Reviews for Inn of Chicago Magnificent Mile

Review 1:We consider this a budget hotel. We thought the room was clean, the bed was comfy, and the shower hot. The rooms are simple. The staff very friendly and you can't beat the location.

Review 2:Bathroom seemed a little less than spotless. Nothing too horrible though. Wifi not included.

Review 3:Proximity to Michigan Avenue. Great scenery. Close to many parking structures.

Review 4:No wifi in rooms, very inconvenient and annoying. On our last night before we were to depart at 5:30am a group of young men checked into the room next to us and when we returned from dinner our room smelt like cigarette smoke, it was overwhelming. We could smell it as we left the lift. They played loud music and were loud and arrogant. They were talked to by staff but continued to be loud and smoke. We moved rooms which was very disappointed and a massive inconvenience however the staff were accomodating and helpful. Put a real downer on our stay though. The hotel was quite run down and dirty, the gym is very below average with one of the two treadmills out of order.

Review 5:Location was good and staff were friendly. The lobby is a nice area to sit.

Review 6:I didn't like how the listing had portrayed the room as much larger than it was. It was an adequate size but I was expecting larger.

Review 7:I liked how close the hotel was to everything. It was within a short walking distance of a large number of nice restaurants and tourist locations. It was very nice that it was right down the street from the Mag MIle we were able to do some shopping without having to pay for a cab.

Review 8:They had all kinds of stipulations for New Year's Eve. They literally would not let you into the elevator unless the cheap neon green wristband was on your wrist. The walls were also incredibly thin, and we heard literal physical fights throughout the stay. Could also hear word-for-word every conversation in surrounding rooms and hallway. And the bathroom was not clean. I would stay here again if the prices were the same, but I'm astounded at what it was that made the stay unpleasant

Review 9:The proximity to Navy pier was really great, and location in terms of the Chicago attractions and transportation was convenient. The staff for check in and check out, as well as room service was phenomenal. However, the security guard that they hired to keep people from going into the rooms that they paid for on New Year's eve was ridiculous. Horribly rude.

Review 10:They was charging for everything & I feel they shouldn't charge people for parking if we paying all that money to stay there

Review 11:The staff was polite & room was nice size

Review 12:Super classy inside, very well done int design in lobby and bar area. Room was comfortable albeit small. Was given opportunity to take room on higher floor to enjoy a little bit of a view. Front Desk let us have the wifi password for free. Close to everything and you cannot beat the price. Wonderful experience, loved it!

Review 13:We paid for a late Check out on our last day and the house keeper wasn't happy about it she was even making us ugly faces when we were heading to the lobby to check out.

Review 14:Location was great!

Review 15:The valet charges. After 2:00 pm on Sunday there is an additional parking charge of $11.00 per hour. I had them park the car around 4:00 on Friday and at 4:00 pm on Sunday it cost me $22.00 more than the original charge of $52.00 for 2 days

Review 16:The staff were friendly.

Review 17:Right off of Michigan Ave. We were on 20th floor so not much street noise. Perfect location to explore the city museum and shop. Variety of restaurants in the vicinity.

Review 18:The location of the room was exactly what it was worth. However, if I known it would be as that, I would have booked at Hyatt as I usually do. I thought I'd give another brand a chance. But, I'll stick to Hyatt.

Review 19:I liked the location, and the lobby.

Review 20:Rooms are small, outdated. Overpriced for quality of stay. Took really long to bring our car up. If you want in and out privileges with parking get ready to wait. Parking cost 52 bucks a night.

Review 21:Awesome location. Lobby was pretty.

Review 22:The only bad experience was regulating the water temp. in the shower. Either it was hot or cold.

Review 23:The employees at the front desk were very helpful with using the buses to get to attractions. They are able to give us quarters to use the bus

Review 24:The room had no comforter... The shower curtain was ripped. The room was also very dated. The tv would randomly shut off.

Review 25:Great location and a good deal through booking.com

Review 26:The bellmen were more than nice and so accomadating! Being able to check our bags while we go out and shop was great. Plus they were friendly and so nice about it. The bartender was awesome as well!

