Reviews for The Mosser Hotel
Review 1:The rooms are very very small, half of them with a lot of outside noise, no airconditioning available while it is very hot, shared bathroom is the worst ever, price is too high for the value, you could hear a lot of noise form the hall, bathrooms use and cleaners. I will never go here again for business purpose. If you don't have as much money.....pick a hostel for 1/3 of the Mosser price and you will be fine
Review 2:The location is in the middle of the city. For business purpose amazing with the Moscone Center just on the corner. But their are plenty of other places that makes your travel comfortable to see the city or go to the Moscone center
Review 3:loud as of other rooms, walls are too thin to pass over voice + they don't open the heater unless you tell "the room is cold". when you tell, they open, and the room gets warm
Review 4:perfect location, delicious muffins&coffee in the morning "not breakfast"
Review 5:Hotel is an older hotel. Rooms are small, a bit dated, but clean. Bathrooms are small. No breakfast. Just coffee and a pastry.
Review 6:Location is perfect. Could not be better.
Review 7:See above
Review 8:The shower was very bad (water pressure super low) - due to CA water restrictions? Or to poor design? Could perfectly hear the people in the room next door (and probably they could hear me too). Good location to see neat town sites, but please take care of the "zombies" - please! It is the most disgraceful, pathetic and not to mention dangerous sight that I have ever seen in my life. And I have traveled to many places and seen weird stuff.
Review 9:Such a pleasant surprise - facilities all super modem and tearful and shared bathroom facilities always clean and tidy. Appreciated the little extras like robes to get too and from shower and mini toiletries, great wifi, super comfy bed with lots of pillows and a quiet fan. Yes it was a small room but this really wasn't an issue as we were out and about so room was only a crash pad.
Review 10:Parking is outrageously expensive everywhere around the hotel! While a car is bot needed to go sightseeing in the city, tourists passing by with a car are highly penalised with parking fees
Review 11:Boutique facilities at an affordable price. Clean shared facilities and helpful staff.
Review 12:There was nothing I disliked. There have been some reviews of the rooms & bathrooms being small. That may be true but it is a clean room to rest your head.
Review 13:The staff, front desk & housekeeping, is friendly and accommodating. Joe, concierge/valet, is great. The property is clean. The Mosser is a few blocks from AT&T Park and a couple of blocks from Union Square.
Review 14:We had a couple of personal problems which were easily handled by the staff. In particular, Lido, who normally takes care of valet service, was extremely helpful. We also enjoyed the Keystone restaurant...convenient, good food and service.
Review 15:The room was very small and very hot.
Review 16:The staff were friendly and helpful. The location is excellent and the room clean. We had a seperate shared bathroom which was fine and caused us no issues.
Review 17:i asked the front desk for help with just general ideas of what to do in town and it was a bit disappointing to have the staff respond "i am not so great at this". ive never had this happen at a hotel in a touristic city. it was odd.
Review 18:excellent locaiton. excellent wifi. bathrooms and rooms were great. good use of space in smaller size rooms. twin beds were comfortable, but shockingly small. its college twin size.
Review 19:Hi all, this hotel room pretty small but stay in comfort and cozy. Everything is very convenient and easy to move around everywhere.. A little disappointed on breakfast as only muffin, tea and coffee being served on morning breakfast.
Review 20:Wasn't informed there were 2 shared bathrooms per floor. No drawers in Queen w/shared bathroom - I hung my clothes on the extra hangers.
Review 21:Location can't be beat. No frills but fully functioning facilities. Bathrooms and toilets cleaned regularly throughout the day. Probably best value in San Francisco.
Review 22:The room was extremely small, it was not even possible to keep my suitcase open and still be able to walk to the bathroom. Also very unpleasant smells from inside the hotel entering the room. The whole hotel is very badly entertained (except from the reception which is nice). Overall a very bad experience, especially if you compare to the price. I have stayed in San Francisco more than 15 times during the last years and that was the worst hotel I have ever been.
Review 23:The reception is nice, that's the only positive I could find.
Review 24:Windows are thin/single glazed so there is a lot of street noise in the early hours , even on the top floor. Room was (Double) small.
Review 25:Well located south of Union Square right next to convention centre.
Review 26:They held over $124 for security deposits yet can not tell me why they are charging me that number when they said they would charge $75 security deposits. IV been home 3days and they are still holding my $. Horrible breakfast, staff that don't know what they are doing. Then when asked why these odd holds on my account, was told "Let me try to explain in a way you will understand.......the charges will come off 5-7business days" this makes no sense. Check the room! We left 2days ago! Lights flicker in the room. Go elsewhere if you are a budget because they kept placing holds on our bank account, they also charged me for the room when I booked a month early than my arrival. All of this is screaming unwise business practices.
