Reviews for Hyatt Regency Chicago
Review 1:The only bad thing was the wait for valet - we waited for almost an hour. They said there was an event happening, and we should've called from our room, but it still took way too long.
Review 2:The location was great. It was too cold for us to walk many places, but cab rides were inexpensive. The room was nice and clean, very comfortable.
Review 3:Having been to 500 cities and 22 countries so far, when checking out i was told to sit down and wait for ten minutes, while and quote,we go and check to see if you smoked last night. How dare they assume that you have misbehaved .Pretty annoying all in all.Especially when you don't smoke.
Review 4:Elevator very far from conference rooms. Doors very difficult to open. No recycling bins available even when asked. Towels laundered even though I hung them. Very expensive minibar.
Review 5:Staff was helpful
Review 6:Front desk staff not that friendly.
Review 7:Valet staff very friendly and helpful. Perfect location for walking both the loop area and the magnificent mile. Beautiful hotel.
Review 8:Horrible experience with payments. My stay at the hotel was a week ago , & there's still transactions being made on my account from the hotel. They've took $200 out of my account already, which I've paid for my stay in cash.
Review 9:We booked the room far in advance for the New Year's Eve celebration Chicago Star Rising. We thought being right where the action is it would easy to participate in the activities. First of all the hotel was set up like a fortress. No easy way to get in and out of the hotel. Everything was blocked off because of all of the festivities. We had some friends meet up with us later and had to pay $25.00 for wristbands for them so they could come in the lobby of the hotel. Also to be near the Star rising you had to pay $150.00. There is not charge in New York to be close to the ball dropping!!!!!! Some friends of ours got free wrist bands from the Hyatt to go into the festivities. Since we had to watch the star rise from across the river I think next year we will stay across the river so we can get in and out or our hotel easier.
Review 10:the hotel charge my credit more than what i book for and i did not use any service from them we only slept in the room and left they took double of the amount that booking gave me
Review 11:Parking should be included with the room price. That part was an unexpected large expense added to our cost.
Review 12:The property is beautiful and perfectly placed in the center of all the activities. It's within walking distance of so many attractions. We had a blast!
Review 13:N/A
Review 14:The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, we checked out the Big bar area on Saturday night and it was amazing and the wait staff were great (they even helped us figure out plans in the city), and the room was exquisite.
Review 15:Our room had clearly been a smoking room at some point. As a non smoker, the smell was awful
Review 16:The rooms were very good. The restaurant was efficient and tasted good
Review 17:I didn't like the view of the roof (we were on the 3rd floor), but it was offset by the price of the room and the friendliness of the staff. Question 4 is humorous to me..I wish I had taken pictures of our view of the roof and the skylight. Definitely not a stunning view.
Review 18:The staff were welcoming. The room was very nice and well worth what we paid for it.
Review 19:Parking handled very poorly.... Over 45 minutes to receive vehicle..... Short staffed.... Poor manners... Very poor service
Review 20:Location.... Staff.... Quiet rooms
Review 21:A waiter in breakfast asked me if i needed more time since "soon it will be a big line"... There was nothing. it was almost half empty.
Review 22:The location is great. The hotel is very nice, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is very good.
Review 23:Nothing
Review 24:Good hotel close within walking distance to attraction places such as michigan av tower bld 360 and millinuim park. Also, you can go around few buildings and shopping and food center from hotel underground t
Review 25:I have stayed here before and I keep coming back because I enjoy the staff and the room they provide is always according to my request. The only complaint is the cost of valet parking ($63/day) which is high especially if I stay for multiple nights. Might be better to offer reduced fares depending on how many days a person stays .
Review 26:The hotel rooms are located in two towers, one tower is brand new (and probably the rooms are new and modern as well) but the other tower is still very old. My room was in the older tower, had very old furniture (some pieces were broken) and the bathroom was not functional. Prices are the same for every room, so make sure you get to stay in the modern part of the hotel.
Review 27:Ideal location in downtown Chicago, awesome view form the room on the main skyscrapers of the city, good facilities (gym is well equipped) and nice staff.
Review 28:It looks more like a club than a hotel and it seems to cater to volume. The hotel just give the feeling of just "one more numnber" than a valued customer.
Review 29:Breakfast, although this wasn't included in the fare.
Review 30:The hotel is perfectly located. The check-in was simple and fast. We got a problem with the number of beds (was reserved a room for 3 persons, and we've got only one super king-size bed room initially), but upon request the room was immediately amended for the double king-size beds room for no additional costs.
