Reviews for Surfside Hotel and Suites
Review 1:Super location on the water, nice and clean rooms, first row house with spectacular view. Nice and helpful staff all was easy going. Breakfast only on plastic plates but the food was good! We will definitely come back
Review 2:Bed was very uncomfortable. Outside stairway was in need of repair or improvement. Breakfast was just ok.
Review 3:Staff was helpful. Liked location. Enjoyed the firepit.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:It had the most amazing views literally right in the beach. It was a 15 min walk to the centre of the town Great for us but some may find the walk too far. Fabulous free upgrade which was fantastically appreciated.
Review 6:Bathroom was old, pubic hairs in tub when we arrived. Leaky faucet, but closed door and couldn't hear it. Just kind of old facility. Also question of whether or not bedsheets had been changed...
Review 7:The bed was really comfy! Had a room on Oceanside and loved listening to the waves rolling in all night long!
Review 8:PLASTIC GLASSES PLATES AND CUTLERY. Everyone understands the need poolside but not for breakfast and in the outside bar area in the evening when there were no children around.
Review 9:LOCATION, good stroll to the town centre shops, bars and restaurants. we paid a premium for sea view which was worth it. STAFF WERE HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY
Review 10:my room was not available there had been an accident. they gave us another room and than had to move us again as a handicapped person needed it. the staff was awesome and they didnt charge me for one night, But my husband had to sleep on a cot as the only open room had one king size bed and my son could not sleep on the cot as he is 6 foot three . we made the most of it. But i was disappointed
Review 11:The staff has excellent friendly service
Review 12:This is an older building with no elevator. The stairs are steep. Older folk should request a ground floor room.
Review 13:Location right on the beach and a short walk to town. Parking is easy and in Provincetown a real plus.
Review 14:There were some weird alcohol rules. Why can't we buy a drink and bring it to the room, when we can have it anywhere else? The staff was....they could be a little friendlier. They seemed slightly curt. Never rude, just short. There should be one or two more deck chairs. I felt like we were constantly playing a game of musical chairs.
Review 15:I thought the rooms were charming, and the hotel is in a good location. Facilities were clean, and the beach was nice.
Review 16:Only one clean bath towel was supplied, no clean hand towels or face cloths were supplied. All used towels were left on floor of bathroom. Shower was very dirty. For the price, I expect a clean room and fresh towels. When I mentioned my concerns upon checkout, no one seemed too concerned.
Review 17:Location, ocean front rooms, beach proximity
Review 18:as I feel with all hotels, keep the "free" little daily shampoo, conditioner& moisturizers and replace them with a quart of bottled water a day
Review 19:great location, lovely Veiw , easy parking, nice staff
Review 20:Our room was a little small. Might book a suite next time. The Wi-Fi was unpredictable. We wished the pool had been open a little earlier so we could get in a quick swim before proceeding on to other activities in the day. Breakfast not being available till 8am, made us delay our plans some. My husband is usually up before 6am, and we didn't want to have to go out to eat earlier. These are just minor things, but would have improved my rating from good to excellent.
Review 21:The pool was so refreshing and a nice change up from the ocean. Sitting around the fire pit at night and talking with the other guests was so relaxing and a very pleasant way to end the night. Our ocean view room was fabulous, having the ocean waves lull us to sleep. Our bed could have been a little better, but we still slept soundly. At first the shared balcony seemed too public, but wound up being another opportunity to meet nice people and their dogs. It's very dog-friendly! If you don't like dogs, maybe not the place for you. We love dogs, so it was terrific to see them all over town. Located a little way from the main part of town, both good and bad in ways. Good because less noise and traffic. Bad because it was a good walk to most of the pier attractions and restaurants. Fanizzi restaurant next door provided excellent meals. We have already decided to come back here next year!
Review 22:No elevator in the building we stayed in which made it difficult getting heavy luggage to room. Pool could have stayed open later and would have been nice to have pool hours for adults only.
Review 23:Less than a mile from town so could walk to action, stores, etc... Nice beach area for us to enjoy with your chairs. Nice outdoor seating for breakfast and relaxation.
