Reviews for Inn at Morro Bay

Review 1:No luggage stand/rack in the room

Review 2:Great location. Very comfortable for a solo traveler. Groups were having a good time but being alone was not awkward.

Review 3:The entire staff acted as if we were a pain, just by being on property. It was as if all they wanted to do was go home. The hotel was completely empty, except for a few people, and I suppose they thought those few people weren't worth their time. We called to see if the restaurant was open, they said yes. When we walked over, they closed it. We asked if we could move rooms because others were available, they said no. They were rude. I would NEVER recommend this property to anyone.

Review 4:The view from the lobby was beautiful

Review 5:Shower room could be updated...but OK for us

Review 6:Beautiful, serene and quiet place to rest on our way up North. Our room was upgraded...perfect view of the bay.

Review 7:Would have liked more counter space in the bathroom and a larger shower stall.

Review 8:The garden view was beautiful. Woke up to the sound of rain pouring and the fireplace running. It was magical. Would definitely recommend the stay here. The room was larger than imagined to be and very comfortable. The view from the outdoor deck by the restaurant is gorgeous!!

Review 9:One morning there was a continental breakfast, but the next day there was none. Not even coffee!

Review 10:Beautiful dining room overlooking the bay. The entire place seemed tastefully updated.

Review 11:There was no refrigerator in the room, that was a little bit of an inconvenience. The upstairs guest, you would think that they were moving the furniture up there at times. And one more thing, booking.com you need to up date you maps. Your directions were very incorrect. I had to call The Inn to get the right directions. Please up date for further use.

Review 12:It was fairly quiet for the majority of time that we spent there. The grounds were kept up nicely. The stuff members were nice and polite. And the room was clean.

Review 13:One of our window screens was slightly broken and we told reception. But by the time we had made it back to our room the maintenance man was already there to fix it!

Review 14:The location was superb, we had a lovely room overlooking the bay at ground level. It was spacious and clean with great facilities. The breakfast was laid out very nicely in the morning with a good choice of hot and cold food. We found the staff to be very helpful and polite and the food in the bar was very good. My husband said it was the best burger he had throughout our whole 3 weeks in the West Coast!

Review 15:There really wasn't anything I didn't like. However I did wish the bar stayed open past 9pm, that there were more of a variety for food items on the menu and that the pool was heated.

Review 16:I liked the location and the nice views of the bay. The room was large with a nice fireplace and balcony where we could see the bay and Morro Rock. I also liked the hot tub.

Review 17:Hot. No air conditioning nor ceiling fans. Despite being next to thewater, you'd think it would be cool. Not the case. We are in adrought and there is no cool breeze. My husband and I slept with thewindows open and no sheets and we were still hot. Also, breakfast buffetis not free! $30 for two people with one small glass of orange juice. Asdelicious as it was (and convenient), you probably could find a bettermeal for less.

Review 18:Location! Beautiful. Close to hiking trails. Next to the golf course.Close to the water and shops (driving distance less than 2 miles).

Review 19:$10 dollars each for breakfast but hardly anything to choose from. We arrived at 20.45 to hotel but everything in morro bay closes at 9pm so struggled to find anywhere to eat.

Review 20:The hotel itself was beautifully decorated and location of hotel was great. Rooms were very comfortable.

Review 21:Loud music after 10:00 coming from the pool, then from the room above us. We had to call the front desk twice. Quiet talking was heard from the room next door - poor acoustics.

Review 22:The view from the property. The breakfast was good but not included.

Review 23:We paid to move to an upgraded room with a view, and while the rest of the property is well manicured the "upgraded rooms look like a dirty parking lot facing the water. There is a lot of potential but it's just not worth the money. We had specifically booked this property because they had a pool, we soon realized that the pool was not heated and that the hot tub was out of commission. Again this property could be really amazing but I would not pay this amount again. Also be warned that you will end up with a car covered in bird feces due to the proximity of the state park. They do offer windshield washing stations.

Review 24:The location was great, right on the edge of the state park. It was clean and parking was easy.

Review 25:The pillows were small and not comfy, no air conditioning, cramped room, expensive buffet, slow service in restaruant and staff was not very outgoing but just seemed to be around.

Review 26:Location, easy parking, the flowers and landscaping, look of the hotel registration area.

