Reviews for San Francisco Inn

Review 1:The hotel is in a poor location. It appears to be close to the center but a few blocks to the south of the city beyond the 5th street are where you should avoid as I was told later. I booked 8 nights to save a few quids for the company knowing that I will be able to check out anytime earlier as there is no term and condition specifying that I can't. I will have to pay the first night if I don't appear or cancel my booking beforehand. This is all communicated to me during and after my booking. I checked in and was happy with the room - a bit dark and humid but bearable and had what I need. I was waken up at around 2am by noises inside the inn. I would rather not to specify what types of noise, but my wall or ceiling was kept on being banged by wood frames or things similar. The noises went on till 5am/6am and I was not able to sleep. I hoped to do some work as I was on business trip. This ruined my second day. I feel rather unsafe to live with the type of guests the inn attracted. The first thing I did after the breakfast (decent continental breakfast) was to request to check out but the lady in the front told me I must pay for three nights and I needed to give them 48 hours notice if I checked in and wanted to check out! I knew there was no such a clause anywhere in the terms and conditions (both from the hotel and booking.com), so I requested to see where it says this and the lady was not able to produce the document which doesn't exist. After some negotiation, the lady said the owner agreed to charge for 2 nights which I were still not happy with and I told them clearly that I was going to dispute this via booking.com. I checked out and they charged 2 nights anyway and I found myself a nice hotel near Fishman's Wharf which costed a 200 dollars more but totally worth it! I am still in dispute with the Inn.

Review 2:Relatively clean

Review 3:People running the place are nice and polite and the free breakfast was nicer than most- cereal, yogurt, different juices, packet oats, pastries etc on a tray to take back to your room any time before checkout.

Review 4:Probably just that it doesn't have an elevator and you have to take your baggages upstairs.

Review 5:We were highly surprised with the rooom.it was great for a cheap hotel. The room is comfortable and clean, has everything you can need, a desk, place to hang your clothes, a small fridge, microwave, coffee maker, hair drier, iron...everything was super clean, we felt very comfortable. The area is nice, probably too many homeless people in the street but that's how SF is aND we never felt insecure even when walking in the night. Is in walking distance from many interesting areas as civic center, we even walked to the harbour from there. The staff was super nice specially the morning front desk man who was super helpful and kind to us. I'm sure in this range of prices is the best place to stay.

Review 6:Bed and bedding were horrible. We froze because of the lack of blankets. Tub was a jet tub, but so gross we passed on it all together. Walls are thin, because we heard our neighbors fighting throughout the night.

Review 7:The location is good is you plan on going to the local bars in SOMA.

Review 8:had to fight for parking. Handicapp was in use by non-HP. Rooms were upstairs, attendant did not offer to help even though he saw I was struggling to get up the stairs. Tub was too small-no relaxing in tub. heater blew directly to surface of bed. Uck.

Review 9:room OK

Review 10:I didn't like that there were no elevators. The beds were hard if you prefer hard beds. The breakfast was not worth the price (included in price of room).

Review 11:I enjoyed that I didn't have to pay much for the rooms.

Review 12:The manager made my guests leave the property because he stated "No visitors after 7:00 pm" This is a hotel, not an SRO. He was disrespectful to both me and my guests.

Review 13:smelly air conditioner no sit down area for cold sugary breakfasts pigeons in central area time to update cathode ray TVs one outlet did not work

Review 14:secure free parking

Review 15:The filter of AC was probably never changed and when we switched it on there was a bad smell in the room. The quarter of the hotel (SOMA) is kinda good for moving in San Francisco since is not too far from MUNI stops, but definitely not one of the best area of SF, especially at night.

Review 16:Staff in general was really kind and quick to answer to all our needs

Review 17:Although several days after I left, the Hotel agreed on assuming responsibility over a damage caused by the parking gate to my rental car, I had to put too much energy to have them assume the responsibility. It was very obvious to me since the parking gate closed on my car when in the way and I called them to witness the incident. This happened the first day of my stay, and they could not watch the video until after I left. They said the gate sensor has been fixed.

Review 18:Easy access from the street. Clean.

Review 19:Requested extra pillows...didn't happen. TV reception is less than stellar.

Review 20:Great location for my purposes. Friendly staff. Fridge and microwave in the room was fantastic. Breakfast is very basic but a great perk and got the day off well. Great value for the money. Free internet was wonderful. Will stay there again.

