Reviews for Hyatt Regency San Francisco
Review 1:I ordered a room with two queen beds to sleep FOUR people and got a room with one queen bed and a fold out twin bed they offered to bring up for the mistake. Not sure who screwed up, but one of my guests had to sleep on the floor. Very disappointed!
Review 2:This is 2nd time I stayed with others in my family over Christmas time. Two years ago was the first time. It seemed so magical with the lights hanging down in the lobby, the snow falling in the lobby and just the awe on my families faces, especially my grand daughter. Three of my friends came by to see me at the hotel since they were having dinner in the area. We had wine in the lobby area and they too were struck by the "magical" feel. As a matter of fact, seeing my family and I there enjoying ourselves, prompted one of my friends to do a family time in the same way, not at your hotel, however, she and her husband just spent their 3rd Christmas at your hotel because of her first visit with me. (Coincidently, we ran into each other while checking in this past Christmas, in the lobby.). We came back to Hyatt because, even though my grand daughter enjoyed the hotel we stayed in last year, she is a bigger fan of your hotel. What we didn't like is not receiving info about the construction going on in the hotel at this time which meant that the "Magical" sense and snow were no where to be seen or felt. Maybe some notice given when reservations were being considered would have been thoughtful. It was a BIG disappointment. We had another couple come to the hotel and for us it was a letdown not to see, feel and share this same magic we all felt the last time we stayed.
Review 3:Staff exceptional. Bed very comfortable. My grand daughter shared my room and didn't want to go home. Next time we will stay at least 2 nights. She loved Regency Club and the view!
Review 4:Was not told about the $75 hold for incidentals that would be calculated into my final bill. Construction at hotel which closed restaurant.
Review 5:Location near Fisherman's Wharf
Review 6:Noisy - windows let in too much city sound. Only one cafe acting as bar, restaurant and coffee shop. The valet parking was efficient but expensive. Lacks warmth and coziness.
Review 7:Great location, next to trams, buses, cable cars. Good view from our room, impressive architecture, clean and comfortable. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 8:Ac didn't work, room was suffocating, no window that opened, Had to have maintenance come in the middle of the night to fix. Also reception insisted I had no reservation until I pulled up on cell phone,
Review 9:There was really loud construction going on in the lobby that really made staying their unpleasant. Based on that it was quite overpriced.
Review 10:Great location.
Review 11:Every year we have a night-on-the-town-before-Christmas and stay at the Embarcadero Hyatt because it is so stunningly decorated for the season. This year there was only a Christmas tree--no train set, no hanging lights or greens, the very things that make the Hyatt special. It felt gloomy there, like the Grinch had already paid a visit. Maybe you could have said "Have a free Christmas movie in your room" or something, to acknowledge the lack and to make up for it a bit. Instead: Your reps were defensive about needing to prepare for the Super Bowl. Hmmph!
Review 12:Mostly the location and the view.
Review 13:Hotel is doing remodeling of lobby. Went during Xmas and they did not put up their usual Xmas lights. I asked the staff why. I was told it was because of the remodeling and noise. Males no sense. A usually beautiful lobby was dreary, especially during Xmas.
Review 14:The atrium is under construction so the usual Christmas decorations were missing. There is construction noise during the day.
Review 15:We liked the room and view. Everything was clean and the staff was friendly.
Review 16:The 17th floor club entry was a great perk! Thank you so much for that. It really made the hotel experience with our kids and us. So kind of you. The front desk men were off the charts amazing at check in. and when we wanted a slightly different room, they were more than happy to oblige. I don;t think we came across anyone at your hotel with a bad attitude. Everyone was in good spirits and was polite and very professional. The martini touch in our room upon return was over the top incredible too. We were not expecting it. It was a great way to end of great day... Thank you.
Review 17:We did not know that we would have to pay $70 per night to park our car. This was not mentioned in the hotel reservation. Also, our car war driven while in the hotel's control. When it was brought to us in the morning, settings were changed, and we had lost 3 miles per gallon in gas millage. The only way if could have lost that much gas millage is if it was driven around more than just to a parking lot. I will write down the odometer miles the next time I leave my car to a hotel valet parking.
