Reviews for Gardentree Hotels
Review 1:NOTE: The Liberty Bowl was being held the Saturday we stayed. We had 6 people in our group so we rented 2 rooms. Our bathroom shower ceiling was falling apart and the plaster was all over the shower seat and floor. There was no toilet paper holder, while odd, was a minor issue. The other rooms smoke detector was removed by a previous guest so they could smoke in the room. The room smelled of cigarette smoke and the smoke detector wasn't replaced by hotel, it was still laying on the desk. Everything on the breakfast buffet was empty when we arrived at 7am. They brought out some chipped beef which was ice cold. We went to IHOP instead.
Review 2:Location was good easy access and close to restaurants.
Review 3:Felt very dirty to me. Only 1 coat of paint, paint on trim, holes in wall behind toilet. Rooms very loud with no carpet or rugs! Uncomfortable for a parent with kids. Very dirty halls & elevator. At breakfast- no syrup, milk, eggs, pancakes or biscuits & gravy. Out of bowls, forks, & napkins. Had to go elsewhere to eat.
Review 4:Friendly front desk.
Review 5:The lobby was very pleasant as far as the decor, walking to our room thats when it began to get a little creepy, the floors were creaking almost felt like you were going to fall through, the hallway gave us a haunted hospital feel, I feel like some remodelling to the outside to room door would do a bit justice, also better the lighting in the hallway as well. Once we entered our room it was very nice, the bed was awesome as far as size, the bathroom was pretty too, once we did closer inspection you could tell the bare minimum as far as cleaning was done, the rust gave us an unpleasant feeling, the holes in the bathroom wall, the tub was peeling, our air conditioner took a while to warm up our room, other than that it was good, the pool area was very unattractive, maybe because young children were all over the place at the time.. we only stayed one night, but we would come back.
Review 6:The bed frame was a large metal frame that made a horrible loud noise every time you moved. If I rolled over I woke my husband.
Review 7:The room was nice and clean and the staff was very friendly.
Review 8:The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was great because it's surrounded around lots of restaurants. The area is also surrounded by quite a few other hotels, so there were times the restaurants weren't such a great idea because of the wait.
Review 9:Bathroom was updated, but hallways and doors were beat up. Just needs a nice paint job! Exterior doors didn't lock so anyone and everyone could walk into hotel at anytime
Review 10:The lobby area was very updated and looked great. The front receptionist was extremely nice and did a fantastic job with all the commotion.
Review 11:Very worn hotel had some remodeling, bed topper had dried blood on it,removed it to reveal several other stains on mattress, but 69 dollars a night I didn't expect much
Review 12:Was good value for the money, had indoor pool and hot tub.Room had hardwood floors and new furniture and fridge with wine cooler
Review 13:The hotel was not very well kept up. The floors in the halls desperately needed vacuumed. The room was very small and a tight fit for our family. We didn't feel comfortable durning our stay.
Review 14:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool is very nice.
Review 15:Too much noise. Repairs were beind done in the hallway and room next to mine. Sound of drills and hammering went on most of Sunday morning of my stay. Also exterior door security was non operational. Lack of silverware in breakfast area.
Review 16:The staff was very out going and helpful.
Review 17:The lighting in this hotel was not very good, the heating unit in our room had a short in the cord and would not function properly. The breakfast was disappointing to say the least the eggs were dried and crusty, the grits watery and the bread for toast was stale. The room was pretty clean, but the bathroom would benefit from some tlc, especially the bathtub. The elevator went out on us and we kept hearing "the elevator is out again" so we took the hint that it would be awhile and had to haul all of our things downstairs...not a very pleasant stay.
Review 18:The best thing about this hotel was the bed it was great!
Review 19:plaster on ceiling in bathroom falling down, room was updated recently, but no one checked the work to ensure it was clean before reserving the room out to guests. Ceilings are really low, so if you are tall, not a room for you.
Review 20:friendly staff, breakfast was good
Review 21:Here is a list.....first and foremost this should not be called a 4 star hotel; room was small(deluxe King?); area around toilet dirty; AC/heat did not work; dirty walls; dirty ironing board; clock kept making weird noises; black mold on ceiling above shower; small shower; broken elevator; musty smell in hallways and rooms.
Review 22:The staff during check in was very nice and accomodating. Allowed me to secure a room prior to check in time while I ran errands and they prepared.
Review 23:Bathroom wasn't nice. I understand they are doing a renovation but could have painted the brown areas around the toilet to make it more presentable. It was clean but esthetically unpleasant. It took over an hour to come fix a lights that had gone out in the bathroom.
Review 24:Great location. Clean room. Comfy bed.