Review 21:It's a little far from places (except maybe Mission) - but if you drive or bike, that's not a problem (they have a parking area BTW).

Review 22:It's quite alright - it's inexpensive (by SF terms, at least), rooms are clean and nice and staff is friendly. There's even a (very basic) breakfast included.

Review 23:Parking was a tight squeeze. Heavy door from exit stairs to parking area. I fell trying to hold door open and watch the last step.

Review 24:Friendly staff. Security door to the upstairs rooms.

Review 25:San Francisco is extremely poor in many areas. Don't walk if you get scared easily. Accommodation is run down and facilities are old. Room a little small.

Review 26:Cleaned daily and well. Area is acceptable in comparison to many other places in San Francisco as the whole city is totally filled up with many many homeless. Connection to public transport is ok and city center is in walkable distance. Good value for money.

Review 27:Every time we left the hotel on the car and came back there were no free parking slots on the hotel parking. A couple of times we even got from the girl on the reception - "I don't know what to do with your car" which is not a service you may expect. So one time I had to pay extra money for parking on the street that is not cheep in SF. Next time i had to wake up at 9am to move my car to a different place. I were disappointed, cause one of the most important point you have in mind while choosing a hotel in SF is a parking without a pain.

Review 28:Overall it was a great hotel. My only issue was the bed was a little too hard for my comfort. Other than that it was a great experience.

Review 29:The staff was great, each day there was someone different at the front desk but each person was friendly and very helpful when I had a question or needed a cab. Parking wasn't an issue either, they are a first come first serve parking space but during my time there, I don't think there was a day where the entire lot was full even though it's kind of small.

Review 30:A lot of homeless people in the area, though this seems the case in much of San Francisco.

Review 31:Good comfortable hotel, with parking facility, good continental breakfast.

Review 32:Beds could be more confortable

Review 33:The hotel was very clean, had mirowave and refrigerator in room , provided continental breakfast plus on site parking for free which is rare in SF

Review 34:EVERYTHING!

Review 35:Everyone acted as if you were rudely interupting their lives and getting towels like pulling teeth! The WiFi never worked no matter what we tried and no one would help make it work. The place was filthy and surfaces sticky and dirty. NEVER AGAIN!

Review 36:We had kettle and microwave in teh room, very useful for warming up something quick to eat.Breakfast wa sok but there is no hall to eat so you have to pick it up with a try and eat in your own room

Review 37:The rooms are big enough but should be totally renewed! furniture, wall paper and moquette have probably been there since 1960!In afddition rooms are not very bright so the whole atmosphere is quite gloomy and a bit depressing!

Review 38:I got charged twice for one room but no one could figure out what had happened. The management was not understanding what my bank was asking for.

Review 39:The front desk receptionist was super. She tried to make management aware of my dispute even though she was unable to convay the situation she did her best.

Review 40:The matress was horrible. Firm and you could feel the springs in it. Breakfast is a little misleading;cereal, oatmeal, some kind of packaged sticky bun, and fruit. TV was pretty old and channels froze a lot.

Review 41:The room was bigger than I pictured. The bathroom was fairly large.

Review 42:Walk to market Street felt uncomfortable at times due to homeless people on street, would not have done it in the dark.

Review 43:Free parking but is very limited Hotel security Close to Market Street

Review 44:Area is extremely dumpy with lots of homeless. Our room MAY have had bedbugs. All three of us woke up with red, itchy sores.

Review 45:Good value. Room was musty and dated but almost charming. I had somewhere to park for free. This was huge for us.

Review 46:There are no transparent blinds on the window, so you either use artificial lighting (which is not very bright) and close blinds completely or you disclose your room to neighbors. No US power plug adapters available, you have to find one yourself (i.e. in BestBuy nearby for $5) No really 'hot&fresh' food on breakfast: instant porridge, some donuts, coffee, tea, etc are available on the reception No elevator, you have to take your luggage two floors up and stairs are relatively narrow.

Review 47:WiFi works good in rooms, receptionst was friendly, blinds are very good (you can put room into darkness during the day), bath (not a shower!), air conditioning.

Review 48:There is much deferred maintenance in the hotel. Peeling wallpaper, faded linens, TV the size of the titanic anchor.