Review 31:The bedding was not fresh smelling at all and I asked for this to be replaced which was duly done. The room was not clean well, quite dusty in places. When I was checking in a lady next to me was offered an upgrade. The receptionist dealing with me clearly decided I wasn't going to be offered one, even though I was obviously from overseas and on business. There was no assistance with baggage to the room. Essentially, you don't matter once you check in. This is a family hotel rather than a business hotel, it was quite noisy and I wouldn't stay here again.
Review 32:The location was good.
Review 33:Concierge made reservations for a dinner at an offsite restaurant and upon arrival, restaurant did not have our reservation.
Review 34:Location was excellent along with the view. It was centrally located to everything we planned to do. Would highly recommend the Hyatt! Staff was always helpful and friendly. Always greeted with a smile. Stetsons restaurant there is an excellent choice for steak and sushi for dinner. Outstanding food and waitress. Great attention to detail!
Review 35:The rate was higher, due to high demand for the Chicago Marathon.
Review 36:Great location and property for leisure or business travel. The staff was accommodating, especially with the number of visitors for the Chicago Marathon.
Review 37:We checked in late at night and the person at the desk was more interested in chatting than checking us in. We went to our room and the minute we opened the door, we knew this was not the room that we had paid for. We had paid for a king bed, this was a queen and the room was stuck in a corner and was very tiny. There were no drawers to store clothing. The blanket on the bed looked like a camp blanket and the binding was falling off. The next morning we spoke to the manager who of course said that was not the room that we had booked and gave us another room. He was very nice, but did not even offer to help us move. On our final day, we had to ask to get some money back for the first room and the hotel took 1/2 off the first night. We never send a complaint to a hotel, but this totally infuriated me. It is such a great location and such a lovely lobby. A few years ago we stayed at the Marriott for an anniversary and the concierge just happened to ask us why we were in Chicago. When we told him for an anniversary that night we had a bottle of champagne in our room waiting for us and a card signed by everyone at the front desk. We didn't book in there because our friends wanted to stay at the Hyatt. I don't believe we should have paid for the first room at all. We have had good luck booking through you, so I know it is not booking.com, but you should demand better of places that you represent.
Review 38:The booking.com link to the Hyatt Regency Chicago site indicated a Spa and wellness centre which was one of the reason I chose the hotel. Unfortunately that was not to be. There was no such centre onsite.
Review 39:Comfortable Bed. Clean Room.
Review 40:No pool or sauna. Location was average at best. Hotel too big - no personal touch at all. Staff offered an exclusive deal with the very large gym next door but did not realise the gym already had a better deal for triathletes anyway (in town for the ITU Triathlon World Championships). Would not stay there again.
Review 41:Gym was reasonable. Food was ok. Front desk and concierge staff were very good.
Review 42:Bathroom door dirty. American Craft egg dishes not so good.
Review 43:Modern. People friendly and helpful. Comfortable room. I liked the view of the Chicago River. American Craft pancakes good.
Review 44:We had no Dressing Gowns for the first two days, so mildly annoying. A very large Hotel so a little impersonal, although Staff were extremely helpful. Unfortunately they were also grinding out the cement between the Bricks and repointing - for the whole Building! A mammoth and noisy task.
Review 45:Very central and accessible for the City and the North shore, a lovely area. Also very near to the "Coast" and the River ferries. We were upgraded for a very limited cost which was great and gave us a City view.
Review 46:The reluctance and the repugnance on their faces of the housekeeping staff telephone operator concierge staff and front desk staff to help or walk an extra mile - but experience tells that is typical of most in the American service industry: complacent and expecting customers to empathise with their excuses of not delivering their promises fully.
Review 47:I liked the excellent location next to the central business district; and the roominess of the suites.
Review 48:Proximity to all the centres of interest. Chicago is an exciting city and it was just buzzing with the excitement of the marathon Staying at the Hyatt on 151 was a good experience that I and my wife will repeat again.Thank you.
Review 49:The first night we were put in a room on the 36th floor that had a pull out bed. The room look like it had not be updated since the 70's no joke. I called down stairs and complained witch is something I never do. The manager got us moved and it was much nicer. I did tell them they should never rent that room again.
Review 50:The towels were abrasive abd the TV was not suitable for watching sports on. There was no HD and the cable was basic (no Big Ten Network).
