Reviews for Holland Inn & Suites
Review 1:(owners)?...front desk couple looked rumpled like they just rolled out of bed. Suspicious of booking reservation and cost of same. Very slow getting us registered. Dripping bathtub faucet, and wall heater didn't work. They had a little electric portable heater but it was too noisey. So the place is kind of dumpy. We are used to fancier digs...won't stay there again that's for sure.
Review 2:Location, just down the hill from a relative's home...also next door to Spencer's market where we shop for groceries,
Review 3:It was great for the purpose; nothing negative to say.
Review 4:My house under on-going repair, so my 3 yo Grandson & I went for Fri-Sat mini-stay & owner & family sweet & accomodating. Playground & ocean across Hwy 1. Great value for price!
Review 5:More compact rooms than expected (1 bed in each room in our case). Front office doubles as breakfast space, no seating, crammed.
Review 6:Beach visible from property (not room), nicer location than a few more expensive options.
Review 7:Continental breakfastcouldhave has a littlemore variety
Review 8:The room was just what we wanted. Continentalbreakfast was lacking...but other than that our Christmas Eve was fantastic!
Review 9:The carpet smelled like mold and the room smelled like fresh paint.
Review 10:It was quiet and very friendly. The community was very quiet and the market was behind us in walking distance.
Review 11:I didn't like that the smokers were right outside, so the smoke came in our room
Review 12:I love that they were about to put me next to my sister's room. Friendly
Review 13:Room cleanliness, vacuum never used or carpet shampoo. Phone from another hotel with numbers that don't match. Bathroom 40 inches wide by 10 feet. Fun to sa the least.
Review 14:The quaint old time motel from the early 50's.
Review 15:I paid $62 for what looked like was the maid store room remodeled. Very small. Small window by the door that opened outwards. There were a couple of guys outside at about 1am laughing and being loud.
Review 16:They were available in the office when we arrived at 11pm which was nice and also was nice I could see the ocean from the parking lot.
Review 17:The water was yellow, they charged an extra $24 for my two cats that I wasn't expecting, the bed was very uncomfortable, and there was no AC, just a floor fan.
Review 18:Morro Bay
Review 19:The lights were sensored, so popped on full blazes in the middle of the night when triggered! Parking lot noise, (talking, loading, unloading), was pretty loud.
Review 20:The room was clean, the linens smelled a little of bleach, which means towels and sheets were clean! The staff is personal and super willing to be helpful if needed.
Review 21:our room was tiny like a cell no carpet or air conditioning or wardrobe no fridge or microwave which we had booked - we got a different room to our sons but paid for the same type of room, we didn't complain as we were so tired and got there so late, nowhere to sit for breakfast only on a bench outside someone else's room as we didn't have a bench outside our room
Review 22:location easy to find comfortable bed shower
Review 23:No AC, had to keep the window open to get some fresh air. Due to the open window and hotel guests loudly packing their cars starting at 6 am it was not possible to sleep in the morning. When we closed the window it was no fresh air. Very bad sleep. Also 2 small cockroaches were running right over the microwave. Breakfast is not eatable. Overall it not a bad motel, but it's a motel and in my strong opinion it should cost a lot less.
Review 24:Good location, the staff allowed late check out.
Review 25:This isn't really the motel's fault, but I expected it to be closer to central Morro Bay. We were right on the freeway. The parking was cramped. There were large lumps under the carpet.
Review 26:The manager was very kind and helpful!
Review 27:1. The room that I got for almost $170 on a long weekend was missing shower head. After we complained, the owner/receptionist/facility-worker (all in one) showed up at 10:30 pm to install a shower head. 2. The family that is running this establishment seems new to the business. For better or worth we were dealing with a family ( grandma, mom, daughter, dad), and not a group of professionals. 3. Water pressure was pretty low which made showering hard.
Review 28:1. The location. We could see the ocean from our room. Beach was a 5 minutes drive. 2. The place seemed to be remodeled recently. It was pretty clean for a low end model.
Review 29:it was very deceiving . The room very small, especially the bathroom. Prices too high for that kind of room and service.. You couldn't close the bathroom door and no air conditioning, ceiling fan only. We were very uncomfortable.. Bed ok, but too hot to sleep in there.
Review 30:leaving
Review 31:Very tired room, worn soft furnishings. Odd smell to room. AC not working. Nowhere to sit and eat breakfast - we sat on the doorstep... Would not want to stay more than a night.
Review 32:Easy to reach from the freeway. Comfy bed, slept very well. Friendly staff.
