Reviews for Calistoga Spa Hot Springs
Review 1:Pool was closed for most of my stay. This is my third stay here and the second time the pool was closed.
Review 2:Friendly staff, clean facilities, great lap pool, wading pool and community size jacuzzi. Kitchenette is added plus along with a decent work out gymn
Review 3:Terrible beds-hard lumpy mattresses-Wont give late check out unless you call at 7:30 in the morning the day you are leaving and then still won't give it often.
Review 4:Love the large warm pools-the location to shops and restaurants-The rooms are fairly nice too.
Review 5:I liked the option of using the facilities both on the day we arrived and the day we left, with only a small extra charge. I liked the temperature of the water, the availability of towels and lockers and the convenience and ease of all of it.
Review 6:Bed was too firm for side-sleepers, otherwise stay was great.
Review 7:Easy walking to everything in downtown Calistoga, great pools, good massage services, and pleasant staff! The whole atmosphere was friendly and relaxing. King room was plenty big and the electric fireplaces add a cozy feel. The hot pools felt even better for the rain:-)
Review 8:We stayed on 1st floor. Upstairs room had young child(ren) and running / jumping on hallway and in room making noise. 1st floor rooms have easy accesses to pools / picnic tables / BBQ but 2nd floor rooms are probably quieter. It would be nicer if there are more towel bar(s) in bathroom and offer spa robes in each room.
Review 9:Mineral pools and hot spring tub. Fire pit is nice. 2-queen room with kitchenette is very functional with shower (no tub) in bathroom with enough counter landing.
Review 10:The bed in our room (King suite, 204, overlooking the pools) was as hard as a rock. It made it hard to sleep and we both awoke with sore backs both days. We could not stay more than 2 nights because of the bed, even if we wanted to. That will be an issue if we ever return. Also, we all had massages, and my deep tissue massage was, I'm afraid, more like a deep tissue assault (and I usually love a good deep tissue massage and have high tolerance for pain). 4 days later, I'm still hurting. The staff member at the front desk was not very helpful at check in. She seemed aggravated that I could not figure out how to get to our room (at the back of an inner courtyard) by glancing at a map. She appeared to be telling us to walk around the outside of the hotel, and when I asked if we had to go out to the street, she said yes. That was a mistake, and we were wandering around the neighborhood with our suitcases on the trolley!
Review 11:The room was lovely - very new and stylish. Spacious and really updated. We loved it. The spa amenities were good, but the facility felt old--very 80s and dark! The mineral pools were perfect and the pool area was beautiful and comfortable.
Review 12:The staff here are consistent in terms of all being terrible at providing good guest service. No please, thank you, nothing. They truly are not interested in their jobs and it is obvious! You are not made to feel as a guest here. Pool water needs to be cleaned more often. Scum can be seen floating on top of water.
Review 13:The room was comfortable.
Review 14:The bed was terribly uncomfortable and for the recent rate increase its pretty much the same experience just $100 more a night
Review 15:The pools and location are excellent
Review 16:Front desk staff seems stressed. Be careful when reviewing your bill at check out. I have found mistakes in billing on more than one occasion, that were not in my favor. Holidays: the pools are over run with small children, not supportive of a spa setting, not intolerable, however. Heavy truck traffic starting at 4am, then all day.
Review 17:Pools/mineral water; Mountain views; Spa staff; Lifegaurds; Housekeeping; Central location; Rooms; Layout of Hotel/pools. Value for $.
Review 18:Front desk didn't offer pool towels, there were no robes in the room.
Review 19:Maids helpful, nice pillows (thank god), beautiful facility, very clean, peaceful environment
Review 20:The room was either too dark or too bright. The lighting needs improvement. Dimmer switches on the overhead recessed lighting would solve the problem.
Review 21:Quiet.
Review 22:Minor problem with mattress being too firm for me.
Review 23:We love the pools, especially the 100 degree one. Rooms are clean and updated. Shops and restaurants are a very short walk.
Review 24:Best value for the Calistoga spa scene - nicely equipped rooms w/enough kitchen facilities including outdoor BBQ and picnic area, comfortable rooms, not opulent but totally adequate.
Review 25:We discovered we had been assigned a queen bed room although we reserved a king bed room, this was promptly corrected but we had to lug our suitcases all over the place. Mud bath not worth the USD 60-.
Review 26:Clean, modern room. We got 20% discount without asking.