Review 27:We had a terrible experience in the middle of the night with noise and a very unprofessional manager. We were woken up at 4:00am by extremely loud trucks banging large metal containers (so either trash trucks or delivery trucks) in the alley way outside of our room (on the 6th floor). The noise was excessive and lasted for almost an hour. It was insane. I called the front desk at 4:45 to inquire/vent and Lydia, who answered the phone and who said she was the manager on duty, tried to use a Jedi mind trick on me and kept telling me there were no trucks making noise. I obviously strongly disagreed and quickly became more infuriated at the whole disruption. Then she finally said that is the city, so noise should be expected. No empathy, explanation, apology, nothing - just a horrible night's sleep. This unfortunately offset any positive hotel attributes. And FYI, the rooms are the tiniest rooms I have ever seen, just so you know. And parking is $47 a day!
Review 28:Good location, free wifi, free coffee in the AM.
Review 29:I would choose out of downtown. Shared Bathroom and Toilets were a walk down the hallway.
Review 30:The location is in the heart of downtown SF. It was clean and pleasant. Good dressing gowns. Flannels
Review 31:Stale smell in the room. The floor was creaky. Can hear the creaky floor of the floor above too. No sound insulation at all, so if you stay right beside the toilet like I did, you'll have a hard time getting some peace. The toilet was really small and uncomfortable. The bathroom does not give a good sense of security that it is locked. The toilet and bathroom is also not restricted to any rooms, so basically anyone on the floor can use. Design and orientation of the bed is weird.
Review 32:The location was really convenient. The basin in the room is convenient. Many free product samples provided.
Review 33:They charged me twice as I used a debit card and were not able to explain the situation correctly. Mr. Kevin at the front desk was extremely rude and unhelpful saying things like: "This is America" or "No one uses a debit card nowadays" instead of helping and trying to solve the problem. They blocked 500$ from my account and I could not use it during my stay in San Francisco. They should take more care and behave better with their guests. To be honest, a negative point for the hospitality industry.
Review 34:Location. Concierge Erick and Nish Tamang at front desk.
Review 35:Tiny rooms and bath rooms. In general the building is old and small in all aspects. Of course you can perfectly hear your neighbors and everything that is going on in the hallway. In my case during a day there was always some work in the hall so it was quite noise. But the most exciting part starts at 2am. Some cleaning/trash machines work on the street till 3-4am. No chance to sleep if you left your windows open. Since there is no air conditioning, sleeping becomes a problem. No coffee place or tables to sit and work at the lobby (I did not have a table in my room either, so had to occupy the Mariott (on the other side of the street) and neighborhood cafes).
Review 36:Located in the city center next to the Market street and the Powell station. Everything is clean and accurate, rooms are well-equipped. The staff is helpful and welcoming. I had to checkout one day earlier, and they reduced the amount of stay without any problems. All in all one of the best places in the center of San Francisco for that price (mind that the final price will be +16% tax).
Review 37:the bed wasnt a dbl, a wood slab w/a hard mattress, a wallnin front of my window.one of those luxurious places on tv, but crack city inside. except clean.
Review 38:the area was cool, it was clean. the room was not what i thought.
Review 39:Rooms are too small and toilets are in corridor to share
Review 40:There was no continental breakfast but coffie and muffin complimentary was enough. Location is wonderfull, easy access to Union Spuare and Market Street by walk. Also Financial District and Pier Building only 15 minutes by walk.
Review 41:Noisy till 2am. Very very tiny room. Bathroom sink was outside the bathroom, and there was a shelf right above it that prevented use of the sink!!!
Review 42:It was clean and close to the conference centre
Review 43:The challenge with shared bathrooms isn't to have to wait in line sometimes (rarely), but that the doors to the toilets in the hall may get slammed at any time during the night. Additionally, the windows facing Market Street are above the warning beep signal that activates every time a car emerges from the next door underground garage.
Review 44:The main reason to stay here is the proximity to the city and in particular the Moscone Center
Review 45:Noisy as in central area - even had workmen in the middle of the night banging on the roof! Also light at the top of the bedroom doors made it difficult to sleep. All of San Fran is expensive, I think this hotel is good value for money but don't stay if you're a light sleeper.
Review 46:Great location, room was clean, shower good. Staff were lovely. Coffee great in the morning
Review 47:Quite small rooms as you'd expect, a view of another bedroom window and fairly noisy cleaners each morning.
