Reviews for Holiday Haus
Review 1:Close to bus station that takes you quickly to the lift Brewing company across the street Cozy rooms with fully equipped kitchen and friendly staff Would definitely come back here
Review 2:Shower was REALLY small.
Review 3:Staff is friendly. Facilities are clean and are a great value. Rooms have mini kitchens that are great for short trips. Close enough to Village that you can leave truck parked for the entire trip.
Review 4:the only thing I didn't like was that the shower head sprayed in a funny direction. it had enough water pressure to take a nice shower, but the water stream was a little weird. it probably could be fixed with a couple twists of a wrench.
Review 5:clean, comfortable, great value, excellent location, walking distance from village and slopes. this is not a luxury resort, so I can't give it five stars. But it is an excellent budget resort.
Review 6:The shower had a very slow drain - imagine a 1 year old, shin deep in icky water. Not cool! We got back to our casita around 5:30 pm one day and noticed we had trash that had to be thrown out. The front desk asked that we bring it to her since she has a trash receptacle nearby she could throw it in. Not something that gives this place a horrible score, but quite an inconvenience when you, as a guest, have to go out in a winter storm to throw out trash. I'm guessing there weren't many employees at that time.
Review 7:The location of this hotel is perfect. Families with small children will appreciate that there are 3 snow play areas nearby, all within about 5-10 minute drive. Having a kitchen during a winter snow storm is definitely a must. The casita has all the necessities and the grocery store is about a 5 minute drive. One day, we noticed one of the workers, (maybe a manager) helping a guest with his car that was stuck in the ice/snow. He even came back with chains. A+ Cleanliness of the casitas is still pretty good since it seems to be a newer unit but the kitchen cabinets are starting to chip. No bed bugs. Carpet is still decent. The shower was our only problem. Light sleepers beware: in case you are thinking of sharing the casita or sleeping in the living area, the heater can be pretty loud.
Review 8:Only semi shortcoming was weak Wifi. Dropped out more than once. But we survived.
Review 9:Great location. I walked to the Village easily and jumped on the gondola heading to Canyon Lodge for a fun ski day. Rooms aren't the fanciest but very clean and comfortable. Parking is free. I skied while my sister relaxed with the fireplace and TV while enjoying the view of snow falling just outside. Sweet!
Review 10:Loved the layout of the room, ours had a kitchen which was incredibly convenient. The continental breakfast in the mornings was perfect for a quick bite. I forget the man at the front desks name, but he was always so kind and helpful. Can't wait to return!!!
Review 11:We stayed in the one bedroom suite. It was perfect secluded cabin like feel Able to park right in front of the suite which was perfect when it was snowing. The walk to the village was literally 5 minutes away. Says its a motel but far from it in my opinion!
Review 12:Hot tub gets cooled down from cold air after a couple of hours after being opened . Breakfast needs more protein options.
Review 13:Staff very friendly and helpful
Review 14:Terrible internet connection, had codes for two types and consistently drops out with poor speed. Gas oven consistently drops out when roasting causing you to relight it.
Review 15:Newly renovated to a good standard all round, plenty of parking, comfy beds, gas thermostat room heater as opose to hot air heater so no dryness during the night. Clean, nice cabin feel.
Review 16:You can hear your neighbors walking or moving in their rooms.
Review 17:The staff at the motel were very helpful, the room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The fireplace warmed up the room nicely during our winter stay. Being situated close to the ski resort is practical and adjacent to a golf course makes it feel as if you are in the wilderness. Great place.
Review 18:I read poor reviews about the continental breakfast; I'm not sure what people are expecting of a value motel, but it was just fine. Bagels & cream cheese, cereal, fruit, etc. Yes, there was no omelette station, but if you were expecting one, you're in the wrong place!
Review 19:Our room ("casita") was somewhat worn and poorly thought out. From bathroom shelves that can't hold a shaving kit, to mismatched light bulb types/colors in every lamp, to different heating systems in every room. Nice to have a small kitchen, but it had a tiny stove and cheap utensils. The shower head in the box stall was in a fixed position that shot over the top of my girlfriend's head (she's 5'3"). They obviously cut corners wherever possible. We had to leave early due to a ski injury, but they wouldn't even entertain the thought of a partial refund or voucher. BTW: our Booking.com reservation meant continental breakfast was not included (not a big deal, trust me). All the hallmarks of a poorly run Mom and Pop.