Review 27:Lighting in room very poor There are small wall lamps above beds. impossible to read. Bathroom & kitchenette had good lighting
Review 28:Location & cleanliness. Staff very friendly.
Review 29:Extremely noisy. Despite asking for a quiet room, we were stuck in a room with a connecting door that provided no soundproofing whatsoever. We could easily hear the neighbors talking . . . not to mention their baby screaming.
Review 30:Excellent pools. Loved the warm but not hot lap pool, which was never crowded while we were there. Room was renovated and clean. The tiny kitchenette came in handy for storing and serving deli food (although with no usable counter space, it would be hard to imagine actually cooking there).
Review 31:Room was on the corner of the property, where an oak tree was located, acorns kept falling on the roof. not a good room in fall.
Review 32:Beautiful room. 2 queens . very big. staff was very accommodating.
Review 33:The air conditioning fan was difficult for us to adjust. However, we are an older couple and do not really understand all of those icons. One of the housekeepers did help us .
Review 34:The rooms were very nice. Since we had been there last, they improved the window slates. Also, they provided plastic wine glasses. Everything was clean and neat in the kitchen.
Review 35:Wish there was more comfortable seating in room, and better water pressure in showers.
Review 36:The staff was very friendly and helpful. A surprisingly quiet location tucked right behind the main st!
Review 37:I have been coming to the Spa for 30 years. It used to be simple and casual. It is now upscale and overpriced. I wish that long time customers be rewarded by cheaper rooms.
Review 38:nothing special
Review 39:We really loved pool and SPA facilities; also all the stuff was nice and cheerful; Room was perfect with all cooking facilities; also have chance to bbq on the garden; Also hotel is so close to supermarket etc. where you can easily access nice quality vines of Napa It's a really nice hotel to stay; i only wish if we had chance to say longer;
Review 40:I have been to Calistoga spa for about 20 years maybe longer. This time I had the worst massage ever. It was very disappointing and I complained at the front desk I don't know if they told the manager.
Review 41:I like the rooms they were very nice and clean. The staff is pretty nice and accommodating
Review 42:Noisy... Too many kids so we avoid going in during prime time. However, that cut short our time to enjoy the area to the fullest. Was going to utilize that "noisy" time away from the pool and get some massages at the spa in the hotel, but the staff was not friendly or accommodating with spa reservation. Late check out policy is unreasonable and impossible considering check-in time is pretty late in the day. For this reason, if my next trip is under a short duration of stay and no massage sessions reserved, I will go for other options nearby. Managerial staff seems friendly and helpful but not the other front desk staff. Perhaps they are underpaid or something. I don't know.
Review 43:Like the pool area. Plenty of options and spot to lounge.
Review 44:The only issue we had was that we had an adjoining room to another family that were with children and we could hear everything.
Review 45:Great location for a quick stop off for us in Calistoga. Within walking distance of the Main Street. Lovely pool area that wasn't over crowded, perfect quiet spot for some R&R during our road trip.
Review 46:The lobby area needs an update as does the spa area.
Review 47:The 3 pools were great, and everything was well maintained and clean. The room itself was nice and clean as well.
Review 48:Front desk staff was not helful, friendly or accomodating. Same goes for the pool "police" (security) who strictly enforced pool hours, pushing us out at exactly 10pm.
Review 49:Loved the pool and beautiful updated rooms with full kitchens.
Review 50:Dirty Pool, problems while checking out, announced price of booking com was different from what I was asked for, receipt was in transparent, very noisy because of construction works outside
Review 51:Close to town,renovated rooms
Review 52:Very dirty-hair a lot, left on the dining table. Paid 300+ for one night, pool very crowded because outside people were allowed for a minimum fee.Not mentioned on the hotel web. Could not do couple mud bath, despite the fact it was specified on the hotel web Refused to get robes, many guests had robes. Very unfriendly to us because of our "foreign accent", although in the US for 45 years. Shocked about this discrimination.
Review 53:Nothing!
Review 54:When we arrived I felt like turning around and leaving and may have done so if I had not already paid the deposit. The staff member that greeted me was very unfriendly. She was not welcoming. I was given a paper to sign that was mostly about how I would be charged extra if I took anything from the room or if I did not leave on time.
Review 55:This location has a beautiful location with wonderful pool area. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was easy to walk to restaurants in Calistoga. It was a short drive to local wineries and attractions.
Review 56:The bed I stayed in was slightly broken and listed from side to side, however, the others' bed was nice!
Review 57:The convenient location, mixed with the lovely amenities and wonderful pools; we can't wait to come back!
