Reviews for Cascade Lodge
Review 1:We stay here often and the rooms are always super clean. The staff which are the owners are very pleasant to deal with. If you like chinese food walk up the street about 200 feet to great food.
Review 2:The bathroom floor was so cold! We had to stand on the mats. Which isn't bad. Just my only comment. It was winter in Bend. ;)
Review 3:What an adorable place! It was winter when we were there so I don't know about the pool, but the room was adorable. Super comfortable and very unique.
Review 4:The only complaint we have is the water pressure in our shower. The first two days were okay then for the remainder if our stay our shower had little to no water presure. Other than that we loved our stay.
Review 5:We loved the location and room service always made sure we had fresh towels. The room was just right for us.
Review 6:The property has been "rehabbed". Maybe they're still in process. Some of the beauty was only skin deep. For example, the faucet handle in the bathtub was cheap and kept falling off. The ice machine was located outdoors, and frozen up. And the door that was supposed to keep it inside and unfrozen was knocked off its hinges, making it difficult to access. It would have been nice if more of an effort had been made to keep the driveways ice free (or sanded). Walking around the parking lot was dangerous. The WIFI doesn't work in the rooms. You have to be out in the parking lot to get reception.
Review 7:The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. There was a nice doggie area. I appreciated that the bathroom was really clean. My husband like the fact that the TV worked. The decor was nice. It seemed like they'd put some thought into making the room a nice place to hang out, and not just another motel room. The cleaning staff was friendly and efficient.
Review 8:Great overall. I would stay here again, and probably will!
Review 9:Rooms were updated nicely! And extremely clean. The staff/owners were friendly and helpful. Very surprising value!
Review 10:Obviously a little older property, but very clean and well maintained. Great water pressure in shower. Microwave and mini fridge/freezer in room.
Review 11:Front offfice had a distinct odor but getting past that, the room was decent (clean towels and linens, comfy bed) but I don't think worth the price. I ended up paying over $80 for a two queen bed room and I think the value was probably in the low $50 range. It was a late booking and I was not in the mood to shop around so I get what I got. It appears that the owners have tried to maintain the property but also seems that the age of the place means that there is a constant need for upgrades. Finally, and something that the management can't control, someone in the parking lot idled their low humming auto for about 1/2 hour in the very early hours of the morning. Stuff like that happens sometimes.
Review 12:It was just good enough
Review 13:The rooms are very dark with low ceilings and decorations and furniture a bit garish No counter space at all in bathroom. We had neighbors partying all night next door and in parking lot outside our room that kept us up all night but this was not the hotels fault . Window view out is of parking lot
Review 14:Decent place for the money and the manager was nice. Bed was comfy & room clean and just 5 min to downtown Looks like a nice pool and grounds very clean
Review 15:Room felt really clean, large bathroom & comfortable bed! Centrally located. Quick access to turn off for Mt Bachelor, Old Mill & Down town.
Review 16:The young man at the front desk could use better manners like using the words please and thank you.
Review 17:The motel was close to main highways. The decor was very interesting. It was clean and quiet.
Review 18:No complimentary breakfast - At least a grab and go sandwich bar/fruits would have earned this hotel a perfect 10.
Review 19:Spacious and clean with all the basic needs in place. This room was surprisingly worth every dollar I paid. Although, there was no complimentary breakfast, I would recommend this hotel for the friendly staff, clean and spacious rooms they have.
Review 20:This is a no-frills hotel. Don't let the next door hotels fool you. They give off the no-tell motel vibe, but Cascade Lodge was very well maintained. I have stayed in higher rated hotels that were not as clean and comfortable as this one. If you want a hotel where you will be hanging out all day, this is not the place. But if you want a nice place to sleep, in a central location to downtown Bend and the Mill District, I would highly recommend Cascade Lodge.
Review 21:Mattress was ultra firm, which is too firm for me.
Review 22:#27 is a roomy suite with separate bedroom and jacuzzi tub. Includes microwave, fridge, toaster, ceramic coffee mugs and heavy glass tumblers. Also has couch and nice armchair
Review 23:I has some trouble connecting to the internet but could if I started at the office and walked to my room. Not a problem given
Review 24:This Lodge was more than excellent !!! I was upgraded for free to a gorgeous room with king size bed. The decor was lovely, clean, well maintained, spacious and homey. All great features for a long work day. It was quiet too.