Review 18:The bathroom was not worthy of a 4* hotel, more of a road motel at best: a small toilet and old shower in a small interior room. Staff were not informative on arrival and caused a problem with payment. They later tried to fix it but damage was already done. There were works going on in the lobby/atrium which were very noisy and made things uncomfortable in the mornings. Valet staff were a bit pushy.
Review 19:Location was excellent on California and Market in Embarcadero. Bedroom was spacious and had nice big TV and good view.
Review 20:They were jack-hammering all day long taking out the d downstairs bar - sound reverberated throughout the artrium. No room service after 11PM. Place looks its age.
Review 21:There was air freshener in the room and I am allergic. I've never been to a hotel that puts air freshener in the room. The front desk clerk was rude. I told them i needed to be close to the elevator they put me in room 420 the furthest from the elevator.
Review 22:Staff completely unable to deal with requests. Still struggling to recover doble charges on credit card. There is not a cosy area, no natural light in the hall and reception area.
Review 23:location is good
Review 24:I booked a room here because of the famous rotating restaurant/bar on the top floor. I was informed at check in that the top floor was only accessible by "club members." The membership cost $75.00 per person per night! I was very disappointed!
Review 25:Location!!!
Review 26:During my stay, the price per night was $500, which is usually the price for 5 star hotel. But the rooms are cold, the heater (air condition) is very noisy. In addition it was the construction started for 2 weeks which made the acces to hotel very uncomfortable.
Review 27:There was construction inside the hotel but noise from the workers didn't start until 9am. We receive a stained (dirt/food) bed sheet from housekeeping, but they replaced it.
Review 28:Requested a room with a balcony and view, and received that. Hotel offered room service and was in prime walking distance to Chinatown (4-5 blocks), Ferry Building (across the street), Union Square. You can also walk to Fisherman's Wharf in 30 to 45 minutes, or purchase the Muni Pass. Rooms were quiet and blocked internal and external noise.
Review 29:Currently undergoing some renovation in the public areas, should warn of this before travelling as some people might not like the current 'shrouded' look of the lobby and gym.
Review 30:Excellent views of the bay from the balcony. Good financial area location. Regency club is good if not slightly over-priced.
Review 31:the hotel needs massive renovation. bathrooms too small, windows too loud, staff poorly trained and not able to solve problems. Had to discuss over and over again about paying rooms that had already been paid
Review 32:location is convenient
Review 33:This hotel is a monster, it needs serious renovation and retrofitting. Windows do not close, it is noisy and generally unconfortable. The reception area is confusing, massive and not welcoming.
Review 34:The bathroom was so tiny it was like an after thought, so much space wasted on the entrance area of the room.
Review 35:Comfortable bed, plenty of room, temp just right quiet, good view of the bay bridge.
Review 36:Helpful staff, very comfortable beds. Didn't use the bar or restaurant as the usual expensive hotel prices. Convenient for the Pier area and the cable car stops right outside. The train/subway from the airport also drops you right outside. We also paid extra to join the Regency Club which gave us free breakfast and evening snacks.
Review 37:N/A
Review 38:Your Regency club is an excellent idea, in the evening a another main dish would be good as not everyone eats beef - as we don't but do eat chicken & lamb otherwise great
Review 39:I didn't get a copy of the bill until I checked out which made it very difficult to review all the charges
Review 40:Wonderful location and atrium. Great place to explore the City and surrounding areas.
Review 41:eclipse restaurant wasn't the best. It cost almost $100 for 2 drinks appetizers and salads.
Review 42:great balcony view, comfortable bed, quiet night's sleep, amazing elevators
Review 43:The hotel seems to be under a constant barrage from its guests! We've seen them putting their feet on the common area tables, their bare feet on the cushions and most of the room furniture and carpets are stained from spills. The Regency Club is a free buffet for families with small children. It is not "a quiet restful place to read a book", as described by Hyatt's in room video. The wear and tear at this property is a problem we can't ignore for the price paid.