Review 49:Felt very safe. There was a gate at the bottom of the stairs so people couldn't be wandering past our window unless they were another guest.

Review 50:It was hard to find as now doesn't look like the photo, and on a one way street, ended up going round the block several times.

Review 51:Good sized room, clean and comfortable, good location for us as we were going to a gig at Slims, not too good for the rest of San Fran unless you have a car

Review 52:The front staff was super nice. The rooms were very clean. Beds didn't have bedspreads (with other guests' germs) and the blankets were fully enclosed in sheets. This is a great place to stay if you want to spend your money on fun in the city rather than on sleeping accommodations.

Review 53:The pillows were very hard and flat. They were not comfortable at all.

Review 54:The room was very clean and in a good location. Upper floor was very quiet as well. The bathroom and tub was clean.

Review 55:The room smelt bad. There was no blanket on the bed or anywhere in the room, only sheets. It was quite cold. Housekeeping was poor, No signage on premises, so hard to find.we thought we had locked in a set price but the guy charged us an extra $150.

Review 56:There was a nice young girl on reception some of the days, very friendly and helpful

Review 57:Some how the date was not what we wanted. We had been on the site and we're both seeing the correct date, but somehow it changed. I have used this many times before. The manager would not allow us to change date to saturday. I get it we made the mistake. They didn't have to charge the card. we booked at 11;15pm. They could see there was no way we would be there that night... out 124.00 enjoy in manager.

Review 58:Nothing we didn't get to stay.

Review 59:Good sized room with everything you need for a short stay, staff was very helpful about showing US how to geht around and ordering food in. Clean and comfortable and free parking which is nice to have in San Francisco.

Review 60:The areas not the greatest. The room was a little cramped. It was a little cold and no extra blankets in room (might be at reception though, didn't ask) Stairs only, so not the greatest if you get a room up top with heavy luggage. The whole place is a little old and shabby, but functional.

Review 61:We stayed in a Queen room. Secure gate to get in. Clean room, good facilities. One of the receptionists was quite friendly. Free off street parking. Walking distance to city. Breakfast was ok. Cereal, fruit and yoghurt.

Review 62:The only negative thing I can write about is the bed, we had some hard time to sleep because if you move a bit, it immediately wakes up the other - it was like we would sleep in a 'water bed'.

Review 63:We`ve spent 4 nights in the inn. The location of the hotel is good, close to the city center mainly by walking (4 blocks from Muni). Not the best part of the city, but we had no issue with the homeless people around, even later in the evening. The breakfast is perfect - they don`t have any place to eat but you need to bring it back to your room. Corn Flakes, tea, coffee, yoghurt, juice, milk - all what we needed. The room is small, but perfect for the price. It`s significantly cheaper than any other hotels/inns in SF.

Review 64:Everything was fine, except for too many homeless people in the neighbourhood, but the hotel itself has nothing to do with the policy on homeless people

Review 65:It is very good taken care of by house keeping, not far from the center, you can go on foot

Review 66:The Office staff was rude and disrespectful. The male staff was degrading towards myself as a woman. He made multiple inappropriate comments referencing my sex as incompetent. When I needed extra blanket for my room due to the heater not working and it being cold I was denied. They are also very strict on their visitor policy, They kicked out the couple next door due to having one extra friend over past the visiting hours.

Review 67:I enjoyed the location of the hotel, it was walking distance for those who rather walk around town.

Review 68:No place for the breakfast, you have to take and eat in your room, and do not have a lot of choises.

Review 69:Have park for the car. Have microwave and fridge. The room was clean.

Review 70:No additional blanket and weather was cold. A/C made a lake at the carpet so my pc bag and suitecase were completely wet

Review 71:Parking is free if you grab a slot

Review 72:Could not access the room before 3h00pm -- I had arrived at the hotel at 8h00 am in the morning... but they agreed to keep my luggage for me until I had access to the room. I would of liked a little more flexibility from them...

Review 73:Short walk to Moscone Center and Union square. Well secured environment. Friendly service. Continental breakfast included. Good WI-fi service Plenty of parking for those who arrived by vehicle.