Review 27:The pool was out of order, we were unable to access one of our rooms so had to be moved, resulting in less beds available than booked. The boiler was out of order initially but they got it sorted as quickly as they could. The room cards did not work half the time and we had to keep going back to reception to get them programmed. Saving grace was the staff who seemed to have a lot of problems to sort, always seemed happy to help though.

Review 28:Nice location, next to the golf course, staff friendly and helpful

Review 29:We were very surprised with this hotel, our room was excellent better that what we have received in some 4 star hotels. We were also very impressed with the food from their restaurant and the sea view!

Review 30:Asked for two beds. Second bed was never cleaned. Had dirty sheets and Kleenex in it. Room never cleaned the 4 days of our stay. Had to ask for creamer, sugar and towels each day. Families with kids let their kids run around and be too noisy. Suggest kids be put in the back sections of hotel.

Review 31:Great location. Beautiful view from our room. Great room size with kitchenette. Restaurant and bar were very nice. Great Martina's but very limited and expensive menu.

Review 32:Mold in shower, hot tub was cold, guarantee check in at 4pm, but room was not ready, I had to argue to get the room we booked and ended up with a tiny room in a corner.

Review 33:The proximity to Morro State Park

Review 34:Wonderful setting and fully refurbished lobby and restaurant area are fantastic. Sunset view is a must from this area. Rooms are simple and tastefully decorated, with spacious bathrooms and all creature comforts needed.

Review 35:No hot water for 24 hours. No water at all for 12 hours. No notices, no apologies, no discounts. I spoke with management very respectfully asking for any kind of discount for present stay or future and received absolutely nothing. I will not be back. Classic example of no ability of management to handle a bad situation. If this was the only thing wrong it would not be so bad. But one other example- the pool was green. Not a little, but nearly mossy green. Disgusting. Could not see the bottom.

Review 36:Not a bad property, but not very well maintained. Very inflexible and inexperienced staff.

Review 37:room, not nice and a bit durty, feel not renivated since a while

Review 38:the locarion, just by the sea, the receptionnist was nice and gave me a discount when i told her i dodnt lije the room, still not worth the price I paid for

Review 39:Things seem to be pretty old. In the bathroom we couldn't place our toiletries. There was a lot of bird poop everywhere outside. Other than that we liked the stay

Review 40:The bar was nice. Also the jacuzzi was nice.

Review 41:There was no refrigerator in our room, the coffee maker was missing a very important part. The door to our room was difficult to open and close. The pool area was not very well kept up; ie. towels laying on the ground.

Review 42:The location was good. The room was a nice size as was the bathroom. The staff was friendly and helpful when needed.

Review 43:Small rooms, no air conditioning, no screens on sliding door or bathroom, no microwave or fridge, bad pillows, no water pressure, paper-thin walls.

Review 44:Location

Review 45:Receptionist chewing gum, dealing with phone calls and leaving waiting guests standing there then forgetting what she was doing with the guests. Wifi was poor at best. Guest permitted to use pool/spa outside of permitter times. A dog in the dinning area. Considerable walk to CBD.

Review 46:To far away for not having a resturant. The breakfast was over priced. Our coffee wasnt refilled in our room. Maybe a good location for older people but not for young couples with kids.

Review 47:Nothing - all wonderful

Review 48:So friendly, clean and welcoming despite an electrical storm which had caused a flash flood they still found us a room early giving us even more time to explore the beautiful Morro Bay

Review 49:Room was very well furnished but just slightly small - OK for one night but a bit longer may have been a problem of clothes storage

Review 50:The location just inside the State Park was good but just a little to far to walk into town

Review 51:The party couple on balcony next to us, no ac so had to open slider to balcony and it sounded like the party went on for hours. Night air with cigar smoke filling our room. Not a complainer, just wasn't the best night in Morro Bay. Bird sanctuary next to hotel, beware of the smell and the dive bombers.

Review 52:Beautiful Location. Breakfast was nice but required vouchers???

Review 53:Had to get room keys replaced 3 times because they wouldn't work, paint was peeling, staff wasn't knowledgeable, patio furniture was broken & in need of repair. Were not impressed!

Review 54:Location was nice.

Review 55:No complaints.

Review 56:We had a clean and spacious room. The hotel staff was very professional and helpful. We'd stayed here many times in the past and thought the room upgrades were quite nice.

