Reviews for August Jack Motor Inn
Review 1:The rest of the building was pretty slummy. Windows missing, holes in outside doors big enough for rodents to get through. Cleaners cart, which never got put away, left in the narrow hallway as an obstacle to get around with our luggage.
Review 2:Room was clean. The king size bed was comfortable. We got a good night sleep.
Review 3:First impression when arriving was disappointing as reception door was locked and hotel was in need of exterior painting. Not very appealing from the outside.
Review 4:It was easy to locate and close to main area of town.
Review 5:The impression of the building is a bit rundown, including the lower hallways which needed painting and the stairways louvered windows which were broken...
Review 6:The suite was new, clean and comfortable. We didn't have much interaction with staff so can't comment too much about them.
Review 7:I didn't specify a ground floor unit when reserving and I would next time but when the maintenence man saw me struggling with luggage he helped. In fact everyone, although very busy, were extrodinarily helpful. The room was really comfortable, clean and well equipped. I will stay here again and would recommend it. Finding a treasure like this makes traveling avoidable for our family. We were unable to take advantage of the 3 parks right there because of weather but what a great family location. Oh and the rooms are sound proof as well, good for us and our neighbours. Thanks!
Review 8:Had no air con and the weather was very hot. more then half the lights wouldn't work along with some of the power points. bathroom door wouldn't shut and bath surface was damaged and dirty.
Review 9:it was cheap
Review 10:The room was clean and well furnished especially in comparison with an accommodation in Vancouver at the same category. I can magine I would spend there more than one night.
Review 11:Fridge and wi- fi did not work at all. Room was old and musty no air con either. Chairs were ripped and stained. The price was out of bounds for what the room was, ending holiday weekend. Book elsewhere!
Review 12:Beautiful view, really nice town, obvious owner is working hard to upgrade an old hotel, value in affordability and an incrediable location. Looking forward to staying there again. Chef D's restaurant WOW! True nature of a Canadian lumber town.
Review 13:Wifi kept dropping out. Laundry expensive at $4 per load
Review 14:In the centre of Squamish, 2 min walk to restaurants etc and right by The Chief. Incredible views of The Chief. Kitchenette in room with hobs/full fridge freezer
Review 15:The owners were hospitable and biker friendly. They allowed us to leave our hear I'm the ro until Kate afternoon and use their facilities to clean our mountain bikes.
Review 16:The carpet and furniture fabric could do with a major cleaning. The bed was fine however because there was a heat wave with temps in the 30's, we slept on top the bedding.
Review 17:There was no air conditioning in our room above the car port. The room was so very hot when we arrived and the next morning I asked for a fan. The owners outdid themselves by providing a portable air conditioner for the remainder of our stay. That made all the difference to us!
Review 18:The first room that I was assigned was a dump that wouldn't support their wifi signal . The second room was cleaner and nicer but wifi still flaked out repeatedley when you could connect .
Review 19:Wifi and hair dryer didn't work. There was no ventilation in the room other than opening the window, which was directly over the front entrance
Review 20:The location was good
Review 21:Room was not clean, including patched up walls, kitchen that was not cleaned, dirty carpet, blocked toilet on arrival, WiFi works only in some of the rooms. For slightly more money, stay at Best Western, Sandman, or Sea-to-Sky. The motel owners response to our concerns was that they would give us a discount on our next stay!!!! Will not happen.
Review 22:Pet-friendly Location
Review 23:Stone-cold room upon arrival. Seal between the glass of the large window had failed, so condensation made it impossible to see the view. Even if the windows were clear, the view looking straight outside was of the parking lot. Wifi mostly didn't work. Carpets were old and stained. TV only had one channel.
Review 24:Decor just a little tired; noise from trucks outside in early hours
Review 25:Welcome at deal; parking ease; proximity to good eating places; just off main highway from Vancouver to Whistler; close to gondola and Shannon Falls; very good value for money; spacious room and comfortable beds.
Review 26:Bathroom not as clean as I would have liked, and the beds softer than my personal preference. But had a good night sleep and the curtains kept out the morning light.