Review 74:This inn was the worst inn I've ever seen. Lack of parkings and if late, you have to park your car outside in the street which is not safe at all. Your car will be towed if you don't update the parking meter by 9 AM. There is a pub very close to the inn and some high and inappropriately dressed guys of this pub gather around in front of the inn. We saw one of them urinating just next to the inn reception room. No dining room and you have to have breakfast on a table in reception room just next to the reception clerk. Room smells disgusting and they leave the windows open to remove the stink but the stink is worse that to be removed this way. Bathroom with a transparent window totally visible from outside. In a nutshell is totally unsafe and unpleasant...

Review 75:Very hard and uncomfortable bed. Only 3 pillows? Wouldn't hurt to have 4 total. A little bit noisy in the morning because of construction next door.

Review 76:It was good for the money.

Review 77:There is no elevator, so have that in mind if you´re traveling with a lot of luggage

Review 78:Walking distance from the main Subway and Metro lines. If you are looking to party you´ll find a lot of bars very near. Room was very clean and the staff kind and helpful...

Review 79:Location. No real breakfast, just coffee and industrialized pastries inthe office. Not close to any bus stops.

Review 80:Free parking. In sf, thats gold. It's just like a motel, but veryclean, with great huge room. Totally worth it if you must have a car.Tip: leave your car there and get an uber to go around. Much cheaperthan parking around the city.

Review 81:Staff wasn't very attentive. Not enough towels left in room. Breakfast was left out in the office which was tiny, so we took our boxed milk and cereal to our room. The wall paper was very old and was starting to peel. No sign outside which made it difficult to find.

Review 82:You can take breakfast upstairs to your room. The view to the city was cool. Lots of plug ins. Safe parking garage.

Review 83:Pigeons everywhere just outside the door, so it sounded like they were in the room. Grab your earplugs!

Review 84:Location was good for the price. Staff was friendly.

Review 85:Very small room - Continental Breakfast here means: milk, corns, filtered brown water (so called coffee), tea and sweet cookie. - Dirty Motel in dirty district - Very noisy - felt like had my bed just on the street

Review 86:SFMTA Bus Station just next to corner

Review 87:As always, it could be a little "more/better" in everything customers want. If you drive, the free parking is limited to about half the hotel capacity. The neighborhood is a little sketchy by Republican standards, but likely easily tolerable by real people.

Review 88:If you're looking for a "Spa Experience" on the cheap, this aint it. But it IS an honestly clean enough, functional enough facility in a neighborhood well along in transitioning from Industrial to Commercial/Residential, and the Freeway is close and easy to access. Would stay again.

Review 89:Nothing.

Review 90:Everything was awesome, we arrived about 30mins early before check in and they let us check in early with no problem. The room was clean and just what we needed for our two day trip. For the price, I would totally stay here again!

Review 91:Alot of the reviews seem to suggest this is a dangerous area, but I didn't feel unsafe at all. There were some homeless people around but it's like that all across the city, and at the worst they would politely ask for some spare change.

Review 92:- First come first serve parking policy: there are not enough parking spots - Rundown furniture and bedding - Often clogged toilet - Very high price for what you get - Many hobo's outside - We didn't feel very safe at night in the surrounding area - Hotel itself did feel safe enough

Review 93:- Parked very early - Free parking, special in SF - 24-hour Friendly staff

Review 94:the breafeast room was not perfect. you have take your meals in the room. the bathroom is splitted in two, middle are near the bed. the costs for this kind of hotel is expensive

Review 95:The personnal, very gently and attentive. Thr parking was perfect

Review 96:We didn't get fresh towels on the second day, in fact all towels were gone when we came back in the evening. However, we just went to the office and the lady there was really friendly and sorry and immediately gave us new towels. The sink is outside the bathroom, which is a bit weird, but also no big deal.

Review 97:The staff was very nice and welcoming. The bed was comfy and the WiFi worked without any trouble. There are (some) parking spots inside the building.

Review 98:One of the beds had a very saggy worn mattress. The room was smaller than photos, but fine for our purposes.

Review 99:Location and free parking were very convenient. The price was very reasonable compared to others in the neighborhood. Nice bath/shower products -- better than expected. Free refrigerator was nice.

Review 100:Location! Not a nice neighborhood and not really close to anything, even though you can get to the metro/Bart in about 15 minutes walking. We were looking for a place with a private bathroom at a reasonable price (not easy in SF) and this met our criteria but would look elsewhere the next time for a better location, which was dirty, run down and did not feel safe.

