Reviews for River Hotel

Review 1:The staff really were excellent and, if you're a first-time visit to Chicago, you will likely love this location right on the Chicago River, next to the Loop, at the entrance to the Magnificent Mile and close to great attractions.

Review 2:Upgraded our room yet it was still incredibly small, however that didn't matter as the beds were very comfy. Unfortunately lour view ooked on to the word TRUMP ;) - impressive building though!

Review 3:The location was beyond perfect and the concierge staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The view down the river was beautiful.

Review 4:the only thing i didnt care for was our room literally had no window; the one we had was covered so we got no day light or fresh air but the room was comfy

Review 5:it was an extremely good location especially since it was a last minute plan for New Year's Eve...within walking distance of all the activities in downtown Chicago for under and it didn't break the bank

Review 6:We have stayed here before and really enjoy the location and staff. Very good hotel in the loop. The rooms are a bit small but that does not bother us. We are are out and about most of the time. We really enjoy the lounge area for reading the paper and coffee.

Review 7:The room was a bit small, and it was not sound proof from neighbors. But that being said, nothing really was that bad.

Review 8:The location was excellent, and the staff was really helpful. They got us a room with an excellent view, and were always available if we had questions

Review 9:the room wasn't clean by the staff until Requested specifically, it happened twice, there was irritating noise from AC out of the building.

Review 10:the location

Review 11:Parked car in valet, rather pricey at $50.00 per day. I left a blue tooth ear piece in car, and it was gone when the car was returned. I should have known better.

Review 12:Great location. near Michigan, and State street. Felt very safe.

Review 13:Didn't like the duvet on the bed.

Review 14:Location was amazing. Beautiful historic building and very nice staff. Amazing view of the city from the window.

Review 15:The kitchenette in the room only came with a microwave, mini fridge and coffee makerl i was hoping for a mini stove and also eating utensios and plates. It took three phone calls to finally for the staff to bring me a srt of fork and knife.

Review 16:Great location, comfy bed

Review 17:We faced TRUMP sign opposite. Reception staff ignorant about tourist possibilities. ( didn't know about hop on hop off bus opposite.

Review 18:Excellent room in historic building. Great location opposite hop on hop off bus stop. Great restaurant next door.

Review 19:The shiny cover on the duvet was horrid. The room was big enough to have held a bigger bed.

Review 20:The location on the river opposite the Trump Tower and just a minute from Michigan Avenue cannot be better. The hotel is housed in a wonderful building.

Review 21:The rooms are very small and ours struggled to get cool which was unfortunate.

Review 22:Great hotel awesome classic style in a great location and the staff was fabulous.

Review 23:It's got a beautiful and comfy room where you can have breakfast but...with no breakfast...!!Well, just coffee and if you're lucky you'll get some bananas and apples...

Review 24:We loved the location!! Easy check-in and check out, plus the staff was friendly.

Review 25:We had an odd noise on our vents that continued both nights that we were there that kept us from getting a good night's sleep. We told management and it appeared to have gone away during the day but returned at night. Possibly due to the heat being turned on.

Review 26:Location was fantastic. We could walk everywhere we wanted to go from there.

Review 27:Elevators were very slow, room was very small considering the price. Room had no iron. Waterfront without a view (one of two rooms that there was a wall in front of the view to the river), admittedly this was not a deal breaker, however still surprising. Staff made noises entering hall closets in the middle of the morning.

Review 28:Staff was courteous, nice clean hotel, excellent location to almost everything I needed.

Review 29:The location was great for easy access any where in the city, hotel had everything we needed and a great plus was the free washer/dryer facilities as we were moving on for another week. No complaints

Review 30:I'm sure the view from some rooms is great but mine wasn't, but that's more of an issue with the construction of the actual building and not really the hotel's fault

Review 31:The building is beautiful, the staff was great, and the room was nice.

Review 32:The room size

Review 33:Everyone was so friendly when we entered and when we left we were assisted all the time the rooms were immaculate the only problem I had was the room was really small for the price

Review 34:nothing negative, we had a wonderful stay!

Review 35:Our best hotel during our Northern America trip. Excellent value for money, perfect location at the Chicago river. We were assigned a huge room that consistet actually of 2 rooms, i.e. two large beds, 2 showers, 2 bathrooms. Nice and clean.

Review 36:Only problem we had was the charging station didn't work in r room which made it harder to charge r phones and other electronics.

Review 37:Loved the staff they where very helpful and friendly

Review 38:Nothing!