Review 20:Very close to the Village and shuttle stop. Found parking right in front of room. Flat panel TVs in two rooms.
Review 21:Beds were very firm. Wall heater in bedroom was out of service. had a small electric one in the room to use instead...was on the chilly side being that we visited during a heavy snow storm.
Review 22:Great location, cabin was clean and roomy. good heat and plenty of pillows, blankets to keep us warm. Easy walk to the village. Excellent suggestions for dining by staff. Will come again!
Review 23:Cottage is super dated. Kitchen almost unusable. Only two burners worked, pots/pans were old and scraped and a few I had to scrub clean to use. Counter is old and peeling. Everything is just old and very used looking. Sofa looked new but rest of furniture was old. Wall heater unit in bedroom out of order. After two days of using a super loud space heater the owner was nice enough to lend us his personal office space heater which allowed us to finally sleep. But wall heater unit should be working. The property says it has been "updated", so next time I will try and stay in a unit that has been updated. Overall, I would stay at property again because of location.....it would be nice if place/cottage was a little more updated!!! It is cozy and has so much potential!!
Review 24:Proximity to shopping, restaurants, slopes, etc
Review 25:Very basic accommodations.
Review 26:It was a good location with a nice staff. There was a continental breakfast. Nothing fancy but still nice to have some coffee and bagels.
Review 27:Wish it were a bit less expensive because it was convenient but no luxury
Review 28:Close to the village, friendly staff, big comfortable room with nice bed and good heating
Review 29:As always we didn't kkow what to expect from a place booked on line that we'd never been to. The minute we walked in we were welcomed by the guy at the front desk, unfortunately we didn't get his name but he was really friendly. The room was very clean and has everything we needed for our stay.
Review 30:The breakfast sucked! We would've preferred some pancakes and bacon like other hotels offer as part of their package. Also, Next time I would stay on the second floor.
Review 31:The room was exactly like the picture. I really loved how close it was to the village and I loved the view from our room!
Review 32:The chalet shares a wall with the office, so we could hear a little noise from there, but not much.
Review 33:The chalet was spacious, clean, and well-decorated, with large rooms and a comfortable living room and kitchen. The internet was fast and easy to use. The staff left us a key, even though we didn't call ahead to let them know we'd be arriving later. Parking was free and right next to the chalet. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 34:I thought it was a little silly that the continental breakfast "wasn't included in our booking." Everyone else got the breakfast, except us. Seemed a little silly they couldn't allow us to eat their $2 breakfast even though we paid $130+.....
Review 35:The room was great. Awesome location, just down the hill from Mammoth Mtn.
Review 36:We had nothing but excellent service from Todd at Holiday Haus! We can not wait to go back and we have already told all of our friends about this spot! If your in town no matter what occasion, I would highly recommend booking here!
Review 37:Not much bad to say other than the room above me had some loud guest that moved around until late night. I will just book an upstairs room next time.
Review 38:Loved the price point and it was great to have coffee and a light breakfast. The staff was friendly and welcoming, The fire place in the room was wonderful as well.
Review 39:Room was frigid on arrival and took half an hour to warm. Hot tub was out of service for part of my stay.
Review 40:Excellent location right at the main intersection of town and the route to mammoth resort. Room was spacious, clean and the bed comfortable. Room had Fireplace for heat, controlled by the thermostat and worked well. Disappointed that the hot tub was out of service for part of my stay, essential for après ski.
Review 41:Great Location, Great Price, Clean and Comfortable. Holiday Haus was a perfect stop for my family. Cozy Kitchen, plenty of sleeping space for our family.
Review 42:nothing bad to say!
Review 43:lovely fire on in the room to welcome us. good location to all of mammoth lakes. very clean and comfortable. nice enough breakfast.
Review 44:TV sounds could be heard through the walls.
Review 45:The bedroom suite was comfortable. Initially, the hot water took a long time to get hot so a lot of water was wasted going down the drain. Staff was very nice.