Review 24:My friend and I experienced indoor air quality symptoms such as stuffy nose, persistent cough and wheezing while in the room. The carpet was damp and all our belongings felt wet. I wouldn't recommend staying in this hotel as a result. Extremely Overpriced given the quality or should I say lack thereof. The front desk said she would have someone check - I recommended stay in there for a few hours and do an air quality test...
Review 25:The location was convenient.
Review 26:The staff could be a little more friendly. The breakfast needs improvement.
Review 27:The firepit is cozy and the beach area is what makes the hotel worth the stay.
Review 28:That we had to leave.
Review 29:The best thing about this place is the location and the staff. Superb! Close enough to the main part of the city to walk anywhere and far enough away to be disturbed. Great beach/water access.
Review 30:The wifi was slow which was at par with the local LTE service of the digital provider. enough bandwidth for booking and paying bills.
Review 31:The location of the beach side room was great, the linens, decor were excellent. I took a liking to the hand soap which is ia rarity for me.
Review 32:Utterly overpriced. The hotel is warn down and would really benefit from a renovation. Breakfast is a joke (sausage gravy and a powdery excuse for scrambled eggs - simply inedible).
Review 33:Nice deep salt water pool.
Review 34:we had a neighbor whose dog barked for a very long period when they went out, we found this very distrubing
Review 35:the location was perfect, we listened to the waves and put us right to sleep at night
Review 36:Nothing :)
Review 37:Fire pit, breakfast, pool, comfy bed, location, view, free parking While we didn't use the pool (weather didn't cooperate) I kept thinking how much my children would have loved it when they were younger. Much of Provincetown was adult centered but if traveling with children, I'd highly recommend this place! Everything else is basically a bed and breakfast.
Review 38:Bed was too soft and room was a bit smelly. if a window could be opened while sleeping or while being away, the air in the room would be better. Carpets should be exchanged for a wooden or tiled floor (more hygienic). However, this is the view of a European tourist. Americans might find that strange.
Review 39:Very well located, directly on seashore, and near to centre (5-10min. walk) very friendly staff, helpful. Nice yard with fireplace and lounge chairs to rest. Clean room with all necessary facilities.
Review 40:Their location is great. It's not too far of a walk to the town center. Room was very clean and the bed was great to sleep in. The pool area is inviting to eat breakfast next to. I would come back again!
Review 41:My only "negative" experience concerned the stairways. Theywere all wooden stairs with 2" x 6" planks for railings. Ifelt as though I would have been unable to hold the railing adequatelyshould I lose my balance. I would have felt better with a railing thatfit my hand better.
Review 42:Overall, the friendly, courteous, helpful staff made this stay betterthan any other hotel I've been to. They readily spent as much timeas was needed to help their guests. My only
Review 43:Room needs work: big tear in carpet, areas on wall where things were patched, but not painted.
Review 44:Great location; room right on the water. Pet-friendly Very friendly staff Refrigerator and microwave
Review 45:Smelled musty. Needs serious updating. Didn't feel secure. Breakfast very minimal. Would not stay there again.
Review 46:Was in town and had parking. Only required one night stay on weekend in October.
Review 47:Breakfast didn't start until 8 Rooms seemed old the only thing upgraded was the TV Mattress lumpy Bathroom REALLY SMALL Ask for handicap accessable did not get.
Review 48:Location
Review 49:Elaine and her staff are awesome! My partner, another couple and I stayed at Surfside for Women's Week and had a heck of a time getting to the hotel. The staff left a note on the door for us to call when we arrived and got us into our rooms pretty late at night. We were very impressed! The hotel itself was very clean and has a really nice breakfast. We plan on staying again on our next visit to P-Town. Thank you for a great stay! Marylou and Denise
Review 50:We were disappointed the firepit wasn't open in the evenings. it is a great place to relax, meet people and have conversations. the weather was still very good so we were hoping it would be "fired up" in the evenings.
Review 51:This was our second time staying at the Surfside. Last time we brought our dog, this time he went on his own vacay. We really enjoyed the breeze off the water, the friendly staff, and the convenience of a bike rack and biking distance to downtown. We are pet friendly, so we like sharing the digs with others who brought their pets. Everyone is friendly.