Review 27:I loved the location. A view of the Chief and the Squamish Farmer's market right across the street on Sat morning was the best Farmer's market I've been to in awhile. No formality, casual check in is a breeze.
Review 28:we stayed here 15 years ago and were quite satisfied. it has since become quite run down. while expecting two double beds were offered one. we were given the option of a better room for more money even before we were shown the room they reserved for us. laundry facilities are a joke. management had to continually come and get the machines to work. at the front desk we heard complaints about how little we had to pay and how much your booking fees were.
Review 29:location
Review 30:no screens in the window. back door open and people smoked out there and left butts outside.
Review 31:I liked that they had a kitchenette. The manager/owner was pleasant.
Review 32:There was an unfortunate odor coming from the sink and the carpets were old and stained.
Review 33:August Jack Motor Inn isn't the fanciest place in town, but it's good bang for your buck. The room was clean, the Internet was reliable, and the kitchen was quite convenient.
Review 34:Getting used to the noisy air conditioner took some time, but the second night was not an issue.
Review 35:The beds were very comfortable. The updated bathroom was clean. the shower was great. Excellent service, very helpful management, great cleaning .
Review 36:was very outdated, not clean and noisy. Pillows were well used as were the towels which were small and very thin. The carpets were very dirty and furniture very old and worn out.
Review 37:proximity to town and resources
Review 38:No air conditioning. Had to sleep with an open window and kept getting disturbed by the cars paying by in the road next to the motel. The room was small. Would not recommend for 4 people. The front door of the room had to be forced open.
Review 39:The staff was polite and professional. Cheapest motel in the area.
Review 40:Location,air condition, accommodation for an extra person, and pet, moreover the customer service ,promptly to meet our request, their courtesy, the most that impress my family the VIEW from our window room. thank you
Review 41:No air conditioning. Rooms are run down, the outside of the building needs to be painted. The rooms that allow pets are dingy and smell.
Review 42:good location, right down town.
Review 43:The communal corridors are very old and grubby and in need of a facelift, but the room was fine so don't be put off.
Review 44:The location is great for a travelling thru tourist. The view from the top window was great. A massive boulder 2nd only to the rock of Gibraltor. The motel has parks on 4 sides so good to for sitting outside. Then too was clean, tidy and comfortable.
Review 45:I wouldn't want to stay here in the heat of the summer because there isn't any air conditioning. We booked our room in advance but arrived to find that the previous people decided to stay another night so we didn't get a kitchenette the first night. Apologies were given (no breaks though) but we were OK with moving the second night. I'm sure some people would be put off by that. Really the people who decided to stay last minute should have been told the room was booked and they should have been moved.
Review 46:The location was very nice. We could walk to all the amenities in town that we would want. My husband loved its nearness to the local brewery which had great beer and a wonderful menu. The view from anywhere in town is awesome including our room.
Review 47:Rooms a bit dated and tired looking. No breakfast included.
Review 48:Clean room with kitchen facility. Friendly staff. Very quiet at night. Inexpensive. Good value for money.

Review 63:The rooms are big and the location is quite.
Review 64:n/a
Review 65:the location and availability of staff when you need them and parking stall.
Review 66:Nice pub down the street
Review 67:Even after free breakfast was over they still took it out for us
Review 68:wifi not useful
Review 69:spacious rooms, location
Review 70:My room was on ground level facing the street. A bit of late night noise from passersby.
Review 71:They had everything in the room. All kinds of extras.
Review 72:location. They accept pets
Review 73:no plates or cutlery
Review 74:the pillows and the park for my granson
Review 75:-Rude and unaccomodating staff -Kitchen equipment was sparse -People smoke in rooms and management doesn't care

Review 79:carpets all stained, hallway carpets filled with litter and cig butts, inside drawers had not been washer,
Review 80:Quiet
Review 81:Unwanted entry by management to our room, apparently unaware of occupancy.
Review 82:It was clean, quiet, close to everything. Great value for the price.
