Reviews for The Abbey Resort

Review 1:Spa pool was awesone. 240 restaurant meal was very good. Had sea bass and fillet. Ordered salmon but they were out. Our room did not get serviced on our first day. The new year eve party was fun.

Review 2:The hotel had a problem with no hot water on 2 days of my stay. But offered to change rooms to another building and did offer a modest comp for the inconvenience. It was the only negative of the stay.

Review 3:Great location on Lake Geneva, quiet and away from the crowds of the village of Lake Geneva, Friendly helpful staff, very comfortable property with excellent amenities

Review 4:Unique Style of Building with Post & Beam construction! Absolutely Gorgeous Location on Lake Geneva with marina & landscaping & flower beds!

Review 5:Our first anniversary and the staff greeted had a complimentary bottle of champagne and hand-written note in our room when we arrived. Fantastic accommodations and beautiful place! Will definitely be back.

Review 6:The room smelled a little funny when we turned on the heater, but other than that was a nice room. Staff was great but it's a huge resort and very confusing layout.

Review 7:Great amenities and bar and restaurant. Was there for a wedding and lots going on in the resort both nights including live music which was great.

Review 8:Had to send meals back to the kitchen on 3 different occasions/trips into 240 West. Each instance was dealt with properly and quickly. Food was good once they got it right.

Review 9:The location is beautiful. On the waters edge with lush grounds. The staff was wonderful. Room was clean and comfortable. They had 3 wedding, a class reunion and a conference going on all on the same night. You would never had known they were so busy. Never waited for a table in the restaurants or bar. No area of the resort was crowded. The spa was really nice. Very relaxing.

Review 10:I had some difficulty getting into the king size pillow top bed. At 5' tall it was up past my waist.

Review 11:The grounds were beautiful, and well maintained. We had a couples massage in the Spa and enjoyed the amenities.

Review 12:The steam room in the women's spa had mold in it, and the showers in the spa were dirty. There are very limited vegetarian options.

Review 13:The bed was comfortable.

Review 14:I didn't realize that the city of Lake Geneva was at the opposite end of the lake. Although we didn't mind, for those who want to shop and explore the towns, it took about 20 minutes to drive somewhere.

Review 15:We loved the pools and the spa services offered. The grounds were beautiful! There was easy access to the walking trail around Geneva Lake. Rooms were very nice with comfy beds.

Review 16:Food and wait staff in restaurant were horrible. Carpet in hallways in need of cleaning.

Review 17:Concierge and front desk very helpful. SPA was excellent. Location was superb.

Review 18:My husband and I were celebrating my birthday. My daughter ordered a bottle of wine to be sent to our room which we never received. Her credit card was charged but no wine...disappointing service. We didn't know until we got home.

Review 19:Pool towels could be nicer and pool area could use update. Saw several people with dogs..didn't think they were allowed? Doubt that all 3 I saw were "service dogs"

Review 20:we like the location. Rooms are nice> Newly decorated hallways vey nice

Review 21:TERRIBLE water pressure in the shower and terrible service at breakfast, couldn't get a glass of water for 15 minutes at least both days.

Review 22:I loved the setting of the resort and great atmosphere. We were able to walk around and take in being on the water. The rooms was nice and comfy. Glad we got a balcony with a garden view.

Review 23:The patio needed to be swept. It was August and there should be no leaves and cob webs. We didn't sit outside on our balcony of room as a result

Review 24:Dinner at 240 was excellent. It was fun to make s'mores out at fire pit

Review 25:The women's steam room was not working so that was disappointing.

Review 26:We enjoyed the spa services and pool. The grounds were just lovely and the staff friendly.

Review 27:The food establishment was awful. While the lobby area was nice, the actual guest rooms were terribly rundown, outdated and dirty.

Review 28:Nice lakefront view.

Review 29:check in time was at 4pm and we arrived 15 minutes early but our room wasn't ready. They did call us shortly after to let us know our room was ready. Check out time was 11am and we had cleaning staff knocking on our door at 10:30am so we felt a bit rushed

Review 30:clean room, very comfy bed, nice staff

Review 31:There was a little bit of a plumbing issue which made the hallway smell and no flushing toilet in the room but it was only for one day.

