Reviews for Wildcat Inn and Tavern
Review 1:The heat in our room wasn't working properly and the staff was too busy to really do something about it. They finally showed up and said they turned it on, but we never felt it. No one was there to negotiate with about the price so we just left feeling dissatisfied.
Review 2:The location
Review 3:Internet was not available in my part of the inn. I needed to work while I was there and had to sit in the restaurant. As a result I lost 3 hours off my vacation by getting a late start the next day. The helpful woman on staff had me check the other open room and it didn't have internet either. She called the manager who said she thought I was made aware of no internet when I booked the room - but that wasn't possible since I booked on Booking.com. They didn't make an effort to compensate me for the issue - I thought the least they could have done is comp my dinner at their restaurant - or discount my room. Also - no extra plugs in the room for chargers, computers, etc!
Review 4:The Inn had a lot of charm, and felt very authentic. The grounds and gardens were lovely. My room was large and had a separate living area.
Review 5:The hotel was very dated and wasn’t for us…
Review 6:The staff was very understanding when I told them we did not want to stay there, and they said they would refund us.
Review 7:We stayed at the Wildcat Inn for one night as part of our whistle stop tour of New England. The inn is very homely and welcoming and the room was good value
Review 8:The shower was tiny and difficult to get the temperature right, also the tap water was a bit brown.
Review 9:I loved the oldness of the building and the tavern. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 10:It was not a bad experience, but would have preferred a Queen size bed - don't believe that that would have changed the country atmosphere which they are trying to maintain.
Review 11:We liked the grounds, dining room. Our dinner meal was fabulous. Like the quaint atmosphere.
Review 12:We were given a wifi password but were never able to connect.
Review 13:Love the restaurant downstairs, half was smart restaurant, the other half a cosy pub which was kid friendly.
Review 14:Nothing to complain about at all. I was on the 3rd floor (which made my room very quiet) and could not receive the wireless; however, I could get onto a neighboring hotel's unprotected wireless!
Review 15:Nice quiet Inn, spacious suite, comfortable bed and couch. Great, great restaurant! Friendly staff and servers.
Review 16:The cleanliness of the overall "Igloo", where we stayed appeared that they have never cleaned it up( window sill full of leaves, spider webs in most corners, tub needs re-caulking & re-glazing it looked nasty) . Old refrigerator had a "damp-rid" container in it that was filled with mold. Master bedroom smoke detector just hanging there without a battery!!! Suppose to sleep 6 people, but only has 5 kitchen chairs.
Review 17:The location was great. The food in the tavern was good.
Review 18:Fantastic welcome thanks to great staff, facilities and location. Wonderful evening food and entertainment (twin lobster and open mic highly recommended). Would definitely stay again.
Review 19:I am used to staying at a traditional hotel but this hotel was a lot different. It felt like home. The staff we very friendly and the food smelled great even though I did not eat any. The view of the hotel was nice. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Review 20:Watch out if you're brining a pet, on booking it was not written what the charges are, I contacted the property about it, and they did not tell me the price before coming, they turned out to be 30 USD per night (!?) (40% of the price of the room), bed is small
Review 21:Liked the look of the place, nice outdoor area
Review 22:A repeat visit for us. Innkeeper Amber remembered us and we had a great time catching up. The location was perfect as we visited Jefferson to the north and No. Conway to the south.
Review 23:We stated in the 2 bedroom igloo. It was fine. It's like an old cottage. No working stove which we knew and the wifi wasn't great because we were away from main building. Overall, it was fear for location and price.
Review 24:Staff was friendly and helpful. This is an old fashioned inn and restaurant which felt very cozy with a beautiful large garden in the back. My lodging actually had a separate sitting room. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!
Review 25:The staff were great and the food in the Tavern was awesome! The grounds were beautiful. We stayed in the Igloo which has two bedrooms and was nice for two couples but it was very outdated and not the cleanest. Although I guess it was about as clean as it could be for the age of the place. If you are large do not stay here as you will not fit in the upstairs bathroom!
Review 26:Tiny room, tiny bed, WiFi didn't work, air conditioner made an extremely Loud annoying noise. There was a inch space at the top of the door, and the light from the hallway shone in all night
Review 27:Walls were very thin & you could hear neighboring rooms. During stay it was only during non sleeping hours. Guests when we stayed did refrain from noise at night.
Review 28:Atmosphere & charm of property
Review 29:Enjoyed hanging out in the Tavern by the fire. Staff very accommodating (esp. Amber and Sue). Stayed 2 nights in the Igloo (2 BR cottage), 1 night in the Inn. Preferred Inn as it felt cleaner (no pet fur) & more updated. Comfortable & non-pretentious atmosphere.