Review 101:Bed, bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, price.

Review 102:-There are sketch people walking around the area (but all of San Fran had them) -The free continental breakfast wasn't too great (but not that big a deal)

Review 103:-Value -Microwave and Fridge -Sun Window -Free Parking -Friendly staff -Close to many store/bus stops

Review 104:Not enough parking spaces for all rooms, so can't move your car once you park it. Neighbourhood is pretty barren of cafes, etc. though we discovered Trader Joes and Bed Bath and Beyond etc on last night - on Bryant and 9th. Lots of homeless people.

Review 105:Hotel has on-site parking, which is important in this neighbourhood. Close to several bus routes so easy to get to all tourist sites. Room was small but adequate - like European hotels. Had coffee machine, fridge and microwave. Good breakfast options (continental). Staff friendly. Good value for San Francisco.

Review 106:A little run down. Pigeons walking around on our floor. Location doesn't offer much, except "the stud" next door and Kama sushi down the street.

Review 107:We booked at the San Francisco Inn for a quick one night stay in the city. We knew we weren't going to stay in the room for long, just needed a clean bed and shower. Everything was clean, a little outdated but ok. Free parking on site a plus. We came into the city early and was able to park at the hotel before check in.

Review 108:The san francisco Inn has really goog prices for a hotel in the heart of san francisco. The rooms are clean and the beds are big and ok. in this area ( soma) you will meet students , working people and homeless . that is what makes it interesting and off course sad to see that there are so many homeless people . They will leave you alone and I always felt safe in this area .

Review 109:Very friendly and caring staff that greeted us as we they were outside tending and cleaning the facilities each morning. Great value for the price! Rooms comfy, clean and tastefully renovated. Effort to make the place pleasant is apparent. Great mattresses and bathroom. The block is a bit seedy but turns out to be very convenient - 1 1/2 blocks from major road near public transportation, near attractions, etc. Rooms safe inside a gated courtyard and cars in the garage below the hotel. Super find in San Francisco.

Review 110:The rooms are very small. Breakfast is not much. They provide some sweet stuffed bun and cereals.

Review 111:If you plan to use public transport, then this place is deal. Bus stop is in front of this inn. City hall is at walkable distance from here. We were there for July 4. But there wasn't much noise on street. Staff was very considerate of our needs.

Review 112:Location entering the city is real bad, full with drug addicts. Hotel is dirty, around the building contruction so a lot of noise. Real poor breakfast. Not worth the money at all.

Review 113:The staff was kind and helpfull

Review 114:There's a lot of street noise, so bring earplugs if that'llmake it difficult for you to sleep. The mattresses aren't exactly$4000 unicorn-fur-stuffed pillow-tops either, but they're goodenough to sleep on.

Review 115:Excellent location in the city, friendly and polite staff, and reallygreat pricing. If your priorities when it comes to a hotel include fourwalls, a ceiling, and a bed, this is a great place to stay. If you carehow big the pool is or whether they have hbo, maybe not so much.

Review 116:The high pitched noise that the vending machines make, and the pigeons having sex right outside my door on most nights. I think the high pitched noise was supposed to keep the pigeons away.

Review 117:Nice-sized and pretty clean room. All facilities worked. Safe area & secure entrance to the rooms. Comfortable. Parking situation limited but fair. Friendly, polite staff. I would stay here again.

Review 118:Alarm for pigeons doesn't work and actually hurts my ears instead. Maids weren't up early to provide reviews. Wifi and connection sucks

Review 119:Comfy I guess

Review 120:Top floor room was surprisingly quiet for being in a noisy part of town. Refrigerator and microwave in room, which is rare in SF hotels.

Review 121:Not enough parking

Review 122:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 123:noisy

Review 124:Breakfast

Review 125:Rough location. Would not walk alone at night

Review 126:Good bed

Review 127:No Blanket, No TV channel guide

Review 128:Staff

Review 129:accomodating friendly staff. great parking.

Review 130:bad location, incredibly expensive for a run-down Motel 6.

Review 131:easy access to/from i80

Review 132:The proximity of the San Francisco Inn was excellent. Within walking distance of everything.

Review 133:Bit of a dodgy area

Review 134:The staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 135:Good location and has a free parking lot! Breakfast is nice!

Review 136:no breakfast

Review 137:location