Review 83:The view on The Chief from the room is quite amazing.
Review 84:cheap, clean, no trouble at all, comfortable large bed and room
Review 85:No air conditioning
Review 86:Location
Review 87:Spacious, clean, quiet... loved the kitchen facilities... great two-day get-away!
Review 88:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Located on the Main Street in town
Review 89:hallway carpet worn
Review 90:air conditioned,
Review 91:No ac. Older facility needs upgrade.
Review 92:Quieter end of the main town street and perfect location for a good night sleep in between the daytime activities
Review 93:Clean, large, great location... All u need
Review 94:unfriendly staff (Woman) old furniture atmosphere
Review 95:size of room
Review 96:Desk staff
Review 97:It seemed a bit run down. Could do with an update.
Review 98:Right in the middle of town
Review 99:Television with just one channel.
Review 100:Location.
Review 101:Needs to be up dated - rock hard pillows - out of date TV - door very hard to open & close - no AC on room
Review 102:Quit location - Friendly staff
Review 103:The pillows were flat and uncomfortable.
Review 104:The room was ground level with a sliding door that opened onto a nice grassy park. Was perfect for our dogs (which were welcomed with no extra charge!).
Review 105:The kitchen dinnette was very useful. The view of the huge rock face was fabulous. It was conviently located to convenient stores. Although we were situated on the street front we had privacy curtains which enabled us to keep the view.
Review 106:I booked online and was told, either on the booking site or the confirmation email, that the price quoted would be all that I would pay. I was charged tax on top of it.
Review 107:The price
Review 108:Everything a bit worn, and showing age, apart from bathrooms and beds. Wifi does not reach to all rooms with useful signal strength. Note: it does not advertise having air conditioning, and it doesn't. Fans are available in most rooms.
Review 109:The August Jack struck me as a motel that was recently in decline, but has a new owner who is working to improve it. For instance, bathrooms are entirely clean and up to date, while some furnishings are worn. If the owner completes the transformation, the motel could become a good alternative to more-expensive chain motels.
Review 110:The views are among the best in the world, (yes, we have traveled Europe, Baltic, etc.). Stunning views of the Chief on one side, mountains on the other. Staff are knowledgable, professional, very helpful and provide great accommodations. Everything was updated, clean, and we had a full Studio kitchen with everything we needed to prepare full meals if we wanted. We added 3 days to our stay, and then 3 more. We have already planned to come back in the fall to see this beautiful view with its fall foliage. Dr. Pat Stroh
Review 111:shower should have speed setting :), getting outer walls renovated will make your place more attractive from outside, stairs and hallway can also be decorated a bit to create a welcoming and alive environment.
Review 112:mountain view, peaceful location, hair dryer, nice coffee brand, free parking, market at walking distance and excellent service
Review 113:Well I didnt like the how the windows are all broken .... its just scary for me.
Review 114:Compare to hotel squamish. .. August jack is way way better Great and bigger rooms. Bathroom is very clean and organize. Best room of this hotel will be 206 and 207. Been to these both places. :)
Review 115:We were shown 2 rooms - neither of which had been cleaned - wouldn'tyou check before you took customers to the first room with dirty beds, dishes, towels on the floor etc? Then even once we were moved to aprepared room - it was dingy and had black mold over the tub in thebathroom. The owner said they had already remodeled all the rooms - ohboy did they miss doing some stuff. Would definitely not stay thereagain - nor would I recommend it . It cost the same as what we paid atthe Blackcomb resort in Whistler - unbelievable.
Review 116:The location - right in the heart of Squamish so we could walk to allthe restaurants etc. Was located close to The Chief - so the hikingwas great.
Review 117:Stairways were dirty and needed to be vacuumed. There was mold on the bathroom ceiling, but it wasn't a problem, and it was a new tub surround.
Review 118:The location and price were excellent. Very friendly and welcoming staff member.
Review 119:Rooms had not been cleaned properly. We moved to three rooms beforefinding one that had been cleaned completely. Was not worth the money.