Review 44:We love the location and the Hyatt brand. The staff is excellent and the restaurant lovely. The valet parking is available 24 hours and although pricey, fabulous if your visiting "The City" and want to have dinner one evening in Sausalito or the East Bay.
Review 45:I bit pricey, but that's all about the location and the inherent value of Hyatt in general. The value was off the chart great though.
Review 46:The Atrium was awesome and kudos for the gift shop as TSA grabbed my toothpaste and shaving sundries at the airport(too large a container) and you had everything... well stocked and very friendly.
Review 47:In terms of ambience, space, comfort and maintenance, Club rooms here in SF are maybe worst Hyatt club room in the world. Furthermore, Hotel management is aware of permitted loud night construction works (BART) and permanent deep noise from raisers next to the bed (preparing complimentary earbuds, instead) but filling these rooms with guests. We have moved three times during our two nights stay. A $150,- reduction is stll not acceptable for two sleepless nights, but we were simply too tired for further discussion at check-out. Finally, they are not going to refill bath amenities and it's disgusting to ask and argue with housekeeping for one more shower gel tube.
Review 48:Location and large entrance lobby. Pedro, in-house technician, and Nate, security. Both have confirmed not acceptable noise levels, as front desk didn't understand, where the noise is coming from. Friendly and hard working staff at Regency Club.
Review 49:Access to stairways sometimes lead to being unable to enter back into the building. A lot of walking to get from room to other services around hotel.
Review 50:Very accommodating facilities and wonderful view
Review 51:Not sure if good value for money. I suppose SF is an expensive place to stay? Bed changed on second and third night but room not hoovered. For what I paid I would have thought it would have been.
Review 52:Hotel in good area.
Review 53:This small complaint didn't really have anything to do with the hotel per se but I think since we were in the financial district, it was challenging to find restaurants that were open later. And when we looked for a good breakfast restaurant, we couldn't find one that were open at 8am when we were out and about.
Review 54:Staff was great! Our room was clean. I thought the space could've been used a bit better.
Review 55:Got there at 2pm. Couldn't check in. Parking was $65! A $259 room became $365 after taxes and parking fee! It takes up to 20 minutes to get your car. (Valet only)
Review 56:Great location
Review 57:Hyatt is one the finest hotels that we have ever stayed in. The regency on the San Francisco embarcadero is a truly unique property. The best in the city. The service was fantastic.
Review 58:The fact that you had no First Aid supplies, that could have assisted my wife when she was hurt on the escalator.
Review 59:Location Is fabulous. Front desk staff and concierge were great.
Review 60:Hotel very impersonal , rooms don't have enough light, you could barely see in the main room. Also light switch to bathroom area in the wrong place which made a challenge using the bathroom during the night.
Review 61:Location
Review 62:It was nerve recking turning our check-in process when they told us that the room that we booked was not available (two double beds). They acommeded us in a room with a King bed; However, there were three of us, which meant that one of us had to sleep in a rollaway bed. Very upsetting.
Review 63:I really enjoyed how helpful and friendly the staff was. They were very helpful and went out of their way to provide us with an answer to our question when they did not know.
Review 64:Valet parking charge for one night of $63 is ridiculous. When I tried to check in 40 minutes early (check in supposed to be at 3:00), which I don't think is unusual for a large hotel, clerk said standard room was not available and she would call me when it was ready. She asked if I wanted to upgrade for $50 to Regency Club. I said no. Had to check our bags so we could walk around while we waited. When they finally told me room was ready at about 4:30, they upgraded me to the Regency Club. Seems they knew they didn't have my standard room, tried to get me to pay to go to the room they were going to send me to anyway, but sent me through the hassle of waiting. Glad I didn't pay the extra $50, I don't think the RC is worth it although the round club room at the top of the building is kind of cool.
Review 65:The Atrium is beautiful. Rooms are updated and clean. Location is nice.