Review 46:Bed was hard and facility was old. Windows were drafty and noisy. Curtains would not cover the widows properly so I had to jerry rig them. Needs updating. Pavement was beginning to fall apart.
Review 47:It was fairly quiet. Looks nice from the outside.
Review 48:Not a comfortable bed. Shower wasn't hot enough. And the towels weren't even clean.
Review 49:Not much.. only the gentleman that helped me check in and check out was a very polite full person. Other then that nothing.
Review 50:We were in Room #2 - The thermostat on the wall did not work and it was getting way too hot. Strange to wake up in the middle of the night to find my entire family sleeping in their underwear on top of the blankets because it was so dang hot! Brought it up with staff after the first night and was told, "Oh, yeah, I know we've had issues in that room." Gee, thanks for taking my money knowing we'd be uncomfortable during our stay. And we never did find the control for the fireplace (not that we could have used it, anyway).
Review 51:Room looked nice when we walked in, but that's about it. They offered "breakfast" but we didn't even bother.
Review 52:nothing.
Review 53:Got a great room. Was really clean an comfy. A really cozy place. Totalls worth the money. Can recommend it to everyone. Good Wifi, great beds. Breakfast is very good.
Review 54:The stone pathway to the unit Blown fluorescent light in the kitchen could not be fixed at night
Review 55:Location Size of the apartment Back door opened into the forest Information provided by Christina at he front desk
Review 56:Nothing really, everything was fine.
Review 57:Really friendly young lady at check in, nice room and cute gas fire made it very cosy. I don't know why all the negatives - sure it's no luxury boutique but it's perfectly fine and in keeping with the ski resort feel to the town. Maybe the hostel is different but the 2 queen bed room was fine for us!
Review 58:The continental breakfast was really nothing to write home about. Very very basic. Would've loved some butter and cheese\ham.
Review 59:A really nice and clean place. Big Rooms.
Review 60:The Internet connection was very slow and often you missed the signal
Review 61:The cabin we got it was recently renewed. It was in my opinion one of the best cabin we had through out our entire trip!
Review 62:Kristina the manager was extremely friendly and passionate about her town. The hot tub also got a workout after a day in the mountains. Moreover the setting amongst the pines with birds and squirrels and other animals was very tranquil.
Review 63:Nothing to complain about...
Review 64:Mammoth Lakes is a sight for saur eyes. A time for recreation and rest for the soul. Beautiful trails in the mountains for hiking and running, even golfing. Laid back environment for everyone who likes to take time from stressful days and get away from daily routins.
Review 65:the beds were very soft, especially the couch sleeper (and I am not very picky with beds!)
Review 66:Good location, nice cottage which sleeps 4-6, good breakfast, friendly employees, clean room, good Wifi, kitchen and fridge
Review 67:Misleading web photos. Web photos seemed to indicate all rooms had kitchenettes. Not the case. Paid a little more for the room because I thought it had a kitchen. I was wrong.:(
Review 68:Nice location
Review 69:Poor breakfast (even to American standards); the excuse was they had run out of stock of certain items.
Review 70:Very nice room with excellent beds. Extremely quiet.
Review 71:No one told us about the bears in the area. There are no signs in the parking lot warning of bears. A bear broke into our truck and ate over a weeks worth of food. Thankfully, there was not too much damage but it certainly would have been nice for someone to warn us; even a sign in the parking lot would do! I would attach pictures if it was possible.
Review 72:It was nice to have a kitchen in our room so we could feed the kitchen
Review 73:The place for breakfast is very small
Review 74:We stay at the so called "Chalet" ( two bedrooms), it is a very nice and cosy. The perfect place for staying longer time
Review 75:I arrived while traveling solo, for one night. It was a beautiful stay. The room was very clean, spacious and had a great view of the forest. The location was perfect, took me a few minutes by car to reach the hiking trails. A totally recommended stay.
Review 76:Location in woods. Nice and quiet though close to the road. We came late in the evening, the reception was closed but the keys and all the instructions were waiting for us in an envelope. And we liked yummy bagels for breakfast.