Review 30:Not good for anyone with heavy suitcase, room up two floors, no lift.
Review 31:Great atmosphere in old wooden building, homely room of a good size. Restaurant and bar all good and friendly staff.
Review 32:Poor service when we checked in. Dirty linens in the bathtub when we arrived, air conditioner broken-loud and kept freezing up, keeping us awake, had to stuff paper in the top of the door to keep the light from the hallway shining in and keeping us awake, towel rack fell off the wall, trash from previous guest left on the chest and bathroom floor, no hair dryer furnished. Worst 2 nights ever!! Tried to find other accommodations elsewhere, but no vacancies. Will NEVER GO BACK! BEWARE! !
Review 33:Next door to a nice cafe.
Review 34:The owner was absolutely terrific! You can tell that it was completely important that we were comfortable. Its an old building but they keep up with it and has a lot of charm. Very clean. The food in the tavern was excellent. I'm not much for eating out and just simply their walnut salad with steak was terrific. Doesn't cost much to stay and its in a really nice location.
Review 35:The bed ( in our room ) was too small an very uncomfortable for two adults to sleep in. The bed would have been fine for just one person to sleep in but not for the two of us. Very bad cell signal and no internet service. Everything else was fine.
Review 36:Great location next to Jackson falls and places to eat. Only 20 minutes driving from Ellis Falls and Mt Washington. Very good restaurant/food in the hotel. Great parking space and nice surroundings.
Review 37:No breakfast, but they did have coffee and a couple of small snacks in the lobby. It worked.
Review 38:We LIKED this spot, everyone friendly, helpful. Food was very good. Fun atmosphere. Rooms were neat clean and comfortable. The age of the facility added was the charm.
Review 39:1. bathroom - cup holder fell of the wall. There was not soap in bathroom. 1 window no screen, the other still had the storm window down. No light over sink and you had to pull shades down because of the out door seating, very dark to apply makeup. 2. Bed slanted downward by your head(some kind of pole under bed for support and dusty floor under bed) Pillows we were told brand new (they didn,t get their moneys worth) Hornets nest in window by love seat, and the shade was broken. Remote for the tv didn't work
Review 40:How close it was to the wedding we attended at Wentworth Inn. The male staff member helped us bring our belongings to the third floor. All the staff was nice.
Review 41:Everything, great corner room, excellent food, superb staff especially Amber the manager. Location, location, location. The BEST place to be for a severe thunderstorm in the white mountains.
Review 42:Noisy and hot, old building, you can hear every step and water flush. The street is right in front so all day and night you will hear all the traffic. Everything inside is old and smelly full with moisture and very very hot. Cheapest on that street but it will worth to try to find something better for a few bucks more. There are hundreds hotels/inns in the area.
Review 43:poor shades on windows, cheap...........too much light thru room door edges............poor pillows, no extras......all rooms on back of inn get to listen to loud kitchen staff til late at night......
Review 44:great location, nice grounds, the price......
Review 45:The pull out couch was broken but we were able to put the mattress on the floor. There were quite a few cobwebs and spiders hanging around. This didn't bother us, but could freak others out.
Review 46:Great location close to Storyland, and the Igloo was perfect for 2 small families to be together! Very comfortable bedrooms upstairs.
Review 47:Room was on the third floor, so had to climb stairs. If we had known, we would have taken a smaller suitcase for the stay.
Review 48:Large clean room. Air conditioner worked well and was quiet. Updated clean bathroom. Great value for the price we paid.
Review 49:Everyone was so warm & friendly.
Review 50:The food at the tavern is expensive
Review 51:Fun and interesting location, kinda weird old building.
Review 52:Banging of heat during the night rthere is no control over the heat
Review 53:Nice pub restaurant with live music
Review 54:Ideal location to rest a spell. Pub is excellent and chef talented.
Review 55:Slightly noisey at night
Review 56:Cabin style feeling.
Review 57:no hot water for shower
Review 58:great location, nice gas stove for heat in the room. friendly staff
Review 59:room was very small and could not open the bathroom door fully - had to squeeze around it Musty smell in room and very squeaky bed.
Review 60:Location, staff
Review 61:I had a nice room and it was a great tavern
Review 62:Room was too hot - steep stairs to third floor
Review 63:Good location - friendly staff
Review 64:Beautiful setting/town and lovely rustic inn. Loved the Tuesday night '2 lobster' special and live music.
Review 65:Spotty wifi connection in the room, no breakfast
Review 66:Very friendly and helpful staff, beautiful house and location, spacious rooms
Review 67:Mirror over sink was too high.
Review 68:Our room was very comfortable & homey. Staff were friendly & helpful.