Review 58:No help from front service desk, I would not recommend this as a getaway destination for the price
Review 59:The Hot springs but I can find that at any hotel in town
Review 60:They rent the pool for the day and if you go out to breakfast when you come back there is no place for you to sit. Also wanted to get a massage but I like them at nigh and they stop giving them at 4 pm
Review 61:The rooms were great
Review 62:I started with a massage and Leo was fabulous! I then spent the day in the mineral pool which are perfect and the sunshine in Napa was fantastic. When I checked into my room I was overwhelmed as I actually wasn't expecting much. Ahhhhh those pillows! A full kitchen! A dual headed shower. Quiet and slept well. Mud bath and more sun, pools the next day. Completely happy!
Review 63:Would have appreciated non plastic cups Towels could have been easier to get and exchange if they were in the pool area and not at the registration desk. Clean up occurred at around 4 30 when we were getting back from the pool
Review 64:Very easy access to pools.
Review 65:The beds are small which made them not the best for 2 people.
Review 66:The pools are great, clean, and very enjoyable. We had massages and one of us had a mud bath. Great staff.
Review 67:Room was newly redecorated & bathroom had nice spa style walk-in shower. Room faced the pool area which was very convenient. The heated pools and hot tubs are a real plus for the property. My daughter & I also had a 1st mud baths ever which were an experience to remember! Staff was very pleasant/attentive.
Review 68:Kids/families migrated to and remained in lap pool even when they saw you were swimming laps..so lap swimmers gave up. Day use person playing loud music in pool area for their party (corny Fleetwood Mack music made it worse). Hard to relax, so I and others left pool. Pool staff said nothing. Should not be left to hotel guests to say something about both loud music (on speakers) & lap pool areas. Very disappointing.
Review 69:Water in pool was clean, front staff friendly, massage staff skilled, close to good meal options, and walking.
Review 70:There was an early morning garbage truck that made some noise.
Review 71:I have been here a number of times. I come back because there are 3 pools with 3 temps. 4 if you count the wading pool. It's like heaven relaxing in just the right pool.
Review 72:Pools and jacuzzi were great. Staff not very warm and welcoming at front desk, at all. Carmen and Bailey were fabulous for our mud bath. Rooms very clean. Just our welcome to the hotel and lack of information was a big turn off.
Review 73:The website photos were deceiving. To be clear, this is a very nicely updated motel, but definitely has the motel feel. Walls are thin, rooms open to the outside, there is no restaurant/bar on site and the spa was not really spa-like at all, as it was furnished with plastic chairs. This place is probably great for families with young kids (as was most of the clientele there) but I was there for an adult milestone birthday celebration and wanted a luxury hotel and spa experience and this was certainly not that. Even though it was priced as such.
Review 74:The pools and hot tubs are great. Location is excellent, right off the main street of Calistoga and within walking distance to all the restaurants and bars.
Review 75:We absolutely loved it here! We stayed in Rm 106. It was clean, open, newly renovated (still smelled new). Very comfortable. Walking distance to everything needed. We will return and have shared this place with our friends.
Review 76:The parking needs to be applicable for the number of rooms........
Review 77:The room was perfectly made to our liking and the view of the pools were great........The staff was excellent, always smiling, your training must be excellent..........
Review 78:Check out is 11. Walked around town and I had asked if I needed to come to desk to check out. Was told yes. Went to room at 10:30 for a final go thru and I was told not to go in it had already been cleaned.
Review 79:The room was just fine, but not luxurious. There was nothing really wrong with it, but it wasn't sumptuous.
Review 80:The whole reason to stay at this hotel is the pool. The water was fantastic and the pool area was very pretty. There is a deck over looking the pool with views of the hills which was divine.
Review 81:The people in the room above us were very noisy. The hotel gave us a discount because of their disturbance
Review 82:I like the pools, location, the gym and the kitchenette. They allow you to bring in food and drink.
Review 83:No elevator for luggage to second floor. Would not accommodate a one hr late check out, room had urine on bathroom wall, bed was not that comfortable, took a long time to get help out with the luggage both checking in and leaving. Have to drag wet pool towels to the offic, they will not pick up with housecleaning in your room. Both times staying was overcharged for the room and staff said we will credit you back, but why over charged on my credit card in the first place? Need badly, food by the pool and drinks. Lacking sandwichs, burgers, lemonade etc by the pool. Did not use spa treatments because last time my daughter said facility part was so outdated not even a robe to wear. She had to walk around in a big sheet.