Review 25:Bed was pretty loud and squarely but was very comfortable and nicely made!
Review 26:Very clean! Atmosphere very friendly and welcoming! I liked that they had real coffee cups and glasses for drinking out of. They also had French vanilla creamer for the coffee. I would definitely stay here again!
Review 27:Nothing. Everything about the room was great and very worth the price.
Review 28:The room was spacious and very clean! I was very happy with how comfortable and updated the room was.
Review 29:I wish the pool really was heated!
Review 30:We've stayed here before and again we found it very clean, very friendly and helpful staff and good value for the money. Even though the motel is located on a busy street, it is very quiet.
Review 31:nothing........
Review 32:owner was extremely nice and helpful, we got a 2 queen room and I would compare with any high dollar motel. I travel 3-4 times a year with my cousin and this is the best budget motel we have stayed in of all the USA!! We are in our mid 70's...........STAY HERE
Review 33:Hard hard pillows. Tub was too noisy to run. Room needed deep cleaning. Had a bad smell. Had to go out and buy room freshener. Light fixture needed bulbs. Room was very dark.
Review 34:Nice bed. Nicely decorated. Jacuzzi tub.
Review 35:This place is gem among cheaper motels. It's well cared for and reminds me more of a boutique hotel than a roadside motel. Beds are soft and not the usual slab of granite you find in most places at this price point. The place is downright charming. And close enough to downtown Bend.
Review 36:Room was not as booked, Jacuzzi tub in first room was real small, room was not as large as described and you might have been able to see a mountain if you climb on the roof, maybe. The shower in the second room was a little grungy. P.S. Bed was really really firm.
Review 37:It was a place to sleep. It did have a nice looking pool. Staff did move us after some discussion.
Review 38:Did not receive room servicing one off the days. Other days items not replenished.
Review 39:Good location. Close to Old Mill District and not far from downtown. Easy access to hwy.
Review 40:The rooms of this older type of motel are not very soundproof, especially with cars parked right in front of the rooms (but noise from the road is not an issue, for most rooms are set back from the road). Only very few options for breakfast / dinner in a walking distance.
Review 41:Nice & clean rooms, well kept property.
Review 42:Not bad just disappointed. After patronage of two weeks we wanted to extend stay for one night. They wanted to charge us $50.00 more then the rate we were paying. I thought this was not good policy.
Review 43:Quiet. Convenient. Great ice machine. The bed was perfect for us... Way comfortable. Just simple.
Review 44:Nothing!
Review 45:If you're in Bend, OR, this is a great place to stay. Yes, the outside looks straight out of a 1950's postcard, but the rooms are BIG as was the Samsung flat screen TV. The microwave and refrigerator were most appreciated. I'd definitely go back.
Review 46:Easy and comfortable, could park right outside the room, even though on a main road it was quiet, inexpensive. We would have stayed another night but it was booked out, the staff were helpful in advising another motel close by
Review 47:would have preferred a room further from the highway noise, but those were already booked next time I will request that when I make the reservation
Review 48:proximity to desired area/value/clean
Review 49:The pool was closed. Was not informed of really anything at check in. Staff was grumpy. Room was damaged and bathroom was dirty.
Review 50:The location was decent.
Review 51:There were bulbs out over the table and the bedroom lighting was poor, just adequate.
Review 52:Layout. Bedroom had bifold doors for privacy if others still in living area. Bathroom was well appointed.
Review 53:Our room was in the corner, and we could not park in front of our place. There are lamps at the bed, chair, and desk, but no good light to see where you walk in the middle of the room, especially at night.
Review 54:Good location, nice and clean room. The refrigerator, microwave, and A/C worked well. Fair price.
Review 55:Located on a busy street (highway) where many of the other motels are. This is fine if looking for a clean and convenient place to sleep, but does not offer the ambiance of downtown Bend. It is, however, a very close drive to get to beautiful walking areas.