Review 69:A perfect place for the rustic north mountain feel. Not a holiday inn.
Review 70:People who do their best to give you a wonderful holiday.
Review 71:Warm and welcoming staff to a homey place to stay.
Review 72:The staff were very helpful and friendly. Great value
Review 73:Unreliable shower.
Review 74:the service and the room
Review 75:Location!
Review 76:Nothing to report
Review 77:We liked everything about it
Review 78:poor wifi
Review 79:cost, location, and the tavern/restaurant
Review 80:lady bugs everywhere, food and grime in the kitchen, stove broken, no glasses, WIFI signal very poor, broken sofa bed
Review 81:there was other guests that were unruly. the staff should have thrown them out
Review 82:Having to wait a long time for our meal in the restaurant even though it was almost empty
Review 83:Atmosphere of tavern, the setting, friendly staff
Review 84:Stayed here for a romantic long weekend. Great location and loved having a restaurant/pub downstairs. Def. would go back!
Review 85:Nothing
Review 86:Staff Restaurant Bar Room Village
Review 87:wifi did not work in our room
Review 88:relaxing atmosphere
Review 89:A beautiful tavern and inn set in the most beautiful mountain surroundings. Room was cozy, restaurant food was great. Friendly staff.
Review 90:Cramped bathroom - miitgated though by the rest of the room.
Review 91:Live music in the bar area. Surprising room - decor and size.
Review 92:Staff and location
Review 93:Beds too old. Holes in sheets Very dirty, stair carpets need a good steam clean and regular vacuuming
Review 94:Lovely location
Review 95:The inn was very clean and the staff welcoming. We ate in the tavern and the food was excellent. Will go back again.
Review 96:The wildcat Inn was comfortable. The 2 for 1 dinner on Wednesday was excellent. We enjoyed our stay
Review 97:The garden area and restaurant!!
Review 98:Remote didn't work for the TV
Review 99:The sitting area they had outside in around their flower gardens. The living room and bedroom were separate.
Review 100:No elevator.
Review 101:Friendly staff. Good bar. Lively music. Nice room.
Review 102:I saw only one person taking care of everything.
Review 103:The generator/fan from the kitchen roof was extremely loud, I think it wasn't working properly so we lost sleep since 2am. When we complained we were not offered neither a refund not a comp night. I would have expected to be understood a little bit better since a good night sleep should be a hotel's number one amenity.
Review 104:Staff was very friendly, the rooms were comfortable. Location excellent for story land :) i cakes to request an early check in and the inn keeper made sure everything was ready for early arrival.
Review 105:Room was awful.when I asked if we could stay in the room across the hall they said no, it was booked, but no one stayed there all weekend. I could go on about all the bad things about our room, but just will say it was generally awful. The price was low, so I guess we got what we paid for
Review 106:Location and bar and common room upstairs for guests
Review 107:Just a little disappointment that they did not have a sofa sleeper. We had our son & no place for him to sleep. Usually the rooms have a sleep bed. They charged us for an extra person but he had to sleep on a small couch.
Review 108:We love the location and the inn just a nice place to stay. We can bring the dog too.
Review 109:We had to get used to the old style radiators. The hissing and clunking woke us up early but we figured out how to stop it by day 3.
Review 110:We enjoy the Wildcat as it's in the heart of Jackson, it's clean and comfortable and has a very cozy tavern on the premises. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly.
Review 111:We were in the Igloo which worked out great for us, having 2 couples, one with a small child. However, the stove was out of order and it looks like it hasn't worked in awhile. Not a big deal for us, but we would have liked to have known that as I was planning French toast for breakfast. If a future guest plans to cook dinner, they will be very disappointed.
Review 112:This is a cool, rustic place with a lot of character, which we like. If you're looking for ritzy, look elsewhere. Staff is great, good bar, and a great location.
Review 113:Three brilliant nights, loved the picturesque surroundings. We used the restaurant on night #1 which was excellent but reverted to the bar for nights 2&3. Great food and drink and fantastic hospitality. Saw a moose to boot. Could live here.
Review 114:We stayed two nights but apart from the bed being made and the towels straightened no cleaning was done. Some things e.g thermostat, sink waste, did not work. Rather pricey for sloppy maintenance.
Review 115:Attractive historic building right in the middle of Jackson village. Very good restaurant and tavern attached with music most nights. Lovely scenery nearby. Warm, large room.
Review 116:Couldn't get a hot shower (one day it turned cold while I wasshampooing my hair); bathroom mirror was at navel height, bedroom mirrorwas too far from outlet to use hair dryer; had to haul a suitcase to the3rd floor; no one at the desk when we checked in or when we checked out
Review 117:Location; restaurants (food and waitstaff were excellent)