Review 84:The pools, nice updated room.
Review 85:pools closed at 11 pm vs 12 pm elsewhere. Staff was abrupt at pool closure time. Checkin was like pulling teeth to get info and there was no heads up about pool hours
Review 86:pools are nice, price on booking.com was about $50 less than elsewhere.
Review 87:We brought our own cereal for breakfast which is a great option, but would have loved a simple complimentary breakfast especially one with one of those waffle machines you see sometimes at budget hotels.
Review 88:Pools for all ages. My four year old and I even enjoyed the warm pool in the cold February rain. Would be nice to bbq with friends on the poolside patio grills in warmer weather.
Review 89:My cousin and I enjoyed celebrating our birthdays here at Calistoga Hot Springs Spa! Everything was all together in one facility and we got such a value for our money. Nice restaurants and bars are within walking range. Beautiful stay! We will be back for more!!
Review 90:The only thing missing is some soft music around the pool areas furthering your relaxing day/dsys.
Review 91:the pools are wonderful the staff fantastic and the change of the spa facilities is awesome
Review 92:They couldn't honor a request for a second floor room. Staff could have been a bit friendlier. Although there were families in attendance, some guests were loud and rowdy, drinking too much around the spa.
Review 93:The Roman Spa is hot and clean, and the lap pool is well maintained. Room was clean, wi fi was lightning fast. Housekeeping very efficient and friendly. Walk to dinner - great location, right off the main drag.
Review 94:staff that helped with spa treatment made my visit very unhappy. Mineral bath was to hot, could not take a steam bath That was included, when I put in a room for my blanket rap they put me next to the where the staff was laughing and kept opening the door, impossible to relax, by the time for my massage I ready to walk out
Review 95:Lighting: room was dim Bathroom was attractive, but could have more hooks and features for pool users
Review 96:kitchen facilities, access to pools, fitness center, staff
Review 97:I felt the staff could have been more informative and helpful. They did not give me a robe at first until I asked. They could have encouraged me to do some spa treatments but did not even ask if I was interested in scheduling those.
Review 98:I really love water so I enjoyed the pools and mainly selected this hotel because of the pools and location to the downtown.
Review 99:The lap pool could have had warmer water.
Review 100:Friendly staff, great landscaping, hot spa water as promised. Bed linens wer of top quality. Shuttered windows gave a tropical feeling. Close proximity to downtown restaurants and best Italian food restaurant we ever ate at. Restaurants let us sit and enjoy our meals without feeling rushed.
Review 101:we stayed 3 nights & knew before we arrived that spa services weren't available, which was ok. But, upon arrival the lap pool was also closed & since we are swimmers, it was a real bummer. we stayed in the back (#110) facing Washington so trucks & cars made noise. also our neighbors were loud at times (not unusual I guess). 2nd day, the maid didn't clean dishes in the sink or empty coffee maker (we figured they skipped the kitchen).
Review 102:location is a block from stores, great coffee at Yo El Rey organic cafe, fantastic food and vibe at Bosko's trattoria: A+. soaking pools: A+ (104 and 100 deg). room was remodeled nicely. bed was really comfortable w/ tons of pillows. Front desk gals were fine: A. since we are regulars, we noticed it was quiet this past weekend w/ fewer kids than usual.
Review 103:Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, very nice spa and pool, good workout area, had trouble with the WiFi but nothing major at all. Awesome location right off of the main strip. Great experience! We will definitely be back.
Review 104:Really, I didn't find anything to not like. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids as the pools provided great entertainment for them and relaxation for us!
Review 105:Clean, modern rooms. Mini-kitchen was a surprise (didn't realize available), especially since basics were provided, like dishes, burners, cleaning supplies...beyond just a micro and minifridge. Pools were big and relaxing, though couples might be dismayed at the number of kids roaming about. There is an adult only deck and the hot-hot tub is adult only, which was nice when I wanted to get away from my kids :)
Review 106:Staff was polite, but very stiff. Late checkout request was flat out refused (not all staff members are familiar with Sunday NO late checkout policy). Pool towels should be in suite or at the pool...not in the office. Expect better (friendlier service), given the rate.
Review 107:Pool facilities were very nice. Room was spacious and clean. Kitchenette would be great for a longer stay.
Review 108:Can't think of anything.