Review 52:Blood on comforter. Holes in blanket that was brought to me. Dirty rug
Review 53:I asked for comforter to be replaced since there was blood on mine. Staff brought me a laundered blanket and comforter.
Review 54:Rooms need more cleaning. The sheets were clean but the other bedding needs to be washed more often. I didn't appreciate sleeping on or with other people's dirt.
Review 55:Proximity to Provincetown and its proximity to the beach.
Review 56:Keys don't unlock back door to walkway, so if you close door on way out, you can't get back in that way. Coffee not available until 8:00 AM, which is far later than any other hotel we have stayed at, & an inconvenience to the early-risers in our party. When we asked about it, we were told that there was coffee in our room, which we obviously already knew, but also knew that it is a poor substitute for fresh-brewed coffee in the pot. I had both and there was no real comparison. Very steep, open stairways to 2nd & 3rd floors. Bar area was too brightly lit and too warm for comfort. Although we received a discounted group rate for wedding, the regular rates were too high, in our opinion. We would not have paid the full rate if that had been our only option, and would have opted to stay at a less expensive place.
Review 57:-Among the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in -Each bed had 4 pillows, which was a treat. I always use at least 3, and usually bring my own as a 3rd pilow. -A regular table & chairs to sit at -Nice, beachy decor -Very clean -Friendly staff -Proximity to beach activities & Restaurants
Review 58:Loved that our room had an ocean view. Room was bright and fresh. Fire pit and Margarita bar were great. Had an excellent stay- wish it could have been longer.
Review 59:not that I needed to use it but the room had a compact refrigerator/freezer and the freezer door could not be closed because of the build up of ice. from the amount of ice built up it looked like the door had been open for a few weeks. shower head should be replaced with one that works better. bottom fitted sheet of bedding never stayed in place. as soon as you laid down one corner or another would let go.
Review 60:the room was of a decent size. two full size beds. interesting layout of the hotel it self. plenty of hot water.
Review 61:We found this hotel on booking.com and none of the group of 6 had been to PTown previously. We absolutely loved the location, fire pit, staff, pool, breakfast, rooms, beach and dinner recommendation. We will all definitely be back!!
Review 62:The carpet in our room had a stain...my husband said the room smelled of dogs.
Review 63:I loved the view when you opened the slider from your room the view of the beach was beautiful. We could walk to the center of town. The fire pit looked awesome, we didn't have time to enjoy that. The breakfast was very good, lots to choose from. It was nice to sit outside and enjoy breakfast.
Review 64:The room was outdated and the bathroom had a ton of black mold. It smelled musty when you first walked in. The room was small and felt very crowded for the two of us. The pillows were very old and uncomfortable. It's also a little further from town than we thought. We walked home from the bar one night, and it was a very long, dark walk.
Review 65:Our room was on the water, and the view was great. It was really nice to wake up to that view.
Review 66:Due to a late flight and missed the last ferry to provincetown had totravel the following morning arrived at this hotel 10.10am and was toldour booking was sold to someone else and they did not have any otherrooms we were not given a refund of our deposit we were told it was ourown fault for not contacting them hence we managed to get an other hotelbut had to pay more money
Review 67:We were ocean/bay side; there should definitely be privacy walls/lattices installed for the balconies. It would not be necessary if guests were advised to respect others privacy and not use it as a walk way to others rooms. Either walls or make it clear it is not a walk way... the public walk way is where the entrance to the rooms are not the balconies.
Review 68:Very happy with the hotel except ...
Review 69:The bathroom had peeling paint and a lot of mold. There was no room safe. Service was not great. The internet was down for a huge chunk of time one day. Another day, we didn't get any toilet paper in our room when it was changed. I guess a lot of little things added up.. It just wasn't a great place to stay. And, though I'm sure it's hard to prevent mold from growing in a damp climate, the bathroom really did look bad.
Review 70:Our room was right on the beach, which was very nice.
Review 71:The room was filthy and the sheets did not fit. The air conditioner did not work well. It was the nastiest hotel that I've ever stayed at.
Review 72:The outdoor fire pit and seating area saved our stay and the staff was very nice.