Review 33:They tell you you get the room with a continental breakfast but what you find in the morning is unaccettable. Wifi does not work smoothly. The motel is only a few meters from Hw 1 and it is very noisy. The rooms are small. On the whole you pay more than you get. At the same price in the same area we have found much better options.
Review 34:The shower was barely a trickle of water. There were noisy people in the suite next to us. It felt like they were banging on the wall. Even though I asked for a nonsmoking room the neighbors in the suite next to us were smoking right at my open window.
Review 35:I liked the Location and the office staff. He was very nice and helpful. Great customer service.
Review 36:Room was small, but we didn't spend a lot of time there since we were close to the beach. I think they need to upgrade the 1960's microwaves, paint and put new bed spreads out, then the room would be more inviting.
Review 37:Location was money.... 1 mile from Morro Rock, walking distance from food and a dive bar, close to the freeway and there was always parking.
Review 38:The floors could have been vacuumed better, and a cealling fan would be better than The floor fan provided.
Review 39:Friendly staff, and the facilities were in reasonably good shape.
Review 40:Bed was hard. No air conditioning. Shower head at level for someone around 5 feet tall...
Review 41:Location. Close to most everywhere except the beach. But even that is a short 5 minute drive.
Review 42:One of the staff came into our room, without knocking, just after 8 am, and the wifi was terrible. The breakfast was why I chose this place and it was not that great. Fresh food, boiled eggs, yogurt, would have been nice.
Review 43:The bed was comfortable; the shower was nice and had great water pressure. The staff in the office were nice.
Review 44:Everything
Review 45:Terrible facilities, no bath room furnishing, terrible breakfast, terrible room appliance, even no closet, no glass for tooth brushing, no water container, never recommend any friend go there. Once is enough.
Review 46:Our room was small for 2 Queen beds and the large bathroom configuration was funky. It included the microfridge & closet in the room with the shower.
Review 47:They had a 2Q room available for a Sat. night in June when we looked just 1 day ahead. The owners and staff are friendly. The room was clean and beds were comfortable.
Review 48:The furniture was stained and paint chipped. The toilet gurgled all night and when we went to take a shower in the morning there was standing water/sewage. The clerk was not friendly at check-in and there was a family member sitting on the lobby couch eating cereal.
Review 49:Nothing
Review 50:Could be a bit cleaner and room is small, especially bathroom. A DVR player would be nice. But overall a good place. We've stayed there twice and will stay there again.
Review 51:Great location at great price.
Review 52:No water in bathroom and had to insist on attention to this as an important necessity. Plumber finally came and said water is turned off for work. I was glad I noticed it right away rather than later when I was ready for a shower.
Review 53:Being old, the shower and hot water system has all the charm of a European hotel. We were also hoping for a real breakfast but not the case here.
Review 54:While not downtown the price for this place is very reasonable. The staff is very nice.
Review 55:We never had a bad experience at Holland.
Review 56:The staff. Andy, Roy, Rita, and the rest of the staff are superb. They advertised a queen bed, but gave us a king. We've known them for several years, and have always had great service..
Review 57:He thing I didn't like the most was the room was kinda dirty when I got my room it looked pretty clean hit when I turned the corner their wa a smashed bug on the side of the wall and I didn't clean cause I thought they would so when we left the next day to the beach and came back out bed was made but the squished bug was still there and they don't really clean the room great they just changed the bedding and give you new towels and soap not really clean behind the beds or anything or vacuum.
Review 58:what I liked a most was the staff was nice and you can see the beach from where your at and the hotel was at a great price for a college student like me I don't really have money to spend on a expencive hotel and neither does my boyfriend. But the rooms where good a little small but great for just me and my boyfriend.
Review 59:Residents on both sides live at the hotel and were noisy. No coffee pot or a bath mat. Website said rooms had bathtub/shower combos but was told by staff that there was only one room with this and there would be an additional charge. Very small, dark shower stall. Water bairly trickled out. TV remote didn't work, had to go to the office to learn how to operate TV. Very small room. I didn't want to spend any extra time in the room. Very old hotel with dated fixtures that didn't work well. Dark and dingy furniture. I was glad I brought my reservation print-out, my friend didn't and they kept tacking on additional charges. Won't stay there again. I'm not too picky but like a little bit better accommodations.
Review 60:Location
Review 61:Our non smoking room had a bench outside where people sat and smoked. A car parked right in front of our door(not a parking space). Old fashioned tv with a remote that only partially worked. Very tight parking. Just not able to say anything good Our stay.