Review 56:Cleanliness, heated pool, location easy to get in and out of Bend for access to Smith Rock and High Country Museum. 5 minute drive to Old Mill or downtown, good Vietnamese Restaurant nearby.
Review 57:The refrigerator made a strange noise so we unplugged it for the night and plugged it back in before we left.
Review 58:It was very convenient to the two locations we were going between during our stay in Bend, OR. The bed was VERY comfortable and I slept like a baby.
Review 59:Bathroom for non-deluxe rooms are on small side;
Review 60:Spacious rooms, quiet even though near the highway, no riffraff people; parking in front of rooms; single story, no stairs; small fridge and microwave.
Review 61:I was a little nervous going into it that the quality of the place would not be too great based on the price, but I was looking for an affordable place for several days. I was blown away by the cleanliness and friendly staff. I've stayed at chain hotels for double the price that were half as nice. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone. Easily accessible, great price and clean as a whistle!
Review 62:The person who checked us in and gave us the key was kind, friendly and outgoing. the room was super comfy and unique. I loved it. The price was less than half of what I paid at a different nearby hotel that didn't compare in quality or service.
Review 63:We had been traveling for a couple of weeks and staying at various hotels and were so pleasantly surprised with this little gem. The owner was a very nice man very pleasant and knowledgable . The room was clean the bed was especially comfortable ,quiet and spacious, especially considering the price was so reasonable. We would stay here if we were ever in the Bend area again.
Review 64:Very clean, comfortable beds and spacious rooms. Parking was a bit tight but adequate. Check-in was friendly and efficient. Would definitely return.
Review 65:No breakfast. Rating is too good to be true. Ads should mention it is a motel rather than lodge since the later is deceiving. Colors of the interior is not appealing, looks dirty.
Review 66:Location is great. Easy to find. Pricing is reasonable.
Review 67:The room was perfect, not too big, not too small. Used the table for computer, work, artwork, eating. Loved watching old movies on cable. Pool was sweet. Great location. Quiet, love the 1 story building. Old school, awesome. Will be back.
Review 68:There were only 2 bath towels for a family of 4. This motel is off of a highway that is very convenient to downtown Bend, but isnt in the town center.
Review 69:This is a fine motel - nice swimming pool - decent sized room.
Review 70:The hotel was in a great location near the Old Mill District. Great value. I love parking in front of my room. The ice machine wasn't brand new but it gave out great ice!
Review 71:Had to go back to office to ask for basic toiletries. Washbasin stopper broken. Wine fridge instead of regular fridge!
Review 72:Very posh room, elaborate bedding, clean, all ground-level rooms.
Review 73:it is convenient, quiet. great swimming pool. very clean good water pressure. comfortable bed. nice décor. this is our third year. very nice and helpful owner they answer all our questions help us find our way around town.
Review 74:The air conditioner was very loud. There was no breakfast. There were no kitchen supplies such as plates or silverware.
Review 75:The room was spacious and pleasant. The location was convenient.
Review 76:The only problem with this motel was the bed underneath all the beautiful bedding was an old worn out bed that was quite uncomfortable. My wife and I had a hard time sleeping.
Review 77:This motel looks like nothing from the outside but is very nicely appointed inside and it's obvious the people who own it care about it. We were very comfortable here except while we slept.
Review 78:If I had to complain about anything, it would be the ignorant people that take advantage of business's, and ignore policy and rules. This business has been pet friendly, but some people that bring pets, are rude and inconsiderate of the guests and the property owners. One instance that stands out...a man opened the gate to the pool area, and walked his dog inside the fenced area around the pool...an area that is clearly marked as a no pet zone. This is an area where I have seen small children rolling and paying in the grassy area around the concrete pool area. The man's dog did his duty, and was gone. Before I could get dressed and out the door to confront the man, he had disappeared.
Review 79:I have been staying at Cascade Lodge for years, every summer. The owner has taken steps to improve the property every year, and he has done a nice job. In the middle of the complex is a very nice fenced in open-air pool area. Clean and usually warm. In my opinion, the Cascade Lodge is the biggest bang for the buck in the Bend area. The property is located one block from a restaurant, fast food place, service station, and supermarket. Across the street there is a modern clean Laundromat.