Review 51:The location and the bar.
Review 52:One of the front desk personnel offered water to the white couple in front of us but just smiled at us. What was surprising was he was asian and so were we.
Review 53:Very clean.
Review 54:airconfintuoner was super noisy. There weren't cotton pad and other little things could be helpful to travelers.
Review 55:Good location, close to park and all the shopping and entertainments areas.
Review 56:Bedding was ok, not the most comfortable linens. Refrigerator snack service which was way overpriced.
Review 57:Upgraded to river view which was nice. Market Chicago open from 4AM to 2AM for snacks. Great location to all downtown places.
Review 58:Shower/bath needed an upgrade to a better shower head. Carpets in the rooms seemed a bit old and worn. Fridge was full of drinks but didn't have space for any personal item to be placed inside; moving things in the fridge was not possible because they had sensors on all drinks and we could end up with being charged for just moving things in the fridge!!
Review 59:Very luxury and modern lobby and restaurant area. Great huge bar area with very nice staff. Location was great within walking distance to Magnificent Mile, city centre and most tourist attractions including millennium gardens. Room view was great looking at the Canal side. Staff very nice and friendly. Underground access to the adjacent streets and buildings
Review 60:No sitting area . Would have liked a nicer shower- waterfall-type shower.
Review 61:Pretty good view . Close to River and in walking distance of shops and restaurants. Comfortable bed.
Review 62:The room size just made me feel like I was in a NYC hotel room, not one in Chicago. Combine that with NYC pricing and it just didn't measure up.
Review 63:Loved the location
Review 64:very Unorganized staff and booking services, required changing room couple of time. the West tower is really bad experience, have to wait long time for morning elevators ( > 10 minutes ) , been charged extra things to my final bill that required clarification with the service desk
Review 65:Location
Review 66:BECAUSE THEY GAVE ME A ROOM WITH IN BOTH SIDE DOOR COMINICATE WITH OTHER ROOM, WAS TOO EXPENSIVE AN SMALL ROOM, I FEEL UNCONFORTABLE BECAUSE I CAN SMILE , OTHER PERSON LISTEN EVERYTHING I SAY.
Review 67:The beds creeked loudly when one changes position. Lobby was a tad noisy also. Missed having a pool. Parking rates seemed steep to me, but I'm from a rural area, so I admit I lack knowledge as to whether rate is usual or higher than usual.
Review 68:Location was great to access MI Ave -- walking distance to shopping and parks; Bedroom and bathroom were clean. Starbucks coffee in the room was a nice touch! Food at the restaurant in the hotel was tasty.
Review 69:Hotel allowed us to check in upon arrival which was hours before check in time. Reasonable prices at the market. Ease of catching a cab. Didn't like the room layout but comfortable bed. Would recommend
Review 70:Staff were not as personable as other locations. Regency club staff especially, Very unusual for Hyatt facilities. Valet parking staff the only ones who did not disappoint.
Review 71:The concierge ladies (LaRhonda and Tina)were very HELPFUL,HOSPITABLE,and WONDERFUL. They're a great asset to the hotel. We Love their great personality.
Review 72:Our room ran out of soap... Fitness center could of been better. But most of all the garage service was terrible , I waited over 30 min waiting on my car.
Review 73:I enjoyed the view of river and location... Also enjoyed the entrance area... Check in and out was excellent service
Review 74:Hotel is,large and can be difficult to navigate. Also, the sensored snack bar doesnt register if you put something back. Even if you pick something up to look at it and put it back down they will charge your room. If you call the desk and explain they will remove the charge but it is still annoying that you can not even pick up something in your room without it being charged to your bill.
Review 75:Clean, quiet, comfy bed
Review 76:I stayed here for 6 nights. U didn't provide me any shower things such as shower cap, soap (1 soap for 6 night), toothbrush etc. also, u didn't provide drinking water in the room along that I stayed. Very disappointed.
Review 77:1. Excellent location. 2. Large spacious room. 3. Excellent overall contemporary design. Design distinguishes this property from other competitors.
Review 78:No bathrobes in rooms for such an expensive hotel. Didn't like coldness of decor in lobby area. Lighting in room was only fair. Not much counter space in bathroom.
Review 79:The shower didn't work the first day. There was an empty chewing tobacco container under the desk and when I checked out they wouldn't give me a receipt, they said I paid Booking.com and I should get it from them. Which, as you know, isn't true.