Review 62:Breakfast coffee was cold and since we are diabetic, we could not eat what they served. However, we zapped coffee in microwave and I had brought food, so we had a nice breakfast in our room.
Review 63:We were looking for an inexpensive motel. For only $40, we got a clean, quiet room with fridge and microwave. Staff was very friendly also. Great value.
Review 64:We liked the price and location, and it was also quiet and fairly clean. Our room included a fridge/freezer & a microwave. The room was small and the bathroom was tiny, but all in all a good place which we will use again if our trailer is unavailable to us due to repairs.
Review 65:My room was convenient for wheel chair. Quiet for rest times mid day. Easy access to ocean view but away from wind and surf noise. Friendly helpful staff.
Review 66:Heater would take up to an hour to restart. Our room was right next to a very LOUD roll-up door to a storage room used till 10 PM at night. AC outlets were worn to the point that they couldn't even hold any phone charger from falling out. TV stopped working during the night.
Review 67:Staff at least acted like they wanted to be helpful.
Review 68:Needed more than a 24 hour WI-fi..
Review 69:Room was cleaned each day--very accommodating- -Location- I took pictures of Morro Rock at sunset each day Awesome..
Review 70:all the electrical plugs would keep an item plugged in they would fall out. The bed was terrible the pillows were lumps. The rooms have free standing gas heaters and smelled. the place is probably 50 years old and never upgraded other than the tv. I will never stay here again
Review 71:Parking lot small. Continental breakfast was a little limited. Need more variety.
Review 72:Jacuzzi tub and quiet. Wi fi was good to have. Personnel was pleasant. Room was cozy with the fireplace. Will definitely stay again. Store next door was good.
Review 73:Heater did not work, even after supposedly fixed. No hot water in room. Booking.com quoted $89 plus tax but hotel wanted to charge additional for pets though stated in .com reservation form.
Review 74:Mgr screwed up reservation Mgr and staff barely spoke English room was clean but paint chips all over as well as dents in wall, bathroom door look not secure, no light in shower stall, towel rack fell off of wall as soon as I touched it, mirror cracked, TV remote did not work well even after I myself changed out the batteries, Wi-Fi only worked for one day, step leading into room was far too high and I suspect not to code, heater did not work, (was given a small space heater), hot water took longer than acceptable to come to temperature, ice machine INSIDE lobby - ergo no ice after 11:00 pm, was refused Orange juice in lobby at 10:05 a.m. when the machine was on and the staff standing right there
Review 75:The beds were passable
Review 76:My vacation was too short. Would recommend this place highly. Three great Mexican restaurants and one great Chinese on the same road within 3 or 4 blocks. Bono petit
Review 77:nice looking non smoking room
Review 78:Patrons in room next to us were very noisy. You could hear the jets from their spa bathtub in our room. Room was smaller than what the pictures showed.
Review 79:Staff very nice and asked the patrons in room next to us to quiet down.
Review 80:My decision to stay there was very last minute. Nonetheless, the transaction was quick and easy. The hotel was accommodating and the transaction smooth and quick.
Review 81:Rooms are alittle small and breakfast offered was alittle weak.
Review 82:Great location with the beach right across the street. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I would stay there again for that reason alone. Easy access to the highway. Love the fact that they had a microwave and fridge in the room.
Review 83:Very noisy location right next to hiway 1. Breakfast is two kinds of cereal and weak coffee. Had to drive down to waterfront some distance. Too far to walk.
Review 84:Clean. Bed comfortable. Nicely dark for sleeping with drapes drawn. Walk to large store and a few restaurants. Appreciated the portable fan due to very warm temperatures. Older motel run by family.
Review 85:The concrete floor in the room under the carpet was very uneven and bumpy. The whole motel needs remodeling, painting, new carpet, etc. It is old and not appealing.
Review 86:The fridge was good sized and the beds were fairly comfortable.
Review 87:Some basic stuff just didn't work very well. They seemed to have a real problem getting a door key that worked. And they spent an inordinate amount of time trying to get the TV to operate. They eventually succeeded, but the amount of effort detracted from the experience.
Review 88:The tub with water jets was good, and the built-in fireplace was nice.