Review 27:Oops see above, I didn't feel like retyping it in the box.

Review 28:The room was a corner room and upon entering room the site his the inside wall. Very small room, the front door was akward to go in and out of room. I would never use a corner room again. Also, checking in was rediculosly long.

Review 29:Close to Amtrak and Michigan street restaurants . If you need to wait for transportation later they let you check luggage at hotel into you ready to go.

Review 30:Bathrooms were a bit smaller then I am used to, but very clean.

Review 31:Couldn't have been in a better location. Just a short walk to Michigan and everything else.

Review 32:The room was very stale and stuffy. I couldn't get the temperature to cool down even when I set the A/C to the coolest possible setting. There was no ventilation, so the steam from my shower went into the whole room and made it impossible to cool down.

Review 33:The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially when adjusting the rate I had actually reserved (versus the rate that came up on their computer system when I checked in). Loved the proximity to the Magnificent Mile!!

Review 34:The room was extremely small. We also had a complaint on our room at 930pm for being to loud. Some of our friend met us and we welcomed them to the room (mind you five in the room at the time) and concierge knocked on our door asked us to keep quiet or leave.

Review 35:location was perfect.

Review 36:While charming and unique,The lobby and bar area are showing some wear and tear and need a deep cleaning and possibly a makeover.

Review 37:unique hotel within walking distance of Michigan Avenue, great restaurants, sites and shopping. Staff was attentive and upbeat, and room was immaculate.

Review 38:Cold every night, no extra sheet. I asked to use their phone, they told me no, but for another guest they said yes. Superficial staff not helpful....

Review 39:Location was great

Review 40:The halls entering the rooms was trashy. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. The bed wasn't comfortable. Free WiFi wasn't available.

Review 41:The location was great!

Review 42:Same as above

Review 43:The carpet was disgusting, the beds too old, the staff at the reception was not friendly, there was no free wifi in the rooms, and the night from Friday to Saturday cost us over $300!

Review 44:From the impression of the beautiful lobby, I expected more of the room. The room was big, but not very comfortable. There was no vanity anywhere in the room so it was very hard to get ready. The sink in the bathroom was only a sink nowhere to set anything. I had to get ready at the desk in the bedroom. Also the bed was not very comfortable but fine for 2 nights. Last our room was freezing. There was no heat in the room. I tried to turn the temp up but it never reached that so we had to ask for more blankets our second night. If it's a short stay in the city go for it, but don't expect a beautiful room and bring warmer things to sleep in if its cold outside!

Review 45:The location of the hotel was great! We were so close to all of the main things to do in Chicago. And if you needed to take an uber or lyft anywhere is was only about $6.50.

Review 46:the bathroom sink was way to small and needed space to set things on. Because it was the marathon race that weeked our prices were extremely high.

Review 47:the location and the staff was very nice

Review 48:The location if the hotel is wonderful and the lobby is remodeled nicely, but the guest floors and rooms were in disrepair. The carpet in the halls were torn and lumped.

Review 49:The air conditioning system was pretty antiquated--it was only high 50s/low 60s outside, but we couldn't crack the window or turn the vent function on the unit; the air conditioner was very loud throughout the night and didn't cool the room very well.

Review 50:The staff was excellent, letting us check in early when we had only asked to drop bags with the front desk until our check-in. Everyone was incredibly nice.

Review 51:The hotel is in desperate need of a renovation, the carpets are stained and run down, other than the sheets everything in my room was old and dirty. A shame to charge the price they charge for the room.

Review 52:The location

Review 53:Not bad but the hotel is a little dated. Sirens going off all the time did not realize the hospital was so close by.

Review 54:The staff and location were great. Room was comfortable.

Review 55:I reported that my air conditioning wasn't working in my room when I first checked in and I was assured that someone would be sent up to fix it while I was out at dinner. When I came back to my room several hours later the air conditioning was still not fixed. The room was small. The fixtures were dated and tarnished. The bed didn't even have a comforter! Instead it had a flat sheet, thin blanket, and then another flat sheet covering the blanket.