Review 39:Hotel was in a great location across from the river and in the city centre. Everything was in walking distance if you like walking. Public transport is good if you want that option. Hotel staff were excellent. Pedro and Ryan at the front desk deserve a special mention for great guest care. Hotel has great facilities with all you need for a happy stay. Will make Club Quarters/ River Hotel my place to stay when in Chicago.

Review 40:Sadly no breakfast included in the hotel stay but that seems to be fairly normal for Chicago. On the plus side, there was a corner bakery right next door.

Review 41:Could not have asked for a better location or nicer staff. The hotel is on the Chicago River at the corner of Michigan Ave. Our room overlooked the river. It is within walking distance of 2 CTA stations and Millennium Park. The Architecture Boat Tours start right across the street from the hotel. I can't imagine staying anywhere else in the city.

Review 42:I can't complain. Our 2 day stay was pretty legit. If I had to say one bad thing, the new guy didn't,validate my parking correctly and I had to go back but other than that.

Review 43:Our view was awesome. Right across from trump tower and we were able to walk every where including the water taxis across the street that took us to Willis towers.

Review 44:The mattress, it was 2 individual old mattresses put together instead of a king bed. But the room and the views were so nice that didn't want to change it.

Review 45:Location and the view... and that they give for free as many bottles of water as you want!

Review 46:Just missed a bath mat and face flannel on my last day - but these things happen

Review 47:The location and everything as above - all good, if not quite excellent (Roman particularly helpful)

Review 48:Credit card overcharge which didn't match invoice - charged $310 but invoice was approx $256. Struggling to get anyone to discuss the issue. As I paid for my colleague as well the overcharge came to approx $108 for one night.

Review 49:Very basic and hugely overpriced. Very small and dark rooms, no fridge. Dirty walls and very dirty carpet. Very old and noisy air condition. The bath had just a curtain (reminded me of a college dorm). Uncomfortable and old bed. The hotel has no room service basically: for in-room dining they use a below average cafe. Had to wait one hour for a salad which was served in plastic plate.

Review 50:free wifi, central location

Review 51:At this hotel you are paying for the location. The room furnishings were pretty basic and the room size was pretty small for the price.

Review 52:The location was very nice. The staff was great.

Review 53:The room was really small but we knew that before we booked based on other reviews. We also did not spend to long in the room came for sightseeing.

Review 54:The location can not be beat. Right downtown on the water perfect for being right in the city.

Review 55:Manager of restaurant could have been less abrupt to both customers and staff.

Review 56:Excellent reception staff. Water facility in hallway. Room layout and comfort. Breakfast options great.

Review 57:Front desk area can get congested as flight crews do use this hotel but that's why the electronic kiosks were so good!

Review 58:I could checkin without even having to speak to a person. When I did speak to staff, they were knowledgable.

Review 59:Got "upgraded" to a larger room due to late checkout and we were staring at a dirty wall for 3 days. Were told we could request something better early the next morning but the hassle of changing rooms wasn't worth it. The service at the restaurant downstairs was slow.

Review 60:Perfect location! Extremely friendly, knowledgable and helpful staff.

Review 61:They could refresh the overall aspect of the hotel (furniture, floors, carpets, etc). The TVs are old and have those annoying controllers and impossible menus. Carpet and curtains in the rooms could also be replaced for a fresher aspect.

Review 62:Location is perfect. Value for money is good compared to nearby hotels. Free wifi works fine, keurig coffee machine in the rooms. They changed my room when I asked for one on a higher floor.

Review 63:I've stayed here for business twice. I love the location of this hotel. It is across the street from the river access and there are convenience stores/restaurants/bars/etc. in the immediate vicinity. The hotel itself is clean, has a friendly staff, reasonably priced, etc. Whenever I visit Chicago, I stay here.

Review 64:The lifts for floors 10 and up were really slow. Like painfully slow. After 11.00pm only one lift to service these floors. And you cant walk 18 floors, as it was in my case. Also no fridge in my room. Not good when you want a beer.

Review 65:The staff were great. Very friendly, obliging and helpful. The price and location of this boutique hotel makes it very good value for money.

Review 66:First room not clean but staff accomodated for their oversite.

Review 67:Great location on River front without expense of a river front hotel. Located near ALL Chicago highlights. Great staff in hotel, restaurant and parking.

Review 68:I had a room on the 29th floor in the tower. I didn't like being on a non-traditional floor. I will ask for a lower floor next time. A good view is not a factor to me, either.

Review 69:Hands down, location.

Review 70:The location can't be beat. Michigan Ave is right in the corner. The staff was friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. I would definitely stay there again!