Review 77:No air conditioning...ok for our stay, but could be a problem in a hot spell
Review 78:Very comfortable accommodations, and didn't feel at all like a cookie cutter chain
Review 79:Gorgeous room with a view out over the woods and a fireplace inside. Incredibly comfortable beds and really neat artwork on the walls. Wanted to stay here a second night, but they were already booked solid for the next night.
Review 80:The pilot light of the propane heater kept the room too warm during the afternoon even though the window was open. There were no grab bars or safety features in the shower.
Review 81:I liked smelling the pine forest and seeing it out the window.
Review 82:The internet connection was too slow for movies on Netflix to function properly but that was just a very minor dissapointment. All else was superb.
Review 83:We stayed in the 2 bedroom suite with our 4 children. Huge apartment, very luxurious bedrooms and a huge livingroom. There's even a small garden for the kids to play in.
Review 84:We could not fault anything.
Review 85:This motel is in a good location which is easily accessible to all attractions in the Mammoth Lake area and shops. On arrival we were warmly welcomed by Patti who showed us to our newly re-furbished suite. The suite had a living room, kitchenette, bathroom with shower and a large bedroom which was clean, comfortable and had everything that we needed for our 4 night stop. Todd and Christine were also very helpful in advising us of things to do. Overall this 2 star rated motel far exceeded our expectations and we felt like valued guests and not just a number.
Review 86:The room is big, but the furniture feels quite dated.
Review 87:Very very helpful staff that helped us with our late arrival and gave us all the tips about the area.
Review 88:The breakfast wasn't anything to shout about. Lots of bread and cereal. Not eating wheat, was a challenge for me. There was fresh fruit. That saved the day.
Review 89:Convenient location. The hotel, although older, has been well maintained and updated. Our room was nice and large. The check in and out was easy. Nice friendly people.
Review 90:There is a bear that come to the hallway every night ! We saw it trough the eyehole at the door at 1.50 am trying to open the trash cans ! Very scary especially if the kids sleep at a different room. Theroom maintanance standart is very low (bath clugef, refrigirator does not work)
Review 91:The location
Review 92:Staff behaviour for breakfast refill counter & reception - can be more friendly
Review 93:Ambience & size of room & location of little distance from Village
Review 94:Small fridge & water for shower not very hot.
Review 95:Location was perfect for sightseeing & being near the Village. The room was newly refurbished and was a delightful setting. The staff were wonderful & very helpful.
Review 96:Great value for money. Excellent location with a very comfortable bedroom! The bathroom was so well organised and quaint. Breakfast was very tasty and the staff were friendly
Review 97:Room was nice but their Guest Directory listed the Holiday Haus as ECONOMY and I certainly didn't pay an economy price.
Review 98:Location, friendliness of the staff. Room was HUGH with a small kitchen. Didn't use the fireplace although I can imagine it's importance during the winter season.
Review 99:It was really warm in the room. Due to the fact it was cold outside, we thought that opening the window would help. It didn't because of the screen, which we appreciated, to help keep out bugs, but it was still hot. There was only a heater in the room & due to the bear warning, we were certainly not going to open the door. Sleeping was pretty uncomfortable & some of us were sweating.
Review 100:Clean, comfortable & great location. Very friendly staff.
Review 101:Heating could not been switched off. 28 C in the bedroom. Owner promised to fix it, but didn't - at least not during our stay.
Review 102:Friendly welcome. Tipps on restaurants. Quick exchange of defect hairdryer.
Review 103:The things we didn't like about the room were there was no a/c, was a very small refrigerator with no freezer, were very uncomfortable beds, and there was fairly weak water pressure.
Review 104:The things we loved about the hotel was that we had a clean room, the staff were very friendly helpful staff, there was a very nice and peaceful view into woods.
Review 105:The beds were not that comfortable, and there is no air conditioning. The breakfast was very limited and closed immediately when they said the time was over even if you walked in and they didn't start cleaning up yet.
Review 106:The location was good, the bed linens were nice and new.
Review 107:Noisy if you are on the first floor and someone is in the room above you - you can hear every step they take.
Review 108:Beautiful setting! Friendly and helpful staff! Caters to hikers and backpackers, I think. Limited continental breakfast in small space. Close to several eating places.
Review 109:Continental breakfast is limited.