Review 80:Excellent value & location. The property was well kept and the rooms were very clean. Pool lovely after a day sightseeing. Lots of hot water. No breakfast BUT a diner Sargents, half a block away that serves amazing food.
Review 81:Wifi was not dependable .
Review 82:Great place! Everything was clean. Owner even upgraded us to a suite for the same price as a room with just a bed. The grounds were well kept.
Review 83:The king sized bed was beautiful but much too soft for our comfort. Also the pillows were too thick, we had a rough night. Great just for lounging or watching tv.
Review 84:The location was very central and the room and bathroom were spacious and clean. Also very quiet with no road noise. Nicely decorated.
Review 85:I've stayed here several times and the staff has always been very good. This time the gentleman was a little less accomodating with me needing a late checkout (1hour). Also the amenities in the room were a little lacking, shampoo etc.
Review 86:The room was cleanot and the bed was really comfy.
Review 87:Free WiFi was incredibly slow
Review 88:Comfortable, clean, air conditioning, cable TV and free coffee. Shampoo and soap with plenty of towels in the room. Easy to walk downtown!
Review 89:I didn't like that the only booking available was a 2 bed "deluxe" room until I checked in and was given the keys to a tiny single bed room.
Review 90:I liked that the maids came walking into my room 30 min before checkout. While I was still naked in bed.
Review 91:There was sugar ants in our room and bathroom. Not a big deal to me, and as warm as it's been this year bugs have been an issue everywhere in the PNW, but it might bother some people. Also, for $170 bucks a night it seemed a little underwhelming. At least they should have breakfest. But when I booked with booking.com it booked me for two rooms instead of one. The staff called me to clarify if I wanted I one room or two,and I said I wanted only one and they didn't charge me a cancellation fee (something that chain hotels always do) so I appreciated that.
Review 92:The room was much bigger than I expected and it had a huge area right outside the bathroom to get ready for the day. If you're traveling with multiple women, the can all get ready at once! And when I booked with booking.com it booked 2 rooms instead of 1 and they called Me to make sure I didn't didn't want two rooms and they didn't charge a cancellation fee. The staff was excellent!
Review 93:The night manager "Bobby" gave our reserved room away before we arrived. We had even called ahead to advise him we would be arriving late. Hes tried to put us into a less expensive, smaller room for the same price by being untruthful about the type of room and price. We requested a refund for the difference in price between the original paid reservation and the new inferior room and instead he told us he would only allow us to cancel the room and leave the motel and try to find another room elsewhere in town (at 130AM). He was deceitful, belligerent, and intimidating. It felt like the experience one might have in a third world country, and not at all what I would expect from a legitimate motel and a booking service that screens it's properties. I will never stay in that motel again and this experience has led me to think twice about low end motels such as this one, regardless of the reviews.
Review 94:Nothing
Review 95:Nothing.
Review 96:Excellent value. The room was completely redone to current standards. Brand new everything. Looked like an interior decorator had a hand in doing the remodel.
Review 97:Staff was not attentive: waited for 10 minutes in the office at check-in while overhearing staff member taking a personal call in the back room.
Review 98:Clean room.
Review 99:I'd asked for 3rd bed online... No one seemed to know that when I arrived and it took a couple of requests before the bed actually was brought to the room at 9 PM (This may have been because the manager's son registered us on arrival -- manager wasn't there at the time - appears to have been poor communication between them)
Review 100:I like how responsive the management is to requests... Very convenient location in Bend... Not fancy but thoughtful amaenities - large freezer in mini-fridge, liquid creamer with coffee maker, table & chairs for breakfast in room - lovely pool, well-maintained
Review 101:There was no empty parking spaces close to my room, so I had to park across the parking lot. There were a couple of electrical outlets I went to use to plug in my laptop but they were dead. So, I had to unplug the microwave oven. The room was dark, too - no lighting.
Review 102:I slept well. The room seemed clean.
Review 103:Wifi pretty poor in the evening, probably needs a more powerful router for more concurrent users. Price expensive, but it was the weekend and it is Bend I guess.
Review 104:Dark decor, so difficult to see cleanliness but, it was spotless. Pool was great. New fridge/freezer in room.