Review 57:Needed larger soap for the shower.

Review 58:Liked having breakfast included. I understand this is going away after the restaurant opens. Too bad. Its a nice plus.

Review 59:Only one small thing, and I wish I didn't even have to write it because I really enjoyed this room. One of the towels was still a little dirty. But everything else was really clean.

Review 60:The staff was wonderful. The guy at the front desk was so professional and polite but still very approachable, he upgraded our room because of a minor mishap that was going on between them and booking.com. The renovations were also looking really good. When they're done, the place is going to be awesome!!

Review 61:Great staff and location but the place is a dump. It was clean but paint coming off the ceiling and the walls were so thin we could hear the conversation of our neighbors. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST THIS PLACE-do not go!!

Review 62:The internet was horrible. The inn was built for luxury but is lacking in room maintenance.

Review 63:The location was fascinating and the weather was interestingly foggy. A large room with 2 queen beds situated to increase privacy.

Review 64:Not a bad experiance but the room was very hot and there is no AC along with the fact if you open your sliding door at night for cool air from the bay there is a security factor of sleeping with your room wide open to anyone walking by. Not a good idea in todays times.

Review 65:The service and room was great along with our view of the Bay from our room.

Review 66:Rooms are small but comfortable.

Review 67:Property was clean, the interior renovations while still in progress look great. The indoor and outdoor eating areas have great views as well the the large outdoor patio area.

Review 68:First night we had a young family next door to us with a baby who cried a lot. We could hear full conversations as there was no soundproofing in the walls. Second night we had a older family who talked a lot. Which is fine. But it started at 6 in the morning. With the TV as well. Unbelievable. The rooms weren't cheap and to have no soundproofing defies any explanation

Review 69:Nice bay view from breakfast room

Review 70:We can't wait for the remodeling project to be completed. Not a negative comment, we are just interested in what the new improvements will look like.

Review 71:The garden view rooms are lovely. The beds are very comfortable and we love the deck. It's only a few minutes drive from Main Street and the Embarcadero, located in a very peaceful part of Morro Bay. Also, right over the road from a lovely golf course.

Review 72:Breakfast was just ok and the fireplace in our room kept turning on and off.

Review 73:Minutes away from restaurants, shops and Morro Bay scenic views for a reasonable price. Rooms were clean and the grounds were very well kept. Pool looked nice as well but it was too cold for us to go swimming!

Review 74:Too much bleach used on sheets (and I'm sensitive to chlorine). Dogs are not allowed in dining room and there were no outdoor tables to eat at.

Review 75:Great place, great location, beautiful pool area, nice staff.

Review 76:They were remodeling and the lobby area was closed. The temporary registration area was challenging to find but the great staff attitudes made it all work.

Review 77:The Landscape, pool area and sea views were beautiful.

Review 78:They were still under going construction...no restaurant or lounge, like we were expecting. The first morning after we arrived there was no hot water. Was not happy with the whole stay. We were told we could get a discount for no hot water. We didn't get one!!

Review 79:It was quiet...that's about it!!

Review 80:My husband and I both woke up with very sore lower backs, having to take ibuprofen to relieve the pain. Bed is way to hard. Even our travelling companions in other rooms experienced the same discomfort. NEW SOFTER BEDS as must! Direct TV needs tuning on the room cables.

Review 81:We loved the room, bath and location. The fireplace was the room heater! Nice!

Review 82:The pool was very clean and sparkling, but too cold to swim in. If you prefer being walking distance to all the little shops on the main drag, than a hotel closer to town is what you want. This hotel isn't that far though.

Review 83:Jacuzzi was wonderful! I liked sitting on the public viewing deck and looking out at Morro Bay. The breakfast was very tasty. Nice peaceful setting amongst eucalyptus groves.

Review 84:They advertise a bar and restoraunt, and a heated pool, none of this existed! The pool wasn't heated and the hot tub wasn't hot. We were tired of traveling for the day and were extremely disappointed the bar, etc. was closed for renovations.

Review 85:We were very displeased with the room. There was no microwave, no place in the bath room to put anything on, not even a tooth brush or tooth paste. I put patio table in the bath room so we would have some place to set things. The worse shower we have ever seen. Also dozens of ants came in the room in the morning. We were also concerned that the heater might set the bed on fire, as it was to near to the bed and unprotected. Very dirty stairs and walkway to room. Room way over priced. We were very disappointed. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. We will not be returning. David and Judy Bryan

Review 86:The energy plant is a bit out of place.