Review 48:Good location close to transport links and shopping, comfortable beds, friendly staff.
Review 49:The parking fee is horrible. You have to add $47 to whatever your rate is for parking. It takes 40 minutes for them to bring your car to you. Small rooms
Review 50:Location is super awesome. Bart station around corner. Shopping around corner. Literally in the heart of union square. The room although small, was comfortable and cozy for the two of us.reminded me of college.
Review 51:Very expensive hotel bill - including local tax for small room. No breakfast but just hot drinks and donuts in the lobby!!!
Review 52:Very friendly staff in the reception. Excellent location.
Review 53:Even it is not hotels fault, there was noise at backyard all night and we could not sleep a lot.
Review 54:Hotel is clean, at excellent location, services are professional.
Review 55:to improve on bfast offering. what about sausages, bread, jams and orange juice. just like the bnb
Review 56:love the location. easily accessible to any mode of transport. walking distance to shopping places
Review 57:Small rooms which is expected here in SF. Be aware that some rooms have shared bathroom.
Review 58:Nice staff and if course great location. Complimentary coffee and tea, fast wifi.
Review 59:Not that big of a deal, but the hallways smelled a bit musty. The room itself didn't have any issues, however.
Review 60:The location was good, near Union Square. The rooms were unglamorous but comfortable and I slept well. I had a private ensuite room.
Review 61:The rooms are very small and hot .Outside is very noisy and although we knew that there would not be any toilet or bathroom in the room.that was not a pleasant experience..
Review 62:The location is excellent and you can find anything you need in that tiny room. But there is no ac in the room and when you open the window too much noise coming from outside and it is impossible to sleep.I was asking myself why they had put earplugs with shampoo now I know why:)
Review 63:Extreme HOT in the room (Althought it was mid october) and no air conditining. Also there was a construction in the backyard and if we open the window there was a lot of noise. Room really small, but it's san Francisco :-)
Review 64:Location, location, location. And the "small" breakfast was really good (Coffe + some pastry). Staff friendly. And the shared bathroom always 100% clean
Review 65:The beds were comfortable. The dual pane windows blocked the traffic noise well. The staff was courteous. I enjoyed the historic building and blend of Victorian with modern convenience.
Review 66:Noisy- Badly Nosy Room should be little bigger
Review 67:GREAT location Near to restaurants and commute systems Clean Coffee & Donuts in the morning Wine testing on Friday
Review 68:- we stayed in deluxe queen room but it was tiny. It's a definitely SF size, not US size.
Review 69:- location. Great access to downtown area/ bars and restaurants. No need taxi. - breakfast( good coffee and donuts) - room design is simple and relatively updated
Review 70:Leave a side the tiny rooms, the fact there is not closet so you can't unpack, the thin walls and the one elevator only that serves 8 stories building - they offer a parking service via valet, but take no responsibility for that. They brought my car in delay of 35 minutes, even though I asked them 8 hours ahead for a specific time, and almost made me miss my flight. And when approached the counter, was told: well, you can complain. Indeed a great attitude of the staff and great performance. Won't come again and would not recommend others.
Review 71:Great location. And that's about it
Review 72:The room was very small. And the bed...no comments...that is not a typical double bed. Fortunately we are small and slim! No wardrobe so we had to keep everything in our suitcases...for 5 days!
Review 73:Location is just great. In the middle of everything and well connected with public transport. Donuts for breakfast are delicious Computer and printer facilities
Review 74:Shared toilet and bathroom. Extremely pushy and noisy cleaning personel who insisted on cleaning all the rooms at 7am instead of after checkout. Cleaning personel kept trying to enter the shower when we were showering instead of just waiting.
Review 75:Great location close to Union Square. Very clean room and common areas.
Review 76:Noisy area of town, garbage skip trucks seem to come about 3am for the mall behind. You have to expect this kind of thing with being so central. Double glazed windows do help, but means you will suffer a bit on a hot night.
Review 77:You couldn't get a better location if you tried, shared amities were good. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Review 78:I was traveling for business and I am used to a certain level of accommodations for my stay. I was trying to save a little $$ given the location was San Fran and typically higher. I was immediately disappointed upon entering the location. This is more of a spot for a weekend trip with friends.
Review 79:To stay cool have to leave the windows open and there was quite a bit of noise to deal with.
Review 80:Small rooms with no air, but were comfortable and the location is hard to beat. Very near Union Square and transportation facilities.