Review 25:The facility was old and the updates seem to have been done hastily. The elevator was very dirty. They could easily improve all of these with more detailed cleaning.
Review 26:The room was comfortable( bed and TV we updated). The check in process was fast and easy.
Review 27:Needed updating and although I stay 4 nights 5 days, I only received a room clean once (Saturday) which means I had to ask for more towels everyday.
Review 28:Hotel was reasonable price and Kevin was helpful.
Review 29:the carpet was very dusty around the base brd. and bath room not clean ,tv screen was dirty ...hotel is old and need tlc
Review 30:Breakfast was ok but no decaf coffee
Review 31:There was really no dislike, but the indoor pool temperature was not suitable for the weather. Breakfast could have been a little better.
Review 32:The staff was very courteous and polite.
Review 33:Had some difficulties with the Television in our room. It took thirty minutes for someone to help, though it was handled professionally and to our satisfaction. The facilities showed its age, especially the interior of the elevator and the poor paint fresh up in the Rest Room.
Review 34:The Gentleman at the desk, Kevin, was wonderful. His attitude far out paced the facilities. He was always encouraging from the late night check in to the morning breakfast.
Review 35:I have stayed at this hotel 4 times and every stay I notice more and more improvements to the building. I think the ppl are nice, it's always quite, and the bed is comfortable.
Review 36:The bathroom tub had two mole spots.
Review 37:I like the friendly staff and complimentary products such as comb and toiletries. The large flat screen TV and microwave and refrigerator were good.
Review 38:My first room was filthy and the second room was just bearable. The hotel was noisy with patrons slamming the doors at all times of the night and speaking loudly in the hallways. Also, the hotel did not feel safe and secure!
Review 39:The reception area was fine, but that was it!
Review 40:On our check out day, some guy from the housekeeping staff barged in our room without really making sure we were ready to see anyone. They also tried to charge us some additional fee than what we feel was stated online.
Review 41:I like the way the front desk worker offered descent customer service.
Review 42:Remodeling is in progress so there are obvious shortcomings such as paint smell. There are also items that still need repair or replacement.
Review 43:Staff was great and remodeling is obviously underway.
Review 44:I have stayed at the gardentree about three times and every time I go I notice the upgrade that they have done, it great to see them still putting in the hotel to make better
Review 45:The bed made loud squeaky noises but I could deal. And they need a side door.
Review 46:It was in a great location. I loved the bed. And they give you all the toiletries you need.
Review 47:I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The elevator worked not evenhalf the time, and there was a yellow sticky note taped over one of thebuttons in the elevator that said " do not push, you will getSTUCK!" We were on the 2nd floor so we had to carry our cooler andsuitcases down the stairs to our car when we left. I also asked one ofthe housekeepers for two extra towels and he looked at me like I had twoheads and told me he already cleaned my room until I insisted that Ineeded two more. I would have spent a little more money and stayedsomewhere else!
Review 48:About the only thing that was good about this place was the location.
Review 49:The scent in rooms wasn't fresh..kind of old stale.carpets stained sum what.rusted toilet bolts.closet area needed renovation.. scared to put my belongings in there..
Review 50:The location was perfect for what I needed..staff was awesome...
Review 51:The front desk staff was less than friendly. There was tons of noise from hotel construction. Also the breakfast was lack luster at best; stale muffins, luke warm coffee and no juice
Review 52:The room was decent
Review 53:1.Carpet was dirty.2. Holes in the wall in the bathroom. 3. I was traveling with my 7 yr old grandson and asked for room with double beds. Instead got king size bed. When I informed the desk clerk, I was told there were no rooms available with double beds.( I don't think she even check to see) Very disappointed with the room all together. The furniture was in poor condition and did not get good reception from the TV. 4. We know the fire alarm was working, because it went off the second day of our stay. False alarm. Very scary for grandson and myself. 5. First morning of our stay, there was a long line of football player waiting outside of the Breakfast room. We decided to go elsewhere for breakfast. Second morning no line, but the servers were very slow bringing out the food.
Review 54:Free WiFi
Review 55:I didn't like the elevator it was creepy and hot the. Hall was hotand even though the bed was comfortable the. Pillows sucked the WiFiwent off a lot
Review 56:The staff was great and the breakfast was to the beds were comfortableand the location of the hotel was great
Review 57:Renovations, changing room instead of fixing TV, rust on doors in pool area. Run down, cracks, holes, TV had lines thru picture. Musty smell. More like a one star than a three star. Before they extend, they should repair old part. Also workers and staff stared at us in the spa. Spa didn't heat up. Pool freezing.