Review 73:A long walk to the center of town.
Review 74:I loved the location for the carnival parade route, the balcony, and the beautifiul patio fire and seating outside. It was nice to have a pool on site. Also has a nice complimentary breakfast.
Review 75:Desk staff was very helpful. They provided good infromation on tourist offerings. Everything was done cordially and in a friendly manner. Although a large facility, it was surprisingly quiet and welcoming. We liked the location right on the beach with comfortable beach chairs..
Review 76:Vendor facilities were across the street. Basic of ice and snacks should be in second beach building as well. Also breakfast was too late as we are early risers Check out was slow also
Review 77:Closeness to beach and town was superior. avoided noise and congestion of commercial street but close enough to walk everywhere
Review 78:The mature gentleman monitoring the pool for townie use needs some coaching. He followed my son and I into the pool and told us the lounge chairs were foe guests and town residents (townies) could not use them. I asked him what made him think I was not a guest. He never answered, rolled his eyes and said "some people are so rude.". Yes sir, they are! I never did find out why he thought I was a townie...and one thing was sure he was judging something about me and/or my son. It was embarrassing. The coaching moment is a known yet trite one about the contents of a book and it's cover.
Review 79:The view, the fire pit, the pool, the balconies, the bed, most of the staff, and the cleanliness..and the location
Review 80:Maybe there could be a few more choices at breakfast.
Review 81:The view from the oceanfront room was amazing. Just what I wanted. Staff was helpful if needed and very friendly. Chairs provided on beach. Never got in my car again until leaving. You can walk to everything downtown. Will definitely go back.
Review 82:Building we were in didn't have elevator and it was tough to carry luggage up the stairways to 3rd floor!
Review 83:Pool, location, breakfast all good! Ocean and proximity to town all good.
Review 84:We stayed here with our two young daughters and it could not have been a more pleasant experience. Our beach-view room meant we had The beach on one side and pool on the other... Both very well equipped with chairs, etc. it is also walking distance from the centre without being overrun. Lastly the staff were extremely accommodating and efficient.
Review 85:Elaine was an excellent host and we felt well taken care of. A group of 4 spent two days/nights at Surfside and recommend it to others. Many improvements have been made to the property since last year. Great sea and pool facilities.
Review 86:The breakfast was not good. There were very little choices, they should skip the eggs and get more cereal, yogurt, & fruit choices.
Review 87:As promised, the room was ocean front and at the end so it was quiet. The view was beautiful and it was a short walk to town. We would definitely return.
Review 88:The room was in need of an update. The rug was filthy with stains. The cost was overpriced with not meeting basic standards. There was a long hair in the bed. :((((
Review 89:My partner and I stayed in Provincetown for the weekend and chose the Surfside because it was oceanfront as well as slightly away from the hustle, bustle and noise of Commercial Street in downtown Provincetown. It was an excellent choice. We brought our bikes and the mile into town was quick and easy. Use a pedicab if you come in on the ferry without bikes!!! The rooms had A/C, a shared balcony overlooking the ocean with lovely seating, a fridge, microwave and coffee maker! We enjoyed the free breakfast one of the mornings we stayed and there is a good selection of food (hash browns, scrambles eggs - yes they are powdered, so they were just so-so, freshly made waffles from do-it-yourself irons, hard boiled eggs, cereal, bread items, oatmeal, coffee, tea, juices, milk, fruit). The pool is VERY nice and they have a lovely outdoor gas fire pit with all sorts of seating around it. We stayed in the rear building which sits ON the beach. I would HIGHLY recommend staying in this building. The other building was NOT oceanfront really and while the hotel is nice, I would not choose to stay there in the pool-side building. The manager was right on top of things. When a group of rowdy, young adults were making noise outside at 3am on the Saturday night of our stay, she was out there within 30 seconds of my phone call dealing with the issue. Hotel is pet-friendly, as is ALL of Provincetown!!! Staff was very nice and very welcoming. Free parking for one vehicle.