Review 66:Avis Car Rental desk- Avis worker did not help us, did not give us a car and provided in general very bad service. Rent a car from the airport, not here!
Review 67:Location Comfort Value Concierge
Review 68:The room service didn't clean the room during the stay. Wonder ifit's standard policy or they forgot. The AC was making loud noises, waking me up in the middle of the night. Thin windows with limited insulation allow all the street level sounds to easily reach 7th floor rooms. Quality significantly below of what I would have expected at such price level.
Review 69:Surprisingly the "club room" was small smaller than a room we stayed in previously,it is over rated. Tried to change it but were told they were sold out.The booking.com description featured an in room bar, hotel denied that. The air conditioner was loud and noisy. I had to call for the robes and slippers they should have been in the room.
Review 70:The location, nice staff. We like this hotel. Not our first visit, unfortunately this time there were some issues that were not all resolved. Hope next time we won't have to deal with them, plus they would be done with the noisy remodeling.
Review 71:Very small bathroom no water in the fridge, whilst at the bar asked for 2 bottles of water for our room and was going to be charged 11 dollars!
Review 72:The location of the hotel
Review 73:Breakfast staff were sometimes very slow to clear the tables and this is not expected of a hotel of this nature. Bedrooms could do with a refurbishment. The shower was in the bath and old style louvre doors on the wardrobe made the room feel "old".
Review 74:Convenience to public transport. Right outside is the cable car on the California - Van Ness route (this is much quieter to ride than the Powell - Mason Line. The "F" Line historic street cars station is across the road at the ferry Terminal on the Embarcadero and this takes you all the way to Pier 39. Being so close to the ferry terminal enable us to get a ferry ride back from Sausalito (lovely little place) and you then get to see San Francisco from the water. Concierge service excellent and upon departure the large hotel SUV was waiting (luggage already loaded) for our trip back to the airport for the long flight back to Dubai.
Review 75:They were doing renovations in the lobby but the disruption was professionally handled
Review 76:Good location for business rather than leisure. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 77:Leak from a ceiling panel that you could clearly see that it had water damage on it resulting from a leak that had not been repaired.
Review 78:Location and view
Review 79:Would have liked a magnifying mirror. Bathroom very small. Decor very bland and uninspiring throughout the hotel, rather disappointed after staying at the Marriott the previous week which had a wow factor.
Review 80:Location excellent right by the BART so transportation to airport was simple. Room really spacious and bed was excellent. Had good view of bay.
Review 81:Receptionist during check-in was hostile with poor customer service attitude. When he knew where we came from he insisted to sell us higher rate room with extra charge and when we refused he gave us a poor, noisy connecting room (which we changed the next day while he was away!). No pool in such huge hotel was a disappointment. Breakfast was expensive comparing to the room charge. It can become very noisy if a wedding takes place in the hotel. Poor water pressure in the shower. Paid TV channels is a disadvantage.
Review 82:Excellent location with access to all kinds of transportation. Big hotel. Big rooms with comfortable kingsize bed. Free WiFi with reasonable speed. Excellent room service including very fast cleaning process. Professional concierge personnel (all of them).
Review 83:There are a lot of homeless peolpe around, but it's common thing for downtown
Review 84:Location is very good, a lot of public transportation near by. We booked a triple room, it was on sixth floor and we can see the peace of the ocean and Pier 1. Nice view and light breeze. The cleanleness of the room was good, the beds were very comfortable, room service was very good, fast and tasty.
Review 85:The breakfast options were very few but nevertheless was fair. Room rates expensive.
Review 86:Hotel location is next to most tourists attractions almost walkg distance and there are many fast foods around it. Hotel charges for parking however there's a self parking building very close to hotel. Union square for shopping is 5 minutes Drive or 15 minutes walk. Fantastic View from 17 floor had of bay bridge
Review 87:Concierge Changed regularly and some more helpful than others. We didn't have our room cleaned during our 5 day stay - when we asked for extra pillows we had to call a few times. They recommend you lock up your items at the front desk safety deposit box rather than the bedroom safe. This made me feel a little uneasy which is why we just left our bedroom as is for the week and opted out of cleaning service. I didn't feel security was impeccable. During the day hours there was a street person washing up in the bathroom in the lobby. I didn't feel safe. Truth is anyone can walk in and get to most floors of the hotel. There needs to be better security.