Review 56:The hotel is old, the overall facilities look and feel old, the rug especially, seriously guys, do a rug renovation. Rooms are small but cozy, bring some flip, flops, because of the rug. No fridge.

Review 57:Don't forget, you're paying for the location when booking this hotel. You just can't find anything better located for this money. Walking distance from Hancock center, Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, well connected by bus and subway. Also, there's a whole foods a couple of blocks away.

Review 58:The room was very poorly lit and carpet needed steam cleaning. Stains every where. The head board, night stand lamps were dusty. Room was small. Barely fit my husband and infant (stroller, travel crib, luggages) Washroom was small. And the mattresses on our 2 double beds were really saggy and worn out. This is not a hotel for those who want to relax in their rooms.

Review 59:The location was prime! Exactly where you want to be for shopping, restaurants, site-seeing. Everything was within walking distance. Staff were friendly and attentive too. It's a great place to book if you intend on spending very little time in your room.

Review 60:Dirty, no hangers or towels in the room when we checked in. No Coffee packets in the room. Tiny tiny room. For $365 per night.....extremely disappointed

Review 61:Location. From desk was courteous to us regarding our issues.

Review 62:The rooms were so outdated and not worth the $350 a night fee. Needs some much needed updating. The curtains were disgusting and water damaged and there was no fridge or proper mirror in the room.

Review 63:Cannot beat the location. Absolutely incredible

Review 64:The lack of cleanliness. Mirrors were smeared, carpets were dirty, needs more attention to detail and updating. Very expensive for the quality of this hotel.

Review 65:I don't think there is enough room here. Hallways and bathroom floors were dirty, out of date. Carpet in hallways very worn. Room was very small. The price way way too high for the room. Some staff were not very nice or accommodating, especially on the phone. Was treated like a liar by the front desk staff who insisted I was wrong when I was right. He was aggressive about treating me like a liar and contradicting what I said happened.

Review 66:clean sheets and a comfortable bed

Review 67:I payed 203.00 a night There is a 14,95 fee for internet, in a non secure server. The hotel is old, photos do not reflect reality There is no restaurant, so no possibilities to eat Carpets are the dirtiest, lots of stains air conditioner in my room was falling apart The curtains were dirty, maybe they did not clean them in a couple of years Front desk was not very friendly

Review 68:Location

Review 69:The air conditioning did work properly and did not cool the room down enough. With two people showering, it got extremely hot and humid in the room. It was difficult to get ready (blow dry my hair etc.) without opening our door and going into the hallway to cool of for a minute. I did not call the front desk to fix it, as we were running late, and I am sure the hotel staff would have addressed the situation.

Review 70:The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We were even able to check in about an hour early. The location is also fantastic. A one minute walk to the Magnificent Mile and a minute walk from the wedding we were attending.

Review 71:Bathroom was a bit basic, but clean and tidy. Not really a complaint, everything was clean and worked fine.

Review 72:Excellent location for getting around Chicago. Surprisingly good hotel for the price. Plenty of places for breakfast or dinner very close by, and a 7-11 right across the street. Can walk to all the tourist spots very easily. Half a block off Mag Mile. Nice little terrace on the roof. Would definitely stay here again.

Review 73:All staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Bell staff (Bob) went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of on the day we checked out (held our bags for the day, called us a cab to airport). Very kind. Attached cafe was convenient and very good. Love the hotel rooftop terrace- Great place to have a drink and relax after long day of sightseeing. Location is perfect. We walked to all downtown attractions and Navy Pier.

Review 74:Old bed, very little furnishings, no pictures on the walls, tiny bathroom (almost cruise ship size!), tub and sink would not drain. No interaction with the staff unless we tried. Just felt blah to be there.

Review 75:The location is a block from the mag mile, in the middle of everything.