Review 105:It was a great value and close to downtown. We just needed a nice clean bed and bathroom to stay the night at while we enjoyed the town. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean. Room had microwave and refrigerator, flat screen tv - nice updates!
Review 106:room smelled like cover up fragrance, they tried to make rooms look up graded but just painted over old and dirty walls not very pleasant rooms
Review 107:outside area looked nice
Review 108:Lack of breakfast; noisy AC; and the room was a little cramped. There is not anything that sticks out to set this apart from some if its competitors.
Review 109:Price and convenience. There is also a pool. There has been an attempt at upgrading this facility, but they could have gone further to bring this up to date. For a quick layover on Hwy 97, it did the trick.
Review 110:The air conditioning unit was very loud. Nothing against the hotel itself, but it is not in walking distance to grab a bite to eat if you didn't want to have to drive.
Review 111:The room felt more like a bed and breakfast than a typical hotel room. It was very clean, updated decor and furnishings. Ability to park right outside of the room would be very helpful if you had small children or lots of stuff to carry in.
Review 112:We would have loved a few plates and silverware in the kitchenette. We forgot ours!
Review 113:This was a beautifully appointed room. Everything was inviting and very clean. I highly recommend this hotel.
Review 114:Booked on last minute notice because of a failed hotel elsewhere. The kind folks upgraded our room and we're very polite. Nice and quiet. Very comfortable and clean. Definitely would stay again. Within walking distance to many good eats and stores.
Review 115:One reason I chose this motel is that the website said they had continental breakfast, and when we went to the office in the morning they said they stopped doing breakfast two years ago. Not a huge deal, but it would be great if they could update their website so families can be prepared.
Review 116:Comfy beds, super quiet room, friendly staff, and the AC worked great in the 100 degree heat.
Review 117:The room was very clean. You could tell there had been upgrades in the bathroom! The location was centrally located. The staff was friendly and very helpful!! The price was soo reasonable.
Review 118:We have stayed here 4 times. This time, check in person was not very friendly. King bed in room 40 has a groove in it where people sleep and a rather large hump in the middle, Not comfortable!
Review 119:Close to most everything. In town but very quiet!
Review 120:We liked how clean our unit was as well as the grounds and swimming pool and area. We also liked the fact that there was a refrigerator and microwave and the bed was comfortable.
Review 121:I arrived at about 4 PM and the room had not been cleaned and so I had to wait until the staff cleaned the room. I upgraded to the king bed and the 40 inch TV but found that the cable signal was only 480I. The price is high considering the fact that there is no breakfast.
Review 122:The room was clean and had a air conditioner although it was on the loud side. The bed was firm and had the right amount of cushion. The room was larger than most hotel rooms.
Review 123:No frills. Very functional and comfortable. Quick check in. Answered all our questions and no hassles. Only there for one night but everything went well. Really a motel, but in the best sense of this: Park right outside the door, looked to have a nice large pool. Everything was neat and trim.
Review 124:train whistle sounds, lack of good reading light & clock in room. Tub had stains. Couldn't connect to wifi--
Review 125:Welcoming room with really comfortable bed. Enjoyed pool. Very clean. Large cozy reading chair. Friendly staff. Small table & chairs. Nice fridge & freezer.
Review 126:There has been an attempt to update the rooms and they were nice but Bend is expensive and this hotel in another area would be priced at least 30%-40% less.
Review 127:Owner was friendly and the hotel grounds and rooms were clean.
Review 128:WiFi signal was a bit weak.
Review 129:Place was very neat and clean. Room was nice with all amenities that were stated. Pool was clean and operational. Great value in a location that is quite pricey!
Review 130:On the way south we stayed in a King room and loved it. On the way home we stayed in the queen room #25 next door. All good except the bed sagged in the center and my wife and I were awake most of the night hanging on to the edges. Also the shower valve didn't work right. I took the time to fix it myself since it probably would've taken longer to get the super to fix it. Also could not get AAA discount or move to a queen room (no queens available when I booked) because we went through bookings.com. On the way home we just got the room and the AAA discount.
Review 131:Quiet surroundings & quiet air conditioner.