Review 88:Hotel was in a great location. The team working at this hotel were incredibly friendly and the service was great. The breakfast buffet was absolutely amazing. The service was friendly and efficient.
Review 89:Bad customer service. Booked a room for my family with 2 children. Got a king size room without extra beds. Ended up sleeping on the ground, because the hotel did not want to give the extra beds. 'Sorry but we are fully booked sir'. But after asking another person at reception for an upgrade, extra beds were available. :-(
Review 90:Location.
Review 91:The person registering us asked if we wanted the breakfast buffet. I told him no that the reviews I read were not good. He wanted me to try it and review it so he gave us complimentary buffets. I really tried to like it but it was pretty disgusting. Food was cold and unappetizing. It is $26.95 a person, which is terribly high for the variety of food offered. Do NOT buy. You will be sorry!
Review 92:The location is perfect. Cable cars and BART right outside the door. Very safe and professional neighborhood located on Embarcadero. We walked to ATT Park for Giants game. Close to everything we wanted to do. Room was very large for SF hotels. Very comfortable. There was a 4.1 earthquake and our room on the 10th floor shook a lot! Valet parking very quick and efficient. We didn't have to wait but a couple minutes.
Review 93:We had asked for a roll away bed upon arrival, and told they would have to find us one and would bring it up to the room. We stayed for 3 nights and never did receive the bed. We followed up several times, but never got the bed. Also upon check in the TV did not work. We had to make 3 phone calls to get somebody to show up to fix the problem. Very disappointed in the staff and the way the issues were handled.
Review 94:We liked staying here because of the proximity to the Wharf and AT&T Park. Very disappointed in staff. We will have to rethink about where we stay in the future.
Review 95:The room smelled very badly (chemical smell). It was not as nice of a room as the last Hyatt that we stayed in. Bring a magnifying mirror if you like to have one, they do not have them. Bay view is partial, if you step out and peek around the corner.
Review 96:The inner building was beautiful.
Review 97:The location was perfect for us. Lots of dining options near the hotel. Beautiful view across the bay from our room. Transport available out the front of the hotel.
Review 98:-i wish we were able to stay in the higher floors for better views - the bathroom style is a bit old - being in the financial district the area starts to get quiet early so it might not appeal to those who would like to stay late at night
Review 99:I like the location of the hotel . You could walk to pier 39 and union square and there are different kinds of public transport just out outside the hotel. The staff are helpful and friendly and they let us check up earlie.
Review 100:Large formal occasions that are celebrated in the lobby should not have loud live band music as it echoes to the top of the atrium and sleep is impossible. Also the entry from the street to the lobby is well disguised !!!!!
Review 101:Upgrade to Regency Club was a surprise but too many traveling with young children spoil the ambience.
Review 102:The club level rooms were ideal.....you could grab a little breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine in the afternoon after a full day. And the location was perfect - near the Ferry Building, AT&T Park, the BART and on a cable car line.
Review 103:Room needed maintenance - curtain rail had fallen from its mountings - didn't get fixed immediately when I raised it Room really needed a refurb - as a club room it seemed a little shabby
Review 104:Excellent location Regency Club facilities were great
Review 105:Not the cheapest and the scenic bar has a 75 dollar entry fee! Ridiculous. Also road works at night! Not their fault though and they were apologetic.
Review 106:Great hotel with an awesome atrium bar area. Just by the Ferry pier. Brill location. V comfortable rooms. V friendly staff. Food and drink surprisingly affordable.
Review 107:The room was overall clean but there were some toothpaste stains on the tap handles in the sink and the bathroom tiles had a bit of grime on them. Not a big deal but for a 5 star hotel and for the amount we pay this is something we did not expect!