Review 58:Leaving
Review 59:The entire property is in need of an extensive renovation. It clearlyhas not been maintained properly and the reviews grossly overstate thequality of this hotel. From the moment we walked to the side entrancethat was supposed to be secured via card key yet wasn't, to gettingon the elevator with a missing display for the floor indicator and a Post-it taped over the "Door Open" button that said "Do notpress," to getting off the elevator that wasn't level with thefloor, we knew the property was not accurately reviewed. The room wasadequate but the mattresses were abysmal and the a/c took all nightto cool down the room. We were very close to giving up our prepaid room(for $73) to go to another hotel, but it was midnight when we arrived.Stay away if you expect anything better than a 1-star hotel. I think theRed Roof Inn down the street would have been better.
Review 60:That our stay was only for one night.
Review 61:There was a lot of construction noise that started around 8 am which was very inconvenient for us bc it kept waking up our 8 month old son
Review 62:The room was clean and comfortable
Review 63:The room was obviously not a smoke-free room, the odor was bad - how doI know? I found a used lighter under the covers under my leg (terrible). The bath room was clean, but no hot water!!!!! One would think thatthere would be hot water available - nope. The room (king) was not asbig as its promoted to be. Other than that, not a good stay. I felt Iwas back in China - seriously.
Review 64:Location was good, Cracker Barrel was next door - but that's it.
Review 65:I hope this serves as a warning to travelers considering this propertyin the future. Who the heck is giving the place four stars? Thisproperty has potential but is going downhill fast. The smell of bugspray was prevalent and particularly bad in the elevator. Bleach spotsin the carpet all over. Carpet felt nasty. With some investment, itcould be better. I was traveling with my brother, used my credit cardfor the purpose of booking only. Both of us gave them credit cards butthey charged both rooms to my credit card.
Review 66:The corners of the floor everywhere had lots of debris. There was only 1 waffle maker for the entire hotel with a LONG line of people waiting to use it. There was no soap, shampoo or conditioner samples in the room, only an opened bar of soap by the sink. The whole place was in need of some maintenance. What repairs were done, were of poor quality. We had ants in our 2nd floor room.
Review 67:The only good thing was the employees were friendly.
Review 68:Ripped curtains in room. Smelled of mildew in room. Bathroom doorwouldn't close. Air conditioning loud sqeak when we turned it on.(We only stayed 5 minutes) construction going on and dark blackhallways. We pulled up and were the only car in the parking lot. Whatcaught my attention was the front desk girl said "if your nothappy with your room please come and tell me and I'll give youanother one"
Review 69:We ended up staying at the Sheraton downtown.Lady behind the desk was nice enough to give a refund since we weren't happy.
Review 70:--The elevator broke and remained out of commission for 5 days. Going up and downstairs was difficult for us and for the housecleaning staff. --The A/C smells nasty; the room "itches". The top bedspread was dirty. --Ventilation in the bathroom is poor. --Mold was on the desk chair --Breakfast: Eggs were gray. Self-service is a back-and-forth, unorganized mess. The AC was often not working in the dining room. --Multiple holes in the wall due to poor installations, poor workmanship --Curtains have holes and need replacing. --This is a sad, sad property.
Review 71:--The location is not far from the expressway. --The small microwave oven and refrigerator were clean and functional.
Review 72:There was a small ant problem. But I can take ants over roaches any day. We told the front desk and they said the problem would be taken care of.
Review 73:It smelled good and the room was nice. I also liked the TV. I was a little worried about staying here after reading some of the reviews but I was really extremely pleased with it when I arrived. The girl at the desk was awesome and offered us a room away from everyone so it would be quiet.
Review 74:Very loud party in the pool area. Night staff was rude or not at the front desk at all. Electrical outlets hanging out of the wall! WiFi didn't work at all. When I reported it I was just told there were no other complaints!
Review 75:Breakfast was good and food staff were friendly. Beds were comfortable.
Review 76:Only negative was that when I went to check out no one was at the front desk. I waited for 5 to 8 min but I had an appointment to keep so left the room key on the counter.
Review 77:Conveniently located off interstate, comfortable and clean
Review 78:Very dirty floors, especially around toilet area. Worn bed cover, grubby lift etc. Poor cleaning and maintenance have really let this hotel down.
Review 79:Price good for 4 star (allegedly). Clearly once a very nice hotel with good quality fittings.
Review 80:It was hot everywhere except the room like they didn't want to run the air.
Review 81:The variety of the breakfast choices. We arrived after pool hours and they kept the pool open so my kids could swim. The location was great right in the middle of everything.