Review 90:I don't know what hotel they took the pictures of the guest rooms from but it certainly wasn't this hotel! Our room looked nothing like the lovely rooms. We had negative experiences with both the cleaning staff and evening staff. Both were rather rude and seemed put out by us as guests. Don't expect a cocktail after 10:00pm. The linens and towels were clean but the carpet was filthy, the bathroom fan was noisy and the light dim, and the tile had the previous guest's sand all over the floor. For over $300 a night I expected better.
Review 91:The location is the best part of this property. Other than that, it's a slight upgrade from a Motel 6 and that's about it. The "free" continental breakfast at $300+ a night was a small consolation.
Review 92:The hotel is a bit of a walk from any nighttime action. There were lots of kids, so they made mornings a bit noisy outside.
Review 93:The rooms facing the water have a great view. Ptown is a cute town but very expensive. The pool was nice to have to cool off after walking around all day. The place was very quiet at night and dog friendly.
Review 94:The free breakfast was quite weak - try getting some yogurt, fresh cut fruit, and put in a bigger area to serve it all. The place was just too busy and bread and coffee isn't really an adequate breakfast, free or not. Would be awesome for this particular hotel to have a bike deal with a specific bike shop. If it exists, we weren't told about it.
Review 95:The room was nice, a bit overpriced, but certainly workable considering our other plans fell through. The shared balcony was a bit odd but we handled it.
Review 96:I loved the waterfront room, the staff were very friendly, the breakfast was good, the pool and bar area looked nice although we did not get a chance to use it.
Review 97:Mediocre breakfast buffet, served on Styrofoam dishes (bad for the environment and carcinogens and hormonal disruptors leach into food), nothing was prepared in the hotel, but the food came prepared in big plastic bags that were emptied into serving dishes. For the price being charged, I would expect a tasty, decent quality selection including scrambled eggs/omelet, home fries, bacon, homemade oatmeal, a fruit salad etc. They did offer some fresh grapefruit every day, which was a plus; and you could take your breakfast to the beach or to your balcony, which was very nice, too. We got some of our own breakfast stuff and "improve" what was offered and enjoyed it. The adjacent restaurant unfortunately had a fairly noisy exhaust fan that seemed to run non stop.
Review 98:Great view, tastefully furnished room, clean, comfortable bed, dog friendly, located right on the beach
Review 99:No negative comments.
Review 100:Everything was well run. Staff courteous and helpful. Very good breakfast. Room clean. Location convenient. Overall, the facility exceeded my expectation. I would stay there again.
Review 101:Hotel needs updating. One step up from a motel. Inside hallways are a little depressed. Hotel lacks charm and is overpriced for what you get.
Review 102:Nice pool area. Convenient access to the beach. Free parking. Friendly staff
Review 103:There was not enough space to sit and have breakfast. Paper plates and plastic cutlery for breakfast felt cheap. The room with 2 double beds is not suitable for 3 people. The beds were too small.
Review 104:Pool and parking on side.
Review 105:It is pricey for being so far from the center of town.
Review 106:The saltwater pool and outside seating area with propane fire pit is great.
Review 107:Clean room, friendly staff and great location.
Review 108:Loved the location. Room right on the beach!!!!
Review 109:Bed was extremely comfortable !
Review 110:Great location, but would have preferred to have an ocean view. Liked the outdoor firepit.
Review 111:Had stayed here in past years..a bar and breakfast were added..nice touch. .had ocean view which was beautiful!
Review 112:Great location with onsite parking. Great rooms, fire pit, the beach, great staff... everything you could want
Review 113:Walking distance to town. Nice view on Bay. Good breakfast. Very friendly and accommodating staff
Review 114:The room was dirty.
Review 115:The pool area
Review 116:Good spot
Review 117:Little expensive room a little crowded with the chair in the room
Review 118:Ocean front
Review 119:Noise factor, walls to thin!
Review 120:Location great
Review 121:No privacy when setting outside viewing sun set on the deck outside my room.
Review 122:The rooms were beautiful and the beach was right across the street!
Review 123:Great location. Great view. Right on the bay.
Review 124:Would like a comfortable chair in the rooms for relaxing.
Review 125:Great beds and very nice and helpful staff. Quiet and close enough to center of town.
Review 126:beds are saggy rooms are damp breakfast not great
Review 127:the pool and the beach