Review 81:All. Bad smell, Room so little that you cannot Open your luggages
Review 82:Nothing It's a steal to pay 200 dollars for this But i think Sf has this problem
Review 83:The hotel is a bit old but very clean. The room is quite small but considering its very central location, it´s OK. The hotel is right around the shopping area and financial district. China town, Union Square, City Hall, Marketplace, cable car, metro station are all within walking distance. Staff are helpful and nice. The free coffee and donut doughs they provide in the morning are simple but very tasty and with that you do not need breakfast.
Review 84:Room and bed are little small and there is no air con. Will be problematic in summer
Review 85:Great location in downtown San Francisco. Public transport to main sightseeing locations and airport is very close
Review 86:A real breakfast would be appreciated. Room are not soundproofed.
Review 87:Small but very convenient and pretty room. The hotel is very well sited (near the Market street).
Review 88:We stayed in 324. The neighbors in 323 were awful. So incredibly loud from 1130-2am. Sounded like a house party. I called the front desk at 2 am asking them to help out. They called the neighbors: I could hear the whole conversation due to the walls being so thin.
Review 89:The front desk staff were incredible. Accommodating! Helpful and kind! I was in town for the sf Nike women's half marathon.
Review 90:When we arrived there was a reception going on. There was free drinks and pizza. If you want to experience 200 year old San Francisco this is a great hotel with a lot of authentic details.
Review 91:Our room was a small and it was hard to fit the luggage. Also no ac.
Review 92:In comparison to the overpriced hotel scene in sf, the mosser gives good value for money. Located in the downtown and next to the bart station. Hotel is clean and staff is super nice.
Review 93:Our room was a little bit small, but it wasn't a problem.
Review 94:Good location near Market street, nice staff, clean bathrooms and rooms. Also breakfast was served in the morning included some pastries with tea and coffee.
Review 95:Shared bathrooms in this day and age - only tolerable because every other San Francisco hotel in the same price bracket seems to have them too.
Review 96:All about the location - but for what it is, this is quite a nice little hotel in a fantastic old building. Relatively good value for San Francisco - though relative to anywhere else in the world, not so much!
Review 97:The street noise at night, but to be expected in the location I guess.
Review 98:Clean and comfortable. Value for money. Easy to get to from airport. Shared bathrooms were fine.
Review 99:Tiny bathrooms in delux, no air conditioning only ceiling fans. SF Heatwave was unbearable, had to leave window wide open for some air. My room was nearing 90 degrees when I arrived. Extremly noisey outside, complementary ear plugs were nice but not enough when you have to keep the window open.
Review 100:Cleanliness, Staff was excellent, coffee was excellent. Hotel was nicely decorated.
Review 101:Thought there would be a little bit more storage area for clothes. But this was only a minor issue. A safe would've been nice also.
Review 102:Location was amazing! Great value for your money when comparing nearby hotels. Yes, the rooms are small but we knew that going in from previous reviews. We didn't mind because we were really only in our room to sleep.
Review 103:Bathroom down the hall is an adjustment, but it worked well.
Review 104:Great location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms were clean and bathrooms were maintained well.
Review 105:room was cramped, with the bed next to a wall so hard to get out of. We were next to the communal toilet, which we could hear being flushed, and the heavy doors slamming shut, throughout the night. Despite quadruple glazing, noises from outside still disturbed us. No fridge or tea making facilities in room. No bar or restaurant, despite these being advertised.
Review 106:Free coffee and dough balls provided in the reception in the morning. Convenient for 'downtown' San Francisco, and the Train/team services. Shuttle service was provided by the hotel to the airport at $16 pp. (not advertised)
Review 107:The hotel is in an old historical building which seems to mean to rooms are pretty small and overall given the cost doesn't feel like great value. If I went back to SF I'd consider spending more at a more established brand hotel.
Review 108:Location is excellent. Good coffee available in the morning.
Review 109:Room was small with bed pushed up against one wall making it difficult to get out! Lots of street noise too.
Review 110:Central location just off Market Street. Polite and helpful staff.
Review 111:The rooms were very small and hot. No AC. I get that it's SF and you don't really need AC but the only window opened up to a narrow alley way which gave us zero air flow. We opened the 4th floor window at night, but we're awoken by the assembly line of empty liquor bottles being taken out to the alley by the neighboring bar staff, which was accompanied by the stench of old beer and dishwasher steam. The pillows were extremely uncomfortable. We barely slept. $240 on a Tuesday in Autumn for a 8x10 stuffy box with nothing but a sink, a bed, and a TV? (Notice I'm not even mentioning the shared hall bathroom here, as it was the least disappointing for a somewhat low-maintenance girl like me) And they don't return your $75 incidentals charge for a week. We should have stayed at the Day's Inn.