Review 82:Old dirty smelly carpet was the worse. Large holes torn in curtains. Sheets to small for bed. It wasn't cheap so I expected better. Pass this one!!
Review 83:The friendly customer service and good hot shower is the only good things about this place
Review 84:That it didn't smell clean and the sheets didn't smell clean and the towels. They needed to use bleach to sterilize the remote and the bathroom.
Review 85:The nice staff and the bed was soft and comfortable.
Review 86:The staff was friendly but the wait in line to get checked in was long. The elevator didn't work and the hallways were very hot. Two king beds in a room with four people was way too small and uncomfortable.
Review 87:I liked the very friendly employees.
Review 88:Checked in late in the evening, was told the elevator is out of service, and the people were working on it, and it should be done in couple of hours. But, until the next morning when we checked out, the elevator was still not working. Had to carry the luggages up and down with small kids. And was been told that there was no first floor rooms for us, and they couldn't do anything about it.
Review 89:Room was clean. Had everything needed. Breakfast was okay, not too many choices, cereals, toasts and stuff, no meat.
Review 90:The phones in the room didn't work, they have to replace switchboard. Water damage spots hanging tile in hallway, narrow entrance. Needs updating and four stars were two 2 many. I wouldn't return n don't recommend at 4 stars. If it were 2 stars I wouldn't complain.
Review 91:Friendly staff at check in and out.
Review 92:The curtains tore n room my cousin toilet was leaking hot n pool room hallways no air elevator went down but was fixed asap the price should b a little cheaper
Review 93:Staff was very nice answered all questions the inside pool free breakfast
Review 94:First they gave us a used/messy room. Then they gave us a roasting hot room. I guess they don't bother to turn on any air conditioning at all ever, even if someone is going to stay there. It took about four hours to cool off the room, even though they told us it should take 1/2 an hour. We were too exhausted to move all our stuff, so we were out of luck. Then the shower---there was used soap on the floor and the shower hadn't been cleaned apparently. There was even an earwig in it. Gross. Breakfast--pretty good except I'm pretty sure my pastry was rancid. I did not eat more than one bite of that. If you have to stay here, make sure to stay on the bottom floor and Definitely don't get the room number #419 (handicapped room) because that was where we stayed and it was terrible. After this experience, I asked the customer service at the front for a discount on the money I paid. She said she would ask, but apparently the manager did not agree that we needed a discount because my card was charged the full price later.
Review 95:The customer service representatives were kind. They let me borrow one fan (although we really could have used two, they didn't want to give up both of theirs--although they might consider turning on the air conditioning upstairs because that would be kind too). They also printed my sister's airplane ticket for her, which was nice. The beds were comfortable too, so that was nice.
Review 96:It was clear that the building was a little old like the bathroom door wouldn't close and the elevator was slow.
Review 97:This was a great deal. The room was clean and spacious. The staff was friendly. The bed was comfortable. The TV was big. And there were a couple of restaurants within walking distance. They also provided more toiletries than I've ever received at a hotel.
Review 98:The bleach stain carpet in the hallway. The A/C does not work in the breakfast and pool area. Water down gravy green bananas no meat for breakfast
Review 99:The price of the room and the A/C worked well
Review 100:Room was very dirty, staff fair, hot tub no didn't run, lobby cool but3Rd floor halls hot as heck no ventilation, bathroom nasty, thereresturant closed we ordered domino's pizza and delivery took over 1hour and pizza sucked to boot not to happy bUT the bed was nice and wewere tired from 22 hours on the road, slept good needles to say,the kidswell be ok
Review 101:The bed
Review 102:Elevator was out of service and stayed on 3rd floor. In the pool there was quite a bit of "extensions" and it was too warm in the pool area.
Review 103:The bed and breakfast
Review 104:There where a couple of places that still needed repair such as the pool area (mainly the restrooms and utility door) and a couple spots of carpeting in the hallways leading to guest rooms.
Review 105:The location was great. Close to the interstate and everywhere we wanted to visit. Also in a quiet, safe, and secure area. The Staff was very welcoming and friendly which made the experience comfortable for visitors. There was a slight situation with a guest but the manager was able to defuse the guest very quickly in a calm and very professional manor which impressed me greatly considering the guests hostel demeanor at first.
Review 106:The hotel is very old and it showed. The floor we stayed on had no air conditioning. Our rooms air conditioner did not work well and none of us got very good sleep because it was so hot.
Review 107:The staff was friendly.
Review 108:My room was bug infested and I wasntngiven another room. I had to check out on a Saturday night and I had to try and find another room. The management was very rude. Plus I was charged twice and a month later i still haven't gotten all of my money back.