Review 108:Location Location Location! Excellent location! We got a room with the Bay View which was awesome!! Free Wifi is a huge plus! The tram and public transit is located right outside the hotel door. It's walking distance to Fisherman's Wharf which is where all the activities are.
Review 109:63$ per night for parking, there should be an info about this on booking.com on check out - they tried to use a different (bigger) price that it was supposed by my booking.com reservation
Review 110:view, location
Review 111:Parking too expensive,we wanted to self park but as we had a roof box weren't allowed to.we never took the car out during our stay so having to $180 was very annoying. No pool.
Review 112:Hotel was wonderful, loved everything about it,didn't get room we had booked, but staff took care of it and we were moved for 2nd and 3rd night.
Review 113:We asked to add a bed in our room but it took a couple of times to have it delivered. We were surprised that the fitness center and business center are so small.
Review 114:The location is excellent and the view is beautiful.
Review 115:At times I found them a little mean considering the prestige of the hotel i.e. Only one tea bag in the room, and when I called to ask for complementary robes (as a note in the room said could be requested) I was told they could only send 2 as they have to be washed and pressed after use and I might take them home with me (!). Also, note that a king room only has one bed (we booked it for 2 adults and 2 children but on arrival found that we would have to pay $25 for a roll away bed so we swapped it for a double.
Review 116:Great room with a view of the bay and balcony
Review 117:wifi a little slow, but workable. one of those schemes where they pretend its free, but actually has only the slowest tier for free. bathroom small / dated.
Review 118:generally a very functional 4 star hotel; everything worked pretty well, convenient to Bart. room spacious.
Review 119:A graduation ceremony in the lobby right outside our door started at 9:00 AM on a Saturday. Iron didn't work. Alarm clock not reset. Coffee maker didn't work. Extension cords taped across hallway floor.
Review 120:Large room. Atrium. Front desk staff friendly.
Review 121:Requested room with view, but did not get it originally. Had to call back to front desk, of course an upgrade but then I had view with balcony patio. Patio great for evening, but horrible for breakfast with sand blasting on side building! The cost for overnight parking was too high.
Review 122:Location and surrounding amenities were good
Review 123:1. reserved a club room with a balcony and received a room without balcony. the reception tried to convince me that an unopenable window is a "French balcony" and did not offer a discount. 2. club rooms are obliged to eat in the club floor without telling that this is compulsory. we had one breakfast in the main restaurant, they tried to charge us while we deleted the money from the signed slip. 3.room 1601: the architecture of the shower/toilet is not acceptable. one can hardly enter this small "room" and shut the door. this is not appropriate for a declared high level hotel.
Review 124:Manager was rude when I questioned the bill held my funds for a week valet parking was a cluster beep and 64 a night concera was very pleasant and helpful view was amazing but the fighting over the extra charges ruined it for me and my wife too bad it was our 28th wedding anniversary
Review 125:View conceria very nice and helpful
Review 126:Wished breakfast had been provided as I read it had after I already made the reservation. One breakfast for 2 cost $80! Way too much. 17.50 for a waffle, granted with fresh fruit.
Review 127:Just about everything
Review 128:Shower room was small but made up by the actual shower being very powerful
Review 129:Having the club room was great! The room was lovely and clean & great size! Staff were very attentive.
Review 130:The breakfast was expensive and poor choice. There was a lot of building work going on in the main foray when we stayed which was very noisy.
Review 131:The room view was okay, the other side towards the habour would have been amazing. Comfortable room but over priced. Cable cars stop right outside the hotel convenient walking distance to places.
Review 132:The room was definitely not worth the money. It was a very simple room and was incredibly noisy. You could hear everything in the atrium outside the door (Bar/restaurant) and all the city noise outside the window.
Review 133:Very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 134:Breakfast does not worth. Valet parking is way too expensive.
Review 135:This is our first time and first stay in US. We expect warm and cozy nights with much exotic experiences. The hotel doesn't have luxury and fashion style. The facilities are ok. I book it mostly for the location. Very close to Ferry Building.