Review 112:I liked the staff, cleanliness and location.
Review 113:Room was dirty. Sink, shower and towels were full of hair. It was also unbeliavable to see sink near the bed instead of in the toilette. There is no sink in the toilette. Also the breakfast that the hotel supposed to give is not even a thing close to breakfast. They only give coffee and only one kind of small donut thing. Personnel was rude, check-in time (not before than 3 pm) is not meaningfull. No way to go again or suggest anyone.
Review 114:Definitely nothing
Review 115:Room was not spacious and I was not happy with positioning of bed due to small size room
Review 116:Complementary Morning tea, travel desk staff are very generous.
Review 117:Rooms very bright as the blinds didn't block the light out very well. Extremely noisy in the back bedrooms overnight - double glazing would be good!
Review 118:Excellent coffee in the mornings and the complimentary breakfast donuts were a nice touch. Staff all friendly and happy to help.
Review 119:I woulf like to have a frigobar at the room!! Everything else was good.
Review 120:Location is great! I really liked the room, itnis clean, quiet, very good hotel, I would come back with family and I recommend.
Review 121:Breakfast is just tea & coffee with little doughnuts. Only had a fan, rather than AC but was bearable.
Review 122:Fantastic location, staff were GREAT, room was clean and comfy and big enough for a single traveller. For me all SF accommodation is overpriced, so comparatively this was good, but I still find it hard to say it is good value for money. If I was going back I would be happy to stay here again.
Review 123:Tiny, tiny, TINY room. Even the deluxe with included bathroom was small. I barely had room to walk between the bed and my suitcase sitting next to the wall. Bed was a little uncomfortable, but not terrible.
Review 124:The location was awesome for my trip. Any part of Moscone was less than a 5 minute walk away. Great location for me... I would ABSOLUTELY stay there again.
Review 125:Rooms are tiny. Would be nice if sink area of room was bigger. Not easy to use the sink.
Review 126:Location couldn't be matched if you have a conference to attend at Moscone. Super convenient!
Review 127:The tiny room. Needed to slide to foot of bed to leave the bed as there was no room on one side. One toilet & one shower room per floor is ridiculous. Very small robe and washbasin, no room for luggage. Comparing the cost of other hotels I suppose that this hotel was still ok
Review 128:Location
Review 129:Unfortunately SF didn't knock us of our feet from the very start and we assume it was tainted by the incredible amount of homeless people which made us very sad (and sometimes even made us feel uncomfortable). Obviously this is the not the hotel's fault, but should be taken into consideration when booking any hotel especially in this area.
Review 130:We chose the Mosser because it offered one of the best values for a hotel in expensive SF. Compared to other hotels in this area it was indeed a great value. The room was tiny though, with hardly enough space to open a large suitcase beside the bed. This did not matter to us though as we spent all our time out exploring. Housekeeping was very attentive and slipped a note under the door when the missed our room one morning because we had left the "do not disturb" card out, saying we could inform the front desk when we would like them to pass by again. We liked that the location was super central and very good for public transportation.
Review 131:Our room was tiny, and very loud with the street noise. We had to keep our windows open at night because it was hot and there was no A/C. Very expensive for what you get.
Review 132:Good location. Walking distance to AT&T park
Review 133:The hotel was noisy - my room was next to the bathroom/shower (i.e., some rooms don't have showers) and pipes in the shower make a lot of noise - enough to wake me up in the morning. Cleaning staff was also a bit loud in the afternoon.
Review 134:Location was pretty good, pretty clean
Review 135:I didn't care for the surprise $75 security deposit credit card charge even though it disappeared after three business days. Most of the hotels I stay in don't even do that! The rooms with shared bathrooms are too small for a tall guy like me.Elevators were slow at times.
Review 136:What I liked is the location of the hotel near Union Square and right across from the Metreon. The staff was very friendly and helpful.I didn't have to go far to get snacks and soda. The basement had vending machines which is a plus for me.
Review 137:Nothing I am grateful for the price & comfort & kindness of staff
Review 138:Continence to Bart station & friendly staff & clean rooms & positive vibes all throughout the hotel ( would always stay there again) very comfortable bed & nice sheets & comforter - Geateful
Review 139:The hotel is really old and the rooms are very small. Definitely overpriced considering these negative points.
Review 140:The hotel is located in the centre of San Francisco, closed to Union Square.
Review 141:The breakfast is as described - and not recommendable.
Review 142:The room, bed, bathrobe, shared bathroom was quite new / clean and more than I expected. For one person there was definitely enough space.