Review 109:Got an excellent rate on king suite, even though was only me. Close to restaurants, a little far from airport, but knew this when booking. The staff in breakfast room were OUTSTANDING and selection was excellent. Was a great stay.
Review 110:There was a mistake with my invoice and I had to email them many times to get a correct one... Mistakes happen. If they fixed the invoice quickly, I'd give this place "excellent" rate but since for some reason it took long time, giving "good" rate
Review 111:I like the location, hotel, staff etc... pretty much everything
Review 112:This is not a 4star but a 2star. Elevator was out, WiFi did not work, no hair dryer, brkfst was mediocre, stained bed spread, open closet shelf was really crooked.
Review 113:Cost only $82.
Review 114:Took too long to check in Elevator was down for entire stay Room door was too hard to open and very loud when closing. Not enough channels on tv and pic was kinda foggy or blurry
Review 115:Bed was comfortable
Review 116:The lifts were not working rubbish was piled up near the stairs we had to use. When you make a group booking of 4 in a room not enough towels or cups.
Review 117:The staff were great espically the man at breakfast keeping things full and the breakfast wasexcellent
Review 118:Elevator was out most of our stay. They only put 3 towels in the room for a four person room. Had to ask for more towels every day and it was difficult to get them. Breakfast was awful.
Review 119:The cost was pretty good but wish I would have spent a few more dollars and gotten a better hotel
Review 120:The elevator was broken the entire time we stayed there. Also, the other hotel guests were rude and there was a fight/party in the parking lot around all of the cars. This really was not the hotels issue, but made it for a really uncomfortable stay.
Review 121:The man at the front desk was one of the nicest person I met. He stayed cool even when the lobby was full of people trying to check in (there was a family reunion there that weekend.)
Review 122:The ground-floor room we were supposed to have was occupied when we went into the room (we didn't see anybody but TV was on, luggage was in room). The elevator broke during our stay. Luckily, we were only on the 2nd floor.
Review 123:Staff was attentive and willing to fix any problems. They took ownership of any issues and didn't make excuses. As a newly acquired property, this location is a work in progress but they are moving in the correct direction.
Review 124:They were having trouble with the elevator, but a repair man was there shortly to fix it.
Review 125:The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was clean and neat. We would stay there again.
Review 126:Lights and a/c in the hall wasn't working properly. The elevator stopped working right after we checked in (apparently this is common). The bathroom needed lots of repair work. The TV cable came out of a big hole in the wall. Half of the property is closed, I assume undergoing renovation? Very creepy and a little scary.
Review 127:The staff was friendly and didn't argue when I told them I was cancelling my reservation.
Review 128:Old run down facilities, wifi did not work, advertised as 4 STAR but is is only 1.5. Air condition was not on in the lobby. Tiled floors wet from pool users, made it very dangerous to walk to elevators. Very disappointed when we arrived.
Review 129:It was a cheap hotel
Review 130:The hotel smelled like mode. The first room they gave us smelled like mode so bad we had to change room. The second was much better, but still smell like mode.
Review 131:The pool area had been remodel and was very nice
Review 132:I made reservations and when I made it to the hotel they have my rooms up . The manager was there until the next day and me and my gamy traveled from Chicago and ready to check in and couldn't. The service was terrible . The attendant recommend I see the manager tomorrow
Review 133:Nothing at all
Review 134:The room was beautifully decorated. The bed was fabulous. I slept through breakfast both days. The staff was very friendly. The location was incredible. Walking distance to all of the major restaurant chains.
Review 135:doors had to be slammed to shut, no hair dryer-had to ask for one, residue caulking was all over baseboards in bathroom, one of the amenities left was used.
Review 136:Our 1st room had a mildew odor and bathroom door was broken and room door was broken also they changed our room the new room door still was messed up and didn't have microwave in which we were promised microwave however never received...they also locked us out the room saying we stayed over when we were booked for 3 days...poor customer
Review 137:Comfy beds and flat screen tv and jacuzzi
Review 138:The wifi signal wasn't great, but a very minor issue!
Review 139:Booked room through booking.com when we arrived the room had not been confirmed with the hotel as they were already fully booked, but luckily a couple of guests had cancelled so we were lucky enough to get a room and the staff were extremely helpful in sorting this out for us, the hotel was a welcome change from some of the motels we had been staying in! Beds were extremely comfortable and the location was good, we ending up staying an extra night
Review 140:In the middle of renovations but not a bad thing since they are putting money back into property. It would be nice if pool hours was later when you have kids ridding in car all day be nice for them to unwind for awhile.WiFi would be nice as well
Review 141:Good night sleep