Review 76:Hotel has been horribly kept. Stretched and saggy, stained carpet in thehallways. Bedrooms are almost bare with no fitted sheets so you can seeyour horribly stained mattress. Bed was sunken in the middle. Bathroomfixtures were hanging off the walls(not properly installed) and alllinens were a dingy, and grey in color. I thought hotels chose white toshow how clean everything is. Not so much at the inn of Chicago. You arepaying for location only and there are cheaper and cleaner hotels on themagnificent mile. Keep searching travelers unless you drink heavily andwill sleep on anything :-)

Review 77:I liked the location to shopping and dining.

Review 78:The size of the room, barely big enough for one person. They have wifi but what they don't tell you is that you have to pay an extra 15 dollars a day for it.

Review 79:Hotel room was VERY small; and the bathroom was incredibly TINY! The view could have been better also.

Review 80:The location was excellent; close proximity to shopping, buses etc.

Review 81:Computers were down the first day and they had chaos in the lobby. Staff was not well trained to assist guests and we believe we were told lies about room availability. The last two nights were great and the change of front desk staff helped, they knew a lot more and we're friendlier.

Review 82:Location, location, location. Also, the bellmen were the best. Very thorough and willing to help us out while with moving rooms, loading cars, and getting keys.

Review 83:Parking $52 a night - cheaper areas nearby Carpet on floor 8 in hallway is dirty and has many stretch rolls - both ugly and a tripping hazard.

Review 84:The location - proximity to eating / shopping / river is great - all walkable

Review 85:Close proximity to fire station that had calls well into the 'wee hours' of the night. Also, air conditioner made so much noise that I turned it off so I could sleep.

Review 86:Convenient location for my business travel. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 87:Omg, this hotel is So rundown! NOT boutique! Rooms, elevators, hallways bathrooms are small and dirty! Room keys didn't work! Would not stay here again! Ick!!!

Review 88:The walls, rugs, furniture, were all very worn, & dirty....1st room they gave us was the size of a closet...we paid extra $75 a night to upgrade to suite...was larger but did not feel any cleaner. For that price we could have stayed at a Marriott. ..

Review 89:The hallways and the rugs were in very bad shape, wallpaper looked bad it gave u an uneasy feeling

Review 90:Room was small but clean bed was very comfortable the bar on the roof was nice to bad it wasn't open past 9[the lobby was nice and the people were friendly

Review 91:That the WIFI was not free in the room.

Review 92:The convenience to everything as I was traveling with my mother. The beds were very comfortable and I will definitely stay here again.

Review 93:Didn't like the room they gave me , it was small. On the 7th floor with a view of the center of building, in which i requested a upper floor. For the money i paid for room it wasn't worth it

Review 94:Things were in waking distance Maid service was great

Review 95:The bed was so uncomfortable and there is a noise of a machine all day all night. To expensive for what we receive

Review 96:Location is great. Near Michigan Avenue

Review 97:The rooms are tiny. They are old and not updated. They look nothing like the website. The outlets are so old plugs fall out. The carpet is nasty and dirty. It is an older hotel however the carpets could be cleaned and property could have been better maintained.

Review 98:The location was nice.

Review 99:WiFi was very slow and spotty. Needs some upgrade.

Review 100:Location is great. Staff were wonderful. Especially Ali, Vic and Roberta. They were very helpful and made our stay better. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Chicago!

Review 101:for the price they should offer complementary continental breakfast, it would help when you have young children with you.

Review 102:clean, quiet. location. Staff indifferent and not very friendly.

Review 103:Ice machines not on every floor....more like Every 4 floors. Air conditioner seemed to "cycle" off about midnight every night and we would have to get up and "restart" it.

Review 104:Great location - central to everything!! Rooftop area - didn't find it till the last night there, but really an awesome area!

Review 105:Small bathrooms and beds. Beds were super comfy but a full was too small for two adults.

Review 106:Staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and cool.

Review 107:Only complaint is the hallways need some sprucing up. When we checked in, we were concerned about our room as we walked down a hall with saggy carpet and worn wallpaper. Room turned out to be good.