Review 87:Morro Bay area is blessed with spectacular views and natural surroundings. Riding my bike was easy and a wonderful way to experience the lovely terrain.

Review 88:I had found a small yellow pill on the floor by the bed and have young kids. I'm glad I found it before they did . The room could have been better vacuumed

Review 89:Great location !

Review 90:The bed was horrible, probably just as hard as the floor. The room was freezing cold, which made it hard to sleep. There is no thermostat in the room, so I am not sure how you can adjust the temperature.

Review 91:Room was large and nicely decorated. The location of the hotel is great.

Review 92:The check in process was simple but lacked the elegance we were accustomed to. I guess it took away from the professionalism but the staff is great and we think they're still going through some reconstruction in terms of the facilities.

Review 93:Close to everything and loved how affordable yet had a classy feeling. Great place to stay, comfortable and even offered us complimentary breakfast. We liked the fireplace like heater.

Review 94:Breakfast was offered for free because of on-going works, but is really not even worth the walk to the room that now functions as an improvised restaurant, just terrible! There was no mentioning of the on-going works at the Booking.com page, so we only found out one night before our stay when we looked for directions to the property at its website

Review 95:Nice facilities and location; very comfortable bed and spacious rooms; good value for money.

Review 96:Poor in room heating (small, slow wall heater). Should have heated floor tiles in bathroom (cold) No storage in bathroom for personal hygiene items Only one ice machine (too far away) No hot chocolate at breakfast

Review 97:Location, housekeeping services, balcony

Review 98:this was our second trip to this place. We had a great experience the first time and we were going to go there at least once a year. We had a great room by the bay and great experience at the hotel's restaurant. This time was totally different. We had a garden view and the restaurant was closed. I asked to be upgraded to a bay view room but the asked for almost twice the money to get it. The hotel was empty since it was Christmas Eve and it wouldn't make a difference for them to change our room but they didn't. There was at least 5 strands of hair on our pillow. Had a really bad experience and have decided to never go back there again.

Review 99:It's a cute little place. The location is great.

Review 100:Shower only in bathroom

Review 101:Nice, spacious room, easy to transfer luggage to, beautiful grounds and surrounding area near golf course and back bay, lovely staff. The balcony with garden view was also very nice.

Review 102:We have been going here for years. Always look forward to having a drink in the bar at sunset. No one let us know they were doing major construction and there would be no facilities. Add to that that none of the plugs worked in out room and it was a little frustrating. Breakfast could have been much better with little effort. And why not set up a bar outside on the terrace?

Review 103:Location is beautiful. Good beds.

Review 104:Extremely Poor lighting in makeup area. tempature register didn't work. Parking was difficult. Shore area parking needs repaired. No microwave. Pillows too big. Need size selection of pillows.

Review 105:Room was clean with big windows and nice view. Keurig coffee was great. Lots of electric plugs. Nice shower.

Review 106:We were not informed that the restaurant and bar were closed for remodeling. Even though the rooms have been renovated, the lack of towel bars and convenience of having a place to store our belongings in the bathroom were not good. Also, there was only one chair in the room for two people. We did get an extra lawn chair that we used in the room an afterthought. Also, the breakfast available was very low class. The weekend was worse than during the week. No imagination as to what was served. Some people do not like oatmeal every morning. Eggs only one day out of five.

Review 107:The friendliness of the staff in trying to meet our needs. Since we changed rooms half way through our stay we liked the view from the first room and the convenience of parking.

Review 108:The construction, though necessary, certainly put a crimp in our dining choices. The Continental Breakfast was a bit skimpy without much to offer.

Review 109:Room 500 was spacious and well appointed. Plenty of electrical outlets in all the right places. The spa was an excellent place to relax with friends after a long bike ride.

Review 110:This time because of the discounted price we were assigned a small room on the very far edge of the property. No view or air conditioning. Both my wife and I have very bad knees, and had requested a handicap room. we were denied that, even though every handicap parking spot was empty, indicating that handicap rooms were available. one more minor complaint, the pillows were hard as rocks.