Review 71:Hard to find off of Michigan Ave with all the tourists. Make sure you validate your parking ticket. No one mentioned Floor 2 having free lattes/coffee. Avoid the restaurant in the hotel, overrated. Food not that great. Try Hard Rock or Morton's around the corner.

Review 72:Location was great.

Review 73:Room is not exactly spacious, but an excellent value for the money, compared to nearby, much more expensive accommodations. Both lobby and rooms could do with a little upgrading.

Review 74:Location is excellent for leisure travelers, next to sightseeing boats and an easy walk to River North, just across any bridge, full of shopping and dining options.

Review 75:As stated we stay here on most trips to Chicago. This year I had book with an upgrade, which was unavailable for the first night. We had to change rooms three times before we got what we had paid extra.

Review 76:My wife and I have been staying for years in this location. The rooms are rather small but livable. The staff ranks high on our list of providers as good as the ones across the street at the "T" Tower.

Review 77:Even though it was mantioned in booking.com, there was no safe boxin the room.

Review 78:Good location, very nice and helpful staff, walking distance to Michiganave. And Chicago river. Short drive by bus to other atractions inChicago, from bus stops located next to the hotel.

Review 79:windows could be improved (triple glazed) to reduce noise. hotel provides earplugs which is nice but better windows would be preferable

Review 80:clean, well equipped and friendly staff

Review 81:Watch out for price fluctuations due to town activities It can jump up a $100 or mor dollars but is still worth it for the location and amenities you receive

Review 82:I've stayed here twice and had a pleasurable experience I will stay here again in the future The staff was excellent and very accommodating to my request and need for help on directions

Review 83:Elevators very slow, one member of staff very rude. Main problem was unable to adjust room temperature. It was 66 for 3 days, just offered an extre blanket.

Review 84:Great location. Very clean. Free wifi and complimentary water good

Review 85:No airconditioning, and no air circulation from central air system. Brought us a fan, but did not affect the entire room. Room was hot and stuffy; we paid for an upgrade to a "one bedroom" suite with two TVs so my daughter could have her own TV to watch her programs...room was actually one room with a support beam in the middle somewhat separating the bed area from the sofa bed area. But room was totally open and although it had two TVs, they were less than 10 feet apart in an open room and couldn't be watched separately without hearing both programs. Bathroom was not clean, kitchen bowls and utensils were not clean, rug and area around sofa bed was not clean. We left early. At about $400 a night (before upgrade), I expected airconditioning. An upgrade "suite" was not really a suite.

Review 86:Location near the river and central Chicago (Michigan Ave and Wacker Ave)

Review 87:We had some minor problems with the swipe card working in the elevator. We had to insert the card several times before it was recognized, so we could select our floor.

Review 88:location and accommodations were top notch.

Review 89:This hotel is within walking distance of many attractions in Chicago. We walked everywhere. Also, the view of the river from our hotel was beautiful. We were right by the River Walk which was enjoyable for walking and just looking. Also, a great restaurant is located in the hotel lobby. Very convenient with good food. We felt very welcome and will be back for another stay at this hotel.

Review 90:Nothing to dislike - great value and location.

Review 91:If you are reading this then you are already interested...look no further...book right now. You will not be able to better the location right on the river front and very central nor the excellent value. But DO ASK for a room on the front side looking at the Trump Tower and river. Free coffee station much appreciated. Thanks. Had to change our booking but staff really helpful.

Review 92:Overbooked me for my first night and did not notify me until I arrived, which was late in the evening. Discouraging after a long day of flying.

Review 93:Friendliness of staff.

Review 94:We booked a 'kitchenette' and got a room with a microwave, that the staff assured us was a 'kitchenette.' Not sure which universe they live/work in, but this was not ok.

Review 95:Great location.

Review 96:We didn't have tea in the room the second day, and the curtain had an obvious stain on it. Otherwise, it was comfortable and nice.

Review 97:Great location, comfortable hotel.

Review 98:I don't really have anything negative to say about this hotel.

Review 99:The location of this hotel is excellent, being right next to the main business district in the centre of Chicago; also excellent shops and convenient for the major attractions, with good public transport links. My room was comfortable and a decent size for a city centre hotel. The few interactions with staff that I had I found them to be very friendly and helpful

Review 100:Hot water does tend to run out but it was probably a full house when I stayed

Review 101:overall, great.Upgraded to a room with a fabulous view, fridge, microwave and SPACE

Review 102:Safety box is a must in the room! :( It would be great if it was a bath tub in the bathroom after an exhausting day. :)

Review 103:Staff! Front desk, Pedro & Jay! doormen, sorry I can't remember their names, 5 star! The view! The location! Every little detail in the room! Kuerig! Complimentary water in the hallways! Complimentary snacks, coffee and tea on the 2nd floor! Safety! Security! Comfort! Friendship! Anything and everthing :)

Review 104:Glasses were left in case in room. House keeping says they were not there. Not possible as I was there for two nights and one suitcase. Went straight home. Cannot believe housekeeping would take. They are only a few months old and valued at $600.