Review 32:The experience was wonderful I enjoyed the location and convenient walk to the beach. I am most definitely coming back.

Review 33:WiFi dropped several times while in the room. Wish the room had a mini-fridge.

Review 34:Enjoyed the lovely location, the resort is clean and the room was very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay at The Abby again!

Review 35:It was so big and things were hard to find at first, but as the days went on I adjusted and became familiar with the hotel's layout.

Review 36:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Whether I was lost in the hallways or needed fresh towels, they were very accommodating. We loved the adults-only pool.

Review 37:The twin beds in the villa weren't very comfortable--seemed like the mattresses had seen better days. Couldn't get any TV stations to get news--only CMT (?). The hallway outside our condo smelled strongly like mold and/or mildew. Had an accidental injury on the property outside--walking up to a door to see if it was unlocked to get into the pool building, I narrowly missed stepping in a large amount of vomit on the sidewalk, twisting my ankle in the process. That would have been between 9 and 9:30 am Friday, 7/18. It would have been nice if it had been cleaned up--probably happened the night before . . .

Review 38:Beautiful location; accommodating and friendly staff--gave us a feel of the resort experience even though we were just staying the night, such as making dinner reservations for us, allowing us to fully enjoy the breakfast buffet even though we arrived about ten minutes before they were to close, and shuttling us to and from the parking lot. We had booked a two-queen room, but were "upgraded" to a villa for some reason. The full kitchen and island bar was beautiful, although we didn't need it for one night. Being able to sit on the back deck and conveniently take a walk around the marina was very nice.

Review 39:Two lamps didn't work and the refrigerator didn't work. Housecleaning never got it correctly how many people were in the room to send the correct number of towels.

Review 40:When we told them we needed things they would give us more towels, wash clothes and etc. quickly and were friendly about it.

Review 41:Thin walls, was awakened several times by the TV in the next room. Shower weak, difficult to rinse my hair.

Review 42:Clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Well kept grounds, nice towels and linens. Loved the coffee shop

Review 43:Wish I could have stay more than a couple of days. It rained pretty much the first day.

Review 44:Everyone you come in contact with politely says "hello", with a smile. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were cleaned. Enjoyed the Waterfront Restaurant, the food was very good.

Review 45:Rom was as far away from lake as could be imagined. My wife is in a wheel chair and facilities are difficult with a myriad of elevators needed to navigate from room to dining room. The meal in the 240 room was terrible. We spent over $100 for truly a forgettable meal. My wife had a filet mignon which was the worst steak she had ever been served.

Review 46:Location can't be beat

Review 47:Reservation through booking.com was not correct, even though I had called and notified them prior to arrival. They were not very flexible.

Review 48:Several activities available, clean and comfortable.

Review 49:Drive to other end of the lake was a bit "involved" in the rain---not being familiar with the roads.

Review 50:Good food. High king bed was comfortable.

Review 51:The food at the "nice" restaurant 240 West was not veryimpressive, especially for the price. We had the prime rib buffet andtho the roast was nice the rest of the buffet meat (pork and chicken)were very dry. Also the alcohol was very expensive! There was a coy pond by the Avani spa that was out of order and it was very nasty and smelly! The only thing I can say negative about the room (because it was very nice) was that the fridge was too cold and froze our food/drinks and I would suggest putting a towel/grab bar inside the shower...there was no where to put a wash cloth or hold onto if you needed to.

Review 52:The room and hotel itself was very nice, no complaints on ambiance.Staff was helpful and friendly for the most part. Location was niceand convenient, also quieter than expected. The pools were great, lovethat there's a separate kids pool, will definitely be back withthe kiddos!

Review 53:My reservation was lost. It took forever to check in and i was not given the same deal as the rest of the party guests. I was disappointed.

Review 54:The room was nice

Review 55:There was a shortage of eating places, but we were there early in the season and it took a while to learn our way around.