Review 89:The staff wasn't friendly, the room was dingy, all the furniture was beat up. This hotel is owned by a family. I stayed at a couple of their hotels when I moved to the area and was looking for an apartment and wasn't impressed. Its been a few years and I was having my place fumigated, thought I'd give them a try because they were the cheapest, but that was a mistake. The staff is unfriendly, the guy at the front desk was pushy. I watched him walk all over a very calm and considerate woman who was simply trying to check her and her husband in, which was completely uncalled for. I wasn't treated any better. In addition to the bad service the guy tried to cheat me on my reservation. I mentioned that I was looking for a room for the whole weekend but had only booked the night hoping to look for a better rate. He suggested that be had a room he could give me at a discounted rate, but only for Saturday and Sunday (I was checking in Friday) as Fridays rate was already locked in. I asked if I would be switching rooms between Friday and Saturday and he said it would be the same room. He let me look at the room and it was barely big enough to fit the bed. When I came back and said no he checked me into a different room which was much larger. The reservations made through booking.com are for specific rooms. The rate I paid was for the room I ended up getting, but the man working here wanted to cheat me out of what I had paid and put me in a smaller room for the entire weekend SK he could charge a higher rate for the room I was supposed to get in Friday. I'm sure this is against booking.com's policy, and was extremely dishonest. The room was poor, and the owners are both difficult to deal with and dishonest. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $10 to stay elsewhere.
Review 90:Nothing to recommend.
Review 91:I did NOT like that our suite was next door to office and having guests in and out of office right at our window. Room much smaller than picture on ad. It was a very hot day and temperature of room very uncomfortable with no a/c and only one small fan that did not work well.
Review 92:It was a convenient location and had a view of ocean.
Review 93:The bed was average. The motel is adjacent to the main road and was noisy. Very basic room. The free internet was abysmal. It kept cutting out and you could only connect 1 device. Not 1 at a time just 1 device. No hot water. At least you wake up after a cold one.And on top of that the bathroom door jammed shut and took me a couple of minutes to get out. When I went to complain at reception, the Indian lady just gave me a blank stare and yelled something in Indian to someone out of sight.I waited for about 1 minute and no one else came out so I left.
Review 94:They had a bed. Actually the best thing going for this place was the bath towel. Not much else was that I could say was good.
Review 95:The room smelled like wet dog. The Television, coffeemaker, mini-fridge, and microwave were in a closet. The reception of the cable service for the TV was spotty. The toilet was constantly running.
Review 96:Location of place which is next to a taco restaurant and market. Staff were nice and fast. Allowed extra time of checking out.
Review 97:a bunch of MC riders who were drunk stayed their, I had to call the front desk at midnight to tell them to quiet down.
Review 98:the room were clean and comfortable.
Review 99:took a call to office to figure out TV operation. Really had a pleasant stay
Review 100:The rooms where comfortable and clean, one level no one walking around upstairs, close to store, Parking was adequate, staff very nice and helpful. We have already recommended this hotel to friends
Review 101:Room was so small that you could touch bed and wall simultaneously on all four sides. Simple door lock, no dead bolt or chain! Owner or mgr lives on premises - right below room. Finally got quiet at 11:00. "Breakfast" was small prepackaged muffins/pastries and choice of Raisin Bran or Frosted Flakes. One resident came in and took about eight of the pastries, which left only three or four left for the entire rest of the hotel - they were not restocked while we were there. Ice machine was turned off, with only bits and pieces in bottom. Had to call several times to get someone to come to desk so I could check out. Person who came did not appear to speak English.
Review 102:Place was clean and location was perfect. They allowed us to check out 30 minutes after regular time.
Review 103:The "breakfast" was very basic, and the coffee was waaaay too thin - I had to dump it, that's how terrible it tasted.
Review 104:Friendly staff, good recommendations for dinner, clean room.
Review 105:Bathroom door stuck shut and had to be pushed open from outside. Low water flow in shower. Ice machine in office.
Review 106:One unit with 2 separate rooms, next to a market.
Review 107:For the amount of money spent, I will not be going back. Even though I had a reservation, my room was given to someone else. The staff was surprised when my family arrived. Not good.
Review 108:First, unable to understand the people behind the counter due to language barrier, apparently East Indian. Second, the room was dirty and smelled bad. We paid for a jacuzzi and fireplace but when we entered the room, there was a hand written sign taped to the bathroon wall indicating the jacuzzi was not working and not to fill the tub. When I asked the proprietor about this, they indicated that the sign was there to have those discouraged from using this feature and not paying extra and that the tub and jacuzzi did in fact work. No air conditioning and front and only window did not open. Curtains on this window would not slide open for any outside view, which is indicated on the description of the Inn, as "ocean views." Had to leave shoes on in room and toilet area, due to dirty carpet and tile. Our room was next to the office/mgr. quarters and apparently, they the mgrs, burned incense all day and night. Price, I feel was too high for out of town location and no apparent ocean view, which was advertised. Never again!