Review 109:Front desk staff was responsive to our WiFi problem and TV monitor malfunctioning with due speed. Room was very clean all over. New shower with a seat (?) was neat
Review 110:This was a perfect location to park your car and walk to town for breakfast, lunch, dinner, shopping, tasting, spa. Calistoga also offers a free shuttle anywhere in town including any winery. The hot spring pools on site were awesome. However, if you are looking for fancy, a restaurant on site or room service you won't get it here. Honestly, you really dint need it with the proximity to town or the kitchen.
Review 111:An electric jug in the kitchen might be a good addition.
Review 112:I was afraid that the hotel might be a little on the old side. No such thing, the room was large, modern and comfortable for all our needs. The little kitchenette we did not use a lot but it was there if we needed it. A special word about the gardens, absolutely beautiful. The hot pools were just what we neeeded.Great place.
Review 113:The motel room. It was a Motel 6 with several pools. For the money, the rooms were extremely cheap (but clean). There was, for example, no light fixture over the entry light - only a bare light bulb
Review 114:The spas, pools & exercise room.
Review 115:Nicely renovated room surrounded by lovely hot pools and grounds. Staff was great and we were not bothered with up-selling. Calm and relaxing! Right in town and easily walkable. The town of Calistoga itself was charming as usual. Will return! Only a slight negative was the kitchenette was not stocked well. We made it work, but expected better.
Review 116:The water pressure in the shower was very disappointing. The spa area of the resort was very dark and difficult to navigate.
Review 117:Calistoga is a lovely town. This resort was just one block off the main street and this made it very easy to walk and enjoy the many interesting shops in town. Our bedroom was spacious as was the bathroom. The window coverings were new and let in light and preserved privacy as well. I liked the spaciousness of the shower.
Review 118:We had booked 2 rooms months in advance with king beds but when we arrived we did not receive the rooms we had booked. Some of the rooms have been refurbished but ours had not. There is no elevator to access the 2nd floor but not sure you can book a 1st floor room and really get that upon arrival. The hotel staff treated us as if the room issue was our mistake until they researched the reservation and found it was their error. They could not provide any explanation for their incorrect booking. When we requested a 30 minute later checkout since we had massages that morning and they said no but we thought that was the least they could do after their error in the room. They did allow after 2 requests for a later checkout. I don't know if our issues were from using Booking.com services vs booking direct.
Review 119:The hot springs were enjoyable and we took in a mud bath. This was very relaxing!
Review 120:The room was very old...My shower head was all rusty.. The floor was somewhat dirty... Needs a make-over....
Review 121:The Pool/Hot tubs were very nice. The bed was not bad.
Review 122:The mineral pool in the middle was highly chlorinated when we first got there on Monday night. My friend had a bad skin reaction to it. Would you consider another way of sanitizing the pools? Perhaps salt? It's much nicer!
Review 123:The mud bath was my favorite part of your spa experience. The foot reflexology was also very good. My massage was good also. Thanks to those practitioners!
Review 124:Heating did not warm the room enough. we were always cold. Not a full door in the shower which caused it to be cold. Mildew on the shower walls. lighting was very dim. Microwave up to high on the wall. The "gym" had very old equipment, unable to use. Pocket doors in bathroom would make a loud pounding sound every time the door was opened, very loud, could hear the other units around us making the same noise.
Review 125:The mineral pools were really nice. The grounds had BBQ's and tables & chairs next to each one. There was a huge fire pit, in the evening folks would gather around it.
Review 126:Not much information available in the office for places to go and things to see.
Review 127:Central to interesting drives and winery's. Great weather. Nice facilities.
Review 128:We had a relaxing soak in the pool, and a good sleep in the comfortable bed and DARK room with great shades! With the great location it was an easy walk to restaurants and shopping. We brought our own bikes, but rental was close by, and had a marvelous time cycling around town.
Review 129:Our room had bright lights outside that stayed on all night.
Review 130:Hot pools open late until 11:00pm. Large pools with 3 different temperatures to choose from. Conveniently located to downtown walking distance to restaurants. Very clean. Staff was very nice.
Review 131:The wifi didn't work at all
Review 132:The pools are clean and hot. The rooms are updated nicely and the beds are comfortable. It was a great place to spend our anniversary weekend.
Review 133:We stayed in a newly renovated room and it was very nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed and pillows. The pools and surrounding area was clean, comfortable and well maintained. The fire pit was a really nice touch even though we didn't get a chance to sit by it.
Review 134:Just to improve wi-fi that's all.
Review 135:The price of the hotel very fair And that we paid for the spa also My therapist and all the staff in the spa where very nice.
