed odd. No business center. No magnifying mirror in bath.

Review 77:Pleasant staff, clean & comfortable room. Complimentary bottled water in room. Walking distance to eateries. Beautiful view of the lake.

Review 78:It took a while for the hot water to get to the room. And no ice machince on the floor.

Review 79:Nice hotel friendly night staff. Half way between disney and legoland.

Review 80:The fitness center was horrendous. This should not have been listed as a feature. The walls were paper thin. There was a "bed tax" listed as 5 bucks a day in addition to the booking.

Review 81:The lake, the cleanliness of the room, the ambiance.

Review 82:Beds are hard as a rock the bathroom was disgusting my child went to use the bathroom and whoever was in there before us did not flush it was so gross the carpet was coming up in the room the air would not get cold it was a horrible first experience staying at this hotel never again! It's not worth the money

Review 83:Nothing

Review 84:Self parking is inconvenient.

Review 85:Great location! In the middle of everything! Fabulous price for luxury hotel. You have to keep in mind that the hotel is 90 years old, but in great shape! We will come back for sure!

Review 86:Loved everything

Review 87:Beautiful lake to walk around. Charming bar and elegant lobby. Free valet was amazing and staff went out of way to help and enhance stay. Restaurant was upscale and delicious. Nice restaurants in quaint surrounding area. Train going by was nostalgic. Shower pressure amazing and appreciated handheld. Very quiet room. Will stay here again. Incredible value and hospitality

Review 88:There is not much in Lakeland for visitors to do and the hotel has no garden, pool or bar. It's a noisy location with a nearby railroad crossing and fire/police sirens going off through the night.

Review 89:Lovely double aspect bedroom with large comfortable bed; tasteful classic decor throughout including impressive reception area. Easy parking. It was all very clean.

Review 90:Restaurant is to high for us, but it was very nice and clean.

Review 91:Room was a suite and we had a great view of the lake, it was very great. We will stay there again, but we will just eat out in one of the local restaurants. All with in walking distance.

Review 92:The building was beautiful. The setting beside the lake wonderful. We stayed in late November the city lights for the holidays were already up so at night the view was wonderful. The staff accommodating and always courteous. Any issues I had were quickly attended to. We will be staying here again the next time we are in town!

Review 93:Great central downtown location near a large park and many restaurants. Hotel restaurant is wonderful! We have stayed here many time and never been disappointed!

Review 94:Not enough power outlets.

Review 95:I like the quick check in process and the location of the hotel. I was able to walk around the block and have a few drinks. I asked for a microwave and they brought one right up.

Review 96:There was mold on the ceiling in the shower and the faucet leaked (Rm. 87). No non-skid surface in shower - a bit slippery. Decaf was not served at the continental breakfast, but nearby wait staff readily supplied it. Cleaning staff attempted to clean our room several times before we checked out.

Review 97:The terrace was a nice place to sit with friends. Loved the lake across the street - enjoyed the Hollis Gardens there. Excellent tour of the Frank Lloyd Wright buildings at nearby Florida Southern University. Snacks in afternoon were a nice touch. Good dinner at Harry's right across the street. Enjoyable stay!

Review 98:I left without the items I'd put in the closet, including an expensive new shirt. I called as soon as i realized what I'd done. Person who answered was rude, but finally agreed to check the room and call me back. Hours later i called again, another rude girl answered. I explained everything again and she said oh she checked the room and didnt find anything. Very rude and unsympathetic.

Review 99:Valet was spot on. Nice bathroom. Nice view. Very comfortable bedding.

Review 100:staff very unfriendly, not one said good morning. bartender very condescending towards my wife and expressed her opinion to a couple at the bar...our bar server was in another world and had no clue of her surroundings. Biggest irritation was pressure washing at 500 a.m. outside our window...seems the terrace has no concern for its guests.....will not return to this facility.

Review 101:location and price

Review 102:Not one thing!

Review 103:Pastry, fruit and coffee in the morning..Snacks thru the day.. Historic value of the hotel Exceptional staff who willingly offer prime service. Complimentary valet Quiet, comfortable and clean Ideal location to 'trendy' restaurants and lake. Sit on the porch. Recommend this hotel highly. Thanks to all of you..sincerely..

Review 104:Couldn't see lake from our room.

Review 105:Loved the porch to sit out on in the morning while enjoying my sweet roll and coffee. Beds were very comfortable. Needed extra night and staff very nice and accommodating. Would like to have been able to stay longer and enjoy shops in area.

Review 106:Your excessive charge for Southern Comfort! (The vodka tonic was reasonable). That was the only thing to dislike out of the whole experience.

Review 107:We'll simply list them instead of going into a long narrative. We loved the 1)ambiance, 2)décor, 3)room appointments, 4)windows and sunlight on two sides of room, 4)feeling of elegance, 5)courtesy and friendliness of entire staff. This was our 2nd stay and there will be more!

Review 108:The first option we were given smelled horrible. It was on the ninth floor. The front staff did place us into a better room on the seventh floor, however the shower did not work properly. The water did not come out the shower head.

Review 109:The view was beautiful.

Review 110:What could be a wonderful historic hotel is marred by its upkeep more like motel. Peeling wall paper, pictures from 80s, doors that have been gouged because they keep hitting each other. Also no updates like curved shower rods. Yet it still tried to act like fancy hotel with qtips and cotton balls.

Review 111:The location was a nice surprise near a lake to walk around and coffee/restaurants. What appeared sleepy was actually quite active. We found runners and farmers market Saturday morning.

Review 112:Hotel had a computer and a printer, but said computer lacked any of the software required to open documents. This effectively made the offering useless to a business traveler. Hotel staff was also unable to suggest or locate a location in the area where printing or copying could be made.

Review 113:Needs some refurbishing in bathroom. Water damage on wall by tub. Floor tiles all cracked but gives it that vintage fill. Mattress a little worn but for a 2star hotel I give it a 8 out of 10!

Review 114:View. Large bathroom. Continental breakfast and afternoon snacks were totally unexpected! Staff very friendly and accommodating.

Review 115:staff was very nice and attentive hotel very clean - great old world style with modern updates

Review 116:location

Review 117:It took three days to get someone to fix the room safe. All that was required were new batteries.

Review 118:Location, comfort, and employee attitudes.

Review 119:Staff was great! Room was nice and clean and had a fresh smell to it. A great stay and will definitely be returning.

Review 120:Very friendly staff! Clean room..great cotton ironed sheets and delicious food!

Review 121:Don't back again,

Review 122:No comments,

Review 123:The room was nice and cozy and the staff was acceptive and kind and treated me and my girlfriend as a young couple respectively.

Review 124:Great staff, very friendly

Review 125:Furniture old

Review 126:Location

Review 127:Breakfast was disappointing to say the least

Review 128:Friendly and professional staff

Review 129:Needs updated.

Review 130:Nicely centrally located

Review 131:History, location, value.

Review 132:Nice and quiet neighborhood. Historic building.

Review 133:The menu was creative, and the fresh squeezed OJ was fabulous. Perfect location, and the historic element of the hotel alluring.

Review 134:great location