Review 80:The location
Review 81:No complaints at all!
Review 82:This hotel is perfectly situated in a great area of Chicago. The Hotelstaff were extremely friendly and helpful. Being in a new city that isso big is intimidating and the Hyatt Regency Staff did a fantastic jobto go out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and never"lost". Amazing Stay!
Review 83:Stayed 3 nights....and 2 of the 3 nights was woken up by either window washers or construction..we were on the 30th floor..so I have no idea what it was...
Review 84:Accessible to downtown..and restaurants
Review 85:The staff was very nice and gave us an upgrade upon arrival as it was our anniversary. The room was very clean and beautiful. The bed and the linens were delicious
Review 86:My TV didn't work upon arrival. For the price, I expected to have a room nicer than a cheap chain motel. Despite being on full blast the entire weekend I was there, the a/c never got the room very cool. After paying for my room, I checked my credit card amount online, and found that I have a pending charge for $150 more. The extra money will apparently not be charged, but they do that in case you trashed your room. Like a security deposit, except they don't tell you about it unless you call them asking about the overcharge. Oh, and they screwed up my booking by somehow having all of my correct information, except they had my address as some place in Amsterdam...seriously...
Review 87:Decent location, very nice staff, quick service for repairs
Review 88:I didn't like that it felt like I was in an airport. It did not have any comfort or welcoming feeling. Antiseptic and unpersonable. Hyatt living off a former image and reputation. I did not like the dirty hall carpet. The ice machine that did not work on my floor and that no one ever put a sign on. The drunk teenagers at 12:30 am making lots of noise in the hall, the TV with poor reception that I could not order a movie and the TV was an older model, the dusty furniture that appeared it hadn't been dusted for a couple days. For the price of the room the room had absolutely NOTHING special about it. Coming back t the room after a long day had no sense of welcoming or comfort to it.
Review 89:The location was about the only thing I liked
Review 90:Beautiful Hotel in a really nice part of the city. The breakfast is worth getting with the room. Service was very good all around and the grounds were well taken care of.
Review 91:Lack of recycling and the east wing was noisy due to the firehouse across the street.
Review 92:The gentlemen who registered us was extremely pleasant and helpful. The bellhop was also very helpful.
Review 93:Everyone was very courteous and helpful. Everyone seemed well trained in ways to get you, or find someone who could get you what you need. We had breakfast included with our room. This was a buffet. But it was very upscale, with an omelet station and just about anything you might want! My husband was going for some pancakes and the pan was empty. He asked if they would be getting some more. The buffet attendant said "right away". He came back with something else and sat back down and a few minutes later the attendant was at his elbow with a plate of steaming pancakes. She remembered him and found him. This place was really good!
Review 94:No warm welcome on entering . Communication not easy with housekeeping staff. Toiletries in room very inadequate and poor in spite of writing.
Review 95:Location, friendly cafe staff and concierge.
Review 96:What I didn't like was the non-mention of the cost of valet parking. Now that was a surprise.
Review 97:What I liked most was the location..plenty of things to do close by, that's why I choose the Hyatt Regency of Chicago. The price was also a good deal for just one night.
Review 98:There were problems all along the whole weeks stay. I was very patient but in the end I went to the front desk to complain. The cable on the TV was out so that meant no movies and all we had at night after a long day was take out and movies so that was really hard. The other thing was no pool for exercising and the hotel was so busy and full.
Review 99:Fresh water, healthy food, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 100:The TV in the room was not HD. I would expect more updated amenities. Every TV in the bars and restaurants was up to date--just not in my room.
Review 101:Location was excellent.
Review 102:We had such a good time at the hotel, we do not have anything bad to say. Nothing was bad. It was a great experience to stay at Hyatt Regency. We always choose Hyatt Regency to stay when we travel.
Review 103:The woman who checked us in 0n 8/22/15 was excellent. Gave us a nice room with a beautiful view. It was beyond our expectation.
Review 104:They didn't pick the room service tray up for over 16hours even after they asked you to call. Hallways had them all over
Review 105:Staff was amazing! They all went out of their way.
Review 106:The only complaint I have was the $75 they put a hold on. Due to all the hacking that has been going on because they ran it as 2 seperate transactions they locked my card up.
Review 107:The hotel i found to be very accommodating. Great location and very helpful friendly staff. Great buffet breakfast!!
Review 108:all good!!!