Review 109:Easy access from the highway.
Review 110:Not really near the water. In a very commercial area Parking was a pain... crowded and the spaces are small
Review 111:My roommate and I went to look at Real Estate in Cambria. We were pleasantly surprised to find our room was 2 rooms, with an adjoining door for only a small amount more than 1 room with 2 beds. Nice place, easy to find, clean and nice.
Review 112:no air conditioning a staff that could not cancel the third not in there own motel instead of calling booking to do it
Review 113:air conditioning a staff that is helpful and friendly a tv that works correctly
Review 114:This was my third stay at this location and this time around there were quite a number of contractors with their crews staying there. Noisy
Review 115:Price, amenities
Review 116:At first glance, the appearance of the motel was a bit discouraging, because it is older and located next to the loud highway, some distance from the town, requiring a drive. But the interior of the room was correct in every detail, with everything functioning. And the drive is not a bother. A good find, and I'd stay again.
Review 117:When I saw the explanation on booking.com, it mentioned that the motel will charge $10 more for an extra bed, but when we went to Halland Inn, they mentioned it was $15, he showed me their website information, which I did not see in my booking website. The room does not have air conditioner, which may be very hot for the summer.
Review 118:Shower small 1st night very rowdy people. Once I finally got a hold of staff. They took care of. Was just a fluke thing. Other nights were great .
Review 119:Friendly staff Clean room.
Review 120:Overwhelming smell of incense in office; furniture very worn - some damaged; breakfast was sugary, boxed cereal; price too high for such basic accommodations.
Review 121:Room & bath were clean
Review 122:Place is a ratty old school Motel where things like tv don't work. No water pressure , a dump dive!! Should be 30.00 per night max!!! Take them off your list!!! Won't use you guys again if host rat dive motels!!!
Review 123:Tiny cramped room. Very old. Way to expensive in my opinion. Woke up to people every where in parking lot, kids by our door. Car alarms going off. Just not my kind of place.
Review 124:Staff were very nice.
Review 125:Limited amenities and breakfast had no fruit. Location was so so. Lots of firemen and workers up early in the am.
Review 126:Clean, nice staff, loved the frosted flakes.
Review 127:Very small bathroom. A larger person (I am 175 lbs) would have to get into the bathtub in order to close or open the bathroom door. Their AC was an oscillating fan. Their "continental breakfast" was a few things on a shelf in the very small lobby. Motel 6 puts this place to shame!
Review 128:The room was small, and the bathroom very small. It was a warm night, and there is no air conditioning. However, a standing fan was provided. It is located right off Hwy 1, which makes it a quite a bit more noisy.
Review 129:It was clean and had the bare neces sities. The facilities were full, but it was a quiet, peaceful night.
Review 130:The shower is very small. If you are significantly overweight or over 6' 2", consider elsewhere. I am 5' 10" and weigh 190, and I could barely fit in the shower. The shower head was at my chin level. The bed was not particularly comfortable. There is no air conditioning. A fan is provided, but it is no match for how humid it was and somewhat warm. We had to sleep with the windows open, and it gets pretty noisy fairly early in the am.
Review 131:A great location in Morro Bay. Take a short drive north on the frontage road you are on and turn left on San Jacinto and cross the Coast Highway. There is a very nice beach there. There were thousands of intact sand dollars on the beach. Right next door to the hotel is a very nice market. If you need a sandwich, they have them made to your order at a very good price. The Holland Inn was comparable in price to others in the area of this level of quality. It is an average motel at best, but, comparing it to others, we were happy with what we got.
Review 132:Nothing, It was like a little country motel with friendly outreach.
Review 133:We need to get away and took a reservation that was seasonally a little high. The owners were kind and made an outreach. The breakfast was nice. Central spot to go up or down coast, I told he couple we would return.
Review 134:room did not have air conditioning, had a fan in the bathroom. fire/smoke detector went off whenever someone took a shower. desk clerk said to aim fan at it, or to wave a towel.
Review 135:cleanliness and location.
Review 136:it was suppose to be a handicap room, got there, they said there wasn't any , wife had to step up high into the room with bad knees, which was very dangerous and painful, huge laundry cart was was left close to rooms overnight full of dirty smelly laundry , no handicap bar in bathroom.