Review 105:Confusing - is it Club Quarters or the River Hotel? Room was tiny Windows didn't open

Review 106:Bathroom was very clean Bedroom was very clean Business meeting rooms Friendly staff

Review 107:The rooms are small, get the next size up when booking if you are like me and want alittle space

Review 108:easy to get to most downtown attractions with a short walk

Review 109:I didn't like the bed we had. I'm not familiar with the typical quality of beds in Chicago hotels however so for all I know it could have still be a nice bed by those standards.

Review 110:I liked that we asked for a room facing the water and we received a room facing the water. The staff were responsive to us. You can't beat that.

Review 111:the staff in the resto seemed confused about how to do room service. However, they were very nice

Review 112:The business centre area was nice to have available. Also fitness center and resto within the property

Review 113:This hotel is situated just across the Trump Tower, has a very good central location, near to CTA trains, 7 minutes walk to Clark Lake station which you can connect to all the lines.

Review 114:Expensive!

Review 115:We usually stay in cheaper hotels but we couldn't find anything decent and cheaper in Chicago during the St. Patrick's day weekend. We were not disappointed! The location couldn't be better, very central and next to where the river dyeing was happening. Endless bars and restaurants around and the famous Michigan avenue is right on the corner. The cherry at the top was the Bella Bacinos restaurant at the Lobby -- arguably the best stuffed pizza of Chicago! But remember to order the stuffed pizza; we ordered the regular pizza one day and were not impressed.

Review 116:I loved EVERYTHING about the hotel. It has a great location, mostly for foreigners since its close to everything. The room was better than i expected. I wanted to take the bed and pillows with me. Perfect cleaning service. Food in restaurant was AMAZING!.

Review 117:This hotel is a great value for money. Location is very central, very close to the Chicago Institute of Arts. Staff is nice and helpful. I will definitely stay there again.

Review 118:Gym was very small and not well ventilated. The water cooler was not working. Only 1 bench in the free weights area.

Review 119:It was within walking distance from shops and great places to eat. The view from the room was amazing. Friendly staff.

Review 120:The location was amazing since it was within walking distance of great sight seeing locations. If you wanted to drive anywhere, it was only about 10-15 minutes away. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 121:It's an older hotel, so limited and slower elevators with not many amenities (pool, continental breakfast, restaurant/bar that didn't stay open very late, etc.)

Review 122:The location was great! The staff was eager to help.

Review 123:Our room was not cleaned up for one of the days, but it wasn't a big concern.

Review 124:Although the room was very small compared to other hotels I've stayed at, it was perfect for us since we were traveling as a couple. It had an amazing view of the Chicago River and pretty good location right in The Loop.

Review 125:room was a little small for 2. pillows too soft/worn out.felt like we were placed in the back closet, a long way to the coffee on the 2nd flr. Ill request a better room next trip,as this was first stay at this hotel and not aware.

Review 126:location,price

Review 127:The WIFI is so poor at day one where I can hardly open "Google"! The other day gets better but it still annoy me that I can not work at night.

Review 128:The room is comfortable, clean and quite.

Review 129:Construction right next to our window. Cleaning staff a little loud in hallways so between the two, there was no way of sleeping in.

Review 130:Liked the location. Staff was great. Clean and up -to -date room.

Review 131:Smallest TV I've ever seen in a hotel room. Shower only which was also very small and hard to even move in. Bed was like a rock.

Review 132:Room was clean and had a nice appearance. Glad we chose the Superior room which was still on the small side - anything smaller would have been too small. Great location although not the easiest to find. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Review 133:Heating system in my room was a bit louder than I would've liked, but not a real problem.

Review 134:Very clean-updated room with view of river. Easy walk to food/drink and sites. A quick walk to train to airport as well.

Review 135:It's not easy to find the hotel the first day when I come. However it is quite near the subway station.

Review 136:The hotel located in the downtown. The traffice is very convenient. The room is not large, but it is clean and comfortable. It's quite near the Michigen Road, only several mintues walking.

Review 137:There were issues with the room furnishings and the hot water. Not all of the outlets worked. Kind of annoying.

Review 138:The location, the staff, and Constantine the bartender.