Review 56:The resort was very nice and the staff were great to us.

Review 57:Annoying that you had to log into the Wifi with your e-mail address each time you turned on your phone or tablet. .

Review 58:We were at the Abbey on a bad weather weekend, so perhaps our impressions were shaped by the constant rain. The property is very spread out and you may do a lot of walking to get to food, etc. As an older couple we were not intending to use any of the recreation facilities, so it felt like we paid a lot for resources not used or desired. Room was very clean, the bed very high and soft.

Review 59:The bed (King) was not very compfortable and way too high, a short person would not make it into the bed! They need to replace the matrasses, my husband and I would meet in the middle because the bed sank in the middle, get new ones and lower the beds!!

Review 60:We loved all the renovations and the rooms were so bright and loved the balcony overlooking the Courtyard. Everyone said "Hello" and was friendly. Close to Lake Geneva and shopping and Restaurants

Review 61:The front desk person at the day of check in. She was in a hurry and didn't allow us to finish our questions before answering it. She did it in person and over the phone.

Review 62:The cleanliness of the room and how beautiful the rooms are. It's very family friendly. Our kids had fun in the pool and arcade.

Review 63:The Lobby --Beautiful but the doors open up from the outside--you could not relax there because it was a cold cavern of wind.

Review 64:The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, there was not enough that they would do for you...Food of excellent quality and priced reasonably.

Review 65:The place is a maze----difficult to find your way around. This is a massive place seemed like 500 0r more units which adds up to a lot of people, so if you don't like crowds or want a nice little quiet place this is not the place to go.

Review 66:clean and well kept---fairly quiet for the size of the place----good location

Review 67:The beds and the pillows were too soft, the TV reception was poor and limited.

Review 68:The luxury of being at the hotel and not having to leave the property for dinner since they have several restaurants on the property

Review 69:Hard water gives one the feeling that you never remove the soap fromyour skin. Hard to adjust the A/C temp in room 1249 Room had a musty smell.

Review 70:reputation, location (proximity to Chicago), ambience, well run operation. Beautiful surrondings.

Review 71:Poor choice of restaurants overpriced rooms..add to your room charge: Sales tax 14.80 occupancy tax 13.45 resort pass 12.00 ???? another sales tax .66 remote location

Review 72:We did not like the boats on the hotel side of the harbor. Nothing like the smell of engine smoke!

Review 73:The layout of the hotel was great and we stayed in one of the rooms overlooking the pool. It was definitely better than having to look at a few hundred boats in the harbor!

Review 74:The room I stayed in had stains and dirt on the pillows and bedspread.

Review 75:It was a quaint hotel.

Review 76:I liked the comfort and the professionalism and the amenities and the value!

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:Beautiful Environment

Review 79:The room was not ready at check in. And they did not give us a time it would be ready. B

Review 80:It was our honeymoon

Review 81:The hot tub closed earlier than advertised which cramped our style.

Review 82:Very comfortable bed, good location for local area.

Review 83:Housekeeping knocked on door at 9:30 am and made us feel rushed and worried that check out was at 9.

Review 84:Spa and restaurants

Review 85:The surrounding grounds, bars and restaurants within the Abbey and location to lake/harbort

Review 86:Keys stopped working.got charged a meal we didn't have but staffremoved it.

Review 87:Cute

Review 88:We got a handicap room...don't know why. Shower was horrible. Pool was not open.

Review 89:Spa was great!

Review 90:The location is great.assessible for walking. The restaurants were very good. We enjoyed the waitstaff in the bar..

Review 91:The dining experience is not the greatest. A lot of money for the Lobster Fest without quality.

Review 92:Beautiful location. Friendly staff. So fun!

Review 93:Long walk to room, bed to high

Review 94:Clean, quiet, nice balcony, warm pool

Review 109:The comfort, the "resort" ambiance, the quality of amenities in room (towels, robe, shower, soaps, glasses, TV, bed, linens.

Review 110:dinning room is uninviting. Needs updating