Review 111:Location, It is off the beaten path yet on the water. It is located just inside a state park. Very calm and quiet grounds. We have stayed here several times before and loved it.

Review 112:A bit outdated, sheets could be replaced and the breakfast is just a coffee, it should be better for the price.

Review 113:Good location, very fast check in and out, clean

Review 114:Room and facilities have a worn, been around for a long time feel. Rooms are on the small size. Bathrooms are very small and merely functional. Shower easily splatters onto the floor. Minimal. counter space. Room card key system needs upgrade. Breakfast marginal. Guest check-in area a bit too rustic and unprofessional. Sloppy actually.

Review 115:Nice view and large deck area. Location is wonderful. Close to beach but not right on top of it. Easy walk or drive. Close to good local food.

Review 116:The room was pretty small, nothing out of this world, but it still sufficed!

Review 117:I loved being so close to the bay. The nearby scenery was beautiful. The pool and hot tub were nice, room was clean and cozy, and the staff and breakfast were great!

Review 118:The fire pit would not light even though the desk clerk tried numerous times. The room's door could use rubber moulding along the bottom to prevent unwanted bugs into the room

Review 119:The desk clerk was extremely helpful and welcoming. Beds were comfortable and room was clean

Review 120:Breakfast was very poor. If you have a room facing the pool, then it will be very noisy until it closed (usually 2230) - unless you have the privilege of be hosted at the same time of a rock group which will mean that you will have to listen to their inane conversations until 0130 AM, when thankfully some staff came to ask them to stop... If you can have a room facing the bay, then the view is exquisite.

Review 121:The location, the room, the environment.

Review 122:Restaurant closed for refurbishment. Booking incorrect and teenage son only had put up bed when queen bed booked.

Review 123:Beautiful views, friendly helpful staff, idyllic location.

Review 124:No air conditioning. Toilet makes a loud squeal when flushed.

Review 125:Room was nice. Shutters on all the windows. Fireplace. Bed was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 126:It was not bad but we would love to see the inn when it isn't under construction.

Review 127:We liked the setting, our pristine room, the delicious breakfast and the view: part ocean and part garden.

Review 128:Bed bugs bite me so bad I had to go to the doctor. Hotel in renovation and they did not tell about it. Completely overpriced.

Review 129:The rooms had a nice balcony close to a child friendly pool.

Review 130:The breakfast was hit and miss but I think it was because of the refurbishment that was going on.

Review 131:The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The guys on reception were really helpful.

Review 132:Well where do I start, stayed a week, so would have liked not being behind the pool house equipment, more storage in the room, a refrig bigger than a shoe box, black mold in the shower, asked for no service but towels only had to get my own towels each day, the bed was as hard as a board (brought my own foam mattress pad for the bed just in case, it was truly needed), and maybe they could offer a cheap microwave to make hot tea, I won't go back, but for the location...yes it's at the beach.

Review 133:Overall was ok place, at the beach. It was my first time at Morro Bay, usually stay in Cambria which I'm going back to. It does really matter on first impressions. The hotel is under construction and it reflects it!!

Review 134:There was a party on till late in a section of the hotel and it was a considerable walk back from the town.

Review 135:Nice rooms, private balcony, spacious grounds.

Review 136:We were spending a bit more than other guests so it was a tad frustrating that we were left with no refrigerator and a half roll of toilet paper to accommodate two adults. Me being pregnant, I usually don't eat my food right away and I would have liked to save it for later. I also use the restroom frequently and a half roll of toilet paper is hardly enough for both me and my partner.

Review 137:I liked the location and that I was able to check in a bit early.

Review 138:Nothing. About 1 mile from town, but we enjoyed the walk after being stuck in the car all day.

Review 139:Loved the wildlife. In less than 24hrs saw so many things. Great dinner, super shopping. Would have stayed longer had we known as one night not enough.

Review 140:The hotel was in an amazing location. The staff were truly accommodating, and efficient. I've never been to morrow bay so it was luck that I found a little piece of heaven. The room was huge, the patio to the ocean was calm and clean. The room kept clean my three nights I was there. For a romantic get away with a great lovation I recommend this place for anyone.

Review 141:Upgraded to ocean view but need really to be on block nearest front as not really worth extra money.

Review 142:Ideal location on edge of town but walkable. Close to lovely state park and beaches.