Review 110:Room was clean and comfortable with enough space for our group of 6. Used the kitchen to make breakfast. Nice location close to shopping and attractions.
Review 111:Spa didn't work it was "out if service " and the beds were horrid along with no a/c , bad pm's for us here I'd move along to somewhere else
Review 112:Not much to like here
Review 113:We struggled to know what to do if we were arriving after 9pm but eventually we're advised that a key would be left for us I think this wasn't helped by booking.com calling and getting someone to try and call us back we should have just called directly to the hotel as we ended up getting stressed and worried we would not have a bed for the night!
Review 114:Todd the Manager was very helpful in advising the local area and gave us coupons for money off the boats for lake Mary. The breakfast was good the rooms clean and you had a fridge
Review 115:It is a shame that there is only one bathroom and toilet for 8 people on the ground floor. Even so it was clean and supplied with towels shampoo and hand washing liquid.
Review 116:We stayed our first night in the newly refurbished hostel. They have done a wonderful job. The down stairs dorms and living areas were comfortable and nicely decorated. The kitchen was really well equipped with new appliances
Review 117:The size of the room wasn't spacy enough for a group of people. A sidenote, they have fireplace or heater as options. Make sure you choose the right one when you book a room.
Review 118:I chose Holiday Haus for a short stay of road trip to Yosemite National Park. It has two beds in one room which is perfect accommodation for me and my parents. In addition, the staffs are very personable and friendly. They treat you like a family member which makes you feel like home. In addition, they provide healthy breakfast: bagels, yogurt, and fresh fruits.
Review 119:Check-in until 9 pm only. We had quite a problem to get there on time because we were travelling from Yosemite and they closed Tioga road because of snow, but at the end they just left the keys at the reception for us. They charge the first night right after booking, although there is free cancellation. I overlooked it and the price was quite high for me because I entered foreign currency card instead of the US one. But that was my fault.
Review 120:Large room and beds, good standard, nice view of forest out of window, the breakfast was simple, but fine.
Review 121:The room had a microwave and a "coffee maker" which didn't heat the water. No dishes were provided (except plastic cups that can't be used for warm liquids), neither tea or coffee bags. The staff offered to grab hot water from the office, but it was closed after 9:30pm. Toiletries were provided only for one person. The breakfast was horrible: bread and coffee. Our room was on the second floor, but no elevator exists.
Review 122:Good location and beds. Friendly staff.
Review 123:Website looked better than in person but the place was very clean.
Review 124:Staff was nice. Accommodations were very clean. Very short walk or drive to the main village for eating and entertainment.
Review 125:It was hard to control the temperature as it was dependent on the fireplace. Kind of pricey for what you get.
Review 126:Plenty of outlets and plenty of hooks to hang things on.
Review 127:The floor boards are squeaking very badly. The bathroom sink is cracked up at multiple places and black mold growing at those cracks. We stayed at top floor, unless you are a heavy sleeper do not stay at lower floors.
Review 128:Location is great
Review 129:My booking was supposed to include breakfast however the provided breakfast was seriously LACKING. The only things available were bagels and yoghurt. Had to go into town to order something actually edible.
Review 130:Clean room, beautiful location, price, friendly staff, microwave and fridge in room
Review 131:Didn't get a Wi-Fi code upon check-in and had to run after it later in the evening as it was not stated in the booklet in the room.
Review 132:Breakfast was fine, as were room and Wi-Fi reception.
Review 133:Very thin walls and we had a neighbor who was having an argument on the phone at 2am. We could hear EVERY word.
Review 134:For the price you can't beat it. Nice staff, clean rooms, awesome location.
Review 135:Wifi was spotty and inconsistent and the jacuzzi is small
Review 136:The cabin feel of our cottage was great and the kids loved it. We liked that it was close to the ski resort and close to shops and food
Review 137:On the second night we were there some Frat bros checked in to the room above us and we could hear every lame South Park reference and horrible pick up line (that obviously didn't work for them that night at the bar) through the walls...I'm assuming this is why they offer soundproof rooms as an upgrade...besides that, they place was great and would definitely recommend it
Review 138:Great value and location, the room was clean and comfortable (especially for the price)