Review 108:Close to so much - right off Michigan Avenue, close to CTA, Eataly (yum) and Navy Pier. Lobby doesn't have coffee, but does have direct access to a coffee/pastry shop. Also, Dunkin Donuts coffee available 24 hours a day across street. Didn't use it, but lobby bar open at night was nice.

Review 109:The room was very spacious and clean and was located on the corner of the building so we had lots of windows. The room needs updating and carpets changed but it was still clean which is very good. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. When we first arrived the ac was not cooling well and i called the front desk and maintenance came right away. The ac had to be changed out and it only took about 20 minutes for him tho do that. After that room temp was perfect.

Review 110:If you get the Cheapest room, you will absolutely get to see the tiniest room as well.

Review 111:Was cheapest downtown in general. Although "downtown", for someone who grew up in the city on the north side, this hotel is not in any sort of fun Downtown part. More Otto the east side of Michigan. Greatest convenience was the 24 7/11 across the street

Review 112:We had three separate issues with billing! The hotel is tired, crampedand out-dated. They wanted us to pay $14.95 per device for wifi. It's easy to tell this hotel was beautiful in its heyday butit's seriously time for an update!

Review 113:The location and the rooftop terrace were the only positive aspects ofthis hotel.

Review 114:Bathroom very small but for older hotel acceptable. No breakfast.

Review 115:Location was within walking distance of almost everything we wanted to see and do in Chicago.

Review 116:Massively overpriced for what it is. It's a clear 3* that's for sure. Old marked carpets, dated furniture, doors on cupboards that wouldn't close properly etc. And no facilities for hot water (for tea) only coffee maker.

Review 117:Location is great as is the roof deck.

Review 118:our room was very dated , not as pictures , bedding was not up to standards for the price , feel I paid for its location and that's it . Have stayed at other hotels at a lower rate and my room was much more accommodating

Review 119:water pressure in the tiny bathroom was good , and the roof top terrace was nice

Review 120:The building was dirty carpet in hall need to be replaced like 5 years ago.

Review 121:The room was a good size and clean and comfortable. But had to tell front desk to have the staff vacuum the halls and clean up where someone dropped there dinner.

Review 122:Housekeeping was spotty at best. Free wi-fi throughout the hotel would have been appreciated as business travelers are often working late hours in their rooms!!

Review 123:Friendliness and helpfulness of the staff!

Review 124:Smallest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel. Not even a countertop to set anything on. The elevator at times took 30 minutes due to only 1 working properly. Paint is chipping from walls. Just needs a serious update.

Review 125:Location was perfect. Rooftop terrace was pretty.

Review 126:Had to pay to use non-lobby WiFi, limited electrical outlets. Experienced staff was excellent, some trainees were off putting. Paid extra for a view and all I got was the Dunkin Donuts across the street and an alley full of dumpsters.

Review 127:Location was excellent with a lot of the tourist destinations within walking (half mile) distance and great access to CTA routes right around the block.

Review 128:My husband and I rolled into the center of the bed. Very small old room and closet size bathroom.

Review 129:Walking distance to most areas of interest or a quick cab ride

Review 130:Parking is expensive - $45US/night.

Review 131:Great location. Right on Magnificent Mile, 3 min from red line to theCubs and Sox. Comfortable beds. A nice choice

Review 132:The pictures were not what the hotel presented as. It was dirty, the beds weren't comfortable. There was mold in the shower, the carpets were almost torn up as if the hotel had flooded and the carpets never replaced. This is not what was depicted in photos of the hotel.

Review 133:It was a place to sleep

Review 134:House keeping knocking on the door at 8:15 am and then the next day walking in on us without a knock at 9 am. She did not even slowly open the door she had it completely opened up and my bf shouted for her to shut it. And they said they were sorry and gave us a measly "$10 voucher at the cafe attached next door"

Review 135:I didn't use much of what was available. I basically went sightseeing g and eating all day and only used the hotel to sleep in. It is a great value

Review 136:Getting around was easy