Review 109:Jesse the concierge made my 6 year old daughter feel like VIP! (and myself Mommy VIP) thanks so much for all of the LOVE before her first concert---1D! at breakfast, vicente?. our waiter was fantastic! funny, nice and again, made my daughter feel very special. Gave her Hot Chocolate to go! and valet was soooo nice!
Review 110:The Waitor in the Big Bar located in the hotel was very rude. He took our order and didnt speak to us or refill our drinks. He tried to take the money before we could finish eating.
Review 111:The staff was able to assist our every need! Booking.com made a slight mistake with out hotel arraignment but the Hyatt Regency apologized and upgraded our room for free!
Review 112:The only complaint I had was that when we asked the concierge for directions she really not printed us out the directions and sent us on our way. I had asked to take the train she put us on the bus route so that caused some confusion.
Review 113:The location was great. Very central to everything we wanted to see. Fast and easy check out.
Review 114:Our service for dinner was a little slow, but there was only one server left it looked like as we had a late, 10pm dinner. That wasn't a big deal to me at all though and didn't affect my stay at all, just wanted to point it out.
Review 115:Location, aesthetics, variety of in-house restaurants, comfort and very helpful & friendly staff!
Review 116:Although the mini fridge was stocked with plenty of drinks, there was no room to put our own things. The furniture was definitely getting worn down and the lighting in the bathroom is not very good for applying makeup or getting a closer look at things. The ipod dock did not work and when I called the front desk for help the employee told me she didn't know what was wrong and there was nothing she could do. My stay was still great but these tiny things were slightly off-putting.
Review 117:The location is absolutely amazing. We had a superior view room which did not disappoint. The beds were very comfortable and the staff were polite and helpful. There is free water while you wait for check-in that is cold and infused with fruits. The bar, Big Bar, blew our minds. Drinks are expensive but they are delicious. We also ate at their restaurant, Stetsons, and enjoyed our sushi very much. The staff there were some of the nicest people I have ever met.
Review 118:I was charged $75 per day for "incidentals"...they said it would be refunded if I didn't use any services (which I didn't). It wasn't--at least not yet.
Review 119:The bell lagguage service is very poor, and they guys who r working there are not helping if they will assist u in carrying the bags they ask for tip first and arguing alot..
Review 120:I ate one of the worst meals ever in the downstairs American Craft Kitchen & Bar in the atrium lobby. I heard that they had just changed their menu and frankly both my friend and I thought it was terrible quality food. The service was also very slow the evening we ate there. We reported this to the staff member at check-out and he removed the cost of the meal from our bill for which we were most grateful. The Market store in the lobby sells breakfast pastries, coffee/tea, fruit, and miscellaneous snacks. There was a VERY long line in the morning with people simply buying coffee to go. It seems they need another source of quick, to-go coffee in the lobby so guests can avoid the long line.
Review 121:The room and bath were well appointed and clean. The check-in staff member was professional and efficient. The concierge staff members were very helpful. The hotel is huge with lots of guests being served effectively. We appreciated the easy access to computers and printers on the mezzanine which helped us quickly print our boarding passes. I misplaced my phone in the lobby before departing for the airport. When I called on the way to the airport, the Security Department had the phone and directed me to instructions on how to get it shipped to my home.
Review 122:Given the price of the stay, it was disappointing to 1) not have access to a fridge without paying for the bar 2) that snack tray is a truly horrible idea and needs to go. We arrived late and had the $12 almonds! Are you kidding me! That is offensive and I pity people with young children, because it sits out on a tray as though it is an offering and it can be as costly as the room costs! 3) instead of a continental breakfast, there is a restaurant in the lobby that has a breakfast buffet that costs 2 times what a normal breakfast buffet would cost, so if you have an early flight and no time to go out to breakfast, you pay dearly.
Review 123:location was the best thing. We would probably never stay here again
Review 124:Some staff didn't know what you had to offer, i.e. were told to go down town for mens shave/haircut when the hotel offered a brilliant service downstairs. Fortunately we asked another staff member who redirected us.
Review 125:Nothing bad, the food from restaurant at entrance by escalator just ok.
Review 126:Excellent location, could walk to the pier, miracle mile and millennium park. Staff advised how to get to slightly further places like Shed aquarium and Willis tower.
Review 127:No fridge except minibar. Beds "dished" in middle. Overpriced compared to other local name brand hotels. Hard to maneuver around. Dated, worn furniture.
Review 128:So convenient. Big windows.
